This except like
I do things that seem like attention seeking behavior to avoid attention, actually.
I wear slutty clothes so people will stare at my legs or my tits or my body harness or garter belt ribbons hanging down and not pay attention to me.
Too busy being horny for my clothes to see me.
I say provocative things so people ask about them and are distracted from trying to bother me in the here and now.
Too busy being outraged.
I give people compliments so they do all the talking and go on and on about something that makes them feel cool or happy so they don't bother me.
Too busy with their own ego.
I behave in ways that embody what other people want me to be so they get what they want and leave me alone.
I had to be groomed by 3 years of attention= shitloads of money
To care about wanting attention.
I don't like attention but I really like not being in poverty.
I really like having shitloads of money.
You can solve almost any problem with shitloads of money.
I wish I wanted attention because it's really easy to get attention from like 90% of people. It must be really cool to be addicted to attention.
People have been telling me I do things for attention my whole life.
Actually I do things because I'm a weird little goblin child and don't know how to act.
Also because I hate when other people try to force me or influence me to do things and it makes me wanna die?
So my goal is honestly to make enough money that I can be as bizarre as I want and no one will care and if people aren't nice to me I can tell them I hope they trip and fall and impale their eyeball on a pencil and it hits them in the brain and they die and then leave the room and never talk to them again.
Attention makes me big uncomfortable because when I'm not bribing people to be nice to me with whatever it is they want they mostly are incredibly unpleasant and anytime a new person is like... smiling at me or asking me a lot of questions about myself they are usually deciding if I should be allowed to eat or how severely I should be punished or if I will be allowed to go home or if they want to give me drugs or if they're about to make a brand new rule against something that didn't exist before just so they can ruin my month. Good things happen when you put the focus on making the people around you happy and granting their wishes. Bad things happen when other people notice you exist any time you are not actively doing that.

A dance with death (and her wife) (Part 5)
Agatha takes you back to her house after the realization that you may have been responsible for the recent murders
Word count: 5200
Warnings: murder, purposeful thumb dislocation, violence
A/N: this got so long so fast so I had to split this chapter into 2 parts so as of right now I'm planning for 3 more parts
You canât stop your teeth from chattering as you slide into the passenger seat of Agathaâs car. She followed you back to the motel so you could leave yours there, her headlights shining onto you the entire time, reminding you that she was right behind you.
Her lingering presence is ominous, rather than comforting. You just canât put your finger on why. Â
Youâre not cold. The opposite, really. Your body is running hot, perspiration gathering on your forehead, but youâre shaking like a leaf. She turns up the heat, but you immediately reach over and turn it off.Â
âI didnât do it,â you say, but youâre not even sure if you believe it yourself.Â
Agatha snorts. âStill think youâre being framed by The Witch and Lady Death?â She asks, and your heart spikes. Rio and her have been talking. Perhaps this whole time. Does she also know her wife drugged you?Â
âMaybe,â you try to argue, but you know itâs just false hope at this point. How would they have gotten his blood under your nails?Â
But how could you have killed him? You were completely unconscious the whole time.Â
The knife from your motel found at the crime scene. Rio washing your clothes and being secretive about what was on them. And now this.Â
You know you used to sleep-walk, but is sleep-murder a possibility?Â
âWhy did you want me to see it first?â You question, now latching onto something else. Agatha is a detective, she shouldâve called the rest of the squad as well as you.Â
Does she know more than sheâs letting on?Â
Iâm just curious about something is what Rio said as she watched you succumb to sleep.Â
What is going on?Â
Agathaâs knuckles tighten on the steering wheel and youâre momentarily distracted by remembering what they felt like inside you. Her fingers, Rioâs mouth, together? âJust wanted to see how youâd react,â she finally says, and it snaps you out of your fantasy about them.Â
âRio drugged me earlier,â you tell her, watching her face closely for any sign of recognition or confusion.Â
She remains neutral. âOh?âÂ
You grit your teeth. They are both so good at keeping their cards to their chests. âNeither of you think Iâm being framed. You seemed pretty certain that the body from yesterday wasnât from them, that it was someone new.â Your voice drops to a whisper. âDo you think I killed both of them?âÂ
Youâre not capable of that. Thereâs no possible way you did. But you want to hear what she thinks.Â
âI think,â she pauses to choose her words carefully. âI think that I believe you when you say you think you didnât do it.âÂ
âI couldnât have,â you say weakly, needing more than anything for it to be true.Â
She glances at you with pity. âWe all think we couldnât. People can surprise you.â The look on her face matches the darkness outside. Is she speaking from experience?Â
The drawer opens and your fingers wrap around the handle of one of the knives.Â
âI didnât do it,â you insist.Â
You park by the woods and ask the first man you see for help finding your dog who ran into the trees. Heâs wearing a flannel and pants, and has the most brilliant blue eyes.Â
Agatha reaches over to pat your leg.Â
The kitchen knife cuts his legs surprisingly well and he slumps back against the trees, blood rushing from his wounds. You get immense pleasure in watching the cerulean in his eyes fade. But itâs not enough. You want to send a message: a heart on his chest. A nod to the shape drawn on the sticky note from The Witch and Lady Death, and to their calling card.Â
A whimper tears its way out of your throat and you clamp a hand over your mouth. Agatha hears it and looks over, raising an eyebrow. âYou okay, superstar?âÂ
Your head is spinning. Are these memories real, or not real? Is your mind playing tricks on you?
The femoral arteries were too quick, too easy. You need something more. Itâs only too easy to lure this man into the woods.Â
âI donât know,â you gasp out. Youâre hyperventilating now. You were supposed to protect this town, stop the killers, but instead, you became one.Â
Plunging the knife into his throat sent a thrill like youâve never felt before tingling down your spine. You drag it down, grunting with the effort, but the blood pours out and youâre breathless. The red on the white snow is almost angelic.Â
What have you done?Â
Memories, dreams, images, whatever they are, come rushing into your brain, almost completely overwhelming you.Â
You killed them.Â
Were you really unconscious, or were you just erasing the memories to protect yourself?Â
But you were asleep, at least at first. Did you wake up and decide to go on a murder spree? How does that even happen?
âPull over,â you demand. Agatha scoffs but you say it again, more sternly. Your entire body feels awful and you know whatâs about to come.Â
Thankfully she obeys, and the second her car screeches to a halt, youâre throwing open the door and barely making it two steps away before you double-over and retch, puking your guts out. It burns your throat and your lungs ache, but it feels like youâre cleansing your body.
Agatha quickly runs over to you and holds back your hair while you continue to vomit. She rubs gentle circles on your back and then youâre finally able to stand up and breathe normally.Â
âDid you know after the first one?â You say, wiping your mouth and turning to face her.Â
She shrugs, but thereâs an affirmative glint in her eyes. âFigured you were bound to snap eventually. Didnât realize how drastic it would be until Rio told me about the bloody clothes you had her wash.âÂ
Youâd throw up again if there was anything left in your stomach. SheÂ
But sheâs not done yet.Â
âAnd then we got the call about the body with all the blood and I had a hunch. But you not knowing anything gave me a bit of pause,â she admits, swiping her thumb on your lip affectionately. âThought you were just a really good actor. But then you said youâd been sleeping for the past few hours, so I wondered.â
You cough, still tasting acid. Things still arenât adding up. She fucked you after thinking you murdered someone? âWhy didnât you turn me in?â Not complaining exactly, but why have they been holding onto this? âIs that why Rio drugged me? She wanted to see ifâŚIâd what? Murder someone else?âÂ
Agatha tilts her head back and forth, like sheâs partly agreeing, and you back up from her, the gears in your brain turning. She gives you a look as if to say Really? and starts advancing towards you. You put your hands out to stop her and flinch, and she freezes.Â
âIf youâre feeling better, get back in the car,â she orders, and the hairs on the back of your neck stand. She takes one more step and stops an inch away from you, eyebrow raised like sheâs anticipating your next move, and you gulp before obeying. âGood girl,â she says in a low voice, closing the door on you, and you hate the way your body betrays you.Â
She gets into the driverâs seat and locks the doors and it makes your heart lurch. Why do you feel so unsafe right now?Â
The key gets turned in the ignition but the car wonât start. âFuck,â Agatha swears, turning it again and again. Panic starts to climb and settle into every crack and crevice in your body; what if you have to spend the night with Agatha on the side of the road?Â
What if you fall asleep and accidentally kill her?Â
Is that something you do now? Can you just never sleep for the rest of your life?Â
The engine finally clicks and turns on, just taking a bit longer in the snow. But Agatha is almost out of gas, so she pulls into the next gas station she finds on the way to her house.Â
âHave you eaten?â She asks gruffly, something seemingly changed in the air between you.Â
The moment she brings up food, your stomach grumbles. You canât remember the last time you ate. Tony would kill you, if you had heard from him at all. Itâs weird he hasnât called you back yet. Unfortunately, you have been sleeping though. Youâre not sure if he would be proud.Â
Agatha gets out of the car and slams the door and you quickly scramble out too. âWeâll go get you something to eat after Iâm done filling up.âÂ
âI can just run in now,â you offer, desperately needing a moment to yourself. You canât breathe next to Agatha right now.Â
She scoffs and presses the pump into her car. âYouâre a mess, superstar. I canât risk you confessing to her about what youâve done, or worse.âÂ
You bite back a sarcastic comment, still weary of her mood shift, and you tap your foot until the pump stops. She follows you into the station, watching carefully as you pick up a slice of pizza from the hot food area. You snag a drink and walk to the cash register, where a woman is snapping her gum.Â
âHi,â you say politely, putting your stuff down. Agathaâs hot breath is on your neck. âOh, and can I get these too?â You quickly slap down a container of cinnamon mints.Â
She looks you up and down, and winks. âOn the house,â she says and Agatha steps even closer to you. The cashierâs eyes flicker to her. âAnything for your mom?âÂ
Agatha practically growls behind you and yanks your head back by your hair so sheâs able to capture your lips in a bruising kiss. You try to pull away in shock, but she holds you there and slides her tongue into your mouth. You can still taste the little flap of skin from where you bit her when she fucked you.Â
After sheâs sufficiently stolen all the air from your lungs, she stops and grabs your pizza and drink from the counter. âCome, pet,â she says in a low voice that makes you hotly tingle all over and you make brief eye contact with the cashier, who looks severely taken aback. You wonder if you look as flushed as you feel.Â
âSorry about that,â you say sheepishly, face hot, and slap a ten dollar bill on the counter, scampering after Agatha. âWhat the fuck was that?â You call after her, and she whirls around, face contorted into something scary.
âGet. In. The. Car,â she demands, seething, anger radiating off her in waves and almost knocking you back.Â
Thereâs silence the rest of the way to her house as you eat your pizza. Itâs a cute two-story house, hedges trimmed neatly out front, and another car in the driveway.Â
Your heart begins to race at the thought of seeing Rio again, at the thought of dealing with them together.Â
What are you doing here? Are they going to blackmail you? What could they want from you?Â
You trail Agatha to the front door and then into the kitchen, where Rio is trimming a bouquet of flowers in a vase. Yellow, blue, red, and a flash of purple.Â
Brows furrowing, you try to get a closer look but Rio steps to the side, unknowingly blocking your view.Â
âHey, Aggie,â she says, her back still to you. The glimpse into domesticity and the nicknames makes you feel a longing pang inside you.Â
In the past, girls had been too put off by your line of work, by your fascination with female serial killers, even by the scar on your stomach. You just wanted someone that could accept every part of you.Â
Agatha walks over, leaving you standing awkwardly in the entrance, and presses a kiss to Rioâs cheek, murmuring something in her ear. Rioâs body stiffens and she turns around, a wide grin stretching over her face when she sees you.Â
âWelcome, doll,â she says and you fight the urge to run away. She motions to a fresh batch of cookies cooling on the stove. âWant one?âÂ
You donât budge. âDid you poison them too?âÂ
Rioâs head tosses back with a laugh and Agatha smirks bemusedly. âTouchĂŠ,â Rio says, grabs one, and chomps on it. She brushes her hands free on the crumbs once sheâs done and holds them up to show you that she didnât lace them.Â
âWhat am I doing here?â You ask, wanting to cut to the chase. Thereâs some ulterior motive, one you just donât know of yet.Â
Both of them beckon you to follow them into the living room. They sit on the couch and you sit in the chair facing them.Â
ââWhat am I doing here?ââ Agatha mocks in a deep voice and you roll your eyes.Â
Rio takes all of you in, eyes flicking up and down your body several times. âSuch a trivial question. Why donât you ask something better than that?â
You think about it for a moment. What do you really want to know? âDid I kill those men?âÂ
âBoring. Ask something you donât already know the answer to,â Rio criticizes and your cheeks burn.Â
âWhy did I?â It comes out quieter than you intended, your voice breaking.Â
The two of them finally look interested. âWhy do you think?â Rio asks, ever the therapist.Â
âIâŚdonât know,â you say lamely.
Agatha snorts. âCome on, superstar, we know youâre smarter than that. Use that brilliant brain of yours.â
Knife from the drawer. Slicing through fabric to cut the arteries. Hearing a squelching sound when you plunge it into the chin.Â
Blood.
More blood.Â
A brilliant blaze of fire erupts.Â
You jolt. Fire? âI thinkâŚâ You trail off, feeling shaken by the new revelation. Is the fire something that happened in the past, or something thatâs about to come?Â
âYeah?â Agatha whispers, leaning forward.Â
You try to search your head for the answer. âI think I wanted to know what it felt like,â you say slowly, testing the words on your tongue, still not completely sure if theyâre right.Â
Youâre remembering more of the murders, remembering being in a trance-like haze when you woke up, getting into your car, coming back to the room after, stripping naked from the bloodstained clothes and scrubbing your skin in the shower until it stung. And then laying back down.Â
Some sort of psychosis? Or just your unconscious mind fulfilling one of your darkest fantasies?Â
Rioâs breath hitches. âAnd? How did it feel?âÂ
âIt feltâŚpowerful,â you say, and you know what the feeling in the woods with Agatha was now. It was the feeling of taking in your own work, seeing what you had done, somehow remembering the feeling even when you didnât remember doing it.Â
Agatha licks her lips, her eyes dark. âHolding their life in your hands, itâs a sensation like no other. That control makes you feel like a god, doesnât it?âÂ
The way she phrases it sounds like she knows how it feels. How could she?Â
Can you brush it off to her being a detective? Surely sheâs had to make a decision like that once in her career, but thereâs a nagging in the back of your mind that is sounding alarm bells.Â
You cautiously look back and forth between them, between their faces with an indescribable hunger, and things start to come together.Â
The Witch and Lady Death.Â
Lovers, two brunettes, one thinner and taller, the other shorter and fuller. Just like Rio and Agatha.
Both Agatha and Rio were so convinced that there was a different killer.Â
Both Agatha and Rio knew that you killed someone, even before you did, yet neither of them made any effort to get you in trouble.Â
If anything, they pushed you to do it again.Â
Rio said she wasnât The Witch, but you hadnât asked if she was Lady Death.Â
Which meansâŚ
Agatha is The Witch. Rio is Lady Death. And youâre in their home, with both of them.
Itâs ingenious though, really. Being the lead detective on a case trying to catch yourself, able to throw a wrench into any leads that the squad may happen to get.Â
That must be why she was so nitpicky with all your theories. She knew all the right details the entire time.
Although, it never really seemed like she was shooting you down, it was almost like she was guiding you.Â
Did she want you to catch them?
And Rio, being your therapist to find out more about you, get inside your head and understand how the profiler on their case thinks.Â
Youâd almost be impressed if you werenât scared for your life right now.Â
The only question is: why?Â
Why murder all those people? Why break into your motel room and leave you all that stuff? Why help you in catching them, if thatâs truly what theyâve been doing?Â
Why not just kill you already? Unless thatâs what theyâre planning on doing tonight.Â
âCan I, uh, use your bathroom?â You ask, praying they canât hear how fast your heart is beating.Â
Theyâre both regarding you with careful looks. âSecond door on the left,â Agatha says, pointing down a hallway. You nervously smile and try to walk normally out of sight.Â
Just make it to the bathroom, you chant. Then you can text Tony, text the police chief, text anybody. If you can keep up the pretenses, you might be able to hang on until reinforcements come.Â
But as youâre walking by the first room on the left, you see that the door is ajar ever the slightest.Â
You shouldnât. You should go to the bathroom and get help. You absolutely should not open this door.Â
It creaks as you push it open and you stop breathing, waiting to hear footsteps or one of them asking if youâre okay.Â
Nothing.Â
The door is open just wide enough for you to slip in now, and you canât help the loud gasp that escapes your mouth.Â
Purple azaleas are in a vase on the table, along with vials upon vials. Information about every single person in Westview on one wall, red circles highlighting either victims or a list.Â
But whatâs most startling is the shrine they have for you on the big wall. Pictures of you, case files, every piece of information accessible that concerns you is plastered there.Â
They know exactly who you are. Theyâve known.Â
Fighting the nausea that climbs into your throat, you step closer. Thereâs something that draws your attention in the bottom left area, a medical record with your name on it from Salem, Massachusetts almost fifteen years ago. You donât remember ever being in the hospital when you lived there.Â
You bend down to see what it says andÂ
Snow.Â
The frozen creek.Â
Laughter and red birds when you step on a stick.Â
The person whirls around, long dark hair flipping with the momentum, blue eyes cutting through the darkness.Â
Fire. Sparks fly and land at your feet, hissing in the snow.Â
âWell, well, well,â a voice says behind you and you spin so fast you almost fall over. Agatha and Rio are standing in the doorway, arms crossed. âGuess the secretâs out.â
But you donât care about that.Â
Because the woman from your memory has a name now.Â
âIt was you,â you accuse, jabbing a finger towards Agatha. The face in the flashes was a bit younger, but youâd know her anywhere now.Â
A cold feeling sinks into you when she bares her teeth in a smile. âI see my wifeâs techniques have been efficient.âÂ
Your head starts to pound. âHowâŚ?âÂ
âWhy donât we go back into the living room and we can talk about this?â Rio suggests gently.Â
âSo you can kill me?â You spit, completely disoriented. How did you know Agatha fifteen years ago? Why didnât you remember?Â
What did she do to you?Â
Agatha scoffs. âReally, you think if we wanted to kill you, you wouldnât be dead already? Honey, we couldâve had your heart the instant you stepped into town.âÂ
Your hand grabbles at your belt, trying to grab onto the gun that isnât there.Â
Fuck.Â
You ran out of your room in such a hurry earlier that you forgot to grab it.Â
âSo what do you want from me?â You ask, trying to sound even the slightest bit braver than you feel. You fail.Â
âWe want you to join us,â Rio says, being uncharacteristically straight forward. âWe see you and what youâre capable of. Weâve known it. We want you, all of you.âÂ
You shake your head. âNo, absolutely fucking not. You two are crazy. I donât know how you know me, or what happened in the woods all those years ago, but I would rather die than kill more people with you.âÂ
They both sigh like they were afraid youâd say that. They start to walk over to you and you feel prey being stalked, being hunted.Â
âWhat are youââÂ
Agatha shushes you. âYouâre just confused, superstar. But donât worry. Weâll give you some time to think about it.âÂ
And then they grab you and drag you kicking and screaming upstairs into their bedroom.Â
This is it. This is how youâre going to die.Â
âWait, wait!â You scream as they throw you onto their bed. âIâll do it.â You can pretend, you can make them think you want it until you can get out.Â
Rio bends over and grabs your chin, scanning your teary eyes. âOh, doll, youâre an FBI profiler and youâre still such a bad liar,â she tuts, roughly pushing your face away.Â
Your body goes numb while they stretch your arms out and pull handcuffs â real handcuffs â from the nightstands and cuff you to the bedposts.Â
Agatha smirks and waves the key in front of your face and you snap at it with your teeth. She chuckles darkly and puts it on the nightstand, just out of reach.Â
âWeâll be back later, pet,â she says. âWe have to go teach someone a lesson about taking things that donât belong to them, and then The Witch and Lady Death are going to strike again.âÂ
Rio cackles and then picks up the bottom half of her skeleton mask and holds it to her face, widening her eyes at you. You strain against the handcuffs until they sting your wrist but you donât stop struggling as they walk out of the room and close the door behind them.Â
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.Â
You are absolutely reeling. You met Agatha when you were ten years old. Something happened, something with fire? And the medical file from then, is that related?Â
It canât be a coincidence that youâre here now, working on a case in which sheâs a killer.Â
What happened that made you want to think like a killer? Itâs the question that Rio asked when you first met her, that she swore she didnât but now you think she was just fucking with you.Â
You didnât know the reason, couldnât remember it at the time, but that was what made you start having these flashes of repressed memories.Â
Is Agatha the reason?Â
Did you see her kill someone at ten years old, but then your brain blocked it out because it was too traumatic? And then you spent the rest of your life determined to figure out what made her do that?Â
It seems to make sense.Â
It still doesnât answer the real question as to what they want with you, and why they went through all this trouble.Â
But youâre not going to find anything else tied up in their bed.Â
The Basic Field Training Course at Quantico taught you several important things, like how to fire a gun and how to read a personâs posture and how to solve a case. But perhaps the most valuable lesson to you now was learned from a classmate, who taught you how to dislocate your thumb.Â
Jimmy Woo had dislocated his thumb twice during lacrosse in high school so he could now do it whenever he wanted. It still hurt obviously, but the damage was less serious, it was easier to dislocate, and it was much easier to pop back in.Â
All it took for him to teach you was a six pack of beer. You didnât know exactly why you were so set on being able to, but you couldnât be happier now.Â
You remember the first time you did it. It had taken four shots of vodka to get your courage up before bending it back on a table. The ligaments had strained, not wanting to give, but through sweat and tears, you had persisted.Â
Jimmy immediately took you to the clinic to get it wrapped up and you told them you had done it while throwing a ball with Jimmy.Â
Youâd only done it a few more times, but it got to the point where you could do it with minimal crying and could relocate it by yourself.Â
Taking a deep breath to prepare yourself, you duck your chin down to grab ahold of your sweater between your teeth to have something to bite down before positioning your left thumb against the bedpost. Better to do it with your non-dominant hand, Jimmy always said.Â
You can almost hear him encouraging you as tears spill down your cheeks and your whimpers are muffled.Â
Pressing harder, a slight sheen of perspiration breaks out on your head. Fuck, youâd forgotten how much it hurts.Â
Finally, finally, thereâs the desired pop and pain floods up your hand. It almost entirely overwhelms you andÂ
Snow.Â
Frozen creek.Â
The woman turns toward you and looks surprised to see someone else in the woods with her.Â
She waves to you and youâre pulled forward by an invisible string. When you get closer to where sheâs partially hidden by shadows, you see sheâs not alone.Â
A younger woman with pale skin, dark hair, and wide hazel eyes.Â
But thereâs another woman too.Â
The throbbing in your thumb pulls you out of the flashback.Â
Rio.
Rio was there, too. Youâve met both Agatha and Rio before.
But you donât know who the other woman is; you didnât even get a good look at her.Â
Focus on that later, you tell yourself, whining as you gingerly pull your hand out of the cuff. You lean over and snatch the key off the nightstand and quickly unlock the other cuff. It hurts like hell to use your dislocated thumb to turn the key, but you donât know how else youâd use it. You take another slow, deep breath before popping that thumb back in.Â
After moving it around and massaging it to get the blood flowing back in, you scramble off the bed and run downstairs.Â
You need to go back to your motel room and get your gun, not even bothering to look and see if they have any, but first you need to go back into their room downstairs and see if thereâs any hints about where they might be going.Â
It appears that all the photos that have red circles on them are past victims, so you have absolutely no idea where they might be.Â
Youâre about to leave the room and go back to the motel when you remember the medical file from Massachusetts. It looks like they have pictures of a copy; how would they even get that?Â
But you bend down to read it and a searing pain splits through your forehead. It hurts so bad it forces your eyes shut and youâre only able to comprehend a few words and phrases.Â
HypothermiaâŚ18 hours in the snow.Â
Pneumonia.Â
Head-induced trauma caused retrograde/post-traumatic amnesia.Â
The pain in your head brings you to your knees as you try to make sense of the record. You remember learning about types of amnesia in your psych classes, and retrograde means you canât remember things that happened before the accident.Â
Is that why thereâs a block? Or is it because of something you saw in the woods?Â
Nothing is adding up.Â
Why didnât your parents ever tell you about this? Is this the reason you left Salem so quickly?Â
The throbbing in your head has leveled down to a dull ache and youâre able to stand up. This is all connected somehow, you just donât know how.Â
What you do know is that you need to find them and stop them.Â
You dig around the drawers in the kitchen to find a set of keys to Rioâs car, youâre guessing, and youâre peeling out of their driveway, not even caring about the speed limits. You blow through stop signs and red lights, but itâs late enough that no one else is on the road.Â
Throwing the car into park once you get back to the motel, you shoulder open the door to your room and come to a halt.Â
Itâs the smell that hits you first.Â
A sickly sweet honeysuckle scent wafts into your nose and you almost retch. Purple azaleas litter the floor in a path from the front door to the bedroom door, candles lit on both sides like a romantic rendezvous.Â
They were already here. How could they have known youâd come back? Are they in the other room?Â
Heart pounding, you gulp before reaching for your gun on the table and cautiously stepping toward the bedroom. You close your eyes and say a little prayer that youâre not about to be killed, and you kick it open.Â
Thereâs more azaleas, and enough candles to perform a ritual. Your gaze scans the room, breaths getting shorter and shallower.Â
And then you see the bed and your hands clamp over your mouth in order to smother the cry that comes out involuntarily.Â
Itâs the woman from the gas station, sprawled out like a starfish, completely naked from the waist up. Thereâs a lace from one of your pairs of shoes wrapped tightly around her neck, face tinted blue.Â
Your body violently shakes as you walk over to her and you see her chest.Â
The letter âOâ is carved around her right breast. The letter âUâ around her left. âRâ is carved into the right side of her stomach, and âSâ into the left.Â
OURS.Â
We have to go teach someone a lesson about taking things that donât belong to them.Â
Ignoring the heat running through your body, you spot a notecard clenched in her hand and you wrench it out.Â
On one side, it says: Sorry, baby. Xoxo. On the other side, thereâs an address.Â
You know itâs a trap, like this right here was, and like everything else may have been, but what choice do you have?Â
Your fingers tighten on your gun and you get back into Rioâs car, punching the location into your phone.Â
This ends tonight.Â

The Coma Kid Pt 3
TFO B-127 x Reader
⢠âMaybe you shouldnât hold them like that?â The one youâve dubbed Big Daddy suggests and your captor makes a noise and flips you right side up a bit too quickly. Swallowing convulsively, you almost hope you do hurl all over him. Maybe that will convince him to let you go. Shoving at B-127 when he presses his face against your neck and shoulder, snuggling you like a kid with a new kitten. âI shouldnât be here. Just let me go and Iâll pretend I didnât see any aliens,â you say, shivering as his lips brush skin and something pulls at you, a tug in your core that makes your breath catch as a warm and absolutely unwanted feeling of rightness and belonging spill through you. No. Horrified, you struggle harder against his grip. Not happening. You are not feeling drawn to this kidnapping jerk.
⢠âBut weâre sparkmates.â You must be able to feel that same warmth he feels holding you. Looking beseechingly up at Optimus as the bigger bot rubs the side of his helm. âI can feel them. Need them. Theyâre home and belonging and I wonât need to be alone ever again.â Trying to make Optimus understand that this matters. This is everything and he canât just let you go. Needs you too much and maybe you donât want him, thatâs okay. Heâs used to that. If he just keeps smiling, youâll come around eventually. Feels you shiver against his servos when his mouth slides against your neck again. âI canât let them go.â Panic growing at the edge of his processor, he forces a big smile, pretending itâs okay. âWeâre going to be so happy together.â
⢠And heâs walking away with you as Big Daddy just looks on, concerned. Apparently not sure how to deal with this and not going to save you. Hating that the touch of his mouth against your neck sparks through you and he just keeps doing it. Heat spreading through you in little waves that you are not willing to examine too closely. âLook, pal, you donât love me,â trying to shove his big face away and stiffening as his lips part and his glossa brushes the inside of your wrist, entire body going electric with the contact. With need. Swearing, you yank your hand back and slap him. âCut it out! Weâre not soulmates or whatever. I donât know whatâs going on, but Iâm going home.â
⢠âSparkmates,â he corrects, slightly hurt. You can feel it, his spark thrumming every time you react to him. Because even if you donât like it, you can feel it. Youâll come around eventually. Love him as much as he already loves you. âThis is home. Youâll love it, everyoneâs great here,â he says. Youâre so soft in his servos, heâll need to find soft things for his berth for you. Whatever it is humans use for fuel. âNeither of us ever need to be alone again,â he whispers, nuzzling against you as you slap him again and he ignores it. While it doesnât physically hurt, it makes his spark ache that youâre so unhappy. âYouâll see. This was fated.â Just needs to show you he can be a good mate, attentive and caring. Patient. Servos flexing as the unwanted thought comes that if he gets you with a sparkling, you wonât be able to leave. Youâd have to stay.
⢠Slumping in his grip and shaking out your stinging palm, you admit defeat for now. He canât babysit you all the time, you just need to find an opportunity and escape. And sparkmates? Itâs not like the big, alien lovesick puppy can actually do anything to you. He just wants to cuddle you to death. âSure. Fine.â And he lights up, those little nubs on his helm lifting some as he grins at you like you just made his day. Eyes narrowing at him, because you resent the fact that heâs kind of cute when he smiles. Trying to remind yourself that he kidnapped you. Heâs absolutely not a puppy, so you canât think of him like that. Canât start to like him no matter what.

Hours wasted in the land of hopes and dreams
So I won't look back

The sound of the kettle boiling filled the quiet of Aaron's kitchen as he leaned against the table, watching you move with a sort of efficiency that comes from many sleepovers. You wore one of his old shirtsâsleeves rolled up and hem brushing mid-thighâand a pair of fuzzy socks that made you slide slightly every time you moved on the hardwood floors.
Hotch hadn't said much yet; he rarely did in the mornings, preferring to let the stillness stretch comfortably between you. But he couldn't help the small smile forming on his lips as he noticed the way you hesitated, scanning the spice rack for cinnamon.
"Top shelf, left corner," he said gently, not wanting to startle you.
You turned, face lighting up with a shy smile that made the corners of your eyes crinkle. With the cinnamon jar now in hand, you gave a small shake of your head, half-laughing as you met his gaze.
"I can never remember where you keep this," you said, tipping the jar and its contents, letting the dust sprinkle over the tea you had made for him.
"You can rearrange it if you want."
You paused, hand hovering over the cup, and he caught of flicker of something in your eyesâuncertainty maybe? But also, gratitude. You didn't answer, but the way you slid the cup toward him before your own told him enough.
You had met at a charity event for the local community centerâa rare evening where Aaron had allowed himself to be coaxed into something social. It wasn't his scene, not really, and he'd spent most of the evening observing from the edges.
That was where he spotted you. You were standing off the side, kinda like him, just far enough away to signal that you weren't interested in being swept up by the crowd. You weren't really mingling and yet you didn't seem necessarily out of place.
He was immediately hit by a desperate feeling that he needed to know youânot because of any grand gesture or flashy attempt you made to command attention, but because you stood out in a way that felt unintentional. Honestly, you seemed to fold in on yourself, as if trying to take up less space in the crowded room, and yet, somehow, his eyes had been drawn to you anyway.
When he approached, you had spoken sparingly, offering responses that were polite but reserved, as though you weren't quite sure what to make of him. He didn't blame you--in fact, the agent in him had almost wanted to praise your caution. Over time, the reserved part about you hadn't changed much; you still spoke in fragments, your words often trailing off before they gave too much away.
Your words came with intention, always measured, smiles small but genuine. It wasn't shyness, exactlyâmaybe carefulness, like you were testing the waters before stepping too far in.
Aaron hadn't minded. He'd spent his whole career learning to read between the lines, to hear what wasn't being said. With you, it was no different.
Now, as he watched you sip your tea, the sunlight spilling across your face and tracing the curve of your cheek, he felt something similar to... pride? Or perhaps something close to it. He wasn't exactly sure how to name it, but it stuck all the same. You had grown more comfortable with him, more at ease, and though the changes were subtle, he noticed every single one.
You hadn't share much from your past, just enough to give him a sense of what had shaped you, of why you kept your emotions so closely contained. He didn't need more than that. It wasn't his place to ask for what you weren't ready to give.
You slid into the chair across from him, fingers circling around the mug. He noticed that way you hesitated for a moment, gaze lingering on the steam rising from the tea, before finally meeting his eyes.
"You slept better last night." It wasn't a question, but an observation.
You had hogged all the covers too but he'd let that slide.
You nodded. "I did. It was nice not waking up to an alarm for once."
He chuckled lightly. "It has its perks."
There was a pause, one he didn't mind, as you took a sip of your tea and stared out the window. Then, as though the thought just occurred to you, you said, "Jack's soccer game is tomorrow, right?"
He blinked, a little surprised by the question. You didn't usually volunteer personal topics like thatâit wasn't that you didn't care, but you often waited for him to bring them up first.
"It is," he replied, lips twitching into a smile that he tried to hide behind his mug. "He's excited. Wants to show off a new move he learned."
Your smile grew, a genuine softness in your expression that made his chest ache. "I'd like to come. If... if that's okay."
"Of course it's okay. He'll be thrilled to have you there."
You smiled in response, reaching for the sugar on the table, and as you stirred it in your tea, he noticed how your fingers weren't trembling like they often did when you were uncertain about something.
Aaron leaned back in his chair, mug balanced in one hand as he glanced at the clock. "Speaking of, I should probably call Jack soon, remind him not to leave his science project until last minute again."
You smiled. "What's it on this time?"
"Volcanoes," he said with a faint chuckle. "His teacher sent a list of guidelines, but he's convinced he doesn't need them. He's got big plans involving food color and baking soda."
"That's ambitious," you said, your sleeve dipping to cover your palm as you used it to prop up your cheek. "Hopefully it's not one of those projects that ends up being more work for the parent than the kid."
Aaron gave a dry laugh. "You have no idea. I'm just hoping I don't end up with vinegar all over the kitchen floor."
You smiled at that.
And Aaron couldn't help but stare, fixed on the way the corners of your lips lifted just enough to soften your entire face. Your smile--it was something he doubted he'd ever get used to. The curve of your lips, the way your eyes squinted just slightlyâlike you were letting yourself feel it rather than show it. It was beautiful and he wanted to memorize it, to etch the image into his mind--just in case you grew tired of him and the smile stopped being his to see.
The silence settled easily, your hum breaking it just enough as you reached for your mug and made your way to the sink. This was another thing he loved about being with youâthe way you never felt the need to fill the silence with meaningless chatter.
You were comfortable in silence which happened to be so different from his world, where every day was a mess of bloodshed, tension, noise. But when he was with you, it all disappeared, the volume had been turned down on everything that usually against him. And that was rare, almost unheard of, and he knew better than to take it for granted.
You lingered by the sink for a moment, eyes casting downwards to your now empty cup. "Can I ask you something?"
Aaron straightened in his chair, his attention sharpening. "Of course."
You turned, leaning back against the counter and crossing your arms loosely over your chest. "If someone said I was too quiet, like, to the point where it's a problem, would you agree with them?"
Aaron's brow furrowed. He was surprised by the question. "Why are you asking?"
You cleared your throat. "One of my coworkers said something about me. Not to my face, of course, but I guess they were complaining that I'm too quiet and that I make things awkward because I don't speak up enough. Someone else mentioned it in passing, and it's just... stuck in my head."
Aaron frowned. "What do you mean stuck in your head?"
You shrugged again, shifting your weight to the balls of your feet. "I don't know. It's not like they're wrong. I am quiet. But the way they said it, like it's some character flaw... I don't know. I've been thinking about it ever since. Maybe I should be trying harder."
Aaron leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table. "Trying harder at what?"
"Being... less me, I guess," you said, a small, humorless laugh following that made him a little sick to his stomach. "Maybe they're right. Maybe I should be speaking up more, orâI don't knowâtrying not to make things awkward for people."
"You don't have to change who you are to make people comfortable."
You blinked, glancing up at him with parted lips as though you hadn't expected that response.
"I mean... it's not that big of a deal, right? People vent about their coworkers all the time."
"That doesn't mean it's okay," Aaron said firmly. "And it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt."
You pressed your lips together, fingers fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. "Maybe. But I just... keep thinking about it. Like maybe I should've done something differently."
"Being quiet isn't a flaw. It's part of who you are, and there's nothing wrong with that. If someone can't appreciate the way you contribute, that's on themânot you."
You stayed quiet for a second, fingers stilling as you leaned into the sink. Finally, you asked, your voice almost too soft to hear. "You don't think I'm overreacting?"
"I don't," Aaron said. "I think you're being hard on yourself when you don't need to be. You're allowed to feel upset when someone talks about you that way. It doesn't make you sensitiveâit makes you human."
You let out a small breath, your shoulders relaxing as you finally met his eyes. "Thanks. I guess I need to hear that."
He watched you for a second before standing and crossing the kitchen and when he stepped in front of you, he reached out to rest his hand gently on your cheek.
You looked up at him and before you could say anything he leaned in and pressed a kiss to your cheek. When he pulled back, his hand lingered on your cheek for a moment longer, thumb brushing lightly against your skin.
"You know, if I'm going to Jack's game tomorrow, I should probably brush up on my soccer rules. I don't wanna embarrass myself."
Aaron's lips quirked into a small smile, the seriousness softening. "Don't worry. Jack's not exactly playing by FIFA standards. As long as you clap when he gets the ball, you'll be fine."
You laughed softly. "Good to know. I'll be sure to bring my A-game."
"You'll be perfect."
You tilted your head, your smile lingering as you studied him. "You always know what to say, don't you?"
"Not always. But when it comes to you, I try."

Soooo your post really inspired me and I made a thing. I think this reprise would fit between defying gravity and thank goodness: after Elphie escapes the Emerald City, she can finally stop to ponder everything that happened that crazy day and what led up to it. Hope you like it!
(BTW op's tags were: #and don't get me started on how actually elphie gets basically everything she wished for in that song through glinda #at the oz dust when finally no one thinks she's strange #standing hand in hand in the emerald city)
"Galinda and I"
Did that really just happen?
Have I actually understood?
That odd girl I loathed, who once was a foe
Is now a friend who gave me what I deserved
Helped me make good
So I'll make good
When I met Galinda
She showed me my worth
Once I met Galinda
Changed some views I've held since, since birth
She may not seem to have much wisdom
But by my looks she came un-blinded
Did you think my best friend is dumb?
Or like Munchkins so small-minded? No!
We learned to see the me that I truly am
A girl on whom Oz can rely
And my new life began
Galinda and I
When we were at the Ozdust
My whole life was changed
Cause we danced at the Ozdust
And no one called us strange
Though friends may be quick to leave me
Though I may be abhorred
And the Wizard he decived me
But by Galinda, I'm adored
And these gifts and these powers I have inside
Finally at last I know why
We'll save Oz hand in hand
Galinda and I
I know that you said to me "Elphie dear,
a girl who is so superior,
People don't care about what's inside;
Only see the exterior"
You may be right, though I disagree,
So you stayed back while I flew out free
I hope it's all right by you
I promise we'll make it through
Of course I know that you're you while I'm me
I know that you will get by
Still, think what we could be:
Galinda and I
Yes think what we could be:
Galinda and-
Unlimited...
(And of course I would switch over into the defying gravity refrain of Unlimited here because why try to improve perfection?)
Anyways, it's late in my time zone and I'm going to bed. If anyone wants to add on with more lyrics for the end of "Galinda and I" feel free
thinking about how the best case scenario that elphaba can imagine in the wizard and i is that finally someone will come along who will be able to change everything about her. even in her wildest dreams, she views that as her best option.
and then.
along comes galinda. who - after spending an entire night attempting to give her a makeover - settles on: âactually, youâre perfect just the way you are. i wouldnât change a thing. except maybe to tuck a little piece of myself in with you, just there.â
and i just think thatâs neat.

TLOU fic: See Me After
Merry Christmas @auteurdelabre! I'm your Secret Santa for this year's @pedrostories exchange and I have a little gift for you 𼰠Most of my writing is light and fluffy so it was a fun challenge to get a prompt like forbidden relationships and figure out how to spin it, haha. I had already been thinking about sex pollen and then you told me you love that trope, so here we are. I hope you enjoy this, and that you have a very happy holiday!
Title: See Me After Pairing: Joel/f!Reader Rating: Explicit Word count: 2.4k Content/warnings: Pre-series, reader is Sarah's teacher and around Joel's age. Sex pollen, masturbation, sex, breaking of school district policy on multiple levels lol. Unbetaed but thanks as always to @fleetwoodmactshirt and @mourningbirds1 for their invaluable advice and cheerleading.
Mrs. Taylor, the third grade math teacher, had told you about the fraternization policy your first week at the schoolâand the incident back in â97 that necessitated it in the first place.
âIâll tell you what,â sheâd said conspiratorially, âIâm not so sure it wouldâve made it into the handbook if the dad Miss Kayla was stepping out with didnât happen to be married to the PTA presidentâs sister.â
But he had been, and itâs there now in black and white on page 16 of the packet youâd received from HR: District Policy 3A(1) On fraternization with studentsâ family members. In short, dating parents is not allowed.
Amid lesson plans and curriculum revision, dating is the last thing on your mind anyway and you donât think much about it beyond the opportunity for break room gossip. Youâre too busy learning the ropes at a new school, and when the weekends come youâre focused on getting your laundry done and seeing your friends. Romance falls by the wayside and you barely miss it.
Then the fall term starts, and Sarah Miller joins your class.
Mr. Miller is one of the most attractive men youâve ever laid eyes on. Heâs all broad shoulders and deep brown eyes, thick hair falling in soft curls over his forehead and a comfortable Texan accent from his mouth. He repeats your name as you shake hands and between his deep voice and the large, calloused hand firmly gripping yours, you feel your knees start to buckle and you know youâre fucked.
A little fantasy never hurt anybody. Thereâs no District Policy 3A(2) On fantasizing about that one hot dad. This is what you tell yourself at the end of Curriculum Night, after youâve gone home and showered and climbed into bed, ready to decompress from meeting every new student and their parents in one whirlwind evening.
What were those hands so big for if not to imagine how theyâd cup your hips, how firmly theyâd grip your thighs and part them to discover you? Why have a voice that deep, that little bit rough around the edges, if not to hear it moan in your ear and tell you, come on, baby, just like that?
You donât mean for it to turn into a fixation. Itâs just an easy, unattainable fantasy. Cooking him dinner and him thanking you by fucking you on the kitchen table, coaxing a new orgasm from you until youâre so wrung out he needs to help you to bed. Him picking you up in his truck and driving you somewhere quiet, like two teenagers sneaking off, straddling him in the cramped space to ride his hand, and the beard burn you get on your neck doesnât even sting. Itâs a dopamine boost.
Sarahâs dad is kind of a dick.
You catch him outside on a Friday, waiting to pick up his daughter after school. Heâs leaning against the door of his truck, arms crossed over his chest, sunglasses hiding his eyes. You try not to let your gaze linger too long on his biceps and how his t-shirt sleeves strain to contain them.
âMr. Miller.â
He starts when you greet him and you wonder if heâd been dozing behind the shades, despite the cacophony of schoolchildren spilling out onto the sidewalk around you. But he gives you a polite nod in return.
âI just wanted to remind you of the parent volunteer opportunities for this year,â you say, holding out a printed flyer.
He accepts the paper, glances down at it, and grimaces like youâve asked him to sign up for a root canal.
âThanks.â He doesnât crumple the paper but he drops it through the open window of his truck onto the passenger seat, where you imagine it getting lost amid the standard car detritus of fast food napkins and gas station receipts.
You wait a beat, but he doesnât say anything more.
âOkay, well. Have a good weekend,â you tell him. He nods again, silently, and you think his eyes have probably already shut again as you turn to go. But then you hear a quiet, âyou too,â like an afterthought, and for some reasonâinsanity, perhapsâyou feel a blush rising to your cheeks as you walk away.
That night, he turns a little mean. Selfish. He puts you on your knees at his feet, offers you his dick to suck, teases his foot between your legs so you can grind against his shoe for relief. You press hard against your clit and focus on his cock, imagining how heâd fill your mouth, salt-skin-heat on your tongue, and itâs mortifying how quickly it makes you come, alone and muffled against your pillow.
Thereâs a rumor going around school that the fifth grade chemistry teacher, Mrs. Fontaine, is a witch. If itâs true, she must be one of the good ones, because sheâs only ever been nice to you.
Itâs a Tuesday and you come across her in the break room, perusing a newspaper and drinking coffee out of a mug decorated with a black cat. Sheâs never seemed too concerned with dispelling the rumors.
âAh, here,â she says, nodding hello as you head to the fridge. âYour horoscope. What you are dreaming of will find you, whether or not you think youâre ready for it. Embrace your destiny, even if it means breaking a few rules.â
You raise an eyebrow. âBreaking rules? Are you sure youâve got the right sign?â you joke.
She laughs knowingly. âThe stars are telling you to let loose; maybe you should listen.â
âMaybe these celestial bodies donât really know my business,â you counter. Mrs. F just shakes her head, like youâre the one being silly here.
Sarahâs dad blows off your scheduled parent-teacher meeting and sends her uncle in his place.
It makes you prickle with irritation.
Tommy Miller is nice enough. Heâs younger than you, and a natural flirt, quick with a smile and a polite yes or no, maâam when you ask him a question. He also has no idea what subject you teach or which grade Sarah is in, but he seems sincerely pleased to hear sheâs doing well in your class, and he promises to share your report with her father, who will definitely, definitely follow up.
Youâre not holding your breath.
In the final week of the semester, Sarah hands you an envelope on her way to her seat. Your name is scratched on the front in boxy letters. Inside, the note reads:
Iâm sorry I missed our one-on-one. I had a work project go overtime and couldnât get away. Thanks for meeting with Tommy instead. He told me Sarah is keeping up and about your reccomendation for the competition. Thatâs very cool.
I know you all want parents to volunteer. Ainât nobody wants to eat my bake sale cupcakes but if you have anything that needs fixed around the classroom I can do that for you. Tommy mentioned there was some loose tile by the door.
Call me to schedule it and Iâll show up this time, promise.
-Joel
The promise gets you. You sigh, thinking you might forgive him after all, and get started jotting down a list of the loose tiles and crooked cabinet doors your maintenance guy has been ignoring for the past year.
He shows up in a tool belt and work boots, on Saturday morning as youâd arranged. The building is deserted and itâs almost serene walking through the empty hallways, silent but for the click of your shoes and the heavy tread of his.
You feel slightly self-conscious, being alone with him in person after all the time youâve spent with the thought of him in private, but you try your best to push that down so you can appear professional.
Mr. MillerâJoelâseems at ease, rambling about the history of the district school buildingsâ retrofits and how many decades itâs been since theyâve been properly updated. Itâs endearingly uninteresting, reminding you of countless students who have subjected you to impromptu lectures on their own special interests over the years, and youâre biting back a smile by the time you reach your own classroom.
He takes in the room with an expertâs eye, systematically going through the list youâd made him and making notes to himself, finally tucking his pencil behind his ear for safekeeping when heâs done.
Youâve got your own list to get through, to close out the term and ready for the upcoming oneâlesson plans to print and organize, task cards to laminate, books to sort in the classroom library as you swap out this yearâs unit for the next. You busy yourself while he gets to work and thereâs a companionable silence in the room, broken by the shuffle of papers and books on your end, hammering and the occasional muttered curse word from his.
You allow yourself to watch him when his back is turned. You watch his back, in factâthe sturdy slope of it down to the little patch of bare skin that reveals itself when he reaches forward and his shirt rides up. His skin looks soft. Lush, you think, and you luxuriate in the vision of him until you realize youâre biting your lip and force yourself to snap out of it and get back to alphabetizing.
Coming to a break, you stand up and stretch, then slip off your shoes and wiggle your toes. Yesterday, Mrs. Fontaine had dropped off a tin of cookies and in the rush of wishing your students a happy break, youâd forgotten to grab them on your way out. Theyâre still sitting on the corner of your desk, and you perch next to them and open the box.
âCookie?â you offer. âMy co-worker made them.â
Joel has been re-hanging cupboard doors to make them sit straight, and he looks up from his screwdriver. âThanks.â
He washes his hands with care at the corner sink and comes to settle by your side, a respectful distance away. You munch on the cookies, looking around the room to admire his work. The changes are subtle, but for as many hours as youâve spent in this room, they stand out to you. Little things like the cupboard doors closing properly, and the wooden border around your white board looking good as new instead of cracked along the edge.
âIt looks great,â you tell him. âI appreciate your work.â
He shrugs, like itâs nothing, but you see the smile on his face and can tell heâs happy youâre pleased.
It hits you first, you think. The strangest sensation, like a ripple through your body awakening every nerve.
âI feelâŚâ you start, unsure.
What is it you feel?
You look at him and you watch as it strikes him too, as his jaw drops and his breathing goes shallow.
Your body feels drawn to his like thereâs a magnet pulling you in. The air is suddenly thick, sticky with arousal brewing between you. Your eyes are locked with his and you see his pupils dilate, his gaze turning heavy with intent.
âMaybe we just⌠need some fresh air,â you suggest. Itâs a struggle to turn from him to walk to the door and when you reach it your body aches. You look back at him, seeing the pained expression on his face and how tightly his fingers are gripping the edge of the desk. Your eyes dropâyou canât help itâto see the bulge in his jeans, and as if your body has taken over all decision-making, your fingers reach past the knob to engage the lock instead.
He kisses how you thought he would. Intense and focused. But his hands are nicer, gentler, than in your imagination. They smooth over your curves, settle on your back and your ass to pull you closer, into the space between his legs. His arms are a solid grip around you and your body melts against his until heâs the only thing holding you up.
He turns the two of you around so you can sit on the desk while he stands over you, panting when your lips break apart.
âIâve never felt like this,â he whispers. âI feelâI needââ
He kisses you desperately and slides his hands under your shirt. The touch of his fingers on your body is like a dam breaking; now that youâve felt it you need every inch of his skin against yours. Your hands knock as you rush to remove each othersâ clothes, and it would be almost comical if you didnât feel like you might die without him inside you soon.
Heâs nudging his cock at your entrance, a spellbound, breath-held silence between you and a wanting ache in your gut.
âPlease,â you whisper. It was chilly this morning but now youâre flushed with heat. His skin is glowing with sweatâit almost distracts you, noticing how the hard angle of his collarbone is softened by the sheen of it. You lean forward, set your mouth to his skin to taste him, and he groans.
He grinds against you, the thick length of him riding over your cunt. It feels like a tease, but itâs not; heâs holding himself back.
âTell me you want it,â he breathes.
âJoel,â you moan. âPlease. I want you.â
Your body arches as his cock drives you open, pleasure buzzing through your veins. He bows his head, mouth at your neck, the soft scratch of his beard pressing into your skin. With a gasping breath, he murmurs, âI wanted youâall this time,â and you think you might see stars.
You ignore the phone ringing, but when the answering machine switches on and you hear the urgency in your friendâs voice, you reluctantly drag yourself to the kitchen to pick up.
âTell me you didnât eat those cookies,â Mrs. Fontaine says.
You open your mouth, wondering what you should say, but she barrels on without you, explaining the mix-up with the special batch sheâd made for date night with her husband and how sheâs only just realized the mistake, and maybe sheâs making a big deal out of nothing but you didnât eat the cookies yet, did you?
You look up and see Joel leaning in the doorway to your bedroom, naked but for a pair of shorts, and abruptly you decide you donât have time for this conversation.
âYou know what? Iâm gonna have to call you back,â you tell her, and with that, you hang up the phone.

I am a firm believer that sex is NOT the only gift you should give someone as a gift HOWEVER...
imagine a full day of festivities on Christmas day with your husband, Nanami. You guys exchanged gifts almost feeling like you were trying to top each other with the next gift you watched each other unwrap.
You got Nanami the watch he showed some interest to -> he handed you the little wrapped box of the newest Vivienne Westwood drop
You watched him unwrap a new standing mixer -> he pushed a box towards you that contained your favorite perfume that was discontinued years ago.
Do you get the gist now? BUT!! you had one last card up your sleeve, after having a dinner full of giggles and laughs you stand up abruptly. Nanami raised an eyebrow but didn't ask where you were going.
"Could you clean up here, ken? I have one more gift I wanna give you" You smile softly at him, trying to look as innocent as possible
"Honey, that's no fair you're giving too much" he furrowed his eyebrows realizing you gave more than he gave you
"no no, it's okay, my love. It's something small don't worry" Again you give the same innocent smile and instead of questioning further Nanami sighs and nods, moving to clean the dining table. "Okay give me like 5 minutes" You run upstairs to your shared room and get to work. While in the shopping district, you ran across a small intimacy store. From the open door, you could see some of the lacy pieces so you decided to check it out, and it's a good thing you did because you found the sexiest set ever, dark forest green with intricate embroidery. It left nothing to the imagination and you knew it was going to be Nanami's favorite set.
after doing a once over making sure everything was perfect it was go time.
"Okay, ken- honey. I'm done" you called for him and right when you finished your sentence the said man opened the door, seems as if he was waiting for your go-ahead to walk in.
"Oh, my love..." In three big strides, he makes his way to you, large hands finding themselves on your waist, rubbing up and down. "Gimmie a spin yeah?" giggling you do as he asked slowly twirling in a circle so he could take everything in. "this is your 'something small'?" he scoffed. Because to him this was anything but. His favorite color looks heavenly against your skin. And the way it fits so snugly against you, highlighting all your soft curves, he was practically drooling. Nanami pulls you in for a kiss groaning as his hands roam down to cup your ass, squeezing the soft flesh. You pull away and make your way to the bed and set on the edge. Nanami watches as you spread your legs apart revealing what he wanted to taste most at the moment, and much to his surprise (and satisfaction) the slit in the middle of your lingerie exposed your glistening folds and he falls to his knees immediately ready to devour you.
"Merry Christmas, Ken"

small Christmas piece I wanted to do. Happy holidays!! and if you don't celebrate anything I hope you have/had an amazing day !!! <333

He doesn't like to lose his temper, but this once he wishes he's well enough to physically throw every last one of his visitors out of his room.
He can't, so he uses his words instead. "Get out."
"Buck," Maddie begins placatingly.
"Out!" Buck hates the way she flinches and the way her eyes shimmer with tears, so he turns away from the sight.
"Buck, we didn't mean to lie to you, you needed to rest-" Chimney puts in, but Buck grabs the bottle of water from his meal tray and hurls it in their direction. Chimney catches it before it hits anyone or anything. "Buck!"
"Out! Get out! Get out get out get out!" Buck shouts with all the strength he can muster, and the commotion must have caught the attention of a passing nurse, who firmly ushers Maddie and Chimney away from the room. once he's left alone, Buck collapses back into the pillows. His bruised side hurts and so does his head. His right ankle is throbbing.
The nurse comes back and sets a new bottle of water next to him. "I'm guessing that was not the most restful of visits, Mr Buckley. Let me check your vitals, hmm?"
"They lied to me," Buck mutters. He shuts his eyes and covers them with his forearm, for good measure, while the nurse takes his blood pressure using the other arm. The edges of the bandage around his skull brush against his arm. "They told me Tommy's alright, that he'd been here. They fucking lied to me."
The nurse hums sympathetically. "Who is this Tommy?"
"Tommy Kinard. He's in the ICU." Buck's lips wobble. "He saved my life and he's in the ICU and I can't go to him. They won't let me."
"You are still recovering yourself, Mr Buckley."
Buck sniffs and smiles weakly, lowering his arm to see who the nurse is. "Nick, hi. Everyone calls me Buck."
"Oh, so you're the miracle," Nick says with a smile. Nick looks to be about Tommy's age, his plump features and confident manner very assuring. "They tell me you and your team are frequent visitors. That's not a good thing, Buck."
"Tommy joked that we should have our own wing." Buck can feel his throat closing with emotion. "We,uh, we seem to have pretty bad luck."
"But they call you the miracle. Said you survived being struck by lightning and your heart stopped for over three minutes."
"Three minutes and seventeen seconds."
"Wow," Nick marvels. "That is a miracle." Then he removes the blood pressure cuff and shines a penlight into each of Buck's eyes. "Well, all seems good. I hope this Tommy guy recovers too, Buck."
Just then, Bobby walks in. "Hi, kid. How are we doing?"
"I wanna see Tommy," Buck says immediately.
Bobby's lips tighten. "Buck, I've been to see him. He's... he's unconscious. I don't know if it's a good idea for you to go up there and see him like that."
Fed up, Buck pushes himself off the bed and tries to stand on his one good leg. "I'm sick and tired of everyone telling me what they think I should or shouldn't do, or lying to me, or stopping me from contacting him," he snarls. "Everyone trying to decide what's good for me. I don't give a shit. I want to see him."
When he wobbles, Bobby catches him and sits him back down. Buck is breathing hard, and he doesn't even bother to try to hide his tears of frustration and worry.
"Pops, please," Buck begs, bringing up the old nickname. "He saved my life from Irene. I need to see him. If the worst happens and I didn't even get a chance to... I can't. I can't, Bobby. The look in his eyes before the semi hit us... I need to see him."
Bobby sighs. "Yeah, okay. Let me get you a wheelchair."
"No, crutches will do." Buck grits his teeth. "I can move. My injuries look a lot worse than they are."
"Kid, you were one massive bruise from shoulder to hip, you had a major concussion and you now have seven stitches in your scalp, and you twisted your ankle."
"Tommy's in the ICU," Buck counters. "I'm fine. Crutches."
---
Bobby fills Buck in on the severity of Tommy's injuries as they navigate their way to the ICU. it helps Buck to mentally prepare himself, but seeing Tommy in the bed, unconscious, looking the worse for wear - it breaks something deep inside Buck.
Once the nurses in charge have their information, Buck hobbles over to the chair the other guy - Sal, he thinks, recalling a photo Tommy showed him before of the old 118 - vacates.
Tommy looks horribly frail, connected to too many tubes and wires, his handsome face hidden by the ventilator. His hand is icy cold when Buck holds it.
"Tommy, please," Buck whispers. "I need to say it back. I need to. you can't- You're not allowed to make a dramatic declaration like that and leave me. Baby, you gotta wake up. I have to say it back to you."
He doesn't even know he's weeping until he realizes that the mask on his face is damp from absorbing his tears. Sal and Bobby have retreated outside the door.
Buck squeezes Tommy's cold, limp fingers and presses the back of the hand to his cheek. The monotonous beeps and steady hisses don't change at all.
"You're not allowed to play the hero and exit my life, you understand? You must wake up and get better. I need to apologize and we need to talk, we have so many memories to make together, you can't just leave me like this." Buck is sobbing now, and he feels a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. "I need to say it back. You gotta wake up so I can say it back."
"Tell him anyway," Bobby says quietly. "Maybe he needs to hear it."
Buck looks over his shoulder and meets Bobby's gentle gaze. Behind him, Sal is watching stoically, but his eyes on Tommy are filled with concern.
Wiping away the tears under his eyes - a futile gesture, since his mask is already pretty wet - Buck leans forward to get as close as he could to Tommy's ear.
"Tommy, I love you. I love you so much. Come back to me so I can prove it." He presses the tip of his nose to Tommy's cheek. "I love you. Please, wake up."

The slumbering Thing lies below Gotham, deep under the twisting caves and labyrinthine tunnels. It was borne from a curse, echoing backwards to the beginning of time. It was borne from love, the love of a people for their city, so powerful as to breathe life into It.
Janet Drake was infertile. No medical intervention could change that. But she wished, and prayed, and deep under her home, the sleeping Thing takes pity.
"I shall grant you a child, body of flesh and blood, soul and mind of mine. He will be a wonderful dream, waking and sleeping at once."
Janet knows that her miracle baby is strange, inhuman, but trying to grasp a specific memory of those nine months leaves her weary and aching. (Truly mortal flesh is not meant to hold a thing such as It, even a sliver, and it is a testament to her fortitude that she came out sane on the other side.)
Tim never sleeps. He naps, frequently and in the strangest places, but he never reaches deep sleep. He knows that he is the dream of something greater, the dozing Thing that exists under Its city. He fears that sleeping so deeply will rouse It from the dream permanently, and he will be forgotten as dreams tend to be.
(Tim has slept that deeply, before, due to being forced unconscious by head trauma or through chemical means. The Thing has yet to truly wake, letting Itself revel in its precious dream once more, but he always fears each slumber could be his last.)
(Tim is running out of ways to avoid the sleep study that Bruce seems intent on him getting, because the risk of a willful sleep is too great to ignore.)
An earthquake shakes Gotham to its core, revealing long-buried caverns and derelict catacombs. By pure chance, a chamber deep under the city becomes accessible from the Batcave. (Tim wants so desperately to trust his family with the truth, even just a whisper.)
Nightwing braves the new passage with cautious glee, the joy of discovery deep in his bones. Signal follows behind, pretending to lament his use as a walking flashlight, just as excited as his eldest brother. The Thing that slumbers deep below feels them coming, contains itself to a perceptible form so as not to break one of its treasured Birds.
"Nightwing. Report."
"Uh, there's something big down here. Really big. Pretty sure it's sleeping."
Tim shivers, sitting at his desk in his bedroom. The conversation passes through Its mind like sand, and his mortal brain can only catch so much.
"Elaborate."
"I... Signal, what do you see?"
"It's some Lovecraft bullshit down here, Batman. It's big, and it's definitely sleeping, but there's really no good way to define it otherwise. There is no word to describe the color I'm seeing right now, and I'm pretty sure that's not what Wing is seeing."
"Your eyes just slip right past it, trying to focus on it long enough to gauge its size gives me a migraine."
Tim's fingers still on his keyboard. For the first time in his life, the sleeping Thing feels dread. Itâ heâ doesn't want to wake up, please let It sleep please please pleaseâ
"Come back now. I will contact Justice League Dark."
"... Yeah. Copy that. C'mon, Sig."
<br>
alright prose/drabble over i need to get the rest of my ideas out and then take a nap
when Batman holds a meeting to discuss it, Tim is the only one who suggests just leaving it be. he knows its sus but he's desperately hoping they'll listen.
JLD sets up a bunch of wards in the tunnel connecting it to the cave. Tim starts napping more and more, never actually looking rested, his hands shake, his body aches, his focus is shot. Bruce worries that the entity is hurting his son.
Tim holds steady, though, until one day Batman tempts fate and goes to poke the bear (with a JLD member supervising, of course.) Tim, working in the cave, collapses. He curls into fetal position and pleads, begs, sobs, for them to stop, "let me dream, please, i don't want to wake up, please"
dealer's choice of whether Bruce keeps going (interpreting it as pulling a parasite out of his son) or listens to Tim and stops.
On one hand, the delicious angst of hurting his son by trying to help him, possibly killing the son that he knows. One of his other sons demands that he stop, something is wrong, but Bruce is too stubborn to let this beast sleep below his city unchecked, trying to contain it in its chamber. Tim realising that he can never trust Bruce with the truth, if he survives this.
On the other hand, fluff and emotional angst! The bats learn why Tim is just Like That, maybe they set up something so Tim doesn't have to worry about the entity waking up every time he gets knocked out, the proximity to his true 'body' makes Tim's human form a little more spooky and strange, the world is your oyster!
Short DPXDC Prompts #749
Tim Drake isnât human, he knows that and is comfortable in his skin. This strange ghost boy very obviously isnât comfortable in his ghost form around humans. He will help change that.

Maybe Iâm somehow super unaware that I missed it but whereâre you posting GWH nowadays? ;3;
Thank you for asking, and thank you for reading GWH! Unfortunately, it basically doesn't exist right now outside of like, the things I'm trying to make behind the scenes. I lost a lot of steam when the new format I worked really hard on lost a lot of traction and didn't sell as much as i had hoped (not anyone's fault besides my own and, maybe also Elon Musk's for kind of fundamentally destroying twitter dot com as we knew it) and also the second installment of it being 90% finished and then just being entirely lost to a hard drive failure also really just sent me into a spiral. And I also kind of just started hating my own work and art after that, have been working to try and improve, and keep my chin up despite watching a lot of my peers find success before me. Which is admitting one of my very selfish, ugly thoughts - but I do feel like maybe my webcomic was stupid and a waste of effort because it was never "legitimized" via publication like a lot of others surrounding me have been.
I've been kind of struggling with what to make lately. I have tried a lot of things that didn't really take off and it's left me confused about what to do. I feel like every shot I take at something isn't really met with much enthusiasm (again, nobody's fault but my own but if you want to blame this one on Musk as well sure why not) and I don't know how else to gauge if I'm doing the right thing. I think and write something for GWH almost every day, though. I am slowly chipping away at this vague idea of a "visual novel" version that will hopefully allow me to tell a contained story in one piece rather than falling off like I've done in the past. I really, really want to make that.
And in all total complete probably unsurprising honesty I'm just very depressed. Like seriously-considering-suicide-every-week-depressed. I'm sorry if that is a flippant way to express it, but I don't know how else to than to try and couch it in some flippant language. I don't have a lot of money, my health hasn't been very good, and I spend days and sometimes weeks entirely by myself. Making stuff is very difficult with these conditions and unfortunately (fortunately?) the cure to at least some of that is probably making more stuff! It's just taking some time and I really apologize for that. I hope you can forgive me and you'll like whatever I manage to make next. Thank you.

Whenever there's a crime in the town that has to deal with old Japanese cars, I'm the guy they call to solve it. My name is Detective Archibald Shitpope, and this is not one of those cases. Once in awhile, and I know it's hard to believe, something happens that's not about vintage Nipponese iron.
I was hand-washing my manual-swapped '92 Sera in the parking lot of the station when I heard a loud sigh from the next car over. It was my sometimes-lunch-buddy, sometimes-drinking-buddy Investigator Lionel Tout. He came from England, as part of a "detective transfer" that involved us finally getting rid of Detective Giorgio Mustang, who I genuinely hated. Dude would sit in the detective's bullpen and make idling-cammed-V8 noises the entire time he was thinking. I hope he enjoys Luxembourg and never wants to come back.
Tout, though, was a special case. His fixation? Trains. You've got three guesses what mode of transportation we don't have in our city. Hell, a few years back, the mayor then ordered the removal of the federal cargo train lines, convinced that A) he could sell the tracks for quick cash to a metal scrapper, and B) self-driving cars would soon deliver all of our stuff. Zero for two there, hoss, which is why he was literally crucified during an elementary-school Christmas play. That wasn't on the kids. It was the janitor trying to use it as a convenient way to dispose of a body. I got the call, because he had a 4Runner, but the responding officers figured it out real fast before I got there.
Tout came to town after that. Every day, he got a little more depressed that he wasn't able to solve crimes anymore. Back in Europe, he told me, he once solved a locked-room murder mystery. An heiress (or countess, I can't remember which) had lost her crown jewels and a man died to cover it up. Big deal in all the news, but Tout made the mistake of fixating too much on the train and not enough on the press. Solved the case, but his rival on the force got the promotion to Inspector First Class and the rest is history. Now he's here, drowning his sorrows in a mug full of rum shaped like Thomas the Tank Engine. And that gave me an idea.
That night, I phoned Tout at home. "Inspector," I tried to sound as much like a frightened old dispatch-desk lady as possible, "they've found a body at Uncle Steamy's Good-Time Hobby Emporium. You better get over there right away!"
The rest was all a detective's dream: a murder scene amongst a jealous swarm of model train hobbyists. Tons of passionate suspects, all with inconvenient alibis. A spiral of clues easily missed by lesser mortals. No security camera footage. And at the end of it, a perfect accusation and a tearful confession.
As he carried a perp (Jimmy One-Shoe, formerly arrested for foot crimes at the Payless) to the squad car, he noticed something sitting on the back seat. A little scale model of a Japanese Odakyu Limited Express "Romancecar."
Merry Christmas, Inspector. If the chief asks where I've been for the last two weeks, you tell him I was doing some detective shit, alright?

The Game Plan
Authorâs note: Merry Christmas Bolt famđŠľStill working on rewrites but I needed to write something new to get inspired. I am done with school so Iâll hopefully be able to get fics out more often!
Last time he was this nervous, he stood on shaky legs in front of a New York crowd accepting the William V. Campbell trophy. Public speaking wasnât his favorite thing in the world and he hated talking about himself. But this was about a hundred times more important. And more nerve wracking.
When Justin suggested flying to your hometown to spend some time with your parents, you didnât bat an eye. Youâd been talking about making a trip back home after the season was over and were elated to discover that he was on the same page. Now that the time had come and you were looking at him as he drove the rental car to your family home, you couldn't help but think maybe he was regretting his decision. The man was constantly fidgeting in his seat, his grip on the steering wheel tight, eyes full of stress and semi concern.
"You okay?" You furrowed your eyebrows at him, urging your boyfriend to let you in on whatever was causing him such turmoil.
"What? Oh yeah no, I'm fine." He knew that sounded less than convincing. "It's just weird with the season being over. Almost like I have to learn how to relax again. This week will be good though."
Nodding in understanding, you place a hand on his leg hoping that the simple touch will ease his mind. Little did you know he was in the midst of a huge inner crisis. Justin rehearsed what he was going to say a few more times before pulling into your parent's driveway. Swallowing down his nerves, he grabbed your suitcase and his, walking toward the front door feeling like his legs weighed a ton each.
Your mom had already taken you away to the kitchen by the time he walked in, immediately lost in conversation about work and life while your dad grabbed one of the bags out of Justin's hands. The two men trudged up the stairs to drop off the bags, exchanging pleasantries and getting settled in before heading to the backyard to cook. Your dad loved Justin. He was the perfect partner for you, a perfect mix of fun/exciting and responsible/caring. He had seen you fall more and more in love with the quarterback over the years which made it easy to love him too. And getting to talk about football all day with someone who actually valued such intimate conversations about the sport helped.
All of the distracting small talk was out of the way, Justin had complimented your dad on his new grill and the improvements he'd made on the backyard and they had unpacked some of the nitty gritty details of the season and who your dad thought they should draft as perfect additions to the roster for the next season and the only thing that remained was the pit of nerves in his stomach that hadn't disappeared since boarding the plane.
"Something on your mind?" Your dad was observant, not really one to beat around the bush. He'd noticed a slight edge to Justin's voice since the two of you had arrived and was really trying to wait to give him some time. He'd obviously gotten too impatient. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
Justin's had relationships before. Not many times, but he's felt security and love in other people, seeing a future with them and thought about what the rest of his life would look like. Being with you was not only the most serious relationship he'd ever been in but he found himself constantly planning for the future and setting his family up for long-term success, a family that he now couldn't envision without you. He swallowed thickly, suddenly overcome with emotion at the words that he needed to express to your father. "There is something on my mind actually," he clears his throat, trying really hard to maintain eye contact and not look down at the grill. "I wanted to come here first thing to ask you for your permission."
"My...permission?"
"Your permission, your blessing. Either one. Or both." Your boyfriend rambles on nervously, the words tumbling out of his mouth completely out of order and unlike anything heâd just spent time practicing.
Your dad still looks at him, confused. Justin sighs, "I love your daughter more than anything in the world. Sheâs the greatest thing in my life and I never thought Iâd have the opportunity to be with someone so special. Now that Iâve gotten to be with her I donât ever want to let her go and...it's really important for me to ask you before I propose."
In that moment it all begins to click and your dad nods. Here was one of the most calm and collected quarterbacks in the NFL stumbling over his words out of nerves because he wanted to ask for permission before getting engaged. A man who's build could arguably be compared to ancient Greek deities was a mere mortal when it came to you and it took every ounce of your dad's strength not to crack a smile. "You came all this way to ask me if you can marry my daughter. So you could do this in person?" The younger man nods. "Before I answer, can you promise me one thing?"
"Anything." Justin says without hesitation. He didn't care what he had to do, he just knew he was going to do it no matter what it took.
Your dad looks toward the house, watching you and your mom laughing while getting the sides set on the table. He looks back at Justin, eyes brimming with tears. "She is my greatest treasure. Promise me you will treat her like nothing less than that."
"I will sir, you have my word."
Justin holds out a hand and your dad pulls him in for a hug. "Welcome to the family son," patting him on the back. The quarterback swore he heard a crack in the other manâs voice but said nothing.
You watched the exchange from the kitchen, slightly confused because your dad didn't exactly give out free hugs like they were Halloween candy. "What is happening out there?"
Your mom catches her husband's eye at the end of the hug, seeing him point at his ring finger and trying to contain her excitement. "I'm sure it's nothing," she smiles, handing you another plate to set on the table, "Justin probably asked him if he wants to golf tomorrow. You know he's been trying to get more into it and bringing an NFL quarterback in front of all of his friends is definitely going to boost his confidence." The two of you stood in silence for a bit until you seemed satisfied with that answer and the two men were back inside, immediately distracting you from asking any further questions as conversation flowed as the food and wine were consumed. Justin helped your mom wash the dishes that night, deep in some secret conversation filled with sporadic giggles and all you could think about was how lucky you were to find someone that fit in so seamlessly. Little did you know they were planning a surprise that you'd never forget.
Step one? Find the perfect ring.
"Isabella, I need a favor," Justin takes a seat at the counter next to his sister-in-law. "You need to distract y/n for a couple hours so I can go through her phone."
Placing her own phone down, she looks at him like he's grown another head. "Why in the hell would I do that? Why would YOU do that?â The more she talks the more visibly upset she looks and Justin is severely regretting not being more specific.
âItâsâitâs not what you think. I justââ
She holds up a finger to keep him from explaining himself any more. âI just want you to know that Iâm never thought youâd be one of those people and itâs really disappointing.â
He sighs, looking around to make sure that you arenât walking in any time soon. âI heard you guys talking last week. About how you had a bunch of videos in your Tik Tok likes that helped you plan your wedding. Then she mentioned that sheâs been saving some rings that she thinks would look good on her and I need to see those. So I can design the best ring.â
The tension in her body is instantly released and her features are filled with relief. She holds a hand over her mouth to hide a happy squeal before taking a moment to compose herself so she doesnât give anything away when she sees you. âYouâre proposing,â she whispers leaning in close so no one else can hear.
He leans in too, a wide grin on his face. âIâm proposing.â
âIâll keep her busy,â she promises, giving him a fist bump.
A girls only DIY spa night in gave him the perfect outlet to grabbing your phone. As soon as the cucumber slices were on your eyelids and Isabella gave him the sign, your cellphone was in his hand and he got to work. He screenshotted 13 different ring designs, jotting down some notes in his own phone, looking at various ring styles and the cut that would best match the style that you were looking for. Then he jotted down some local jewelers to visit and design the ring in person, going as far as flying your best friend to Oregon for a few days under false pretenses that she had a work trip in the area and decided to stay at the ranch since it was nicer than a hotel.
Approximately four weeks after his initial meeting with the jeweler, Justin held the velvet box in his hands and admired everyoneâs hard work. Heâd had a hand in designing every crevice of the ring that looked much smaller in between his fingers as he examined the diamond. Fresh nerves were beginning to set in as the moment became more and more tangible and real. Once he found a secure spot to hide the ring, he moved forward with the next part of his master plan.
Step two? Come up with proposal ideas.
The beautiful thing about the offseason was that you still had to work remotely, so youâd be in your office in one corner of the house and after his morning workout he had all the free time in the world. The bad thing about that was that he had all this free time to sit and think about how he was going to set up an unforgettable proposal. Luckily, some of his receivers had come down for a Nike promo event and to throw so he had people to bounce ideas off of.
âWhat about this? I take her to Sofi and propose in the middle of the stadium with just the two of us. We have the video board showing monumental moments of our relationship and as sheâs watching I just get down on a knee.â
Ladd takes a sip of water, making eye contact with Derius, who says nothing. Justin continues pacing, taking the collective silence as a sign to suggest something else.
âDonât everyone jump up at once,â he lets out a nervous laugh, wracking his brain. âMaybe I could drive us to Napa Valley with dinner and some music?â That suggestion earned more interaction, some guys nodded, recalling their own proposals and having him take some pointers from their experiences. There was a time where he couldnât log onto Instagram without seeing one of his teammates getting engaged and the only thing that made him more nervous than proposing was the media circus that would result from the news getting out. Yes, he wanted it to be special and intimate but the thought of the social media team getting their hands on it and invading your privacy was a little scary. Somehow he had to push that thought out of his mind and tackle one problem at a time.
âPrivate beach proposal in Hawaii?â
Simi stands up at the suggestion, placing a hand on his friendâs shoulder. âSounds beautiful in theory, but arenât you scared of having the ring so close to the water?â
âYeah what if youâre so nervous that you drop the box and itâs washed away by the tide,â Ladd notes. âThe less distracting things around you the better. Helps you focus on just her.â
âI donât think thatâll be a problem, heâs obsessed,â Patrick says, walking by just to chastise his brother. Justin flips him off without uttering a word, an unwavering focus on the task at hand.
Nothing seemed right, some ideas were too flashy, too cheesy. He wanted to show you how much you meant to him, how youâd changed his perspective on life and balancing work and your relationship. That it was possible to do both because the right person brings things out of you that you didnât even know where there. How do you encompass all of those feelings into one perfect location?
âIâm not gonna lie,â Simi says, voice full of sincerity. âYou gotta let the perfect time come to you, youâll know when the time is right. Trust me.â
Justin had no other choice at this point. He spent the next few weeks holding onto the ring, desperately looking for the right time. Spending all this time stressing and planning and plotting had really taken him away from you. There was an unspoken distance between the two of you and it had become increasingly upsetting. Even when you were in the same room it felt like he was miles away, stuck in his own head, shutting you out completely. You were starting to think that he was looking for a way out and couldnât decide on a way to let you down easy. The thought of him tip toeing around a breakup made you nauseous.
âWhy havenât you done it yet? You canât keep putting this off forever,â you heard Mitch say one morning after you came home earlier than expected from an in-person work meeting. Usually you wouldnât eavesdrop, but Justinâs behavior hadnât exactly given you a vote of confidence in the state of your relationship. You couldnât even really remember the last time you went on a date without him looking like he was seconds away from getting sick.
Justin on the other hand had spent every dinner date thinking about whether or not this was the moment. Walking around with the ring in his pocket everywhere he went just in case, deathly afraid of you finding it on accident. That thought alone, of him walking in the house to you holding that ring box not only made him want to cry a little at the ruined surprise but also make him feel like throwing up. And he was tired of hearing everyone and their mom ask him when he was going to pull the trigger and propose.
Especially when he felt like it was happening every single day.
âIâm not putting it off! I justâthis is harder than I thought. Itâs not just something to check off the to-do list. I gotta do it right or Iâm not doing it at all.â
He felt so bad about dumping you that he was putting it offâŚso he could do it the right way? What even is the right way to end a relationship? You didnât want to stick around to find out, making your way back outside to sit in your car and think about your next move.
âJustin is planning on dumping me.â You sighed into the phone, calling your best friend.
âWhat? Where did you get that from?â
You spent the next 20 minutes explaining to her all the signs. His weird behavior, always on his phone but will never let you see what heâs doing or who heâs talking to. You feel like heâs hiding something but he makes sure to only give you minor details saying heâs planning a trip with the guys or talking to his agent about taking on different endorsements. It all just seems too fishy. Why is he torturing you like this by stringing you along? Should you just break up with him first?
âYou have to act normal like you donât suspect anything,â you hear at the other end of the line. Her voice is calm and reassuring which is nice because the last thing you needed to hear was that she didnât believe you. âIf heâs breaking up with you then let him explain him himself. Justin has never been someone to do things without a purpose and you know heâd never do anything knowing that it would hurt you.â
She had a point. âFine. Youâre right, Iâll hear him out and figure it out after I gather all the information. Thank you for talking me off the ledge.â
âYouâre welcome.â As soon as you hung up the phone, your friend texted Justin that he should start acting a bit more casual because you were freaking out.
The next evening, he surprised you with a bonfire movie night.
âWhatâs all this?â
Justin pats the spot on the outdoor couch next to him, welcoming you to take a seat. âAn apology? Iâm sorry Iâve been off lately. Thereâs been a lot on my mind and I got so lost in my head that Iâve been neglecting you but that stops today. It had nothing to do with how I feel about you at all, youâre not getting rid of me that easily.â
âCare to share with the class what was bothering you for so long?â
You cuddle into his side, a sense of comfort immediately taking over the constant state of unease that previously surrounded you. Looking up at him, he places a gentle kiss on your lips, so soft it leaves you wanting more. âIt doesnât matter now, all that I care about,â he sneaks another kiss, âis being right here with you.â
âWell in that case,â you whisper, âwe should make sâmores.â
Justin laughs, kissing you on the cheek and rising to his feet, helping you up before heading into the kitchen. The tray on the counter was loaded with various snack items, Reeseâs cups, pretzels and strawberries along with normal sâmore ingredients. As you made your way back to the bonfire and began to dig in, a thought popped into your mind while enjoying the stillness.
âWe canât do things like this in LA. You canât beat the scenery out there and the background noise of the traffic isnât exactly the most romantic.â
He looks up at the sky full of stars, remembering exactly why he bought land out here in the first place. âIâve always thought about raising our future kids here. Los Angeles is where I work but this is home, they can grow up and be normal kids here. Play outside, go fishing, experience a childhood that has lasting memories. Not sitting in traffic for hours and never seeing a real tree.â
âOur kids?â
âYeah,â he says without hesitation. âI think about Coach getting our son his first pair of khakis.â
You laugh, picturing it in your head, âand heâd probably get our daughter a custom pair of cleats to wear pregame.â
âExactly,â he throws his head back to laugh at the image of mini versions of you and him being spoiled by his head coach. He grabs another strawberry, dipping it in the melted chocolate and feeding it to you. âHow many kids do you want?â
âLetâs say it at the same time.â
He counts down from five, saying âthreeâ at the same time you do.
Looking at each other in shock, you burst into laughter at the fact that you have identical answers despite the fact that youâd never openly spoken about it. You each knew the other wanted children but just didnât know exactly how many. Justin felt like his heart might burst with an uncomfortable and overwhelming amount of happiness. If it wasnât clear then, it is now.
There, in that moment, nothing seemed more perfect. He looked down at your hands, spotting the manicure youâd gotten last week before attending a wedding. Simiâs words came flooding back, youâll know when the time is right.
And that time was right now.
âIâm gonna head inside and grab another water, do you want anything?â
âI think Iâm okay. Thank you though,â you barely acknowledged the exchange, wrapped up in finding the perfect movie to watch as you scrolled through all the streaming services. Today, the most simply normal day was about to be extraordinary and his feet couldnât carry him inside fast enough to grab the ring.
His heart was beating in his ears walking back outside. He clears his throat to get your attention and the look on his face makes you stand. âWhat happened?â
âI spent so long trying to create the perfect moment. But I just realized that every moment with you is perfect.â
Your voice catches in your throat and youâre forced to speak in a hushed tone. âWhat are you doing?â
He takes a deep breath, holding the box firmly in his hand. âI love you. Youâre the one I want to build a home with, create a family with, grow old with and everything in between that this life has to offer. Iâm sorry it took me so long, that I spent so much time trying to capture some picturesque scene that weâll remember forever. You and I, right here is memorable. Being with you is all Iâve ever need, all Iâll ever need. For the rest of my life.â He opens the box and you audibly gasp, everything in your body tingling and buzzing with excitement. Everything made sense now, his nerves, the secrecyâŚeverything. He was trying to make all of your dreams come true.
Holding your hand in one and the box in the other, he gets down on one knee. âWill you make me the happiest man in the world, will you marry me?â
âYes,â you respond immediately, sounding out of breath while wiping a tear from your eye. âA thousand times yes, of course Iâll marry you!â Sliding the ring that fits exactly like it was tailored to your finger, he stands up and wraps his arms around you, a small tear escaping him.
Justin kisses you, a passionate deep kiss, relieved that everything had gone even better than heâd imagined, pulling you in so close that you can feel his steady heartbeat. His movements were long and slow, a slight grin against your lips as you give into belonging to each other. Lost in paradise he leaned his forehead against yours, both of your eyes still closed in awe that this actually just happened.
âHereâs to a lifetime of perfect moments and sometimes the best plan is no plan. I love you Justin, this is amazing I couldnât ask for anything more incredible.â You pulled away, opening your eyes to look at your hand. âAnd this ring? Youâre crazy.â
âI am crazy. Crazy about you,â he kisses you on the forehead, running his hand across your fingers. âI love you so much, fiancĂŠe.â

Yeessss we love a refill. đ
(LOLL girl no worries. You strike me as a fun drunk. Plus, the other night I had one strong glass of wine and that somehow did me in for the night. I guess that's what I get for trying a "Super Tuscan" red. đđ)
Aww you're amazing. Thank you so much, my friend!! 𼚠And best believe, I saw you released two parts of a new Russell story and they're already bookmarked in my TBR. đđ
Now, on to the rest of your lovely comments on the ESC finale!
Loved that little moment of jealousy there. How do you like tasting your own medicine, Russ? đ
Right?! Lmao all that Reenie teasing coming to bite him in the ass.
I absolutely loved their pizza and movie date at home. And they already shared so much with each other 𼚠The fact he felt secure enough to open up to her after this short amount of time says a lot, considering Dory hasn't even told her the story yet. I love them đđ¤
Aw I'm so glad you loved it! I felt like they needed something low-key that allowed them to reconnect and be there for each other after all the chaos. I debated if having Russ open up like this was too soon, but since she was so honest with him about her past trauma, I thought he would feel that kindred spirit connection, enough to be honest himself.
I haven't forgotten about the "oh, my brother thought I killed our dad" part of the story though. đđ When I eventually write another story for this series, I want to incorporate that reveal somehow when we finally dive into Ashton Shaw in the show. (Maybe I'll read ahead in the books. đ)
Honestly, in this day and age, it's always best to wait for renewed consent (even though I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have minded in the least lol). Loved that he recognized that and hesitated!
Right? đ Exactly what I was thinking in having him hesitate, even though you're right, she would NOT have minded. đ I still thought that little moment of her pulling him down to join her was needed. đ
Poor girl đđ The morning after is always a tad awkward â especially if everything is still in the balance of will they/won't they and nothing *sexual* has happened yet đ
LOL exactly. It's a bit of an odd situation all around, even though they've already shared some romantic moments. đ
đ
Absolutely adored this exchange! â¤ď¸ Oooof, and that smut may have been my undoing for tonight! Holy hell!!! đŽâđ¨đĽđśď¸
Ahaha I had to research bullet sizes and everything. đâ¤ď¸âđĽ
Honestly I'm really flattered you enjoyed the steamy parts, because I feel like smut writing is my weakest link, though I do my best. đ
đ You write it so well, so that's an extra special compliment coming from you!
Again, she's so cute đđ¤ I do hope they work something out. I don't think Russell would've necessarily taken the "big" step, knowing her feelings on this, if he hadn't planned to try and make it work somehow â¤ď¸
Lolll she's trying her best to be slick! đ Yeah, I think Russell already knew his connection with her was different, and worth pursuing, he just wasn't sure about the reality of how it was going to work until this moment. đ
Perfect ending, friend đĽšđ (You know I love a bit of drama and angst in an ending lol) I loved this series so goddamn much! It fit so well with every character and gave so much that the show didn't (like that awesome family reunion of the three Shaws). Can't wait to get into the one-shots over the holidays đ
Aww thank you! I wanted to be realistic with his lifestyle potentially posing a problem, but at the same time, both of them being willing to figure it out and try to make this work. đ
I so appreciate you for saying that ESC felt authentic within the Tracker world, because that's something I always try to do, but it was challenging with this new show/world and how much we still don't know about the Shaw family. (But I HAD to include that reunion. đĽš)
I so hope you enjoy the little bonus one-shots whenever you get to them!!
Merry Christmas, my friend!!! I hope you and your family are having so much fun. â¤ď¸â¤ď¸

Part 5: âDamn Worth Itâ
You borrowed Russellâs cell to call Dory from the hospital. You let her know that Charlie was stable and resting, and that Russell was bringing you home.
You shouldâve known that when you two got there, you wouldnât have the kind of privacy you craved. Colter and Dory were waiting in his car, parked in your driveway. They met you in front of your house, where Dory pulled you into a big, swaying hug. She cried, you cried, and her brothers hung back to watch the warm scene.
Dory pulled back to get a better look at you. She hesitated to touch the bandage above your brow.
âGod. Are you okay?â she asked.
âYeah, IâmâŚIâm fine,â you sniffed, wiping at your face. âCome on, letâs go inside.â
Dory actually had your keys. After she handed them to you, you took in a steadying breath, and you unlocked your front door without incident this time. You invited everyone in.
Even though you told her not to, Dory began straightening up a bit for you. She had Russell take out the trash while she washed the dishes.
Meanwhile, you pulled Colter aside in the living room. You led him to sit with you on the couch.
âCan I at least give you $1,000?â you asked. It was all you had left in your savings, but the man had literally saved your brother's life, and yours as well. âI know itâs not much, compared to what your jobs usually get youââ
âPlease,â Colter said. He touched your arm. âDonât worry about it. Iâm just glad you and Charlie are safe.â
You teared up all over again, but you gave him a smile and held his hand with both of yours.
âThank you,â you said.
Russell happened to spot the cozy little scene from the doorway. He couldnât help staring, and trying not to frown.
When Colter caught sight of his brother loitering (and that look on his face), Colter tried to hide most of his smile. He let go of your hand, patted your shoulder and stood. You followed him to the kitchen, where he went to check on Dory. Russell filtered in behind you both.
âHey, wanna grab some lunch?â Colter asked his sister.
She gave him a raised brow. âWow, my brother actually wants to hang out with me instead of rushing off to the next job?â
He gave her an amused look. âIâve got some time.â
Dory was happy to hear that, but her expression dimmed when she turned to you.
âWould you want to go? Or do you need to rest?â she asked.
âOh, I need to get cleaned up, and then sleep for about ten years,â you said. âBut you go, D. Have fun.â
She frowned. âI donât want to leave you here by yourself.â
âWell, she wonât be,â Russell chimed in. âIâm gonna hang out here for a bit, clean up and take little power nap myself.â
At that, Dory slowly smiled, both amused and suspicious. Her gaze slid back to you.
âAre you sure?â she asked. You read the double meaning laced in her tone.
âYeah, definitely,â you said with a smile, and the beginnings of a warm blush. âYou guys go ahead.â
There was a knowing gleam to her own smile, but Dory shrugged and gave you one last hug. She and Colter said their goodbyes to their older brother before they headed out. It left you alone in the house with Russell for the first time since this all began.
âUm, you can use the guest bathroom if you want to shower,â you told him. âTowels are under the sink, and feel free to borrow any of Charlieâs clothes if you need.â
âItâs okay, Iâve got a bag in the car with some stuff,â Russell said, tossing a thumb over his shoulder. âI take one wherever I go.â
âSmart,â you nodded. âVery prepared.â
A strange silence stretched between you two, until you couldnât take it anymore.
âIâm justâŚgonna go clean up,â you said. âWe can order some food after?â
âYeah, sounds good,â he said. He was amused as he watched you scurry off, after giving him another smile over your shoulder.
Though heâd be lying if he said he didnât feel a small trill of nerves himself. It brought him a little bounce in his step as he headed out to his car to grab his stuff.
By the time you were done showering and drying your hair, Russell had ordered a pizza (and a side of fries). You padded out into the living room in an old college shirt and pajama shorts. He tried not to linger his gaze on your smooth, bare legs.Â
âSorry, forgot to ask if youâd want something else to eat,â he said.Â
âPizza is perfect,â you said. At this point, after almost a full day without food, youâd eat sliced bread out of the bag. You gave him a teasing look. âIâd ask you if you wanted a beer, but Iâm afraid itâs not up to your standard.â
âWell, thatâs okay. I happen to have brought a sample for you, just like I promised,â he said, with that grin of his youâd come to expect.
He retrieved a case of homebrew from his car, but you had to add some ice cubes into a tall glass before you joined him back on the couch. You poured the contents of a bottle into the glass.
âSorry, I know this is sacrilege, but I canât drink warm beer,â you said.
âI canât fault you, though I didnât really peg you for a pizza and beer kind of girl,â he said. He tipped a swig of beer into his mouth, right from a lukewarm bottle. He was a purist.
You quirked a brow at him and took another bite of your pizza slice.Â
âWhy not?â you asked, after swallowing a mouthful of pepperoni and mushroom.
Russell shrugged. âNever mind. Forget I said anything.â
âNo, no. I want to hear this,â you said. âWhat, because I teach college students?â
Russell looked over at you and leaned on his elbow, resting above his knee.Â
âYouâre a college professor with a handful of degrees,â he said. âIâve got a GED and a give âem hell outlook on life.â
You shook your head at that.Â
âWeâre different. Thatâs not a bad thing,â you said. âAnd like my brother, youâve fought for this country. Youâve saved lives, including mine. Iâd say thatâs pretty damn special.â
His head tilted at that. He didnât want to remind you that, just like you saw today, heâd taken lives too. Perhaps just as many as heâd saved. You could debate the quality of those lives, but in the grand scheme of things, he knew what he was. A trained killer.
He rolled his shoulders, feeling a familiar weight.
You didnât like the pensive look on his face, so you aimed to distract him.
âWant to watch a movie?â you suggested.
Russell inclined his head. âSure. What you got?â
That was how the two of you ended up finishing the box of pizza and a case of beer while laughing at Tommy Boy, of all thingsâone of the best '90s buddy road trip comedies of all time. Apparently Russell had never seen it before, but you enjoyed watching him experience it for the first time. He had a deep, infectious laugh that made you laugh just by proximity.Â
Later in the movie, the reluctant, unlikely duo of Tommy and Richard hit a deer, and tried to transport it in the car. Russell both laughed and cringed when the animal woke up and thoroughly wrecked the car from the inside. You noticed his reaction and nudged him in the arm.Â
Russell held in a grunt of pain when you unintentionally hit his injured shoulder, bandaged underneath his gray henley.Â
âWhat if that was the Chevelle,â you teased.Â
He cast you a playfully chiding look. âWoman, donât even joke.â
You laughed and squeezed his forearm in a friendly gesture. But he thought there was more than just friendliness when you shot him that little smile. He decided to take a chance.Â
âCome âere,â he said. He slid a hand around your waist and guided you closer until you came to lay against his side. You allowed yourself to rest against him, splaying your hand flat against the firm wall of his chest. Your heart tripped up faster, but you also relaxed more fully for the first time since you got home. You let out a long breath, and you used the remote to lower the volume on the movie a little.
âDo you think Charlie will be able to get past this?â you asked quietly. âThink heâll be okay?â
Russell hummed as he thought back to his conversation with your brother in the hospital. Charlie was still young, but he seemed to realize what heâd done, and what he needed to change. He wouldnât have volunteered himself for rehab if he hadnât.
Russell brushed your arm with his thumb. âWell, I think he knows what he needs to do. If heâs anything like you, then heâll be all right.â
Your mouth tugged upward, though you considered his words with a sigh.
âHe hasnât had it easy,â you said. âHe was barely eighteen when our parents died. Suddenly he had to be an adult. In fact, he almost didnât finish high school. Had to take care of the funeral, had to get a job, had to take care of meâŚand I didnât always make it easy on him.â
Russellâs lips curved in light of your faint smile. Then, your expression dimmed.
âHe pulled me out of the car,â you admitted. Russell looked down at you.
âYou all were there?â he asked.Â
âMy dad was driving. Weâd just gone out to dinner as a family,â you said.
You hesitated as the scenes once again filtered through your mind. Some things were hazy. Others, you could see with perfect clarity. You remembered how your parents argued about the best way to get home while the pouring rain beat down overhead, half-drowning out their voices.
You remembered what the flash of a red stoplight looked like through the car window, with streams of water coming down, and a dead leaf stuck to the glass.
You remembered the sound of horns blaring in your ears, the crunch of metal on metal. Your motherâs scream. The feeling of being suspended, and then ricocheted painfully through time and space.
Then the smell of exhaust, and the metallic tang of blood.
âWe were heading through a terrible storm,â you said, after letting out a long breath through your nose. âBy the end of the night, it was just me and Charlie in the hospital.â
Heâd broken his arm, but thanks to him, the only thing you really walked away with were a few cuts and bruises, and the memories of that day. They were like old scars, painful and tender at the touch.
Russell shook his head, his brows knitting together. âIâm sorry.â
âYeah,â you breathed. âAnd Iâm sorry too. I know you understand what itâs like to lose a parent.â
The movie played on as that new weight settled between you. Russell fell into his own thoughts as he continued to rub your arm in comfort. His own past wasnât like yours, but he did understand some of your pain.
âHow much did Dory tell you about how we grew up?â he asked.
You shifted a bit, so you could see his face too.
âI know your dad took you all to a cabin in some sort of compound in the woods, when you all were still pretty young.â
âHe taught us to live off the land. Drilled us, really,â Russell explained, noting your raised brows. âYeah, he wasâŚwell, a paranoid bastard, to be frank. We still donât know all of why, and what drove him to move us out there.â
âDory said he wasâŚeccentric,â you said. Russell snorted.
âHe was a piece of fucking work,â he said. âHalf the time I hated him, if Iâm honest.â
That part was hard to admit, even if it was true. Your hand soothed across his chest, more comforting as you listened. Russellâs lips quirked. He liked that about you, that you were willing to listen without judging him, or his family. Maybe that was another reason Dory seemed to love you so much.
âBut one night, it was like he snapped,â he said.
For a moment, he was lost in the memory. His fatherâs anger, and the damn crazy look in his eyes.Â
âWhat happened?â you asked quietly.
Russell glanced at you again. âI donât think you wanna hear this right now.â
You shook your head. âNo, I do.â
He hesitated, but that earnest look in your eyes got him. Still, he surprised himself when he actually told you. He explained it the best he could, the way he saw it in his mindâs eye.
Their mom had been missing, hadnât come home yet. Then his dad had torn around the house like a man possessed, until he told them it was time to leave for their own safety. Dory had been scared, especially when he grabbed her, yelled at her.
That was the one thing Russell couldnât tolerate. So he snapped, yanking the older man back and shoving him away. It was one of the first times Russell had ever defied his father.
Ashton Shaw left them then, heading out into the night and the rain. Maybe heâd realized what he was doing to his own kids, his own family.
Colter wanted to follow after him, but Russell stopped him. Being the eldest, he took on the responsibility, even if heâd been reluctant. Weâre better off without himâŚ
He was barely sixteen at the time, but Russell knew heâd seen his father arguing with someoneâa man heâd seen before, talking with his mother. And thenâŚ
âI watched him die that night,â Russell said.
Your hand clenched in his shirt, reminding him that you were still in his arms, still listening. He remembered that scene, looking over the cliff to find his fatherâs broken body down below.Â
âHe fell, and I couldnât stop it,â he said. âAnd to this day, I still donât know what all that was about.â
Heâd been reluctant to tell even Colter that it still haunted him sometimes; that night, and the not knowing.
You pulled yourself up further so you could meet Russellâs gaze.
âIâm so sorry,â you said.
The movie had long faded into the background, but at least it gave some white noise for the next heavy beat that passed between you two. His eyes eventually fell away from yours.
âItâs old history,â Russell said at last.
âItâs not just history,â you denied softly. âItâs your life.â
He didnât know what to say to that, so he just hummed in agreement. He encouraged you to relax against him again, with a warm hand on your back. You settled and released another contented sigh. Even though Russellâs story weighed on your heart, you did feel closer to him. It made you feel like you understood Dory better too, and even Colter.
Russell rubbed your arm. âYou doinâ okay? Youâve had a long day.â
âDay and night,â you agreed. Your eyes closed against your will. âBut, yeahâŚI think Iâm okay now.â
At that, he smiled. He laid a kiss on your forehead.
âGood,â he said.
A few minutes later, Russell heard your soft, deeper breaths in sleep. He chanced grabbing a throw blanket laid over the back of the couch. He managed to toss it over your body, but he made sure it covered you. You shifted in your sleep and curled up more comfortably against him.Â
Russell smiled down on you fondly. Heâd learned a hell of a lot more about you in just the past couple of days, but ever since he met you, heâd been picking up on the important things. The things that made you the woman you were.
And he wanted more, he realized. He wanted more time with you.
That turned out to be the last real thought he had before his eyes closed on him too.Â
Russell didnât wake again until the credits on the movie were rolling near the end. You were still knocked out. So he carried you, blanket and all, over to your bedroom.
He smelled the remnants of your floral shampoo and body wash in the air, likely coming from the bathroom. It was an intoxicating mix, one that had infiltrated his nose ever since you came out of the shower today.Â
It was only 6:00 p.m., but it might as well have been midnight. He laid you down toward the middle of the bed. There was still space on the other side. Very tempting.
She did offer, he thought, remembering what youâd said at the hospital. And yet, he hesitated.
Before he could make a decision, you made it for him. Your hand reached out to hook in his shirt.Â
Russell looked down at your sleepy smile.Â
âGet over here,â you said, tugging him downward. He chuckled and wrapped his hand around yours. He allowed you to guide him over, and he somehow managed to roll onto the other side of the bed without crushing you.Â
âReflexes like a cat, I tell ya,â he quipped.
You giggled softly. He took off his first layer of defense (his pants), leaving him in his henley and boxer briefs. He settled into bed behind you and slipped an arm around your waist. He fit in snug against your back.
âMmm,â he sighed. His lips pressed behind your ear, smiling there. âFeels nice.âÂ
âMhmm,â you agreed.
He couldnât see your smile, but you held his arm in place. For the first time in a while, you werenât alone.
In the early morning, you woke up to warmth and closeness. The man in your bed snored lightly, mouth parted in sleep while he faced you. You smiled.
How could a man who felt dangerous, in more ways than one, also make you feel safe? It was a wonder. Though when an idea hit you, you carefully slid out of bed.
Russell eventually roused in his own time. He blinked awake, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He stretched out his limbs in your very comfortable bed. This sure beat rusty motel springs.
He realized that he was alone in the room, but he heard you puttering around the house. He allowed himself to doze some more.
A few minutes later, you returned to greet him with a couple of mugs, drawing him back into the waking world with the rich smell of coffee.
âAww yeah, thatâs the stuff,â he said. He groaned as he slowly sat up.
You laughed and sat beside him on the edge of the bed. âGood morning.â
âMorning,â he said. His voice was deeper and rougher with sleep, washing down your spine pleasantly.
He accepted the mug you offered him. He took a sip and hummed in pleasure at its bold flavor. It wasnât as sweet as he usually liked it, but it was exactly what he needed right now.
âI just did a little sugar and creamer. That okay?â you asked.Â
âItâs good,â he nodded. And you looked good, he noticed, with your bed-tousled hair and an open robe over your tank top and little shorts. Â
âDo you want to meet Dory and Colter for breakfast?â you asked. âDory texted me this morning.â
Russellâs brows shot up.Â
âColt stuck around?â he asked.
âYeah, Dory asked him to stay at her place last night,â you said. Russell hummed in response.Â
A bit of an awkward lull fell between you. Youâd felt bolder yesterday in the hospital, but now, you werenât entirely sure what you were doing with a man who just slept somewhat-but-not-altogether platonically in your bed.
âUm, Iâll justâŚget ready then,â you said, pointing to the bathroom. âYouâŚtake your time.â
He cleared his throat. âUh, yeah.â
He peeled back the covers and climbed out of your bed, away from the sheets that smelled like you.Â
You watched him go when he headed across the hall back to Charlieâs room. You sighed and beat your hand against your own forehead in frustration. What the hell am I doing?
Youâd literally invited him into your bed last night, but he hadnât done anything more than hold you while you slept. It was incredibly kind, and it said a lot about him, despite his rough-around-the-edges exterior. You were just a little disappointed that heâd been a perfect gentleman about it all.Â
You rolled your eyes at yourself. What did that say about you?
You shook your head and resolved to freshen up. There was still a cut that the ER nurse covered with a butterfly bandage above your brow. You cleaned it up and applied a new bandage. Then you put on some makeup to cover the ugly bruise on your cheek and the dark circles that lingered under your eyes.
God, look at me. You actually wouldnât blame Russell for not being into you enough to make a move.Â
A bit disheartened, you changed out of your pajamas to slip on a nice, but comfortable dress over your bra and underwear. Afterward, you paused to stare at yourself in the mirror for a moment. What exactly do you want here?
âHey, uhââ Russellâs voice startled you, making you flinch. Maybe you were still jumpy.
He raised an apologetic hand. âSorry. Just thought Iâd ask if you want some toast or something. I donât think my stomach can wait âtil we meet up with Dory.â
You smiled faintly. âSure, go ahead. Whateverâs there, youâre welcome to.â
Russell paused, tilting his head. There was something off with you. He saw it, and felt it.Â
âHey, you okay?â he asked.Â
âYeah,â you said, glancing away.Â
Russellâs spidey senses began to tingle. He approached you and laid a hand on the counter, inches from yours.Â
âYou sure?â he said. He took in your hesitant face, then the pretty dress you had on. The color matched your eyes. Soulful eyes.
He smiled when you let him see them again.
âCan you see the bruises? I think I covered them up well enough,â you said. You turned to look at yourself in the mirror again, touching your jaw carefully.Â
Russellâs hand raised to find your cheek, earning your attention with wider eyes. His thumb swept across your skin as you started to blush.
âYouâre beautiful,â he said with a smile. âDonât you worry about that.â
Your face warmed further, despite your smile.Â
âYeah, the makeup helps,â you quipped.Â
âI didnât say anything about makeup,â he replied. Though he grinned and made a show of looking closer at your face. âAlthough, have your lashes always been that damn long?â
You laughed, but he didnât let go of you. Instead, his hand drifted down to your neck, cradling your jaw. His thumb brushed over your lower lip this time, smudging your lipstick a little. Your eyes met his, but theyâd already lowered, to the path of his hand. You were tempted to nip at his thumb, or better yet, suck it into your mouth.
Perhaps he read the thought crossing your face. Because when those darkened eyes flicked up to yours, he finally bowed his head to kiss you.
You took in a deep breath, and you melted into his mouth with a moan of wanting. A craving from the depths of your heart, finally being fulfilled.
You didnât let yourself think anymore. You gripped the front of his shirt and pulled him closer. He cupped the back of your head, tangling his fingers into your hair as he deepened the kiss. His tongue invaded your mouth, and you let him in. You met his every kiss with the same fervor, claiming him right back, demanding just as much.
Your hands slid up his chest and helped him shrug off the green jacket first, then his shirt (Led Zeppelin this time). He hooked an arm around your waist and brought you flush against him, so he could turn you around and walk you back to the bed.Â
You clung to his bare shoulders and savored the feeling of his warm, calloused hands burning up your thighs and ass, bunching the skirt of your dress. You helped him get it over your head and toss it onto the floor along with his clothes.Â
As he held you by the waist, his gaze dipped for a moment to take you in, from bare thighs and hips and lacy panties, all the way up to your breasts cupped in your bra. Through panting breaths, you smiled and blushed at the heated depths of his green eyes. You felt like your heart was beating in and out of rhythm. Â
But you managed to get a hold of your nerves long enough to drag your hands down his chest, down to his belt. You unclipped it for him and took your time in sliding the entire belt out of its loops. Then you let the brown leather fall to the floor.Â
Russell raised a brow at you, smiling. Taking your challenge for what it was, he unbuttoned his jeans himself and aimed to step out of them, but he had some trouble when one of the pant legs got caught around his ankle and sock-covered foot.
âShit,â he muttered as he stumbled a little. âHold on.â
Unable to help a small giggle, you grabbed his left arm to help steady him. He hissed in pain, but he cleared his throat to cover it. You gasped as you realized what youâd done. You noticed then that he had a bandage tightly wrapped above his elbow, right below one of his tattoos.
âWhatâs this?â you asked in concern. You held his arm with both hands. âDid you get shot? Did you get this looked at when we were at the hospital?â
Russell staved off your questions with a gentle hand on your shoulder.
âItâs okay. This is old, just still healing up,â he said.Â
You frowned up at him. âYou got stabbed, shot, what? When did this happen? I thought you worked in private security.â
âA couple months ago. I got, uh, grazed. Donât worry about it,â he said. âSometimes the job gets a bit dicey.â
He could tell though, that you werenât going to let it go easily.Â
âLet me see,â you said, trying to peek under the bandage. Russell laughed and gathered you into his arms to stop your attempts. Your concern warmed him, but it wasnât necessary.Â
âIâm fine, sweetheart. I promise. Can we focus on the fun part, here?â he said.
Your brows furrowed. You opened your mouth to reply, but Russell saw the testiness in your eyes. He dipped down to kiss you, swallowing whatever snippy remark you were about to make.
You werenât the only one giving into a craving here. Russellâs was bone-deep, molten in his blood, and getting to see you, to feel your soft body under his hands was already so much better than heâd imagined. His hold tightened on your waist, his fingers pressing into your skin.
A shudder ran up your spine at his touch. You circled your arms around his neck and let him continue ravishing you, then laying you down onto the bed.Â
While you were careful about avoiding the bandage, your hand did drift down his arm, and further still, to palm at the straining bulge pressing against you. And Jesus Christ, did it feel generous. He grunted at your touch and paused with his lips against your jaw.Â
âWell hey there, cowboy,â you said, adopting a more sensuous tone. âI had a feeling youâd be packing. Whatâs that, a .45, or a 38 Special?â
Russellâs eyes blinked wide. Then he erupted with deep laughter that made his shoulders shake. Aside from throwing a punch, your brother mustâve taught you something about guns too.Â
âWell thank you, kindly,â Russell said, putting on a bit of a southern drawl, just to tease you. âBut youâre about to find out, naughty girl.â
You giggled as he began to kiss your neck, languid and sloppy. He blazed a wet trail down the column of your throat and between your breasts. His beard rasping against your skin made you shudder a little, but it wasnât unpleasant. In fact, you quite liked that a lot.
He slipped a hand underneath you to unclip the black lace. You arched into him so he had easier access.Â
He slid the bra from your body and tossed it somewhere behind him. Just as heâd imagined, you had beautiful tits. His lips explored each of them in turn, squeezing supple flesh and rolling your sensitive, hardened nipples with his tongue and fingers.Â
It was a prequel, you thought, for what talents that mouth might have further down. You had to moan just at the idea, your fingers clenching in his hair, but also at the sensations he was drawing from your body wherever he touched. The man clearly knew what he was doing.
He traveled lower still and laid slow, occasionally nipping kisses across your stomach, hips and thighs. His fingers hooked around your panties and lowered them down your legs. You felt his warm breath panting against your thigh. You glanced down at him and tensed in anticipation.Â
âStill good?â he checked, squeezing your hip. You smiled and reached for his hand. Russell gave it to you, brushing his thumb over the back of your hand in affection.Â
âI think Iâm about to be,â you said cheekily.
He smirked. His other hand smoothed up the inside of your thigh and slipped past your folds, finding wetness that already coated his digits.
âGoddamn. Youâre soaked,â he said, just a hint teasing. âBet if I put my mouth on you, youâd fuckinâ drown me.â
Again, he stopped whatever smart quip you were about to levy at him next when his fingers found your clit. You let out a gasping moan instead.
He decided that he already loved that sound. He endeavored to pull it from you, again and again when he began working you open with his fingers and pumping them inside you. He enjoyed seeing you writhe and arch against his hand. Your hands squeezed his arms, his shoulders, trying to anchor yourself. Â
His thumb circled and strummed your clit in a rhythm only he could hear in his head, until you couldnât help biting your nails into his shoulders when you came. You shuddered your release as your core throbbed with warmth and slick around his fingers.Â
âFuck, thatâs my girl,â he said. His voice rasped deep with arousal. âWouldnât even mind if you did drown me.âÂ
You huffed in response, unable to form speech just now.
Next time, Russell thought. He slipped his fingers out of you and licked them clean, making your eyes widen. He smirked and stroked your thigh as you came down, a shuddering mess.
After taking a second to regain your breath, you pulled him down for a kiss, both grateful and fueled by a passion you couldnât put into words. What you felt for this man was instinctual, from the moment you saw him. And yet, it was also so much more. It was raw, and real, and maybe even beautiful.
The thought spurred you on as your hands moved with purpose down his body. Your nails caught at the waistband of his boxer briefs as you tried to roll them down. You got it halfway down his thighs, enough to let his hardened length spring free. You bit your lip at the mere sight of him. Goddamn.
Your hand slid around his cock, near its weeping head. You used the beads of wetness there to work your way smoothly down to its base. Russellâs body tensed above you, just before he groaned low in pleasure.  Â
You pushed at his chest to have him let you up.Â
âYour turn, baby,â you said. It would be one hell of a challenge to get your mouth down that beautiful 44 Magnum, but you were more than willing to try.
To your surprise, Russell shook his head and guided you back down.
âLetâs pin that one for next time too. Wanna be inside you already,â he said.
You blinked, but then you nodded in breathless agreement. He kissed you deeply, devouring you with his teeth grazing your bottom lip. His tongue soon slipped out to soothe it.  Â
âCondom?â he panted, between kisses.Â
âOh, yeah. UmâŚbathroom, bottom drawer,â you whispered, though you werenât sure why you were whispering.Â
âOkay, two seconds,â he said.
He left you in the bed, quite literally hot and bothered, and very naked. You crossed your arms over your breasts on reflex while you tried to recover. Your core was still tingling, and your heart was beating fast, though you couldnât stamp out the smile forming on your face.Â
You heard the sound of foil unwrapping and clothed rustling. When he came back to the bedroom, you finally got a full picture of what you were in for. You unconsciously licked your lips as your gaze dipped down his body, and the indeed impressive package at full mast, and full display.Â
A grin curved his lips when he caught you staring. He climbed back onto the bed with just a bit of struggle with all the blankets coiled about. He pushed a heavy blanket out of his way, accidentally shoving it to the floor.
âBack to business,â he said.
âOh, yeah,â you agreed, and you welcomed him back, sliding your hands up his arms and shoulders. You hooked your thigh around his hip as he found his way back between your legs. Holding his bearded face in your hands, you pulled him in for another kiss that reignited you both.Â
He sunk his hand into your hair and treated you to another slow, deep kiss. Until your thigh tightening around his hip urged him to satisfy what you both had been wanting and waiting for.
He grabbed your thighs and angled you higher. Then he lined himself up at your entrance. Looking into your eyes, your breaths mingling together, he sheathed himself a little at a time. A keening moan fell from your lips.
He started with shallow thrusts, giving you time to adjust. But that in itself was a torturous tease. It made the coil in your lower belly start to tighten again. Pleasure began to thrum inside you, ever slowly. Your head tipped back into the pillows with a gasp. Â
âGod, Russell, please,â you uttered. You squeezed his arms on reflex, your heels digging into his ass.Â
âI know, baby. Gonna fucking wreck you, I promise,â he said with a grin.Â
You huffed in amusement. That was a hefty promise.
Though a moan tore from your throat when he finally bottomed out, stretching your inner walls. He groaned along with you. His lips fastened to your neck as he gave you deeper thrusts.
âYou feel so good,â you said raggedly in his ear, raking your fingers through his hair. You felt every damn inch of him.
âYou too, baby. So damn good,â he gritted out. âTell me what you want.â
He raised your thigh a bit higher, his fingers pressing into flesh.
âUgh, fuck,â you gasped, as he hit a particularly delicious angle. âWhatever you want to give me.â
âYou sure about that?â Russell asked, panting against your neck. Your nails dragged down his back between the muscles in his shoulders, hard enough to earn a halting groan from him.
You nodded emphatically. âYes!â
His lips hinted at a smile. âOkay, hold on."
Before you could even respond, he pulled out of you all the way, just so he could guide you over onto your stomach. He pulled you up onto your hands and knees. As he ran a hand down the gentle slope of your back and around the curve of your ass, you breathed harder in anticipation.
âSo damn beautiful,â he muttered.
You glanced at him over your shoulder. You unconsciously bit your lip as your heart couldnât help but swell at his words. Russell met you with a look that betrayed his desire, making your lower belly tremble as well.
He parted your cheeks and slotted himself between your thighs from behind. You once again felt the head of his cock nudging at your entrance, and then pushing back in with one deep plunge. Both of you let out moans of relief at the feeling. Â
Pretty soon, he was pounding into you deeper and faster than before. Oh, fuck yesâŚ
You clawed at the headboard, trying to find something to keep you stable. Russellâs arm slid around you for a solid support. You held onto him right back with one hand while he continued to drive into you, earning each and every sound coming out of your mouth. Heâd finally angled you just right, so he could hit that special spot inside you with every thrust. Your pussy clenched on him in response, making him grunt in pleasure.Â
âFuck, youâre close. I can fuckinâ feel it,â he said, panting. He laid a biting kiss where your neck met your shoulder. You cried out in both pain and pleasure, your inner walls once again squeezing on him.Â
âYeah,â you nodded, breathless. âThis time, youâre gonna come with me.â
You reached back and tangled your fingers into his hair. He held you to his chest and squeezed your breast a bit roughly. You uttered a wanton sound. You dragged his hand down your body to part your folds. You used his fingers to press against your clit.Â
He picked up your hint, and then took control, massaging you with his fingers. There you began to tremble from the inside out. Warmth emanated from your core and spread outward, down to your toes as you came even harder on his cock.Â
Russell wasnât far behind. His voice joined yours as his body locked up, and he spilled hot into the condom. You almost wished heâd come freely inside you, so you could really feel him. Regardless, your body was boneless when he lowered you down onto the bed afterward.
âHoly shit,â you breathed.
He chuckled and kissed your shoulder, before he fully pulled out. Panting for breath though you both were, you managed to twist onto your side and reach a hand for his cheek. Your fingers slipped higher from there, cupping the back of his neck. Your thumb swept tenderly across his cheek, and you guided him down for a proper kiss.
Russell obliged you, his lips meeting yours plush and wet. He brushed strands of your sweaty hair away from your forehead with affection.
Somehow, that last kiss was softer than all the rest.
One thing was for sure though. There was no way you two were making it to breakfast.Â
âI kind of feel bad now,â you later confessed.Â
You and Russell were taking a few minutes just to recover under the messy sheets. He held you while sitting up against your headboard. He almost craved a smoke. Youâd given him a damn workout.Â
He smirked at the thought. Admittedly, his mind was more on focused on the scenes replaying in his head than on what you were saying.Â
âDory doesnât get to see you guys that often,â you continued, âand who knows how long Colter will seriously wait for us to get out of bed.â
Russellâs attention drifted back to you at that.
âCome on, itâs not like they know why weâre running late,â he said. You gave him a knowing look.Â
âAre you kidding? They were already suspicious when you brought me home yesterday,â you replied with a laugh.Â
Russell grinned and rubbed your arm. He knew you were probably right, but he couldnât bring himself to care.Â
âYeah, well. That was damn worth it,â he said.
You smiled. You rolled your head over on his shoulder, so you could see his face, but you became contemplative as uncertainty crept in. You let in a breath to gather your courage, and you decided to take a chance.Â
âYou know, drug dealers aside, Laramie isnât such a bad place to live,â you pointed out. âWeâve got a movie theater, a couple good outlet malls, a new Tex-Mex restaurant that just opened down the street. Iâm gonna have to find a new bar though.â
Russell smiled at you. He knew what you were suggesting.
He sighed as his amusement faded.Â
âLook, even if I stayâŚâ he hesitated.
He looked into your eyes and saw the vulnerability there. You were being honest with him, putting your heart into his hands. The least he could do was be honest. He covered your hand where it rested on his chest.
âIf Iâm on a job, I could be gone weeks at a time. I wonât be able to tell you where I am or what Iâm doing. Thatâs gonna be hard on you,â he said.Â
He knew his friend Doug made it work with his wife, but their relationship wasnât without friction because of the job he and Russell shared.
âI can handle it,â you said firmly.Â
âYou just had a little freak out over a scratch earlier,â Russell pointed out, with a gesturing hand at his bandaged arm.Â
âOkay, thatâs different,â you said.
You wouldnât say it now, but there were things that still concerned you about his job. You had a strong feeling that "private security" wasnât all it entailed. However, after what heâd done for you, after what heâd done for Charlie, you knew that Russell Shaw was a good man.
There was something good here, and you didnât want to lose it this time. You shifted in his arms, so you could face him.
âLook, we can sit down and figure all that out,â you said. âBut do you want to at least try? OrâŚam I reading this wrong?â
Russell stared back at you ruefully. He raised a hand to touch your cheek, grazing your soft skin with his fingers.Â
âNo, youâre not,â he said.Â
In fact, what he felt already ran deeper with you than heâd like to admit. He let out a long breath through his nose.Â
âOkay,â he said at last. âIf weâre gonna do this, letâs do it right, I guess. Iâll book a motel here in town for now. If things go well, I canâŚI donât know, find an apartment.â
Your answering smile broke him down further, even as it warmed him inside. You turned over to circle your arms around his neck, and as an added bonus, pressing your bare breasts against his chest. You kissed his cheek with a happy hum. He laughed at your enthusiasm. He also accepted your sweet path of kisses that led to his lips.Â
He groaned when it became not so sweet, with your tongue slipping hotly against his. His hold on your hips tightened.
âUh oh. Baby, we canât do this now,â he chuckled, even though your hand was already wandering down his body and under the sheets. You both were supposed to be getting ready to meet his brother and sister for lunch.Â
âFive minutes,â you said against his lips. All the while, you were pushing him back onto the bed. You began to kiss down his chest, and lower still.  Â
Russell snorted. Right.Â
But he wasnât about to argue with you. He had a gut feelingâŚone that made him almost certain.
Heâd found where he wanted to be.Â

Hola~ I saw somewhere with someone asking how I have the energy for these comics or to draw in general.
I don't. However!
I like to at least sketch one page in the morning and then one in the evening. I used to blow through it all in one day one sitting, but then that lead to a quick burn out and not getting the rest done.
So if anything, the morning/evening is a new thing I'm trying. And then overall, it's just also because I love to draw.
And then, one final quick note that I have for myself if anyone is interested: draw ugly
If I can at least get the stick figures down, then it's one progressive step to the vision I have.
This is probably the closest example I have of a full process (minus the detailed stuff of course) first I make a very rough sketch, and then clean up and then attempt to color. Really my challenge at the moment is anatomy and coloring without greyscaling it all the time or something.
Another example, this is a modern AU of college student Lux crushing on Actress Jinx and have a chance meeting at Starbucks at the campus. Why is Jinx there? To visit the theatre program at the campus and etc etc, I haven't really thought out the whole thing, just really wanted to draw this little moment.
But so far this is what I mean by draw ugly because I really struggled to make even at least 3 pages for it.
I hope that helps for anyone, I'm really determined to master drawing out comics now too, the next challenge would be putting color to it. Thanks for reading!

Merry Christmas, Ace
Summary: You and Ace enjoy the morning of your first Christmas married.
Note: I hope you all enjoyed these Christmas themed fics! :) I'm taking a break until the new year, so I'll see you guys then! đ Small note warning for pregnancy but that's it. :)
Ace has this unfounded fear that one day, heâs going to wake up and youâll be gone. He worries youâll decide you donât want to he with him anymore, too much emotional baggage and daddy issues with your husband to bother anymore, and youâll just up and leave him someday. He knows itâs silly, you wouldnât have married him if you were going to leave so easily, youâve told him that before when heâs spoken this worry to you.
Still though, itâs always there when he wakes in the morning, even on Christmas when he sees you still fast asleep beside him, breathing a sigh of relief to see you. He stays and watches you sleep for a few minutes, still unable to believe this is real and you married him.
Youâre really the best thing in his life, apart from his brothers of course.
On days like today, where he wakes before you, Ace will stay up and watch you sleep for a bit, sometimes he thinks youâll wake up and be weirded out by it, but when heâs woken up to you do the same, or kissing his freckles to wake him, he thinks you probably donât mind if he watches you for a few minutes. Especially so when you do wake up, seeing Ace wide awake, and giving him a sleepy smile that he returns before you throw an arm across his chest and bury your face in his neck, making him laugh.
âGood morning, [Y/N].â
âGâmorningâŚâ Smiling again, you place a kiss on Aceâs cheek, âMerry Christmas~â
âMerry Christmas, babe. Wanna get up and open gifts?â
âMmâŚsure!â
You both still take a bit to get all together, itâs just the two of you this morning, Luffy and Sabo will come by later for the rest of the holiday and their own gifts from you. Its nice to have them come by often, for Ace to see his brothers whenever he can. Luffy and Sabo have already spent many nights in your house having sleepovers, they wants things to stay as normal as they can now that you two are married and you donât mind when they stay over, so long as the three brothers arenât loud.
Once youâve gotten up and to your living room, though itâs not a lot, you and Ace go back and forth with the few gifts youâve gotten each other. Its mostly clothing items youâve both wanted and a few fun things like games, but itâs still nice to know you both pay attention to what the other wants or needs, youâre grateful that Ace pays attention to you.
âWell,â Ace sighs and brings you over to him, kissing the top of your head, âGuess we gotta clean up before Sabo and Luffy get here.â
âMm-hm,â When Ace moves to get up, you stop him with a smile, âActuallyâŚI have one more gift for you.â
âWhat? What do you mean?â
Ace is confused while you reach over the end of the couch, pulling out another rectangular box and passing it over to him once you sit back down. Heâs not sure what youâve done, but the label that reads âTo: Daddy, From: Mommyâ makes his breath catch in his throat as he snaps his head over to you.
âAreâŚwhatâŚyouâreââ
âYou should open it, Ace.â
The grin you have while Ace looks from you to the gift and back with wide eyes makes his heart rate pick up, especially with the tears he can see forming in your eyes when he finally opens it. He starts to tear up too, seeing an ultrasound image, baby onesies, and the positive pregnancy test in the box.
âAre, are you,â heâs trying so hard not to cry but Ace starts to pull you closer to him, bringing you into his lap, âAre you sure? YouâreâŚyouâre pregnant?â
âMm-hm,â you wrap your arms around his neck and let Ace bury his face in your shoulder, you know heâs happy just in shock, âWhen I had the flu earlier this month and went to the doctor, he ran several tests to figure out what was making me so sick and, well, it was the flu but also our baby. I was going to wait for your birthday next week to tell youâŚbut I just couldnât anymore.â
You let him have the few minutes he needs to let the information settle, but once it does, Ace quickly stands up still holding you, and spins you just a bit with a laugh before setting you down. He takes your face in his hands, grinning away as he rubs his nose against yours before kissing you. Its unexpected, youâve not even been married a year, but heâs just so happy.
âA baby! Our baby!! This isâŚthis is the best gift ever!â
Ace hugs you tight while you let out a relieved breath, glad heâs happy about your pregnancy and that youâll be parents in a few months. You know heâll want to know more later, like your due date and anything your doctor told you, but for now, youâll enjoy the happiness radiating off him as he holds you, and how you spend the rest of your morning lying on the couch with Ace wrapped around your middle, his head against your stomach as he tries to talk to your baby already, telling them heâs excited to meet them, how Luffy and Sabo will be happy too, and youâll be the best mom ever, heâs sure of it.
You hug Ace close to you, kissing the top of his head and smiling away yourself.
âMerry Christmas, Ace.â
