with regards to your post stating that you noticed about half of the butch/femme art posted online lately featured butches having had mastectomies — i tried to do the math myself because i’ve also been seeing it (so has my butch, and we’ve been feeling like we were going insane).

i scrolled down 25 posts under the ‘butchfemme art’ search, and found that the first 16 posts presented the butch as having bound or surgically removed breasts. that’s almost 65%. (and when the butch did have a chest it was often smaller than the femme’s, or only hinted at by a few lines). genuinely, genuinely scary to think about. gender fans supposedly hate gender roles but the second a woman is masculine she is not allowed to qualify as female anymore.

Goddamn. I'm honestly not surprised by those numbers but at the same time it's so infuriating and depressing. I feel terrible for butch women who are overwhelmingly seeing themselves represented as though something is so wrong with them that they need surgical intervention.

It's so predatory. And you can tell the "butches just want to be men" mindset never went away in this movement chock full of straight people. but of course it's evilthoughtcrimes to analyze that overtone in the trans community. Oh no you poor confused soul, you're doing "woman" wrong! Can't you see "woman" means spinny dress and contouring? it's okay, just have some unnecessary major surgery and hormones that cause lifetime debilitating side effects. You're so much like a man anyway so why not try to physically approximate one?
