Nikon D7200: Beautifully designed camera with multiple features

A most advanced DSLR in Nikon’s DX range. The D7200 sets a new standard for image quality with its DX-format 24.2-megapixel having a CMOS sensor with EXPEED 4 image-processing engine. Advanced Multi-CAM 3500 II autofocus sensor module with 51 precise focus points which captures super sharp images even in low light conditions. That 6fps continuous shooting speed is true if you're snapping away in RAW. Although you will need a sizeable and fast SD card in both SD card slots for keeping your precious data. You can set one to capture RAW and another one for JPEG, or can use one for video shooting and the other for capturing pictures.

It Contains an ISO 100-25,600, ISO 51,200, 102,400 black, and ISO white modes for capturing some outstanding pictures along 6 fps continuous shooting (7 fps in 1.3x crop mode) with increased buffer depth. D700 has 1/8000 sec maximum shutter speed, a 3.2 aspect ratio, 1.2M dot RGBW LCD display. It shoots 1080/60p video (1.3x crop only) with clean output over HDMI and Flat Picture Control.

It contains Dual SD card slots and Wi-Fi along with NFC for easy sharing image to your loved ones. It comes in a Magnesium alloy weather-sealed body which is a pretty much stylish look. One of the best and important features is its improved AF system.

Nikon has successfully updated this model to its Multi-CAM 3500DX II system by offering a 51 AF points (sensitive to -3EV) while the D7100's is limited to -2EV exposure compensation.

Furthermore, the Elephant Mountain is actually connected to another hiking trail that you can continue trekking.

The higher you get, the more difficult the trek. There will be climbing ropes along the way. While waiting for the sunset, you might also chance upon the few antique-looking cottages.

4. The city has the best-themed restaurants.

What makes themed restaurants fun is that they are not exclusively for children to enjoy. Even adults can enjoy Taipei’s quirky restaurants like a child at heart. Some of these restaurants include P.S. Bu Bu Café, a place decorated with pastel-painted vintage cars for tables (yes, you can “ride” in a car and enjoy your meal); Brick Works, a Lego-themed café, where even the spoon, forks, and cupcakes are designed to look like Lego bricks; and yes, Modern Toilet, a toilet-themed restaurant.

The Internet speed in Taipei is one of the fastest ones I’ve had among all my Asian country tours. Hanging out in a café in Taipei allowed me to surf using either 3G or Wi-Fi connections. This dish is not ordinary—it has been a favorite of the locals and an inseparable part of their way of life that it’s come to a point where the city holds an annual festival, the Taipei Beef Noodle Festival, just for this dish!

The dish is usually composed of round or flat noodles, tender beef slices, vegetables like cabbages, and is usually spicy. The dish is a city-wide obsession that can be bought in the smallest of street stalls to the fanciest of restaurants.

7. Culture = Temples.

Despite being one of the most urbanized cities in Taiwan, Taipei is also home to many temples that are a part of the local culture. One of the most famous temples in the area is Mengjia Longshan Temple, a structure that has stood in its current place since 1738. Nearby is the lesser-known Qingshan Temple, whose intricately designed octagonal dome and stone ornaments are yet to be discovered by the larger tourist crowd.

Food, souvenirs, clothes, you name it—Taipei’s night markets have everything for you. The night market culture in the city is as vibrant as its night clubs. Gongguan Night Market is the largest market in the southern area, and sells various skewered and grilled street food, hot soup, and more. Books, fashion accessories, and occasionally a movie theatre is in this market that is open from 6 PM to 12 AM. Another famous night market is the Raohe Street Night Market, which opens at 5 PM daily.

8. The surrounding environment is simply breathtaking.

Mountains aside, Taipei is home to so many beautiful natural tourist attractions. Despite its relatively small geographic size, the city is home to natural gardens and parks. 9. There are museums everywhere.

Aside from the National Museum, Taipei also houses unique specialty exhibits, like the Miniatures Museum of Taipei and the traditional Beitou Museum. The former was opened in 1997, and has been collecting small replicas of famous buildings and scenes from classical stories like Jack and the Beanstalk. On the other hand, Beitou Museum, which was once a Japanese-style hot spring hotel, had significant roles during the Japanese Rule in Taipei. It was renovated into a museum.

10. The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a must-see.

If Paris has the Eiffel Tower, Taipei has the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. Being the most iconic national monuments in the Republic of China is enough reason for you not to miss seeing this massive, white-and-blue complex. Also in the area is the National Theater and Concert Hall.

One of the charms of the memorial hall is that its construction was given much thought. The number of steps leading to the main entrance—89—represents the former President’s Chiang Kai-shek’s age of death. Meanwhile, the eight-sided roof symbolizes abundance of good fortune.

Nikon has just taken the wraps off its new enthusiast DSLR, the D7500. Borrowing a lot of key tech from the flagship D500, it slots in above the D7200 in the Nikon DSLR range. 

We've already had some time with the new camera, so check out our hands-on Nikon D7500 review for our first impressions, but here are some of the highlights to get you up to speed...

1. It uses the same sensor as the D500

That's right, the Nikon D7500 has the same brilliant 20.9MP APS-C DX-format sensor that's in the D500. You may lose a few million pixels compared with a 24MP sensor, but in return you get an ISO range that extends to an incredible ISO1,640,000 equivalent. 

2. It uses an enhanced 51-point AF system

The D7500 uses Nikon’s tried-and-tested 51-point AF system, which covers a decent portion of the frame and is sensitive all the way down to an impressive -3EV. This now comes with a Group-Area AF function (we've seen it on other Nikon DSLRs, but this is a first for a D7xxx camera) for improved subject tracking. There's also Auto AF Fine Tune, which lets you calibrate certain lenses.

3. It's lighter than the D7200

The handgrip on the D7500 is much deeper than on the D7200, and the body features comprehensive weather sealing. The monocoque body weighs 1lb. 6.6oz / 640g and is approximately 5% lighter than the D7200 and 16% lighter than the D500.

4. It has a 3.2-inch tilt-angle touchscreen

Instead of a rear screen that sits flush with the body, as on the D7200, the Nikon D7500 sports a tilt-angle touchscreen with a 922,000-dot resolution. The touchscreen can be used to easily control and compose shots, as well as to play back and review images. 

5. It shoots 4K movies

The Nikon D7500 can shoot 4K UHD (3840 × 2160/30p) video, while there's also the facility to produce awe-inspiring 4K UHD time-lapse movies in-camera. As we've seen with the D500, the D7500 offers 3-axis built-in e-VR image stabilization when shooting 1080p Full HD video, and offers simultaneous 4K UHD output to card and uncompressed via HDMI. There's also a headphone and microphone jack for audio recording and monitoring.

6. It can shoot at 8fps

Thanks to the EXPEED 5 image processor (also borrowed from the D500), the D7500 can rattle off shots at 8fps with full AF/AE, with an expanded buffer of up to 50 raw/NEF (14-bit lossless compressed) or 100 JPEG images. 

There's also the same 180K-pixel RGB metering sensor and Advanced Scene Recognition system that's used in the D500, while the arrival of Nikon's Highlight-weighted metering mode in a D7xxx prioritizes the brightest elements in the frame, helping to avoid images with blown-out highlights.

7. Price and availability

You'll have to wait until the end of June to get your hands on the Nikon D7500. It's priced at $1,249.95 / £1,299.99 for the body only, or $1,749.95 / £1,599.99 with the AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens. We're still waiting on pricing for Australia.
