Story
“Time is both the kindest and the cruelest thing… It heals the wounds in my heart, but steals away my love for you.” Choosing one person always means hurting someone else… A realistic love story about a boy who’s growing up. Narumi Takayuki is a young man in his last year at Hakuryo Hiiragi academy. There’s not much time left before he graduates, but he still has no idea what he’s going to do with the rest of his life. He spends his days not doing much of anything in particular, and feeling a vague sense that he’s running out of time. One day, his classmate and female friend Hayase Mitsuki invites him and his buddy, Taira Shinji, to a summer festival. There, she introduces him to a friend of hers, Suzumiya Haruka. Haruka is an extremely shy, introverted girl, and since Mitsuki’s trying hard to make her feel like part of the gang, Takayuki does his best to make her feel comfortable as well. But for some reason, instead of thanking him, she goes out of her way to avoid him. He leaves the festival frustrated and annoyed. Days later, though, Haruka calls him out to the hill behind the school and tells him that she’s in love with him. Knowing how much courage it must have taken a shy girl like her to ask him out, he says finds himself unable to say no. The two begin dating, even though he’s not really interested in her. Just like he predicted, his conversations with her are strained and awkward. But as time passes, the two of them grow closer, and Takayuki finds himself falling in love with her sweet, innocent nature. And then one day…

Hello, I'm the one from twitter yesterday....Do you mind if I ask for BL manga/manhwa/manhua recs? I already seen the Bl recs you gave to anon some time ago, is it better to give my favorite BL manga like that? (Sorry if I get this wrong.... )
My favorite themes are : childhood friends to lovers, enemies/rivals to lovers, taking care of child/children, happy ending....
Sorry again if the themes are too much, if you want to pick either one, I'm really happy....
Welcome back! Actually, people being specific about what they're looking for (theme, platform, tropes, dynamics etc.) makes it easier for me to narrow titles down. I have my own favorites so obviously those are what comes to mind immediately, but when people come to me asking for something specific, I go back to digging old stuff back! Some series provide a good read, but not to a point where I remember them, let's say, 6 months down the road :,) It's also a by-product of reading a lot. N e gays, let's dive!
Tumblr media
Enemies/rivals to lovers is a trope I love as well, and I actually have made a short list of titles I like with that trope. Putting that one here in case you have missed it.
Childhood friends is not a big favorite (if it's a childhood friends + a love triangle I avoid it like plague 😣) but there are series that I loved available on Futekiya:
Love and Howling (Masa Masaru) - This one also contains some supernatural elements, overall, it was an interesting read.
Perfect Propose (Tsurukame Mayo) - Has dubious consent BUT older bottoms are chef's kiss imo and it's sooo pretty. If you love domestic life, this will be up your alley.
I'll Make You Cry (Nozomu Hiiragi) - I'll never shut up about this one!!! Sooo cute and extremely funny! I personally love delinquents with an attitude 💞
Revival Blue (itz) - I have my own reasons for avoiding childhood friends that include a love triangle and this one avoids that route BUT the rivalry part still feels a bit forced and bland. Yet! This one has age gap and a bit of angst sprinkled with a happy ending, it was sooooo good!
Life in Our Hometown with Me and You (Isino Aya) - This one is as slice-of-life as it can get. Very chill and perfect for a comfort read.
Not from Futekiya but Living With Him by Miyata Toworu is another chill, very sweet childhood friends-to-forced-to-live-together-bc-of-their-mothers-to-lovers story! Just reread it today 💞
Also, here's a very interesting manhwa on Lezhin (free to read) called Count Tachibana. Love the historical aspect and love the expressive art style with bold colors more! (The list was getting long so I cut it short but if you need more childhood friends recs hit me up again ^^)
Tumblr media
Now, BL with kids is less of a favorite. I don't avoid them completely, but don't go into them excitedly as well. Looking for Omegaverse titles would be more likely to find such titles. I'll list a couple that I found cute (despite the kids xD):
Our Dining Table (Mita Ori) - Another down-to-earth, cute and chill title. The kid in the story is actually the brother of one of the male leads (they have a big age gap) but the story is centered around their domestic life and food, super sweet.
Would You Like to be a Family? (Koyama) - I remember reading this on Futekiya, it was a single dad story I believe.
Sorry I don't have a lot of recs that have children in them, the one's I've read are titles that everyone know. For the rest, I tried to go for titles that I don't see circulate around as much, hope they'll be to your taste as well. See you around ~

New story of “Docchi mo Docchi” in April issue of GUSH magazine
Another manga in my list of recommendation. There are 6 (or 7) volumes so far, each covering a main story but all of them are so cuteeee
This time Ozaki hurts his leg trying to cover for his boss while falling off the stairs so they have cancel their onsen trip and spend their holiday at home. They are having a loving time when Ozaki’s strict dad decided to pay a visit 😂

Hi, I'm the anon that asked your twitter BL challenge...thanks so much for the link....🤩
Can I ask for BL recs if my favorite BLs (until now) are : "Complex" by Ringo Manda, "Kieta Hatsukoi" by Wataru Hinekure, "Therapy Game" by Meguru Hinohara, "Here U Are" by Djun, "Blanc" by Asumiko Nakamura and "Harukaze no Etranger" by Kanna Kil?
Sorry if it seems weird, I try to pick a certain topic but I became confused myself as what should I pick (enemies to lovers, childhood friend, etc)......Also I'm sorry if my fav are not so diverse yet....And thanks again for your BL reviews, it helps me a lot for a newcomer like me....
Welcome back ~ It warms my heart to hear that my reviews are of help ^^ I haven't read some of the series you mentioned, but from the ones I did you seem to enjoy softer BL's that are plot and/or character-driven. I'll add links to my reviews if I have written on them, and apologize beforehand that I rarely buy singular volumes of BL so most of the titles will be from Futekiya (a monthly subscription service that releases BL only, the first chapters of the series in their library are free to read). Let's go!
Tumblr media
Here and There and Us (Thanat) and Blue Sky Complex (Ichikawa Kei): Opposites-attract, high school friends who continue to date after graduation, long distance relationship for a while. I haven't read Blanc, have only seen Doukyusei but trope-wise, they sound similar! Both are exceptional works so I think they might be a good fit for you as well.
The Trees in Spring (Nakaoka Naka) and Setagaya Synchronicity (Hongo Chika): Both focus on soul/identity searching, coming to terms with the self. I've written on The Trees in Spring before but can vouch for both.
Some more favorites:
Twilight Out of Focus (Jyanome): To read // Review
All That Pierces the Heart (Sumako Kari): To read
Paint Love and the Colors Will Bloom (Shota Kon): To read
Living With Him (Toworu Miyata): To read
I'll Make You Cry (Nozomu Hiiragi): To read // Very brief review
Lullaby of the Dawn (Ichika Yuno): To read (also on Futekiya)
I linked Bookwalker pages but ShuCream and Kodansha have many other platform options so you can go to the publisher's webpage to find a website/means to buy that fits you. Futekiya titles are only in their library, although recently Seven Seas recently announced that they are going to re-release some of Suzumaru Minta's works both in print and in digital since Futekiya is digital-only. If you have any other questions, you can message me any time and let me know what you thought of them if you get to read any of them! Have a nice day.
