Finding God is like falling in love. This may seem strange to you, but they really are the same thing. When you fall in love with someone, you make contact with their Divinity. In essence, you find God through the person you have fallen in love with.

 

 You don’t have to fall in love with another person in order to find God, of course. You can fall in love with life, or yourself, or even God. Being in love with someone or something is having your imagination seized by something. You become inspired. When you are in love with God, or life, or yourself, you become in love with the world. Your imagination is on fire. You feel like you can achieve anything, because of the passion that runs through your veins.

 

You can set out to fall in love, you know. You have to be willing to allow your imagination to be seized. You have to be willing to stop being standoffish and become passionate. There are risks involved. You might look foolish. You might do things that people think are crazy, and you have to be willing to not care about that. You have to give it your all.

 

Falling in love with life, or God, or yourself is probably safer than falling in love with another person, to be perfectly honest. People are fallible. People do things for reasons we fail to understand. Heck, people do things for reasons they fail to understand! If you’re going to fall in love with another person and stay in love with them, you have to be willing to stay in focus of that Divine spark and let everything else be unimportant. You have to allow that love you feel for them become the most important thing. Not everyone is ready to take that step.

 

If you’re ready to fall in love with God, find something in your faith that seizes your imagination, that makes you feel empowered and passionate and alive. Give it your all. Allow it to dictate your actions. Be inspired.
