What is up with popular shonen anime having poorly-adressed toxic family relationships?

I should not I'm not caught up on all these properties, but from what I've seen:

Itachi psychologically, emotionally, and physically abuses his brother, and this was revealed to be because Itachi hated himself for ending their clan and hoped that Sasuke would grow strong enough to kill him (which he didn't, so either way it's dissatisfying). The angle of Itachi being a good big brother is something I've heard from some fans, who focus more on Itachi sparing Sasuke during the Uchiha massacre, as if that negates the fact that he tortured Sasuke into becoming an embodiment of hate and revenge for as long as he was alive.

Todoroki's mom poured boiling water on him. I don't recall the series exactly, but I think Endeavor was stressing her out and she did this in a fit of rage, and Todoroki says that his father is solely responsible for her actions and forgave her. I...don't like that at all.

Noelle's family abuses her for her lack of control over her magic and the fact that her birth killed their mom; it's later revealed that Nozel actually KNEW her birth didn't cause their mom's death, but emotionally and verbally abused her to break her spirit and keep her out of harms way. Vanessa and Langris also have poorly-handled abusive relationships with their families, and I covered the trio in another post.

Seto's relationship with Mokuba is really weird, often treating him as an afterthought until he's in trouble, despite the fact that Mokuba never does anything but sing Seto's praises. Makes Mokuba feel more like a possession than an actual person.

The Black Bulls in a formal environment and someone talking shit about em.

And rather than starting a fight, Finral and Noelle verbally destroy said person. All without ever compromising their position.

See while she's mellowed down, Noelle is still royalty. She knows how to do the "Do you know who I am?" speech on the fly.

And despite being replaced, Finral was raised to be the heir of the House of Vaude.

They're both excellent in a fight, but this oh they could do this all day.

Both of them are used to defending their honour in the passive aggressive manner that all nobles are apparently born with.

A manner both have sharpened since it became clear that they were on their own to fight their battles.

Usually there'd be some restraint, but they are defending their friends, and so they don't hold back at all.

Zora and Gauche are giving the others a play by play, "yeah that's the fancy way of saying, your mum's a hoe."

Yuno's listening in, taking notes.

The rest of the magic knights are both scandalised and impressed. Especially Nozel and the Vermillion's.

Nacht is getting another drink, watching the whole thing both amused and proud.

I'm glad these relationships got patched up, but I think it happened too quickly

(Note: currently watching the series and approaching the end of the ERA)

The Witch Forest Arc is super short to me in terms of the actual goal: Vanessa returning home and Asta's arms being restored. Vanessa only gets brief flashbacks to her life, including her mom being nice in the last one to explain that she isn't all bad. Granted, I liked the conclusion she came to that Vanessa couldn't realize her full potential while being trapped and stifled, but it was only because Vanessa showed her true potential that her mom realized her mistake. We don't really focus on them since the invasion takes up more of the spotlight. It would've been fun to see Vanessa show more memories, maybe stay with the witches for a short time before Asta's healed, as well as the witch queen criticizing the Black Bulls for making Vanessa sloppy(er). They don't really get much conversation between each other.

Nozel wanted to keep Noelle safe by demolishing her self-confidence to make her stay away from battle, and it comes off as a very flimsy excuse, since until the point when he reveals this, he isn't particularly kind to her. It would've been better if Nozel just ignored her or pressured her into staying inside the castle--OR Nozel continually tries to compliment Noelle, but Solid and Nebra's bullying makes her believe he's just being passive-aggressive and teasing her. Solid and Nebra also bully Noelle, and they don't even have Nozel's flimsy excuse of trying to protect her; they just hate her for her birth resulting in their mom's death and embarrassed by the fact that Noelle can't control her powers. They only change their mind when Noelle keeps them from almost dying--which I appreciate, but they kinda flipped a switch (like with Vanessa's mom) rather than gradually change; it'd be nice if Noelle thought they only changed their minds because she was powerful and thus worthy of their respect and love, and they had to prove they cared about her.

Langris and Finral's "healing" feels problematic to me; Finral was almost killed by Langris, who apparently was being controlled, and Finral got through to him by APOLOGIZING TO HIM. He said he left Langris alone when trying to run from his insecurities. That isn't true at all, as we specifically see a flashback where Finral asks Langris to come with him to a festival, but Langris says no. I don't like the idea that Finral didn't try hard enough with Langris; it feels like blaming the victim.
