Requests are: OPEN
Characters: Will Ospreay, Reader
Prompt: May I request a Will Ospreay x Reader, where wrestler fem!reader is concerned and tries to calm down Will after the scare for Bryan Danielson due to the Tiger Driver 91? Fluff pretty please.
AN: I know you didn't say anything about them having a kid, but I thought it would be appropriate.
Tumblr media
You are sitting at the commentary table, while your husband - and father of your little bundle of joy - is having a match against Bryan Danielson. The more the match goes, the more you are in awe: they work so good together and they are both doing their best to pull off the match the fans want.
The end of the match draws near and Will set up for the Tiger Driver 91, but something is clearly off. From your position, you can clearly see Bryan Danielson falling completely on his head, in a strange way, immediately clutching his neck in pain. You gasp and stand up for a moment, a hand going to the headphone to take it off, but you wait as the match closes and the American Dragon gets help from medical team.
At that moment you finally take the headset off, getting into the ring with your husband, looking back at Bryan, worried.
"What happened???" Will asks you, once he finally realizes what is going into the ring.
"He hurt himself, his neck." You say, knowing that once he discovers what hurt him, it'll break his heart.
You all help him back and when Bryan is safely in the doctors' hands, you are quick to follow Will. You can clearly see his wide eyes, the frantic rasing of his chest and almost can barely keep up with him, as he runs towards the back exit of the Arena.
You kneel in front of him, slowly putting a hand on his knee, so that he can look at you at his own pace.
"Follow my breathing, babe." You breathe slowly and deep, which he does as well, until he is calm.
"I almost killed or paralyzed him." He starts saying, his body shaking. He raises and opens his arms, silently asking for a hug.
"You didn't, babe. It could have happened with anyone, it's not entirely your fault, just a bad landing." You embrace him and whisper those words, keeping him tight against you.
"Because of me he almost couldn't go back to his family and hold his kids in his arms. We have our little bundle of joy as well and it would kill me if I wasn't able to do that anymore." He sighed, holding onto your t-shirt like a lifeline. "Was it the Tiger Driver? Or the Hidden Blade? Damn, I haven't realised it! No matter which one it has been." He hides his face in his hair, some tears pricking at his eyes.
"..." You still wouldn't want to answer, but he'll eventually know it. "The Tiger Driver." You draw circles on his back, humming a song he loves.
"I'll retire it. I can't live with the thought of having risked him such a bad injury." He states, while standing up.
"Maybe at a later time you can find a way to protect your opponents. We can find a way together." You kiss him on the forehead and stand up as well. "Let's go back to our Isabelle, shall we? I'll treat both of you to your favorite restaurant, but first you need a shower, Mister."
You chuckle and follow Will inside, till you get to your locker room. Instead of getting inside, you watch Will and her hug and being sweet, letting them have some alone time, after the bad experience.

Family Time | W.O.
Tumblr media
Summary: Hi I was wondering if you can write a Will Ospreay x reader where Will and reader are married and they have son or daughter who reader brings to AEW so Will and reader and can family time together?
Author's Note: Requested.
Tag List: @plentyoffandoms
Pure fiction. ❤️
"Oi! Where do you think you're going?" Will yelled down the hallway. You had looked away for half a second and off your son, Henry, went. He squealed loudly and giggled. His dirty blonde hair bounced on the top of his head as he tried to run fast. The little green track suit he wore matched his father. Will looked at you and smiled a big toothy grin. With a few big steps, he managed to scoop his son in his arms.
"Mother is going to have to put a leash on ya, eh?" He asked and kissed his son's cheek. The little boy squirmed in delight and reached for his mother. You took him in your arms.
"I told you he is quite the little scamp. Got it from his father," you winked. Will smiled and rubbed his hand over his son's head.
"Just wanted some time with my misses and the little Henry. Can't blame a man for trying," he defended and played with his son while you held him. Henry giggled and scrunched his neck to avoid his father from tickling him.
AEW happened to be in New York that night. Will begged you to come with him to America for some family time. He loved wrestling, but he loved his family more. You begrudgingly agreed, and now a 2 year old was running the two of you ragged.
Earlier in the day, Will showed off his son to anyone and everyone in the back. After the introductions, they practiced wrestling moves together in the ring. Henry loved pinning his father and other wrestlers who happened to want to play. After a brief nap back at the hotel, he hadn't stopped.
"Well, this misses is happy to be here. We should go find our seats," you smiled and kissed his lips. You wished him good luck. Your son hugged his dad as Will kissed the top of his head.
Henry was in awe at his first AEW event. You made sure to put headphones over his ears to avoid being scared from the fireworks and other loud noises. Once his father came out, he couldn't contain his excitement. He clapped his hands and smiled. His little legs kicked wildly as you held him.
Will walked up to the barrier and kissed you. He kissed his son's forehead and made it to the ring. He was cutting a promo for his match coming up against the American Dragon Bryan Danielson. The crowd seemed to enjoy the promo. His music played once again as he left to the back.
He grabbed Henry from you and placed him in front of him on the ramp. The father and son duo displayed his father's famous signature with their hands in the air. You smiled and took a picture of the two of them with your phone. Will grabbed his son and placed him on his shoulders. They disappeared in the back. Within a few minutes, you were escorted to the back. The sight melted your heart.
Will held Henry in his arms as he leaned against the wall. The poor boy fast asleep from the busy day. His tiny head rested on his dad's shoulder. The proud father rubbed his son's back.
"Thank you for doing this," he spoke and stared in your eyes. "I know it must be hard with him at home and now with him here,"
You smiled and kissed him softly. "I think we may be able to do this more often. Family time is so important,"

This show ruled. Full disclosure, I've fallen behind with NJPW in the last couple of years, and only really get to fully see the major shows, so going in this looked like a solid little card on paper, so my expectations weren't exactly sky high. However, the New Japan crew knocked it out of the park with an excellent, Show of the Year contender. Things started as they always do: The annual "cram everyone humanly possible onto the card" Rambo. We all know what to expect here, and this was better than a lot of previous offerings, but the surprise appearance of Fujita "Jr" Hayato in this years really raised it up for me, as I'm always super pleased to see him back in the ring after all he's been through. Takashi Iizuka turning up was also a nice surprise (absence makes the heart grow fonder, and all that), and it was a kick to be transported back to 2013 with him mercilessly going after poor Shimpei Nogami on commentary. The ending though was very deja vu, as I could have sworn some incredibly similar variant of this was the outcome last year. The final four of Great-O-Khan, Taiji Ishimori, YOH and Toru Yano advanced to face off for the KOPW Title tomorrow.
The main show started in style with the prerequisite Jr Tag Title Match, which featured TJP debuting his new demon gimmick, The Aswang, because he was locked in a casket when last we saw him, you see. My English feed froze at the opening bell on the Aswang mask for ages, and by the time I'd gotten back onto the Japanese feed, I'd missed like three minutes of this, there were brawls all over ringside, The Aswang was wearing a dog collar, and Moloney was bleeding. The final 5 or so minutes I did see were pretty damn good though, so that's what my rating is based on. TJP got this win for him and Akira after he blew the dreaded Dokukiri into Drilla's face, then Catch 22 hit the double knees to regain the titles at 9:38. Next up, President Tanahashi put an end to the 365 day TV Title reign of ZSJ in an excellent 8:53 sprint. These guys always have excellent matches together, and this was no exception. They worked a fast-paced thriller, which boiled down to them hitting a sequence of cradle reversals, before Tana counter a Zack Victory Roll into one of his own, and won the belt to a big pop. President Ace thanked everyone for coming in the post match, and wished us all a Happy New Year. Godly.
Career rivals Tsuji and Uemura had their first non-Young Lion outing on a major show next. This was a very good little match, I've always been high on both guys since they were rookies, and I firmly believe they have incredibly bright futures in New Japan, and are destined to be focal points in the years to come. Even though I do wish they'd do more with Yota. The guy came in super hot, with a ton of hype, and now he's kinda just floundering in the mid-card. And more mid-carders is most certainly not something this company needs! They always have really good matches, so add this one to that list, which ended at just under 11 minutes, when Uemura got the much needed win with his beautiful Deadbolt suplex. Fellow future superstar Shota Umino drove into Tokyo Dome on a motorbike to start his and partner, NOAH "Ace" Kiyomiya's tag match against HoT goons EVIL and Ren Narita next. This was going along really nicely, the three young guys all looked great, and the crowd were very much into, until the standard shenanigans started, which lead to a fairly abrupt finish, which saw Narita deck Umino with a steel plated push-up bar, then score the pin with his Double Cross finish at the 7 minute mark.
The fifth bout saw company MVP Shingo defend the NEVER Title against Tama Tonga in a hard-hitting war, which was by far the best match on the show up to this point. The near 30K in attendance were going crazy for this as they hit all their big spots, massive Lariats and Gun Stun counters. After Takagi scored a great near fall with Made in Japan, Tama went to the Bullet Club well, hitting a Gun Stun, Bloody Sunday AND a Styles Clash, before putting Shingo away with the DSD at 13:46 to claim his 4th NEVER Championship. Excellent stuff here, though seemingly Tama announced afterwards that he's finishing up with the company at the end of the month, so him winning is an... interesting decision. The double Tag Title match followed, which was a rematch of the Tag League Final between Bishamon and GoD. This was another great match, a fun sprint which saw the STRONG Champions win both sets of belts after ELP hit Goto with CRIII, and Hikuleo came off the top with a massive, but very unattractive, Big Splash to win the belts in 9:47. Just before this match, Nic Nemeth (the former Dolph Ziggler) and his brother Ryan turned up to sit at ringside. I think we all know there's some kind of angle coming here.
Speaking of career rivals, Hiromu and Despy faced off for the Jr. Heavy Title in the next bout. We've seen many versions of this match in recent history, and they're pretty much always excellent, so this fit that mould no doubt. Things started hot as Despy hit Hiromu with a Tope con Giro as he made his entrance, and they worked 100 mph from there. The challenger worked over the champions leg to set up the Numero Dos, but it wasn't to be. The finish saw Desperado escape the Hiromu Roll, then hit a Jay Driller, kept a hold and nailed Takahashi with a second Pinche Loco to win the strap at the 14:21 mark to end another great outing. We crowned an inaugural IWGP Global champion next, as Ospreay, Moxley and Finlay had a wild Triple Threat Match. This started with Mox and Ospreay agreeing to work together for the first 5 minutes in order to take out Finlay, then turn their attention on each other, before BC War Dogs Alex Coughlin and Gabe Kidd ran in. The babyfaces rallied a comeback though, which saw Ospreay put the invaders through tables with a Swanton Bomb to the outside, and Moxley took a post bump and gigged himself. Which I'm sure will shock many. The finishing stretch was insanely hot as Mox kicked at one from a Hidden Blade, but was put down with Stormbreaker, only for Finlay to hit Ospreay with his new Overkill finish, which is essentially a Brainbuster into a Go 2 Sleep, to become the inaugural Global champion in 22:17. In the post match, Finlay got into a shoving match and pull-apart with Nic Nemeth at ringside, which culminated in Nemeth chasing him to the back. So that looks to be Finlay's first title programme. Finlay going over was 100% the right call, with Ospreay leaving as a full-timer, they need to start making some top guys, and he's a good place to start.
Semi final time, and a true dream match next as Okada faced Danielson in a match I'd spent a good decade fantasy booking. After their slightly disappointing first encounter at Forbidden Door in June, due in no small part by Dragon legit breaking his arm during it, they came out with a lot to prove. And they certainly didn't disappoint this time as they had a superb wrestling encounter based around aggression and emotion. As anyone who's been watching Danielson since the ROH days can attest, when Bryan has a grudge with someone (Morishima, Nigel), he goes all out with the intensity, and it usually produces classics. The pacing, the limb-work, the storytelling, the drama... everything about this was essentially perfect. After Okada broke Danielson's arm in their previous match, Dragon obsessively set out to do the same here. And it lead to his downfall. The American Dragon was coming into this one with a fractured orbital bone, so Okada worked over that for a while too. Okada kicked out of a Busaiku Knee, Danielson locked on the same arm submission he tapped Okada out with at Forbidden Door, but The Rainmaker made the ropes. Dragon then stomped his f'n head in and locked in the LeBell Lock, only for Okada to hit a Rainmaker, but he was in too much pain from his devastated right arm, and couldn't make the cover. Danielson hit a big head kick and another Busaiku Knee, but rather than go for the cover, he elected to do the "Yes!" gimmick in the corner, and try another knee, but Okada hit an Emerald Flowsion, a Landslide, then another Rainmaker to fall on top of Dragon, and score the surprise win at the 23:24 (which it felt half of, by the way). This was a masterpiece, and I was legitimately shocked when the three count came. I could have watched this for an hour, it left me very much wanting a rubber match, and this is easily the best match of 2024 so far. They bowed to each other and shook hands in the post match.
The Keiji Muto fan club imploded in the main event as former LIJ stablemates Naito and SANADA (who was even dressed like Muto circa 1995), battled for the World Title. This was an excellent match, one that I didn't have a massive amount of interested in going into this show, but they had a really great clash. It's worth mentioning that something happened to SANADA here, I don't know if it was the biceps injury he's been dealing with since G1, or if he seperated his shoulder or something, but he was in noticeable discomfort through this, and it let to some wonky botches near the finish. They tried multiple times to do a Destino counter, but they couldn't pull it off. SANADA hit Dead Fall for the double down, then an Asai DDT, but Naito escaped a second Dead Fall attempt, and went for Valentia, but SANADA countered into an O'Connor Roll for a super close near fall. A Shining Wizard followed, but Naito turned another Dead Fall attempt into one of his own, finally hit Valentia, then finished the champion off with Destino to win his first World title at 25:42. It's worth pointing out that they clashed heads on the way down on the Destino, and Naito got busted open pretty bad over his eye. With Naito having finally won again in the main event of Tokyo Dome, he was about to Finish His Story, when EVIL and Dick Togo, of all people, ran-in in an attempt to ruin things like KENTA did in 2020. However, they hadn't bargained on SANADA, who nailed his former tag partner with a Shining Wizard, and Naito sent Dick packing with a low dropkick. SANADA then let Naito finish the story a decade in the making, and do his "De-Ja-Pon!!!" roll call to end the show and send everyone home happy. Whilst I applaud NJPW for giving SANADA a go, or just giving ANYONE NEW a shot at the top of the card (it's been very Groundhog Day for a long time up there, and this is something I've been encouraging since NAito at WK8!), I don't think it payed off liked they'd hoped. SANADA is a very good worker, and amazing athlete, but he's just missing something that would make him that major star. Which is obviously something Naito has in abundance, so I'm very pleased he got his big win here, as it was pretty much last chance saloon.
This was a tremendous card, not quite as good as last year's, I don't think, but still great, great stuff and well worth checking out. Especially the Okada/Danielson match!

wrestling opinions
i got so extremely GRUMPY in the last two months even THINKING about that specific section of the iwc that was so adamantly fantasy booking swerve to lose to ospreay at all in (or even before wembley!) that i haven’t been in the mood to fantasy book feuds for swerve during his reign, or think about who will be the one to end it. but now that things are safe, i wanna get into some of all that!!
potential to take the title off him:
hangman. ok listen i see the people going “i dont want swerve’s reign to be all about hangman :/” and i hear love and respect you but i am not that strong. i know theyve already wrestled half a dozen times. they need to do it again and they need to fight forever and they need to be put into a dysfunctional tag team against their will a la adamjf and swerve needs to ask where hangman’s wedding ring went and hangman needs to ask what swerve’s necklace with the letter “A” means and i need them to make out sloppy style in the middle of the ring. anyway where was i. oh yeah the fantasy booking. so okay if hangman wins the owen, he faces off against swerve in wembley. wembley’s too soon for swerve to lose the belt, but, all in 2023 ended on a happy note maybe all in 2024 should end on a BAD note where half the fans go home pissed off. if that’s the case then i need hangman to do some real scumbag heel shit before that time. if hangman loses at wembley, i can still see him coming back AGAIN another few months down the line, maybe having a little redemption arc before, and finally beat him.
bryan danielson. here’s the only actual prediction in this entire post: i think if bryan wins the owen, he wins the title off swerve (against his will lol) and he loses it to swerve again in a rematch at wrestledream.
eddie kingston. FUCKING hell. i genuinely felt they were building to him being a serious title contender sometime in the not-so-far future when he lost all three of his belts in quick succession. i am so sad that he got injured. i am still holding out hope that he takes the belt off swerve somewhere way far down the line.
feuds that seem fun:
moxley. i may die if i never see them feud properly. though i don’t want mox near the world title and swerve absolutely doesn’t need the put-over-by-moxley treatment, so this one would maybe be more fun *after* he loses the title.
orange cassidy. fuck should i move this one to the first category? i dont really see him as a serious title contender but maybe i should?
jay white. pleaaase this would be so fun.
wheeler yuta. i am smushing my faves together like barbie dolls in my head and no one can stop me.
keith lee. praying to whatever god is listening that he is healthy enough one day.
nick wayne. yes again. idk i just think itd be funny.
wildcards:
miu watanabe. she would put him in a giant’s swing and he would enjoy it.
jeff jarrett. do not ask for whom the bree woos; it woos for thee.
willow nightingale. if aew ever does real intergender matches and this isn’t the first on the schedule, they’ve fucked up majorly.
jamie hayter. bryan danielson finds out about the nefarious plot where he wins the belt at wembley and walks out last minute seething from the disrespect. jamie hayter was slated for a surprise run-in after mariah beats toni for the belt later in the main event, but she is a surprise opponent for swerve taking bryan’s place.
thekla. au where swerve becomes an idol (barely an au tbh he’s halfway there) and together with nana he’s out of control with the hand signals and the dances so someone calls up the idol killer.
feuds that seem inevitable that i’m not excited about: chris jericho mjf malakai black. probably others

Real talk though, I normally turn the volume off when MJF does one of his 10 minute monologues and I didn’t last night because I was crocheting so I just couldn't bother, and there was a lot more going on there that I hope people are noticing. If you have been anywhere other than Tumblr in wrestling spaces you have to have noticed that the tribalism recently between WWE and AEW has been HUGE. It's gotten nasty. It's always been there, but it got a lot worse when Copeland jumped the WWE ship for AEW, and then it got WAY worse when Ospreay signed with AEW instead of WWE. And now with recent events from Brawl Out? It's gotten HORRIBLE. (But watching dudebros tie themselves in knots trying to argue that they all hate Bryan Danielson now has been hysterical.)
One of the things I really love about AEW is how everyone gets to go off the cuff. I find it HILARIOUS every time one of them gets smacked with a fine because they said something on TV that censors couldn't bleep out fast enough. So I don't know how much last night MJF did on his own without running by someone, but there were several pointed things that came up I highly suspect are in response to a lot of the recent buzz. I would be VERY surprised if MJF hasn't signed a new contract or made a verbal promise to stay after last night: it was very much a stake hammered down on where he stands. It was definitely one of the more unsubtle spots he has had, and I don't like MJF, but I admit, I liked where he was going.

My AEW Revolution 2024 Predictions
I am so excited for this ppv and I have to much energy on myself so, deal with it
Tumblr media
Tornado Tag Match Sting's Last Match - Darby Allin & Sting (AEW Tag Team Champions) VS Golf Trainers- oh sorry- AEW EVP'S Matthew & Nicholas Jackson
Let's start with the cherry on the top, I am so ready to cry on this match, even knowing that most likely Sting will appear again on AEW but not wrestling again
But for sure, 100% that the not Young Bucks anymore will win this match - I mean if its Sting's last match will Darby defend both belts alone?? I mean he is capable of it. but come on, one last match of this amazing tag team against the non Young Bucks is the perfect finish for this era
AEW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Samoa Joe (C) VS Swerve Strickland VS Hangman Adam Page
Everyone is imagining that it will Swerve versus Hangman and Samoa Joe will be like third wheeling or something like that
this one will be pretty intense both men fighting for the gold and Samoa Joe defending it
I really want Swerve to win it but I think Samoa Joe will retain it, I mean it's the first ppv that he defends it
AEW WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - "Timeless" Toni Storm (C) VS Deonna Purrazo
Besides the Zero Hour one with Kris and Willow versus Julia Hart and Skye Blue, this is the only women´s match on the ppv..........come on AEW, your women's division is so freaking powerful and you still don´t know how to properly promoted, and we are on the International Women's month, come on......
I think Deonna Purrazo will win it for sure, but if Toni retains it I am so excited to see how this feud will keep going, because this feud was so well played, I am more than seated for this match
AEW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Orange Cassidy (C) VS Roderick Strong
It has to be Orange Cassidy, if it isn´t I will shave my eyebrows
Roderick Strong is being too annoying for Orange it has to be our denim and thumbs up man
AEW CONTINENTAL CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP - Eddie Kingston (C) VS Bryan Danielson
I am a bit uncertain with this one, but I think Eddie will retain it
and what an hell of a match this will be
Will Ospreay VS Konosuke Takeshita
another one that I am have no clue too who might win
but I guess Will Ospreay
TNT CHAMPIONSHIP - (Pro Pokemon Hunter) Christian Cage (C) VS Daniel Garcia
I am so excited for this one
But still for how much I would like to see Daniel with the gold, I am 100% sure that the Patriarchy will mess with this match
But its more than time for Daniel to be a champion (again)
FTR VS Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli
I am also unsure about this one, just to be different
But I think Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli will win it
ALL STAR 8-MAN SCRAMBLE - Dante Martin VS HOOK (FTW Champion) VS Brian Cage VS Magnus VS Chris Jericho VS Powerhouse Hobbs VS Brian Cage VS Wardlow
yes I am pretty HOOK biased but I dont think he will win this one, even tho I am an huge fan of this fighting big dudes agenda
also 2/5 of the Lads fighting each other
also 3/5 of Team Taz fighting each other
I think it will be more between Hobbs and Wardlow for sure, after yesterday's Collision
Zero Hour: Kris Statlander & Willow Nightingale VS Julia Hart (TBS Champion) & Skye Blue
I am so excited for this one!!!
I think it will be Kris and Willow, in my mind if it Julia and Skye Blue, I think Willow will possibly turn on Kris idk why
Zero Hour: 12 MAN TAG MATCH - Bang Bang Scissor Gang VS Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, Private Party & Willie Mack
Come on it has to be Bang Bang Scissor Gang because they are Bang Bang Scissor Gang!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Anyway, what do you guys think?? Pls talk to me-

all out predictions?
I would LIKE Pac to win but I don't know they'd allow Ospreay to drop the belt so fast so I'm assuming he'll win! Wondering if Grizzled Young Vets will take umbridge at Ospreay insulting Northern accents and get involved after the match to aid Pac. A slight chance of one of them bleeding during the match
I'm thinking if Yuta and Claudio win the tag match, it'd single Mox out even more as the only member of the BCC without a title when Yuta & Claudio are double champs and Bryan is Literally World Champion which could be very interesting considering Mox hasn't commented on the events of All In so far. It'd also really add to the strange dynamic of Mox being caught weirdly between the EVPs and the BCC right now. A small chance of one of them bleeding
I feel like Willow is gonna win the street fight if someone gets involved to keep Stokely at bay (it'd be cool if it was Orange) and I'm not sure if she's an official member but a Conglomeration sweep would be very fun to me (once again I feel like the original plan for this would've been Willow & OC VS Kris & Trent in a street fight, and my hope would've been for Sue to drop off Willow and Orange then flip off Trent and Kris for their behaviour) Almost certainly one (if not both) of them bleeding
I do think OC could turn on people, I HOPE it doesn't happen yet if he's going to since the Conglomeration have a great thing going. Briscoe I'm assuming won't win since he's already got his ROH title, I'll be honest I don't think AEW would put gold on Takeshita (sadly) and with Jericho making a huge deal about OC's backpack I'm gonna assume he's taking the win (and if the EVPs drop the tag titles that frees up them and Okada to go after the trios belts sometime if they wanted) Briscoe has shown excellent dedication to the cause and since he'll have a barely begun to heal wound, a decent likelihood of him (and possibly others) bleeding during this match
I don't know if we'd see MJF lose matches on back to back PPVs but I can only imagine he'd handle it sooo well and definitely not lose his mind :) just in time for Adam Cole to be returning from injury in the not too distant future :) Danny getting a win and MJF getting fuel for his fire would be cool, even if I generally think MJF > Garcia! Since MJF is ringless, there's a nonzero chance of the lack of ring being highlighted by Wardlow showing up and helping Danny out which could open up some interesting avenues. If MJF VS Danny doesn't have one or both of them bleeding, I will be shocked and saddened
Shida is almost certainly not going to win but I hope she gets to show how great she is. I'm assuming both her and Mercedes will have cosplay inspired ring gear, I'm guessing Shida will stick with Yakuza but I can't guess what Mercedes would pick! I am assuming Kamille may make an appearance for pre/post match shenanigans since she's banned from ringside not the venue.vOf all the matches this is least likely to have blood
I truly hope we see Jack use some of the more Jungle Boy style movements in the match against Bryan just because I think it'd be such a good fit with Danielson's style of wrestling. I don't think Bryan will drop the title because I think he's gonna drop at Wrestledream next month in his home state, then announce his own plan for his retirement. Possible that the Darby and Mox thing will become relevant at the end of the match if Mox shows up? There could be blood, there should be blood because Bryan is a sicko and it's what he would want.
I don't know who is going to win out of Hanger and Swerve because it truly feels like it could go either way, part of me hopes Swerve so we can see how truly insane Hangman can get :) Part of me feels like this could lead to a strickpage tag team match at Wrestledream (give Swerve a cool hometown moment, and let's be real that'd be a dream match for so many people at this point regardless of who they're up against) I am hoping they use the unsanctioned match to weave in nods to their own feud so far, I think they should try setting each other on fire, I think Swerve should hit Hanger with a brick from his childhood home that Hangman torched and I think there's a fair chance of Hanger trying to kill Nana in order to force Swerve to give in. Highly likely we get Hangman trying to hang Swerve with barbed wire due to the nature of the match. This match will leave the ring looking like the corridor in the shining and I cannot wait
I assume since he's the only member of the BCC not on the card Mox will make an appearance, since it seems he and Marina are working their way through anyone in AEW with increasing frequency until they get Darby, and Mox went out of his way to address the person Darby just feuded with culminating at All In but hasn't really commented on his stablemates winning titles at the same event
Edit to add: Darby's hoodlum drop coming down at midnight the day leading into the PPV is interesting timing when you think about him posting the "all profits go towards Darby's funeral" flyer so I wonder if he'll take his loss in a coffin match seriously enough that he considers himself full dead not half dead and so starts painting his full face from now on

Revolution rocked so hard. My first live wrestling show in seven years, and I couldn't have picked a better one.
I cannot believe I got to see one of my all-time favorites Roddy Strong win a championship with my own two eyes!!!! I yelled like a crazy person when the ref counted three. No one deserves it more!!!!!! I loved his match with Orange here. That top turnbuckle backbreaker sent me over the edge. Also cannot believe that after over a year and a half, I happened to be there on the night that the great Kyle O'Reilly made his return!!!!! I have waited so long. What a moment that whole sequence of Roddy winning the International title and Kyle showing up was for me.
Ospreay vs. Takeshita was truly incredible. I was freaking out the whole time, but I absolutely lost it when Ospreay took that disgusting brainbuster on the top turnbuckle, and then Takeshita got dropped on his head with Ospreay's nasty Tiger Driver '91 toward the end. Easy match of the year contender and possible five star match. I have to watch it back.
This was my second time seeing FTR live. They are still the best tag team in the world and wrestled a fantastic match against Claudio and Moxley. Claudio looked great here as well. I was so excited to get to see him work. But seeing FTR not only lose, but lose in our great state of North Carolina by being choked out??? Revolting. I could have thrown up. What kind of booking is this???
This was my first time ever seeing Bryan Danielson kick heads in live, and I was just thrilled. He is incredible, nothing short of a legend, and his match against Eddie was great.
Also my first time seeing Samoa Joe live, and it was so awesome getting to see him walk in and out as world champion and getting to hear him light people up with chops. So glad he retained. Swerve and Hangman were very good in the match as well. Swerve deserves a run with the title soon, but it wasn't time yet, and it doesn't need to happen in anything other than a one-on-one match anyway.
Finally, I feel so beyond lucky and privileged to have witnessed Sting and Darby going absolutely off-the-rails insane in Sting's last match ever. This match was filled with awesome spots -- Sting going through two tables (and no-selling the second table bump beautifully) and being thrown into glass in the corner of the ring, then Darby literally trying to kill himself by Swanton bombing himself off a 20 foot ladder inside the ring and through two panes of glass set up on chairs outside. I mean truly, wtf is wrong with him?? It's one of those spots that no one will ever forget. The Young Bucks played their antagonistic role phenomenally, getting heat from the audience like no other team could. Having Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat at ringside was awesome as well. I couldn't be happier that Sting got the end to his career that he deserved. Loved seeing him make his entrance with his sons dressed as different versions of Sting and hearing him give his retirement speech after the match. It was all so special, and I'm so glad I got to be there for it.
Also shout-outs to Jay White, Daniel Garcia (the rightful TNT champion), Christian Cage, Jay Lethal, and Kris Statlander, who were all fantastic. What a show!!!!!!

Tumblr media
Swerve Strickland vs. Adam Page - This is billed as a lights out steel cage match. So a metal frame will be set up around the ring to surround it with chain link fencing. The only way to win the match will be by pinfall or submission--other than that, anything goes. The "lights out" part just refers to an old tradition where they'd briefly turn out the lights to mark the "official" end of the show, and then do an "unsanctioned" match where the promotion responsible for what the wrestlers do to one another. (Also, the match won't count on AEW's win-loss records, so the loser often tries to act like it didn't happen, which makes it hard for this type of match to really settle anything.)
These two began feuding on September 6, 2023. I was going to recap the entire violent history of the feud, but in the end it's real real simple. On October 25, Strickland broke into Page's house, and cut a promo while standing in front of the crib of Page's infant son. Earlier this week, Swerve announced he had achieved his lifelong dream of buying his childhood home, so Page broke into the still-vacant house and set it on fire. They hate each other, folks, they really hate each other!
This will be the fourth time these two have met one-on-one; Swerve currently leads the series at 2-0-1. Page has never been able top beat Strickland, who has never been able to win without interference. Originally Hangman was the babyface and Swerve was obviously the heel, but in February they did a double turn on the premise that Swerve is cool as hell and Page is a sore loser. After that, Strickland enjoyed great success as a world champion while Hangman fell into frustration, obsession, and rage.
So I think we all know these two are going to go fucking sickhouse on each other, right? Like, the Texas death match last year was super epic, and they have to find a way to top that. I was sorry I didn't get to see that one in person, but now they're running it back and I have a ticket and I'm so excited. I haven't even thought about who should win or lose, because I'm too busy wondering if they'll try to use fire during the match. The real winners are the fans sickos!
Bryan Danielson vs. Jack Perry - Perry is challenging for the AEW men's world title, but his AEW TNT championship is not at stake. Danielson vowed to never wrestle again unless he captured the world title on August 25. Now that he has it, he's still planning to retire from full-time competition, but not until he loses the belt. In effect, his career is on the line yet again in this match.
Whoever prevails here will presumably go on to defend against Darby Allin, who has a title shot scheduled for September 25. The x-factor in the world title picture, of course, is Christian Cage, who has a contract for a title shot whenever he chooses. In theory Cage could run in right after this match, sneak-attack the winner, and exercise his contract right then and there. I don't expect that to happen, but the threat of it will be looming for the foreseeable future.
I don't really see Bryan losing the title this quickly, unless his neck is really bad and he needs surgery imminently. And if that was the case, I don't think AEW would pick Perry to get the rub of taking his title and retiring him. It'd be an exciting upset, so I wouldn't mind if it happened. But my prediction is that this just a basic win for Danielson on his way to more competitive challengers.
Will Ospreay vs. PAC - Pac earned a shot at the AEW international title on July 10, but he ended up having to wait for Ospreay to lose the title to MJF and win it back at Wembley Stadium. This whole matchup is about two British guys and how they both came up through the British indies and how Ospreay's British peers said he'd never be as good as Pac. And yet, instead of doing the match in London, we're doing it in a real city, Chicago Hoffman Estates. Hope you limeys enjoy watching this total banger at 2am over smack barm pea wet. I'm sure Ospreay will retain and celebrate with a delicious slice of Lou Malnati's.
MJF vs. Daniel Garcia - On July 3, MJF viciously attacked Garcia with a tombstone piledriver off the middle rope, ending a year-long run as an unlikely but surprisingly effective babyface. Garcia sat out selling terrible injuries until August 25, when he returned to cost Max the win against Ospreay at Wembley. Ospreay won the match by finally using the dreaded "tiger driver '91," which essentially dropped Max on the back of his own neck. So in effect both guys are looking for revenge after sustaining severe (fake!) neck injuries.
It feels like big things are in store for Garcia, and I think he absolutely needs to get at least one with out of this feud. I don't necessarily think the win has to be in this match (although I would like that to happen). Something tells me nothing will be settled here, so my prediction is they'll either brawl until the match is thrown out, or Max will get a cheap win and run for the hills.
Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander - Nightingale is the CMLL women's world champion, but the title is not on the line, apparently because CMLL would not sanction the rules Willow chose. She earned the right to name the stipulations on August 25, and decided on a Chicago street fight. This just means the match can't end by disqualification or count-out, so the wrestlers can brawl all over the place with whatever weapons they can get their hands on.
Kris turned on Willow back in April, which feels like it was so long ago I almost forgot they had ever been friends in the first place. I would be very happy if this would end the feud so both ladies could move on to new business. As for the match, the AEW women's roster appears to relish opportunities to do deathmatch spots, so I'm sure these two will pull out all the stops (although being on the same show as Hangman-Swerve and MJF-Garcia may cast a long shadow over this particular blood feud).
Seems to me the winner should be in line for an AEW title shot, and right now both of the champions are heels, so that seems to favor Willow getting the win.
Mercedes Mone vs. Hikaru Shida - Mone's AEW TBS championship is on the line, but her STRONG women's title is not. Mone's amazonian enforcer Kamille is barred from ringside to prevent her from interfering, which is wrestlespeak for "she will run in anyway while the referee is distracted, or someone else will run in."
Shida has been going through some things lately, where she's frustrated about the recent trajectory of her career. I don't see this leading to a title win here; it feels much more like she's going to snap and turn heel, but not yet. So I'd say chances are real good Mone will retain.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Mark Briscoe vs. Konosuke Takeshita - This is a four-way match for Okada's AEW continental title. Mark Briscoe is the ROH men's world champion, but his title isn't up for grabs. The first man to score a fall on any opponent will win the match and Okada's gold.
This feels like a cheap way to get all four of these guys on the show. Which is a little strange, since they've been setting up Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho, and I'm surprised they didn't simply book that match here. The action in this match should be hot, but I never expect a satisfying, definitive resolution in a three-way or four-way match. Okada is bound to retain, and since they probably want to protect all his challengers, I bet Jericho's crew will run in to make sure Orange gets pinned.
Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta - The Young Bucks (Nick & Matt) are defending the AEW tag team title. This feels kind of thrown together at the last minute, although it's been thrown together well, since Yuta pinned Nick last night in an eight-man tag match. Claudio and Wheeler are already two of the trios champions, so I don't think a title change makes much sense here. This is probably just a placeholder so the Bucks can retain on their way to a more important feud, maybe against Max Caster and Anthony Bowens.
Max Caster & Anthony Bowens vs. Bronson & Boulder - This is scheduled for the pre-show. I guess this is just meant to be an easy win for the Acclaimed (Caster and Bowens). I mean, I think the Iron Savages are pretty cool, but they're basically jobbers. I'm sure the match will be fun because I'm pretty sure I've seen it already at last five times. The Acclaimed should win.
Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara & Hologram vs. Tony Nese & Ari Daivari & Josh Woods - This is also on the pre-show. Dustin won the ROH trios title a few weeks ago alongside Marshall and Ross Von Erich, and then he won the ROH tag title with Guevara. Now Dustin is doing trios matches with Sammy and Hologram, for some reason, which seems like it should bother the Von Erichs. The Premiere Athletes (Nese, Daivari, and Woods) are a decent little faction but they're mainly used as jobbers to the stars. Hologram is undefeated in AEW and I don't expect that to change tonight.
Juice Robinson & Austin Gunn & Colten Gunn vs. Evil Uno & John Silver & Alex Reynolds - Another trios match on the pre-show. Last night, the Bang Bang Gang (Juice's team) did a backstage segment last night with Cage of Agony, and Dark Order (Uno's team) lost to Dustin/Sammy/Hologram. I don't know how those two things set up this match, of all things. Oh well, I am very into the idea of Juice Robinson and John Silver having a "biggest horny weirdo" contest. I assume the idea is for Cage of Agony to maybe run in or something, but who the hell knows. I really dig both of these teams, but the Bang Bang Gang clearly has to win.
Roderick Strong & Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. Dante Martin & Darius Martin & Action Andretti vs. Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty & The Beast Mortos - Still another trios match on the pre-show. I don't mind showcasing the depth of the trios division, although that depth would be more convincing if Mortos wasn't randomly paired up with Shane Taylor Promotions. This is a three-way trios match, so I'm not even sure how many people can be in the ring at any given time, or how tags work, because it'll probably break down very quickly into a lot of fun flippy spots and dives. They've been repackaging Top Flight (Dante and Darius) and their friends with a passenger airline crew gimmick, which is somehow not as cringe as it sounds. So I'm kinda leaning towards Top Flight's team to get the win, but I suppose one of the heel teams could steal a pin too.

i have revolution predictions and i must scream
julia hart & skye blue vs. kris statlander & willow nightingale (zero hour): kris and willow are winning this one i think. i feel it in my bones that happen to be incorrect 9 times out of 10 but whatever.
orange cassidy vs. roderick strong (international championship): i don't think oc is retaining fellas .. whether it be due to interference or what, hes not keeping the belt i'm afraid. they've built the undisputed kingdom up (kinda) as these guys who were Absolutely going to get those belts and i see it. sucks
ftr vs. bcc: bcc. nothing more. bcc.
will ospreay vs. konosuke takeshita: i feel like will is gonna win this one purely because i don't think aew would let him lose his first match officially signed ?? if it wasn't for that, i would bet takeshita tbh. i hope this match gets them both out of the don callis family; will didn't seem too Excited about don callis disrupting his moment, despite it being "good" yknow.. get out of there bbgs
christian cage vs. daniel garcia: fuck okay i Want DG to win but. if adam copeland is for-real out and not able to be part of revolution, i don't think hes gonna win it. christian cage will retain and when adam copeland comes back, their feud will pick up. or! hey! maybe they'll move onto a DG/adam copeland feud. i would love that shit ouuuh
eddie kingston vs. bryan danielson: eddie is absolutely retaining and i can't explain my prediction, it just feels right lmao love bryan but its not happening.
toni storm vs. deonna purrazzo: toni storm is retaining and hopping into a feud-ish with mariah may at one point or another that results in mariah may getting the gold. hopping waaay into the future, but the way theyre building it up.. hm. questionable. OR if deonna does win, i see mariah may being the one who ruins toni's chance of retaining, maybe? mariah is obviously head over heels in love with toni and maybe its too soon to do her big "betrayal", i don't know. either way i'm so excited for this match its CRAZYY
samoa joe vs. hangman page vs. swerve strickland: this is the only match i don't think anyone can guess the outcome of like. samoa joe hasn't been a champ for very long, hangman is DEAD SET on not letting swerve be the new champ, and swerve has been built up to be this crazy loved star, despite his extreme heel tendencies its a lot !! but i do kinda feel like joe will retain. its either joe or swerve - or, fuck it, maybe a time limit draw. i don't think they'd do that, though. i am hoping swerve wins, but at the same time, i want joe to retain. tough choices. the build up to this match has been nuts and so so entertaining, maybe the best part of aew lately.
sting & darby allin vs. young bucks: damn i just realized sting and darby never got a tag name LMAO anyways, the bucks are winning this one. obviously. OBVIOUSLY. i'm excited for this match too purely because sting and darby have talked about how theyre going all out for it and its like. how much more can you do that you havent already done? theyre gonna bbq the bucks yall.. i can see them losing the belts here and darby turning heel after (-his trip up mount everest) said fact because maybe he'd blame himself for the loss in kayfabe or what have you, i think the aftermath is gonna hit, especially if you really like darby, but this match is also gonna be crazy emotional from start to finish and i hope sting appears every now and then after :")
whatever it may be, i know this ppv is gonna Fuck. bless up

I’m seeing people say Forbidden Door is too AEW focused this year, but when you objectively look at the card, it really isn’t.
Mercedes v Vaquer
Toni v Mina
Danielson v Shingo
Mox v Naito
Orange v ZSJ
MJF v Hechicero
AEW only matches:
Ladder match (so far)
Swerve v Ospreay
That is only 2 out of 8 matches, like what are you saying. And there's a high chance there will be more cross promotional matches revealed later this week, since Gabe Kidd and El Phantasmo showed up to Rampage pretapings last week.
There’s less multimans this year, so numbers wise, it feels like there’s less representation from other companies. BUT I counter that the downside to the multimans is not everyone can share the same amount of spotlight--you have some wrestlers getting more shine while others mostly hang out on the apron. These singles matches can have more focus on the individual wrestlers of other companies. Tho I do anticipate the inclusion of more multimans on the pre-show.
I think the mistake on both AEW and the fan's part is marketing FD as a NJPWxAEW event moving forward. NJPW is still getting most of the representation (they're half of the outside talent), but this is definitely an AEWxThe World type of ppv now. And the downside to opening the door to more companies collaborating is that the spots and plots that would've gone to NJPW are now going to CMLL or Stardom. The shows are already 5+ hours long, and you can only fit so many matches on the card. People were complaining on the lack of interpromotional women's matches or lucha libre rep in past years, and now we have two title defenses from two different companies! And while I don't think the MJF-Hechicero match is the best combination, it's still something for CMLL along with Stephanie Vaquer. The optimal FD card is having 0 AEW v AEW matches, but I believe we can get there.
Personally, I don't think there should or can be separate ppvs for the different promotions ie, a FD just with NJPW or a FD just with CMLL. Logistically, it sounds like a nightmare considering implementing build time, working out visas and travelling. I don't think it's a coincidence Fantasticamania Mexico and USA are happening in close proximity to FD--all the relevant NJPW talent are in the same continent so travel between the states and Mexico is easier than if they're going back and forth from Japan. The moment I saw Hiromu Takahashi on the Fantasticamania MX card for a week, I knew there's no way TK could resist booking him for AEW while he's in the same hemisphere. Hiromu, Titan, and ZSJ were on Tuesday's CMLL show in Mexico City and they're literally showing up on Dynamite in Buffalo, NY the day after.
Now the interesting question is: why are fans feeling like it's AEW-focused when on paper, it's the opposite? I think it partly falls down to the aforementioned issue of the expectation of more NJPW presence on a program where there's two other promotions sharing the spotlight now. CMLL doesn’t have a big presence in ENG speaking circles as compared to NJPW, so there’s less familiarity/hype when a CMLL wrestler shows up in a guest spot vs when a NJPW fan fav shows up on AEW. But I also think the other part of the problem lies on the plots/build leading up to the show and how unbalanced it is.
I'd argue the builds that have the most presence on AEW programing are Swerve v Ospreay, Toni v Mina, Ladder Match and the rest following suit in varying degrees. You get the occasional appearance from TMDK or Shingo or a luchador but those top three matches are given the most promo+match time until the couple shows before the ppv. Hechicero has shown up a lot lately but his match up against MJF felt last minute and not the direction they were headed with his character. Naturally, AEW talent have more free time to promote the matches in ways the outside talent can't due to travel, visas and scheduling--NJPW are still doing their tours in Japan and Fantasticamania Mexico this week, CMLL do shows 4 days a week every week plus some of their talent had visa issues earlier this year. Mina is the only exception to this as she's been reliably flying in and making appearances even before Double or Nothing, which I consider a plus and how AEW should book for FD moving forward. She's been so seamlessly integrated into the show and the story with Toni and Mariah having been such a constant presence, she doesn't feel too much like an outsider. I think the issue with FD in previous years is that most of the ongoing plots in AEW have to take a pause for FD season, or they have to awkwardly insert NJPW talent into it somehow or the build only starts a couple weeks before the show. Mina's handling has avoided that, but you can't say the same for the Ladder Match and Swerve v Ospreay which has the opposite problem of not involving outside talent at all. I'm not entirely too happy with Swerve v Ospreay main eventing but I don't hate it either. I can see why AEW chose to do it and how it's probably more beneficial to their long term plans. But at the expense of downplaying the interpromotional focus of the show for TWO their biggest titles is :/ and something I hope they won't repeat again in the future.
And speaking of titles, there's the whole discourse of Moxley being the iwgp champ and questioning the relationship between the promotions that's skewed people's perception of FD. I'll say Mox deserves to be world champ and its unfair to say he's unworthy or his defenses are meaningless; the guy was in the G1 and appeared in NJPW before joining AEW, plus it's also up to NJPW to approve of the title defenses in the first place. I think half of this problem lies with NJPW's struggle in pushing new main eventers from their already talented roster and the other half is AEW protecting themselves too much in the booking. There’s an existing story of a full on AEW vs NJPW war the wrestlers and fans talk about but the companies don’t want to play into it to protect the image of their partnership. I originally wrote a whole thing explaining this point further, but it kinda got off topic and too lengthy so I'll just say this: regardless of what your thoughts are about the title reign, the discourse around it and how the match most likely isn't main eventing is not a good look on AEW's part and has swayed some fans' opinion of the representation of the card. I don't think this assessment is entirely fair to knock the whole ppv down or doom write about how AEW is screwing over NJPW, but I understand how a fan's frustration of it can taint their perception of FD.

Here are my Double or Nothing predictions and/or fantasy bookings that no one asked for! These things will absolutely not happen but in my mind, this is what should happen.
Thunder Rosa vs. Deonna Purrazzo
Rosa. I like them both but like Rosa a little more than Deonna.
The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass vs. Brian Cage & Gates of Agony
Daddy Ass and the Acclaimed
The Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin & Colten Gunn) (c) vs. Death Triangle (PAC, Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero M) for the Unified Trios titles
This is a tough one because I low key love the train wreck - one brain cell ass combo of the Bang Bang Gang BUT I’m a Lucha Bros Babe from before AEW so I’m giving the edge to Death Triangle
Orange Cassidy vs. Trent Beretta
Listen. Here’s all I’m gonna say. I’m Team Chuck Taylor above all others. And Chuck chose Orange. So if that’s what Chuck thought, that’s what I think
Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita in an IWGP World Heavyweight championship Eliminator
That arm in the chair spot handicaps Mox a bit which I think leaves this open for Takeshita to take this win (only to lose when the actual title is on the line)
Chris Jericho (c) vs. HOOK vs. Katsuyori Shibata for the FTW title
Anyone but Jericho. Fuck outta here.
(low key rooting for Shibata tho)
Adam Copeland (c) vs. Malakai Black in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match for the TNT championship
If I had my way, Adam is gonna come out to the whole old school Brood entrance, I’m talking with the original music, the ring of fire and Gangrel carrying the blood filled chalice.
Anyway I’m thinking Adam has the edge (get it lol) and this is clearly leading, as I said when Adam first got inked by Malakai, to Adam turning evil and taking over HOB (so that Malakai and maybe Buddy can fuck off back to WWE to be with their SOs, which I don’t fault them for wanting)
Roderick Strong (c) vs. Will Ospreay for the International championship
I want Ospreay to come out and immediately decapitate Matt Taven with a round house kick and for Matt Taven’s head to fly into Mike Bennett’s gut and go clean through it leaving a comical hole like in the movie Death Becomes Her.
And then he beats Roderick.
Timeless Toni Storm (c) vs. Serena Deeb for the AEW Women World title
Toni Storm cross body blocks Serena and then just starts mocking a seizure and her acting is so good that Serena immediately submits.
Willow Nightingale (c) vs. Mercedes Moné for the TBS title
Willow picks up Mercedes and tosses her into the rafters like she was a paper plane. When Mercedes floats back down to the ring after 15 mins of gliding, Willow powerbombs her so hard that Earth’s magnetic poles shift
Swerve Strickland (c) vs. Christian Cage for the AEW World championship
Swerve should roll Nick Wayne up in one of Mother Wayne’s dusters and use him like a lance to take out Luchasaurus/Killswitch, since he has a masters degree in Medieval history, I believe Luchaswitch would appreciate it.
Then Swerve would have to defeat Mother Wayne as Christian would be hanging on to her leg like a scared kitten.
Once Mother Wayne was disposed of, Swerve will have Nana dance so hard that Christian will pass out resulting in a win via TKO
The Elite (The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada & Jack Perry) vs. Team AEW (FTR, Bryan Danielson & Darby Allin) in Anarchy in the Arena
This is too ripe for wild shit. Nothing I could imagine would come close to whatever inevitable insane shit Darby does.
I’ll just say I’m Team Elite. Because I can’t stand FTR.

Thoughts on AEW Dynamite/Rampage (spoilers)
It's awesome seeing Mercedes. She looks pretty happy to be there-- or at least back in a wrestling ring. She's always seemed like she was in that Moxley/Danielson/probably the other Horsewomen crowd of "I need you to understand that I love professional wrestling. I would marry pro wrestling if I could."
You could argue that only people in pro wrestling are the ones that love it, but there's been plenty of people who have gotten into the business without really loving it. But you can tell when people actually enjoy doing it.
Idk how I feel about her entrance music. Mostly because I can barely hear it-- I watch like 90% of AEW shows on an older tablet, so the audio quality is diminished. Plus, AEW is notorious for seemingly always having some kind of audio problem.
Willow vs Mercedes II is gonna fuck, when they book that.
Eddie's sleeveless duster thing looked cool as hell.
Okada manifesting in some portal behind the Codyvator (or he uses the Codyvator, I can't tell) is such a great entrance. Really helps make him feel like he's a big fucking deal.
I'm... fine... with Okada winning the Continental Championship or whatever they're calling it. It's just the one belt of the triple crown. I went into it expecting Okada to win-- I mean, it's Okada. I would have been fine with Eddie retaining, but I feel like it may be a bit too early for Okada to lose in a match where you'd basically have to lose clean.
Since Eddie is going against Mark Brisco for the ROH belt, I do wonder if they're gonna have Eddie just lose all three. And, if so, I wonder if it's for a storyline or something, or if Eddie just needs some time off.
I'm just, like, kind of tired of Chris Jericho. I get that he's important to the company as the first champion, and he's not unpopular. But the Hook match was just okay. I'll take it over the "Chris Jericho beats up Luchadors from CMLL" thing that's been happening.
Tony please stop having Ospreay show up right when I have to feed my cats and get ready for bed. He's so fucking fun and dorky when he's not wrestling.
I almost missed the tag match with Rosa/Deonna vs Toni/NotToni. But I can assume all four were fun, since they're all good in the ring.
Swerve is just so damn cool. The match with The Butcher was fun.
Samoa Joe is so smug, but cool, and scares me. He doesn't have 100% final boss energy, but he's so close.
It's been a little bit since Don Callis has been booed so loudly that it almost completely drowns him out.
Takeshita vs Swerve holy shit
Christian and Copeland was what I expected. It was fun. Absolutely hilarious that the ending to the match technically happened during Rampage. The ending itself was also hilarious. I'm still surprised it took this long for someone to use the strategy of just yam-bagging someone until they give up.
The Bullet Club Gold bit was funny as hell. I was really hoping Jay would be like, "I saved your life." -- while being excessively smarmy and smug like always.
Kinda feeling like The Acclaimed need to split up. Idk what it is really but I haven't been feeling Caster lately.
Best Friends vs The Don Callis Family was fun stuff. Kind of funny how Trent's back was bleeding for most of the match, but Knox didn't bother putting gloves on until Kyle's mouth was a crime scene.
Schiavone absolutely loathing that he has to exist anywhere near Callis is amazing. Reminds me of how much Mauro Ranallo hated Tommaso Ciampa back in NXT during Ciampa's no-music heel phase.
I am always here for a Shibata match.
Takeshita is so fucking good. And Rocky is also great.
Stat/Willow v The Spooky Ladies was fun.
The contrast between Statlander and Skye was amusing. Stat let her self be thrown onto thumbtacks, have them shoved in her mouth and then kicked, do a 450 and basically land knee-first onto some chairs. Skye did everything she could to not accidentally land into the thumbtacks.
Also, I'm assuming that Skye bladed after getting hit with the spike. From a theater/presentation standpoint, I feel like if she had bled more-- like if the cut was a little deeper or she took some aspirin or something-- it would have made the impact of the spike more dramatic. But I'm also not going to actually say that a wrestler *should* have bled more. They do enough and all that shit is at their own discretion. I'm not a booking agent or anything.
All in all, fun stuff.
