I had a rash of finishing up some of my unfinished Photoshop art—y’all remember Obake Itoko, right?  If you don’t, you can refresh your memory on FFN or AO3. ;)

So this was inspired by one of those Tumblr posts that made it to Pintrest that I had saved, which is summarized as Black Widow and Hawkeye’s Plan H: he’s deaf and she doesn’t speak English.  Successful 92.6% of the time.  Since Gogo’s VA has gone on record to say Gogo is Korean and in Obake Itoko Obake is mostly nonverbal and knows ASL, this is their plan for when they get into trouble. XD

Also I love how we as a fandom have collectively agreed that of the team, Obake would get along with Hiro, yes, but definitely Gogo—they crave violence. \.o./

Aunt Cass had volunteered for an adoption program months ago, enough that Tadashi and Hiro had moved on to worrying about other things. Now, however, a month after the fire at SFIT, Hiro is reminded of it when Aunt Cass is contacted to say she’s next on the list. Hiro’s not sure what to make of this quiet punk kid, but he knows one thing: this guy will never replace Tadashi. BH6 AU with Lilo and Stitch vibes.

Heya! Wanna say I love your work! Your art has a unique style and your writing is top-notch!

I got to your writing via the story I found about a young obake being adopted into the Hamada fam shortly after Tadashi died. To which I ask this, how soon is the Time-Traveling Obake coming along? Or is it up! anyway, keep up the great work!

Oh, you mean Obake Itoko! (read it on FFN or AO3, those who haven't yet XD). I need to work on the sequel to that, maybe once I get a couple of other current projects done, including that Time-Travelling Obake AU--the plan is to write it out in its completion before I start publishing, since the last several fanfics I've done have had that delay at the very end. ^^;

As for progress on it...we've only got three episodes left to address, and that's the last three: "The Bot-Fighter," "Obake Yashiki," and of course, "Countdown to Catastrophe." Had a ridiculous amount of progress on it this week and I plan to keep picking at it until it's finished, so we'll see. Goal is to maybe start publishing for BH6 Month next year, so I'd better get back to work. X'D

Uhhh #1?

I'll be honest, I had to go digging for the document I have all this on because it's been a while since I got an ask for this. X'D

Congratulations, you have revealed the fic Obake Itoko! Read it now on FanFiction and AO3.

This wasn't the first BH6 fanfiction I started, but it is the first one I posted, and one I really enjoy (need to get back to working on the sequels). The thought process here I think started as young punk Obake meets Hiro which then bled into some Lilo and Stitch flavoring, which I love, and really started the whole deep dive into the BH6 writing (that first year I think I did 1,000+ pages of nothing but BH6 stuff). Plus it's nice writing Hiro and Obake gradually become brothers/cousins--Obake Itoko is basically ghost cousin.

One of my fics (Obake Itoko, AKA That-One-I-Always-Talk-About) has chat text in it because it makes sense for the characters (they all have smartphones so it's easy for them to text each other) and it's??? Surprisingly freeing???  I can fill up pages and pages of chat text with no problem, to the point that I usually have to count two pages as one because it's nothing but basically back-and-forth banter.  It's really fun, plus it gives you a great excuse to include emoticons in a fic. :D

Gotta give a shoutout to Chris Wooding's book Malice for being a published example of chat text in a fic too, so that helps. :)

Also, word of warning: when picking chat names, try to pick ones that won't trip you up when you have to type them over and over again--I have a few that are l33t speak and they give my hands cramps writing them and trip me up on a regular basis, so...be careful. :\

do you have any tips on how to write chat fics? i feel like it's easy to make the dialogue seem too formal and unnatural. but there's also a danger of going so informal that the chat portion barely makes sense/doesn't really fit with the rest of the story

I’m personally a fan of using [name] ahead of each line to indicate who’s talking and make it look more like a chat. That’s one thing that can help, just in terms of formatting. 

When it comes to the conversation itself, I’d say don’t be afraid to use sentence fragments and emojis. Remember that in chats you can sometimes have two conversations going at the same time because someone is replying to an earlier comment. I’d cap it at 2 if I were you, though, just to make it possible to follow. And even then, get a beta reader to read through it before you post. Just to make sure it makes sense. 

If the rest of your story is a more traditional narrative/prose, I’d say keep the chat either to its own chapter or to a relatively small portion of a chapter. Again, that’s just me though.

To be fair when I started this I was thinking of (Not So) Hated by Life Itself but it fits the dynamic of Obake Itoko too--Obake tolerates Hiro and Aunt Cass holding his hand and dragging him around but anyone else will get a testy reminder XD

Also this is legit titled "rare chibi from me" because I don't really vibe with chibi styles but this was such a simple idea I didn't want to bother myself with proportions and such. And in posting it I realize that it kinda looks like he's revisiting the star machine but honestly Obake just spaced while letting Hiro talk about stuff he likes. ^^

More BH6

So what prompted this originally was a member of the Straggler’s Club doing a contest for hero outfits for other characters aside from the team, and I decided to take this as an opportunity to do Tadashi and Obake’s outfits in the Live and Learn series.  Look now, these will likely be the last things I ever do for that group—wish it was more fun, but the founder turned it into their personal therapy session and if I’m getting roped into that then I better dangsight be getting paid for it.

*ahem* Moving on, did up Tadashi’s outfit first because the closest I’ve gotten to nailing it down was a sketch for his outfit in The Aken/Hamada Collective series, and that version’s a little edgier because he’s got more of a chip on his shoulder in that AU.  Orange was always a given color for him since that’s the color missing from the team’s lineup, while the rest of it’s mostly inspired by baseball players and samurai.  Also wanted a sunnier look compared to my initial TA/HC design that sort of paired up with Honey Lemon’s, while at the same time taking Hiro’s magnetized design since in this AU Tadashi’s the one riding around on Baymax.  Tadashi’s particular weaponry also ends up being somewhere between Wasabi’s and Obake’s in Obake Itoko, where he has the electric sword and shield to go with the magnets.  As for the gloves and tinted visor, that’s something that Obake insisted on across the board, he is not going to jail because he’s stuck working with idiots.

Also figured I’d do Obake’s outfit as well, since it ends up being a little different and souped-up compared to how it appears in Obake Itoko.  As it is, I also ended up consolidating some design aspects across a couple different iterations, which also requires showing a little more detail to the back since I hadn’t shown that angle yet.  And, unlike in Obake Itoko, Obake is the one who designed this and therefore it has more edge.  Saying that, the only bits he started out with is the virus touch, the Buzz-Lightyear-style hacking tools in the arm armor, and the Robotnik gloves from the first Sonic movie; everything else were ideas the Hamada brothers had and decided to test on him, in order being the Doc Ock arms, the jetpacks (we’re getting the Mad Jacks in the sequel, boys), and the Shadow the Hedgehog shoes, which were mostly from me being totally stoked for the third Sonic movie just a few more months—and you can see in the corner the sketches for the shoes...done from memory.  I drew a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog stuff when I was little.  Saying all that, Obake tolerates all this because he prefers dealing with things from a distance and this enables that, although he has added some extras to the armor.  And yes he’s insisting on the tinted visor and gloves for the whole team he is not going to jail because of them—although it’s not quite enough to hide the SK in his face when he gets peeved.

So!  The sequel is currently sitting at 453 pages, 45 consecutive chapters, and 188K+ words—we’re three pages and 6K off from surpassing the original with ten episodes left to address, not counting the ‘bridge events’ I want to address with fleshing out season 2 some more.  We’re getting closer....

ok so I posted 4 chapters of it which is enough to explain things while I keep posting a chapter a day. Then it’ll get more sporadic as I write more. But I have everything planned out.

I'm back for BH6 Month!

Goals this month are:

--Finish part 1 of Ghost's Reign

--Get the next ten chapters of a handful of fics done

--Also get handful of fics to the next hundred-page mark

--Focus on the sequels to (Not So) Hated by Life Itself and Obake Itoko

--Get a big chunk of the BH6 art on my computer done

Been doing two pages a day this year but might try to bump it up to six for this month. With that in mind, I'd better get started!

Obake Itoko’s version of Obake, and Beck, I think they’d get along well. Sure, the city would be very much in danger if they got up to anything… but they’ll have fun. Anyhow I decided to do it in black-and-white bc why not.

Hello! So, your fics (specifically Obake Itoko and (Not So) Hated By Life Itself) inspired me to begin writing a similar fic (pre-brain-damage Obake getting sent forward in time to be a part of Big Hero 6 shenanigans). However, I am weird about posting a fic that was inspired by someone else’s fic.. so I was wondering if that’s ok? Thanks!

And since I have some intents to posts some one-shots I want to make a quick PSA:

With the exception of direct sequels (i.e., planned sequels for Obake Itoko, Ghost's Reign, (Not So) Hated by Life Itself, etc.) I will NOT be posting anything new to FFN

FFN is once again doing its whole song and dance about how e-mails are not going out, as it did late 2023, and while I'm busy copying everything over to AO3 and backing up fics I've found on there that I like...I'm not certain I see the point in persisting in posting new stuff there

It feels very much like it's trying to die and with that in mind, I'm just...not gonna put anything on there unless it's a sequel to something already posted

Anywho after the rash of one-shots I have planned expect to see me porting another chonker over from FFN, probably the Don't Starve/Portal one The Things We Do For Science, stay tuned

In the continuing saga of saturating my dash with BH6 month–have some art from that Lilo and Stitch-flavored AU, Obake Itoko!  (read the first book on FanFiction and AO3).

So have these three doing undercover detective work--or so they think.  Not sure if this would be season one or two here...probably two because the reason for Hiro going undercover to trail Granville wouldn’t exactly exist (since her own reason takes place within the movie time period).  So possibly they’re tailing Liv Amara.  Obake’s little sticker shield was probably something he got from Chief Cruz being a smart-aleck and trying for Aunt Cass’s sake (dangerous criminal kid in a nice household?  Oh yeah this kid is just playing them I got my eye on you).  Baymax’s outfit is based on the one Hiro puts him in to make him less obvious and yes, they did have to duct-tape those sunglasses onto him. XD

In the continuing saga of let’s flood my dash with BH6 content for BH6 month...chibi Boneman. XD

So, for context, this is for my one fanfic Obake Itoko (read it on FanFiction and AO3) where Obake is Hiro’s age and gets adopted by the Hamadas (working on Season One now, updates on that in the future).  Shenanigans ensue, it ends up being Big Hero Seven, Obake’s referred to as Boneman for his handle thanks to his outfit, and since all the heroes get chibi-fied in Karmi’s fanfiction...Obake was not exempt. X’D

So this was sketched out while I was watching the episode “Big Chibi Six” and oh gosh I miss this show.  Had a nebulous plan to finish it up with color and everything but honestly I like the sketchy look. :)

Also Obake’s visor is blacked out and he never talks so Karmi translates that as his visor being a screen that show emotes (a la that helmet Dewey wore during Scrooge’s birthday).  Fred is supportive, Obake is not amused this was funnier when it was Hiro being tortured, Hiro finds this hilarious.
