hi Margin! idk if you're still doing those 3-sentence fics, but in case you are, here's a prompt suggestion: "dawn"
bonus points if it's HW zelink? <3
Ohohohohohohohoho YES >:)
(full disclosure this was sitting in my inbox for weeks because i couldn't figure out what to write but i did it today in math class so here you go)
He was stern, and cold, and dispassionate; a statue, they called him, beautiful and unfeeling and as pristinely white as marble, resistant to the colors of love and laughter- or at least, that's what they said.
She was beautiful too, but not in his opaque, colorless way- if he was a marble statue, she was a stained-glass window, full of light and warmth and color, and her soul was the dawn that shone through and cast her illuminating hues on the grey congregation of the soldiers around her.
And when he was with her- when the dawn of her smile graced the Captain, not grey and battered like his men but pristinely alabaster- he absorbed her color; the white and colorless turned brilliant shades of gold and green and blue, and the few blessed to witness this transfiguration swore that, for a moment, she could make their Captain look almost human.
#guys i swear paladin's not actually cold and unfeeling okay#it's just how most people perceive him#on top of his army conditioning he has the self-hatred that comes from knowing a time witch started an interdimensional war because#she got the hots for him#so my guy's retreated WAY into his shell like. 10 times more than the average link because of said time witch and her hots#he's gaslit himself into thinking that he needs to be emotionally stable (read: repressed) to be an effective captain#because otherwise he'll get too attached to his men and won't be able to move on from mourning them when they inevitably die#or worse- he'd get caught up in his emotions and unwittingly give cia an upper hand#in actuality his heart is too big for his body#but because of his self control (read: emotional repression) the only person who can coax him out of the prison of his own design is zelda#and lana and impa (and baby orpheus) to some extent#but mostly zelda#because they love each other <3#i don't know why i felt the need to explain all this in the tags but i didn't want y'all to think i actually write him as cold and distant#that was EXTREMELY important for me to be clear about#margin writes#you ask margin babbles#my beloved hyrule warriors

Wars got tuned lol
Usually Tune never says anything to Wars during Hyrule warriors (because timeline and everything)
But what if Tune was just thinking that he can win his older bro over without telling him they once were brothers
Because Warriors managed it as well so he would figure it out too he will just be affectionate and shit (Warriors was doing the same so he obviously has to prove that he can do it better)
So when Wars met Tune
Tune was just acting like they already knew each other for years and then proceeded to wipe the floor with Cia
(he overheard time and Warriors talking about her and now that he is in on the conflict he ain't letting her into a 30 mile radius of Wars if he can beat her beforehand)
So Wars pushed him away in the beginning out of anxiety because his only other stalker was Cia and he knows how that turned out (an entire war)
That convinced tune to try harder because he ain't losing to baby time at being the best younger sibling
So Wars had to deal with Tune giving him fairy food (which made wars question how and why he has the exact same measurements of HIS own personal fairy food recipe )
Creepily hovering next to his window with his face pressed against it and awkwardly attempting at making conversation with him (Tune was busy fighting Lana for this spot lol he EARNED the right to protect his brother from her likes)
Break into Wars apartment and then raid the fridge like he lives there yet leaving when asked because he respects the other’s privacy (considering how much he breaks in he might as well be no matter how often Wars changes the locks )
And asking if he can be friends with him at every single opportunity
Wars was NOT enjoying Tune's company at all (Tune was hearth broken lol)
But because Tune was reliable and unsettlingly ready to DIE for him when necessary and loyal to an undesirable degree (like Lana but more effective)
He would just have to accept that he is friends with a lunatic who has a very bad habit of asking him if he can join him in his fucking bed (Wind wants comfort he really doesn’t realize that he sounds like an absolute maniac)
But accepting Tune is a force that can’t be stopped gives him a few advantages
For example Lana is afraid of Tune so if he stays close to the maybe serious criminal then she will stay in line
That applies to every single person in Hyrule who has a crush on him
At first he thought that Tune also has a crush on him but Tune quickly corrected him because in his words “that is fucking disgusting you are so disgusting ew,… ewwww”
So because it is not a creepy crush he really has no idea what that guy's deal is
Because what else is there that would explain why the other wants to go kill somebody for him just because
But at some point he decides that the pros of having someone crazy that asks very intrusive questions but respects decisions like NOT getting to stay at his place
Are better then the cons of having no crazy friend to scare away undesired other crazy people
So Tune forcefully got to make friendship bracelets with wars
Wars pointing at Tune : sometimes you need a crazy friend to scare away other crazy people
Tune not explaining shit to him : We are friends finally :3
Wars : how the fuck are you still in my apartment !?,”,!? I changed the locks twenty times already!
Tune : ;) friendship
During linked universe Warriors had the biggest realization of history because why the fuck was Wind so bad at keeping their relationship from the future (past..it’s complicated) a secret
He obviously was much much better at it (.. he isn’t Wind just has no sense of boundaries and doesn’t care if a random guy is offering him a scarf in his sadness so warriors is correct in his books)
Time is disappointing in every single aspect of their life but learned from his own adventures that telling those idiots that they are idiots doesn’t diminish their idiocy

this is a fic that spiralled between me and @sketchyspook (ending with this and an absolutely breathtaking commission at the bottom so there are no spoilers :3c) where wars is missing reader after the shadow is defeated <3
however this is a very dark angst-centric fic, so warning for suicidal thoughts and actions.
[masterlist]
“it’s done then?”
“It seems so, the portal looks welcoming for once and the others didn’t seem to have any issue with it.”
Now would be the time to say goodbye to Hyrule for good then, and prepare to step into my love’s world. I won’t be alone in getting used to it, and I won’t have to worry about anything in Hyrule again. Just step through with them. You’re already holding their hand.
“Looking forward to seeing Earth for the first time pretty boy?”
“Well, yeah I can’t say that I’m not now can I?”
“Come on then!!!”
They’re already halfway through the portal, why… Why can’t I step through it? No, no, no, let me through, please.
“Wars, love? You coming?”
“I am - I - I promise I am. I just…”
Why are they getting further from me when I can’t get through, Why- why can’t I get through. No, no It can’t end like this, we promised. They promised I could go with them. So why can’t I? Is this some sick joke from hylia, some cruel unjust punishment for not being canon as [name] mentioned? Do I not deserve a happy ending because of it? Am I just fated to lose them as I
“Wars, please just step through - You’re hurting me with your grip.”
I don’t even get to say anything before they’re torn away from my side. Torn from me as I’m left standing in this field all alone, without my brothers and without my love, what could I have possibly done to deserve such a fate as this? Condemned to a life of solitude, going back to nothing. No, there has to be something, someway for me to get to them. I refuse for it to end like this. No matter who or how I have to ask.
Going to Cia or Lana - that - that would be the best place to start, if anyone would know how to cross between worlds then it would be them. They have to know and they owe me a favour too, so I can just cache that in and be with my love for the rest of my life. Instead of rotting away in this hylia-forsaken world where there is nothing.
><><><><><><
“What do you mean - they don’t exist? Now isn’t the time to be possessive or to mess with me.”
“I’m not lying, they don’t exist. Nothing, I can’t see anything of them.”
“Why should I believe you?”
“If you don’t believe me - ask lana. I am not lying.”
As much as I want to keep pressing, as much as I want to hope that she’s lying, that she’s trying to keep me locked here at her side.
I know she isn’t.
She knows that she won’t be given more chances to act like that, that she won’t be forgiven ever again. That I wouldn’t let her live if she tried to keep me from my darling. The simple fact that she would be willing to pull Lana into this, is enough proof that she is telling the plain truth but there still has to be some way to get to earth. I can pray to hylia can’t I?
“She’s right you know, everywhere we’ve looked there’s no trace of them.”
“Then you can’t have looked ‘everywhere’.”
“You shouldn’t get too caught up on them, there isn’t anything you can do now. Moving on is healthy. They wouldn’t want killing yourself over them.”
This isn’t going to go anywhere, there’s no point in staying here to argue with a wall. That last thing though? Maybe - maybe that wouldn’t be a bad thing. [name], they mentioned that thing called ‘isekai’... it was only fiction in their world but so was hyrule. If hyrule is real, then what are the chances of me ending up in their world if I. If I were to just cut everything short? Anything would be better than living out my time here without them either way.
“Link? You heard what she said right? You look really out of it.”
Just leave. They don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. Leave before there’s no one left to leave.
“Yeah, yeah I heard. I heard. Thanks for looking anyway though.”
She doesn’t seem convinced that I’m alright, but what does it matter, she can’t stop me. She knows she can’t stop me.
Shame that doesn’t stop her from grabbing my hand like she thinks that she has any power over me anymore. Seems like she never knows when to back down.
“You know we’re always here to talk don’t you?”
No response would be satisfying to her, so I don’t even bother- she isn’t worth the energy. No one here is.
“Don’t you dare go through with this plan, you know zelda would never forgive you?”
“Why should I want her forgiveness.”
Finally, that seemed to get through her head, or scared her enough to drop my wrist either way not that I’ll complain her being scared of me should have been a long time coming.
The only thing left to consider is where and how.
Something quick would be preferable, a sword or a knife to the chest but that’s ugly whatever I end up doing I have to look good, for them. An overdose, maybe that would no there’s too many chances for that to go wrong, I could be found by anyone and taken to a medics before it kicks in which would put a wait on trying again. A fall could do it.
If I chose a place the right height to not be instant I could clean myself up as well as it not being painful for too long. I can - I will make that work. There are plenty of places where I could do it, plenty of places that would be simply beautiful too. And what would everyone make of it, the chosen hero deciding to kill himself? Leaving that mess for zelda to clean up, her having to answer why I would go so far as to do this? That’s simply extra.
><><><><><><
I’m here. Here at the last sight of Hyrule I’ll ever see. I think I’ve chosen a good place, shallow water at the base of the cliff, rubble piled closer to the face. It’ll be stunning, I can’t say it won’t be bad to mar it with my own blood but… It’ll be more than worth it.
The only thing left is to steel my nerves and do it.
“ - ou're my baby, say it to me.”
It’s an eerily calming song, one of [name]’s favourites too, one that they always hummed around me and that we listened to together. One that they always said reminded them of me, seems only fitting to go out to it.
“I bet on losing dogs, ‘know they're losing and I'll pay for my place…”
Deep breath in, deep breath out.
Just one step, you can do this link, it’s one quick thing. One quick thing then you can be with them.
“-iors wait!”
Did someone call me by my nickname? No matter, I’m probably just hearing things, I’m too far to back down now though… Seeing as I’m over the ledge.
It - It hurts more than I thought it would, but I can still move if only barely. It’s a few moments I can use to make myself more - more presentable I guess. Just - just have to roll down a little… okay that’s better, my mail is more broken but th-thats fine, I can work with that. Throwing my scarf into a better position is harder than I thought it would be, like my arms can barely move it now. This… this’ll be how I die. I can already feel my heartbeat slowing, my vision blurring and my ears ringing. I wonder how everyone will react to finding me like this, if anyone will even look for me that is.
Is someone standing at the top, or, or is my eyesight going that badly now?
Looks suspiciously like sky…
…too bad I won’t be here to see if it’s really him…

"Gone Like The Wind"
Lana is desperate, the war has been going on for a while and she needed someone good. Someone who could help Link beat not just Cia, but also Ganondorf and Volga and all of them. Who better than the Hero of Legend who killed Ganon four times? Wait a second--That's not the hero, that's a merchant. Second try, surely this time--nope, that's a girl from an island. Third time is the charm, right? Wind saw that portal forming and he knew it was after his brother. There was no way he was letting it have him. TLDR: Wind gets yoinked into the War of Eras during the Linked Universe adventure. This results in some emotional struggles, some mischief, found family, and a lot of violence.
Read On AO3
Warnings: Graphic Violence, Implied Attempted Non-Con (Cia and Warriors), Swearing
----
Legend was having a very normal day, thank you. Nothing insane or abnormally absurd (aside from Wild deciding to try and test the group's spice tolerance for literally no reason this time, what the heck, Champion) happened, no ambushes or anything.
They were literally just walking when a portal--a different one than normal, blue and bright and not quite divine in nature, but powerful--tried to rip open.
Wind and Legend had been at the back, and both had spotted the portal. Legend went for his sword on instinct, but Wind shoved him just as the portal lunged at them.
Someone cried out. The portal was gone as quickly as it had formed and Wind with it.
Legend breathed an islander curse, one taught to him by their now missing hero and one he got scolded for saying by a red haired, bird-loving girl.
"What was that?!" Wild demanded, his voice higher than usual.
"Sailor?" Twilight called. As if that wasn't a portal filled to the brim with pure temporal magic, purer than Nayru's Harp.
Legend, still on the ground from getting shoved, stared at the place Wind had been not seconds ago.
He never thought he'd get angry at the protectiveness Wind displayed over him--it was understandable, he had been younger than him when they first met and even if he was older now by about three years, Wind was still his big brother in a way--but in that moment he felt it. Because of that, Wind had been taken alone. At the very least they'd both would've been taken or just Legend.
"You alright, Kit?" Time asked while Warriors tried to calm Twilight, who grew hysterical.
"Y-Yeah," he forced out, taking the offered hand to stand. "Just--" he cursed again, "I wasn't expecting that."
"To be pushed out of the way, or the... ambush?" Time asked, if Legend wasn't still staring at the spot Wind had been he would've noticed the worried look he was given.
"Both, honestly... he doesn't usually do that."
"Sailor, can you hear me?" Wild shook his slate, holding it to the sky to try and get a signal. "Sailor? Link?"
"LINK!" Four was yelling, Twilight transforming and running into the woods, Four giving chase and calling out.
Sky and Hyrule disappeared another way, Wild following them after only a moment.
Wind hadn't been expecting to see a portal--one he had never seen before--appear behind him and Legend. But some part of him told him that it was after his little (older) brother.
He shoved Legend just before the portal tried to snatch him, taking him instead.
It was disorienting, dizzying, and far worse than any of the other portals he had gone through. He internally apologized for every time he complained about any method of transportation, this was worse than taking tornadoes across the Great Sea.
He slammed into the ground and couldn't help but groan into his teeth, keeping silent as he tried to reorient his mind and get aware of his surroundings.
The ground was cold and hard--stone--and he could hear the chittering of bokoblins. He dazedly looked up, staying low and realizing where he was roughly.
A storage room, the light coming from the door meant it was an outdoor storage room, or one connected to a courtyard. Beside him was an overturned, empty barrel.
He heard footsteps, heavy and imbalanced, monster, approach and he quickly scrambled and pulled the barrel over himself. He needed to get a complete grip of himself before he fought if he wanted a good outcome. He could fight dizzy, hell, he has fought concussed before, but it wasn't his favorite thing to do.
Soon enough, he heard the door shut again and the footsteps fade, still hearing the chittering and snarls of monsters.
"Okay," he breathed. He internally thanked the goddesses or whatever it was that Legend and Twilight usually revered for not letting whatever it was that took him get a second try and drop any of his brothers on him.
He had all his supplies, he had a fairy and a red potion healing wise, and a week's rations for two people in case he was separated from Wild and needed food. He had his weapons, he could handle it, he'd be fine.
He had forged his hero's spirit, he could handle anything the world threw at him and he knew it. Besides, sneaking around in a barrel was familiar enough.
He managed to sneak out of the storage room--the door turned out to be a push/pull door and not needing a knob, lucky him--and just froze whenever he heard a monster nearby.
Then he heard distant battle. He rolled his eyes and after getting his balance standing, he shoved the barrel off.
He heard rapid footsteps and turned quickly.
A woman--scary woman, tall, easily taller than Time--with a huge blade stood there. One look at her and he knew she was dangerous, her eyes promised that, and she readied her blade toward him. She had the same symbol that Wild had on his slate, on her face.
He quickly drew the Phantom Sword and Hero's Shield.
There were monsters all around, but they didn't immediately attack. Wind figured that meant this woman was in charge of them. Wild had mentioned that there were some people who used to be Sheikah who betrayed Hyrule and became servants of Ganondorf (or was it Ganon?), he would guess this woman was one of them.
She attacked him first, and she was fast but extremely powerful. Wind yelped, falling back on his feet and fending off powerful, violent, reverberating blows that made his spinning head infinitely worse.
She dented his shield.
Wind evaded her and fought back, focusing on his evasive attacks and slashing at her whenever he could.
He could see her flagging, but he had a feeling he couldn't win this one.
No. He couldn't risk that. He had to get back to his brothers, he had to make sure--
He slammed into the wall as her blade hit his shield and threw him back. She came at him just as quickly as Warriors could lunge right after an attack. He barely blocked his skull in time, only to get hit in the head with his own shield.
His shield cracked. He rolled on the ground, pain flaring through his bruised body.
He couldn't move, he tried but that hit to his head was awful. He couldn't get to his feet.
Damnit, get up, Link! Get up!
He could hear the screeches of the monsters, bokos he's pretty sure, and the sounds of battle echoed. He got to a knee but swayed and almost collapsed again.
It's okay. Twilight's voice rang in his head. Jus' breathe, Ocean. Head injuries are bad, ya can't always push pass them.
He needed to this time. He was dead if he didn't. Better or worse, he could be captured. He had to push past it!
Black pressed at the edges of his vision.
A weight settled on his shoulder and he froze a whole moment late, seeing the weapon he had been fending off moments before.
"Stand down." The woman's voice sounded underwater.
He grabbed his sword, shaking and he tried to channel his Triforce. Legend said it would help them if they used it.
He could feel its strength flare through him, giving him the briefest moment of clarity and stability.
He slashed at her, throwing himself forward at the same time as she jumped back. She dodged his first slash, but had to block his second.
Be fast, begin your next move while you are doing your current one. Warriors' advice rang through his head, his Triforce flared once more as he cut the woman's side.
She landed one more hit and sent him flying across the stone courtyard.
He was out before he hit the ground.
Quiet chatter, wary sounds, distant grinding and warm laughter.
His body felt heavy, but not hurt. Something scratchy was over him, he felt it on his arms and his hands.
When he pried his eyes open, the soft light of a candlelit lantern greeted him. It took him a moment to adjust and focus, seeing multiple other beds, most of them occupied, and the woman who he fought talking with someone in a white tunic and chain mail armor beneath it. Beside her was...
"Cap'n," he murmured, not even loud enough to travel to them. None of them heard him, clearly, but he did get a better look.
That wasn't Warriors. That was a seventeen year old soldier, it looked like Warriors sure, but distinctly younger, face completely impassive and blank, lacking the scar along his jaw that Wind was familiar with.
Time travel. Wars' quest involved a lot of time travel and people displaced from their times.
He let out a soft breath. If that was where and when he was, he would be fine. He just had to convince them he wasn't against them, and considering the cuff around his left wrist, they didn't know that.
He sat up, noting his head didn't hurt anymore. They healed him, nice.
"You know," he spoke up, keeping his voice light enough that it wouldn't bother the injured soldiers sleeping around the tent, "it's rude to ignore your guests."
The woman who had beat him up turned and glared at him, mini Warriors gave a confused look, and the medic made a surprised noise.
"Who said you were a guest?" The woman asked.
"I did," he replied, grinning at them as he propped his chin on his fist. "Considering someone here snatched me from my time, and considering you attacked me without reason, I'd say that gives me at minimum guest status. How's the war going?"
They stared at him.
"If you truly are displaced in time," the woman said lowly, eyes narrowing. "You would not know of the war."
Wind gave her a wry smirk. "But I do. How about this? My name's Link and I'm the Hero of Winds." He looked at Mini Wars. "I know that my story is still told in this era."
They stared at him.
"Captain," the woman looked at Mini Wars, "bring Lana here, and the kid, he said he could sense your shared spirits?"
Mini Wars nodded and Wind only just noticed the fairy beside him.
"Yes, General," the fairy said and Mini Wars left the tent. The woman approached Wind and he met her eyes unflinchingly.
"You are a skilled fighter," she said. "You fight like a Sheikah."
"I fight like my older brother, who was trained by a Sheikah, the royal army, and someone else he met when he was younger."
He studied her, she was strong, he experienced that firsthand. If she was acknowledging his skill after fighting him concussed, he wondered if he could win in a fair fight. Unlikely, but he'd do better.
"You've experienced time travel before," she stated.
He nodded. "Yeah, and I'll tell you that your portals fucking suck. Even a lizard could do better."
"Excuse me?!" A woman with bright blue hair had just entered the tent. "My portals do not suck!"
"Lady Lana--"
"Yea, they do." Wind argued, noticing a syringe on the table beside him. "Your portals are worse than flying across the ocean on a fucking tornado."
She made an affronted noise, the tent door swished aside as Mini Wars reentered with... a kid.
At first glance, he was reminded of Apple. Second glance, the kid couldn't have looked less like his little brother. Brighter hair, same shade and style's as Time's, a familiar green cap but also a yellow mask on the side of his head... a mask that Time had shown them before. He looked young, younger than Wind even, but his eyes...
He was tired, he had experienced a lot and his confident stance, his dangerous, angry eyes, the way he met Wind's eyes...
"He doesn't have it," the kid declared. "He doesn't have our spirit."
"Of course I don't," he spoke up, gaining their attention again. He didn't look away from the kid's eyes. "You have it. I don't need your special little spirit to be a hero, I forged my own. I made myself the hero when nobody else could."
He was honestly surprised nobody noticed, but he held up his unlocked, picked cuff that no longer clasped around his wrist.
"So, why don’t we talk about how I can help you guys in this war of yours, and you can make sure I get back right to the place and time I left when it's over. I was a bit busy."
"So you are not the famed Hero of Legend?" Lana asked him when they finally sat down to have an actually civil conversation. "The hero who slayed Ganon multiple times?"
"No, but we've met and if you try to drag him into this then we will have a problem," Wind warned her, glaring.
"We are seeking additional support and power," Lana argued.
"And you got me, try and touch my brothers and we'll actually start having problems," Wind retorted, standing from his chair.
Lana glared at him. "Fine." She held her hands up. "You are a renowned hero, I suppose you will suffice... even if you are young."
"I killed Ganondorf by driving my sword through his skull," Wind spat. "I can handle a war."
"If you say so," she sighed. "It has already been ongoing for a year."
Wind hummed. "Good thing I'm a fast learner."
The war apparently picked up soon after Wind arrived. Battles taking place near daily, monsters sieging military camps and towns. Wind found himself fighting beside Link and Mask, who he internally dubbed Mini Wars and Mini Time.
Both were skilled, Mask more than Link, but Link was... He needed help. After a particularly brutal battle not a week after Wind arrived--he hadn't had any time to talk to anyone, he had seen Legend's merchant friend, a familiar wolf who gave him a knowing look--he decided to make Link learn how to fight faster.
He was surprised Impa hadn't taught him it by now, but she seemed busy and everything Link did screamed 'soldier' in a way Wild did on bad days.
"You move too slow," he told Link after they left Mask in the medical wing.
Link flinched, it was hard to notice but Wind could read Legend and Time and compared to them, this kid was as obvious as Aryll.
"You fight like a soldier," Wind corrected before Proxi could yell at him for Link. "You fight like you have people at your side, giving blows when you’re planning your next move."
He frowned.
"Link is a soldier," Proxi said, fluttering in front of Wind scoldingly.
Wind rolled his eyes. "Yes, he is. But the thing is, he's expected to be a hero." He met Link's eyes. "People won't think to fight beside you and cover your mistakes." Sky had said that it was hard to adjust when he began to fight with the other knights. "You have to cover yourself, you have to follow up yourself."
There was a deep rooted sadness, a plea that Wind couldn't decipher in his eyes, and Link nodded.
"How?" Proxi asked.
Wind thought about it and recalled the clearing outside the camp.
"We'll train," he said. He recalled what Warriors had told him once. "You can't fight and expect to think at the same time, especially when you fight alone. You have to always be moving." He headed for the clearing, close enough to camp they weren't missing, but far enough nobody should see them. "My older brother taught me how to fight like a Sheikah," he informed them, "so I'll show you how to do the same, and then we'll see if Impa can help us get better."
"Us?" Proxi asked.
"Eh, I don’t mind learning more."
Between battles, Link--through Proxi--asked Wind to train more, especially after bad battles. Mask started following and throw in in advice, but neither Wind nor Link fought with heavy, two handed weapons like Mask did. So his advice wasn't bad, just didn't go very far.
Wind found himself missing his brothers fast. It was like Hytopia all over again, but this time he had them right there... they just didn't know him yet.
He slipped away from the camp at the end of the second week in this war and ten consecutive battles, and he found a spot to just sit.
He found himself humming, not quite singing but the wind sang with him. Trees rustling to the tune.
He felt someone disturb the breeze and looked over to see Wolfie padding over.
"Hey, Forest," he murmured. Wolfie lowered himself beside him. "Can't change back?"
He boofed.
"Good," he sighed. "I know you hate that... goddesses, when are you? Have you met the captain before?"
Wolfie bobbed his head in a nod.
"Okay, have you finished that quest?"
Wolfie boofed softly.
Wind hummed. "You’re older then... are you even displaced? You live until the Champion's era, right?"
Wolfie gave him a look and Wind wasn't sure how off he was.
"So Midna's displaced. Does she think you’re displaced?"
Wolfie nodded again.
"That must suck ass," Wind laughed, he knew it came out bitter but oh well, he couldn't keep face at the moment. His brother was doomed to live millennia beyond his time, they didn't even know if he'd finally rest after Wild, just that he would be there until him.
They fell silent and he messed with the winds, letting a soft song that he used to hear Wild hum all the time ring through the trees and between the branches and grass.
He buried his face against his knees, just trying to stop thinking. The worst part was that he was hardly anytime into this thing. Warriors said once the war had gone on three years. Time said it was the shortest three years of his life, which both Four and Legend had gotten upset over because how could a stretch of time take longer or shorter than another?
He was two weeks into this, and he was tired. He wanted his brothers back but they were right there.
The wind that brushed over Wolfie suddenly ran into something else. Wind didn't get the chance to look up before he was pulled into strong arms.
"I can't stay like this long, Sailor," Twilight murmured quietly. "They can't know 'bout me."
He wanted to cry. "I want to go back."
"I know, it'll be okay though," Twilight promised. "I'm right here, an' so's the Captain and the Old Man."
Wind laughed. "Ain't much of an old man, isn't he?"
"No, never really has been," Twilight said and Wind was certain there was something deeper to his words. "Alright. Listen to me, Ocean." Wind met his eyes and noticed the blue was much, much sharper than before. "Yer a hero, if you could remake the Triforce you can win a war." He laughed a bit. "You can train our Cap'n into the warrior we meet."
Wind swallowed and nodded.
"I'm gonna to change back now, an' I'm gonna go back to Midna, she ain't gonna be happy I left in the first place, but you come find me if you need me... I think ya'll be fine though."
Wind hugged him one more time before he transformed back into Wolfie.
"Link!" He jumped and saw Mask climbing over a log from the camp. He was glaring at him. "What are you doing out here?"
Wind looked to Twilight, but he was gone, he had disappeared.
"Just..." Wind trailed off. "Thinking."
Mask scoffed. "Right. Well the big Link wants to talk to you about you being here."
He tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
"You’re what, fourteen?"
Wind nodded.
"It's not legal to do anything as a kid here," Mask spat, "anything important at least. He's eighteen, almost nineteen. He had to fucking adopt me when I showed up so I could legally help in this stupid, fucking war that dragged me from my time. I'm guessing that's what he's going to do with you, or if you don’t like him, someone else from here and an adult will need to or you have to go to some orphanage 'til the war's over."
Wind stared, in part of what he said and in part of what he said. "That's--sorry, aren't you too young to be cursing?" That's what Time always told him.
"Fuck off. I'm older than I look," Mask snapped. "Look, three days can very easily become three years, that's all I got to say on that."
Wind blinked, then he shrugged. "Fair enough. But either way, their laws on kids is utter bullshit. I've fought Ganondorf, I killed Ganondorf, I sailed across the entire ocean when I was twelve!"
"And I've killed Ganondorf twice, and I fought the moon," Mask said bluntly, "they don’t care."
He groaned. "Fine. Fine! If it makes things easier, I don't mind the Captain adopting me."
Mask made a face--he must get better at controlling his face in the future--and Wind could tell he didn't like that.
He frowned. "Unless you don’t like that."
"I didn't say I did, fucking--"
"You didn't need to." Wind realized even if he claimed to be older than he looked, he was definitely still a kid. "Do we need to go back now?"
"No..."
"Why don’t you join me then?" Wind gestured to the forest floor beside him. "I was listening to music."
"What music?"
Wind grinned. "Listen."
He twitched his fingers, he didn't need the Wind Waker anymore to control the winds, it was a part of him. Soon, the wind sang around them. A song that Time taught him when he pestered the old man into playing his ocarina--the wooden one, the non-magic one--reverberated around him.
Mask froze, eyes widening as he looked up and listened to the upbeat song. The forest itself seemed to like it. Wind had noticed this particular song did well in forests.
"How..." Mask croaked. "What..."
"My older brother taught me," Wind said and Mask snapped his head toward him. Wind gave him a smile. "He said it's a gate to the past... a past we can't return to, but that doesn't mean it has to be sad, there's a future we can go to instead."
Mask was trembling a bit, his hand rested on his pouch. "Can you make it keep playing?"
Wind smiled and nodded. Mask sat down beside him and just listened.
"Do you know any other songs?" Mask asked, quiet as if he feared disturbing the song that was literally in the airs
Wind orchestrated with his fingers, small, imperceptible movements.
The song changed to the one Tetra taught him, a song she only vaguely remembered as the one her mother sang to her. He learned the whole thing from Legend.
"How... How do you know this one?" Mask asked.
"My best friend taught it to me," he said. "She only knows part of it, her mom sang it to her as a lullaby but she died and now my friend can't remember the whole thing anymore. My little brother knows the whole thing though, he taught me the rest."
"Little brother? How many do you have?"
"Ah, technically I only have a little sister. Blood-wise at least." He smiled up at the sky, thinking of Aryll and teaching her those constellations that shone overhead. "But I've got eight brothers, most older, one of them was younger than me but time travel made him older, he's still my little brother though. I'm not related to them though."
Mask nodded. "So the little brother is who taught you this song?"
"Yeah."
"Is he a prince? Because this song is for the royal family. Ima guess your best friend is your Zelda, we found out both Captain Link and I have a Zelda."
Wind smiled. "Her name is Tetra, actually, but yeah she's my Zelda. As for him... I don't know, if he is, he never told me. He did mention having a sister though."
"Maybe you should've asked," Mask said. "If he is... well, at least I know it's not completely impossible for the goddess to have sons."
Wind had no clue what he meant by that but he left it alone.
The song kept playing through the air, and a moment later, Wind felt Mask fall asleep against his shoulder. He couldn't help but smile softly, brushing curtain bangs aside.
He knew Mask would look like the little kid he clearly was if he just stopped scowling.
He felt someone draw near and he lightened their footsteps to force them to be quieter, and reached for his sword in case it wasn't someone he could trust.
Wolfie entered, ridden by Midna, followed by Link.
"There--"
"Shh," Wind hissed. Midna almost argued but fell quiet when she saw Mask asleep.
Link, who Wind had only seen tense and firm since they... met, lost all tension in his shoulders as he approached.
"He's fine," Wind whisper before Proxi could say a word. "I was playing some tunes and I guess the lullabies were too good."
"Tunes?" Link repeated, smiling softly and Wind startled a bit at hearing his voice. "Odd word. Suits you."
He stared at him for only a moment before smiling. "Thanks... I guess." He glanced at Mask, then at Link. "I think you'll have better luck taking him to bed than I will."
Link hummed. "Thank you, Tune."
Tune. He liked that.
"It's nothing," he promised quietly. "Kid needs his sleep."
Link laughed quietly. He reached over and Tune clapped silently when he managed to pick up Mask without waking the kid. Link rolled his eyes and lightly kicked him.
"Come on," he whispered, "you need sleep too."
Tune grinned at him and bounced up to his feet. He was about to retort when Mask shifted in Link's arms. They froze.
Tune mimed zipping his lips shut and Link nodded. They left the clearing and Tune flicked his fingers to bring the lullaby back to the air, Midna and Wolfie followed them while Proxi settled on Link's head.
Midna floated around Link to coo mockingly at Mask, he gave her a pointed look. Tune smiled softly as Proxi hissed warnings at Midna.
He startled when Wolfie nosed his hand. Then he just smiled and pet his head for a second, not enough to be petting him, but as an acknowledgment.
He wasn't alone. He had his brothers here. Some a bit younger--some a lot younger, and some much, much older, but they were still his brothers.
He wondered how long he'd be gone from the quest... he wondered if he'd ever return.
Warriors glared at the fire after everyone gathered again. They spent the whole day searching on the off chance that Wind had only been displaced in space and not time.
"Maybe we're not going far enough?" Sky tried.
"He should be getting a signal from my slate," Wild sighed. "He could call me all the way from Lurelin when I was in the Akkala Research Lab. Opposite sides of the country."
"I..." Sky sighed, dropping his head into his hands.
"Can I cook?" Legend asked suddenly. Warriors looked over at their veteran, who had hardly said a word since Wind was taken. He was flexing his hands and fidgeting.
Wild handed over his slate and Warriors shifted away from the fire as Legend knelt by it.
"What even happened?" Four wondered aloud. "That portal had a purpose. It wanted one of us, obviously, and Wind was just the one who it got. But why?"
Warriors wondered that too. It had looked a lot like Lana's and Cia's portals, but the war was over, Lana didn't do portals and Cia was gone. Nobody could form those portals anymore, so obviously that wasn't it.
An hour later, they were eating cookies.
Nobody knew how Legend made cookies in a cooking pot, but none of them decided to question it. Though Warriors was a bit concerned when he saw the veteran handing Wild a... a whole pie?
Tune was fifteen and staring at the carnage of their camp.
No, they weren't post battle, but he almost wished they were.
"Why?" He asked, voice strained.
Mask grinned at him. "Because."
"You dyed Impa's hair bright green."
"Yep."
"She's going to kill you."
"She doesn't know it was me."
Tune inhaled carefully. "Look, kid, I--Never mind. Just, next time get that guy who told Link--"
"That all he is is a pretty face?" A hysterical scream echoed through the camp as Mask's grin grew. "I already did."
Tune looked over and lo and behold, a soldier was on fire.
"Good job," he said. Mask grinned brighter and he disappeared to oceans knew where.
Tune didn't know how Link couldn't tell it was Mask responsible for those incidents--Tune called them Mask Incidents--but he didn't and it was the funniest thing ever.
Mask hoped the war wouldn't end some days, the nice days, the ones he could pull tricks on Link and run off with Tune only for Midna and Wolfie to drag them back.
Other days, he almost wished he was back in Termina, at least it never got that bad there.
He never knew where Tune stood on that scale, he knew his big brother fellow hero missed his brothers and his family back home, but Tune never seemed to show that.
He noticed him start drawing, and for the first few months, Tune's scrapped sketches that Mask never got full view of were thrown into a fire. Almost an entire year went by like that until Tune stopped and then would hug his sketchbook to his chest.
Mask never thought Tune could be sad, not truly sad. He'd seen the older kid get mad, usually when someone was hurt, he'd seen him happy and everything else. Never upset or sad.
Not until one late night he woke up to screaming and crying.
Mask shot up. He saw the swish of Link's scarf and then saw the source of the screaming in Tune, who was now just sobbing in his bed.
Mask had felt fear before, but not often for another person. Usually he was the one in danger, this war had changed that to an extent but still.
In that moment, he feared to his core that Tune had been poisoned in the night or something. He scrambled up as Link wrapped Tune up in his scarf.
"Shh--it's okay, you’re okay, it's alright, Link," Link murmured softly into Tune's temple. Tune sobbed and cling to him.
It clicked. A nightmare.
"Please," Tune begged.
"Its okay. We're right here. Mask is with us, I got you, you’re right here. It's okay," Link promised. "You’re okay. It's okay."
"It's not," Tune sobbed. "I want to go back."
Mask frowned. What?
"I know," Link promised, and that just cut Mask deeper. "It'll happen eventually, don't worry, it'll be alright."
Several more minutes of crying and quiet platitudes, Link didn't talk to anyone except for Tune and Mask much and Mask almost worried all the talking would hurt his throat as bad as Tune's sounded.
Then Tune went quiet, his shaking slowly ceased. Link wrapped him tighter in his big scarf and looked over at Mask.
Link frowned. "Sprite? Are you okay?"
"Huh?" Mask blinked, startling as he felt a tear fall. "I-I'm fine!"
"C'mere," he said softly. "We'll have a cuddle pile."
Mask huffed but he climbed onto Tune's bed with them.
"What's on your mind, Sprite?" Link asked quietly.
Mask sighed. "He wants to leave us."
Link squeezed his arm. "It's not that, it's... it's not us, it's them. You know he loves us, he's adopted you just as much as I have at this point." Mask snorted. "It's just... he misses those siblings he talks about all the time."
"But we're right here," Mask insisted, letting Link pull him close and feeling his interrupted sleep tug on him.
"I know, Sprite," Link whispered against his head. "I know, but we only miss what we don't have."
Tune was sixteen and staring at his Sheikah stone. He had tried to call Wild maybe a thousand times since he ended up here.
He was exactly sixteen, actually... it was his birthday. He was officially the same age as Four.
He had spent hours and hours learning how to draw well, and it got him a sketchbook full of pictures of the others. He stared at the group picture he'd drawn, then flicked a few pages, tracing the dark lines of Wild's scars, Four's eyes, Hyrule's ears, Legend's smirk, Twilight's tattoo, Time's nose, Warriors' smile.
He was so engrossed in memories he didn't even notice someone sit beside him until they spoke.
"Is that Captain Link? You messed up, he doesn't have a scar there." Mask pointed at the scar against Warriors' neck.
Tune jerked his sketchbook back against his chest, hiding the drawings from the kid.
Mask gave him a narrowed eyed look. "What? You've shown me your stuff before."
"Not them," he said, clutching his sketchbook tight. "Look, I... It's not our Link, that's my older brother."
Mask stared at him. "He looks a lot like Link."
"I know," Tune let out a strained, bitter laugh. "Oh trust me, I know."
He frowned. "Does... Does that bother you?" His words were careful and very strained. It didn't take a Mask expert to know he was uncomfortable with saying them.
Tune snorted. "Don’t hurt yourself. We both know that comfort ain't your thing."
Mask huffed. "Oh fuck off. I'm trying."
Tune laughed a bit. He trailed off, the dancing and crackling fire almost letting him pretend he was in a very different camp.
"A little bit," he admitted. "Sometimes I'll... Sometimes I look over and I think it's him, I think it's my brother--and yeah, Link is my brother, adoption or not. I wouldn't trade either of you for anything, I just.." he sighed. "I miss them. I miss Aryll and Tetra and my Grandma. Aryll's almost fourteen now."
"How... How old are you?"
Tune looked at the sky. "Sixteen."
"Wait really? As of when?"
He smiled sadly. "Today."
Mask made an affronted noise. "And you didn't say anything?! Okay, no more moping!" He grabbed Tune's arm and dragged him up. "Link!"
They had a whole, thrown together party after the others found out it was Tune's birthday. Between Marin's familiar islander singing and dancing, Ravio's ability to just have everything you need when you need it, and everyone else's just...
It was a good night; a good birthday.
Tune searched the battlefield, the blood and carnage around them, and more particularly, Link's absence.
"Mask!" He barked, turning the corner of the dark palace and spotting the young hero stumbling back after prying his sword free of a ribcage. "Where's the Captain?"
"He chased Cia somewhere," Mask spat, glaring at the bodies. He fixed his Keaton mask on the side of his head. "I couldn't keep up with all the monsters."
With Cia? Tune cursed Link's insistence on keeping Mask out of the loop on what Cia really wanted, even if he wholeheartedly understood and agreed.
"Which way?" He demanded.
Mask gestured down the hall. "That way, don't know from there."
"Keep up," Tune snapped. He pulled the Wind Waker from his pouch, he'd need the--what did Legend call it, a focus?--extra help from the baton. He extended his senses into the wind and blew it outward, running down the hall.
A moblin was blasted out a window and he finally sensed where Link--and Cia--was.
He stopped by a broken window, eyes narrowing. "They're on the top floor. Get there fast, I'm taking a shortcut."
"A shortcut? How--TUNE!"
A tornado flung him out the window and up into the sky.
He spotted the large windows to the top floor, and as they drew closer he could see the glint of Link's sword, the Master Sword, on the ground. He twisted in air and shattered the window as he dove right through it.
Cia snarled as she stepped away from Link, who was on the ground with his back against the wall.
"You little brats--"
"Get the fuck away from him!" Tune lunged at her. She cursed violently, stumbling back and swinging her wand at him. He batted it aside with his shield and tried to slash at her.
Between their anger, neither was quite losing to the other until Tune finally took a hit and wasn't able to get away before Cia grabbed him by the chin.
Link screamed. "No!"
Tune had never heard Link speak outside of safe moments between mostly just the three of them.
Tune froze with the wand pointed at his chest. "You’re... You’re not a hero," she said. "You lack that gorgeous immortal spirit."
"No. No--Stop it Cia!" Link begged, getting to his feet. "Let him go, please!"
Tune snarled. "My spirit is my own. I made it. You can go fuck yourself."
"Please," Link all but whimpered, "please, let him go."
Cia grinned slowly, her eyes slipping to Link.
Tune didn't let her keep her eyes on him long. He kicked her exposed stomach, kneeing the wand in the process. She gasped, falling back and he lunged right at her.
She fell back, but he had the advantage suddenly and she couldn't handle it.
Tune snarled when she used her magic and vanished. But that wasn't what was important.
He turned quickly and ran over to Link, sheathing his sword on his back.
"Link! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did she touch you?" Tune demanded, Link collapsed back to the ground, shaking.
Link made a strangled noise. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's all my fault--"
"No." Tune knelt down in front of him, ignoring the pain flaring through his knee. "No, don't you say that. You didn't ask for this--Link, look at me," he lowered himself to force Link to meet his eyes, "look at me. You didn't ask for this, you didn't ask for any of this. Now talk to me, are you hurt? Did she touch you?"
Link slowly lifted his chin and moved his hand away from his neck. Tune saw the line of blood from the edge of his jaw down to his collarbone.
He pulled out a cloth and a red potion from his pouch, uncorking the potion and letting Link handle drinking it and holding the cloth to the cut.
"Alright, let's go," Tune said softly. "We're going to find Mask and go back to camp, you’re going to clean up and rest, we'll keep watch."
"You need rest too," Link protested weakly.
"I've stayed up longer," Tune promised. "Trust me, I'll rest later. Do you want a hand?"
Link shook his head. Tune nodded and got up, he went and gathered Link's sword and shield as the captain stood unsteadily. He handed the weapons over and led the way out.
Mask was running around the corner just in time.
"You missed it!" Tune teased him. "Too slow I guess."
"You left me!" Mask shoved him. "Brat."
"Older than you."
"I'll kill you."
"And get left behind again?"
Tune kept Mask effectively distracted as they got back to the ended battle and then to camp.
Getting Midna and Wolfie to continue distracting Mask was easy, Tune left with Link and began his vigil for the shaking teenager.
"TUNE!" Mask screamed.
Tune rolled across the rocky battlefield, pain shooting through his head and body.
The battle had been going on for what felt like weeks but was probably only a day or two. It didn't matter either way, Tune had made a mistake that may be costing him his life.
He couldn't get up. He couldn't see. His left arm was broken for sure, he had no chance--
He felt the ground shake as the heavy monster he had been fighting lumbered toward him.
He shouldn't have messed that one up. He could handle big monsters, that was how he handled things. He used his size to his advantage. It shouldn't have caught him but a blade had caught his face right before the thing's mace caught his side.
Now he was laying injured on a battlefield without any support nearby. He was so dead.
An apology went out to the stars, a plea for his families to know he wouldn't come back.
His vision was already dark, but even then it slipped away as unconsciousness took hold.
Link hadn't expected Tune to be the first one down that day, but he heard Mask scream at the same moment he heard the cracking of bones. He saw Tune tumble across the battlefield.
He rushed to get close, but he couldn't manage it.
A burst of power fell over the field, a flicker of Lana's magic too, and Link saw the Fierce Deity unleash its and Mask's fury onto the battlefield.
He ran to get to Tune, slashing through the hordes, but when he reached the area, someone was already there and fending off the horde.
A teenaged girl wielding a cutlass was standing over Tune, Lana's magic around her and her unsteady movements showed she had only just been brought here, Link had thought Lana agreed not to displace more people, but he wouldn't complain when this girl was the only reason he could hope that Tune wasn't dead.
He fought his way to them as Fierce Deity cleared the rest of the field in minutes. The girl turned on him, raising her cutlass.
He halted and held his hands up.
"Who the hell are you and why the fuck is Link hurt?" She demanded.
Proxi flew forward. "We're trying to help him, he's our friend and a dark stalmaster got the drop on him!"
The girl hesitated. "Do you have healing supplies?"
Link nodded.
She moved aside and Link rushed to Tune's side. He called a healing fairy while pouring his water onto a clean cloth and wiping at Tune's blood-covered face.
The girl inhaled sharply. "Great Oceans," she breathed, "Link..."
Link couldn't blame her. Tune's eye was gone. The healing fairy murmured her apologies but she couldn't restore his eye. Otherwise, she healed him, even the broken arm, and he'd wake soon.
Link cleaned the blood from Tune's face. Closing the eye again.
"I... He'll need an eyepatch," the girl said. "To keep things from getting into it."
Link felt the power oppressing the field fade, he looked over and saw the Fierce Deity vanish...
Mask collapsed.
"Mask!" Proxi cried. "Watch him!" She ordered the girl.
Knowing a friend of Tune's was watching him, Link ran to Mask's side.
How had this battle gone so wrong that both his little brothers were hurt? Why was Mask's face covered in blood too?
He skidded across the dirt and pulled Mask into his arms. He shouldn't be injured, Fierce Deity swore to Link once that any harm that comes to Mask is only from the transformation itself, never anything else.
So why was blood gushing from Mask's eye when he hadn't been injured like that before he put on the mask? Why was he passed out?
Link looked over and saw the girl helping Tune to his feet. Tune wobbled a bit, but he was clearly distracted as he just stared at her.
Link shifted his hand to his sword, ready to run to Tune's aid in case this girl wasn't the ally he assumed she was--
Tune tackled her with a cry. "Tetra!"
Tune was a completely different person with Tetra around, Link noticed. Not in a bad or weird way, he just... seemed happier.
Mask was quiet for several days after that battle. His eye was white now, and he had colorful markings on his face. But when Tune was finally allowed to introduce Tetra to the kid, the two teenagers got Mask right back to high spirits.
It felt like ages since the day they both lost an eye, but Tune was glad they were able to make up for each other's blind spots. He was panting, breathing heavily as he and Mask searched for their next opponent yet.
A flash of white came and Mask was lowering his Fierce Deity mask, Tune tensed at seeing the familiar markings on his face and scar over his eye.
"Link!" Tetra jogged over with Midna and Wolfie in tow. "Is it over?"
"Not sure," Tune said. "We should go find the Captain. He'd be at the center of anything if it's not."
They nodded.
Soon enough, they did find Link, and they found Lana holding Cia's unmoving form.
The moment Tune met Lana's eyes, he knew. He grabbed Tetra's hand. She startled and shot him a glare but didn't pull away.
Tune looked over at Mask beside him, at how different he was since they first met. He was a decent bit taller now but not yet even taller than Tune. He was fifteen, Tune knew, the three years of war and three years in Termina put his mental age a year younger than Tune. Physically though, he was only twelve.
He tried to commit the kid he knows to memory. His face, the still red scar over his eye, the lack of sight in that same eye, the markings... the softer look he didn't have when they first met. He wasn't as jaded and exhausted anymore.
"Mask! Tune!" Link ran over to them. "Are you guys okay?"
"We're fine," Mask said dismissively. "What about you?"
"I'm okay," Link promised. Tune was proud of how much he grew since they met, how much more he spoke. "It's--"
"Link," Tune spoke, letting go of Tetra to move forward. "We're leaving."
Mask spun to look at him. "What?!"
Link stared.
Tune nodded to Lana, who was pressing her forehead to Cia's and not looking at them yet, whispering something.
"It's time for us to return," Tune said quietly. "Their magic is growing right now, I can feel it, can't you?"
Mask stared, then tears bubbled in his eyes. "I..."
"Yeah," Tune said. "We're leaving soon." He stepped closer. "I'll see you soon."
"Don’t say that," Link whispered and he pulled Tune into a hug, Mask too.
"Time's a weird thing, Captain," Tune laughed. "Who knows, maybe Mask here will be the oldest of us next time."
"I hope not," Mask grumbled. "I like being the youngest, even if being a kid sucks ass. Being the oldest means responsibility."
Link laughed. "And we all know you hate being responsible," Link teased.
"I... I don’t want to go," Mask admitted.
"I know," Tune sighed. "But hey, isn't there anyone back home you'd like to see again? An old friend, someone who helped you out? What about that horse of yours?"
Mask gave him a more vulnerable, sad look than he'd ever seen on the young hero's face. "But you..."
"Here." Tune suddenly pressed his Wind Waker into Mask's hands. "Keep this safe for me. Give it back next time I see you."
"Wha--but--"
"Nope. No arguments. Maybe you'll have some fun with it and the Song of Storms."
Mask clutched the baton to his chest. Link ruffled Tune's hair.
"You’re a good brother," Link told him. "Be safe, okay, sailor?"
Tune grinned. "Of course."
They could all feel the moment Lana and Cia were righting and returning everyone to their times. Tune quickly hugged Wolfie before he grabbed Tetra's hand.
"Wait!" Mask suddenly ran and shoved something wooden into Tune's chest. Tune startled and he stared in shock at the item he was given. He saw Mask wipe a tear from his face. "So--So you know I won't use it anymore."
"Mask--"
"No. Keep it--we'll trade back next time."
Tune laughed softly. "Alright, fine."
Link pulled them both into another hug, he signed a goodbye to the others as well, and Tune clutched the Fierce Deity mask against his chest.
Everyone waved goodbye, and he waved back as the world vanished around him, Tetra included.
Tune knew he was different from how he was before the war. He was older, for one. Two years older.
He looked more like a pirate, eye patch for his right eye, a scar along his lower arm, he couldn't fit his lobster shirt anymore--it got torn up beyond their ability to repair it, but he kept it in case maybe Legend could--but he still kept blue, though it was a darker shade and more of a jacket than a shirt, he thought he looked more like a pirate... the jacket definitely didn't look like Linebeck's either.
As he found himself standing in a forest, alone, he looked down at the mask in his hands, brushing a finger over the markings it shared with his little brother.
He sighed softly, put it away, swiped the tears from his face, and started to look around for any path or sign of hylian or human life.
It was dark before he spotted anything, and that was a fire.
He wandered toward the fire, moving as lightly as possible and not making a sound as he did so.
He came up to a fire where a familiar--painfully so, his art never did them justice, suddenly his heart hurt at seeing them--group of hylians sat around a fire.
He took a breath, backed up, made certain the closest person was Warriors who would attack but would hesitate when he saw him--he trusted that--and he entered the light of the fire.
The camp was quieter than usual. Legend knew exactly why.
Wind was still missing, a week and one new era later, their youngest was still gone.
Legend didn't ever know he could... bake with a cooking pot, but somehow he could and did. He also didn't know that he stress baked still, but apparently yep, that too.
He wasn't sure how to keep morale up either, not anymore. Wind always helped in that regard.
Suddenly he heard branches cracking and someone stumbled into their camp. He grabbed his sword and was ready to attack.
"I have been looking for years--" the newcomer with extremely familiar magic began, "and I still haven't figured out where you got the gall to pretend you're responsible!"
There was a brief moment of silence before Warriors burst into laughter and Time groaned.
Legend blinked. "SAILOR?!"
Warriors cackled louder, Time held his head in his hands, and the newcomer--messy blond hair, an eyepatch over one eye, a dark blue coat with a lobster sewn onto the chest pocket, a huge, familiar smirk--gave Legend a bright smile in replacement of that smirk.
"Knew you'd recognize me, Apple." Wind laughed. "Honestly, how did you convince everyone you’re actually responsible, Mask? Myself included. You're an absolute menace and I have the scars to prove it."
"I never scarred you."
"Mentally you did!"
"Please. You were just as involved."
"Boys."
Sky made a surprised noise as both Time and Wind shut up at Warriors' voice, but Warriors was grinning like an idiot and Legend was so confused.
"Honestly, not even ten seconds back together and you’re causing problems."
"He's the one who set Impa's tent on fire!"
"You--" Time clicked his jaw shut and glared at Wind. "You're lucky I'm an adult now."
"As if that stopped you before," he retorted. He crossed his arms and redirected his gaze to everyone else. "So, it's been two years for me, I can tell you that war sucks and I'm still younger than my little brothers. Someone wanna remind me what shit is going down again? I have no clue what I've forgotten."
"I give up," Four declared, falling back onto the ground. "I think that makes me the youngest now. Yayyyyy."
"I don't even..." Wild trailed off.
Legend couldn't help but agree with all of them.
Twilight looked genuinely exhausted, Sky confused, Time seemed like he very much wasn't the annoyingly vague and mysterious sage person and instead an annoyed kid who got called out, Warriors looked rather content, Four and Wild seemed done, and Hyrule had visibly checked out at some point. Legend felt like he was some mix of all of the above with the exception of Warriors and Time, since they apparently knew what was going on.
He sighed heavily and scooted a bit closer to Twilight. He pat the open ground beside him. "Sit down, update us and we'll update you."
He knew that was the right move as he felt Wind's magic swell and envelop his like a tornado. Wind did sit beside him and immediately launched into a story about how he ended up in some storage room and got beat up by some "badass Sheikah lady" who was apparently Warriors' Impa, and who helped Wind teach Warriors how to fight like he does... because Warriors was the one to teach Wind how to fight that way.
He also talked about how Time was not responsible and was literally faking it til he made it because they put him on a pedestal, and Wind was certain that every time they turned to him for advice, Time internally panicked and gave some vague response to escape it.
He supposed he'd have to get used to it, Wind was back, Ocean was back... and older now. He wasn't so much younger than Legend anymore...
He also had dirt on Time and Legend was looking forward to how things changed from here.
"Hey, Tune."
Everyone glanced at Time as Wind tilted his head.
"Yeah?"
Time threw something at him and Wind caught it. Legend's eyes widened as he saw Wind holding his Wind Waker and smile softly.
"You actually kept it," he said, holding the baton carefully. He grinned at Time. "Thanks. Want your mask back?"
"Keep it safe for me, just a little longer," Time told him.
Wind nodded firmly, a certain look in his eyes as he glanced at his side where his pouch was, as if warning it to stay put.

A Work In Progress For My Hyrule Warriors x Linked Universe Fanfic (Character List) :)
Lemme know what you think, and put your thoughts below! Basically, all the heroes were dropped off in the middle of Warriors' era for their first meeting. Who will they trust? And how much blood will be spilled?
“Heroes”
Warriors- The general of the Hyrule troops. He is also the first to meet with all the new Links brought by Hylia.
Mask(Time)- The first Link that appeared in the war. He stays in his child form except in dire situations.
Tune(Wind)- The second Link to appear, joining with Tetra. The two of them will take a bit to adjust to solid ground and not endless waves.
Spirit (Toon Link)- Appeared soon after Tune with Phantom. All four know they’re relatives, but keep it on the down low. For now, both Tune and Spirit are around the same age.
Sky- Fi personally introduced Sky to the rest of the heroes, having vanished in the middle of the night once she sensed his presence. Sky suffers from breathing problems and is mostly kept on the backlines as a last resort.
Artemis/Sheik- The ruler over Hyrule, and is regarded as the main general (with Warriors as her backup). She only dresses as Sheik for recon missions, or if she wants to get away from everyone.
Tetra- She uses her guns for range, providing covering fire for the troops. She is also a powerful sword wielder. She also is the best at controlling ships and loves water-based missions.
Phantom (Toon Zelda)- One of the many powerhouses in the troops due to her possessive abilities. Although many people can see her, hitting her is a different story. She has gotten very good at dodging while she’s separated from her body.
Linkle- Due to her clumsiness and lack of directions, Linkle is barely on the battlefield except if the fight is close to the main base. She is used mostly to gather supplies and teach less experienced troops how to fire crossbows.
Impa- She trains all new troops and is a close friend of Artemis. She is also a massive powerhouse.
Lana- A powerful sorcerer and healer. Due to her and Cia’s unique circumstances, she is mostly used as a healer and support, helping those who suffer wounds during battles.
Darunia-
Ruto-
Fi-
King Daphnes-
Medli-
Marin-
Neutral
Midna-
Twilight-
Agitha-
Ravio-
Tingle-
Skullkid/Majora-
“Villains”
Ganondorf (General Villain)-
Cia (Warriors’ Villain)-
Zant (Twilight’s Villain)-
Ghirahim (Sky’s Villain)-
Volga (Warriors’ Villain)-
Wizzro (Warriors’ Villain)-
Yuga (Legend’s Villain)-
Astor (Wild’s Villain)-
Bellum (Wind’s Villain)-
Onox (Legend’s Villain)-
Vaati (Four’s Villain)-
Octavio (General Villain)-
Four- Cia was able to manipulate Four to her side by promising to revive Shadow. They only joined after seeing Vaati’s revival with their own eyes. Nobody knows about the Colors (besides Vaati, but the sorcerer is keeping it a secret).
Wild- With his shattered memories, Cia was easily able to convince Wild that the heroes were the bad guys in the situation, saying that they were the reason why he was brought here and away from his era. Wild is a soldier at heart and dutifully follows the orders of the person who helped him first, Cia.
Hyrule- Hyrule, in a new era filled with bloodshed and violence, was reduced to his paranoid and aggressive behavior from his past. He lashes out like a wild animal, yet will retreat as soon as a drop of his blood is spilled. Only Cia and Ganondorf know about the magical abilities of his blood and will collect it to heal/revive those who fall in battle. The only reason why he stays with the villains is due to Cia’s kindness towards him. Is it manipulation? Or does she have a soft spot for the hero?
Legend- Legend is not trustful of anyone besides Hyrule, who he knows is his predecessor. He stays with the villains just to keep an eye on the other. He doesn’t trust the other villains, but he also doesn’t trust the heroes. They’re all suspicious in his eyes.

Hey Jes could you pretty please give me a thorough rundown of the cannon Hyrules Warriors events
ie the actual stuff that happens in game.
Bc I really want to write stuff for HW and Lu as well as make theory posts for it but idk much of anything abt HW
Jes this is a free invitation to fucking yap to an extreme about hyrule warriors
Cause all I know is the first 10 minutes of it, Zelda has bad dream, we see link fighting, battle happens , link fight and got brunt by Volga he is now the hero and that’s it
So pretty please tell me abt HW
so the thing about hw is you can understand like 80% of the plot from JUST the cutscenes, and someone put it together like a movie on youtube and this is only like an hour long:
youtube
admittedly i have not played this game in a while and i forgot some of the smaller things about it, so my apologies if any of this is wrong but in summary:
the game starts with the war coming to the castle and then Link, some random ass soldier, runs into Volga on the field and Volga is genuinely kinda like “can you get your unimportant ass out of the fucking way good lord” and he tries to kill Link (and Impa too i think) and this awakens the triforce or something and then boom: Link is revealed to be the hero and everyone’s kinda like “oh good we found him!!” while Link, mid battle, is like “oh what the fuck…” and at the end of this first battle Zelda goes missing (they find her next battle, but she’s Sheik and they don’t know that)
Ganon was split into like four different pieces and he was Not too happy about this so he decided to corrupt this sorceress and she got split into two people, Lana and Cia, and Ganon basically promised Cia Link as like a war prize if she helped him basically put himself back in one piece and the pieces of Ganon were stuck in different timelines so that’s why all these portals get opened, because the bad guys need to get all of Ganon in one spot but this ALSO allowed Link to get allies from said times, like Midna and Fi
basically the first half of the game is them trying to close these gates to other times IN said other times so shit can go back to normal and for all of five seconds yay the war was over, but then what ends up happening is the Ganon Pieces get unstuck and he forms a whole dude again and he’s a little pissed (and i think this happened because the master sword was pulled and that’s what was holding back the fourth piece of Ganon? i don’t remember its been a hot minute) anyways Ganon takes Zant and Ghirahim and steals the ENTIRE triforce, and Link finds a way to kick his ass anyway, which is CRAZY and not enough people talk about the fact that Wars beat a fully triforced Ganon
Edit: JUST AN ADDITION, but im pretty sure he is canonically just a commander, not a captain (my dear mutual @hyruledwarriorr probably knows more than i do about that one, and also he might have things to add to this he loves hw alskkdkd)

I'd like to hear about your hw rewrite ideas 👀
- hero-of-the-wolf
*cracks knuckles* gladly!
I mostly just have notes on fleshing out the story, changing a few characters, actually fitting the game and other era stuff in with canon in a way that might make sense and things like that. And I only really have stuff about the base game since that’s the one I own, so I’m not going to go into dlc/definitive edition stuff as much. I’m going to focus on the three different displaced eras mostly in this post just because that’s what I’ve mostly got fleshed out the most :)
But first I also have to mention a couple other things first:
Kid Link has been upgraded to story mode character, instead of merely unlockable in that one mode. Sheik has a much more legitimate reason to exist and Impa realizes much earlier that this random Sheikah warrior is actually the missing Zelda. Cia still looks suggestive, but has clothes that look more like clothes and not just underwear. She and Lana have the same skin tone. And I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting but that’s the main stuff. Moving on!
Skyward Sword
I’m placing this one about... hm. I actually have two ideas here about that.
The first is to have this take place a few hundred years before skyward sword, and be only a distant history lesson by the time sksw itself rolls around, which would make sense but for the fact that Skyloft looks a little too much like it does in sksw to be that far off.
The other idea is to make it be fifty or so years before sksw, and be part of the reason Skyloft isn’t all that populated. The bit of war that touched them took out a fair amount of the population, and Gaepora was a kid around when this all went down, which inspired him to start the knight academy when he was older. Both have their pros and cons, though I think I’m leaning towards the second.
That’s the biggest thing I’m changing for this era, though I will address the Groosenator paradox, being “how can the Groosenator be around to stop the imprisonef if this is before Groose is even born”. Well you see, canons in loz have two names: canon, and Groosenator. The army from hw brings their canons along with them when they go to sksw’s era, and they call them groosenators because they’re from an era after they were invented. Bam.
Ocarina of Time
Placing the time for this one is tricky, since Ruto is an adult, but I don’t know if she’s like... gone through oot..? Is this the mm/tp timeline where Link is still around? Is this the ww timeline where Link left? I do not know. And I don’t know which makes more sense.
Aside from the Sheik stuff I’m largely leaving this bit untouched. I think it would be fun to include more sages, maybe even oot Zelda, but admittedly I haven’t thought this one through quite as much (except for the sheik stuff).
Twilight princess
I’m placing the era of twilight in this game as happening after tp itself. “But Peggy where’s tp Link then” he’s either on vacation so far away he didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late or Cia accidentally yeeted him to botw as a wolf. Don’t worry about it.
Anywho this part begins with Lana heading to twilight-era Hyrule, finding it absolutely covered in twilight, and later meeting Agitha and Midna. In my version I’m kicking out Agitha as a main playable character, because out of all the cool characters in twilight princess they picked her?? The bug girl?? She’s nice and all but no. Sorry. She can still be around as part of the story (saving her makes a good level mechanic), but not as a major player. She can even be playable still, but not as a major person.
I’m replacing her with the Resistance. Lana gets to the era of twilight and finds Rusl, Shad, Ashei, and maybe Auru (don’t know if he’d be active enough to want to fight) trying fruitlessly to protect Kakariko, figure out what the heck is going on, where the huge influx of monsters came from, and how the heckin twilight is back. Lana explains about the monsters, but can’t tell them much about the twilight. Somewhere in here Midna shows up on her hunt for Cia, furious at being an imp again, even more furious about the twilight spread over Hyrule again, and especially majorly furious that Zant is somehow back. The game never explains this, but I’m saying that Cia somehow brought him back. Or he was secretly not dead and laying low. One of those.
The Resistance goes along with Lana (and Midna once they convince her they’re on the same side) to stop Zant (Zelda maybe shows up for a bit, but she’s holding down the fort in Hyrule, so after a quick “oh crap Midna’s here that’s bad”, she’s not around as much). I figure the Resistance members are all one “character” in that each combo is like, a different one of them or something. Or they’d all be different lol idk. This is getting really long and I’m running out of steam haha.
But yeah those are my thoughts on those parts at least— I have more thoughts about character interactions and some other random things, but like I said this is really long XD hopefully that answers your question at least a little :)
#answers from the floor#lovely hero of the wolf#hyrule warriors#legend of zelda#I’m kinda sleepy so I KNOW I’m forgetting stuff#but yeah just stuff to make it actually make SENSE

You asked for Linkle HCs? I’m here to provide. There are a few headcanons that involve Link as well
Like you, I also headcanon Linkle as Link’s twin sister. I also headcanon that neither of the twins know who is older. The twins were separated as babies and adopted by different families. Everyone who would have the knowledge has died. Except Lana who refuses to tell
Linkle was adopted by an elderly couple as their granddaughter. They have a simple farm. They bought the cuccos for meat but Linkle loved them too much for them to be dinner.
Linkle and Link share the Triforce of Courage. Link originally was the sole owner of it but after it was stolen by Cia and returned, the Triforce itself spilt into two to keep it from being stolen again. That infuriated Ganondorf. (I got this headcanon from a piece of art by @fuwafuwallen. I love their art.)
Linkle’s birth parents were extremely rich. Like 2nd to the crown rich. When she meet Link and learned of their relationship, they worked together to get their inheritance. Linkle loves to spoil her grandparents and cuccos using the money. Not all the time but enough.
Linkle, after entering a battle and fighting in it, was allowed to join the army as independent, somewhat drafted, archer ranger. She loves it.
She was given the title, the Cucco master and handler.
She proudly calls herself Auntie to the younger heroes and kids
She often bluntly asks Zelda or Link when their wedding is.
She and Link were once de-aged into newborns during the war by Wizzro. He was aiming at Volga to turn him into an egg. Tune has many, many pictures of the event. Mask was disgusted after Link puked on him. Ravio got puked on by Linkle. Because the twins looked even more identical as babies, their temporary onesies had stuff they liked to identify them. Linkle had, of course, cuccos while Link had fairies and horses.
Linkle and Link once nearly burned down a forest. They put it out.
I hope you enjoy these!
I enjoy these a lot! I do HC Link and Linkle as originally coming from a farm, but only Linkle staying behind while Link went to Castle Town to study and eventually become a soldier. Linkle had the option too but she didn't want to deal with Castle Town as a whole.
I never thought about Linkle and Link sharing two halves of the same triforce piece, but now that you've brought that to my attention I'm loving the concept. Would be cool to add with maybe Linkle going on her own adventure (with dungeons and stuff) as opposed to her brother's where it was just the war and timey whimey stuff.
And Linkle calling herself Mask's and Tune's aunt!!! I have this HC too and I've been meaning to draw something for it, I just need a bit more free time to do it ^^
HW Link is a fire hazard and I will not change my mind. Though it would be funny if they kept blaming each other for the incident when asked and no one can be 100% sure who did it. The answer is both.

Any Sky or Warriors thoughts you want to share?
Lemme think...these are more general, not really specific to any particular story of mine.
Sky:
Before his journey, Sky didn't really care much about anything at all--he'd do what was asked of him. Nothing more, nothing less. He has lots of natural talent so he never really had to try at anything. Just the kind of guy that floats through life.
Obviously, this changed on his journey. To me, Skyward Sword is a story in which Sky learns to care. He starts off as someone who has to be constantly led around and told what to do. By the end, he's charging in and learning all sorts of new things and doing sidequests of his own initiative.
Iirc, the game's sidequests only really open up once Zelda takes her long nap. I kinda see this as Sky finally slowing down from chasing after her and working to help others who he encounters.
Overall, Sky's character arc is about building the habits of a hero, and becoming someone who is more 'grounded' instead of losing track of time daydreaming his life away. He still has to actively make the decision to be kind...but it's becoming his default.
Heavy footed. While his swordsmanship is swift and among the most technically skilled in the Chain, Sky doesn't watch where he steps. Do not take his ass bug collecting unless you're prepared to grieve for some lost little lives.
On a related note, he'll knock down hornet nests on purpose. He can catch all the hornets buzzing around him while scooping up any larvae within a minute. Without getting stung. It's terrifying.
Does not know how to pace himself. It's all or nothing with this guy for everything he does. His stamina isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things, but he tends to overdo it and has to take regular breaks as a result.
Warriors:
Was not drafted into the military--he signed up because he wanted to protect his home. Warriors has mostly forgotten this. It's hard to remember that he willingly joined in order to help people after discovering that he's the 'reason' the war started in the first place.
This man has so many trust issues. Not just from the various traitors he encountered during the war. Most people in his era only think of him as the hero, and will act accordingly (often with their own interests in mind).
Which is particularly tragic because he is a romantic at heart. He would love to be in a relationship, but every tentative relationship he's started post-war has ended when the other person slips up and reveals a hidden motive behind getting close to him.
Pretty much the only people he fully trusts are the other playable characters that consistently fought alongside him during the war. Which is a shame because that meant that most of his support network vanished post-war. Zelda and Impa are the people he's closest with nowadays (though the Chain are rapidly becoming like family to him, he's realistic about the fact that he'll have to say goodbye again).
Okay, this one's a bit of a stretch so I just ask that you be patient: Warriors could have fallen for Cia if she'd approached him somewhat normally. Like I said, he's a romantic kind of guy. A powerful sorceress falling in love with a knight (or even just a commoner) is something out of a romance novel, and he would've been down to try being with her. No idea how that would've worked out since we don't know much about who Cia is without the whole darkness and desire thing, but if Lana is any indication then I think they might've had a chance. Unfortunately the war and the major creep factor and just everything has made it so that it is not even remotely an option anymore.
Random personal headcanon: he can knit. This guy is wearing fun patterned socks under his boots and nobody ever sees them because he's mastered a slight of hand trick to take off his socks along with his boots so that they're left inside. It is super against military dress code but he's been breaking that for years and nobody's called him out on it yet.

part 2 of warriors headcanons because i realized i did forget some so more word vomit from me i guess. dont worry this one wont be nearly as long as the last one.
warriors is about 16 when the war of eras begins and about 19 when it ends, somewhere between 22-26 when meeting the chain(depends on the au tbh)
warriors is the main medic of the group, while he was very skilled with a sword and in magic weapons and does like the thrill of fighting to a degree, his main focus was learning field medicine, he wanted to help people in other ways then just fighting, tho he was never skilled at healing magic that way he is with combat magic, something he does get mad at himself for sometimes
warriors era is the one directly before wilds, the first calamity just hasnt happened yet but it is in warriors future, maybe shortly after or a few years after the chain parts ways, sheikah tech has been in the works since before the war of eras even started they just didnt start building guardians and divine beast until part way through/after the war, warriors does have a slate that he uses but he left it back in his era as he felt he didnt need it(he regrets this as his fire rod is in it along with his self care items and a majority of his medical and sewing/mending/knitting supplies,he vows that he will bring it along next time they make it to his era)
i also think that all three timelines did eventually merge back into one about a few centuries or so before the war of era, which is why even though they surprised to see people from the past they still know who they are/or connected too, and might be why cia/lana was a guardian of time in the first place, to make sure the merging went smoothly
he has burn scars on most of his left arm and side, while not as bad as wilds scarring, it does still bother him from time to time and makes it harder for him to tell if hes been injured in those areas
on a funny note he doesn't just get flustered around men only if they're attractive but also if they're genuinely just nice to him, because of this he did get flustered because of twilight and sky before realizing who they were and how they were connected to him, something he is deeply embarrassed about later and that the rest of the chain do tease him about occasionally(though they do worry a bit that he got that flusted just because someone was nice to him)
during the war besides being close to mask/time and tune/wind i think he was actually close friends with both midna and marin, being the only other ones close to his age, they had regular vent/shit talk sessions in down time, usually making ravio/whatever poor soldier babysit mask and tune
i do subscribe to the headcanon that he might be a decendent of twilights line and maybe wilds ancestor, but while he can absolutely tell time, twilight and wild are all related he doesnt really realize he himself is also related to all three, in fact most if not all of the group dont put it together that he is and i dont know weather i want them to or not, it has potential to have either a lot of angst or a lot of humor
#lu#linked universe#lu warriors#linked universe warriors#more nonsense from me#ezzie rambles#i lied this got just as long as part one oopsie#wrote all of the first part on my breaks/lunch#there might be a part three idk#if there is it would be more focused on the trauma the war and cia caused#but i am too tired to write on that tonight#tomorrow will either be that or rambling about one of my aus#if work doesnt kill me first

warriors is times mother
i technically only have 1 of these aus but two potential parents and i cant choose, on one hand i can fugde my own timeline a bit and make it micah, the fellow soldier. on the other hand i can make it cia and cause a whole slew of angst. either one i do the outcome is the same, and thats lana(sorry lana fans shes the only one that fits what i need)takes the baby time and puts him were hes supposed to be and then erases the memories of the ones that knew of the babys existence ie. warriors, artemis and impa and whatever healer/midwife there was. this includes the heartbeaking scenario that warriors has gotten these memories back multiple times and that lana has erased them just as many before she puts a block that wont allow them to return until she removes it
i havent written it out yet becuase its basically the same plot but with two different options that i really like
#ezzie writes#lu#linked universe#lu warriors#linked universe warriors#linked universe time#lu time#cw: sa mention#ca: cia#sorry it took me so long to post something new#i accidentally started a new show#also couldnt decide if i wanted to post this one or the one with wild

Tierlist of the Twilight Princess costumes from Hyrule Warriors Legends.
Costumes and explanations below the cut.
While Warriors did get a costume based on Twi (which I will show later), his normal costume for the Twilight adventure map seems to be based on the rare chu jelly powerup. While I don't hate the gold on Warriors, I think it could have been done better. It's not great, but it's far from terrible.
I think Impa's design from Skyward Sword might be my favorite one, and that version herself is my second favorite (only behind the one from Ocarina of Time). So I obviously love this look for the Hyrule Warriors version of Impa. The dark blue clothes look perfect with the red and orange highlights and her pale blond hair.
I think that Lana's outfit is based on Warriors', kind of like Cia's Masterquest outfit. The multiple greens work well together and especially with the blue cloak and her hair. Solid design.
I'm 90% sure that this Sheik costume is based on the concept art for her scrapped appearance in Twilight Princess. If that's the case, then that's really cool. As for the costume itself, it's good, but nothing too special.
I'm pretty sure that this costume is what made the Zelda team make Flower's main outfit in Breath of the Wild blue, because damn does Valor look awesome. The slightly silvery metal that her armor looks to be made of compliments this cooler colored dress.
Holy sweet flowers of Hell in a handbasket. I love this coloration for Ganondorf! The black metal and cloth of his armor. The gold trim. The orange hair and red crown. Gods, I love it!
Even though the changes made to Darunia's appearance in his costume aren't as drastic as some of the others, I actually like it quite a bit. The face and body paints look really nice and blend well with his subtly paler skin. He also looks really cool with that white mane.
Ruto's Twilight map outfit appears to be based on Rutella. I find it pretty similar to her Great Sea outfit being based on Laruto, partly because it's thematically appropriate and partly because she looks really good. She's very pretty in ponk.
Agitha has apparently evolved from normal goth to pastel goth. I can respect that, and she looks really good. Not much else to say.
Midna's costume gives off vibes of shadow turning to light, which I think fits very well for her, both in terms of theme and aesthetic. The cyan markings being turned gold and the visible paler stone of the Fused Shadow just have this aura of light, but at the same time, she still retains her distinctly shadowy beauty. This is one costume begging for an artistic rendition, and I would be happy to do so.
Apparently for this costume, Midna decided to revive Zant's spirit for the sole purpose of stabbing him to death again. Okay, jokes aside, I really love the phantom Zant inspired costume. The colors and slight translucency are already some of my favorite traits for design just in general. Also his scimitars also being affected by this change is the cherry on top and looks cool as hell.
Fi's Light Spirit outfit is easily one of the most beautiful out of the Twilight Princess themed outfits. It might also be the case that this is what she would look like after the Master Sword is infused with the two Sols, which I think is a cool idea. Also, I remember seeing an artist joke about her looking like a lemon meringue pie with this outfit, so that gives her a few bonus points.
Another outfit inspired from another game, Ghirahim takes on the appearance he had in his Fire Sanctuary boss fight. I think the black on his arms look pretty cool and I appreciate the reference. There probably could have been another reference made with this one, maybe one to Twilight Princess, but I like this one for what it is.
With this costume, Lana and Cia can dress as each other for Halloween. And she looks really good. I'm a bit disappointed that her hair wasn't changed to blue, but the cool colors of her clothes make up for the lost potential.
Volga's costume is suitably goth for Twilight Princess, and it looks awesome on him. Like with Ganondorf's, the gold lining of the armor adds a lot to this outfit. It's simple, but it's very well executed
I think this is probably my favorite of Wizzro's costumes, maybe even better than his normal one. It's obviously inspired by the Twilight Princess poes, which are already cool looking, so not only does the costume thematically fit, but it slaps harder than he does. I think his eye being blue is my favorite detail, but the pale robes looking slightly singed around the edges is a close second.
Bonus: Also reviewing the other character-based costumes because the tierlist doesn't have options for them
I've probably made it no secret that the Twilight Princess incarnation of Link is easily my favorite. So I was obviously going to like the costume based on him. While Warriors does lack the kindness in his eyes that Twi has, I still love this costume and regularly use it while pretending to play as Twi. S tier.
I think the postman uniform is a joke costume. I did chuckle a bit when I first saw it, but it's nothing to write home about (pun not intended). C tier.
I was fully prepared to hate the Cassiopeia inspired outfit for Valor on principle alone. But I actually think it's pretty nice. I like the dress, hair and crown, and Valor looks much warmer and kinder than Cassiopeia ever could. A tier.
I never got too attached to Ilia as a character when I played Twilight Princess, so I don't have any strong feelings about the outfit for Valor based on her. I do, however, think the idea of the town horse girl beating up monsters to be funny, so that's worth something. B tier.
Finally, the Era of Twilight armor for Ganondorf. This was already one of my favorite designs for the character, so I'm obviously going to like it here. S tier.

Tune is a menace
Fanfic prompt : considering that Tune is probably the only character who actually knew what Cia wanted to do in Hyrule Warriors because he overheard it when time and Warriors were talking about the war and how Tune was the most bad shit insane soldier of the entire army
Because children are always underestimated but because of that they usually know most of what is going on because the adults hide the information poorly
And Wind would probably absolutely hate Cia before he even met her
He would have had years to hate her and prepare to beat her up just waiting till he can join the war
Then when he does eventually gets dragged into the conflict
He just rushes Cia on sight with the promise to not let her close to his older brother no matter what happens
He also definitely breathed down Lana's neck the entire time she as much as decided to get close to Wars
Because he already knows the entire plot of the story and he will manipulate it to his advantage by all means possible
The entire army probably would just fear him because he also forced the fierce deity to cooperate with Mask (nobody knows what he did exactly but the deity just avoids him at all costs at any given opportunity it is free the command melody is just that powerful)
He also shadows Wars as much at possible to avoid leaving him defenseless because his brother seemed haunted by Cia despite having managed to escape her hands
And considering that Tune is an older and much more powerful wind (who already was capable of wielding the skull hammer with little problem and hold an entire struggling pig over his head with absolutely no problem and then yeet it into the sun)
If someone wants to complain about not handing Wars over he can always go and punch the meeting table in two right in front of them (and probably make the whole floor collapse if he really tries hard enough)
The entire army thinks he has anger issues but he really just wants to destroy furniture for intimidation
Because both versions are gremlins and Tune will do anything to protect Wars
And breaking stuff is fun
The fight With Cia is a literal one sided smack down from Tune and whenever she appears on the battlefield he is ready to throw her out a window and jump after her out said window just to keep her away
Also the wind waker always him to do whatever he wants to do
Suffocating people
Creative use of hurricanes
Mind control
Being an evil person and repeatedly change day and night to drive people insane
Change the directions of the wind to have a harder time getting found because the wind is in a favorable direction
He was not aware that the entire army and even Wars and Mask were nervous around him in case he breaks another floor through or rips out a door to protect them or tortures a monster with the command melody (they knew he wouldn’t hurt them but the amount of money that would have to be spent on repairing and replacing the things he broke is way to expensive)
He just thought that he was a bit mischievous
Not that he was considered a lose canon of mass destruction
Even when linked universe happens nobody will ever forget how tune broke the entire second floor and made it collapse in itself
Nobody wants to mess with a smaller version of tune

Don't worry I understand that you needed a break so don't worry I gotcha!
Disclaimer this can be different from the original as I haven't met him or there wasn't much information about him to find!
Slowly I see my red threads from my stories XD. Sry, I got distracted here is the Hero of Souls as Reader, obviously. Thanks to @zelda-the-sacred-realm for giving crazy ideas.
Their title is Hero of Souls, which is practically the Hero of Warriors in their world.
They are a Brave Spirit. Their nickname is "Souls".
They can summon souls to their aid and fight with them. They also can raise the morals of the troops. They see impure hearts of traitors and are a walking lie-detector.
They have girlfriends, which surprisingly are Cia and Lana. Yes, they managed that somehow.
They get flustered very easily but are also a very duty-bound person.
You can say the cheesiest pick up line and they EXPLODE red. As Cia kissed them the first time they got knocked out cold out of embarrassment.
They can't flirt to save their life! But their are the best and most considerate partner someone can wish for.
They are a serious person but have the friendliest smile.
They love to read and love strategy books the most.
Their favourite is lemon cheesecake.
They died at the age of 24. They saved a knight only to be stabbed in the back by him, literally.
But not only Cia and Lana got revenge but them too.
As a Spirit they fulfilled their last order, eliminate every traitor of the knights. And they did, every single one of them was killed by their sword, Cia's rod or Lana's book.
They respected Child!Time and Wind with utmost respect as they were children and fought in war with them. Meeting Time again was a surprise for them, especially the adult version of him. But they still show him the same amount of respect then before.
They are so polite you would think, they are from the royal family!
Warriors would be so confused. They may look like him and went through the same shit as him, but they act SO differently!! They even got together with Lana AND Cia, just what the hell!? But Cia shows her genuine love for them, same with Lana and that's what matters. No woman goes near them, good choice.
The Chain doesn't care.
Legend will say on multiple occasions and every time when Warriors is near, that he likes Reader more and they are the better Wars.
But they are very modest and keep insisting that even they have flaws. The Chain doesn't want to hear it.
Their flaw is that they are a trouble magnet. They went on a barren field with nothing and turned it into a warzone against monsters.
They are able to tell the two Cias apart. (Their's and Warriors' Cia)
They tell the Chain about Corruption and what it does to a spirit.
They also got the task to give the fallen soldiers peace.
Their Song is "Zelda Rap" from None like Joshua ft. FabvL, GoblinsFromMars, Starby.
How they met.
Legend's PoV:
We walked around Warriors' Hyrule. We travelled around the once battlefield and saw monsters coming our way. We prepared ourselves for a fight but we heard someone behind us.
„Soldiers, Rise and Fight with me!“ We looked back and saw an army of soldiers but they glowed bluish. We saw a person dressed like Warriors with the same shitty scarf. They raised their sword and pointed towards the monsters and it's blades glowed blue like the soldiers. „Attack and let's defend our home and it's people!“
The soldiers ran past and through us! Their captain stepped towards us and smiled friendly at us before looking straight to their men.
„Don't let the monsters break through! Our families and friends count on us to protect them!!“ They shined more brightly before stepping towards us and nodded their head.
„Please go and hide, now it's our turn to defend our home. You just step back and let us knights handle it.“ they sounded calm before marching into the battlefield and participating in the fight. They seem very experienced in battling and swordfight. They barked orders at their men and fought themself against monsters. We wanted to help but Time shook his head and looked at the knights who fought in our stead. After the battle the men stood in front of their captain in a row and I now understood why Time didn't want us to participate, none of the soldiers had seeable eyes only their captain who walked up and down and talked to their army with their hands behind their back.
„Today we may not have killed Ganondorf, but we fought back his armies which try to take over Hyrule! We did a good job today, my men. We should be proud being able to protect our loved ones from any harm. I'm glad being your captain!“ They stopped and looked at their army with their hand on their forehead for a salute and the men followed. We heard the army talk for the first time, except for their warcries.
„Thank you, Captain!“ They looked all so stiff and their Captain talked again.
„You are dismissed!“ they gave their hand down to end the salute and the army followed suit.
„Yes, Captain!“ and with that they disappeared into thin air and the captain turned around and smiled in a polite manner.
„Please be careful. I didn't die, so that others throw their lifes away.“ we jumped away a bit as they said that they died.
„How did you die?“ asked Warriors and they looked solemn to us.
„Got stabbed in the back, literally. Traitors are some pieces of work. And sorry that I startled you, it's probably the first time encountering a spirit with the ability to fight.“ They bowed down and Time began to talk.
„Why did you stop us from fighting? We are very capable if defending ourselves.“
„Good sir, I don't question your ability to defend yourselves, but the fact is that you are mortals and can die. I, a spirit, can not. I had to step down as a captain and knight after my death, but that doesn't mean that I don't try to defend my home. My era is over but I already met the new hero and I'm sure he is capable of protecting our home like I did.“ our all attention was directed towards them.
„What's the name of the hero and your's. Maybe I know you.“ asked Warriors and the questioned person slightly bowed down with their left hand onto their chest.
„You may call me "Souls" that's what the new hero called me and the new Hero hasn't a title yet as he still is traveling to save it, so he mostly is called "Link".“
„Great a hero without a title!“ I blurted out.
„But we could help him on his journey.“ said the Old Man.
„Link, is in good hand and doesn't need any extra help. He has the Legendary Spirits by his side and he knows that he always can summon me if he needs extra help.“
„Legendary Spirits?“
„Yes, of course. The Legendary Spirit of Worlds, of Time, of Wind, of Twilight, of Wild and the Legendary Spirit of Sky. My predecessors are good people even if Time isn't showing it.“
„Wait wait wait wait! Your predecessors!? Who the hell are you!?“ I called out to him and they giggled as they bowed down again the same as before.
„Sorry, I should've introduced me properly. I'm Reader and I'm the Hero of Souls and the Brave Spirit of Souls. I died a long time ago.“
„What happened to the asshole which killed you?“ said Wind and they widen their eyes as they heard his voice even widened even more upon seeing him.
„The Hero of Wind! Long time no see! How is Tetra and your crew?“ they kneeled down and Wind dashed towards them even if he didn't know who this person was.
„They are doing great! And we had so many adventures!“
„That's great to hear, maybe you can tell me someday what happened but right now my time is up.“ They dissolved before us into air but they still ruffled Wind's hair.
„I'm proud of the hero you've become, Hero of Wind.“ with that they were gone.
We all looked at each other, confused. How do they know Wind and why did they dissolve!? We didn't know, they were a spirit on bought time.
And that's how they met. They learned bit by bit, that Reader is from another world and practically Warriors. But they weren't fine with the fact that Reader has not one but two girlfriends! Yandere Chain wasn't happy at all. But they felt satisfied by hearing that Cia put their killer to hell and back and still does to this date. But Yandere Warriors will have the time of his life. Reader gets flustered very easily and even Cia is abusing this fact. So he gets them red all the time when Reader is visible. Wild asks about their favourite and it's recipe. Just to make it when they are participating their dinner. Legend loves to see them read somewhere in peace. It has a calming effect on him to see Reader leaning or sitting somewhere and read about strategies. He even kisses their cheek sometimes so they lose focus and turn bright red. After that he sits beside them and reads with them. He even tells stories about his Hyrule and time. Wind is very clingy about them. They teach him things that he needs to know as an adult and are useful in fights. But they always tell him how proud they are and act like a older sibling seeing his younger brother following their footsteps. Four tries to look at their sword and maintain it but it fells through his hand, but they gladly tell him all about it. But he becames overprotective after hearing about that they can corrupted, because that means Dink can take them away from the group, from Him! Yandere Time kinda basks in their trust and attention he gets from them. Souls respected Time as a child already but as an adult they see him as a superior and follow orders when given. Twilight is near them to protect and save them when Dink tries something. But he uses his accent to get them to blush fairly often. Well, they blush every time when he calls them "Darlin'" that's the whole time. Sky and Hyrule on the other hand love that Reader like to spend time with them. Reader is a calm person and likes to read in peace when free, which isn't often but Sky and Hyrule give them the feeling that they can just put their captain's cap down and be themself. But they listen more to problems then to tell their own and as someone who is in a relationship, they get asked about all sorts of things. Wind asks about how he should get Tetra to like him back, while the others ask about how they get the person they love to notice them. But they are impressed by Reader's resolution for protecting their home, even if they get corrupted in the process and how well they are able to ride a horse even as a ghost.
THE MENACE IS OUT
@trippygalaxy come over 'ere
Also I can really see wars feeling really protective over souls!reader like really, seeing as its also reflects on him how they died. that could have been him. which is going to shake him to his very core.
also the fact that they're a spirit? going to really mess with the yan chain because reader could really leave them at any time. really everything about this reader clashes with a yan chain. they HAVE partners, they aren't bound to the chain, they are already DEAD. it's going to be hell keeping them at their side.
I wonder if the chain could find a way to tie their spirit into a vessel, or someway to prevent the corruption? it might be something that they have to look into so that they don't loose themselves (and if it gives them a way to keep their lover closer then who'll say no?)
Cia and lana are the biggest obstacles for certain though. there's got to be some way to get rid of them right? right??
the way that they expect to know wind and well mask/time too it's heartbreaking seeing as they're from a different timeline and simply can't remember ;-; (I know they can in this drabble but it'd hurt even more if they couldn't)
#the chain asking too about how to get their crush to notice them HELPPPPPPPPPP#it's so unrequited it hurts#moss✦answers#yandere linked universe x reader#linked universe x reader#yandere linked universe#link x reader#yandere link#linked universe#sacred realm#sacred realm x reader#menace anon

Chapter 5: Explaining a Mark
Warrior shakes his head. "Nonsense. Cia has been wanting me to claim her since we first met. Let her be lost to her own mind. I just want you."
There’s a knock at the door.
Enno hid themselves into Warriors more before realizing they should be the one to get the door.
“I’ll get up.” They said, not really wanting to face anyone right now but he is the injured party.
Warrior growls before they leave his grasp entirely, falling back into a whine. "Enno, it's fine."
They open the door and it’s Lana.
"I came as soon as I heard-" She gasps, borderline screaming. "Oh my - in! In, in, in, in!!"
She charges forward, pushing Enno through. "I knew Cia used a transmutation spell. But I couldn't figure out what."
She spins and yells out the door to some poor sap on the other side. "Call Zelda, it's urgent!"
Warrior huffs from the bed but he seems more relieved than before.
“Um…” Enno stood aside, wanting to stay out of sight of the people outside. “We called you for him instead of me but I’m happy about getting both over with.” They point at Warriors and his wing, wanting nothing more than to just go back and curl underneath him. “Do you mind if I just… go back to hiding until Zelda comes around?”
They shift awkwardly, completely ignoring to ask about their own health.
Lana pauses and looks at Warrior before folding over. She looks like she's going to vomit.
"Yeah..." She coughs. "I'll get right on it. For both of you."
She starts rummaging through her spell book, a knock at the door coming only a few minutes later.
Lana goes to open in and the Queen storms in. "I came as soon as I heard what seems to be the prob- gasp"
Her eyes widened at the two of them, instantly filling with tears. "Oh no..."
Enno poked their head out from their hiding spot. They smile a bit tensely, not wanting to deal with the tense atmosphere. “Yeah so I played a dangerous game and won a dangerous prize. It seems like she not only reverted me back to how I was in my world but also made me into a dragon. Not to make things uh… more complicated but uh… how do I say this… in my normal body I have a medical condition? So while there isn’t a rush because I feel fine for some reason. I still don’t want this to be the full norm if I can’t at least go back to being human.”
“You say this now?” Lana pauses what she was doing, a little stressed as it is.
“I haven’t worried about it this whole adventure!” Enno clarified. “The Hylian body I got didn’t have it.”
Zelda curses but she pats down her dress and pulls back her hair. "I'm sure we can revert you back to your Hylian form... the dragon I'm afraid..."
"I can't find a way to undo it completely." Lana whines. "All I can do is give you a Hylian form to revert to but the dragon part will have to say."
She shuts her book. "I'll have to keep looking if we're going for something more permanent."
Warrior frowns and nuzzles Enno tenderly. "Just whatever it takes to undo as much damage as possible "
"Oh. Link..." Zelda gasps. "Your wing...."
He coughs. "Worth it."
“Not worth it Sir,” Enno flicked at his jaw lightly. “But basically no matter what I have to figure out what exactly is wrong with me again?”
They sighed wiggling out of the big bad dragon that they’ve been hiding under. “It’s a start. Undoing it completely might not even be a thing.”
Their back still hurts a bit as they sit up, crossing their legs applesauce style.
“Hit me with it when you're ready.” Enno said, sighing and opening their arms, fully welcoming that it will hurt again.
Warrior nuzzles into their hip and rests next to them.
Zelda looks at Lana. They both share a look and turn to them, summoning their magic to their hands. They both hesitate for a moment before they fire.
While Cia's spell was hot, burning and tearing, this one is cold, freezing and it's as if all their joints have been glued together suddenly.
Still painful but arguably more bizarre.
Enno bit their tongue, trying their best to not scream. It happened anyway as things fell back into place. Their heart was pounding in their ears. They felt the blood rushing all over their head as if they had taken a hammer to their skull. They felt the vibration which comforted them to a degree but the pain was still there. When it was over, they collapsed. They took in shallow breaths but everything hurt. The best part was that they felt squishy again and there weren't any wings nor a tail on their back.
“Liiinkk” They slurred his name with a whine as they rolled to their side, blindly reaching for him. They’re freezing cold.
Warrior shakes himself off and suddenly becomes a furnace right next to them. He is incredibly warm as he cradles them into his side. "I'm here. I've got you."
Lana huffs put a breath. "I'll try to find a more permanent solution to the dragon side of it... But now, Link... we need to heal your wing."
Warrior grumbles but exposes the wound.
Lana looks through her book again with more practiced ease now that she knows what she's actually looking for. Zelda doesn't hesitate to chip in, the golden light from her hand cleaning up the blood and any impurities that might have formed in and around the wound.
When Lana finds the spell, her hand also begins to glow a faint blue and the wing starts to be reversed to its original condition.
"The Dragon Thing can wait. You guys have other things to focus on first. We still are going through this adventure." Enno slowly inched back into the hiding spot they were in. Everything was back to being super painful and super sore. They surprise themselves that they can still purr. "So what’s next?"
"What do you mean?" Lana asked while working on the wing.
"Cia. I doubt she is going to stop after today."
"We can keep her here." Lana sighed. "It's how we've been doing things so far."
"She would have kept the Hero of Time and the Hero of Wind's here since they came to this universe. Despite their significance back home, she wanted them to stay." Zelda crosses her arms, letting Lana take over the healing.
Warrior sighs in relief and tucks Enno in close. "We know how to deal with her. Between my claim on you and most of the heroes being together in one place might have set her over the edge. She's outnumbered anyway by people of equal strength."
"We'll do things as we always have." Lana frowns, a regretful smile on her face. "I'm sorry you got caught up on it."
"Eh. Don't worry about it too much. Not the first time I just got thrown into a weird situation." Enno isn’t taking this too seriously for their own sake. Humor helps the worry. "I'm probably gonna be careful and behave more though, just to not be too much of a bother."
They make note of the claim comment in the back of their head for now. They don't want to ask while Lana and Zelda are there. Just because this sounds like something they should ask in private.
"You could never be a bother." Warrior murmurs.
Lana sighs. "Still. We don't know the full effects of this. It's better to try and fix it before you go home."
Warrior huddles over Enno a little tighter.
Zelda hums, a soft smile on her face. "Well the major damage has been reversed. Link, I don't recommend any grandiose flying anytime soon. But it'll heal, even if it scars."
"Great, another one." Warrior huffs. "I'll look battle worn before I'm 200 if I keep this up."
Zelda laughs a bit. "All the more reason to keep you around. We could use someone like you to scare the younger ones into behaving."
"Har har." He huffs. But deep down it’s evident that he's just playing along.
"If it's all settled-" Zelda bows. "I'll take my leave."
"I'll come back to check up on the both of you." Lana nods to herself, marking something down in her book. "Just take it easy for a moment. Call again, if you need anything."
Warrior sighs. "Thank you Lana."
"Anythi-... Anytime Link."
Both girls leave the room.
"Byeeee, stay safe, love u both." Enno waves to Lana and Zelda. Waiting for a moment when the door closes, they crawl out from under Warriors and sit up straight, still sore. They hissed a bit, moving slower, but then went to sit on the top of the bed.
"Soooo what is this about a claim?" They move the cushions a little bit so it would be more comfortable sitting up.
Warrior shifts down this half form and sits crossed legged.
"Oh! Right, that was a thing I wanted to explain." He also hisses a bit when he has to shift his wings but otherwise he's just stiff. "Basically... I uhh.. wanted to be subtle. But a claim is a means of showing attention to those you consider your own. I wanted... I... got jealous.. and panicked when I saw you. I didn't want anyone else, dragon or not, to make a move before I could."
He blushes profusely but to his credit he stays in front of them, keeping eye contact. "I want to romance you.. I've wanted to for a while. But to make it clear to everyone else what my intentions were, I gave you the headband. Granted.. I probably could have done a smell claim, but humans don't smell as much as a dragon. I wanted you to at least understand the gesture when I came clean."
Warrior scratches behind his neck and bites his lip. "Cia knew. Because of course she does. She's been vying after my mother's headband for years. So she lost her mind when I chose you instead." He clears his throat. "Not that I think she would have kept her mind anyway. But it certainly didn't help matters."
Enno lets out a sigh as the tension starts to finally relax. They take in the information. "Is there any way she can swoop in and undermine the claim? Like she isn't a dragon but the anxious part of me wants to be prepared for like the worst case scenario here."
Warrior shakes his head. "I want you to be a part of my treasure. My heart and sole purpose of protection is bestowed upon you. It's my decision. Unless you reject me, Cia can't get rid of it. She can try to claim you too but I doubt she'd do that."
He places his fist against his cheeks and looks at them dreamily. "There's no room for her here, between us. She has no say nor any power in this. That's why she's so pissed."
He smiles boyishly. "I bet with your dragon half, you can start claiming things too. We can piss her off some more by just giving you some of my stuff and she won't be able to do anything."
They squirm, not really knowing how to hide the blush and are a tad bit self conscious. "She's gonna realize what she did and freak out more. I would bet she is gonna try to undo it once it hits her."
They look up at him "I'm not worried about her getting in between us. I am worried about her forcing it. I don't know much about magic and really since the start of this it seems like you can literally do anything with it... but I would like to keep pissing her off. She's gonna have to learn about dealing with someone with 0 impulse control, I guess."
Warrior laughs, loud and unrestrained. "I knew you were a good choice."
He calms down. "She can probably try but dragon magic is deep rooted and ancient. There's very little anyone can do to stop it once in motion except for those that are involved. You're not marked yet, which is a permanent claim. Between people, it's akin to marriage I suppose. Life long partners in crime."
Warrior blushes a bit, becoming a bit shy and flustered. "She can't undo a simple claim. A mark… she would probably be able to look into undoing but it's too deep to dig out, if that makes sense. I wouldn't worry too much about it being tampered with."
"A... Mark..." Enno nodded, confused. "So like, is that like a bite on the neck like werewolves? Or like…” They can’t think of other examples. “And when will that happen during this relationship?"
"Um!" Warrior flushes a deeper color. "For dragons there's a small courting process but things move really quickly. I don't want to pressure you, especially since you don't know all the bell and whistles of dragon culture."
"A mark is typically a small exchange of each dragon's magic... if both parties are dragons anyway... Like tattoos on your DNA instead of the typical rings humans use. There's also visual symbolism, like the rings, that constitutes the same purpose. Those are typically used when one party isn't a dragon. Smells as well... but it's mostly used for claims since it doesn't really work for all races."
"Sounds se-" Enno stops themselves from making an inappropriate joke but they still snicker thinking about it. "You know I don't mind it. I'm pretty good with anything at this point. As long as there isn't that much pain to it."
Something dawns on them. "The others are going to flip."
Warrior sits up as straight as a rod. "You.. um! Ok... Flip how?"
He starts off easy. "Admittedly a lot of things happened today, I just want to be on the same page here."
"They leave for town and come back to me being a dragon?" They point out. "That's something to be weirded out about."
"Ah." Warrior nods. "Yeah, that'll do it."
They felt better to get back on their feet so they slid off the bed and stretched before regretting it instantly. "Ahhhhh nope still sore. Anyway, how do I claim things?"
He snorts to himself and grins a bit. "Well... claiming is personal preference. If you build your hoard big enough you can use visual claims. If you want to use smells you need to find the spot where your dragon scent glands are at. That's different from dragon to dragon but you'll probably figure it out on your own soon enough. It happens naturally, just pay attention to some of your mannerisms. And then there's a magical claim, where it's put more on the object or person, like a temporary spell. Admittedly, I'm not good for it so Zelda would probably know more about that one than I would. But that one also varies from dragon to dragon as well since each has different branches of magic."
He scratches the top of his head and leans back, getting comfortable. "That's the basics anyway. It'll come to you in time or when you don't even realize it.... Sometimes it happens when you don't really mean to. It can give away your intentions before you realize they're there."
He smiles at them gently. "Do some soul searching and maybe poke around a bit. It'll come to you."
“mhm… So let’s say…” Enno walked over to where he was sitting, happy to get some steps in because it was starting to get cramped with simple sitting around. they carefully get onto his lap, hands on his shoulders.
Warrior watches them carefully as they move. He tenses when they approach and he flushes when they directly place themselves in his lap.
“I want to claim you. Would you be able to tell?” They ask, dragging their hands behind him so they could just lazily wrap their arms around his neck. “Like- How can I know that you have one on me?”
Warrior’s blush makes his scales seem brighter and he has trouble meeting their eyes. His hands land on their hips though and he's smiling. "Um...Yes... I would be able to tell. Be it smell or magic, it's quite obvious when a dragon marks another."
But then he smirks slightly. "You can tell I’ve claimed you because you’re wearing my scarf and my shirt and you were wearing my headband that I gave to you."
One hand comes up to twirl their hair around his fingers before dipping to guide their chin, bringing them closer. "You're absolutely drowning in my scent now. No one is going to second guess who you're with."
He leans in, giving them a quick peck on the lips before he pulls back, reverting to the distance they had before. "The only thing missing is some magical residue but that can wait. There's no need to go overboard."
Enno blushed at his words and looked down at themselves out of curiosity because they didn’t notice before. They bring the scarf up to see if they could smell something.
They pull back almost instantly as the scent instantly reminds them of a cozy night in front of a fire. Wood ash, the scent of an old book and something more floral. For some reason it made them really happy but also filled their stomach with butterflies. There was something underneath it all that smelt like the ocean and a grassy field. It reminded them of Wind and Time.
They pull back and turn to face Warrior. The words sitting on the tip of their tongue.
Loud bangs interrupted the moment. “WARRIORS, ENNO OPEN UP!”
It was Twilight. Enno yelps and jumps back, basically falling off of Warrior’s lap.
Warrior grabs onto them before they can fall and places them securely back where they were.
"It's open!" He calls back, a concerned furrow in his brow. His grip on Enno tightens instinctually but it's not enough to be painful or damaging. He's being very mindful of his claws.
Twilight throws open the door and ushers Wind inside.
Instantly, they can see that the boy has been crying. He doesn't hesitate to run to the both of them and throw himself into their arms.
Warrior adjusts accordingly, and lets Enno hold him while he moves to stand protective over them both.
Warrior looks at Twilight. "What happened?"
“Time has gone full Deity. Pinky was taken. There was a noble dragon stalking her since the ball. Wild saw him last night hanging around her room. We think it was him.” Twilight explained quickly gasping for air, putting down Time’s bags too. “He said Pinky was taken to the north. I think he is going to kill the guy.”
“Wait, back up. Pinky was being stalked and no one told her? Or like anyone else?” Enno was instinctually comforting Wind. Twilight turned to face them but went wide eyed. Enno sighed. “It’s a long story… where the hell is the guy?”
“I don’t know. I think Time just wanted to warn Warriors, since it is a nobleman. I can follow the scent but I-“ Twilight struggles for a moment. “I can’t fly. But I can still track in my Hylian form.”
Warrior stands fully and drops from the bed. His landing is a bit awkward. They can see it in the way he over compensates, nearly sending himself to eat the floor.
He grunts and pushes himself up. "No need. Do you have a description of him?"
"Warrior, what happened here?" Twilight asks, horrified.
Warrior growls. "I'm fine."
"That is not what I asked." Twi places his hands on Warrior's shoulder. "You're in no condition to fly either, so we're both-"
"We need to tell Zelda." Warrior interrupts. Which is unfortunate, given all the work she has to do anyway. "There are laws for this.... that is if Time doesn't kill him first."
Wind sniffles and frowns, looking up at Enno before turning to the boys. "Twilight can’t fly and Warrior shouldn’t..." His lip quivers. "We're not gonna get Pinky back.... Time is going to go crazy..."
Wind shoves his face into the crook of Enno’s neck. They can smell ocean salt radiating off of him from his jaw as he looks toward them for comfort.
They start rubbing circles around on Wind’s back not realizing they were claiming him as family.
“It’s ok Wind. She will be ok.” They whispered, picking him up. “The Deity is also a protector god. He won't let Pinky die.”
They look at Warriors. “You’re not going out there. But yes, we need to tell Zelda or Lan- IMPA! Isn’t this more in her area? We have to let Zelda know, yeah. But Impa is her right hand man.”
Twilight was still uncomfortable with the lack of answers he was getting about the events that happened here. “You two would know more than me, but I don’t think we can prevent Time from killing the guy.”
Warrior looks at Enno adoringly, his heart clenching at the sight of them with Wind in their arms.
"I'll send word for Impa then..." He turns back to Twilight. "Do you know what he happened to look like? Does anyone know what he looks like?"
Wind sniffles and shakes his head. "You didn't see him, Enno. I've never seen Time so powerful... I've never been so scared of him before."
“Red unkempt hair, brown eyes. He looked around your age. Lean, I think he was a knight because his posture was so tight. He was wearing a dark red suit yesterday and spent most of it on the sideline by the buffet table.” Twilight repeats back. “That’s all I know.”
“I know Wind, I know.” Enno tucks Wind’s head underneath their chin as they gently rock him “I got you now. Don’t be scared.”
They give the sailor a few kisses on the head, before turning to the other heroes. “You should get her now. The more time we spend talking the more likely the deed is done.”
Warrior's eyes sharpen. "I think I know who that is."
