The new Noxus trailer has me so excited for the continuation of Mel's story. Secret hope is that they don't mention Viktor at all and only bring up Jayce as like. The dead wife tragic backstory trope. His entire purpose for the rest of the arcane universe is to be one of the people Mel mentions when the music gets melancholic and she talks about everyone she's lost. 2025 the year of Mel, I'm manifesting that now.

Saw this discussion in the jayvik tag and wanted to wade in:

I think the larger problem with the "Viktor is ace!" "Ace people can still like sex/romance!" discourse is that the Viktor-being-ace bit hit a lot of people, myself included, as a kneejerk reaction from CL to try and kibosh any and all mention of there being ~something more~ between the two. It was treated as a "gotcha" in a way that implies CL doesn't have a good understanding of aspec identities, and I think a lot of people had very strong reactions to that; so in an attempt to counter what feels like bad faith stereotyping, the pendulum gets swung too far back the other direction with the unfortunate side effect of making it seem like everyone participating believes that ALL aspec folks can, or even should, also participate in sexual or romantic relationships. I think if he'd said "hey it's cool you see it that way, our intent was to have V be aroace with no interest in sexual or romantic relationships because that is criminally underrepresented in media" (which is true), there would have been a very different reaction. There were two missing elements: an expression or acknowledgement of deeper understanding of aspec identities, and a willingness to accept that creative intent doesn't somehow trump or disenfranchise how your audience receives it. He missed on both, so now we are here.

I agree with the valid criticisms of what Linke did. I don't think he actually knows the difference between asexual and aromantic. Based on what he said, he just asked around about which orientation was underrepresented anyways and he seem to have gone into this with minimal research, which made this maybe well intentioned attempt at ace representation turn into a shitshow. Because I agree with him in viewing Jayvik as a platonic ship gives the dynamic a fresh spin. I believe he actually intended to make Viktor aroace, but it was kind of a shitty move to reveal this as a way of bashing all the other interpretations, which made a lot of people perceive it as homophobic as this was done in response to shippers.

People are also upset with the stereotypical implications Viktor being ace implies, such as making disabled characters ace which makes them seem devoid of sexuality.

That being said, I think a lot of people have lost the plot too because Linke is now being accused with being ableist, homophobic and aphobic a lot more than what's proportional. I've seen people say he only made Viktor asexual because he is disabled and "robotic", because he saw Viktor as undesirable and quite inhuman. These are bullshit takes and people are pulling them out of nowhere imo. I have never seen anything suggesting Linke viewing Viktor's disability as something negative. Calling him a robot is outright wrong too because he got merged with the arcane, he didn't robotise himself like in the games. So none of these really contribute to Viktor's "negative" representation. Also, Linke could very well be homophobic but it kinda doesn't seem quite anormal for creators to talk about the intended details in the show after the show is over, so I don't think he did that reveal at a very odd point. Which now got me wondering aside from giving the homophobic fans the excuse to bash Jayvik shippers, whether we jumped the gun on calling him homophobic too.

I also agree with how the reactions would be a lot better if Linke handled the creative intent speech a lot better, but I'm not sure if it still would've made stop everyone from saying "hey even if he is asexual he can still have sex with Jayce" because this is just what shipping culture is like. As I've talked about it on the previous ask, people LOVE shipping, and they make aspec characters a part of this phenomenon regardless of how their sexual or romantic desires are presented in the source material.

Overall I agree with what you're saying though. Thank you for your insight.

I know I'm a little late to the party, meant to make this post yesterday but here we are. It's Arcane season at last baby!!! We've waited years for this and I know we're all excited but a few things to keep in mind for my page specifically.

1. I profoundly apologize to anyone who follows me for any other content it will simply be Arcane from now until probably into next year. I fully understand if you mute or unfollow me because of it.

2. We all know Netflix is being a massive cunt with password sharing so not everyone has access to the show. PLEASE TAG YOUR SPOILERS.

3. Please everyone be civil when discussing the very heavy themes involved in this show. If you cannot behave yourself in my comments and reblogs you will get blocked. End of discussion.

4. Just a few opinions I have specifically...I don't much care for Silco. I think his relationship with Jinx is very manipulative and creepy so keep that in mind if you choose to follow me. If you really like their relationship I'm probably going to make you mad. In addition Vi hate will not be tolerated. I know the shallow stupid opinions alot of you have about her character. Believe me I'm going to be fairly critical with how the series handles her transition (and hopefully later opposition) to being an enforcer as well as the revolutionary writing in general. But get your season 1 takes out of my face. Vi did not create Jinx. Stop it. Mel, Ambessa, Sevika, or Ekko hate will also NOT be tolerated. If you bring your racism and antiblackness to my discussions you will be blocked and reported. You have been warned.

5. As I mentioned above I will be fairly critical of how this season handles its political writing. I love Caitvi I do. They actually mean quite alot to me but I'll likely be the hardest on Cait this season. Speaking as an American there are alot of bad things going on here that she specifically represents and I'm hopeful and curious as to how the writing team chooses to handle her.

Other than that welcome to the discussion! I'll be watching the new season as soon as I'm able and I'm sure will be putting my rambling on here as I think of them. I've watched season one an ungodly amount of times I'm sure this season will be no different. I hope Netflix does these characters justice and I hope anyone who is new to this amazing series feels welcome and safe on my page to discuss. Let's fucking go!!!

Allright. Now that everything's over...I have some new rules. The above rules still stand but...tbh I really really hated that season. I think this goes without saying...but do not steal my fanfics. Do not steal my ideas do not steal my drabbles. I will delete them if I see this happening again. The fuck?? 😤

What's been your biggest learning point this past year?

Well, getting back into writing, for one, and (painfully) (re)learning that writing is hard. Yeah yeah I know it's my hobby and I love all those little freaks in my head, but for it to be good and satisfying, the exercise of writing really requires - for me - a structure and organisation that I hadn't really anticipated the importance of (and still haven't mastered 🫡)

also learning to accept the compliments and love (see question below :))

How has your writing developed this past year?

I focused more on writing *like me* and less trying to imitate others. It's been quite challenging, since there's always a part of me that finds other authors' styles better, more unique, or just overall nicer - and I often find myself wanting to emulate that.

But I've also learned to read, accept and really integrate all the lovely compliments that I've received on my different works, and that tremendously helped me to feel proud of my "style", which was lovingly described as "romantic and whimsical". And you know what? I like it :)

Bad writing habits?

I'm a terrible procrastinator. I spend 90% of the time daydreaming and 10% actually sitting down to write + if I get thrown off-schedule for whatever reason, it can take me weeks to get back into it. But if I don't write for an extended period of time, I tend to spiral and feel like I cannot do it anymore. So yeah, inconsistency is a big one. Add overthinking to the mix and, uh. Not exactly an ideal combination.

I’ll add that, although it isn’t exactly a bad habit, I write terribly, terribly slowly. I wish I didn’t, but it’s the one thing in my life (along with not being a morning person no matter how hard I try to re-wire my brain) that annoys me the most, and yet I am unable to change. 🐌

Fic you took the most time on: forbidden fire, between the initial concept, planning the outline, writing and editing... it's taking for everrr - and especially the current chapter 5, which is taking 3 months to come out and for what 😭

Fic you took the least time on: heavy heart, although it's starting to add up!

Favourite thing you wrote?

Ohhhh. Oh. It's hard to say! I think wild winds are death to the candle, because it was my come-back to writing fanfiction and I'm really proud of the care i put into it! I also loved the first salty interaction between Tav and Rolan. Pure spite, zero braincells.

Favourite fics you read this year?

Wayyyyy too many! I've read more fanfics this year than ever before, for so many different characters as well, mostly the BG3 characters and Jayce/Viktor from Arcane. Unfortunately I haven't always been diligent in my AO3 bookmarks and overall it's really hard to make a choice - but I had started to compile a list of my fav Rolan x Tav works, I should post it :)

If I had to choose right now, from the top of my head, I'd say:

As well as Convergence for the Arcane fandom <3

All these works have been absolute game-changers in my approach to writing, to universe-, characters- and plot-building, and I hold these works very, very dear to my heart (and I have to catch up quite a few chapters actually!)

Biggest win?

I'll steal @forget-me-maybe's words: finding my little space and community in the big bad world. These communities have been an incredible safe space for me, to explore my love for the characters, and to feel like I was part of something. 2024 has been a year of big personal changes and development and getting to find comfort and joy here has helped me in ways I cannot really put into words.

Shoutout especially to Rolan Nation because it was (is?) such a small community and it was so lovely to watch it grow and interact with wonderful people. ❤️

Finding other people who cared as much about my beloved characters has truly been a heartwarming experience. I don't often get to feel like I'm part of something, but this year, I did :)

(Writing) goals for 2025:

finish forbidden fire AND resuming the two-weeks posting schedule. I've accumulated a lot of delay but I care for it so much and I absolutely want to see it through, hopefully it'll be done by spring or early summer!

finish heavy heart: I only have two more chapters planned so this shouldn't be too much of a problem ;)

stealing word for word from dear @purpleasters-inseptember, writing a few one-shots to practice a shorter word count, but also exploring different and more characters

in the same fashion, exploring more tropes that I like

it's not a writing goal but I really, reaaaaally want to begin drawing. I so want to join in and show you all my ocs!! :)

New works for 2025:

a gale x tav fic (and hopefully an astarion x tav too) as little snippets of their adventures together

some more viktor x reader/oc and jayvik x reader/oc

and we'll leave it at that because... that's already a lot haha

Okok so like I love many characters in reverse 1999 (looking at you medpoc, 6, and horro), and so I got an amazing fanfic with horropedia that I would like to share!!!

But here's a few things I wanna say b4 you read it. Reader works at laplace (ofc because i love laplace) and sometimes they deliver samples to the foundation, and since reader wears a little charm of ghost face's mask on their ID card thingie, so horro noticed a horror genre lover! Now lets start!!!

After working on an important vaccine for the foundation for quite a while, you're finally done with it! Only took 3 weeks.... But it's for an important cost! Healing the sick little children in the school of the foundation is really important for the future of arcane and St. Pavlov...

After grabbing all of your things and securing the vaccines into the case, you get up out of you lab and start to walk toward the foundation. During the walk there you see Mesmer Jr. working on the artificial somnambulism project, as usual, Ms. Sotheby with Matilda just going around looking for something you suppose, and Sonetto going to Madam Z's office.

It wasn't long until you reach Constantine's office to deliver the samples to her. You and her only had a brief discussion about the vaccines before you left her office and began to walk back to Laplace.... Before a certain nerd came your way.

" Is that charm on your ID the exclusive glow in the dark ghost face mask? I got the same one back at home!"

" Huh.... Oh wait, yeah, it is."

You say, which you gotta admit, you were a bit baffled at first.

" Who are you again?"

" We haven't met but my names Horropedia"

" But your ID tag says Joshu-"

Before you finished your sentence he interrupted you.

" Shush! I would rather be called Horropedia then....that name"

" Oh....okay"

He took a good look at your name tag again and then smiled

" [Y/N] is your name? Hm.."

You nod in reply to his question.

"Anyways, since you're obviously a horror fan like me how about we exchange numbers? So that we can talk about the horror genre"

He said in a very happy tone, which made you feel bad if you deny so you gave him you number....despite not knowing much about the genre.

After that interraction, you awkwardly waddled away..... Great, now a random horror fanatic has your number.

Despite not knowing much about horror, Horropedia still talked to you as you learned more and more about the horror genre. Which you got to admit, the horror movies, shows, games etc, are actually pretty good, so now you understand why hes practically in love with it.

So one day while giving some samples to Constantine for medicine pocket because they were to busy to do so, so you did so. It doesnt hurt to help a colleague.

As you were coming back from her office, got a sense of deja vu, before you see Horropedia coming up to you with a big smile.

" Ah, the 'great' [Y/N]! Its been awhile since we met outside of our messages! How have you been?"

That's why you felt deja vu....

" Oh, hello jo- Horropedia, I've been alright, just busy with work. The usual, what about you?"

" Works been...work.. But I have a crazy proposal, what about you come over to my place for a horror movie marathon! We can just relax and watch as many horror movies before we ultimately fall asleep from the exhaustion, how does that sound?!"

That doesnt sound too bad really, it's just basically like a sleepover...hm..

"I mean, I'm free today and tomorrow, sure, why not?"

You could see his smile brighten immediately.

" Alright, I'll send you my address, and oh! I can show you my collection, I have many things like Jason's masks, and believe me, they are as freaky like in the movies!"

You smile and then nod.

" Sounds cool.... Well I'm going to go, I'll stop by after work, see you"

You say before leaving to go back to Laplace, to which he just waves bye. The way to Laplace was relatively quiet, except for the occasional footsteps of workers walking around the buildings.

Once you made it to your lab you began to work on your remaining work, which wasnt alot, you only had to write the rest of your progress report on the serum you're making.

As you work on it, the only things you can hear is the tapping on your keyboard, your breathing, and the occasional sounds of you pulling out notes. After a little bit you finally finish up your progress report, phew. You save it and then turn off the computer. Then you check your phone, might as well see where Horropedia lives so you can go home, grab your things, and then go over to his home.

He actually lives quite close to your house, atleast less of a walk there. You packed up all your things before going to his house.

When you got there you had to knock at the door three times before he finally answered. When you saw him you immediately noticed he was in more casual clothes, his hair being pulled back by two hair clips, him wearing a horror shirt, and......some monster slippers? They looked goofy as hell, so of course you chuckled a bit when you saw them.

" Hey [Y/N]! Welcome, here you can take a seat at the couch"

He said while letting you in. The house itself was small, enough for one person, and their dog.

" Cute dog"

You said while petting the little guy.

" Thanks! Anyways do you want anything to drink or to snack on?"

You nod while telling him your desired drink/snack..

You look around his living room to see alot of posters and other items that are horror related, like a mini nightmare on elm street poster, the Jason masks he mentioned prior, and a few other nice things. You also notice a dog bed near the yellow recliner chair.

He gave you the drink/snack you asked for and the sat down in his chair while crossing his legs.

" So, what's your favorite horror movie? I think we should start with that so I can judge if you have good taste in movies or not..."

He said in a casual tone, but it kinda felt like he was criticizing you....

" Oh uhm....Well I enjoy the house of 1000 corpses...."

He auditablely gasped at that.

" Seriously? I barely hear anyone talk about that movie anymore! It's a gem for sure!"

" Really? If I'm being honest it's one of my favorite movies..."

" Heh, well I can't wait to see what else you like"

He said while turning on the movie.

" I haven't watched this one in a long while"

You nod in reply.

The movie and snacks were really nice, all you both did was watch movies, eat snacks, and once you both were so sleepy and exhausted, fell asleep on the couch. He fell asleep in his recliner chair and you fell asleep on the couch, which was oddly comfortable.

Once dayrise came you woke up to the sunlight going straight into your eyeballs. When you sit and and stretch, you notice that Horropedia was still asleep, his glasses on the table next to his chair. You gotta admit though, Horropedia without glasses was a little cute, especially with his freckles more noticable because of his glasses frames not in the way. You yawn once again and then got up to go to the bathroom and change into your other pair of clothes you brought.

After you were done you noticed that Horropedia was now awake and was rubbing his eyes.

" Good morning....Hmm... Oh do you want to have breakfast with bloody horror movies on? It's definitely a stimulating appetizer"

He just wakes up and wants to immediately talk and watch horror.

" Hm... I mean sure, never tried it but I'm always up to new things"

" Great! Now, I'm sorry but I want to have pancakes today, hope you don't mind"

" I don't mind"

" Great, I'm going to stay cooking them"

He said while going into his kitchen and starting to cook the pancakes he mentioned earlier...

After a few minutes they are done! They smell delicious. He brings you a plate of pancakes to you, they also look delicious. While he was putting on the horror movie, you put some syrup on your pancakes, which you notice that the syrup is red colored, you don't mind, it's kinda funny though.

The pancakes themself was good, and the horror movies with it, ten times better. Though after that it wasn't long before you went home.

You gotta admit the movie marathon was fun, you and horropedia should have one every so often.

You and horropedia actually started to have more sleepovers after that, some you and him would just watch movies, some you and him gossiped about the foundation and Laplace, and some you and him just hung out doing things you both love. Sometimes too you and him would tire yourselves out so much that you and him would accidentally cuddle on the couch, mainly in uncomfortable positions but....who cares.

Currently Reading:

I'm not in the middle of anything, but I've read more in recent weeks than I have in a long time. (Well, technically I'm in the middle of Solomon's Ransom by Corey Kerr, because I read the sample and now am waiting for the book to be released in a few weeks.)

Several months ago I got from the (physical!) library a (physical!) copy of She Who Became the Sun by Shelly Parker-Chan, and I finally finished after the semester ended, and then found an ebook of the sequel, He Who Drowned the World. (Compelling, though I think the ambitiousness of the project inevitably meant that parts of it didn't quite work.)

Then I read a bunch of romance ebooks, and even found a m/f one that I liked! Jodi McAlister's Not Here To Make Friends. (It was also the reality dating show romance I had been low-key hoping would exist.)

I also read RF Kuang's Babel: An Arcane History (which I appreciated and was provoked by, but didn't exactly love), and then read that she was inspired by/responding to Donna Tartt's The Secret History, so I reread that. (When I read it years ago my reaction was, I'm too old for this. It felt like a book you need to read in your teens or early twenties to get swept up into. My thoughts this go around were pretty much the same.) Then Kuang's Yellowface, which was also compelling.

Speaking of enemies to lovers, quite enjoyed The Sorcerer's Omega, also by Corey Kerr, which is why I'm awaiting her latest release. (The other two books in that world are also good, just not catnip for my tastes in the same way.)

And your post reminded me—I too read Love in the Big City, which was good and also unsettling in that way of most autobiographical novels about the authors fucked up twenties. Now I can go and unblock the tag and see all the fascinating discussions y'all had in your book club.

I have no idea how they'll manage to turn it into a BL (which is what I think I read is happening?). Although it's about relationships it's very much not a romance. Are they just pulling out some random plot points and building a whole new story around them? I hope they don't try to smush it into BL shape at all, and just tell the narrator's melancholy story as written.

(Oh, technically I'm in the middle of Mari Kondo's The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, but I'm not sure if I'll read any more. Other people's advice can be counterproductive at times.)

(Most most recently was a bunch of Untamed and Drarry fanfic, but I'm not counting that.)

There are many reasons why Caleb was so hesitant to take on a position at the Solstryce Academy, but one he had not considered before starting was the time it would demand from him. So much of his spare hours are now spent grading papers and reviewing his students' research proposals, and it leaves him little room for his own intellectual pursuits. Helping shape the minds of the next generation of arcanists is no small thing, to be sure, but still, reading another ten page treatise on the various practical uses of the Blink spell, none of which meet any kind of basic ethical standard, when he could be reading the notes on his latest chronurgical experiment that his Kryn friend left the last time he was here is so much to ask of a man.

It is especially cruel on the rare afternoons that said Kryn friend is actually able to stop by for a visit. Caleb is well aware that each one is a risk to Essek, that he puts his very life on the line in order to spend even a few hours with Caleb in Rexxentrum, and Caleb tries so very hard not to read anything into that. Instead, he compares arcane notes with him, their spellbooks passed back and forth like notes in a classroom, scribbles down Essek's suggestions for improvement on his Web of Fire in the margins as onion and garlic sizzle on the stove in preparation for the maultaschen he's making for their dinner.

Once they've eaten, though, he must focus once again on his professorial duties, and so Essek sprawls out on the couch in his room in the tower, flipping through the reading Caleb will be assigning in class next week, while Caleb is bent over a desk, exhaustedly underlining areas for improvement in each essay. He works until the candle drips low, until Essek murmurs, "Caleb Widogast, you need to rest."

There are four more papers left to grade. "I'm almost done, ja? And then we will discuss ways to increase the effective time of that Temporal Shunt spell."

"You are going to pass out on top of your work. You need not stay awake on my account."

Caleb frowns at him over his shoulder. "Quite the assumption, freund. I have so little time with you; how am I to get our important work done when you disappear in the morning like a ghost?"

"You are being dramatic." He extends a hand toward Caleb, the myriad of rings on his fingers glinting in the flickering fire lit by a spectral cat hours ago. "Come. I don't mind letting you sleep on me."

Oh, what unholy temptation. There are four more papers left to grade. From here, Caleb can smell the air in Eiselcross still on Essek's skin. "Just a cat nap, liebling," he murmurs, pushing back from the desk to stand.

"Of course." Essek's hand beckons him closer, a siren upon the rocks.

"I'm serious. Twenty minutes, then you wake me."

"It is a promise, Caleb Widogast." Essek presses himself into the back of the couch, allowing room for Caleb to slide beside him, to nestle his head atop Essek's arm.

"Twenty minutes." His eyes slide closed. It has been quite a long day.

"Twenty minutes." And Caleb knows, as he quickly slips under, that he will not wake again until morning.

Last Line of WIP

Ok @amaiguri I see I see, hmmm... I have a lot I could pull from on this so I'll drop a couple for fun.

“We are aware that the pendants have an arcane quality to them, more so than a normal spectral bane charm.”

This line comes from a new flash fiction related to LENS. It should also be the first actual appearance of The Queen of Embers in any of my work so look forward to that.

I wring my hands together nervously. "I don't… I would rather have some amount of dignity when I face Alexander again."

And this is from my next chapter of What Makes a Seeker. Very excited about this one as it's Alexander's full introduction to the story. We got a little bit of him in the last Luctine Archives but things are quite different by now.

I'm not quite sure who to tag in response to this though. I might be a bit of a dead end for now on tagging chain things! At least till I get more used to here, sorry!

Daughter of the Void (Pt. 6)

“Finley! I'm so sorry- I- I would've told you I was leaving but- we had to get moving fairly quickly- didn't want the bodies getting- er- bloated-” Cori said, eyes drifting to look at her feet.

She felt like a child being scolded by her parents, of course being scolded when she was younger usually just meant harder training exercises. . .

“Well I suppose you had to get real world experience somehow, and who's this you have with you?” Finley raised an eyebrow as he gazed down toward Apollo, who's haunches were raised, teeth just barely visible in the beginnings of a growl.

“This- oh! This is Apollo, I found him in Westfall,” Cori said, smiling.

Finley looked less than impressed, in fact he rather looked like he might strangle the creature if they had been alone.

“Well- given how long it took you to realize that, shockingly, being at war means fringe groups will return to power- you've missed out on quite a lot of your training, I can't imagine those whispers have gotten any quieter,” Finley said.

Cori thought for a moment- she actually hadn't noticed the whispers in quite some time, perhaps too busy with her new adventuring party, but now that she wasn't busy with that, she could feel them clawing back up the recesses of her psyche.

“I- I guess so- are you busy at all today?” She asked, halfway hoping he would be too busy to see just how neglectful she'd been of her training.

“Fortunately no, so I suppose I'll see you by the lake once you get out of your adventuring gear?” He phrased it as though she had a choice in the matter, and her answer was a simple nod.

Oddly enough, training seemed easier that day than she'd expected. She floated on the surface of the lake, eyes closed, Apollo treading water just nearby as her hand rested on the soft fur of his head.

The visions she received were far less convincing than usual, they promised a family, as they always had, but something about it just seemed. . . Off, at this point.

“Well- I think that's enough for today,” Finley's voice sounded strained, like a barely contained explosion rising up from the inside of a volcano.

“I'm not sure how much more I can teach you, really, you seem to be able to ignore the voice fairly well on your own by now,” he said, gathering his things and stalking off.

Cori didn't bother to follow him, she wasn't quite sure she wanted to.

Yet somehow, she still felt as if she were being watched. . .

“Well Apollo, if we're done here we might as well head to the stables and get you a nice collar,” Apollo pulled up onto the shoreline and shook himself off, Cori using the hood of her new cape to cover her face from the splash.

Stormwind had quite a lot of options for dressing up your pets, from collars to bows to matching armor. But Cori hadn't come for anything special, all she needed was a little leather collar with a name tag attached, and that was enough.

Given that without training she had quite a lot of extra time on her hands, Cori decided to take a look around the many other parts of Stormwind that she hadn't quite gotten around to yet, starting with the Mage Quarter.

She'd always wondered what it would be like to use magic, the arcane seemed like such a fascinating force to reckon with.

She found a situated spot outside the Blue Recluse, watching the local mages in training fire spells back and forth with each other.

Then there was an unexpected commotion- Cori felt a twinge in the back of her skull as one of the practicing mages burst into a cloud of smoke, which dissipated to reveal some sort of beast- a dragon of some kind, she realized.

She took up her bow and arrows as the other mages struggled with the creature, firing a shot that seemed to teem with arcane energy.

Apollo let out a snarl, charging for the creature's legs with teeth bared and claws poised for slashing.

She hadn't even realized it, but Cori's arrows had been firing with an arcane proficiency equivalent to a novice mage. Something she hadn't registered until the dragon lay slain on the grass, a smoking arrow stuck out from its chest.

“Who. . . Are you?” One of the mages asked, turning to her with a bewildered facial expression.

“Oh uhm- I- I'm sorry uh- my- my name is Cori,” Cori said sheepishly as she plucked her arrows out of the dragon's corpse.

“I've never seen spellwork like that- especially not with arrows as a focus. . .” Said one of the other mages, Cori felt her face flush.

The mage that had been teaching the group looked her up and down before speaking “your spell talent is about average for a beginner mage, but even that is impressive for someone so clearly trained in the art of the hunt, especially someone as young as you appear to be- have you considered taking up additional Mage training? You would make quite the combatant if you honed that skill,” Cori sputtered for a moment, not quite sure what she was meant to respond.

“I- uhm- my parents- my parents were hunters- so-” the mage teacher chuckled.

“I believe there is a very powerful mage set to arrive in Stormwind soon, many of my students are hopefuls for an apprenticeship with her, but perhaps you would like to join our ranks and see how you fair?” It would give her something to do, now that it seemed Finley wouldn't be training her.

So Cori nodded, what could it hurt? Broadening her horizons, and perhaps this great mage would be a better teacher than Finley had been.

Time would only tell, she supposed. . .

Caitlyn was not about to let Vi just walk off like that. Trying to convince her that they were so opposite. She ran after Vi and grabbed her by the elbow. "No. You don't get to say something like that and walk away. Not after everything we've been through together in just a matter of days." Vi turned around and stared at Caitlyn. Not quite sure how to react. The attraction had been there since day 1 and had only grown as Caitlyn saved Vi repeatedly. Not just from her physical injuries but the ones that she had always battled internally by herself. When she looked at Caitlyn, she saw a woman determined to prove a point. That in itself was absolutely terrifying.

Vi stared at Caitlyn - absolutely terrified but also hopeful that Caitlyn would not just let her walk way. Caitlyn made it very obvious to Vi that she would not get off easily.

"No. You don't get to call me 'Cupcake', allow me to save your life, and then throw me off to the side like I don't mean shit. That is not how this works." Caitlyn said while placing her hands on her hips. Vi could tell that Caitlyn was not having any of this. Caitlyn did what Vi did the first time they flirted and backed her against the wall. Her arm came up directly besides Vi's head. Vi froze instantly and focused directly on Caitlyn in hopes she could keep her cool and stop herself from panicking. Caitlyn immediately recognized the panic in Vi's eyes from being corned and winced. Caitlyn immediately dropped her arm from by Vi's head but didn't back away enough for Vi to try and walk off.

Vi stepped closer to Caitlyn and cupped her cheeks with her rough hands. "Caitlyn, I am no good for you. You know it. I know it. Hell even your parents and the council knows it."

Caitlyn glared at Vi. "I don't know why you think I give a damn about what other people think is best for me. I know you think I am just some spoiled topsider but believe it or not, I'd rather be with you in the undercity - hell anywhere with you - than be somewhere that I am never accepted for who I am or for how I act." Caitlyn said softly, now quickly avoiding Vi's soft look.

Caitlyn sighed and moved away from Vi's hold. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable - I just.. I don't want you to go." She whispered.

Vi was not used to kindness. She was not used to being chosen, especially not by someone so precious as Cupcake. Fuck it. Vi thought to herself and before she could talk herself out of it, she leaned up, placing her thumb and index finger below Caitlyn's chin and kissed Caitlyn softly. Vi still had not been 100% convinced that Caitlyn was into the female sex but she was definitely convinced now. Caitlyn kissed Vi back, gripping the sides of her tank top and made sounds that led to Vi losing any thoughts of trying to stay away. Vi turned Caitlyn around and backed her against a cement wall pressing herself against her and capturing her lips again, while Caitlyn buried her hands in Vi's hair. The rain continued to fall but they were both too distracted to care about the downpour. Their kissing became more hungry and it was no longer soft and careful. Vi slipped her tongue into Caitlyn's mouth and smiled as she murmured "I knew you would taste sweet, Cupcake."
