Hear me out: 92 and jaycest for the smut prompts
i heard you loud and clear nonny 😌
this... ended up being a monster of a fic (almost 6k) so i'm not posting the entirety of it here, lmao.
my original plan for this was to be a coda to cloves, smoke, and honey, but every time i sat down to write nothing came to me. so finally i started listing jay pairings while looking up selfcest prompts and—then something clicked and i ended up with this <3
in which hood!jay ends up in a universe where his alternate never died <3
i had a really good time with this one! i hope you enjoy <3
(note: i was picturing jay at about ~17 in this, and jason at least 22. however, no ages are stated; just that jay is going to college soon <3)
>> AO3 <<
Hood plants his hands on the desk, leaning against it, looking up at the monitors. Batman and Nightwing are still out. Spoiler and Robin’s curfews got called an hour ago. (Tim’s probably still sulking about it, but whatever. School’s important, no matter what the brat thinks.) Alfred retired when they did.
That leaves just Hood and Jay.
Hood… He showed up just shy of a month ago. Some asshole’s running around, opening portals to other dimensions, and Hood got caught in the crossfire. Stranded, until they can catch the guy.
He won’t show them his face. Won’t even walk around in just a domino! Instead, he’s always wearing that obnoxious red helmet.
It’s driving B crazy.
Even Tim, stalker extraordinaire, hasn’t been able to figure out Hood’s identity.
Or. If he has, the little gremlin isn’t sharing. Jason highly doubts he’d hide it, though. B and Dick are too wound up about it.
Jay… He can’t blame them. Hood’s scarily well-trained. Bruce tried putting him on lock down once and he just breezed right past the defenses as soon as they left. That’s when Dick had suggested they work together—mostly to keep an eye on Hood, which they all know Hood is aware of.
Jay’s pretty sure Dick meant to take the job. Hood and B… well, the way his hackles raise if Batman so much as glances in his direction… That’s a powder keg waiting to blow. Thing is, while Hood will tolerate Nightwing—mostly—the one he trusts the most is…
Jay.
It’s flattering.
And it’s kind of nice to be the one in charge of keeping an eye on Hood.
Jay is still a recent graduate of his Robin role, and it’s a struggle to be taken seriously as his own hero. He’s… looking forward to college, honestly. To either put vigilantism on the back burner or just set up somewhere new—he hasn’t decided yet. It’ll be nice, to leave and come back changed.
Anyway, but actually being trusted to run with Hood at night makes him feel… More like a part of the team. He knows Bruce will never trust him as much as he does Dick—and he’d like to say he’s made his peace with that, but he hasn’t—but at least he trusts him with something.
Jay just wishes he wasn’t so distracted. Even now, Jay’s not paying as much attention to what’s on the monitors so much as he is the way Hood’s tac pants pull taut over his ass and thighs. Which—fuck, those thighs. Firm and muscular and thick.
He choked a guy out with them earlier tonight. Jay’s blood had rushed south so fast he’d thought he was gonna pass out. It’d taken every trick he knew to will his erection down so he could keep working.
The arousal still sings in his blood—a quiet tune, but present all the same. Jay wets his lips, and then walks over to him. “That was some nice fightin’ tonight, Hood,” he says casually, drawing closer to Hood. “Bet you’re tired. I wouldn’t mind givin’ ya a hand.” He trails his fingers over Hood’s forearm—doubts he feels it much, with his armor and jacket still in the way. “You could take a nice, hot shower, and then… I could give ya a massage. Work out some of that tension you’ve been carryin’.”
Hood is still. Jay’s not sure he’s breathing. “Kid,” he says—and then stops, hands flexing on the table. Jay waits for him to gather himself, or shake his head and tell him to get lost.
It’s not the first time he’s flirted with Hood. It was a joke at first. Hood was attractive, Jay recognized that from the start, but… Well. Jay had discovered a few years ago that flirting was a good way to throw people off of their game. (It also invited trouble, of course. The silent ‘I-told-you-so’ from Bruce after Mask started showing actual interest in him had been deafening. But mostly, it served Jason well, so he kept going it.) He hadn’t meant anything by it at first.
He does now.
Has since Hood shoved him up against a wall, bracketing him in with his body, one gloved hand pressed against his mouth. He’d hardly noticed the people passing them; senses too full of leather and steel and gunpowder. His cock had strained in his cup, a thousand times more uncomfortable than the brick at his back.
His attempts since have been utterly sincere.
Hood has never told him off. A few times, he’s even flirted back… before obviously stopping himself.
Jay persists.
“You don’t want this,” Hood says finally, turning his head to meet Jay’s eyes. The whites of his helmet are blank. They give nothing away. Neither does his voice, not with the modulator in the way. Even his body language is inscrutable.
“You don’t get to tell me that,” Jay tells him, his voice breathier than he means it to be. Anticipation thrums in his veins.
Hood lets go of the desk, standing up to his full height. Jay— Jay will be lucky to hit 5’7. More than likely, he’s going to be stuck at 5’5 for the rest of his life. Hood… Hood is taller than Bruce, beating him out by a single inch. Jay has to tip his head back to keep holding Hood’s gaze.
“You have… no idea who you’re talking to,” Hood says, and the modulator adds to the harshness of his tone.
Rather than turn Jay off, it makes him shiver before defiantly lifting his chin.
“Oh, fuck off. You wanna tell me you’re not interested? Fine, that’s fair. I’ll back off. You wanna tell me to stop? Fine. That’s fair. I stop. But you don’t get to tell me that I don’t want this. That I don’t want you.”
Jay steps closer. He already stripped out of his armor, leaving him in nothing but a form-fitting t-shirt and tight leggings. He ditched his cup, too, which means when he grinds his hips forward, there’s nothing to prevent Hood from feeling his erection as he plasters himself against Hood’s side, stretching onto his tip-toes. His lips brush where Hood’s ear would be, if not for the helmet.
“Let me show you how much I mean what I say,” he whispers.
Hood goes still again—but it’s the same kind of stillness that falls just before a storm. Jay holds his breath.
It’s knocked from him when Hood grabs him, broad hands gripping his waist and lifting him onto the desk—his ass just barely missing the keyboard.
Then, he reaches up; a low, mechanical hiss sending Jay’s heart into his throat. Hood tosses the helmet aside—Jay hears it hit the ground, roll, but he doesn’t bother to look where it lands. Instead, he watches Hood rip his domino off next, tossing that aside too, and then, finally—
Jay sees him.
He drinks him in ravenously. The scar, starring at his mouth and trailing up, up, to his temple, where it disappears into his hairline. His hair is dark, curly, wild and askew the same way Jay’s is after a patrol. There’s a shock of white in the front, where his bangs curl on his forehead, forming a heart shape.
Huh.
Jason’s do that too.
Their noses are similar, too; a little crooked, with a raised bump in the middle. They’ve both got full mouths, settled into a natural pout. A small scattering of freckles over their noses, including a darker one under the left eye.
A scar, mostly faded, over a brow.
Jay’s eyes go wide. “You’re—” Me, he doesn’t finish, the word sticking in his throat.
How many times had he tried to guess which of them Hood could be, if any of them at all? Himself had never crossed his mind, not once.
Hood… He wielded guns with brutal efficiency. None of Bruce’s security measures could contain him. When Nightwing challenged him to a spar, they’d been so close to evenly matched. He had the height, the bulk to match Bruce, and—
He was just…
Hood was dangerous, and lethal, and confident, and skilled, and big, and—
So very unlike Jay at all.
Yet… There he is. He has a few more scars, and his jaw is more defined, but— They have the same full cheeks, the ones that give him perpetual babyface. Especially with his long, dark lashes and full, pink lips.
Jay… is starting to see why people call him pretty.
“I told you,” Hood—Jason says harshly. It’s Jay’s first time hearing it without the modulator. His voice is low, gravelly. It makes his skin pebble.
Hood being Jason doesn’t make him want him less at all. He’s still the same ultra-competent badass that he was before, and—
Jay would like to get his hands on him right now, pretty please.
Jason doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo. Insecurity still runs deep, Jay guesses.
“Go on. It’s past time little birdies went back to their nests.”
Jay fists both hands in the collar of his jacket before Jason can take more than a single step. “Shut up,” he snaps—and then yanks him down into a fierce, hungry kiss.
Jason gasps into his mouth.
For one heart-stopping second, Jay thinks he’s going to be shoved away. Thinks Jason will look at him with disgust, humiliate him for even considering that Jason might want anything to do with him.
Jason doesn’t.
Instead, he steps forward, forcing Jay to tip his head back. There’s the rustle of fabric, and then—a hand, no longer gloved, tangles in his hair, pulling just-so in a way that makes Jay gasp, shiver, hips rocking forward, grinding his dick against the molded abs of Jason’s armor.
His moan is embarrassing, high enough that the bats rustle restlessly above them.
Jason presses the advantage, plunging his tongue in Jay’s mouth. It tastes of peppermint and cigarettes as Jason licks into him slow and deep, delving into every nook and crevice of Jay’s mouth.
Jay shudders; legs locking around Jason’s waist.
When Jason pulls away… Jay whines, trying to chase him. It’s the hand in his hair that stills him; fingers tightening, holding him in place.
“Please,” he begs.
Jason’s nostrils flare. Then… his gaze flickers around them, evaluating their surroundings.
“Not here,” he says finally.
Jay whimpers, embarrassingly high, when Jason lifts him; hands braced under his thighs, the curve of his ass.
And Jay— he may not be very tall, but he’s solid; all muscle and pockets of fat, a body honed through years of training.
Jason holds him like he weighs nothing at all.
Even when they climb the stairs, Jason taking them two-by-two, he doesn’t falter. Barely breathes any heavier, even when Jay gives into the urge to start sucking marks onto his neck.
He knows he’s affected. He can feel his pulse, hear the soft hitches in his breathing, but—
His steps never waver.

Does anyone else have the problem of having to say “I like Batman” to normal people instead of saying “I love Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan, Robin, the Signal, Alfred Pennyworth, Bat Hound, Alfred the Cat, oh and Bruce is ok sometimes.”

Spoilers for Nightwing (2016) #92
Idk, the way Dick got hurt in the flashback is off... Like, couldn´t Dick have also throwed Batarangs at them instead of jumping in
#it seems that Taylor was going for a set up similar to ´The Batman´ cartoon#can´t help but think that the whole jumping into trouble no matter what is foreshadowing for something :/#where Babs was first thus a bit more experienced#and Dick was younger and a bit more dork-ish#considering that at the beginning Taylor put them at almost the same age it´s weird because Babs looks older than Dick in this one#nightwing#dick grayson

Updated with the help of @peppersonironi and @tsukiakari1203 thank you for helping I tried my best but let’s do this!
DC Timeline is 99.99% that these are members of the batfam:
Bruce Wayne | Batman | 42
Dick Grayson | Nightwing | (Formerly) Robin 1 | 26
Barbara Gordon | Batgirl or Oracle (the dc timeline is weird and bad) | 21-29
Jason Todd | Red Hood | (Formerly) Robin 2 | 19-21
Cassandra Cain | Black Bat | (Formerly) Batgirl | ??
Stephanie Brown | Batgirl | (Formerly) Spoiler & Robin 4 | 17
Tim Drake | Red Robin | (Formerly) Robin 3 | 17
Duke Thomas | Signal | (Formerly) The Lark and Robin |
Damian Wayne | Robin 5 | 13
Alfred Pennyworth | fudging old
Selina Kyle | Catwoman | 43
Jim Gordon | 60ish
Animated DC Universe, (JL, BBB, JLU, BB):
Terry McGinnis | Batman | 18
Diana Prince | Wonder Woman | 5000+
Matt McGinnis | Robin | 16
Max Gibson | 18
Ace | not Ace the Bat-Hound
It’s Complicated:
Batmite
Talia Al Ghul | ??
David Zambive | Batwing | 30s
DC is only 92% on them being batfam:
Note this means that they are consistent in being part of the batfam but got fricked up too much for consistency, I could put Talia here but she belongs with bat-mite.
Kate Kane | Batwoman | ?
Beth Kane | ?
Ace the Bat-Hound | he a dog
Idk how to title this:
Luke Fox | Batwing (Formerly) | ?
This is not finished I just wanted to fix and update the parts that I got wrong thanks for the information :)

in your post about things you would change about the Batfamily post you said you would give Tim a new costume and I was wondering how you feel about the rest of the Batfamily current costumes and if there's anything you would change? (I personally hate Jason current costume)
The one with the restraint mask and red eyes? God I hate that costume too, especially because Jason already had the coolest costume in the Batfam before that.
With Bruce, Dick and Jason I’m a strong believer of “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it,” their classic costumes are just fine. I don’t want to see them in anything except the black and blue bodysuit with the Nightwing symbol, the brown leather jacket of Redhood (with NO helmet-lips plz) and a good old all-black Batsuit (without a speedo or round yellow Batsignal symbol) for Batman.
Recently with Barbara they have made the black part of her Batgirl be this shade of blue/purple? While her cape/gloves/boots got shorter? Altogether it just feels like they wanted a more “cutiefied” and casual look for her, which I’m not here for, I would much prefer it if she had a pitch-black suit with yellow gloves up her elbows and yellow boots up to her knees, something like this. (but then again I would rather Babs be Oracle instead of Batgirl, so I don’t really care)
I like both Stephanie’s Spoiler’s outfit and Batgirl’s outfit, but I may prefer the Spoiler one because I think we need some variety in costumes and there’s too much black clothes in the family. My only complaint is that I wish they gave her a Bat-symbol on her chest or something to make her outfit less plain, also just make her face-mask cover only half her face instead of all of it.
I also like Cassandra’s Orphan costume, but I would prefer it if she went back to her creepy-smiley-face Batgirl outfit, but without a cape (capes just don’t suit Cass) and I would really like it if they went crazy with the stitching part of her costume by extending it all over her costume for max creepiness. Basically a mix between her current costume and Catwoman’s costume from the 92′s Batman Returns movie.
Like I said in my “things I would do if I was in charge of DC” I would destroy nostalgic Tim’s fans who don’t want to let go of the 90′s by giving Tim a brand new Superhero identity and costume, so he can finally leave the Robin’s role completely behind him. I don’t know how I want it to look like though, I just want it to be capeless (I would like to believe that it’s a tradition for every Batboy to go capeless after they stop being Robin) also I wouldn’t mind if his costume had a new color not used by anyone in the Batfam, maybe orange?
With Damian, I may like his version of the Robin’s outfit the most, but I feel that recently they have been over-exaggerating how long his tunic and cape are, I much prefer his pre-Rebirth Robin’s costume, but I guess sometime change is good? If that’s the case then I would love it if they gave his costume a more Arabic feel and maybe make Damian have a Tim-dropping-the-green-part-of-his-Robin-costume moment, but instead he drops the red part and goes with green and yellow instead, I did photoshop his costume to look like that if you’re interested.
And Lastly Duke, at the beginning I didn’t like how they gave him a yellow costume because I associated that color too much with Babs, but over time I got over it, although I still think his costume is still too “Power Ranger-y” if that makes sense? I think it has something to do with helmet, so I think it would be for the best if they gave him a domino mask and a hoodie instead. (but honestly I’m kinda neutral about his current costume, so I wouldn’t be mind if they just gave him a new one instead)

The very large, extended Bat-family
“Batmans Greatest Case”. Detective Comics # 1000. By Tom King, art Tony S. Daniel and Joëlle Jones.
As of April 2019, this is the latest Bat-family photo (disregarding the inconsistencies about the characters current suits and whereabouts and relationships...) But have you seen the earlier Bat-family portraits – and do you know all the people Batman has had as partners or protégés? If not, read on for a list of people (vigilantes or people permitted in the cave, so no police officers) that Batman has trained and/or worked with in Gotham.
Art by Norm Breyfogle (early 1990s).
Art by Dick Giordano (late 1960s or 1970s´).
Art by Sheldon Moldoff (early 1960s).
(The date mentioned in the following list is the character’s first appearance in DC, it’s not always in connection with Batman.)
Dick Grayson (Robin, Nightwing, Batman, Agent 37). Cover date is April but the issue was released March 5, 1940 (source: heykidscomics.fandom.com)
Batman: Prelude to the wedding. Nightwing vs Hush. By Tim Seeley, art Travis G. Moore.
Selina Kyle (Catwoman). Spring, 1940.
”Claws of the Catwoman.” Batman # 42. By Bill Finger, art Charles Paris.
Basil Karlo (Clayface). June 1940.
Used to be a villain, but has worked with Batman’s team in Detective Comics recently.
Detective Comics # 942. By Steve Orlando and James Tynion IV, art Andy MacDonald.
Alfred Beagle/Pennyworth. April 1943.
Alfred’s first surname was Beagle. That Alfred was later explained as the Alfred of Earth-Two, the universe of the DC Golden age stories (though we have seen Golden age stories being canon in the main DC universe, too). On Earth-Two, Bruce and Selina married and had a daughter, Helena. Dick continued as Robin as an adult. Alfred was first called Pennyworth in November 1969.
”Here comes Alfred.” Batman vol 1 # 16. By Don Cameron, art Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, George Roussos.
Nightwing vol 2 # 86. By Devin Grayson, art Patrick Zircher, Andy Owens, Sean Parsons.
Dinah Drake Lance/Laurel Lance (Black Canary). August 1947.
Member of the Birds of Prey and Justice Leauge. The Golden age Black Canary was, at least for a while, considered the current Black Canary’s mother but I’m not sure what the story is after Flashpoint.
Birds of Prey # 22. By Chuck Dixon, art Butch Guice and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Jimmy. December 1948.
A blind boy that Batman trained in secret for one adventure, making Dick fear that he was going to be replaced.
”The Second Boy Wonder”. Batman # 50. Art Bob Kane, Lew Sayre Schwartz, Charles Paris.
Ace. June 1955.
”Ace, the Bat-Hound.” Batman # 92. By Bill Finger, art Sheldon Moldoff and Stan Kaye.
John Vance (Batman, Junior). May 1956.
A schoolboy who witnessed a crime. Since his parents were away, Batman blindfolded him and took him to the Batcave and put him in a suit to hide his identity while Batman went after the criminals.
“Batman, Junior.” In Detective Comics # 231. By Edmond Hamilton, art Sheldon Moldoff and Charles Paris.
Kathy Kane (Batwoman). July 1956.
Kathy Kane has been re-installed as the original Batwoman but with a different backstory. She is related by marriage to Kate Kane.
”The Batwoman”. Detective Comics # 233. By Edmond Hamilton, art Sheldon Moldoff and Stan Kaye.
Betty Kane (Batgirl). April 1961.
Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths the original Batgirl was reimagined as Bette Kane. As far as I know, Bette was never Batgirl or worked with Batman. In different continuities, she has used the aliases Flamebird, Pleve and Hawkfire.
”Bat-Girl”. Batman # 139. By Bill Finger, art Sheldon Moldoff and Charles Paris.
Barbara Gordon (Batgirl, Oracle). January 1967.
Detective Comics # 359. By Gardner Fox, cover art Carmine Infantino, Murphy Anderson, Ira Schnapp.
Julia Remarque/Pennyworth (Penny-Two, Tuxedo One). April 1981.
Alfred’s daughter. Pre-Crisis she was a journalist and for a while romantic interest for Bruce. After Rebirth, she was reimagined as a British reconnaissance agent who for a while coordinated the Bat-family’s work.
Batman # 395. By Doug Moench, art Tom Mandrake.
Jason Todd (Robin, Red Hood). March 1983.
Batman # 368. By Doug Moench, cover art Ed Hannigan, Dick Giordano, Anthony Tollin.
Tatsu Yamashiro (Katana). July 1983.
Sometime member of the Outsiders and the Birds of Prey.
Who’s Who: The Definite Directory of the DC Universe # 12. Art by Jim Aparo.
Onyx Adams (Onyx). January 1985.
Nightwing # 97. By Devin Grayson, art Mike Lilly and Andy Owens.
Helena Bertinelli (Batgirl, Huntress, Matron). April 1989.
When Helena Bertinelli was introduced she was based on Earth-Two Helena Wayne, daughter of Bruce and Selina Kyle, and who was wiped from existence by Crisis of Infinite Earths. The original Earth-Two Helena Wayne made her first appearance in November/December 1977; she was re-introduced in New 52 on Earth-2, one of the 52 universes in the new DC multiverse. Together with the Power Girl of Earth-2, she somehow ended up on Prime-Earth. Don’t ask me if/where she is now.
Nightwing/Huntress # 1. By Devin Grayson, art Greg Land and Bill Sienkiewicz.
Tim Drake (Robin, Red Robin). August 1989.
Robin vol 4 # 0. By Chuck Dixon, art Tom Grammet and Ray Kryssing.
Harold Allnut. December 1989
Lived in the Batcave and served as technological aide; one of the things he designed was the fingerstripe Nightwing suit.
Batman # 458. By Alan Grant, art Norm Breyfogle and Steve Mitchell.
Nightwing vol 1 # 2. By Dennis O’Neil, art Greg Land and Mike Sellers.
Ace. May 1991.
Batman # 465. By Alan Grant, art Norm Breyfogle and Steve Mitchell.

Batman and Robin Eternal # 26. By Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, art Scot Eaton, Carlo Pagulayan, Igor Vitorino, Marc Deering, Wayne Faucher, Jason Paz.
Sasha Bordeaux. (Black Kings Bishop, Black Queen). December 2000.
The 10 cent adventure. By Greg Rucka, art Rick Burnett and Klaus Janson.
Gavin King (Orpheus). October 2001.
Detective Comics # 797. By Andersen Gabrych, art Pete Woods and Nathan Massengill.
Kate Kane (Batwoman). June 2006.
Batman vol 3 # 7. By Steve Orlando and Tom King. Art Riley Rossmo.
Damian Wayne (Robin, Redbird). September 2006.
A reinterpretation of the unnamed child in the, at the time, non-canon graphic novel ”Batman: Son of the Demon” from 1987.
Batman and Robin vol 1 # 1. By Grant Morrison, cover art Frank Quitely.
Harper Row (Bluebird). March 2012 (as an unnamed woman, September 2011).

A Hypothetical Mapping of Marv Wolfman’s Teen Titans Run Into Omnibuses
I tried to figure out what would be decent cutoff points for New Teen Titans omnibuses based on the size of the three new editions released/solicited. This also doubles as an abridged chronicle of the run.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 1 - already released DC Comics Presents 26, New Teen Titans Vol 1 1-20, Tales of the New Teen Titans 1-4 The big kickoff to one of the best superhero runs of all time. All Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Introduction of Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Deathstroke, and more.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 2 - coming in February New Teen Titans Vol 1 21-40, Tales of the Teen Titans 41, Annual 1-2, Batman and the Outsiders 5 The main developments here are Brother Blood and Starfire's Tamaran connections. Terra and the Vigilante get introduced.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 3 - coming in July Tales of the Teen Titans 42-58, New Teen Titans Vol 2 1-9 The Judas Contract, shit goes to 11 for the Teen Titans, Terra, Deathstroke. Dick Grayson becomes Nightwing. Jericho is introduced as a new core member. The series gets so popular that it gets the Baxter treatment. Which means getting printed on nicer paper with less ads. Which came with a renumbering I guess. The opening of that volume seems to resolve Raven's plotline (which was also the genesis for the team in the first place). The Titans defeat her father and she disappears.
George Perez also ends his continuous run as penciler for the series with Vol 2 #5. Most of the major plots up to this point are resolved. These are the only solicited volumes right now. So this is actually a good jumping off point.
So what might come next?
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 4 New Teen Titans Vol 2 10-25, Annual 1-2, Teen Titans Spotlight 1-6, Omega Men 34-35 Classic DC artist Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez follows up Perez for a short stint. Kole is introduced. But then quickly killed alongside Aquagirl and Dove in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Which will impact some Titans history for a while. Starfire is forced into a political wedding, which pushes away Dick. Roy Harper discovers he has a daughter with the villain Cheshire. Among all this chaos, Donna Troy tries to assemble mismatched pieces like Jason Todd to lead the Titans.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 5 New Teen Titans Vol 2 26-49, Annual 3-4, Infinity Inc 45 Eduardo Barreto is now the consistent artist on the book. The team finds Raven again and defeats Brother Blood again. They encounter the Wildebeest Society, which will factor heavily into the book as time goes on. An annoying kid named Danny Chase joins the team. They help out Dial H for Hero and Red Star.
Besides those JLGL issues and a few major plot points for characters, this chunk is a valley rather than a peak, but it’s not really bad. Wolfman has claimed in interviews that he was suffering from writer’s block for a few years. So there are some repetitive plots.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 6 New Titans 50-69, Annual 5-6, Batman 440-441, Secret Origins Annual 3 Eduardo Barreto is gone. But who better to replace him than the return of George Perez? The side effects of the Crisis are really starting to be felt across the DCU. First on the docket is to fix Donna Troy's continuity for the second time in the Who is Wonder Girl story. She becomes Troia. The next issue addresses some Titans West stuff. Then the Secret Origins Annual recaps and fixes the entire Titans continuity post-Crisis. Perez drops off from drawing the book and then from co-plotting. He's still writing Wonder Woman and gearing up for the War of the Gods crossover, so maybe he was too busy. Bat fans should recognize those issues as half of A Lonely Place of Dying, which handed the Robin mantle to Tim Drake.
Again, another stopping point. Perez is now 100% done with the Titans besides drawing the cover for the final issue of the series. The stability of the book is about to be all over the place too.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 7 New Titans 70-92, Annual 8, Team Titans 1-3, Deathstroke 14-16 Two huge controversial storylines here. Tom Grummett (Superboy, Robin) is now the artist, with a more cartoony but also 90s style. The original Titans Hunt featured the Wildbeest Society hunting the Titans. Spoilers for a 30 year old story, but Jericho is revealed to be leading them. His father (Deathstroke for the clueless) kills him and helps the Titans in the finale. Some D-listers like Red Star, Pantha, Phantasm, and Baby Wildebeest join the team. Raven and Cyborg are constantly changing. Titans Tower is destroyed. Then right after that insanity, a team of weird Titans from a future timeline appear. One of them seems to be the long dead Terra. They want to kill Donna Troy because allegedly her baby is basically the Anti-Christ. Turns out that's not true and these alternate future peeps just stick around for a while.
Depending on who you ask, Titans Hunt and Total Chaos are 90s trash or an exciting uptick in the history of the Titans with a blockbuster story and lots of status quo changes. However, past this point the book officially devolves into standard 1990s fare and loses a ton of focus.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 8 New Titans 93-114, Annual 9-10, Sell-Out Special, Showcase 94 11 The book is kind of shit now, but not absolute shit for some of this. A major editor left and Wolfman is running out of ideas. Roy Harper comes back and becomes Arsenal. Nightwing and Starfire get engaged, only for their wedding to be absolutely ruined by Raven. Tom Grummett leaves and is replaced by a very 90s nobody. Everyone you care about leaves the team at the end of this.
New Teen Titans Omnibus Vol 9 New Titans 0, 115-130, Annual 11, Deathstroke 48-49, Green Lantern Vol 3 65, Darkstars 32, 34, Damage 16 And we reach the end of the journey with the final volume. With a broken team and Zero Hour allowing for soft reboots, Arsenal assembles a new one. Featuring characters you like such as Donna Troy, Kyle Rayner, Impulse, Damage, and Terra (the fake one). Or at least you liked them if you were still reading comics in 1995 for some reason. That shitty 90s artist is even gone and replaced by someone tolerable. But it's totally lost the flavor that made the book so genius 10-15 years before. Fans were completely burned out from the direction and the industry at large, so the book was canceled.
My divisions are based mostly on natural cutoff points and also shooting for similar sized volumes. The three existing volumes all sit around that 24-27 issue mark.
So depending on what kind of Titans fan one is, the options would be 1-3, 1-6, 1-7, 1-8, or 1-9. It seems like each omnibus is about 3 trades, with some wiggle room.
Addendums:
Teen Titans Spotlight is a 21 issue spinoff series created so that Titans related characters could have solo stories that wouldn't work in the context of a team book. Wolfman only wrote 1-6, an arc about Starfire dealing with South African apartheid and a Jericho arc. No other issues are really integral to the main plots. So these are the only ones that make sense in these collections, if at all.
Other semi-significant Spotlight stories though: -7-8 - Hawk in the period after his brother's death but before Dawn Granger pops up -9 - Changeling (Beast Boy) doing some more reconnecting with his Doom Patrol past -10 - Aqualad, technically does continue from a main series plot, but who cares -13 - JMS' first comics work on a Cyborg vs Two-Face story -15 - picks up on some Tamaranian plots, but effectively a minor epilogue to the 80s Omega Men series -21 - a Silver Age throwback issue from Mark Evanier and Dan Spiegle
Team Titans is the book starring the alternate future characters that no one cares about besides Terra. First three issues are part of Total Chaos. The damn book somehow lasted 24 issues though. Wolfman was involved in the writing of the first half. There is really no reason to include those other 9 issues. And the series is totally pointless and bad.
New Titans ends in 1996. Also when Wolfman's other ongoing Titans work ends. That being Deathstroke Vol 1, which lasted 60 issues. Giving the Terminator his own book was majorly inspired by the success Marvel was having with the Punisher. The first 34 issues are all drawn by the same artist, Steve Erwin. Past issue 40, Slade is framed for murder and all kinds of DCU characters try and take him down. His daughter Rose is introduced here.
Just like the main Titans book, sales were lagging hard near the end. So they did some stupid thing where Slade literally walked out of an explosion a changed man. He was de-aged, had amnesia, a dumb new color scheme, and a new artist. It was stupid and didn't help sales.
DC has been reprinting this Deathstroke series alongside New Teen Titans. They're up to four volumes, getting to #25. The early half of this run is actually good and a decent companion piece to Titans. And obviously people are digging Rebirth Deathstroke now. Wolfman did a major plot with Batman before Christopher Priest. Avoid all N52 Deathstroke junk.
Marv Wolfman's Titans run is just over 15 years. A couple years short of Claremont's legendary X-Men run. Though Claremont also wrote and maneuvered around a wider line of closely related spinoffs. Claremont also maintained a higher average. Those first five years of NTT with Perez can rival the heights of Claremont though. Maybe blasphemous, but I find Perez more interesting than Byrne. Then there are occasional highs for another seven years or so.
For comparison, Claremont's complete original X-Men run sits at a similar 10 oversized hardcover volumes or so. Though they're a little larger on average. 1. UXM Vol 1 2. Vol 2 3. Vol 3 4. Eventual Vol 4 5. Mutant Massacre/uncollected gap 6. Fall of the Mutants 7. Inferno Prologue 8. Inferno 9. Claremont and Lee Vol 1 10. X-Tinction Agenda/Claremont and Lee Vol 2

What about this issue has you conflicted?
Spoiler Alert!
Okay so first of all, I enjoyed the moments between Dick and Bruce. I liked the flashback scene that showed Alfred looking out for Dick and telling Bruce to leave Batman at the door before going to talk to Dick.
I also liked that we got to see Bruce being a protective father when he stepped in front of Dick during the Blockbuster confrontation. I feel like Bruce will always have that instinct to protect Dick no matter how old Dick is because he did it for so long when Dick was growing up. But... this moment was also sliiightly annoying in the sense that it followed the same pattern that we've seen in previous issues by having someone do something for Dick that he should be doing himself.
Dick is a confrontational type of person and he could easily backtalk Blockbuster instead of needing Bruce to do that for him. So on one hand, I liked that Bruce was being a good dad here by jumping in to protect Dick, but on the other hand, I wish Dick didn't act as passive. Although, I guess I can't exactly fault him for trying to diffuse the situation when he has to maintain his public persona, but I don't know, I guess I just want to see a little more fire in him instead of the nonchalant attitude Taylor usually gives him and Babs.
Other than that, this was yet another guest appearance issue (Dick has yet to have one single issue all to himself omfg kill me now). We got both Bruce and Jon this time around (plus Alfred from the flashback). I gotta admit that I was a bit disappointed that Bruce only brought Ace with him. I really wish he would've brought Titus too 😭.
Not a lot happened in this issue. It was basically just a push of Dick's conviction that he'll always jump in to help others no matter the cost. We did finally get to see Heartless make a reappearance towards the end though. Fucking finally. Dick's forgotten all about him and has only been focusing on issues related to Blockbuster or his philanthropy work.
I will say that the Marv & George pizza bit did make me tear up a little 😭. Dick waving to George is so bittersweet.

As much dissatisfaction with Taylor’s run as I have, that scene of Bruce actually being a good BatDad to a hurt Robin!Dick instead of immediately benching him like RYO is just (chef’s kiss)
Their conversation definitely would've went differently and had a more similar vibe to the RYO situation had Alfred not stepped in (and, by the way, I don't like how Bruce's first instinct was to yell at Dick for disobeying him rather than seeing if he was okay). Luckily Bruce calmed down and collected himself before entering the room which gave us the lovely scene of him holding Dick's hand. I feel like that hand hold conveyed his worry so much better than any amount of yelling would have. So cheers to that.

I feel like the Marv & George pizza cameo would have been sweeter if Dick has been walking down by himself. Like a legacy piece. Idk maybe I’m reading too much into it. Or this run is just annoying me in general and I’m being too harsh.
You're right, it would've been sweeter. I've come to accept the fact that Taylor is always going to have Dick and Babs stuck together like leeches. I just tried to pretend like she wasn't there during that particular moment.
#impressive how taylor can incite rage in me simply by throwing babs into a scene#like sir you and the other rebirth writers are truly testing meee#Nightwing 92 spoilers#tuesday spoilers#anon
