Here's something you don't see everyday!

Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary has a daily show where they feed the Wild Eels that live in the water adjacent to the sanctuary.

They would stomp their feet along the shore and a dozen of eels would come right up for a snack. It was crazy and super interesting.

well birders, i figured we would have to have this conversation at some point... i AM ready to come back! (things are finally calming down in my life) BUT i'm realizing that the level of detail i was drawing birds at was not conducive to running a DAILY account. so unfortunately i have to ask you guys........... if i lowered the level of detail and started drawing more like i normally do, is that cool with you guys? i don't want to kill the love of this account by suddenly changing stuff, but i wanna know what you guys think! i've included a little mockup of the red-breasted nuthatch as an example :0)

I'm not great at bird ID but I am truly bad at bugs. Hover? Flower? Almost certainly some kind of fly, northeastern Illinois. @onenicebugperday ?? (Oooo thanks, got a reply! Per them, it is actually a sand loving wasp in the genus Tachytes 🥹)

Is this the third time I've posted a picture of this frog on a lily pad? Yes. Is it slightly different than the last two, but it's still the same frog and lily? Yes. Do I care? No. I just thought it was neat. Me and Marge Simpson, shaking hands while she's holding a potato and I'm holding this frog and lily.

tbh I think the most long term thing people need to do is socialize more across age groups. There's just so many takes that only make sense if you spend all day with people who are both politically and generationally aligned, you lose the history you need to learn from to get what you want across the line.
