Behold! One of my largest projects to date! I'm hoping to have these as textured prints soon.
My love for nudibranchs knows no bounds 🌊 Also the top text has been changed to "Sea Slugs" as I was informed that a few of these are not a part of that order at all, but still fall under the "Sea Slug" umbrella!

Oops i have a suit now.. what should her name be?
She's made by AL_fursuit on instagram, she will likely arrive before my con trip at the end of the month! (TTFC, if you see me there don't be afraid to say hi!)
I doodled up a concept for her body markings as well! (Fullbody is a base i heavily edited, the rest drawn by me)

Hiii!
I'm like a week new to Tumblr- I can't figure out how to sort through content well, so you've probably posted about this before
What do you know about sea slugs?? Like particularly interesting ones! I love them and wanna hear your description!!

Here are some of my past nudibranch posts: x x x
One of my favorite nudibranchs is the Sap-sucking sea slug (Cyerce elegans)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The large leaf-looking parts are known as cerata and help the nudibranch "breathe". They can also be released to use as a distraction if the animal feels threatened!
The species has many color variations, from nearly transparent to red or brown! The color is dependent on the environment in which the species is found; these nudibranchs have coloration that matches the local algae that they eat. This helps them stay camouflaged while they're eating!

Today on CHUNK! FUNK! GUNK! We rate
the SEA BUNNY:
Tumblr media
10/10 Chunk
9.2/10 Funk
10/10 Gunk
For Easter, I thought it would be fitting to rate the sea bunny! These little guys are REALLY little, they’re less than an inch long- Since they’re nudibranchs, which by definition have no bones or shells, these squishy little fellas get maximum chunk. Sea bunnies are super recognizable and adorable with their little “ears” and “fur” (both are actually sensory organs), high funk. Nudibranchs are slimy little guys, and sea bunnies in specific are actually super slimy and poisonous, so of course they have maximum gunk.
Overall Rating: 10/10
They’re so cute, like- they’re SO cute- LOOK AT THEMMM!!!
Sorry for disappearing for a while again! Happy Easter (for those who celebrate) and happy pastel bunny day for all those who don’t!
I personally just enjoy Easter for all of the cute pastels and bunnies everywhere haha

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
New slug just dropped-- and it's a doozy! Bathydevius caudactylus, aka the mystery mollusk, was originally discovered in 2002, but it was only earlier this month that scientists at MBARI were able to identify it as a species of sea slug. Part of the confusion came from the mystery mollusks' unique anatomy; unlike other slugs, which typically crawl across the ground, B. caudactylus actually swims! What's more, it catches its prey using a hood, much like a venus fly trap.
Check out the video below to learn more about this amazing discovery!

Hey yall!! Introducing one of my favorite pieces of the last few years, Sea Oddity: a repeating pattern of hand drawn and watercolor rendered jellyfish, horseshoe crabs, nudibranchs, and sea monkeys. (repeating watermark added just to be safe <3)
I uploaded it to Spoonflower last year as part of the assignment I made it for, and now it's publicly available to purchase on there as well as on my brand new Society6 shop! If you want a little sea critter print or some fabric to make a sea critter sewing project, this might be the perfect one!

Hi! Love your blog! :]
I was wondering if you had fun facts about sea slugs or nudibranches or any good resources to learn more about them? They're my favorite marine animal
Thank you so much!!!
Here are two of my previous nudibranch posts: x x
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are over 3,000 known species of nudibranchs, and they can be found in both salt and fresh water! There are two main categories of nudibranchs, divided by their breathing apparatus (the feather/tentacle looking things). The doric nudibranchs (first gif) has gills are centered around their anus. The aeolid nudibranch (second gif) has a set of cerata along their backs.
Tumblr media
Nudibranchs are mostly carnivores (the exceptions are omnivores that also eat certain algaes). They commonly eat anemones, coral, sponges, and sometimes even other nudibranchs! They also sometimes get their bright colors from their prey, allowing them to further blend in with their habitat and send a giant "dont-eat-me-im-toxic" sign to any predators.
Tumblr media
And to learn more about nudibranchs and other cool marine animals, I recommend looking into online natural history museum archives (here are some I found for nudibranchs: x x x), scientific papers, or other reputable websites.
