Okay, Netflix’s Platform 2 movie.
Firstly, the way they had me all for the wholesome relationship between Tragic Sad Woman and Giant Slob Man is unforgivable 😭
Secondly, the core motto of everyone in this movie is: “Don’t make me come down there and beat you with pieces of my prison bed frame” and that’s simply wild.

how can anyone get excited for anything anymore when it'll probably just get canceled after one season. how are fandoms gonna continue to flourish when they have to act as walking billboards and advertisements just so that the creators can actually tell their story in full. how can streaming services expect fans to support their favorite shows when they don't even bother advertising their own shows or making merch. how can netflix continue to market themselves as a way for creators to tell their stories without executive meddling when a well established showrunner can pitch 18 new ideas and the only ones that get approved are reboots based on previous ips. how can a show get high ratings on rotten tomatoes and praised for having good writing, representation, storytelling, music, etc. and win awards but still get canned bc god forbid someone asks for higher wages and be paid fairly for their labor. hate hate hate death to all streaming services

If I get a nickel every time I watch a show randomly and actually enjoy it, and then i find out that Netflix cancel the show. I will have three nickels.

It doesn’t even matter if I particularly cared for a show I’ll always be devastated for the fans of any show that gets cancelled. I understand that there’s financial reasons as to why a show may not be allowed to continue but at this point streaming platforms need to be asking themselves why is it that they’re cancelling all these shows? If they want a hit show it has to be given time to grow and develop its audience. And then regardless of that fact, people who have invested their time in a story deserve to see its completion. It’s so undeniably evil for corporations to continue to axe shows without warning not just for the fans of the show, but for everyone involved as well. The emotion and heart put into these pieces of media is always so visible and it’s soul crushing watching an industry throw it away. Fans and creatives deserve to see stories told with a complete arc because otherwise why are we bothering with these streaming platforms?

I love how every single time, without fail, that I have a random thought about a cool show I watched on Netflix where I’m like “Oh yeah, I remember that show. It was pretty good. When’s the next season coming out?” and the answer every single time is: “It was cancelled.”
I just found out The Irregulars isn’t getting a season 2, despite season 1 having done pretty well. Probably old news for most, but it just popped into my head and I’m like let me look it up. CUE MY COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE to find out it was cancelled.
Netflix really is the fucking worst streaming platform, bar none. So far both Hulu and Amazon have only cancelled one show that I liked, whereas Netflix has cancelled like twenty at least by now. I have zero interest in getting involved in anything that isn’t a guaranteed hit or a one-off because they’re just gonna cancel it.

[puts on my business hat]: I can't believe watcher is leaving youtube to create their own streaming service in a market where some of the biggest companies are trying to get out of the streaming business bc they've discovered how unprofitable of a business model it is.

I’m now watching Beyond Evil on Disney+ (3rd platform now lol, first was Netflix, second was Prime Video) and the English subtitles on Episode 13 are interesting.
Unlike Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video have the same subtitle when Dongsik answered Jeongje as his friend finally confessed to killing his sister: “I don’t think you killed her alone.”
I can’t remember the exact subs on Netflix since Beyond Evil isn’t there anymore, but considering I watched the Netflix version twice, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t what was on the Netflix version, which is more along the lines of: “I don’t think you killed her”—period.
And despite the slightest difference in wording, it makes a world of a difference in meaning.
In the initial autopsy by the KCSI, they mentioned that someone must have “repeatedly ran over Yuyeon” to kill her. Which means it was never really proven whether the initial impact with Han Kihwan’s car had been enough to kill her, or that she was only passed out (as the subs in both Prime Video and Disney+ also imply) and it was Jeongje’s car hitting her again that finally killed her.
Because when the KCSI studied her body, it was after both cars has already hit her, so it’s impossible to tell which of the two accidents had conclusively killed her.
(Perhaps it really was a combination of both. “I don’t think you killed her alone.”)
The difference in subtitles makes a world of a difference in the story because it means Jeongje was more culpable in her death than may have been initially shown by Netflix.

The most surprising thing about the Voltron news is the complete and utter lack of reaction from any of the BNFs who were around at the time, on the platform where the fandom was largely birthed from.
the only post I found with more than 100 notes was understandably more concerned about She-Ra 's fate after May 2026.
I don't even got nothing to say really except that it truly makes you think

the new norm of studios not only cancelling shows with diverse casts and characters after a single shortened season but then immediately removing them entirely from their platforms so no one can ever legally watch them again is gross and frustrating enough on its own, but there’s something really insidious about the fact that so many of these shows were the recipients of targeted hate campaigns before they even aired just because they were deemed to be “too woke” or “too gay” and how that plays into the larger sociopolitical landscape rn.
like tv shows are not nearly as important as the very real actual human people being hurt and affected by current and proposed legislation, but we as a community and as individuals are being told on all fronts that we can’t exist; not in real life, and not even in the escapist fantasy of television shows

the way i can't even escape the pain of losing dead boy detectives while watching other shows
i was literally watching LOST earlier and still had to pause for a few mins to try not to cry abt dbda.
because what happened to that layout? where shows were given enough time to have fully fleshed out interesting plots for every main character, even when the show has like over a dozen 'main characters'. where shows were only left on a cliffhanger intentionally, not to set something up that will likely never come.
