just something so crazy about it. you spend years of your life chasing after half-written happy endings you know you're not meant to have, but take a chance on anyway. just because you find a penny lying heads-up on the same chilly dusk evening you've found out you're in love with your best friend: luck is telling you against the odds that there will be sprawls of life grown from gravel in the wake of this. only for all those things to fall to the wayside, dried leaves marking the grave of an old-but-not-forgotten dead garden. something or other about how the past fades but never disappears. you try to clear away withered old roses and thorns for a touch of new life and get so wrapped up in the scent of flora that you don't notice things have never really changed; not until you start to pay attention to the crunch of dead leaves under your feet under the summer sun.

So... something that I noticed: there’s a direct cut between these two scenes, and Erik’s hand is not where it actually landed on the second shot.

And it just striked me how close he actually was to cupping Charles’ face in that moment, or stroking his cheek, you can see it--

I don’t know if it was a deliberate decision to make Erik move his hand away so as not to make the gesture too intimate, but you know what? Either way it makes it even better. It means that Erik didn’t just hold Charles still, he grasped at him, either stroking his chest or just trying to clutch at him tighter, making sure that he was still there, still alive, and that maybe, just maybe, he didn’t quite dare to touch Charles’ face.

This heartbreaking scene just became a tad more heartbreaking for me, wow.

shotout to this one scene from the x-men first class international trailer bc to this day I still wake up in a cold sweat thinking about it.

funniest thing is, i wouldn't even know what context this falls under, bc in this scene charles is begging erik on his knees and hands like plsplspls I know shaw killed your mom and tortured you but maybe don't kill him plspls so I have NO idea as to why erik would be looking at him like THIS

he's giving him the same look at the end of dark phoenix. which could mean nothing.
