Cancer awareness.
So last time someone asked me whether we celebrate Diwali or not I replied that we won't be this year since my uncle (my mother's brother) is on a ventilator. This was 11th November. On 13th November, my uncle passed away due to cancer.
Nobody knew he had cancer before. So let me take you on a journey of about four and a half months of cancer.
–July 2023.
So my uncle had a “wound” around his wisdom tooth. He was in pain and consulted a dentist 1. This dentist has done all the dental stuff in our family/relatives. A really good one. He said that it was an ulcer and it would be fine and gave some painkillers and other medicine to help it heal.
However, that did not work out and the pain only got worse. My uncle changed the doctor and went to the dentist 2. Now, this dentist is a well-known doctor and works in a very expensive hospital. And he has a clinic of his own. He said that they needed to extract the wisdom teeth. And after that, it will heal. So they did that.
The pain did not stop but it only got worse for even worse.
–August 2023.
When he did not get any relief, my uncle went to another hospital (which is one of the top hospitals in India). They did the scanning and we found out that he had stage 1 cancer in his mouth.
The doctors recommended he should get it operated and removed. So they did that. It was a shock for doctors that when they were operating on him, they found that it was not only in his mouth but in his throat as well. It looked like it started in the throat and its roots went towards his mouth.
They declared that it was not the first stage but the fifth stage of cancer.
Then his chemotherapy and radiation began. He was getting weaker quite faster since his upper jaw was operated on and he was on a liquid diet.
The treatment went on. He was fine at the beginning. Doing minor chores or taking himself to appointments. That did not last long.
–October 2023.
His health got worse and he was completely in bed. His breath would shorten even if went to the toilet which was just one step from his side. It would take minutes on minutes to get his breath at a normal rate.
It was around 14th October. We were there. My aunt helped my uncle bathe but things were not good. His breath was way too short and you could see his stomach getting sucked in when he was trying to breathe.
The next day was the day he was hospitalized.
The doctors said that his lungs were filled with water because of some infection which, to date, is not known.
They started taking out the water. They would fill many bottles every day. It was abnormal, to say the least, that there was that much water in his lungs.
–November 2023.
During that time, they took his bone marrow and tested it. Just to find out the cancer has spread in his bones as well. The doctors did another test whose results took almost a week to come back. The doctors said that if this test was positive, they can do another treatment which was basically the last thing they could do to save his life.
The test came out to be positive. And they prepared the injection. They took him to the ICU in order to keep him under observation for 24 hours according to the protocol of that injection.
This injection was supposed to extend his life by 2 years (maximum). This was an expensive injection costing ₹2,00,000 and this was to be given every three weeks.
Things didn't turn out well.
His health deteriorated. He already had a kidney problem for a long. His kidney doctors had asked him to buy a plot just in case they needed to perform a kidney transplant.
His creatinine increased dangerously and doctors suggested dylasis. They did that too. However, nothing worked and finally after two days, on 13th November, he took his last breath.
.
I made this post to share something that happened to us recently. Never have any of us thought this would happen to our close relatives/family. Cancer is a tricky thing.
The main fault was of Dentist 2 that he pulled his tooth out. Cancer attacks faster when it is touched. He should have taken cautionary steps while treating.
What's done is done. He can't come back and we hope he finds peace.
I just want to share this so you are aware of it. Always get proper tests done. Never take things lightly. Even if you see minor symptoms of anything, get it checked. I don't know what to say right now. But at least let's stay healthy and cautious.
Cancer is a sneaky nightmare. It took someone so close to us within a few months. It was a horrible and haunting thing.
I hope nothing like this happens to any of you. I love you guys so please let's stay healthy. Look after your friends, family, and yourself. Life is too short for regrets❤️.

dealing With Cervical Cancer: Is Immunotherapy an Option?
Tumblr media
Overview
Cervical cancer is a global health issue for women, with over 600,000 new cases and 340,000 deaths in 2020. It is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancer worldwide and the second leading cause of death in women aged 15 to 45 years. Apart from chemo and radiotherapy, due to advanced research and medical studies, other treatment options have emerged in recent days. Immunotherapy is one such treatment for cancer. If you want to explore this option with your cancer specialist, then you are on the right page. Continue reading to know more.
What is Immunotherapy?
Immunotherapy, often known as biological therapy, is a cancer treatment that works by increasing the patient’s immune system, allowing it to fight cancer more effectively.
Our immune system protects us by destroying any foreign bodies that pose a health risk for us.
Even though the immune system can combat cancer cells to a degree, the mutation of these cancer cells prevents them from being destroyed.
Immunotherapy can assist a patient’s immune system to become stronger and more capable of fighting cancer.
Why do you need to undergo immunotherapy?
Immunotherapy works by altering the immune system’s function. There are two different reasons why it might be done:
To stimulate or strengthen your body’s natural defense system, allowing it to recognize and fight cancer cells.
Using lab-created components that are similar to immune system components to restore or improve the immune system.
This can aid in the destruction of cancer cells that have undergone genetic modifications which makes them invisible to the immune system. Or can attack those specific proteins that can shut down your immune cells and immunity as well.
What are the treatment options for cervical cancer using immunotherapy?
Apart from the standard treatment options like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy, immunotherapy has been accepted as an effective treatment for cancer.
According to Cancer Research Institute(CRC), FDA has approved three kinds of immunotherapy treatment options for cervical cancer. This can relieve the female reproductive cancer symptoms in women and prepare the body to fight for cancer as well.
Targeted antibodies
Immunomodulators
Preventive vaccines

Top 5 Reasons to Get Health Insurance Services in Hyderabad
Tumblr media
It’s human nature to protect what matters most to us—our gold chains, wallets, and even our mobile phones. But do we think the same way about our health? Like every valuable asset, health needs to be safeguarded too. That’s where health insurance services in Hyderabad come in. With rising medical costs and unpredictable health risks, investing in health insurance is not just wise—it’s essential.
Why Do You Need Health Insurance?
Healthcare costs here are increasing just as quickly. Without proper insurance, even a routine medical emergency can leave you financially strained. Health insurance acts as a shield, offering financial and emotional security during challenging times.
1. Financial Protection Against Rising Medical Costs
Healthcare expenses are climbing steadily today. From doctor consultations and diagnostic tests to hospital stays and surgeries, costs can pile up quickly. Without health insurance, a single hospitalization could drain your savings. The best health insurance policy in Hyderabad ensure that your finances remain intact by covering most, if not all, of your medical expenses. Example: A simple appendectomy today can cost anywhere from ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000. With health insurance, this cost can be significantly reduced or even entirely covered.
2. Comprehensive Coverage for Critical Illnesses
Many health insurance plans provide specialized coverage for critical illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and kidney failure. These conditions require long-term and expensive treatments. Investing in a health insurance plan that includes critical illness coverage ensures you are prepared for such scenarios, giving you peace of mind during uncertain times.
3. Access to Quality Healthcare
The city has some of the finest hospitals and medical professionals in India. However, top-quality healthcare often comes with a hefty price tag. Health insurance not only provides access to these premium facilities but also ensures cashless hospitalization at network hospitals.
4. Tax Benefits Under Section 80D
Did you know that purchasing health insurance can save you money on taxes? Under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, you can claim a deduction on the premium paid for your health insurance policy. For individuals below 60, the deduction is up to ₹25,000, and for senior citizens, it’s ₹50,000. This makes health insurance a financially smart decision.
5. Coverage for Pre- and Post-Hospitalization Expenses
Health insurance doesn’t just cover hospital bills; it also includes expenses before and after hospitalization. Costs for diagnostic tests, follow-up treatments, medicines, and doctor consultations can add up. A comprehensive insurance policy takes care of these expenses, reducing your overall out-of-pocket burden.
What Happens If You Aren’t Insured?
The consequences of not being insured today can be severe. Here’s what you might face if you choose to remain uninsured:
● High Medical Bills: Without insurance, even minor health issues can drain your savings. Major illnesses or surgeries could lead to financial debt.
● Limited Healthcare Access: Without insurance, you may hesitate to seek timely medical care, risking your health further.
● Emotional Stress: The financial burden of medical emergencies can lead to unnecessary emotional stress, affecting your overall well-being.
● Loss of Savings: Medical expenses are unpredictable. Without health insurance, you might have to dip into your savings or investments, disrupting your financial goals.
In today’s world, where medical advancements are improving longevity but at a high cost, staying uninsured is a gamble no one should take.
Conclusion
Your health is your most valuable asset—it fuels your dreams, ambitions, and quality of life. Health insurance is not just about covering medical expenses; it’s about securing your future and protecting your loved ones from financial hardships. Whether you are a young professional, a family person, or a senior citizen, there’s a health insurance plan tailored to your needs. Don’t wait for a health crisis to take action.

Fibroid Removal Surgery in India
Tumblr media
Fibroids, or uterine leiomyomas, are non-cancerous growths in the uterus that can cause various symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and infertility. Women who experience these symptoms or who have large fibroids often seek treatment to alleviate discomfort and improve their chances of conception. One of the most effective treatments is fibroid removal surgery, which can be performed in different ways, depending on the size, location, and number of fibroids present.
India has become a leading destination for fibroid removal surgery, offering high-quality care at affordable costs. Many patients from around the world travel to India to benefit from the expertise of skilled surgeons and the advanced medical technology available in the country.
Types of Fibroid Removal Surgery
There are several types of fibroid removal surgeries performed in India, including:
Myomectomy: This is the surgical removal of fibroids while preserving the uterus. It can be performed via different approaches:
Abdominal Myomectomy: The fibroids are removed through an incision in the abdomen.
Laparoscopic Myomectomy: A minimally invasive procedure, also known as keyhole surgery, where the fibroids are removed through small incisions.
Hysteroscopic Myomectomy: Used for fibroids inside the uterine cavity, this procedure is performed through the cervix with a thin, lighted tube.
Hysterectomy: In cases where the fibroids are severe or when the patient no longer desires fertility, a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) may be recommended.
Why Choose India for Fibroid Removal Surgery?
Affordable Cost: Fibroid removal surgery in India is significantly less expensive than in many Western countries. The cost can be up to 60-70% lower, without compromising on the quality of care.

Recovery and Aftercare
Recovery time after fibroid removal surgery depends on the type of surgery performed. After a laparoscopic myomectomy, patients may return to normal activities in about 1-2 weeks. For an abdominal myomectomy, recovery can take 4-6 weeks. Post-surgery, patients will be monitored for any complications, and follow-up visits will be scheduled to ensure proper healing.
Patients should avoid heavy physical activities and sexual intercourse for a few weeks after surgery to allow the uterus to heal. A balanced diet and adequate hydration are also important for a smooth recovery.
Conclusion
Fibroid removal surgery in India offers an excellent solution for women who are suffering from fibroids and seeking effective treatment. With affordable costs, skilled professionals, and top-notch medical facilities, India is an ideal destination for those looking to undergo fibroid surgery. If you are considering fibroid removal surgery, consulting with a qualified surgeon can help determine the best course of action for your health and well-being.

Introduction - What is a Medical Visa?
If you are considering India for your medical needs, the first and most important step in your journey will make you wonder how to get a medical visa for India. Navigating the visa application process might initially seem overwhelming, but with the right information and preparation, it can be straightforward and stress-free.
This article aims to provide detailed steps on how to get a medical visa for India, covering everything from eligibility requirements to practical tips that will make your experience smooth and seamless.
A medical visa, commonly referred to as an M-visa, is a specific category of visa granted to foreign nationals who wish to travel to India for specialized medical treatments. It is designed to facilitate international patients seeking healthcare in India’s recognized hospitals and healthcare institutions. The M-visa ensures that individuals can focus on their recovery while complying with legal entry requirements.
This visa is typically granted for treatments that require significant medical intervention and are not readily available or affordable in the applicant’s home country.  Now, before we understand the steps on how to get a medical visa for India, let us understand what is the eligibility criteria to get one.
Eligibility Criteria for a Medical Visa for India
Obtaining a medical visa to India is contingent upon meeting specific conditions set by the Indian government. These criteria ensure that the visa is granted to individuals genuinely seeking advanced medical care.
Below is a detailed explanation of the key conditions for eligibility on how to get a medical visa for India:
1. Treatment Scope
The treatment sought in India must fall under the purview of recognized and approved medical procedures. This ensures that the visa is issued only for legitimate and essential medical needs. Common categories of treatment that qualify for a medical visa include but are not limited to:
Cardiac surgery (Heart Bypass Surgery, Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), Heart Transplant, Angioplasty)
Orthopedic Surgeries (Knee Replacement, Hip Replacement, Shoulder Arthroscopy)
Neurosurgeries: (Brain Tumor Surgery, Brain Aneurysm, CyberKnife Treatment)
Cancer Treatments (including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgical interventions)
Plastic Surgery (Body Contouring Procedures, Liposuction, Mommy Makeover, Breast Surgery, Face Surgery, Vaginal Surgery, etc.)
Fertility Treatments: Assisted reproductive techniques like IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) and ICSI
Dental Treatments (Dental Implants, Veneers, Full Mouth Restoration)
Bariatric Surgery
2. Medical History and Condition Documentations
To successfully obtain a medical visa for India, applicants must submit valid documentation that clearly outlines their medical condition and justifies the need for treatment in India. This evidence helps establish the legitimacy of the application and ensures that the required care is available in the country.
Typical documents include:
Medical Certificate: A formal document issued by a certified healthcare professional or institution detailing the applicant's diagnosis and recommended treatment.
Treatment Recommendation Letter: A letter from the treating doctor or specialist highlighting the need for specific medical procedures, tests, or therapies that necessitate travel to India.
Diagnosis Report: Recent medical tests, scans, or lab results that provide clear evidence of the applicant’s condition.
Referral Letter: A recommendation from a local physician referring the applicant to a hospital or medical facility in India for advanced care.
3. Recognized Hospitals
The medical visa is granted only if the treatment is scheduled at a recognized and registered hospital or healthcare facility in India. To qualify:
The hospital must be accredited and approved by the Indian government or a relevant medical body.
Applicants are often required to submit an appointment or admission letter from the Indian healthcare facility confirming the treatment plan.
Choosing reputed hospitals not only fulfills visa criteria but also ensures high standards of care and safety.
India boasts a wide network of internationally accredited hospitals, such as those certified by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) and JCI (Joint Commission International). These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by experienced medical professionals, making India a preferred destination for quality healthcare.
For those who are wondering how to get a medical visa for India, meeting these conditions, applicants can ensure a smoother visa application process and set the stage for a successful medical journey to India.
Essential Documents Required for a M-Visa
To ensure a hassle-free application process for a medical visa to India, it is important to prepare and submit all required documents other than the medical history and conditions documents. These documents are critical for verifying your identity and travel intentions. Here’s what you’ll need:

For patients battling brain tumors, the choice between cutting-edge proton therapy and traditional radiation therapy can feel overwhelming. India, renowned for its world-class healthcare, offers both advanced options at some of the best cancer hospitals in India.
This comprehensive guide will explore the differences between proton therapy and traditional radiation therapy while helping you understand why India is a global leader in brain tumor treatment.
What is Proton Therapy?
Proton therapy is an advanced form of radiation therapy that uses charged particles (protons) to target and destroy cancer cells with extreme precision. Unlike traditional radiation, proton beams stop at the tumor site, releasing their energy directly into the cancer cells without affecting surrounding healthy tissues.
This precision makes proton therapy ideal for treating delicate and critical areas such as the brain, spine, or eyes, where sparing healthy tissue is vital.
What is Conventional Radiation Therapy?
Conventional radiation therapy uses X-rays (high-energy electromagnetic waves) to target and kill cancer cells. While effective, X-rays travel through the body, impacting both cancerous and healthy tissues. This can lead to more side effects and is less precise compared to proton therapy.
Despite its limitations, conventional radiation therapy remains a widely used and affordable option for treating many types of cancer.
Benefits of Proton Therapy vs. Radiation Therapy
1. Precision and Accuracy Proton therapy delivers radiation with pinpoint accuracy, making it ideal for brain tumors near critical organs like the brainstem or optic nerves.
2. Reduced Side Effects Unlike traditional radiation, which affects nearby tissues, proton therapy minimizes side effects such as nausea, fatigue, and cognitive issues.
3. Long-Term Safety For pediatric patients and those requiring multiple treatments, proton therapy reduces the risk of long-term complications, preserving quality of life.
4. Ideal for Complex Brain Tumors Proton therapy is particularly effective for treating brain tumors located in sensitive or hard-to-reach areas, where precision is crucial.
Success Rate of Proton Therapy vs. Traditional Radiation Therapy Both proton therapy and traditional radiation therapy are effective in treating cancer. However, proton therapy stands out for its ability to reduce side effects and improve outcomes in cases involving tumors near critical organs.
For brain tumors, especially pediatric cases, proton therapy offers better long-term results with fewer complications.
Side Effects: Proton Therapy vs. Traditional Radiation
Proton Therapy Side Effects
Mild skin irritation
Localized hair loss
Reduced fatigue and nausea compared to traditional radiation
Lower risk of secondary cancers
Traditional Radiation Side Effects
More pronounced skin irritation
Widespread hair loss in treated areas
Higher levels of fatigue and nausea
Increased risk of secondary cancers due to broader exposure
Which is Better for Brain Tumors?
For patients with brain tumors, proton therapy is often the superior choice due to its precision, reduced side effects, and safety for tumors near critical organs. However, the choice depends on factors like tumor location, patient age, and availability of treatment options.
Traditional radiation therapy remains a practical and effective alternative, especially when proton therapy is not accessible.

Colonoscopy In Mumbai
A colonoscopy test is a crucial diagnostic procedure that allows doctors to examine the inner lining of the colon (large intestine) and rectum. It is commonly recommended for individuals experiencing digestive issues, those at higher risk for colorectal cancer, or as a routine screening tool for people over the age of 50. In Mumbai, several top-tier healthcare facilities offer expert colonoscopy services to help detect and prevent serious health conditions, including colorectal cancer.
Tumblr media
Why Is a Colonoscopy Test Important?
A colonoscopy is a powerful diagnostic tool that can help detect a variety of conditions affecting the colon, including:
Colorectal cancer: It is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths, but early detection significantly improves the chances of successful treatment.
Polyps: Small growths on the colon lining that can develop into cancer over time if not removed.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): Conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis can be identified through a colonoscopy.
Bleeding or pain: If a patient is experiencing unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms, a colonoscopy can help pinpoint the cause.
Chronic constipation or diarrhea: Persistent digestive issues can be explored during a colonoscopy to identify any underlying abnormalities.
The Colonoscopy Procedure: What to Expect
A colonoscopy test is performed by a gastroenterologist using a long, flexible tube called a colonoscopy, which is equipped with a camera and light at the end. This allows the doctor to view the entire colon and rectum on a monitor.
Pre-Procedural Preparation:
Bowel Preparation: For the test to be effective, the colon must be completely empty. The doctor will give you detailed instructions on how to clear your bowel, which typically includes a special liquid or medication to drink the day before the procedure. This will cause frequent bowel movements to ensure a clean colon.
Fasting: You may be asked to fast for several hours before the procedure to ensure the best results.
The Procedure:
Sedation: Colonoscopy is usually performed under mild sedation or anesthesia to keep you comfortable and relaxed during the procedure.
Insertion of the Colonoscope: Once sedated, the colonoscope is gently inserted through the rectum, allowing the doctor to visualize the colon lining.
Duration: The procedure typically lasts around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the complexity of the examination.
Post-Procedure: After the procedure, you will be monitored until the sedation wears off. You may experience some bloating, cramping, or a feeling of fullness, but these symptoms generally subside within a few hours.
Biopsy or Polyp Removal:
If the doctor detects any abnormal tissue or polyps during the colonoscopy, they can remove them or take a biopsy for further analysis. This can help identify cancer or precancerous conditions early on.
