Summary:
Then someone new came along. Long after the encounters with death. Long after the obsession with words has settled in.
They had nothing to do with either of them, nor the daycare, and not even the other animatronics. Just a simple tour guide, bringing groups around place to place, with simple explanations, free goodies, and overly preppy cheer. It may have been in the job description, but they acted as if they were best friends with any animatronic they introduced – including them.
It felt wrong. It felt ugly. It felt as if the perfect smile on that face as they bestowed compliment after compliment on each tour was just that. Skin deep.

Are they as beautiful on the inside as they pretend to be on the outside?

A Moon centric horror story to celebrate spooky month/Halloween! Inspired by the song Bones by Will Wood and The Tapeworms. Enjoy!
⚠️ I do not condone this behavior! Check the tags before reading! This fic is heavily inspired by the song and leans into the anorexia and gruesome/literal aspects of its lyrics, if those subjects bother you please be careful as they're in this fic! ⚠️

I'm very excited to post this! I've been holding onto it for a while now and I'm very proud of it! ^^
I really did want to wait until further into October to post these, but with the chance of being out of power for 2 weeks due to back to back hurricanes, I figured it's best if I post this now rather than risk being late. It's still spooky month, and plenty of people can enjoy the spooks any time! <3
I love horror stories, so hopefully this unnerves some of y'all hehe >:)
And of course it's Moon centric, I've accepted my bias at this point.

🌲~ review of don't let the forest in by c.g. drews
4✨️
a perfect spooky read for fall, this was twisty and turny and threaded with dark fairytales and flower horror. i flew through this in two sittings, the story and macabre tone just perfect. it's fast paced and quick, a slip of a flower petal painted with blood.
i loved the psychological aspect of this and how it was well weaved into the plot, foreshadowing really did an amazing job here and the writing style was hauntingly beautiful, only accentuating the creepiness of this and the setting. i really found the book to read like a modern fairytale, similar structure and themes but also bringing in more recent touches, i half expected to see my arc turn into a leather bound edition and gilded title halfway through reading.
i loved the mc andrew and also thomas, their characterization being quite dynamic and i was heavily invested in them. the fairytale structure as i mentioned above only works in the characters favor, fitting them into static roles on page but still letting themselves develop past those and pull out a really fun twist i honestly only had inkling of...
as an aroace individual, i was estatic to see andrew as a fellow asexual and to watch his journey through self discovery and relationships. the actual romance section of the book is short, taking place mostly near the end but the pining and obsession starts out very early, giving you snippets of what's to come. it's not your usual ya romance, this one having a bit more of darker tones stitched through it, but still a lovely touch nonetheless.
don't let the forest in is a perfect tale of twisted fairytales and gorgeous prose, a lovely book to kick off the fall season. it comes out on october 29th, perfect for halloween!

a/n: here are all the Bucci gang asks from last Thurday’s Halloween headcanon ask game! I decided to compile them into one giant post bc... hoo boy... there were a lot. nonetheless, thanks for participating, friends! this was so much fun!! (also, side note, there are still a ton in my ask box. I’ll get to those sometime this week, so hang tight!)
tw: minor gore mention in Abbacchio and Fugo’s descriptions
❥ ┋ ❝ bucci gang & some misc. halloween headcanons!
bruno bucciarati.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
@buuni asked: ahhh the Halloween emoji game seems fun !! could I ask for Bruno 🍂 thank you !! And I hope you’re doing well this spooky season 🐇💕
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
participating in All Souls Day. although Bucciarati was raised Catholic, I don’t think he’d remain a practicing one. still, there’s something comforting about honoring the deceased. he’d tell you fun, little stories about his father and the kind of household Bucciarati was raised in. you can’t help but notice how happy he looks as he talks. how his eyes sparkle, that rare, genuine smile on his lips. at the end of the day, he tucks a chrysanthemum behind your ear and places a kiss on your temple. “I appreciate your patience, amore,” he hums, that smile still on his lips. “it means more to me than you’ll ever know.”
leone abbacchio.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
@heartsllabyul asked: OMGOMGOMG TOYAAAAAA 🍂🍿 with the loml leone abbacchio please 🥺
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
trying seasonal foods. Abbacchio finds a lot of it fascinating since “fall” isn’t really a season in Italy. it gets colder sure, but the culture around autumn isn’t nearly as big as it is in your country. he thinks a lot of autumn-based foods are odd. pumpkin spice anything tastes artificial to him, though he thinks butternut squash soup is decent. his favorite is spiked apple cider! but he’d never admit it. he thinks it’s entertaining watching you desperately search for some seasonal food that he’d like.
🍿 how they react to watching a horror movie
he doesn’t! Abbacchio doesn’t see the appeal behind horror movies. besides, his time as a police officer and mobster has made it difficult for him to see them as anything other than cheap entertainment. and that goes for slashers, psychological thrillers, and gorey flicks. despite all that, he’ll watch horror movies if you like them. he finds your interest endearing. he gets more embarrassed than he’d like to admit when you hold onto his arm as you watch.
giorno giovanna.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
anonymous: giorno + 🏠🍂? Abbababy Anon asked: Hmm hmm~ how about 🎃 for Fugo and Giorno?
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🏠 how they would react to being in a haunted house
pretty well! Giorno isn’t someone who scares easily. the most he’ll do is take a step back when something gets him. he keeps his fingers laced with yours, ready to advance (or abandon ship) whenever you’re ready.
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
watching meteor showers. autumn is an astronomy hot spot, an event that he would love to share with you. anything about life and human existence is a topic of interest of Giorno. how to preserve it, how to observe it. he’d happily share everything that he knows with you. Giorno would take you far away from the city, far enough for you to clearly see the night sky, and far enough to be completely alone. but once the meteor shower starts, strangely, he wouldn’t be watching what seems to be falling stars. no, his eyes would be locked on his other favorite spectacle: the person sitting right beside him.
🎃 how seriously they take carving pumpkins
not seriously, and he’s not a big fan of it. he hates scooping out the pumpkin’s guts to start carving. the wet and sticky texture, along with the smell... no thanks. he’d rather watch you do it. and once you’re finished, he’d be happy to sprinkle some cinnamon in so that the pumpkin smells more palatable once it’s lit.
guido mista.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
@zellyroo asked: 🍂 and 🎃 w/ mista please? 💛💛
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
Mista loves picking apples. it’s a laid-back activity with a high return rate. spending time with you and getting food while feeding the Pistols? count him in. plus, he loves feeling like the perfect boyfriend when he has to help you grab those hard-to-reach apples. and dear god, don’t get him started on apple cider donuts. oof. he could eat 10, easily.
🎃 how seriously they take carving pumpkins
very seriously. he’s seen so many cool designs, how hard can it be? Mista quickly learns, however, that carving pumpkins is quite difficult. you laugh when you hear him curse under his breath as he tries to cut through it. the Pistols bully him for his ugly design, but it’s hard to understand them when their mouths are stuffed with pumpkin seeds. Mista just tells them to shut it. in the end, he gives up on his elaborate design, opting for something more simple. after all, he hates anything that complicates his life (and boy, is this stupid pumpkin doing just that). it comes out like any other jack-o’-lantern.
narancia ghirga.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
anonymous asked: Hi; May I ask 🧙♀️ for Narancia, please? Thank you! :D 🧡
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🧙 if they would dress up & what they would dress as
it would take a little convincing to get Narancia to dress up. he really, really wants to do it, but he doesn’t want to come off as childish! you’d have to tell him that everyone in the U.S. dresses up on Halloween. but once he’s convinced, he’s convinced. he’d be bouncing a variety of ideas with you; he’d probably have a new one every hour. in the end, he’d settle on something spooky with you, like dressing up as zombies! (much to Fugo’s dismay.)
pannacotta fugo.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
anonymous asked: 🧟♂️ 🍂 for Fugo! Abbababy Anon asked: Hmm hmm~ how about 🎃 for Fugo and Giorno?
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🧟♂️ a non-serious fear that they have
zombies. the idea of a virus spreading, how it wrecks your immune system and makes you lose control of yourself... it reminds him too much of Purple Haze. on a less serious note, he just thinks they look gross. he’s seen his fair share of innards and bodily fluids during his time in Passione, but. still. eugh.
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
corn mazes, surprisingly! it was one of those things he thought was stupid at first, but loved once he was actually in one. the maze attendant gave you both a series of riddles mapped according to different intersections in the field. Fugo had a blast trying to figure it out; after all, it was just one giant puzzle. he had a smug look for the rest of the day once he found out that he beat Mista’s time.
🎃 how seriously they take carving pumpkins
too seriously for it to be fun. being raised in a demanding household has built him to be a huge perfectionist. carving pumpkins was something he thought would be really easy until he got to it himself. the pumpkin’s rind is so difficult to cut through that it makes his lines look jagged. and god, he was not expecting it to be so messy. Fugo had this elaborate design planned out, but once he finished, he ended up with a standard jack-o’-lantern face. you’ll have to remind him that it still looks great.
trish una.
╔ ——————————————— ╗
anonymous asked: 🍂 and 🎃 for trish?
╚ ——————————————— ╝
🍂 what their favorite fall activity is
getting fall-themed coffee, obviously! but not pumpkin spice lattes. god, no. Trish thinks they’re overdone. she’d rather go for anything with caramel and / or cinnamon. bonus points if it’s sugary (bitter coffee is only tolerable). she laughs when you get whipped cream stuck on your top lip, but her honey-sweet giggle is always followed by her swiping her thumb over your face. it’s a great excuse to touch you.
🎃 how seriously they take carving pumpkins
not too seriously. at least not initially. she sees it as another part of American culture that she doesn’t understand. but when she sees how much fun you’re having, she can’t help but get into it herself. it’s a fun past time, albeit difficult (who knew these gourds were so thick?). Trish makes it her personal goal to make her pumpkin look nicer than yours. although she’s unsuccessful in her endeavor, she’d admit that pumpkin carving was “just okay” — aka really fun.

“Much More to Movie Monsters Than Meets The Eye” By Raquel Stecher
With his latest book Fright Favorites: 31 Movies to Haunt Your Halloween and Beyond, author and horror expert David J. Skal provides readers with the perfect guide for watching spooky films throughout October and the year. The book takes a look at 31 different horror films from NOSFERATU (‘22) to GET OUT (2017). Skal offers insights into how German Expressionism and WWI influenced early horror classics, how Val Lewton threw out horror conventions with CAT PEOPLE (‘42), how DRACULA (‘31) was a financial gamble and how more recent films like HOCUS POCUS (‘93) achieved cult status. If you’re worried that 31 horror films are not enough, don’t despair, as each of these films is paired with a bonus recommendation on a similar theme. Fright Favorites is now available from Running Press and TCM.
Raquel Stecher: Can you tell us a bit about your background as a cultural historian and horror expert?
David J. Skal: I was one of the original “monster kids” of the 1950s and ‘60s, who discovered the old Universal horror classics when they were first released to television, and for a while I couldn’t get enough of them, or of the fan culture they set in motion. I was an avid reader of magazines like Famous Monsters of Filmland, and when I came back as an adult to write about the history of horror entertainment from an adult perspective, it would never have happened without those photo-filled periodicals that engaged and obsessed me as a kid.
RS: In the book you discuss the connection between Hollywood and Halloween. Tell us a little about how that came about and how the two have become so intrinsically tied with one another.
DJS: In the golden age of American horror movies in the 1930s and 1940s, there was no supplemental merchandizing or other tie-ins to Halloween. It was still a pretty homespun holiday. The holiday’s potential wasn’t fully exploited by the film industry until after World War II, when we saw Universal franchising its monster characters as Halloween masks and costumes. In the ensuing decades, October became the major month for horror movie premieres, including studios other than Universal, and all the major theme parks got on the bandwagon, profitably extending their summer seasons with Halloween nights that are almost always tied in to some horror franchise or another, frequently of the slasher or chainsaw variety.
RS: What was the research process like for writing Fright Favorites?
DJS: Over the years I’ve done much more research for my books than I’ve been able to ever use, so Fright Favorites was an ideal opportunity to make use of information and anecdotes I’d never had room for in previous projects. As a result, it took about six months rather than the usual full year I most often devote to completing a book. Although the final selections were mine, the people at TCM are also—no surprise—very knowledgeable about movies with many favorites of their own that I was able to incorporate. There weren’t really any disagreements, just a bit of a juggling act to maintain a balance between the films included.
RS: In the book you wrote “Some early commentators on the medium worried that film might be nothing less than the arrival of living death. It is in horror movies that this pervading sense of the uncanny still speaks to us.” Were studios worried about making horror films? How did Universal's success with the genre affect the film industry as a whole?
DJS: In a way, the film medium itself is the very definition of the uncanny, bringing dead actors back to life, or its convincing simulacrum. This strange fact is always there, staring back at you. And remember, actors themselves have amounted to a species of shapeshifters, slipping in and out of identities in the manner of movie monsters. Film is a dream-like medium that has been irresistibly drawn to the fantastic and the bizarre from its very beginning, at least in Europe. American movies didn’t approach truly fantastic subjects until Universal took a chance with DRACULA in 1931. Previously, American films observed the tradition of explaining away any ghostly occurrence as a criminal conspiracy or ruse. But DRACULA, along with FRANKENSTEIN the same year, became two of the most influential and imitated films of all time.
RS: Stars like Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Jr., Vincent Price, etc. became known for their horror roles. How did some of these horror stars embrace the genre or how did it typecast them?
DJS: By definition, any “horror star” is already typecast, although some deal with the pigeonholing better than others. I once had the privilege of sitting in on a classroom visit by Vincent Price with a group of acting students who asked him if he resented being considered a horror star and how they could avoid being typecast themselves. He told them in no uncertain terms that show business was already a difficult way to make a living and that being typecast would be the best thing that could ever happen to them professionally. Most horror stars I’ve met or interviewed are grateful for their fame and the attention of their fans.
RS: Many horror stories have been revisited in remakes, new adaptations and re-imaginings. Why has Hollywood been so keen to revisit horror classics?
DJS: Horror is a genre with financial profit baked in from the get-go—it’s almost impossible to lose money even on a poorly made scary movie, which is why so many prominent directors have gotten their start in the genre. It’s a fairly risk-free way to take a chance on new talent. In terms of remakes, if a formula has worked before, why not do it again? Fortunately, the remakes usually veer substantially away from the original stories in ways that keep the legacy of one monster or legend perpetually alive. Horror evolves the way anything evolves—through endless change and adaptation.
RS: What are some of your personal favorite horror films?
DJS: I don’t have a number one, or number two favorite. I admire many films for individual reasons: directors, scripts, actors. People most often ask me what my favorite version of Dracula is. I tell them that it doesn’t yet exist, but it would be a master version of the story edited together from all the major adaptations, with actors from different versions interacting with each other. It would be a huge job, but if done with the right flair would be hugely entertaining and probably bring out important aspects of each version that you wouldn’t notice watching them individually.
RS: Some of the films you feature in Fright Favorites are also considered science fiction classics. How do the two genres of science fiction and horror complement each other?
DJS: Literary horror and literary science fiction are fairly separate categories, but on screen the genres tend to blur together. For instance, ALIEN (‘79) is a haunted house story set in outer space. INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (‘78) is an alien invasion story that’s also about zombies. Being a visual medium, movies tend to spotlight science fiction’s bizarre and grotesque imagery and end up emphasizing the horrific over the cerebral.
RS: How do horror films tap into the pervading anxieties and fears of their respective eras?
DJS: This is the through-line of most of my books: that horror entertainment amounts to a secret history of modern times, with each new cultural upheaval or trauma setting in motion identifiable kinds of stories and characters. The anxiety and fear need to be processed, but it’s always easier to deal with real-world horror if you don’t have to look at it too directly. WWI tore about human bodies like no previous war, and all through the 1920s and 1930s we looked at one disfigured face after another, even though the films weren’t about battlefield combat. Unprecedented numbers of mutilated men were returning to society, and they were being shunned. Nonetheless, they popped up in our cinematic dreams. During the AIDS epidemic, there was an explosion of books and films about another mysterious, blood-related scourge: vampirism. Repress awareness of an uncomfortable fact, and it will always rise somewhere else in a different form.
RS: What do you hope readers take away from the book?
DJS: So far, the book does seem to be engaging readers who have a general knowledge of horror entertainment but are curious to know more. The most important thing a reader might take away is the simple revelation that there’s much more to movie monsters than meets the eye.

Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu
Carmilla on Goodreads
Release Year: 1872
Format I Read: audio dramatization (previously read the ebook)
Length: 2h 22m
Genres: Horror, Gothic, Vampires
This review is going to be a little different.
Since we’re in the midst of spooky season and Halloween is less than a week away as I’m writing this, I decided now would be a good time to reread and discuss this book. The fact that audible is giving away a dramatization of this book for subscribers also helped, and though I’ve read Carmilla before, the dramatization is the version I went with for the reread. The dramatization is really good, all the actors are wonderful and Rose Leslie in particular really said gay rights with her performance.
Carmilla is a book that I’m always surprised by the people who do know what it is and the people who don’t. I feel like it has gotten a lot more recognition over the past few years with the web series of the same name being pretty popular among internet gays, but even some people who watched that web series didn’t realize that it was based on a novella from the 1800s (though it said as much in the credits).
In case you don’t know, Carmilla is a novella that revolves around a young woman named Laura who lives in Styria with her father, and under weird circumstances they take in a house guest: Carmilla, a girl who appears to be of a similar age as Laura. Assumptions can be made when I say that this is a vampire story, and its ones that predates Dracula by several decades. It’s also very gay and the namesake of this very blog you’re reading now.
I don’t think spoilers really ruin the book, and I think a lot of the “spoilers” that I’m going to discuss are rather obvious, but here is your one and only spoiler warning. Normally I’d be more careful, but as I said, this is a different sort of review.
Given that I named my blog Karnstein Review, after the Duchess Karnstein herself, it should be fairly obvious that I adore this book. It’s a book I knew at least hinted at some sort of sapphic relationship between Laura and Carmilla, but when I’d first read it, I assumed it would just be hints. And subtle hints at that. It was written in the 1870s, after all. Well, it’s very very very gay. I’m not sure how else to describe it other than that. The gayness is not only overt, they blatantly discuss love and romance and kiss each other. It’s a lot more than I expected from a 19th book.
But, I also have to acknowledge that it is a 19th century book about a lesbian, and it’s one written by a man nonetheless. Things don’t end well for Carmilla and Laura’s relationship, and there’s pretty intense judgement on any kind of sexual feelings, much less sexual feelings between two women. The message that Carmilla’s seduction of Laura is wrong and immoral is as blatant as her seduction of Laura is. So why do I like this book so much?
Well, for one thing, I’ve always been a sucker for vampire stories (my god I only realized that pun after I wrote it). I think that a lot of queer people who grew up with religious backgrounds are drawn to vampires and vampire stories, and there’s a reason for that. Particularly with these older stories like Carmilla and Dracula, one of the major themes of vampire stories is sexual fear, desires, and moralizing about those things. Vampires represent something that we are told is dangerous. Something that can kill us and even hurt our very soul. Vampires will seduce you and take something from you that you need to live a normal happy life. They may even steal your salvation. In Carmilla when I was rereading it, I noted that her need for blood is never described as thirst or hunger. It’s called lust, specifically “lust for living blood.” Many who grew up with feelings for people of the same gender have been told similar things about those feelings. Vampires are those feelings. And these vampire stories were often written specifically to express and moralize about sexual feelings. Of course vampire stories are attractive to us.
With Carmilla the sexual moralizing plain, and it would definitely not be something I let fly in a modern book, but there’s something strangely familiar about it here. The book is told from Laura’s perspective, and she herself described her confusing and intense feelings for Carmilla. She’ll say she’s in love with Carmilla and repulsed by Carmilla in the same sentence and it doesn’t feel like a lie either time. She’ll be clearly very troubled by Carmilla’s overt flirtation and courting, but also keep doing things that put her close to Carmilla. She’ll keep flirting back and keep acknowledging the feelings that she has. It’s paradoxal, but it’s a familiar feeling. It’s someone just realizing that they have feeling for someone of their same gender and being very, very troubled by what that means. Laura’s words and thoughts feel very familiar to me, and I don’t think that J. Sheridan Le Fanu was purposely trying to accurately portray my own gay panic, yet he definitely did.
I don’t think that Carmilla is the perfect story. I keep imagining all the ways in which I’d like to rewrite it, which all involve me just giving Carmilla and Laura a happy ending, but I think it’s an important to the history of gay fantasy and horror. I also think that it’s a story that can still mean a lot and speak to queer people today, as evidenced by the very popular web series adaptation of it. It’s a book I would happily suggest, but it’s also a book I’d suggest you know what it is going in. It’s a lesbian vampire story written in the 1800s, and all the implications that come with that are true.

It’s spooky season so that means Halloween themed posts here on the ol’ blog! Today I want to do The Creature of the Night Book Tag! I have a few Halloween posts I want to get up here, so stick around for all the spookiness!
1. Vampire – Salem’s Lot - Stephen King
I just finished Salem’s Lot and I freaking loved it! The story revolves around Ben, a man who returns to his childhood home in the hopes to confront his childhood trauma. Instead he finds that all the monsters he feared as a child are real. This is a vampire story, but the vampires are actually terrifying predators. Danny, the child vampire, terrified me just like he did all those years ago when I first watched the movie! I highly, highly, highly, recommend this book! it is a perfectly unnerving Halloween read!
2. Werewolf – Jughead: The Hunger - Archie Comics
This is a fairly new released comic, in which Jughead is a descendant of a long line of werewolves. It’s a fun horror story, separate from the rest of the Archie-verse. I don’t want to say too much about the story because I think it’s always better to go into comics with as little info as possible. But trust me, it’s a great Halloween read!
3. Zombie – Generation Dead - Daniel Waters
Omg I read this book 11 years ago! Oh wow, I feel old! Generation Dead and it’s two follow up novels, are about a town whose teenagers won’t stay dead. All the teens that die in this town come back to life and no one knows why. The zombies are a metaphor for real life discrimination. These books stage rallies and are overall extremely reminiscing of the movements happening today. Maybe Daniel Waters saw the future when he started this series. These books are still super relevant, given today’s social/political climate. They are not scary or spooky in any way other than the blatant reflection of the real world.
4. Ghost – A Taste for Monsters - Matthew J. Kirby
A Taste for Monsters is a tale of Jack the Ripper. The story revolves around the day maid, who is severely disfigured due to phossy jaw, of the Elephant Man, Joseph Merrick. Both she and Mr. Merrick are visited by the ghost of the ripper victims, who slowly begin to drain the life force from Mr. Merrick. This is a beautiful story of acceptance and love. It is not overly spooky, but the ghosts do provide an eerie atmosphere.
5. Witches – Hocus Pocus and the All New Sequel - A. W. Jantha
Guys, a Hocus Pocus sequel, need I saw more?? I don’t want to say anything about the sequel (that doesn’t actually have a title) because you need to just go into it blind! All I will say is that it is a quality sequel and flows seamlessly with the original.
6. Fey – The Iron King - Julie Kagawa
Not at all a Halloween read, but a very good story revolving around the fey realm. When Megan Chase’s little brother is kidnapped by fairies, she along with her best friend Puck and the Winter Prince Ash, Megan will have to travel through the fairy realm to bring her brother home.
7. Demons – Cradle and All - James Patterson
Cradle and All is a great Halloween read if you, like me, love religious spookiness and the Catholic aesthetic. This novel is about two pregnant girls who claim to be virgins, and the private investigator/ex-nun’s struggle to decipher who is carrying the second coming of Christ and who is carrying a demon. I have a full review of Cradle and All here.
8. Angels – City of Glass - Cassandra Claire
City of Glass is the third installment in the Mortal Instruments series, and in this book, the main character Clary comes face to face with TWO angels. One is chained up in a basement, but the other is in all his heavenly glory and it is great! I don’t want to give a synopsis for this one because it is the third in a series. It’s not a Halloween spooky read, but it is great nonetheless!
9. Aliens – A Door into Ocean - Joan Slonczewski
A Door into Ocean is the only science fiction that I have read, and the only book I’ve read with aliens…at least that I can recall. A Door into Ocean is a feminist novel about a planet that is only water and is populated by women. Their pacifist society is endangered when a neighboring society decided to ‘develop’ the watery planet and sends in an army.
10. Superpowers – End of Watch - Stephen King
You thought I was gonna pick a batman comic, didn’t ya?? Not today! For “superpowers”, I picked End of Watch because Brady Hartsfield emerges from his coma with, you guessed it, telekinetic super powers. I think this is a great Halloween read for all the people who don’t like creature/paranormal stories. End of watch, even though Brady has telekinesis, is very grounded in real life. No witches or vampires in this one! i have a review of the entire Bill Hodges series, you can read it here.
And there you have it! The Creature of the Night Book Tag! Keep an eyeball on this blog for more Halloween spookiness and thanks for sticking around while I disappeared for like two months. I will try to do better!
