Hey there! I know you don’t get much time to look at asks, so really don’t worry about this, but I just wanted to share this with you. I know you like Only Fools And Horses, and I’ve been thinking about Trigger all day, today. I developed this headcanon that Trigger used to get migraines as a kid/teenager, and Del and Denzil were the only ones who didn’t make fun of him when he shut down, or cried over the pain. Del would even look after him, sometimes, staying with him in the nurse’s office, or letting him nap at his flat when Trig couldn’t make it home. This is one of the reasons Trigger is quite close with Del.

Seriously though, everyone should watch OFAH. I mean it. Hilarious, very rewatchable show that can make you laugh and cry. David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are national treasures. I got to see the musical in the summer of 2019, wearing a bright yellow shirt with the Trotters Independent Traders logo on it, and - to my utter delight - because I was sitting in the second row, the guy playing Del Boy (Tom Bennett - who also popped up in Red Dwarf a couple of years ago) spotted me. There was a bit during the opening number where Del addresses the audience, trying to sell us hooky gear. I can't remember the exact wording, but there was a bit where he was trying to flog some "leaning Eiffel Tower" miniatures. Rodney pointed out to him that the Eiffel Tower isn't leaning, to which he just smiled knowingly and said something along the lines of, "We know that-" pointing between himself and me "-but what can't speak can't lie." I really can't remember the actual wording, just the sentiment, but it was just great! I got to be in on a Del Boy scheme! 😂 But enough about me...

This headcanon is very sweet. Del has a heart of gold and has spent most of his life trying to look after people, so this totally fits with his character in my opinion. Denzil is also a friendly guy, and I can definitely see them being kind to Trigger when this happened, telling Boycie to shut his trap (gotta love Boycie, the git). I can actually already half see this scenario in my head. Have you seen Rock & Chips? If not, that was a mini prequel series for OFAH set in the '60s, about Del and Rodney's mum Joan. It's got Nicholas Lyndhurst in it as Freddie The Frog, while a young Del Boy is played by James Buckley. It features Del and all his mates in their teenage years. Unfortunately, John Sullivan died just before the third one aired. The story felt unfinished to me. We will never know what Joan Trotter truly said on her death bed!

After dinner I went for a long walk. I need to start exercising again but running is going to be difficult what with my wheeze being back and the fact that I can't be bothered to run so it's going to have to be walking. I didn't have a set destination in mind as I decided to take a page from The Situationist's book and just let my mood decide where I was going to go. I went over the Spire Bridge and up towards the hospital before walking into town. The point of the walk is not to focus on fitness or worry about your pace but rather take the time to enjoy the views, experience the sounds and take in the unexpected surprises. There weren't that many unexpected surprises to be had outside of some dumb cunt on a motocross bike without a helmet who raced past me , stopped at the end of the road then turned around and raced back. I wouldn't be surprised if this fuckwit turned out to be the guy who tried to steal my bike a few months back. I still haven't gotten round to mailing off the details the government needs in order for that fuckwit to pay me my compensation. I really should be thanking the dumb cunt because the £250 I'm going to get from him is going to pay for the bike's next two service checks. In some ways I feel sorry for this guy but in other ways I wouldn't feel even the slightest bit sorry for him if he fell off his bike and ended up a vegetable and his mother had to provide round the clock care for him, changing his nappies and feeding him mushy peas for the remainder of his life. When I got in I watched a few videos on YouTube. There's this one guy who's whole channels is all about him walking around cemeteries and visiting celebrity graves. This is an interesting (if slightly morbid) idea for a YouTube channel but kind of flawed too. The guy lives in the UK so how many famous celebrity graves can there be? If he gets millions of subscribers but then gets to the point where there are no more famous graves to see then he's going to have to start killing celebrities in order to maintain his income by visiting their final resting places. One of the graves he goes to see is that of Roger Lloyd Peck AKA Trigger from Only Fools and Horses. I'm sure that his grave must get thousands of visits every year from dedicated OFAH fans. If I'd have known he was in a celebrity cemetery then I would have gone with Dexter to visit it when we were in London to see Guns N Roses / KISS. I was trying to think of appropriate little trinkets it would be nice to leave at his grave. Probably the best thing to leave there would be a broom in reference to his famous broom with 14 new heads and 16 new handles. I wonder if, while visiting the grave anyone has ever gone to lean on it but misplaced their hands and tumbled over it.
