Review:  Betrothed to the Emperor (Emperor’s Assassin Book 1) by Kai Butler
Rating: 4.5🌈 Kai Butler’s new fantasy series, Emperor’s Assassin, gets off to a fast, and absolutely magical start with Betrothed to the Emperor.  Right from the beginning, Butler plunges the reader and her protagonist into a strange, and mystical realm where the wealthy are masked by not only the makeup and outfits they wear but the rigidity of the culture and politics of the Empire that has…

I don't set big achievements for my books because tbf I just enjoy writing them...this time my goal was 250 preorders for my October release, I have 235 😳 which is edging closer so I'm thinking could possibly go over that 😉
Anyway, I like to make my very filthy books look pretty...and I can't share this on social media as I'm going for the element of surprise 😂 but look how pretty the ebook will look 😍

Essie and Adrian’s story was emotional messy and beautiful my heart ached for everything they went through especially Essie my god that prologue was so devastating I was crying at the end of the chapter! I really enjoyed being back in Blue Beech with the second generation I loved the witty banter but boy oh boy do these two walk a thin line between love and hate ! And all that delicious enemies to lovers tension between them was so good . I love Charity Ferrell as an author her writing is so heart felt rather it’s small town romance or mafia romance and the spice is always top notch ! Loved this book in this series it can be read as a stand-alone and it is the second book that’s part of the Only you series. Definitely a must read and definitely gets my five star approval!
CW/TW - car accident and someone dies it’s on page .
Mentions of drunk driving
Death/grief
I honestly can’t think of anything else but there might be more triggers idk what you consider a trigger I probably won’t so always check for yourself.

When a guy breaks your heart, he’s not supposed to move to your small town to win it back.
I hoped to never see Adrian Castillo again after he broke my heart.
Years later, he’s made it his mission to keep running into me.
He gets hired at the law firm where I work and steals my promotion.
I quit and start my own firm in my small town.
I didn’t expect him to follow me here.
I definitely didn’t expect him to join a rival town firm.
And now, we have a case against each other.
All the emotions I had for him resurface.
I’m afraid to give him my heart again.
But fate has other plans.

Book Review for Love You, Mean It
Tumblr media
As the first book I’ve read by Jilly Gagnon, I applaud her attention to detail in character and environment creation. “Love You, Mean It” delves into the demolition and reconstruction of its two main characters, reminding us that the stories we tell ourselves can be dangerously convincing—often holding us back from chasing our hopes and dreams due to a fear of the unknown.
Returning to your small town might seem cliché for most, but for Ellie, it was a bit like becoming a hero. Okay, calling herself a hero might be overstating it, but she wasn’t about to force her grandparents out of retirement. After her dad passed away, her New York City dreams had to be put on hold as she decided to take over the family legacy. Fast forward five years, and life in the small town of Milborough hasn’t changed—until Mimi returns for a city council meeting, only to learn that a major chain, Mangia, might be moving in. Ellie knows her family’s deli can’t compete with such a giant, so she does the only sensible thing: try to reason with Theo, the (hopefully more compassionate) son of Ted, who owns most of the property in town. What should have been a calm, professional meeting goes off the rails when Ellie’s mouth gets ahead of her. Before she can apologize and regain control, an accident sends Theo to the hospital. As if things weren’t hard enough for Ellie, Theo wakes up with amnesia and believes Ellie is his fiancée (how else was she going to get into his hospital room to apologize, right? Just one little white lie!). Now, Ellie has two options: use Theo’s amnesia to her advantage to cancel the Mangia deal, or come clean and try to fix things before the accident. Turns out two can play this game, as Ellie finds out Theo has a plan of his own.
Overall, “Love You, Mean It” may not be for everyone. For those who love deep inner thoughts and vivid descriptions that paint an elaborate picture of each situation, this book is ideal. For those who prefer sticking with the banter, the interactions between characters, shorter chapters, and easy story progression— they may find this book a little tedious at times.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House for allowing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Rating: 4.5🌈 Seb & Ailin: Case of the Murderous Mistletoe  By Michele Notaro is a wonderfully entertaining, well written holiday story in the author’s Ellwood/Brinnswick universe.   Full of characters and couples from Notaro’s multi-series world, it is helpful if the reader is familiar with the universe and its inhabitants so that the story isn’t overwhelming with its numerous elements and…

Book Review for Hazel and Elijah Find Out
Tumblr media
Having read “Just Fake Married” by Marty Vee, I have a true appreciation for her female protagonists. The personalities they project and the inner turmoil make them such well-rounded and relatable characters. Hazel was no exception in “Hazel and Elijah Find Out.” I feel that this was more established in the prequel, “Hazel and Elijah Don’t Get Caught,” and I will reference the importance of reading it first several times, as it may have an impact on how this story appeals to you.
Being invisible in the small town of Grand Ridge is a life to which Hazel had become accustomed. That was until a gorgeous pair of green eyes turned her world upside down. For one blissful night, the man she had coveted since high school was hers. Fifteen months later, despite seeing Dennis and attempting to move on, Elijah was still the only man she wanted. If it weren’t for his father, Dr. March, they could have had something. Instead, to protect her acquisition of the vet clinic, he skipped town. Holding onto his number, which she had gotten from his friends, she still hadn’t found the courage to contact him. Little did she know, Elijah couldn’t let her go either, and despite the animosity of his so-called hometown, he was willing to face the consequences to see her again. The problem is, was invisibility so bad when all eyes are on you, the legendary bad boy, and the only option left to save your business is a bachelor auction? Thrust into the spotlight, Hazel has to decide if the feelings she had for Elijah are worth the scrutiny she now has to endure or if it was better being the good girl everyone knew and loved.
If it were possible to place “Hazel and Elijah Don’t Get Caught” inside of “Hazel and Elijah Find Out” as a prologue or Part One, I think this would greatly improve the readers’ experience. Otherwise, the book on its own, while enjoyable, may leave some feeling a little disjointed but still entertained. I can’t wait to see what else Marty creates within this series. She has piqued my interest with the possibility of Nora and Brooks, so hopefully, we have more fascinating tales from Grand Ridge coming soon.
Thank you Marty Vee for allowing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
