the friends i have who live on my floor are fine but their idea of conversation is to recite jokes from the internet and iterate on them with little creativity, generate meaningless strings of words that are amusing due to their incorporation of the funny word of the week, and bemoan their respective drug addictions, late assignments, and stagnant relationships in a way that feels like they are proudly bragging about their suffering. which is to say it is endlessly draining to be around them and it is always like this.
