THE SCHOOL NURSE FILES // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb: 6,4 Benim Puanım: 5
Web Drama: The School Nurse Files (English title) / Nurse Teacher An Eun-Young (literal title)
Hangul: 보건교사 안은영
Director: Lee Kyoung-Mi
Writer: Jung Se-Rang (novel & screenplay)
Date: 2020
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Jung Yu-Mi, Nam Joo-Hyuk

Explanation: The School Nurse Files 보건교사 안은영
Mong-Iyeon High School, The school was built on an ancient burial ground. There is a hole where the air flows and there used to be a pond too, this place contains so many energies. The energies feed off on children's laughter. The man who built this school was Mr. Hong who is the Grandfather of the Chinese teacher Hong In-Pyo. Anyways, in this drama, we don't see the grandfather because he is dead and he wanted his grandson to take over. Mr.Hong wanted to channel those energies and the people of the village were worried about Mr.Hong.Despite all this, he built the school and safe happiness changing the world. He wanted to control the breathing hole and change the luck and this will have the power to rule the nation. That was the plan designed by Safe Happiness, an organization. To those who are strong, the place will appear normal. However, it draws in the who lack energy. That's why people keep jumping in. Overall this is the reason for all the crazy things happening in the school. Now the concept of Jellies is simple, If I am not wrong the jellies are basically created by the energy of the student's desire. Ahn Eun Young is a new nurse teacher at school. She has a special ability to see jelly-like monsters that are made from the residue of human desire and she can also eliminate these jellies. Hong In Pyo is a Chinese language teacher at the same school. He has a special energy. In order to protect the students, An Eun Young and Hong In Pyo work together to eradicate these jellies. Safe Happiness is an organization that steales energy. We also Illgwang sterilization, another organization that wants the same thing. Mong-Iyeon High School doesn't belong to safe Happiness, Illgwang sterilization claims that the school belongs to them. Together An Eun Young and Hong In Pyo save the student.

NO ROMANCE? NO PROBLEM! THESE K-DRAMA DUOS PLACE TEAMWORK OVER ROMANCE.
Platonic teamwork works great!
Romance is nice and all, but sometimes we don’t want to be bombarded with relationships and lovey-dovey antics. Also, romance doesn’t need to be prominent in order to keep us hooked. There’s a growing trend of platonic duos showcasing friendship and teamwork over focusing on the romantics. Many of these duos feature polar opposites who complement each other very well as they strive for success with their goals. Here are some of our favorite dynamic duos that proves there’s more to K-dramas than romantic walks in the rain.
The School Nurse Files
The School Nurse Files showcases a sweet partnership between school nurse Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu-mi) and teacher Hong In-pyo (Nam Joo-hyuk). Eun-young is able to see the hidden world of jellies and fight them. In-pyo is a perfect partner for her because he has a protective aura that energizes her jelly-fighting powers. While romance is definitely a possibility for them, their relationship is grounded in their friendship and they come to regard each other as kindred spirits. It’s especially heartwarming to see them come together in fighting the jelly world because of their outcast backgrounds.
Stranger
Both seasons of Stranger unite Prosecutor Hwang Si-mok (Cho Seung-woo) and Police Inspector Han Yeo-jin (Bae Doo-na) in solving tough cases together. Si-mok had brain surgery as a child which affected his ability to feel emotions. On the other hand, Yeo-jin is empathetic and enjoys doodling. Even though prosecutors and police officers don’t always cooperate effectively, Si-mok and Yeo-jin are a great duo because they place importance on justice over politics. While working together, they become able to understand each other as friends and succeed in some major sleuthing.
Extracurricular
In Extracurricular, Oh Ji-soo (Kim Dong-hee) is a quiet high school student running an illicit enterprise. Bae Gyu-ri (Park Ju-hyun) is a popular classmate who surprisingly wants in on his business despite coming from a wealthy family. While Gyu-ri causes Ji-soo some hiccups initially, she has some ideas that help expand the business. Despite coming from different backgrounds, Ji-soo and Gyu-ri realize they share similarities and come to rely on each other. In fact, they begin to trust each other more than they trust their own parents. Together, they try to overcome extremely dangerous and difficult situations.
My Mister
My Mister shows Lee Ji-an (IU) and Park Dong-hoon (Lee Sun-kyun) facing incredibly difficult situations. Ji-an struggles with poverty, loan sharks, and taking care of her elderly grandmother. Dong-hoon is dealing with being mistreated and his wife cheating on him with the company CEO. While Ji-an gets paid to spy on Dong-hoon in order to get him fired, she ends up realizing that he is a really good person. In their brokenness, Ji-an and Dong-hoon help each other heal and re-direct their paths. While forming their unusual friendship, they confront the bad guys in their lives.
Voice
Kang Kwon-ju (Lee Ha-na) is a policewoman gifted with extraordinary hearing and Moo Jin-hyuk (Jang Hyuk) is a determined detective in Voice S1. They both lose loved ones to a serial killer — Kwon-ju loses her father and Jin-hyuk loses his wife. Taking advantage of their separate strengths, the pair form a strong partnership. Kwon-joo works from the emergency call center as she listens to the tiniest details while Jin-hyuk works at the scene as they help people in emergencies. They continue their effective teamwork with their efforts to bring the serial killer to justice.
#ALIVE
#ALIVE shows another great complementary cooperation between Kim Yu-bin (Park Shin-hye) and Oh Jun-u (Yoo Ah-in). The apartment complex neighbors have different interests which end up helping their efforts to survive. Yu-bin’s camping and climbing gear assists them as does Jun-u’s handy drone. Despite not knowing each other prior to the zombie outbreak, they don’t hesitate to help one another and they’re able to rely on each other in their scary new world. It’s great seeing very different people unite to assist each other in their survival.
Kingdom
Kingdom’s Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon) and Seo-bi (Bae Doo-na) also fight zombies, but in Korea’s Joseon era. Under normal circumstances, an heir to the throne would not spend much time with a physician’s assistant, much less work together to save the kingdom. However, they overlook their differences in status and respect one another due to their shared interest in helping people over saving their own lives. They lead a two-pronged approach with Lee Chang leading the physical battles against zombies, and Seo-bi figuring out the origins and effects of the mysterious plant.
So many great pairs to love! Which duos are your favorites?

Of Disentangling the Jellies.
(Reflection-series review[?] of The School Nurse Files)
I’ve been having a short-attention span for the past few months that I couldn’t watch anything more than 30 minutes in one sitting. I couldn’t binge-watch any drama since Stranger (aside from the crazy good plot and act that left me having high expectations in kdramas), so I tried to bring back my focus by watching a kdrama with slightly fewer episodes to chew on -- hence I chose The School Nurse Files played by Jung Yu-mi and Nam Joo-hyuk.
This is my second encounter of a piece directed by Lee Kyoung-mi (the first one is Love Set from the netflix omnibus Persona) and I recognised a similar ambience -- the faint yet beautiful colours, close-up shots, and the focus on human’s complex emotions. If Love Set zooms on the blood, sweat and tears from competing over possessions (at least that’s how I interpreted it), the School Nurse Files zooms on repressive emotions and its consequences, and on accepting the colourful mayhem in one’s self.
Nurse Ahn Eun-young is gifted (or rather, she initially thought, cursed) with the ability to see and destroy the jellies which are formed by humans’ repressed feelings -- worry, fear, longing, misery, mischief, regret, despair. She doesn’t like the fact that she is capable of seeing things that anybody else could not, yet she does what she has to do anyway. She found a camaraderie in Hong In-pyo, a calm and slightly dorky teacher who is wrapped in a protective aura that keeps him from being attacked by the jellies.
The soundtrack, the cinematography, the faint colours decorated by the vibrance of the jellies, the manic expressions and the absurdity of it all, yet it is only sensible that all of these are happening with the growing nonsense in the world around us. Commodifying desires, bottled-up emotions, taking something slightly different from what society consider to be normal as a laughing stock.
The six episodes left me jumbled to make sense of everything. The seemingly-jumping plot and the things left unexplained puzzled me as well-- especially because I was still having trouble to focus in watching them so I might have missed the details. However, in the midst of my personal attention-span problem, this eerie episodes still left a warm impression on me. I am probably too eager to find meaning and to find anything that resonates with me to keep me from feeling very lonely, but these files reminded me to release the pent-up emotion before it takes its toll on me, to accept my weird self with all of its unavoidable things, and to see my dark and gloomy day as a form of an adventure.
Disentangling jellies sure is difficult, but I suppose I should start from accepting things, and to arm myself with a plastic neon sword filled with colourful beads to whip out the dark. All the time, I felt like crying just as how Eun-young did when looking up to that building, thinking that she couldn’t handle everything by herself -- although I don’t even have half the hardships that Eun-young had. Eun-young can survive battling the jellies from herself and the people surrounding her. I must also be able to cope with my gloom and the blandness of life by stroking my days with the warmth I picked up from watching this bizarrely pretty drama.
(Here’s my background music while writing this, the melancholic song from one of my favorite moments in this series)

Review: School Nurse Files (2020)
If you enjoy watching someone running around doing magic without really being sure about what is going on, this is your show.
Synopsis
Ahn Eun-Young is the school nurse at a high school built on land with a gruesome history. Fortunately, Eun-Young is able to see “jellies” which are left by human emotion, some of which are leftover from the origins of the location. Using her arsenal of jelly-fighting weapons, she and teacher Hong In-Pyo attempt to save the students and the school from certain destruction.
MZ Overall: 7/10, would watch again; I’d recommend it if you want something ~weird~ and fun
This show is short (6 episodes) but straight to the point. While it can be slightly hard to follow at points, it’s still really fun. The way the jellies are animated is so pleasing to me that I would honestly watch it again just for that.
MZ Review
I knew I was going to watch this as soon as I heard the premise. It was everything I expected--no more, no less. The animations, the acting, and the story were great, the only thing I felt could have been better would have been having a longer story! The episodes are mainly anthological, which was what was confusing at times. if they had had more episodes, I think this could have been avoided in a way. It was a fun time all around!
AC Overall: ~idk~/10, would watch again high
Super short, super weird drama that would probably be amazing high. Not necessarily off weed (unless it’s sativa-heavy i guess? idk i don’t smoke), but maybe mushrooms? or LSD? Psychedelics. What I’m trying to say is that I understood nothing, but the colors were pretty when sober--so it’d be an experiencetm on a psychedelic. Or if you’re into gooey, neon-colored orbs bouncing around when sober.
AC Review
Not gonna lie, MZ dragged me into this one. If I had (accidentally) clicked on it on my own, I probably would have stopped watching after the first ep. But, I was vaguely interested in where the drama was going and MZ was really into it so I said, “Why not?”. I honestly don’t remember much...
It might be worth noting that I previously hadn’t necessarily liked Nam Joo-Hyuk as an actor--he seemed too young and naive for me--but in this drama he did well playing an older soul. I almost couldn’t believe this was the same dude from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo, Cheese in the Trap, Bride of Habaek, etc. His performance convinced me to not avoid dramas with him in it now, and I’m so glad that he got out of that role, even if only for 6 episodes.
It’s worth mentioning that Mr. Mackenzie, the English teacher played by Teo Yoo, was my favorite character. He was great on screen, and I really wanted to see a lot more of him (I will be on the lookout for more dramas with him, trust me). He was so convincing, and (don’t tell MZ this--though she probably definitely knows--) I stayed for him tbh. His character is interesting and mysterious and kinda cute.
Overall, give it a go when high. Or if you have an inner child.

Oh! Oh-oh-oh! Nam Joo Hyuk will star in a paranormal drama for Netflix next!
Based on an award-winning novel of the same name by Jung Se Rang, School Nurse Ahn Eun Young is a fantasy drama about a bright and fearless school nurse who has the unique ability to drive away spirits, but performs exorcisms in a unconventional, comedic manner. When she takes on a new job at a high school, she uncovers a grave mystery.
If confirmed, Nam Joo Hyuk will be starring as Hong In Pyo, a traditional Korean teacher who is extremely protective and walks with a pronounced limp due to a car accident he was in as a child. He is an influential figure who begins working at the school his grandfather set up. Nam Joo Hyuk has reportedly finished filming for JTBC’s currently airing drama Radiant, and will begin shooting School Nurse Ahn Eun Young soon.
Source
That sounds so good! Also, I love that NJH so often stars with older actresses. Both in Radiant (The Light In Your Eyes) and here, the actresses are 11 years older. I love that. Also, since this drama will have only 6 episodes, maybe it will avoid filler scenes/eps and it’s going to feel more like one long movie?

GET READY FOR THE SCHOOL NURSE FILES WITH THESE HIGH SCHOOL K-DRAMAS SCENES YOU KNOW AND LOVE
The School Nurse Files might become your new favorite high school drama!
The highly buzzed about series The School Nurse Files is finally here! The School Nurse Files centers on high school nurse Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu-mi) who works with Classical Chinese teacher Hong In-pyo (Nam Joo-hyuk) to protect students. High school dramas have a special appeal that attracts a variety of different people.
From coming-of-age stories to youthful romance, there’s something relatable for everyone. Signature scenes and locations add to the familiar charm. We love the memories from high school as we adults would like to escape to simpler times. Check out some quintessential high school k-drama scenes and locations here:
The Classroom
High school dramas involve students so, of course, they need to spend some time in the classroom. But did you notice that there is a specific part of the classroom K-drama students tend to sit in? They tend to sit near the back and often close by the window just like Oh Ji-soo (Kim Dong-hee) in Extracurricular and Hyun Tae-woon (Kim Jung-hyun) in School 2017.
New Student Introduction
In Korea, new students introduce themselves in front of the classroom on their first day. It’s especially nerve wracking for Jo Kang-ja (Kim Hee-seon) because she’s pretending to be a high school student in order to find the bully who tormented her daughter in Angry Mom. Having a new student definitely shakes things up and makes it interesting. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) is a lonely transfer student in Moment of Eighteen.
School Infirmary
Is it just me or do K-drama characters get hurt and sick more often than us? Whatever the case, there’s plenty of scenes at the school infirmary. The School Nurse Files centers on school nurse Ahn Eun-young (Jung Yu-mi), so there’s plenty of fun scenes where she works. Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) and Lee Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram) also have a secret infirmary encounter in Love Alarm S1.
Locker Scenes
You use lockers to store books and belongings, but they’re also a popular place to chat and gaze longingly at the object of your affection. Ha-ru (Rowoon) gives a swoon-worthy look here in Extraordinary You while Cho Sang-hoon (Kim Do-wan) shows angsty vibes in front of his locker in Moment of Eighteen.
Water Fountain
School water fountains are frequently found in high school dramas. You can drink water, wash your hands, clean stuff, and peek at cute students there. Hyun Tae-woon (Kim Jung-hyun) and Ra Eun-ho (Kim Se-jeong) have a sweet water fountain encounter in School 2017. Ha-ru (Rowoon) and Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) also look cute beside a water fountain in Extraordinary You.
School Rooftop
K-dramas certainly love their share of rooftop scenes. While rooftop access might become more restricted these days, there are plenty of locations where students try to have a space of their own. Student X is overlooking the view from the rooftop in School 2017. Park Sun-ho (Nam Da-reum) and Oh Joon-seok (Seo Dong-hyun) have a dangerous argument on the rooftop in Beautiful World.
Library
A part of being a student naturally requires spending some time studying. What better place to study than the library? The library is an important place where Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) discovers the truth about her identity in Extraordinary You. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) focuses on studying in the library as well in Moment of Eighteen.
Extracurricular Activities
Well-rounded students take on extracurricular activities outside of studying. You can’t help but swoon when you see good-looking characters excel at a variety of skills. Lee Do-hwa (Jung Gun-joo) looks super handsome while playing the violin in Extraordinary You. Han Yi-han (Nam Joo-hyuk) is a star swimmer in Who Are You: School 2015.
Physical Education
Physical Education, also known as P.E., is a mandatory part of school so it’s no surprise that it appears in high school dramas as well. To amp up the drama, special sports events are often used in scenes. We see this on the field of Moment of Eighteen. Baek Kyung (Lee Jae-wook) and Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) participate in a three-legged race in Extraordinary You. It’s a nice change from their everyday school uniforms.
Dressing Casual
Speaking of not wearing school uniforms, there are always scenes where we can see students dressed casually outside of school. Sometimes it leads to romantic scenes in an almond farm like in Inheritors or down-to-earth fun with friends in Reply 1988.
Dressing Up
Other times, we can see characters dressed up for fancier occasions. This usually results in someone being stunned by the beautiful transformation and they end up seeing the other person in a different way. In Extracurricular, Oh Ji-soo (Kim Dong-hee) is blown away by Bae Gyu-ri (Park Ju-hyun) who is dolled up. Oh Nam-joo (Kim Young-dae) puts on a spiffy bowtie in Extraordinary You.
Cafeteria
You have to eat to fuel your brain and body for the school day, so there are plenty of cafeteria and lunch scenes in high school dramas. It’s always fun viewing appetizing meals that sometimes look better than our own lunches. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-wu) eats a typical high school lunch in Moment of Eighteen. On the other hand, Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) and Ha-ru (Rowoon) enjoy a fancier lunch at their school in Extraordinary You.
Convenience Store
Students typically don’t have a ton of cash, so they’ll opt for cheap and tasty eats at convenience stores when eating outside of school. Yoo Soo-bin (Kim Hyang-gi) sits inside a one in Moment of Eighteen. You can also see high school students working at convenience stores like Han Dong-soo (Seo Young-joo) in Beautiful World.
Bicycles
High school students in Korea usually aren’t old enough to drive cars, so they’ll ride bikes or motorcycles instead. Kim Jo-jo (Kim So-hyun) and Lee Hye-yeong (Jung Ga-ram) have a sweet bicycle ride in the snow in Love Alarm S1. Choi Joon-woo (Ong Seong-qu) uses his bike for transportation in Moment of Eighteen.
Buses and Bus Stops
Not all students own and ride bikes, so buses are another common form of transportation for high school students. Being in close proximity with your crush can easily lead to heart-fluttering moments. Kim So-hyun shares a gentle moment with Nam Joo-hyuk on a bus in Who Are You: School 2015. She also stands with Song Kang at a bus stop while it’s raining in Love Alarm S1.
Which of the quintessential high school K-drama scenes do you like most? You can watch all of the mentioned shows on Netflix.
List of mentioned shows: Angry Mom, Beautiful World, Extracurricular, Extraordinary You, Love Alarm S1, Moment of Eighteen, Reply 1988, School 2017, The School Nurse Files, Who Are You: School 2015

Upcoming Netflix series “The School Nurse Files” has shared new stills of Jung Yu Mi and Nam Joo Hyuk! The project is a fantasy drama — based on an award-winning novel of the same name — about Ahn Eun Young (played by Jung Yu Mi), a nurse who pursues and exorcises ghosts in creative and funny ways. She teams up with Hong In Pyo (Nam Joo Hyuk), a teacher who has an incredible aura of energy that protects him, to exorcise evil spirits and solve mysteries. First off, Hong In Pyo is the grandson of the school’s founder and a teacher who specializes in classic Chinese characters. He may seem indifferent and shy, but he’s actually a curious man with a good-natured personality. When he learns about his extraordinary energy, he teams up with Ahn Eun Young to catch various ghosts. As her “ghost buster” partner, he protects her and recharges her with his special ability. Nam Joo Hyuk explained why he chose to star in this project. He commented, “It’s such a refreshing topic, and I became curious about the jellies (ghosts).” Then he talked about his character saying, “He’s like a ‘healer’ who always re-energizes Ahn Eun Young. He may look aloof on the outside, but he’s actually full of curiosity.” On the other hand, Ahn Eun Young was born with the special ability to see jellies, a residue of invisible desires made by living animals and plants. They’re usually not dangerous, but when they’re contaminated, they become harmful to humans. Ahn Eun Young is not happy with her fate, but she does her best to repel these supernatural creatures with her rainbow sword and BB gun. “The School Nurse Files” will premiere on September 25 via Netflix. Check out the teaser and posters here! In the meantime, watch Nam Joo Hyuk in “Radiant“: Watch Now You can also watch Jung Yu Mi in “Train to Busan“: Watch Now Sources (1) (2) Facebook Twitter Pinterest Tumblr by Korea Stars TV
