The gif where Shin-woo is comforting a crying Taekyung is actually gutting, because you can see Shin-woo on the verge of tears himself as he holds Taekyung, it's clearly visible how much it pains him to see the person he cares for cry... But also, Shin-woo doesn't shed even a tear, because he's being strong for Taekyung.... I'm so happy Taekyung notices Shin-woo and returns his feelings 🥹

As KBL are dominating in 2023, I'm remembering a very special KBL. Remember Noh Shin Woo (KANG YOO SEOK) pretended quite successfully to hate the boy he actually loved Woo Tae Kyung (LEE SAE ON)

While his love fell in love with Noh Shin Woo's friend student council president Shin Daon.

And when Noh Shin Woo finally decided confess he did it in grand style and directness that even the straightforward Woo Tae Kyung was at a lost for words.

I've started watching Black Knight on Netflix with Kang Yoo Seok (Noh Shin-Woo) in it, and can't stop thinking about your post about awful hair because they did manage to make him look younger without giving him a bowl cut, truly a miracle BL world hasn't experienced yet

Oh no is he in Black Knight? I may have to watch it then.

Yes that IS a miracle. But also Kang Yoo Seok (Light on Me) has those cute chubby cheeks, which certainly work in his favor for aging down.

He also might be one of those immortal vampire types like Lee Minhyuk of BTOB.

Series: LIGHT ON ME (KOREA, 2021)

Shin Daon (CHOE CHAN YI)realizes rumors and such no longer matters and that he's ready to talk to Tae Kyung (LEE SAE ON) however at this point Noh Shin Woo was the right choice and more importantly he was Tae Kyung's choice.

But though love was not in the cards for these two, a friendship was salvaged.

Light (Color Exchange) on Me

Someone anonymously asked about the colors in Light on Me, so I'm delivering it in two parts: 1) general color coding, and 2) the color exchange.

Read the general color coding post first because even these boys shoes are color coded.

Side Characters - A Theory

Namgoong Shiwoon is a Red Rascal and Lee So Hee is a Blue Beauty (who leans into the negative traits of her color). However, Namgoong Shiwoon's clothes show that he has feelings for Lee So Hee.

The show never explicitly stated this, but at the end of the series, they had a flirtatious exchange, and Namgoong seemed invested in helping Lee Soo Hee be better.

Main Love Triangle

When the love portion of the show starts, Woo Tae Kyung, a Blue Boy, begins to develop feelings for Shin Da On, a Brown Boy, so he picks up Shin Da On's neutral brown color, but Woo Tae Kyung is also wearing green, which is used in the show to conceal feelings.

Shin Da On also tries to conceal his feelings in green, then swings to the complete opposite in an orange sweater to deny how he feels.

When Woo Tae Kyung slightly confesses on the trip, he and Shin Da On almost exchange colors, but Woo Tae Kyung's color is too light and Shin Da On's blue is too dark.

Once back at school, and with rumors swirling, Shin Da On hides out in Woo Tae Kyung's blue, but continues to avoid him, which causes Woo Tae Kyung's light blue to turn much darker, almost black.

Enter Noh Shin Woo

Noh Shin Woo, a Black Brooder, never tries to conceal his feelings (in green) or his color.

So when he starts to develop feelings for Woo Tae Kyung, his color immediately morphs...into gray.

However, he quickly starts to incorporate more blues and grays into his wardrobe, even though it is dark. (Baby is trying!)

When Woo Tae Kyung becomes even more upset about the turn of events with Shin Da On, Noh Shin Woo notices Woo Tae Kyung losing his color and steps in.

Noh Shin Woo confronts Shin Da On and tells him to either step up or get out of his way because Woo Tae Kyung is getting a boyfriend one way or another. Shin Da On denies his feelings once again, so Noh Shin Woo unleashes his feelings and color! However, Shin Da On, figures out his error, and speaks to Noh Shin Woo about his fears, in black.

But it's too late! The text message flood gates are about to be open! Noh Shin Woo takes Woo Tae Kyung shopping, and all of the options are color coded...for them.

They end up taking a picture together, and Noh Shin Woo is in his black hat, but Woo Tae Kyung wears a brown hat, demonstrating he is not fully over Shin Da On.

Shin Da On realizes his mistake and attempts to talk to Woo Tae Kyung, which happens right as Noh Shin Woo brings them back from their pseudo date.

Yet Woo Tae Kyung is hesitant because Shin Da On stays in his color unlike Noh Shin Woo who attempts to change his. Shin Da On takes notes, and shows up to the talent show in blue.

BUT he still carries his neutral white in it and spends time helping others, unlike Noh Shin Woo, who is ALL IN and focuses only on his boy.

But Woo Tae Kyung still has that damn brown hat

Well, until he takes it off showing he is finally over Shin Da On.

He watches Shin Da On alone and sleeping when Noh Shin Woo walks in and leads them out, together.

They gain a new color AND a boyfriend.

And that's how the Koreans do a light color exchange.

WHY R U? KOREAN VERSION (2023, SOUTH KOREA)

Episode 7

Sun Woo (LEE SANG MIN) and Yoo Kyeom (PARK CHANG HOON) giving Noh Shin Woo and Tae Kyung vibes (YEP, A LIGHT ON ME shout out)

This Korean version of Thailand's BL does fall short but (at least for me) not because of the actors but because the story is not fleshed out it seems rushed and uneven.

The chemistry is there for both couples however it's not reaching full potential.

Anyway, this cute sequence giving me LIGHT ON ME vibes has Sun Woo worn out and Yoo Kyeom (his name is a mystery since MDL has one thing and IQIYI subs have something entirely different) placing his head on his shoulder while making inquiries about their romantic possibilities. "Do You Still Like Me" ?

" Then Should We Date" ?

"No"

What exactly are they attempting to convey with this couple? 🤷🤷🏾🤷🏽‍♂️

I was tagged by the wonderful @twig-tea. I have a lot of these, comfort watching keeps me sane. So I'll just choose the ones that give me the most comfort.

1. The West Wing - It's my oldest comfort show and to this day I'll still rewatch the first 5 seasons. I love the writing and I just don't think I could live without seeing these characters every once in a while.

2. Love Sick - Noh and Phun have a very special place in my heart. I love everything about them. Noh is such a great character. And I can't even imagine having other actors playing these parts.

3.Avatar: The Last Airbender - This show is a masterpiece. It's a feat of storytelling, worldbuilding, and character development. Nuff said.

4.Cherry Blossoms After Winter - I must've watched this show at least 10 times. For a while, everytime I was feeling down, I just put it on and it never failed to lift my mood. I blame the colours and Haebom.

5.Doctor Who - I mean, it's Doctor Who, what can I really say? I don't rewatch it all, obviously, but it's always on rotation. It always makes me feel.

6.Light On Me - Shin Woo is my comfort character. And Namgoong is a close second. I adore them, I adore this show, everything is great.

7.Navillera - This show makes me smile. It makes me happy, and makes my heart fill up with joy. Deok-chool is wonderful and the dinamic between the leads is just wonderful to watch.

8.A Tale of a Thousand Stars - It's just a wonderful show. Made even better by OS2. Tian is one of my favourite characters in BL.

9.Law & Order: SVU - I used to watch a lot of police procedurals. They didn't require that much engagement and I liked the case of the week format. These days I watch way less but this one will stay. I still watch the new episodes and the old ones. I need Mariska on my screen forever.

10.Be Loved in House: I do - This is probably the first BL that I rewatched. I was devouring different ones at that point but something made me go rewatch this one before other new ones. I love Shi Lei.
