__The Palace Courtyard___ 

The first week of the social season was officially underway which meant that it was time for the annual royal garden party. On a balmy, early summer afternoon, it was one of those events that managed to bring together nearly all the key players of the royal court, politicians, diplomats, nobles and close friends of the king and queen together.

Liam was busy talking with Ana de Luca and other reporters from national press outlets, while Riley was surrounded by ladies from the court who were pestering her with endless courtly questions. 

-And the five-year-old twin princes had gone missing.  

"Shit! ... Fuck!" ... Leo growled under his breath when he realized his twin nephews were missing after searching the hedge maze. Drake, sitting with Maxwell near the outdoor bar, looked at the frazzled former crown prince in amusement as he downed a full glass of scotch. 

“Rys?! What did you do?” Drake stifled his laugh, as Leo muttered to himself ..."I told them not to go in there. I've no idea how they even got out." 

"I think that's the point of a maze, Uncle Leo, to get lost," eleven-year-old crown princess Eleanor said matter-of-factly, rolling her eyes. 

That’s all it took for Drake and Maxwell to explode in laughter, shaking their heads. 

"You know, sometimes you are too smart for your own good," Leo said, scowling at his niece while ignoring the snickering and chortling of his friends. 

Eleanor cheekily grinned at her uncle. Leo stared at her, thinking to himself that she's been spending time together with her dad far too much lately, sighed in frustration.

"Do you want some help looking for them?" she asked sweetly. 

"You'd do that? Your mom would kill me if she found out that I let you go alone. She already is annoyed that I let you play hide and seek with them the other day.” 

"Why are you so desperate to find them? I'm sure the nannies are with them." 

"I'm the only one who knows their hiding spot and I can't even find it, so I have to look." 

"What's in it for me?" 

"You get to hang out with your cool uncle," he smirked. 

"I've already hung out with you enough for today," she replied with sass.

"Oh, come on, Ellie, do you really want to sit around with all these snobs and old people. I thought you hated this stuff." 

"Fine, I'll help, but only because you called me Ellie, and if Mom catches us, we'll both be in big trouble." 

Leo smiled to himself. He loved getting his way. 

Eleanor, however, was very clever and observant. She'd figured out the hiding place a few days ago. She wasn't going to let Leo know, but she decided it would be fun to mess with him a little. 

She took him through the maze, making it seem like she was actually looking, but leading him around in circles. 

"This is never going to work. What are we going to do when Mom realizes they are missing?" 

"I don't know, Ellie. They were here a moment ago, and now they're gone," Leo replied. 

She was interrupted by an eruption of laughter from the bushes, as the twin princes jumped out. 

As Eleanor and Leo turned into the center of the maze, Mara, Riley's personal guard, called out, "Princess Eleanor, your mother and father are aski..." 

"We were right here the whole time, Uncle Leo," said William, laughing. 

"Ha! Ha! You two little shits!" Leo exclaimed sardonically, yet relieved.

"Mommy said you aren't supposed to say bad words, Uncle Leo," Stefan said. 

"I'll deal with you later," he grumbled.

Returning to the courtyard, Eleanor took her place beside her father as he and Riley chatted with Ana de Luca and her crew. 

"There's my favorite 11 year old," said Ana de Luca. 

"Are you here to interview me?" Eleanor asked. 

"Actually, yes, I was hoping to get some insight from our future queen." 

Eleanor rolled her eyes, and turned her attention to her parents, who were watching the exchange with amusement. 

"How are you enjoying the social season so far?" 

"It's great, everyone is really nice," Eleanor replied diplomatically, sounding bored. 

"Okay, Princess Eleanor, Cordonians want to know.  It's your parent's wedding anniversary coming up.... can you share some secrets about your mom and dad?" 

Eleanor glanced over at her parents, and they gave her a nod of encouragement. 

"Sure, what do you want to know?" she replied. 

"How does the King and Queen show their love?" 

"Sometimes, Daddy plans surprise date nights for my mom, like picnics in the hedge maze or candlelit dinners." 

"That's very romantic. Anything else?" 

"Hmm, Mommy leaves little love notes for Daddy in his study, and he keeps them all in a special box. And they always hold hands and they hug a lot." 

"I see, that is very sweet. Your parents live a very hectic life. How do they support each other?" 

"Daddy always holds my mom's hand when she's nervous, like during official events or speeches." 

"Do you think they still love each other like they did when they first met?" 

"Definitely! I overheard my mom telling Auntie Hana that she and Daddy are still best friends and have so much fun together. Sometimes, I hear them talking and laughing late into the night in their room. They have inside jokes that only they understand, and then they burst into laughter together.'" 

"Awww. That is so adorable," said Ana de Luca, before turning to face the camera. 

"You heard it here first, the King and Queen are still in love and living the happily ever after they always wanted." 

Liam and Riley smiled proudly, as Liam snaked his arm around her waist, gently pulling her closer to him. 

"Thanks, Ellie, that was amazing," Riley beamed, giving her daughter a high five. 

"Yes, Eleanor, you did a wonderful job," Liam added, smiling with pride.

"Thanks, Ellie," said Leo. "Maybe someday soon you can run the kingdom with your smarts." 

Eleanor giggled, "Yeah, maybe."

favorite thing about them

Easy, it's Tara :D On the serious note, though, I think it's his sense of humour. I swear, I wanted to dislike him, but he's fucking hilarious, smart, snarky, sarcastic and sometimes so cleverly subtle. It is so easy to fall in love with peopl that make you laugh, and boy does Gale make me laugh a lot. I do think that it's his smarts and knowledge showing themselves through other means than just magic mastery and trivia knowledge. It takes brains to be that kind of funny. Also this makes him so human, how could that man ever think he can detach himself to the point of godhood?

least favorite thing about them

He seems to have a hard time of letting go of toxic things, and I'm not just talking about Mystra, but also his ambitions that showed several times that they don't always bring him the best. It's just frustrating to watch when you see such a smart person be so stupidly stubborn.

Gale x Karlach. They sure do roast each other, but perhaps the overall lack of sass and also her cinnamon roll friendliness help Gale showcase he isn't an unbearable ass all the time. Also I just always love a dynamic of two characters with some vivid gaps in erudition and knowledge (don't wanna say "intelligence", because they both are adorably dumb sometimes, but yeah). The book smarts VS street smarts, you know? I think they take great care of each other as friends.

OTP

Gale x Lae'zel. Hands down. They are so fucking different (apart from the fact that they're both potentially autistic, lol), and no one can understand how the fuck they ended up together, and that's the best part. Hell, even they do not understand. Even putting my absolute favourite "a strong woman that hides her cheering supportuve man behind her back as she slices through 200 enemies" dynamic aside, they have a lot to bond over (you know. awful exes. seeking your own path after leaving them.), plus a lot to learn from each other. She never stops being an exciting wonder and a source of strength to him, he never ceases to inspire her curiousity and appreciation for things outside her warrior path. And they're the weirdest, embarassing, most accepting parents ever. Their kiddo's gonna be teased, but will deliver the nastiest verbal and physical burns. They're so proud of their child.

unpopular opinion

Man, I don't even know... I guess it's not as much an opinion, but even despite the fact that he grew on me so fast and strong, he's still among my least preferred to romance companions? He's just a little too frustrating for me to be able to stay with him constantly, and the fact that he's monogamous and pretty clingy in general just is not the most attractive to me. So like. My unpopular opinion is that he's not that hot. I guess.

19. Who loves to call the other one cute names?

Vivian definitely does it more than Ominis.🤭 She has so many for him. Love, Darling, Prince, Mon Amour, Chéri, the list goes on. She knows he loves to sleep and take naps whenever he can and she is the only person who can properly wake him up. (That he allows to wake him up.😂) She will whisper all these cute names to him and stroke his hair or back until he wakes up with a smile.

Ominis has a few for his curvy queen.❤️ Darling, My Love, Princess, his Little Serpent. (When she’s in her Animagus form.) He will playfully tease her about her height but secretly, she loves it, especially when he kisses the top of her head. Although she is much shorter than him, she is not a pushover and that is something that Ominis adores about her.

24. Who is the talker/ Who is the listener?

Vivian tends to talk and Ominis is a very good listener. Vivian isn’t really shy and she’s confident with who she is. She’s a French girl with a passion for fashion and loves talking about all her designs with Ominis. He is also her business partner and she will not sell a design without his approval. They make a dynamic and powerful team in the fashion industry. Ominis will also listen when she goes through one of her rants in French and does his best to calm her down.

Vivian listens to Ominis as well. He’s able to be himself with her and she’s always telling him how he can talk to her about anything. She doesn’t judge him or make him feel worse about himself. People are often surprised to discover that Ominis actually has a silly and humorous side. Vivian encourages him to just let go and enjoy life, especially after everything he has been through. He loves to cuddle and play with her cat Willow. Ominis and Vivian bring out the best in one another and even a few students envy their relationship.

35. Who goes overboard on the holidays?

Hands down, it’s Vivian. lol. She will design matching costumes for them, plan to go to a couples baking class for Christmas, have Ominis spend the holiday with her grandmother in a cozy cabin, buy lots of candy for Halloween and feed it to him. Ominis may not enjoy the costumes or large crowds but he loves how happy it makes Vivian and if she’s happy then he is happy. She will reward him for being a good sport as well with lots of steamy sex.🤭 He’s been a good boy in her eyes, he deserves it.😁

HOFAS Thoughts and Review!

This is also my review on Goodreads. Naturally, this is full of spoilers so proceed with caution!

4 star read!

This was a wild ride from start to finish. I found that you jumped right into the action and it literally didn't stop. The crossover with ACOTAR was very info-dump but I didn't mind since a) I don't remember anything lol and b) we needed to make the connection. I really loved seeing Nesta and Azriel in this different element. Given the timeline between ACOSF and HOFAS being about 3 months, I loved that Azriel and Nesta now know how to fight together and Nesta is so in touch with her powers. I love seeing how their friendship has bloomed.

Bryce is a menace and will forever be one. She's one of Sarah's MCs I relate to the least and therefore needed to warm up to her more. I found that in this book, I could despite a lot of her arrogant moments that will rub people the wrong way. I love Quinlar's love but didn't appreciate that she minimized Hunt's reaction to basically reliving much of his trauma with the first war. I'm glad she apologized and got to the point of understanding him but it left a little meh of a taste. The ending scene where he goes after her had my heart in pieces!! Through love, all is indeed possible and I love they were always with each other through it all.

Bryce basically being the High Lady of Dusk and controlling the land was amazing! I loved seeing those scenes. Saitha being the one to kneel first, declaring her as queen? Loved that. The two fae kings dying an awful death? Fabulously done! Hunt mf Althar removing his own slave halo and then removing Isaiah's while calling out that governor lady on her shit??? ADORE! Jesiba's everything in this book? I salute you, queen! Sabine's death??? The Under-King's death??? Literally had me gasping so much.

Ruhn my love, you will always be the Crown Prince of the Fae and that soundbite will always be on repeat every time I see your name lol.

Ruhn x Lidia's romance fell very flat to me. I love Ruhn and hated everything he had to go through but Lidia's character felt out of left field for me. I expected better/different? We find out out of NOWHERE that she's a mom of twins and suddenly, that's her whole personality. She went from this badass agent to everything being about her kids. There is NOTHING WRONG with her being a mother but why couldn't she be a mother AND care about the cause because it's the right thing to do? This was a missed opportunity in my opinion. I also felt like this was very self-insert of Sarah being a mom to have to include another character having kids. The constant talk about all these traumatized idiots having babies is getting on my last fucken nerves tbh. They have a million years to live so can we, I don't know, let them LIVE for five seconds without the absolute need to "start a family"? Let them go to therapy damn it. Sarah constantly writes about how awful it is that fae are obsessed with breeding and whatnot, yet every single of one her characters talks about babies...pls sarah, I beg. Give me ONE otp that doesn't have children. I know she's a HEA author which is what I love about her and her romances but it doesn't always have to end with kids and I just wish we'd see that more. Ruhn and Lidia did not strike me as characters who would be parents at all but now, Ruhn is a stepdad to the Hind's secret twins? It's very weird to me but I hope maybe down the line, we get to see Lidia realize that she is a whole person outside of being a mom. Aside from all that, the rescue scene was amazing. I loved seeing her destroy that asshole she had to endure and I just want to say, Aelin would be cheering mad hard at her for it! It felt like Lidia's fire abilities, the stag relation, and her son's name were all a nod to TOG and I loved that.

As for all the other characters, I really enjoyed seeing Ithan come into his own even though my guy was making mad stupid decisions along the way. His moment with Connor will always have my heart! l also loved the little bits of Ithan and Perry so much! Tharion my love, you will always be famous for making the most desperately dumb decisions before passing that one brain cell you have to Ithan but you know what? Sathia is going to be great for him and I ship it with my whole chest. Ari was wasted in this book and her ungrateful attitude annoyed me. Sigrid's whole plotline was pointless. Declan and Flynn are the best buds and I love them so much. Baxian, you are a gem! Pax being the one responsible for the actual HOFAS while being a healer who is making those antidotes was a great twist and I love it for her. The little fire spirits were so cute and their little moment with the viper queen made me cackle. The Viper Queen can suck it but I am also so very curious about what will happen now considering how that scene ends with Tharion/Ari/Sathia/Colin. I have a feeling all these characters will be showing up again in the future and I'd be excited to read how that will go. I have a feeling it might be done ACOSF style - in that, it'll be standalone in the CC world.

Bonus Chapters:

Bryce, Azriel, Nesta - hilarious and also so cute how Nesta was fascinated by the music playing from Bryce's phone. Azriel doesn't have a mate or partner so let that be clear LOL. Also Nesta already thinking about babies makes me wanna die tbh.

RuhnLidia - It was cute that she proposed and Ruhn is such a little dork crying left and right hahaha.

Quinlar - Hilarious how the big strong thunder boy was scared of those little dolls HAHA.

Ember/Randall - This made me want the Archeron sisters to have a mother figure so badly! The moment with Nesta and Ember hugging was so sweet in the book. I know people are mad at Rhys for yelling at Nesta but y'all...the whole world was at stake and that was a scary decision to make on Nesta's part given how the Pyrthian is STILL traumatized by the Asterie. I don't love how much he yelled but I get it.

Despite having parts I didn't like, I did overall really have fun with this. I think Sarah always does a great job with the action scenes in the end and giving us that found family connection. I could do without having the whole girl boss/girl power white feminist nonsense constantly shoved in our faces but alas! As I said, I still really enjoyed it! It had a lot of moments that pulled on all my emotions as every SJM book does. I will always enjoy what she puts out because I take it all at face value and read it to have fun. Sarah always knows how to enjoy her writing and you can tell while reading and for me, that's more than enough. The lore/plot is secondary to the characters for me and that is always how she sucks me in. She writes compelling characters who have amazing adventures and friendships that you feel through the pages and I will always enjoy that. Can't wait for more books! Here's to hoping we hear something about ACOTAR soon especially now that Bryce gave both swords back to Nesta! Can't wait to see how it plays out!

(ex: a big fan of Hina x Kyoko in the main timeline after Sakura unfortunately Exits Stage Death. and Miu, well, i just want someone to treat her well while also not letting themselves get stomped-on)

First, Jonerys will always be my OTP. Yeah, the show ended like a burning pile of dog turds, but in fan fiction they're living happily ever after as they should have. The one good thing is that Kit's show is not going to be made which means they will not be able to profit off Daenerys Death anymore than the already do. Kit, find you another franchise where you can swing a sword. I'll watch it. I sat through Pompeii I can do anything.

Second, I love KANTHONY!!! I mean, the PINING! THE UST! LOVE IT! All the glances and touches and the "You are the bane of my existence and the object of my every desire" yes, sir! PLEASE. Love them. So glad we get to see them happy and in love this season. Just a boon, for sure.

Third, POLIN! Ok, hang on, let me get this out of the way first because it is a huge concern to me. I do not, under any circumstances, want to see Eloise join in with Cressida to make fun of Penelope. I get it, she's hurt, but please don't let her do that because she knows all of the sensitive points about Penelope, not even counting Lady Whistledown. She knows the things she's sensitive about and stands to truly hurt her. I had my former best friend do that to me and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Though, Nicola and Luke were both adamant about their love for Eloise. So, here's hoping.

POLIN - Alright, I'm going to say what I'm sure many other people are thinking -- Colin needs to grovel in apology for what he said. It's already difficult enough for Pen, with her introverted nature, to meet and talk to people. That has been clearly established. But to then have an influential man in the ton declare that he would never dream of courting her? I mean, talk about ruining a girl's chances all around.

There are little things throughout the trailer that fascinate me. One being that I think Penelope isn't going to arrive to one of the balls with her family but fake an illness and stay home. Perhaps after seeing Eloise with Cressida at a garden party earlier that day. Something sparks within her and causes her to no longer lie there, but throw open her wardrobe and we see her getting dressed. We do see Pen see them walk away together. So, I think she comes in late, dressed in a different gown, with a different look. Perhaps she asked Madam Delacroix to make it for her outside of her mother's knowledge. Because we see her standing at the top of a staircase in a red cape and then dramatically allowing it to fall to the ground. Everyone turns and looks. (My favorite thing, is if you look at the crowd, her brother-in-law, Mr. Finch is smiling at her - such a sweet, cheese loving boy!). But Cressida and Eloise look shook. Also, in this same scene we do see Francesca and Pen later talking. This is important to me as it is said in the books, Colin is very close with Franny, especially once he starts traveling and she moves to Scotland. Lady Danbury is obviously speaking with the Queen about the possible matches that could be made. So far, all the writings we've seen about this season show that Mister Dankworth is interested in marriage, but instead of being along the lines of Nigel Berbrook, he's more along the lines of Prince Friedrich. You might root for him if Colin wasn't already in the picture. I have a feeling that while his interest will spark jealousy in Colin, it will also spark confidence in Penelope. Which, judging by some of these awkward convos we see her having with some of the other men of the ton, she really needs. But the sight of them dancing beneath the moonlight in the ballroom, and their heads close together over a book, and Colin having to sit back and watch as a bystander, is too sweet for me to take. Colin is the sort you have to hit over the head and drag him to it. Someone else finding her desirable could spark that wait, what have I missed. We love our leading man, but baby are you dense. The scene where he's sitting back and the flame slowly lights, it's like Colin's love for Penelope. It doesn't happen all at once, but as it grows and glows it gets brighter. Their trope is she falls first, but he falls harder. And in the books, that 100% true. He's my wife this, my wife that. Once he realizes that he's in love with her, there is nothing else that matters to him BUT her.

you may have already talked about this so forgive me buuuuut what were Belle and Adam's reactions to each pregnancy? and their baby's reactions as they joined in on the fun of learning they would be getting siblings?

i have been SO excited to answer this all day. i love pregnancy discoveries/announcements SO MUCH i just think they’re so cute. (i mean, they can certainly be Not Great news, but in otp land!!!! CUTE!!!!) so without further ado, let’s get INTO IT!!

okay for their first baby… gosh i’ve probably written and rewritten this scene twenty different ways over the years. this is the BIG ONE!! the moment they go from a married couple to PARENTS!!! it’s HUGE it’s LIFE CHANGING!! i think about it all the time. and i think after all these years i finally have a scenario that i’m most happy with, that i’d really love to write and sort of insert into my canon, but just haven’t finished yet. and the funny part is that i’ve already written The Conversation™️ i just have to set it up and context and story and all that jazz. but anyway, i think it’d be such a big thing for both of them.

for belle, she really never imagined she’d get to be a mother. and i think the idea of motherhood, in a way, sort of scared her. she LOVES children for sure, but i think growing up in the village with no real prospects, no chance of getting out and being free, the idea of becoming someone’s domestic little housewife and homemaker was just such an awful idea to her. she wanted true love, she wanted a family of her own, but she just didn’t want it to be in that little provincial town with no hope of escape. and marrying someone and having their kids would just tether her there forever. and she wanted more for herself!!

so then, when she marries, idk, THE PRINCE? and becomes THE QUEEN? everything just changes. she’s not just some guy’s little wife. adam would rather die than let that happen. adam believes in her and pushes her to be as incredible as he knows she is. she has so many responsibilities in her role, she’s a freakin powerhouse!!! so when she does end up pregnant, almost a year after they get married, she’s actually quite excited by it. because she Knows she’s so much more than a homemaker. she doesn’t have to compromise herself to be a wife and mother, as she had once feared. she gets to have a baby with the love of her life and still fulfill all her own dreams. she can really do it all, your honor! so, in short, realizing she’s pregnant that first time is exciting and a huge relief knowing this isn’t the end of her life, just another chapter.

for adam it’s more like AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH !!!??!! PANIC PANIC PANIC WORRY WORRY WORRY !!!!!! but i can elaborate further. essentially, adam was never really keen on fatherhood. surprise surprise, having an abusive father and growing up suppressed and bullied and then directionless and scared and all that… didn’t really enthuse him on the idea that he’d be a great parent for any kid. despite that, of course, he did know deep down he would have to have an heir at some point. probably with some random woman who was deemed a politically advantageous match, someone he didn’t care about, the way he didn’t care about anything. but he ignored that prospect as often as possible, the same way he ignored all his other royal responsibilities. BUT! NOW? he Loves his wife……… he loves his wife so much and everything is different now. he’s a changed man now. he’s trying so hard to see the goodness in the world now. everything is brighter and it’s scary but he’s strengthened by her and supported by her and loved by her and… and… she’s pregnant 🥺

i’ve written this scene so many different ways mostly because adam’s reaction is just so… complicated. he wouldn’t be angry but i don’t think he’d be overtly happy either. he’s changed, he’s grown, but “fatherhood” is such a Deeply Rooted issue for him that i think when belle tells him, he just doesn’t even react at first. he knows he loves her and knows, logically, this is a good thing, so he holds her and starts worrying about her and starts processing this great big change in his life. and he fears becoming his father, despite the fact that it’s his mother’s kind heart beating inside him. and belle tells him there is no one else on this earth she’d rather have children with, because no one would ever believe in her the way he does. the way she believes in him. so they have lots of reassuring talks over the course of the pregnancy, and of course, that beautiful day when their first little one finally arrives, it’s just magic 🥹

GAH! first baby euphoria consumes my soul. i could talk about it forever, clearly. but i’ll move on to baby number TWO!

i actually HAVE written this fic of belle telling adam!! it’s a couple years old now so i’m tempted to not link it but it’s still how i imagine it happens in canon so it’s okay. i shan’t cringe at my old writing!! anyway, it’s christmas 1743 when belle tells adam they’ll be spending NEXT christmas with one more little angel than this year 🥰 adam is a lot happier on the second round, now that he’s been a father for a bit of time, now that he’s positively fallen in LOVE with his daughter, he’s more excited to keep growing their family. renée, however, is not even two yet when this is happening, so she really doesn’t have any thoughts about it lmao. HOWEVER, once her baby sister arrives, she is Not enthused by the sudden lack of attention. i’ve written a cute one about that so i’ll link that as well <3 i really want to write the moment renée meets juliette, i think it’d be sort of funny considering how young she was, but i just haven’t gotten around to it. my fic about the day juliette was born is already so hectic for other reasons, so it just didn’t work to write renée into it.

LASTLY!!! LE PRINCE!!!! it’s like you’re in my HEAD bro because just Yesterday i got a cute idea for how this pregnancy may be discovered. (and i have considered multiple possibilities, this is just the latest and greatest). i was imagining perhaps juliette (age 4) comes down with a cold of sorts, so belle’s been taking care of her. then belle starts to feel sick, and she just brushes it off thinking she caught juliette’s bug. but then juliette gets better and belle is still feeling like GARBAGE. and eventually it clicks that it’s because she’s pregnant <3 i think this third one catches them both off guard just a bit because the girls came so quickly one after the other and then it’s been almost five years and nothin??? i mean it’s the 18th century it’s not like they were doing anything to prevent it. (i am aware of 18th century contraception methods but these two definitely were not using them lmao). regardless, when it finally clicks, adam and belle are both just sort of like “oh shit!!!! NICE!!!!” lmao. they had gotten settled in life with their two girlies, but they’re certainly not mad about adding to their number 💖

as far as the girls’ reactions, i would also like to write that some time, but haven’t yet. in general, i think renée (who was very nearly 7) just EXPLODES with a million questions. she’s also very adamant that this baby Must be another girl (spoiler alert: it was not💙) and she’s just in general trying to be as obnoxiously involved as possible. she’s always tossing out name ideas (usually characters from the books she’s reading, but also lots of flower names like chrysanthemum and hyacinth). she also loves putting her hand on belle’s growing bump and asking “what’s the baby doing now??” like 20 times a day. (she loses her mind whenever she feels him kick🥹)

juliette, on the other hand, takes a long time to process it (it’s the autism, but also she’s just younger). but it sort of helps that, at the time, lumiere & plumette were already expecting their second child. so adam & belle could be like “you know how auntie plumette is gonna have a baby soon? well now so are WE!” and juliette’s like “oooooohhhhh 🤔 (doesn’t get it at all).” but when that baby arrives (a lil lad named xavier🥰🧡) juliette gathers what’s going on. that is a BABY. she does like feeling the baby in mama’s tummy move as well, it’s very wild to her. she’s much more quietly curious about her future little sibling than renée is, but she’s just as excited when they do finally meet him. which i HAVE written 🥹🥹🥹

AND, juliette gets the credit for giving her little brother his lifelong nickname. when her parents told her they were naming him maurice, she very quietly replied “hi, reece☺️” and he is forever called reece/reecy by his family and friends henceforth 🩵 (it also helps to differentiate from his beloved namesake grandfather!)

renée isn’t super excited about having a brother instead of another sister, (especially when lumiere and plumette already have TWO boys. (ENOUGH WITH THE BOYS IN THIS GOSH DANG CASTLE!!!😒)) but she does come to love him!! even though he’s annoying as hell!!! but it’s his gotdamn right as the little brother💛

Random Headcanon: He is born ilegitimate, wich makes him mistakenly thing that, since he is not viable candidate to heir the title of Prince of Verona, the field between Montagues and Capulets will not affect him and he can do whatever he wants, wich his older relative, Escalus, tries constantly to warn him that is not truth, with no success.

Unpopular Opinion: He is not more inteligent than Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. He may be the most funny and cynical, but his actions are the most impulsive, starting the domino of deaths when he unnecessaraly enters the duel Tybalt.

Character ask: The seven dwarfs (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)

Favorite thing about them: In all versions of the fairy tale, I love their kindness in accepting Snow White into their home and how devotedly they come to love her. As for Disney's iconic dwarfs, I also love their comedy and their endearing individual personalities: especially adorable Dopey, and Grumpy with all his funny lines and his arc of gradually warming up to Snow White. I love the fact that despite being silly cartoon characters, they're still such warm, engaging figures that back in 1937, they moved an audience full of tough Hollywood moguls and stars to tears with their grief at Snow White's apparent death.

I also enjoy seeing the creative ways that different adaptations portray them. Their names and personalities vary, of course, as does whether they're gnomelike creatures or humans with dwarfism, and exactly how comically or seriously they're portrayed varies too. They've also been portrayed as a brotherhood of priests, as a band of thieves, as the last survivors of a noble Tolkien-esque race, as rainbow gnomes who control the weather, as magical craftsmen who made the Queen's magic mirror, as seven average-sized human siblings whose surname happens to be Dwarf, and as seven formerly-handsome princes transformed into green dwarfs as a punishment. I love the variety!

Least favorite thing about them: That some people with dwarfism, like Peter Dinklage, view them as ableist, dehumanizing figures.

Three things I have in common with them:

*I like gold and gemstones.

*Like Disney's dwarfs, I can be messy.

*If a person fleeing from danger were to arrive at my door, I would also take them in and try my best to protect them.

Three things I don't have in common with them:

*I've never worked as a miner.

*I'm of average height.

*I live in a condo, not a cottage, and I thankfully don't share it with seven other people.

nOTP: Snow White, unless it's a retelling where one of them is portrayed as her love interest.

Random headcanon: I firmly ascribe to the belief that Disney's dwarfs are gnome-like beings, not humans with dwarfism. They have a magical connection to the earth, which explains why the gems they mine appear cut and polished. They're also immortal, and already several hundred years old when they meet Snow White – some of the movie storybooks and earlier drafts of the script make this explicit.

Unpopular opinion: While I love Grumpy's character arc of resisting Snow White's presence at first but ultimately learning to love her, I don't have any desire to ship them the way some do. I'd rather view his love for her as more fatherly; he's an old man and she's a young girl, after all. I'd sooner ship him with Doc (assuming they're not brothers – whether the dwarfs are related to each other or not is another thing that varies between adaptations), because their blend of closeness and bickering gives off an "old married couple" vibe.

Well, this is not a fair ask. Because we all know if given the choice I'm going to choose my lady love, Emma. Like, I know who usually gets the most attention in fandom, but my heart lies with the socially awkward goof with Disney Princess curls.

I am who I am and ain't nothin' gonna change me.

Onto the questions!!!

--> How I feel about this character:

I mean, other than that I love her? I think she started out strong (like most of the OUaT women). She was fully fledged, she had character and weakness and vulnerabilities and strength. She said the wrong thing, but she tried to do right always. She didn't care what anyone thought and was desperate for everyone to love her.

She wanted family her entire life and, ultimately, she let them destroy her.

Emma started strong, like most OUaT women, and then the show... changed. It was less strong female characters and character driven, it began focusing on developing and introducing male characters, often at the expense of character growth and development.

The show was made in the liminal space of female/female shipping becoming more popular, but the industry shying away from it. When it became very clear very early on that Swan Queen was a thing, they overcorrected, tripping over themselves to introduce very male love interests. ("Look how much dick these ladies love!").

And it became less about the women we love. Emma's lifelong search for family and the struggle she had with giving up everything for them, to become the saviour they wanted, and STILL never being good enough, because ALL they wanted was a saviour and they rejected her as a daughter... all of that, became lessening herself, making herself palatable, for Hook.

It's barely even the same character.

I want heartbroken little girl who longs for a family, who so desperately wants to believe Henry's tales because it gives her a family, but she cannot dare. Life has kicked her down so many times that even the thought of believing in hope was a terrifying thing.

Only to find love and acceptance in a small town and later finding that they were family.

The woman who gives everything, who becomes their saviour and sacrifices everything, only to be told it's not enough and her mother wants a real child.

I want the woman who laughed and loved and joked and played and broke the law to uphold it. Who threw fistfights in a cemetery. Who took apart kettles in her apartment. Who left her life to follow a small child who claimed to be her son without any shred of proof whatsoever. Who thew herself down a mine. And took up a sword to fight a dragon she didn't believe in.

Okay, wow, that was question one? Let's move on.

--> All the people I ship romantically with this character:

Regina Mills, obviously. I mean, their story was legendary. It was more of a Disney story than Snow White and Prince Charming. Divorced parents that were never married. Enemies to lust. Enemies in lust. Two lost little girls. Emma internalised her pain. Regina externalised it. But it was the same. They taught each other, they supported each other, they knew each other more than anyone else.

With all my fandom lady loves, I am quite generous and liberal with my Emma shipping. Emma/Regina, Emma/Ruby, Emma/anyone, basically. I tend to stay away from Emma/Hook, because I find that side of fandom a little toxic, but that's just my preference. I didn't mind her with Graham. Throw in a little Emma/Regina/Ruby, or Emma/Regina/Graham, or even Emma/Regina/Evil Queen for some fun. But basically Emma/anyone is my jam.

My preference is Regina, though.

--> My unpopular opinion regarding this character:

Unpopular? That's subjective.

One side of fandom would not like that I think she deserved a lot better than Hook.

The other side of fandom would not like that I believe she's more Bisexual than full on Lesbian (in the closet).

--> One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character?

It would be too easy to say I wish that her and Regina had found happiness ever after.

But... honestly... I wish she had been able to stand on her own two feet at the end, instead of playing Polyester Bride with Hook.

I wish she had been accepted at the very start as the daughter she'd always wanted to be, instead of having to fight for approval and give up all the "unpalatable" sides of herself to please those around her.

I wish she had kept the light that shone out of her in the first two seasons.

If she hadn't ended up with a woman (which, I get why it wouldn't have happened then), then at least with someone who respected her, who didn't ridicule her, who didn't attack or demean her every chance he got, who put himself first in most everything he did.

She deserved better.

They all did.

Chapter 2.) The Family Rys. Part 2.

A few days later they ran into another problem. Their son was sick. 

Kylo had been very clingy to his parents as of late, and after they came back from a date night, he was very fussy and irritable.

“Shhhh baby. It's okay.” Shanelle said, bouncing him on her hip, trying to soothe him. 

“Any luck?” Marquise asked. 

“No. He's still fussy,” she replies. 

Marquise noticed that he was pulling on his ear. 

“He's pulling on his ear.” 

“I noticed.”

After trying everything the parents could think of, Marquise took Kylo’s temperature, and when he read it his face was grim. 

“What's his temperature?” Shanelle asked. 

“38.3° Celsius,” he replied. 

“Conversion?” 

“101°.”

“Oh my God! We have to call Nadia.”

“I’ll call her.”

Marquise called and spoke to the twins’ pediatrician, who advised him to take the young Prince to the ER. 

“She said that we should take him to the ER, and she’ll meet us there.”

“Okay, I'll get him ready.” 

“And I'll let Mom know that we’re going to the ER.”

Shanelle nodded. Marquise noticed the worried look on her face. 

“It's gonna be okay.”

“I know. I just…” Shanelle trailed off. 

Marquise pulled her and Kylo close. 

“I know. So let's get ready.”

With that, Shanelle got Kylo changed while Marquise called a car and alerted his mother. 

“Oh, my poor little turtle dove. What do you two need me to do?” Margo asks. 

“Just be here with Zyon and Khari. I'll call you if it becomes anything more serious.” Marquise replied. 

“Alright. I'll call Shantel and let her know.”

“Thank you, Margo,” Shanelle said to her.

“Of course my dear. All that matters right now is my grandson’s health. Now you two go. Call me if you need anything.” 

Marquise nodded gratefully at his mother before he and Shanelle left for the hospital. On the way to the ER, Kylo became hysterical and didn't want to be in his car seat. So Marquise took him out and cradled him tight to his chest. 

“Shhhh! It's alright my love. It'll be alright.” he said trying to soothe his crying son. “I know you don't feel good. We’ll be there soon. I promise.” 

After a 20-minute car ride,  they finally got to the hospital and were ushered to a private room, where his pediatrician Dr. Nadia Sorvano-Rys, Marquise’s aunt, and the head of the ER were waiting. 

“Thank you for meeting us here Nadia.” 

Their pediatrician nodded. 

“I wish it were under better circumstances, nephew. Now let me introduce you both to Lord Dr. Grant Hadley head of the ER Department.” Nadia said as she introduced him to the royals, “Dr. Hadley, meet my great-nephew and his parents.”

Dr. Hadley bowed.

“Your Majesties. It's an honor to meet you and the Prince. And much like Dr. Sorvano said I wish it were under better circumstances.”

“It's a pleasure doctor,” Marquise replied. 

Dr. Hadley nodded. 

“Now that we've been introduced, let's see what's wrong with the little one,” Nadia said before smiling at a crying Kylo, “Oh you poor thing. I know you don't feel well. Well, that's why we’re here to make you feel better.”

Nadia looked at her parents. 

“May I?” she asked. 

Both parents nodded before Shanelle handed her son to Nadia who was not very happy about it. 

“Shhh! It's okay dear.” Nadia said to the Prince in a soft tone to soothe him, “There there. It will be alright. We're here to make you feel all better.”

As Nadia held Kylo, she looked over to his father and smiled. 

“I remember when you were this little,” she said to him. 

“I would hope so,” he replied. 

“Now my little Prince, let's see what's wrong hmm?” Nadia asked Kylo who had finally calmed down. 

After running a few tests it was determined that the Prince had a double ear infection. His parents were just grateful to have a diagnosis. While waiting for his medicine, the young Prince became restless, so his father decided to take him on a walk. While walking down the hall, he stopped by a nurses’ station to see where the hospital's solarium and playroom were. 

That's when he was informed that they were closed because of hospital budget cuts. While a nurse was able to open both for him and his son, he was not happy and would be meeting with the hospital board to discuss the issue. 

When the couple finally left the hospital they were informed that Kylo would require ear drops every 4-6 hours and children’s Tylenol every 8 hours for 10 days and he would see Nadia again in 7 days. 

Once back at the residence, both parents were exhausted but thankful their son would make a full recovery. 

The next few days Marquise found himself buried in the children's hospital budget for the fiscal year. He found most of the heads of every department and members of the Board Of Trustees received bonuses but the yearly 15% increase in worker pay had not been paid in nearly a year and a half. 

This led him to convene the hospital board to address the matter. After meeting with the board and being dissatisfied with their answer, Marquise fired the then Head of Trustees and imposed a reduction in pay for board members, as well as the reallocation of hospital funds to the proper channels to balance out the fiscal budget. 

When October rolled around, it was all about celebrating birthdays for the family. Starting with the Princess. 

Rather than have a big birthday celebration like her Daddy had originally planned, Khari opted for something low-key and quiet, she wanted to go apple and pumpkin picking at her father’s duchy. 

They took the two-hour drive from the palace to Duchy Anyango. When they arrived at the duchy mansion they were greeted by the head of the staff there. Margo’s sister-in-law Anna Rousseau. 

“Bonjour vos majestés!  C'est bon de te voir!” Anna said in French. 

“Bonjour Anna. C'est cool d'être ici.” Marquise replied. 

Anna also greeted him with a warm hug. 

“It's so good to have you all here. How are you, nephew?” 

“I'm doing well, Anna. How are you?” 

“I am well nephew. Come let me show you all to your rooms. Then I can have all the time to play with my great niece and nephews. Jean-Pierre will be here soon.” 

Once inside and settled, the family was joined by Jean-Pierre, the rest of Marquise’s extended family as well as the families of the house staff members. After a big family meal, Khari wanted to explore the mansion before they went to her father’s apartment for the night. Marquise took her and her brothers on a tour of the home. Regaling them in the wild stories of when he and their uncle would stay here with his mother. Showing them the hidden passages where he and Leo would hide when it was time to leave. 

They stopped when they got to Eleanor’s bedroom. Shanelle knew how hard it was for him to be there but she knew he wanted their kids to see it. 

“What room is this one Daddy?” Khari asked. 

“This is my mother’s room,” he replies. 

Khari looked up at the huge doors. 

“Can we see inside?” she asks. 

“Of course you can,” he replied. 

Marquise took a gold key out of his pocket and turned it over in his hand before using it to unlock the doors. The doors opened to show an elegantly kept bedroom with a huge 4-poster canopy bed in the center of the room. As the children and Shanelle walked in, Marquise stood in the doorway just looking inside. As much as it hurt to look around, he knew his children deserved to see their grandmother's bedroom. Khari noticed the look on his face. 

“Daddy?” she asked as she took his hand. 

That snapped him out of the trance he was in. 

“Huh? Yes my love?” he replied. 

“Are you okay?” she asks. 

Marquise sighed. 

“I will be my love.”

“Will you show us around Daddy?” she asked. 

“At once Your Highness,” Marquise replied with a bow that made Khari giggle. 

Marquise went around the room explaining everything and why nothing had really changed in the room. When he got to Eleanor’s closet, he paused for a second before opening the doors, to reveal many of her old dresses and her wedding gown. 

“It's so pretty,” Khari said as she looked at it. 

“Thank you, my love. It's being saved for you.”

Khari turned around to look at her father. 

“For me?” she asks. 

“Yes. It's my hope that when…if you ever get married, you'll wear it in her honor,” he replied. 

Khari smiled and nodded. 

“I will Daddy. For you.”

Marquise smiled just as Shanelle brought the boys over. 

“Boys look!” Khari said to her brothers, “That's gonna be my wedding dress when I get grown up.”

Shanelle raised an eyebrow at her husband. 

“I thought you were gonna wait until she turned 16 to show her your mother’s wedding dress.” 

Marquise shrugged. 

“Couldn't wait.” 

“Mommy look! Daddy said that's gonna be my wedding dress.”

Shanelle shook her head with a smirk. 

“Congratulations Your Majesty. You have officially put that thought into her head. And now she's gonna run with it.”

Marquise snickered. 

“Mission. Accomplished.”

That night as everyone got ready for bed Khari asked her dad if they could stay in her grandmother’s room for the night, and of course, the King couldn't say no. He and Shanelle watched their children drift off to sleep in his mother’s before getting ready for bed themselves. 

“You okay?” Shanelle asks him. 

Marquise took a deep breath. 

“I will be. I knew one day I would have to bring them here and show them. I'm just processing my emotions right now.” he replied. 

“I know how hard it is for you to be here without missing her. But I'm proud of you.”

Marquise smiled softly. 

“I wish she were here. If she had lived, this is where she would've retired to after we took the throne. She would've greeted us along with Anna. And she would've insisted on the children staying here with her. She would be reading them their favorite bedtime stories before putting them to bed.”

“I know.”

“She would have adored our children. She would've had them with her every weekend. We literally would have picked Khari up from school and then come here so she could be with them.”

Shanelle smiled. 

“I imagine they would be in town at the library with her. Running around and playing in the aisles while she read and kept watch on them from her little quiet corner. Then they'd go see Jean-Pierre at the butcher shop and then come back here, where she'd cook for them. It would be all our daughter would talk about.”

Marquise nodded. 

“I see so much of her, her love, and her spirit in our children. And I never want to let it go.” 

“I know.”

“Come on. It's time for us to get some sleep. We have a very big day tomorrow.”

Shanelle shook her head. 

“I can't believe our girl will be 6 tomorrow.”

“I know. She's a big girl now. Or at least that's what she always tells us.”

Shanelle just smiled. 

The next day was a very big day. It was Khari’s birthday. The couple could not believe their miracle baby was 6 years old. 

After a big birthday breakfast, it was off to Ferme Familiale Geaneaux to visit the apple orchard and pumpkin patch. The couple enjoyed watching their kids run around the orchard with their cousins. Playing amongst the pumpkins, apple trees, and bushes all over the farm. It was especially hilarious to watch the children pick out their pumpkins. Namely, Khari who was struggling to lift a pumpkin that was almost as big as her.

Her parents watched snickering the whole time. 

“Go help her,” Shanelle said to her husband. 

“Nope. She has to learn how to do things by herself. So I'm gonna let her figure this out on her own.” 

“You are so mean.”

Marquise scoffed. 

“Says the mother standing next to me laughing at our daughter.” 

They watched as their daughter tried every which way to lift the pumpkin until she finally gave up. 

“Daddy! I need help,” Khari said as she called out to her father. 

“I'll be right there my love,” Marquise replied. 

Shanelle shook her head as Marquise went over and retrieved the pumpkin that his daughter wanted. He then helped his boys pick out theirs. It was also hilarious and adorable to watch them try to carry their pumpkins. Once the pumpkins were picked it was time for apples. That meant Marquise would have to face down his arch-nemesis, the apple tree he fell out of, and broke his arm as a kid. 

“I hate this tree,” Marquise muttered. 

Margo and Shanelle groaned. 

“Oh my God!” 

“Son, will you please let that go? It's been years.” Margo said to him. 

“No, I will not let it go! This tree has always given me trouble!” Marquise replied. 

“It's a tree!” the two said to him. 

“I don’t care! It's still trouble!” 

“You act like something bad will happen again.”

“It might!” 

“It will not! Now go! The kids are waiting.”

Marquise grumbled before taking his kids to the tree. Sure enough, as His Majesty climbed down the ladder, he missed a rung and came crashing to the ground. Leaving everyone around him dying of laughter. None more than his wife and mother. 

“I HATE THIS DAMN TREE!” he proclaimed. 

After spending all day at the farm and orchard, it was time for Khari’s birthday dinner. Which had all of her favorite foods. Including her daddy’s spaghetti carbonara. 

“Daddy, can I help you make it?” she asked. 

“Of course my love. Since it's your birthday, I'll let you stir the egg yolks and cheese together. How about that?” he asks. 

“Deal!”

While Marquise got everything else started, Khari whisked the egg yolks and grated cheese together with all her might until her arms got tired. 

“How's that daddy?” she asked. 

“Perfect! And now…” he replies. 

“We mix it all together! 

“Exactly!”

Cooking with his daughter always reminds Marquise of the times he would cook with his mother. Once dinner was done and served, it was time for him to give Khari her birthday present. A custom-made diamond charm bracelet. 

“This is for me?!” she asks. 

“Yes, my love. It's for you,” he replies. 

“Thank you, Daddy! Thank you so much!” 

“You're more than welcome. Do you know what the charms on your bracelet mean?” he asks. 

Khari shook her head no. 

“They represent your grandparents. Can you guess which ones represent who?” he asked. 

“I can try.”

“Go ahead.”

Khari studied each of the charms.

“The stacks of books and the apple charms on the right are for Grammy and Pop Pop. Because Grammy is a teacher and Pop Pop is from Cordonia.”

“That's right. What about the two charms on the left?” he asked. 

She smiled when she looked at them. 

“The Dove is for Grammy Margo. Because that's her favorite bird. And the turtle…is for Grandpa George. Because he loved turtles. And would always read to me his favorite book about them.”

“And what about the two in the center?”

Khari looked at them thoughtfully. 

“The crown is for my Grandmother. And the shield is for my Grandfather.”

Marquise nodded before fastening the bracelet on her right wrist. 

“Happy Birthday my beautiful love. I will always be grateful and thankful for you,” he whispered to her. 

She looked up at him before throwing her arms around him and giving him the biggest hug she could manage. 

“I love you, Daddy.”

“I love you too, my sweet one. I will always love you. You will always be my little girl.”

To say Khari’s birthday weekend was a success was an understatement. And now it was time for the King to celebrate his own birthday. 

And what better way for Marquise to celebrate his birthday than in Las Vegas?

When he arrived in Vegas, he had one thing on his mind, having as much fun in the city of sin as humanly possible. And who better to do that with than Logan? 

When they arrived at the hotel they were taken to what is called the King Suite. Which is one half of the entire top floor of the hotel. Complete with a fully stocked kitchen and private chef, a laundry room, access to the rooftop pool and bar, a fitness center, a 24-hour private concierge, a fully decked out spa, and every individual bedroom is equipped with its own fully stocked mini bar. 

Shanelle spared no expense when designing her hotel. And the guys took advantage of it. They had dinner fit for a King at Asador. The new steakhouse at the hotel. When they got back to the floor both were fuller than a couple of ticks. 

“Man, I am stuffed. I ate like a pig.”

Marquise snickered as he poured them both a drink. 

“Pumbaa you are a pig.”

The two laughed as they shared a drink. 

“Dude you watch too many Disney movies.”

“Tell my daughter that.”

“Nope. I know she runs the show.”

“Like you wouldn’t believe.” 

Logan downed his drink before reaching the bottle.

“Man big sis does it again. This shit is smooth.”

“I mean have you seen the hotel?” Marquise asked. 

“True. I can’t wait for tomorrow. What are we doing for your birthday?” Logan replies. 

“One name: Las Vegas Motor Speedway.”

Logan’s face lit up. 

“Long live the King!” 

The next day was indeed the day of the King. After a huge breakfast, he and Logan were chauffeured to the speedway. When they got there they were greeted by the raceway owner and wee given the keys to two custom built Ferraris. 

“Am I dreaming?!” Logan asked. 

“Nope.” Marquise replied. 

“Good! Let’s go!”

The guys spent hours zooming around the track trying to out race each other. When they got back to the hotel they had massages waiting on them. After the massages and taking a dip in the rooftop pool the two were lounging in the living room of the suite. 

“This day can’t get any better.” Logan said. 

“Oh it’s about to because we have tables to conquer.” Marquise replied. 

A slow grin crossed Logan’s face. 

“About damn time!” 

Marquise cackled. 

“Let’s go.”

As Marquise got ready to leave he got a call from his wife. 

“Hey beautiful!”

“Hey you! Happy Birthday Handsome!”

Marquise chuckled. 

“Thank you gorgeous.”

“How is it?” She asks. 

“It’s amazing. We’ve had a blast.” He replies. 

“Wonderful. Thank you for being my guinea pig. And tell Logan I said thanks.” 

Marquise snickered. 

“Will do.”

That’s when Logan popped his head in. 

“You ready man? Let’s go!”

“Is that Logan?” Shanelle asks. 

“Hey big sis!” Logan replied. 

“You enjoying yourself baby bro?” She asks. 

“Yes! I love it here!” He replies. 

Shanelle smiled. 

“Good. Well I won’t keep you two. Have fun! And do not break anything!”

“Yes ma’am.” Marquise replies. 

“Logan! That goes for you too! No breaking anything. That includes the law! Got it?” Shanelle asks. 

“Yup. Scouts honor!” Logan replied. 

Shanelle scoffed. 

“Scouts honor? Fool you never even made it to a merit badge.”

Marquise cackled while Logan made a face. 

“Have fun you two!” She said before hanging up. 

Logan and Marquise looked at each other.

“Are we gonna listen to her?” Logan asks. 

“Mostly.” Marquise replies with mischief in his eyes. 

“And how will we do that sire?” Logan asks. 

“Elementary my dear Logan. We won’t be breaking anything. Only bankrupting every casino we come across.” Marquise replied. 

“Lead the way!”

The guys headed for the casino downstairs. They cleaned up nicely. Then moved on to the next hotel. Annihilating everyone that played against them. They took a break from playing to catch Usher in concert. 

“There are a lot of women here!” Logan said as he looked around. 

“And a lot of them are married.” Marquise quipped. 

That’s when Usher hit the stage. They enjoyed the performance and were able to get backstage and meet Usher. While Marquise was cool with him, Logan couldn’t stop mean mugging him. 

“Will you stop?” Marquise said to him. 

“No! This man tried to steal my wife!” Logan replies. 

Marquise rolled his eyes. 

“Get over it Logan!”

“No!”

“Logan! I paid a lot of money for these tickets! Do NOT get us thrown out of here!”

“Fine! But I still don’t like him!” 

“Fair enough.”

They spent the rest of the weekend wreaking havoc on various casinos and having a good time. That Sunday morning the guys were enjoying a big breakfast in their custom made robes. 

“Remind me to thank big sis.” Logan said.  

“You’re about to walk out of here in that robe aren’t you?” Marquise asks. 

“Absolutely! You see this?” Logan said pointing to the top of the robe, “The right says Logan, and the left says little brother. So you damn skippy I am!”

“Fair enough,” Marquise said with a chuckle.

“Did you get one?” Logan asks. 

“Of course. Mine said Daddy and Husband on the left. And King and Birthday Boy on the right.” Marquise replied. 

“Nice!”

“Thank you for hanging out this weekend.”

“Always brother. It’s always fun when we get together.”

“Indeed it is. We’ll do it again.”

“Definitely. The Princes’ birthday is coming up.”

The two clinked their glasses of Prosecco together. This was a very good birthday weekend for the King. Next up was Shanelle’s birthday. Much like her daughter she wanted something low key, so they went to her resort in Belize for her birthday. 

When Shanelle woke up on the morning of her birthday she was greeted by her husband’s smile. 

“Happy Birthday Gorgeous,” he whispered before kissing her softly.

“Thank you handsome,” she replied 

“Shall we head out on the patio for breakfast?” he asked. 

“In a few, I wanna lay here in your arms for a little while longer,” she replied. 

He pulled her closer. 

“As my Queen commands.” 

When they finally left the bed, breakfast was waiting for them. They spent that entire weekend, exploring the local town and cuisine, touring one of the private islands off the coast, snorkeling, and running along the beach. Having a quiet vacation celebrating her birthday, made Shanelle extremely happy. 

She wanted to save her excitement for the twins’ first birthday. Which was a week after her own. After hosting the annual Palace Halloween Party, it was time to celebrate the twins. 

The twins were turning one and the couple was thankful that all the party planning was left up to the staff at Lowyn Winery. The couple let their daughter pick the theme and she chose one of the boys’ favorite games, Super Mario Bros. Marquise flew into Los Angeles that Thursday before for the Time Magazine Top 100 Party. He used that night to meet and network with a lot of celebrities. 

Shanelle and the children flew in the night before and spent time with Bronwyn and her family. It is always a great time when the cousins get together the same was true about the parents. 

“I owe you and Lo so much for this,” Shanelle said to Bronwyn. 

“You know I love this. It's for the boys.”

Shanelle shook her head. 

“I can not believe that my babies will be one.”

“I understand completely. I remember feeling that way when Bran and Bray turned one. It doesn't feel real.”

“Nope. I look at them and still see these two tiny humans. And now they're walking or I should say running all over the place and trying to talk.”

“I get it.”

“Girl, our kids are growing up.”

“How do we stop it?” Bron asked. 

“When I figure that out I'll let you know,” Shanelle replied. 

The next day was the big day for the family. It was the Super Rys Bros Birthday Bash at the winery. The staff went all out to give the twins a birthday party to remember. 

Games, gift bags, goodies, and everyone in costume -much to His Majesty’s chagrin-. It was a fun time.  The twins enjoyed running after their sister, cousins, and friends. And they loved their cake. 

Whether it was Kylo’s excitement or curiosity, no one is really quite sure, but whatever it was, it caused him to dive face-first into the birthday cake, much to his mother's horror and his father's absolute delight. 

“Kylo! Baby no! You’re not supposed to kamikaze into the cake.” Shanelle fussed. 

Marquise looked at Logan. Logan looked at him. And both died laughing. 

When Kylo re-emerged he had a big smile on his face and hands full of cake as well as being covered. Shanelle just shook her head, shrugged, and laughed. 

“Have at it y'all. The cake is clearly up for grabs.”

Seeing her boys have a great time at their birthday party made the day perfect. And their birthday weekend wasn't even over yet. 

The family hopped on a flight to Boston to go watch The Patriots vs The Commanders game live. And to host the kids of the group homes that Marquise has been sponsoring for years. They met up with Tommy Mason, the director of the group homes, and his family. 

“Ohhh! It's my favorite royal jackass! He's finally come home!” Tommy teased. 

Marquise snickered. 

“Fuck you, Mason.”

The two embraced. 

“It's good to see you, man. Thank you for hosting the kids.” Tommy said to him. 

“Tommy, we've been doing this for years. It's always a pleasure.”

They spent the day at Gillette Stadium with all the kids. Meeting the players, the cheer squads, getting signed jerseys, footballs, and bears. As well as donating $3 million to the Patriots’ charitable foundation. And watched from Marquise’s 4 private boxes. It was his little ones’ first-ever live football game. And he wanted his babies to have an amazing experience. 

On the flight home to Cordonia, Shanelle watched over the children as they slept, and she couldn't help but get a little emotional and Marquise noticed. 

“Are you okay?” he asked as he sat next to her. 

She laid her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. 

“I will be. It's just hitting me that our boys will be one tomorrow. They're really here.” she replied quietly. 

He wrapped an arm around her. 

“It's okay my love. I know why you feel the way you do.”

“You do?” she asked. 

“Yes. Because you still miss him,” he replied. 

“I can't help it. Sometimes I get scared that he hates me for loving them.”

“Look at me, I swear to you with God as my witness, even now, he doesn't hate you. He doesn't hate me. He doesn't hate us.” Marquise said, speaking about the son they lost, “He knew your heart was incomplete. He knew that you have yearned to be with him for all these years. That is why he became our guardian angel. He is why we have our three miracle babies. Because he loves us. And he knows that we will always love him. Alright?”

Shanelle nodded. 

“I know that sometimes it's hard not to think about him whenever you look at them. To wonder what our lives would've been like had he lived. I understand that guilt. I live with it every day. Just like you. But I know in my heart that our babies are here for a reason. I know that he watches over all of us. And he loves us from afar.”

Shanelle smiled softly at him. 

“Thank you, baby. I needed to hear that. Like you said, sometimes it's just hard. I'll be fine.”

He kissed her forehead softly. 

“I know. I will always be here if and whenever you need me.”

“I know.”

He tilted her chin up so she could look him in the eye. 

“I love you. Never forget that.”

“I love you too handsome.” 

The next day was the twins’ actual birthday. And since the family had gotten back to Cordonia late, they decided to let Khari stay home for the day so she could celebrate her two baby brothers. 

The parents were getting the twins dressed when Zyon spoke his first word. 

“Touchdown!” the little Prince spoke as he played with football. 

Both of his parents froze. 

“Whaaat?”Shanelle asks. 

“I think���he just spoke,” Marquise replies. 

They looked at their son and waited for him to speak again. And sure enough, he spoke. 

“Touchdown!” he said again before tossing his football haphazardly across his crib. 

The parents looked at each other.

“Oh! My! God!” 

“My son’s first word is touchdown?!” Marquise asks. 

“Apparently,” Shanelle replies. 

The two started laughing, which made both twins giggle. 

“I swear. These two have never been more of a blessing to us.” 

Shanelle nodded. 

“Happy Birthday my babies,” Shanelle said as they held the boys close. 

Marquise smiled softly. 

“We are so grateful that we have you both. And you’re both healthy, happy, and loved by so many.” 

While having breakfast, an attendant came by with some news. 

“Pardon my interruption, Your Majesties. But I have some news for you,” the attendant said. 

They looked at each other. 

“Go ahead,” Marquise said to the attendant. 

“It's news about Her Majesty’s uncle King Edward. He's had a stroke and is currently in the hospital.”

The couple just looked at each other. Both were surprised but given who it was, they weren't all that shocked. 

“Are you sure?” Shanelle asked. 

“Yes ma'am. The news came in just a few minutes ago, from Queen Genevieve.” the attendant replied. 

“Is he stable?” she asks. 

“Yes ma'am. He's in a medically induced coma at the moment.” the attendant replie

Marquise studied the look on his wife’s face. 

“Thank you. That will be all.”

The attendant bowed before excusing himself. Khari was curious. 

“What happened to your uncle Mommy?” she asks. 

“He's gotten really sick,” Shanelle replies. 

“Oh. Will you go see him?” she asks. 

As much as Her Majesty wanted to say no, she knew she couldn't. 

“Yes, I will. But I have to tell Pop Pop about what happened to him first,” she replies. 

“If you want I'll tell him.”

“Thank you but no. He won't take the news from you well.” 

“Pop Pop’s gonna be so sad.” Khari quipped. 

“But that's why he has you and your brothers. To cheer him up.” 

Khari nodded. 

Shanelle sighed. 

“You stay here with them,” she said to her husband, “I have a phone call to make. Assuming Genevieve didn't beat me to it.”

Marquise nodded. 

“Good luck.”

“Yeah. I'm gonna need it.”

Shanelle excused herself to call her father and prepare him for what could be the worst about his brother.

Favorite thing about them: The way that Ranna speaks was designed for every ounce of my theater tendencies, and I love it. Yes, queen, throw in an extended metaphor and an insulting euphemism. Make that sentence five times longer than it needs to be.

Least favorite thing about them: ... Having to improvise those theatrical lines as the DM.

Favorite line: All the insults. But really, the answer is something she said as the party was ramping up to go north and defeat the prince of frost. Forgive my terrible memory, it was improv multiple years ago, but it was something like, "If you are bound to face this evil, then what meager help a poet can offer, you will have. Friends and heroes, I travel with you."

Brotp: I enjoyed the rivalry between Ranna and Oliver. They bickered, they didn't respect each other, but nonetheless they had a kind of professional understanding and party loyalty. Sibling behavior.

Otp: Against all campaign and player designs, OriRanna bloomed wild in our hearts~. Oh for a burdened, genuinely good hero and the scribe who knows how the story must end but will not leave her side. I'll never be over it.

Notp: We haven't run into any. Probably Ranna/the nice young man her parents hoped she would marry.

Random headcanon: Ranna's singing voice is no good! Shocking for a bard but true; it's why she sticks to instruments and poetry. She can carry a tune, and her technique is simple but sound. But her tone is dark and brassy. She's just never going to sing prettily.

Favorite thing about them: Char's flexibility makes her really fun to play in Situations. She's far more practical than proud. If her plan is shit, then she'll ditch it. If she needs to do something tedious or unimpressive, fine, that's her job now. She doesn't need to come out of it looking cool as long as she comes out of it.

Least favorite thing about them: I do not know how to get this woman a happy, conclusive ending.

Favorite line: I am a little stuck on the wack laugh I produced when Ledo asked, "Char... did you kill someone?"

Brotp: The great part about this party is the amount of potential in this sphere. Char already likes these losers all right. But will she form that unbreakable bond with anyone? More news in 2024!

Random headcanon: How about a random fact? If the party had left the Fenston estate with business concluded and that poor bastard had still been strung up for thieving, Char would have slit his throat on the way out.

1. Why do you like this ship?

steve was my favorite character before eddie showed up! and eddie is now my favorite character! so that's one of the reasons, just me getting my two blorbos and making them kiss lmao like two lil barbie dolls i wasn't in the ST fandom before s4 so i didn't ship anything besides the canon ships, like jancy, lumax and jopper. so what really compelled me to ship steddie was seeing other people's takes on them, reading fics and seeing fanarts before s4 none of the other steve ships were, like, great. none of them was 100% healthy, stancy didn't work canonically for a good reason, stonathan- i mean jonathan punched steve in the face; and the most popular one... i won't even talk about that LMAO yikes. but eddie is a character that, canonically, never mistreated steve and that just makes steddie the best ship for me. i do enjoy other steve ships, i am a multishipper after all, but i think steddie is my OTP because it's a ship that would actually work out in canon if it ever happened it's not the only one - i actually think stargyle and cheerscoops would THRIVE, but i also like eddie more, so. that's just me flattering myself DKSJDKJSJD but also it's the one ship with characters that we saw interacting, and that makes it more palpable to me. unfortunately we won't get to see any canon cheerscoops interactions, RIP my queen chrissy. but here's hoping we'll have some good stargyle ones in s5!! oh wow that was an essay

5. If they had pets what would they be?

oooh good question. again, projecting myself a little here, i think they'd both love all animals equally! but. they both have more of a 'dog dads' energy imo. they'd have one of each: a big athletic dog that steve can take on walks and runs and train her, and for eddie to cuddle and hug like she's a huge stuffed animal. and a tiny dog that stays the whole day lying down, not necessarily a lap dog, maybe just a luker y'know. one of those that lies down right beside you, touching your legs but not on top of you. he's great quiet company, and daddie's lil prince. eddie would also love to have a lizard. not sure he'd get one though skkskdkd
