Before you even realize what you’re doing, you’re on your feet and moving towards them. Sliding yourself between Logan and the newcomer, you offer them a friendly smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes.

“Hey,” you say, cutting in smoothly. “Logan and I were just about to head out. Maybe you can catch him later?”

i’m gonna be pissed about the magicians until i die.

like. quentin and eliot were So Nearly my perfect queer love story. it had seasons of slowburn even though they fucked in the first season. it had conflict and fights and devotion and love and adoration and friendship and making up and RAISING A CHILD TOGETHER and growing old together and watching each other die but still coming back from it and it had royalty and fantasy and science fiction and they FUCKED like they FUCKED and it wasn’t sanitized OR sexualized and their story wasn’t about them being queer but it didn’t forget that eliot was queer (it always forgot that quentin was which is another issue i have). it was EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE WANTED. the potential to be a gay mulder and scully type of slow burn angst and pining with a happy ending.

and then they just. killed quentin bc they forgot that he was queer and only saw him as a cishet white boy who deserved to die even though he was suicidal and bisexual. like. they just killed him off to prove a point and it wasn’t even a point that should’ve or could’ve been proven with him because he doesn’t fit the cishet male main character archetype and they already established IN SEASON ONE that he wasn’t the hero of the story and never would be. they didn’t need to make him kill himself to prove it. they didn’t need to make eliot’s story a tragic gay alcoholic trope when he’d had so much character development before that. they didn’t need to regress alice’s character to revolve around quentin again in the last season when she’d moved beyond that ages ago. they didn’t need to do literally anything that they did in the finale and season 5.

i think about the magicians and i grow fucking insane bc even queliot aside it’s just. so so so so close to being Excellent and it just. completely fucking missed the mark.
