Life-Saving Minecraft Tips that I almost never see anyone else using (am I just bad at the game...?)

Always carry a bucket of water in your hotbar, especially if you're going caving.

Keep a Warped Fungus handy when traversing the Nether. Hoglins can't attack you if you're standing near a Warped Fungus. I also like to keep a Flower Pot on me just in case I run into a pack of Hoglins somewhere I can't place the fungus directly on the ground.

Use potions. Idk if it's just the kinds of lets-players I watch or what, but I can't believe how many people are sleeping on these.

Night Vision for the Deep Dark (Nether Wart + Golden Carrot). Keeps you from waking up the Warden with a single careless torch placement, and also negates the Darkness effect if you activate a Shrieker.

Invisibility Potions for death runs back to your items (Night Vision Potion + Fermented Spider Eye)

Slow Falling for the Ender Dragon fight (Nether Wart + Phantom Membrane)

Fire Resistance negates like 85% of the danger in the Nether (Nether Wart + Magma Cream)

Adding some Redstone Dust to any potion will increase the duration of its effects to 8 minutes. Three max-duration potions will keep you covered for a little more than one full day-night cycle.

Wool blocks are soundproof (but carpets aren't 😕). Completely covering a Skulk Sensor or Chest with wool blocks before interacting with it will prevent chain reactions from other Sensors.

Set up a safe base with a bed at world spawn (usually around coordinates 0, 0) so that you don't have to sprint buck naked through the night if you lose your respawn point.

I actually like to put my main base near world spawn because I easily get disoriented when trying to navigate by coordinates alone, and it's much simpler for me to just follow a Compass back home (I think that's an exclusive-to-Niki problem tho. I've never heard of anyone else wanting to do this 😅).

This is only tangentially related, but I can remember a time when Zombies dropped Feathers instead of Rotten Flesh. You'd think I wouldn't die so often, having played this game for almost 13 years...

Nether & Warped Wart Blocks

The "wart" blocks in Minecraft are interesting in that they basically don't have a ton of straight forward use. Compacting Nether Wart into a Block of Nether Wart doesn't let you uncraft it unlike other compacted blocks, and Warped Wart Block doesn't even have a Warped Wart item assigned to it, as it only exists for the fungi in the Nether. I wanted to add some more decorative blocks so you can do something with all the foliage. Cut Wart, Wart Bricks, and Mosiac Wart blocks were just some of the ideas I came up with.

Minecraft theory(?)/lore(?) post: Ender corruption in the Overworld vs. Nether - a looooooong post.

In Minecraft Dungeons' Overworld DLC levels, we see the Orb of Dominance's shards corrupt various islands' environments, creating hostile mobs out of plant life (jungle awakens and hidden depths' plant mobs)...

changing the climate (creeping winter - "A creeping winter spreads across the land, consuming everything it touches")...

empowering and/or corrupting mobs (creeping winter's Wretched Wraith, Hidden Depths' Ancient Guardian, Howling Peaks' Tempest Golem)....

These are abilities we can chalk up to End magic from the Orb.

However, in the Nether, it's completely different in both vanilla and MCD. In Warped Forests where only Endermen live, Fungi go from red to blue, inverting their colors, much like Enderlings' vision. Vines stop growing from the ceiling, and instead sprout from the floor, in the same shape as the native chorus vines of the End rather than based on the weeping vines.

Fungal root growths gain circular bulbs, which in Minecraft Dungeons glow - in fact, so much more things start glowing than in comparison to the crimson forest, reminiscent of the End's glowing plants.

And fungi that explode if pressed too hard, with poisonous properties, start growing.

And in Minecraft Legends, the warped fungi all completely glow, and there are other species of warped fungi that explode, carried by Seekers and Sporebacks!

So since we know how/why/when (when the orb shattered) for the Overworld, the questions remain for the Nether: HOW, WHEN, and WHY THE DIFFERENCE?

HOW and WHEN can be chalked up to one simple artifact, which we know has been in the Nether at some point in time.

Of course, it's the Orb of Dominance itself. In Minecraft Legends, we see it in the possession of the Seer.

So its presence in the Nether corrupted Crimson forests into Warped Forests just as it corrupted the Overworld, right?

Well, yes. But it must have happened eons ago, as Warped forests already exist, and an entire horde/tribe of Piglins already resides in one such forest, already being an entire subspecies, with boils, warts and colored patches on pale skin.

So we can assume the Orb arrived long, long ago - even longer ago than how long ago the Overworld-Piglin War takes place.

So... WHY THE DIFFERENCE between the Overworld and Nether Corruption?

Well, the Overworld's case was individual shards - fragments of this broken entity, while in the Nether's case it was the entire Orb.

Adding onto this, the shards likely only had enough power to corrupt mobs (except the Wretched Wraith's shard, which manipulated the entire climate of the island, which we can chalk up to the fact that it's a larger shard, seen on its head, versus the other shards we see.

Meanwhile, the entire orb entering the Nether meant that it could corrupt the biome down to the blocks, making them teal, changing plant structure (warped vs twisting vines and vanilla's 1-block crimson vs warped fungi), and in some depictions various fungi have glowing spots (MCD) or the shroom caps glow entirely (MCL).

An extra addition: Why are there multiple warped forests across the Nether, then?

Well, the Endermen that came along with the Orb must take their cuboid master from place to place, right?

Grian: Nether wart can actually be really useful at this point in the game-

Martyn: Yeah! maybe. But Its not worth loosing an IOU!

Pearl: I mean, good for Scott I guess. The IOU didn't bite him in the back area as much as it could have.

Martyn: Who let those two do that?!? ...wait... Were they teamed up with anyone Scott?

Scott: They were...? Why do you want to know so much? Why did you take it so personally... It's litterally just nether wart... you know?

Martyn: Who is the dumbass who tought letting them go on their own was a good idea?!?

Pearl: I am bit curious as well Scott... Who is this mysterious secret third ally?

Scott: They were in an alliance...with...uhhhh... Last Life Martyn... I think? They definitely are allied later on in the game but I don't know for sure if that happened yet actually- Martyn?

Martyn: ...

Scott: Oh my gosh... Martyn? You there?

I'll describe their personalities here in case you guys need them (their my headcannons so uhh yeah):

Yellow: The smart one (aka the nerd-). He's good at problem solving and is a quick learner. He loves listening to music. He's really good with redstone and technology too!

Blue: He's a chef and LOVES to cook! He mostly makes things for his friends and attempts to try to teach them! They do end up failing though- and he's kinda (VERY) addicted to Nether Warts and will do anything to get them.

Green: He has his own YouTube channel! He likes to record and make videos for others to watch. He mostly has his friends in all his videos. He's also really good with Note Blocks. For some reason (in his imaginary cartoon pocket) he always carries around a fishing rod.

Orange (or TSC idk how he's known as): He's the bravest of the bunch. He's also very adventurous and loves to explore! He's also very empathetic and will forgive anyone (mostly).

Red: Red is more aggressive and playful than the others. He's also a bit impulsive.. He gets mad easily, so he technically has anger issues. He also LOVES to prank people. He's also very mischievous.

Technoblade secret achievement ideas (Minecraft obvi)

okay, because of Techno's newest video of what imma just call lost footage, I thought of some ways that Minecraft could put in secret achievements to honor him.

So, if you work at Mojang or know someone who does, just causally bring this into the conversation (don't say you found it on a Tumblr post)

Techo capes. Preferably free or if you get one/all of the achievements below.

Naming a pig Techo/PigKing will get you a secret achievement and attacking it will cause it to PvP you (you will die). And on the death screen say something like 'Blood for the Blood God' (also counts for piglins and brutes)

Naming an entity 'Lukas' will cause it to immediately die. Death message will say, "Lukas died from being Lukas" or something similar.

Naming a baby Villager "Orphan" will cause two random adult Villigers to die. When "Orphan" grows up, no matter the job you give it, will have op trades.

Making a shrine to the Blood God (How you summon the wither except pig/piglin heads and Nether Wart Blocks) will give you Strength, Absorbtion, Health Boost, Instant Health, Luck, Night Vision, Regeneration, Resistance, Blood Lust, and Speed.

New affect called "Blood Lust" that outlines all mobs in red. Last until you kill 10 peaceful mobs or 5 hostile mobs.

Typing 'Technoblade never dies' into chat will give all pigs around you (including piglins and brutes) his crown (and cape if they are a Brute/Piglin).

Okay that's all I got feel free to edit or combine ideas. I realize that the effect is basically just what the Spector arrows do, but I did try and give it a bit of a twist.

i have SO many thoughts about etho's build so far. oh my god. etho talks briefly about his choice of main building blocks in his video & talks a little about color theory but i want to reallly take a microscope to this because its like. insane. zoom in on this shit. LOOK AT IT. this is such an amazing display of color theory and just aauughgUHGUFCVB

this build is like. insanely colorful. there's two different shades of blue (three if you count water), two different shades of red, two shades of brown, there's bright green, there's even two shades of pink??? like if i just listed off the blocks that etho had used for this build you'd go "huh. i think that's two completely separate palettes just smushed together." but then you LOOK AT IT in action and it all works.

every color is, to some degree, everywhere. you've got the white terracotta acting as a really muted pink in the walls, the mangrove beams braced with spruce, warped planks for the roof; and then you've also got the bright red in the nether wart and the sweet berries and bright green in the gardens and blue in the pitcher plants, and the warped planks in the pond w the coral and lily pads??? there is not a single area of this build not jam-packed with color and detail and its SO FUCKING COOL.

you can really, really tell that he learned a lot about color theory when he was building the monstrosity and how to detail and it's all on show here and its so pretty. like seriously.

also can we please give etho a round of applause for building (the start of) a roof. good job man i know that's hard
