Calice & Luna respectively, you can't rlly see Cal cus she's just got that shot in the bottom corner, but y'know.

Luna was supposed to be killed in that fire. hah. funny how fate works.

They actually used to know eachother when they were younger, much younger. Luna's about 17 here and Calice is 36 and they crossed paths a few times due to living in the same village (until, y'know...the incident.) and Luna's need for finding companionship in someone she thought was like her, didn't help that they often took the same route to school/work. Calice thought she was a pest.

the right section is a bit of Calice's recollection of Luna from when she was younger, fire and missing posters....not like many people cared much for the wolf hybrid freak that shared a classroom with their children, if anything she was a danger, I mean, it's still an animal...what if it snapped and hurt someone? You never know with these....things.

Poor Luna, this part of the story is VERY dramatic, i love to think of their characters of being so similar, they just took a different approach to how they were treated.

i think i found a connection between sibylla and enkanomiya because of the strangest book in genshin “vera's melancholy”.

the book is very futuristic and it’s hard to relate to anything in the game but there’s a few references to greek mythology and the mention of the name delphi (vera’s hometown), which we know are things connected to enkanomiya.

volume 3 of “the byakuyakoku collection” talks about the three corners that mark the borders of enkanomiya. a tower was constructed in each of those three realms and they’re used to harmonize the three realms, stabilizing the tendencies of enkanomiya and controlling its winds and water (despite those locations not being aligned with those elements). one of those corners is known as “the serpent’s heart” which in the past was called delphi or the land of the snakes.

the snakes in this case being ouroboros and orobashi. ouroboros, as everyone knows, it’s an ancient symbol depicting a serpent/dragon eating its own tail, which depicts a never-ending cycle, and this image fits two things that aberaku (sunchild) says in “the byakuyakoku collection”:

interestingly enough, delphi is said to experience a weird phenomenon where space overlaps itself. despite the themes in “vera’s melancholy” being nothing alike anything we’re aware of in genshin, there’s an interesting depiction of a portal in vera’s hometown, which in a way matches this description of overlaped space.

vera also says this interesting thing about a planet beyond the starry sea. the starry sea is a choice of words that can easily reference the sky/universe or the abyss and it reminded me of this description of events in "before sun and moon":

going back to sibylla, if you aren’t aware who she is (she was apparently introduced to us during the archon quests through wriothesley but i don’t recall it so i can’t pinpoint when it happened, although the new artifact set will talk about it), she was a prophet who remus met “below the abyssal depths” - where the source of all waters lies (primordial water) - who took the form of a golden bee and told god-king remus of the prophecy that the sea would swallow remuria.

the name sibylla means "prophetess" or "oracle" in greek and is associated with the ability to communicate with the gods or a divine being to be their messenger. the people who prophesied at holy sites in ancient greece were called sibyls and the first sibyl recorded was actually from delphi. delphi was a famous town of the oracle in ancient greece and was believed to be the center of the world. the town took its name from the delphyne, the she-serpent who lived there and was killed by the god apollo. apollo has been recognized as a god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the sun and light, poetry, and more. as the patron deity of delphi, he is an oracular god—the prophetic deity of the delphic oracle and also the deity of ritual purification. i think we can agree that there’s a lot of overlap between the things associated with sibylla and enkanomiya. i can't say anything for sure but i think there's a possibility that she's from there or tied there somehow.

the place where remus met sibylla wasn’t an empty place, there were was an unchronicled city there who had a silver-white cedar, which by the way it’s the exact colour the irminsul is said to be. cedars represent purification and protection as well as incorruptibility and eternal life. this is interesting from an irminsul and time perspective, of course, but also because remus’ goal that led to the downfall of remuria was to place the baton of humanity’s fate in their own hands, in a way that resembles immortality. for this, he created the golden ichor which was made of primordial water and was supposed to dissolve people’s original bodies while containing their souls and minds. he would then transfer this to undying golems, making this the cornerstone of his “grand symphony”. by the way, ichor is the fluid that flows like blood in the veins of the gods, so in a way it’s like he wanted to break free from the power imbalance between humans and gods by ascending humanity into godhood. and, again, remuria seems to always have ways to connect with khaenri'ah. these golem creatures are very akin to ruin machines, khaenri'ahn technology. so, maybe remus' invention was actually the basis behind khaenri'ahn machines.

something that also feels interesting to mention is that in mythology, egeria was a nymph and the consort of the second king of rome. in parallel to this, sybilla guided remus up until the creation of the golden ichor. i don’t recall exactly the last part of the lore in the flower of this artifact set (harmonious symphony prelude) but i’m pretty sure she was said to have transformed into a ship, more specifically fortuna (remus’ ship), once again reinforcing the idea of them working together and trying to cheat fate. the name egeria is also used as an eponym for a female advisor or counselor, which is very much what sibylla was to remus. the artifact set doesn't allude to sibylla and egeria being the same entity but they share quite a few similarities and a lot of their elements clash. the concept of prophecy in ancient greece seems to have been associated with bees, explaining why sibylla took the form of one. and if you remember me mentioning apollo in the part about delphi, there’s something that ties with this whole bee theme. the homeric hymn to hermes acknowledges that apollo's gift of prophecy first came to him from three bee-maidens, usually but doubtfully identified with the thriae, a trinity of pre-hellenic aegean bee goddesses. these three bee maidens had the power of divination and were romantically linked to apollo, one of them even said to have given him delphos, another of the supposed beings behind the origin of the town delphi’s name. there’s a bit of conflicting ideas regarding this part specifically but it's still curious that there's, once again, a big association between delphi and sibylla through apollo and also with the connection with the concept of trinity. this isn’t a strange concept in fontaine at all, as we can easily associate it with the ruling in this nation after remus (e.g. egeria-furina/focalors-neuvillette; furina-focalors-oratrice as the holy trinity; and, the three thrones near opera epiclese).

unrelated thoughts:

i think the flower in this set might be an anemone or adonis flower. i'm very uncertain to be honest, but both associate to the same things and they fit the lore very much. in greek mythology, the anemone symbolized the bloody death of the greek god adonis, the mortal lover of the goddesses aphrodite and persephone, who was famous for having achieved immortality. again, very remus-core!!!

there's also this. they're not the same whatsoever, but i thought it was interesting that their (remus and dainsleif) colour palettes are the same.the blue accent in their masks are also in the same location; remus' is like a tear while dainsleif's extends from the side and doesn't touch the eye. even though they're different, it still had me scratching my chin like a detective.

→ Study 𝐈𝐕: Enkanomiya myth and civilization: the Primordial One, the Second Who Came, the Sunchildren and Orobashi.

This is a theory that I’ve been considering the more lore I was able to stumble onto with the passing of the several missions in Enkanomiya meant to be puzzled together and shed light towards a direction: Celestia’s (or the Second Who Came) deeds since their arrival to their plans to conceal the truth of the story before their coming in order to allow the people of Enkanomiya return to the surface. For this, I’ll start a little further back in time from before Celestia did not conquer the world yet.

Initially, the world was inhabited by vishaps with Seven Sovereigns which were ruling dragons in seven different nations until the first throne came to the world. It was created from scratch after the war was over and the vishaps fled elsewhere.

Phanes is known in the Orphic cosmogony as a deity of light and goodness, whose name means “to bring light” or “to shine”. Besides the world and the separation between the universe and the microcosm of this world, he was also the creator of the human civilization (also known as the Enkanomiyan civilization) which was the creation he cherished the most. The human civilization was a single one and mankind made a covenant with him.

By the looks of it, the Primordial One and his four shining shades (also known as the five saints according to Aberaku) were kind and attentive of the humans until the second throne came and a new war started. In the process, the land of Enkanomiya fell to the chasm where it is located and its people had to live without light and defending themselves however they could from the bathysmal vishaps, who have been lurking in the depths for longer than they came. These people struggled to live the way they did and the prayers they once had for Phanes became lamentations which neither him or the remaining three shining shades ever answered. The ancestors of Enkanomiya believed that it was the Primordial One who defeated the Second Who Came but there is a glaring difference in the way of acting that suggests otherwise:

Keeping into account Celestia’s modus operandi of concealing the truth and even decimating entire civilizations if they get too close to it or they’re remotely close to knowing a truth that is not in Celestia’s interest for people to know, it makes sense to close the path back to the surface considering that the people of Enkanomiya wanted to return to the surface. Only when they would strive to conceal the truth generation after generation until it became taboo to learn about it and the following people wouldn’t know anymore about their origins or Phanes is when they’d be able to return to the surface.

Years later, Aberaku was able to organize the construction of Helios after receiving the wisdom of the great god Tokoyo Ookami (or Istaroth, the God of Time), a device that could recreate the sun’s warmth and light underground. With it came the first Sunchild, believed to be the incarnation of the Primordial One given that the ancestors of Enkanomiya thought that Phanes defeated the Second Who Came. However, once again the methodology used via these children which never reached the age of maturity adds to Celestia’s plans to rush people into concealing the truth so they are returned to the surface faster if they didn’t want to live under the reign of children and the disastrous management of those who were pulling at the strings.

By choosing Helios as these people’s object of worship instead of Aberaku as its creator, who was a man who received the wisdom of a god and was wise himself, it was in the best interest of Celestia to not only diminish his importance but silence him completely when he wanted to oppose the rule of the first Sunchild. Eventually this led to imprisoning him for wanting to usurp the throne of the first king.

But he was not the only one, as there was another important historical figure to these times that was imprisoned for “committing grave crimes” and that is Spartacus, the leader of the resistance against the Sunchild government that was slowly dissolved when he was imprisoned. As for the reason why a big group that contained even medics and strategists would break apart, Adonis (one of Spartacus’ students) suspects that the government had something to do with it.

Now, onto Orobashi and the way Watatsumi was formed, it is said that during the Archon War, Orobashi fled to the Dark Sea and committed a sin in the process. This sin was none other than learning about the truth before the coming of Celestia into the picture and thus he was sentenced to death, but not before moving the existing civilization of Enkanomiya back at the time to a newly formed Watatsumi Island as per Celestia’s comnand:

All in all, Enkanomiya was branded as a land of sinners that committed transgressions which Orobashi would have to bear and bring with him to his death against the Raiden Shogun in a fight that he knew that he could not stand any chance, but so it was already ordered by Celestia.

Ryōken/Ryouken is an old oc i remixed for strangegutz's Heartbreak Gulch setting. I originally designed him as Kōrō and then immediately decided I wanted to redesign and rename him lmao. He's a sentient computer program/server (hi I know nothing about technology lmao) created by a security company that got bored of guard duty and decided to take off with his client's money. So now he's hiding out in Heartbreak Gulch working out what to do with his time and money.

Gilly's full name is Gilbert Coriander Helianthus Crabapple Rupert Sunchild and they will respond to any of those (this is what happens when you have 20 parents). If you saw posts tagged with their name that also had other names tagged it might just be multiple characters tagged for the same post.

No bc imagine Chai spawning in Enkanomiya when all of the shit was going down. The current Sunchild was just fucking killed for treason or smth and the people of Enkanomiya find a strangely dressed and odd talking child.

They take the child to the elders and they're "oh yeah, it's all coming together."

and of course, they do the whole sunchild thing everybody says chai did treason when all of the sunchildren did nothing wrong >:(

they lift Chai high up to the sky to show off to celestia that they had their precious star child that fell into the depths. Chai nearly dies from the heat. The elders ensure complete control and a possible escape from their false day.

Not too sure what Celestia would do as they're bitches but I'd like to say Chai lives just not sure how. They could pull what they did on Oborashi, giving them two options like: Let go of the child or we wipe enkanomiya off the the face (?) of the earth

Either way, Chai meeting all of the original archons <333 Chai being taken care of by all of them <333 Celestia pulling what the elders did by having you be the figure head but everybody loves you. You keep everyone docile and under Celestia's thumb.

The archons may hate them after the Cataclysm, but as long as you're there to keep them under control, to keep them from revolting against their false sky, then Teyvat will remain in Celestia's palm.

CdR - meeting a mistake

She was like the moon and the sun mixed in one impossible being.

Her eyes burned furiously, tinged an odd shade of amber and her skin glowed with the sun’s rays itself. Her very presence burned in a room, calling attention to her; and you knew going near to her would bring imminent destruction.

And yet, her hair was a dark halo around her head, her voice a low murmur that belonged in moon soaked bedrooms in the dead of night. Her movements graceful and lithe like shadows reflected on walls and her laugh trilled out like starlight. Her humour was as dark as a cloudy sky and her demeaneour enchanted you in a way that was ever present yet unattainable; dancing out of your reach except for a small few, driving you wild just by looking at it.

And she was looking at me. And I at her. And in my mind something said that she’d be the death of me but I disregarded it and stepped over.

Enkanomiya is coming in 2.4, so I’m looking up what additional lore we got related to Watatsumi recently. 

First, the book The Serpent-Drake of Tokoyo no Kuni talks about Enkanomiya leading up to the people there entering a pact with the Orobashi. It was originally a lightless place, where the people were constantly terrorized by the Dragonheir. The sage Abe Yoshihisa created an artificial sun, leading to the appointment of Sunchild as their king, who ruled as a tyrant. 

Eventually, a child went in search of the “Dragonbone Flower” but instead met the great serpent. The boy asked the serpent to become their god. 

Next, we have A Preliminary Study of Sangonomiya Folk Belief. 

This one is important because it discusses why the Orobashi fought. The people of Watatsumi apparently wished to invade Narukami’s lands because Watatsumi can’t provide enough food for them, due to the barren land. The Orobashi eventually agreed to go into conflict with the Narukami forces, despite knowing that it would be killed in the process. 

There are two sections about its reasons: 

Orobashi's true motives are not well-recorded by history. This is merely a hypothesis drawn by those who discovered the inscriptions: Watatsumi Omikami long knew that he would not have any chance of survival this time, but accepted the prophecy's result calmly. If he wished to ensure the perpetuation of his people's "faith," there was but one path — sacrifice. Even if Watatsumi would pass away, its people would endlessly weave their memories of joy, prosperity, bitterness, and loss into a united faith. These memories, in turn, would flourish on account of the intense emotions of a vanquished people forced into shameful submission.

And: 

However, there is another version of the legend of Watatsumi Omikami's slaying: [...] The names of the people of Watatsumi were also not written in the Inazuman style then. The names and surnames used today by them came about by order of the Great Serpent, who had them learn the traditions of Narukami. It is said that when Watatsumi Omikami decided to bring the people of the depths out of the waters, he did this at the instruction of the heavens themselves. For Watatsumi Omikami had once fled into the Dark Sea to avoid the Archon War, committing a grave sin in the process. Thus perhaps it was upon heaven's order that Orobashi went to his death — though this cannot be known for sure.

The author also takes the time to drag Watatsumi people’s tendency to forego "facts" of the past and emphasize the "consciousness" of the present and say they can be easily misled by “those with an agenda” to bring ruin. 

I’m actually really annoyed with the tone of this book. Also, it doesn’t seem to make sense, given that we know there was an “Abe Yoshihisa” down in Enkanomiya. Was he an enlightened savior type from the surface? Or did they actually use names just like Narukami despite supposedly not doing that? 

There is also lore about this conquest attempt in Akuoumaru, specifically about this guy, the “Akuou”: 

Amongst the people of Watatsumi bent upon conquest, a young man stood out from the rest. His fearless valor won him great love in Watatsumi, and they named him Touzannou.

Wavebreaker's Fin says that he (the vassal ruler) “vanished into a rift rent into the very earth itself.” It also confirms the fate of his love interest Mouun, who was killed by Sasayuri’s subordinates (as revenge?), and a legend that her sister Ayame, the Umigozen, “hid thenceforth, steering her flagship into the Dark Sea at the borders of the world...” 

His history is also discussed in Debates on the "Viceroy of the East", while Mouun is in The Life of Mouun the Shrine Maiden.

This stuff isn’t really connected to Enkanomiya, but at least now we know... Watatsumi shot first :)

☼  bio:

chaesol was born via a surrogate in gyeongju-si to an older couple who had been unable to conceive. they’d sunk so much of their life’s earnings into fertility treatments and failed adoptions, they’d finally settled on the surrogacy option.

her father was diagnosed with an aggressive form of thyroid cancer when chaesol was a year old, and he died mere months later. as he was the main breadwinner for the family, the cost of raising a child alone became too much for chaesol’s mother to bear, so she rescinded her parental rights, sending the child hurtling into the foster care system.

even though she had a rather sunny disposition despite her circumstances, most of her placements with families were temporary. she learned early on that the key was to give everything and not expect much.

after a few years and incessant questions, the social worker who was assigned to her case informed her of her original family’s situation, and why’d she’d been placed in foster care in the first place. she couldn’t find it in her to blame her mother, as she probably thought this would give chaesol a chance at a happier life. it’s not like it could have been an easy decision, either. that’s the very attitude that kept her going, even when it seemed like she’d never find an actual home.

she sort of got used to spending every holiday with someone new, or maybe even with no one at all. it became an empty pattern. one that made her look at holidays as just mere days. another one to mark off the calendar. birthdays were even worse; a blight on humanity that she didn’t like to talk about.

finally though, she found it. her forever family came to her at age thirteen, and somehow, she knew it from the first day. they were so welcoming and warm; it matched so perfectly with her personality. they were unlike anyone she’d met in her shuffle from family to family. they’d ask her about all her favorite things and then surprise her with them. they didn’t treat her any differently because of where she came from. they cared. it was new and exciting; the months were stretching on before she knew it, and the sweet feel of permanence had allowed itself to settle in her hopeful soul.

not only did she now have two loving parents, but she also had two older siblings and three younger ones. both her parents and older siblings were all either in the medical field, or receiving medical training. there was so much to admire about her new family, it was a bit of a whirlwind. she’d never really given much thought to what she’d wanted to do for employment, but she figured following in the footsteps of the people who’d saved her was the least she could do.

her family was supportive of the idea, and were crucial in providing her with a lot of the basic information she’d need. many nights were spent on the living room floor with snacks and medical textbooks just pouring over numerous topics.

she entered medical school at age twenty, and she surprisingly thrived in the high pressure environment. due to her happy-go-lucky nature, she had an impeccable bedside manner. her memory was also one of her better attributes, which was critical when so much information was being thrown at you from every direction.

despite her success in school, she wondered if she really had a passion for all of this, or if she was simply doing it out of a sense of obligation to her family.

she’s now in her third year and preparing her residency applications. she’s still struggling with what she wants, but for now, it’s full steam ahead for dr. jo chaesol. she’s also considering specializing in oncology, in a sort of tribute for her first father, who passed away from cancer.

she’s been living at dallyeog for a few months now, due to its close proximity to her campus as well as her family. it’s simply the latest in a long list of her adventures!

☼  personality / fun facts

she’s ! so ! sunny ! i swear she is almost always finding something to smile about, even if it is a struggle. she likes to always appear happy because she thinks it’s her cross to bear, i guess??

she’s a bit of a gamer in her free time. she finds it to be an extremely fun escape from reality while also being an excellent tool to train her dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

very protective of her friends, but will also call them stupid if they do something extremely dangerous and make her deploy her first aid. and she’s constantly doing that btw ( even if you don’t ask ). just call her doctor dallyeog 🥺

very dutiful. if she feel like she has an obligation to you, she will see it through until her last breath. unpaid debts make her very uneasy. it also doesn’t help that her love language is acts of service, so she’s always doing little things for people anyway.

chaesol is a speed reader. it’s argued whether or not she can actually enjoy a book considering how she just breezes through them. still, she has a knack for comprehending information and committing it to memory, so there’s that!

she seems to have boundless energy, no matter what time of day it is. it’s actually kind of annoying. maybe she’s born with it or maybe she has coffee coursing through her veins due to her studies. the world may never know.

she has slight omphalophobia, which is a fear of having her belly button touched or tugged. she accepts that it’s irrational, but she’s never been able to stave off the fear regardless.
