If Haruka's dog motifs are genuinely tied to the concept of Neotony (which, honestly I wouldn't be surprised since I've been digging into the Amane Momose Cat Parallels and that stuff goes Surprisingly Deep) does that mean Haruka killing a dog is representative of him killing the parts of himself that he considers to be the reason his mother neglects him?
Considering how Haruka kills his younger self in Weakness I think it tracks?
I think it's also possible it represents a Want to go back to the time his mother payed attention to him...Though admittedly I don't think about Haruka that much so I'm not exactly sure.
#if this is tied into the concept of Neotony uh- milgram do you have a biologist on the team or something?#Haruka also kills a cat though and cats in Milgram are generally themed around impurity disobedience and sinfulness#which is just...ah...#cw child abuse#milgram thoughts

Reposting because OP blocked me, deactivated the reblog option and told those who reblogged my addition to kill themselves because I'm a radical feminist. But I think it's valuable information. Men are trying to domesticate women and favour signs of ignorance, vulnerability and submission no matter the ethnicity and sometimes not even consciously. While women want mature men. As feminists we often talk about the link between femininity and pedophilia (most notoriously illustrated by the removal of body hair, men favoring huge age gaps, faked incompetence to make men feel stronger etc) and it's nice to have scientific evidence on the matter.
By the way the text I quoted is from wikipedia if you look into neotony.

Rainbow Axolotls (2023)
Acrylic paints on 11" x 14" wood panel. The one on the top is an example of the "wild-type" coloration, and the bottom one is supposed to be the albino coloration (obviously with a rainbow overtop!)
The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is a fully aquatic salamander closely related to the tiger salamander. They are critically endangered in the wild, with most of the population existing in captivity. The axolotl is native only to the freshwater of Lake Xochimilco in Mexico. They are popular in the pet trade and also for use as laboratory animals. They are an excellent example of neotony, where the animal reaches adulthood while retaining juvenile characteristics. In the case of the Axolotl, they retain their gills, which most salamander species lose upon becoming adults.

i wanna talk about caves gimme your cave facts
since you didnt ask for anything specific so im just gonna say whatever comes to mind
- the type of cave you probably think of, the kind with different formations and pools of mirror-like reflective water, is called a cavern, solution cave, or karst cave. these are formed when water enters a crack of soluble rock like limestone and erodes it away
- some of the other ways caves can form is by the wind or ocean. these ones look vastly different to caverns and are known for there flowing shapes. ive yet to visit a sand or sea cave yet!
- stalactites, those big rock icicles that hang from the ceiling. grow about .005 inches a year. when you go into your next solution cave, look at those stalactites and think about how long it took for them to get as big as they are
- the largest underground lake in america is called the lost sea, second only to the lake inside dragon’s breath cave in namibia. (in the non-subglacial lake category. subglacial lakes are big enough to even make me shudder
- we all know axolotls. those cute minecraft mobs that eat fish and live in caves, right? ….nope. axolotls live in freshwater lakes in mexico. they resemble cave animals like the olm because they bot exhibit neotony. neotony occurs when animals (salamanders, in the axolotl and olm’s case) retain juvenile traits instead of growing out of them
- the largest cave in the world is han son doong in vietman. son doong, along with other asian caves similar to it, is large enough to support its own rainforest ecosystem and has stalagmites over 200 feet tall. its the holy grail of caves to visit, and hopefully i’ll be able to make the trip someday!
- mammoth cave is the longest known cave system in the world, and is a solution cave. but walking into it, you dont see any of the usual cave formations. thats because the cap of the mountain much of mammoth rests under is shale, which is less soluble than rocks like limestone and gypsum. that didnt stop the green river from carving it out from underneath, though. the green river still flows through mammoth and occasionally floods some passages in the wet season.
thats all i can think of! if anyone wants to know more specific stuff i will gladly tell you as much as i know

That's such a good point did you know that the floppy ears are likely a result from the genes that make them so sweet and baby like and so therefore it's literally in their GENES to be soft little babies
hey 🕺🏻
Hello. 💃 (do you ever think about dogs)

i always thoght trolls where like axolotl atleast mutants and limebloods.
axolotls stay entirely Aquatic their entire life unlike most salamanders, because they are in a state of Neotony..
but they be forced to metamorphcis under controlled conditions to become landdwellers.
its the only case i know where some of a species is aquatic and others landdwellerd
Axolotls where also assoiated with the Nahua god of disabled
They're similar in some ways I guess, though sea dwellers don't need to go underwater at all to live as seen with Eridan. Troll biology's a confusing mess of mixed traits xd

Olm please. They’re like Axolotls but for caves
They're not "like axolotls but for caves". Both the olm and the axolotl are neotenic species of salamander, but neotony has been observed in all salamander families.
Beyond stuff that applies to all or most salamanders, the similarities kind of end. The olm is unique in that it lives in flooded caves, and it has a lot of adaptations specifically to surviving there. The axolotl on the other hand lives in mountain lakes* and is fairly similar to other salamanders that live in such habitats. So the olm is just generally a cave salamander, instead of specifically being like an unrelated species.
*or used to, until most of the lakes they lived in were drained

Im going through all the dogs in my head and yeah it all lines up pretty well-
First of all, Neotony is defined as "retention of some larval or immature characters in adulthood" it is also known as juvenilization because the idea is that these traits are only seen in juvenile members of the species. Humans can experience neotony but we specifically bred dogs to have neotenized traits. Second: Not a biologist...at all! Just some guy who knows too many animal facts! Plus I'm using this concept in loose metaphorical terms. Neotony is usually connected to physical traits but it does show up mentally in ways such as decreased aggression.
Anyways the Big Ones:
Haruka: ...Okay do I need to explain this one? Haruka both wants to return back to being a "child" where he was loved and cared for and hates the "weak" parts of himself. When he killed dogs he, in the process, destroyed the idea that he could "be a child again."
(Note: Haruka also kills a Cat which...Cat=Sin fans we stay Winning!) John: John is a "dog's name" and has refereed to himself as a "newborn" and wishes he wasn't "born" Once again connecting being a dog to being a "child," plus there's also the children noises in Double.
(Note: Tsuwmya has covered over Here ideas of age and maturity in relation to milgram characters and for Mikoto she put them down as "an adult that wants to become an adult" talking about how he has a lack of control in his life and even though he wants to be an adult and taken seriously by the people around him, he isn't. Go read the post its good) Kotoko: Notably Kotoko has Wolves and not Dogs, the non-domesticated, non-juvenilized version of dogs. However Kotoko herself has a lot of child-related imagery and concepts. Her name is written with the kanji for "child" she has a connection to Little Red Riding Hood and tells Amane that she was "the way she is now by her age" not growing or changing past being twelve. Tsuwmya's post actually covers it really well how she's an child stuck as an adult forced to be a child.
Other various details: Amane (I GOT HER IN!) has a dog Magic.
Notably unlike the cream cat (which is collared) and Her Cat (which well...dies and is also a representation of her and her sin) the bunny and the dog are uncollared (domesticated without the need of something to control them)
Magic is notably child-like in it's art direction too.
Mahiru:
Admittedly this one alluded me but Tsuwmya's post strikes again! Mahiru is an adult stuck as a child! The dog isn't too relevant to her but ay it works with my point! Would also like to mention the line that goes over here is:
We fought sometimes, I was happy to get hurt
So that's interesting.
Kazui: Family dog that is At His Parents House. Kazui has a notably bad relationship with his family and doesn't want to be an adult and deal with adult responsibilities. Yet he doesn't Really want to be a child because that means doing what his Parents want him to do and having the pressure on him.
Note again: We caused the Neotony in dogs! Each character's "childishness" can be traced back to something. Haruka was neglcted and abused, Mikoto is overworked and disrespected, Kotoko presumably had something in her past, Amane...I will talk forever if I say hers so I wont, Mahiru was sheltered, Kazui is trapped in the pressures of society.
So yeah...I think someone on the Milgram team must Really like Animals.

Racial dimorphism in elves
Drow, or Dark Elves:
-They tend to be quite neotenous, with big eyes, small noses and gracile bodies, even on elven standards.
-They tend to be shorter.
-They are nocturnal.
-Their ears be much larger, sometimes the same length as their heads.
-Their heads tend to be proportionally slightly bigger in relation to the rest of their bodies. It's mostly a stress response during bone maturation that causes this difference.
-In contrast to their otherwise neotonous features, they experience graying and ear drooping much earlier, sometimes as early as their early to mid twenties. In a human population, it would be the equivalent of middle schoolers all starting to experience hair greying.
-They are more prone to blindess and hairloss, although it's not caused as much for genetics as it's caused by lifestyle, and the added cortisol caused by the endorphine blockers they consume.
-In terms of societies, after the "Elven Hunts" and the hiding, their societies, even after re-entry to the outside world, are highly dependant on these endorphine blockers and genital beatings. Imagine just that during the course of 10-15 generations, nearly 100% of the population has cold turkey in combination with chronic pain in the groin, mixted with little to no contact with individuals who don't have these conditions. While some history and experiences with the paranormal might mitigate this somewhat, a tiny, tiny bit, it would make the question of unwanted pregnancies absolutely ludicrous. Such societies would have little to no use for contraception, nor policies to limit the number of children being born. Add in to that only a third to a half of their population of age to procreate is fertile, and having enough babies to stave extinction would be a constant struggle.
Ice Elves:
-Fairly low neotony, with in adulthood longer faces with narrower eyes and longer noses.
-Smaller head to body ratio.
-Their ears are the size of human ears, and only have a little point.
-They age at a far more normal rate than Drow, and are healthier.

#aFactADay2021
#308: Axolotls are pretty cool. theyre salamanders, and are born like tadpoles just like most amphibians, but dont metamorphose as they grow up and remain aquatic (called neotony). they have both lungs and external gills (which look adorable) and thats not the best part - they have magic regeneration powers!!! baby axolotls often play around and eat each other's limbs, but its no problem - they simply grow them back!! theyre also pretty much immune to cancer and live for quite a long time.
however, they are only native to Lake Xochimilco and Lake Chalco in the Mexico. since the latter no longer exists, and also as a result of hunting during the aztec era, they are now critically endangered.

I’m a good 90% sure dogs are connected with not just obidence but Childhood.
Now I’m not a biologist but from my understanding of it, Neotony is the retaining of “juvinile” traits when animals grow into adulthood, and when we domesticated dogs we bred them to have a lot of “juvinile” traits, usually physical ones but sometimes mental ones.
We did the same things to cats (and apparently mice??? Idk thats what the wikipedia entry says) but unlike cats, which are still consindered stubborn, mischevous and what not. Dogs are more “obidient.”
Haruka wants to become a “child” again and return to the way things used to be where he was loved and cared for, becoming a “good boy” again.
John calls himself a “newborn” and is repeatedly talking about being born and wishing he wasn’t “born.”
And Kotoko is a wolf so she’s “not domesticated” but she did say to Amane that she was how she was since she was a child. Plus she has the kanji for child in her name and Little Red Riding Hood motifs.
(This also connects well with the dog in Magic, which is uncollared because its naturally “obidient” unlike cats…and her. And Kazui’s whos dog is with his parents, who has his own thing age and maturity)
Tsuwmya’s post on age and maturity in Milgram explains Mikoto and Kotoko’s connection to childhood way better then I ever could but my point is- there is definetly a pattern here and its really intresting!
Dogs Vs Cats and Social Expectations
Alright yeah I’ve stooped this low. His answer here is just really interesting to me because of well idk maybe the fact his T2 song is called CAT? So I’m throwing this out here.
this is like kind of a joke. kind of a character reading. 100% a mess - with that established let’s get into it!
Q: Do you like animals?
A: Well to an average extent. I had a dog back in my parent’s place.
What do you think of when you hear the word dog? If you said an active, most likely well-loved animal then we’re on the same page. It’s the typical dog lover stereotype and even if you didn’t and said something like high-energy, I bet they were still positive adjectives, right? Now what about cats? Were the adjectives more like grumpy, lazy, introverted? More negative descriptions? Well there’s actually a psychological reason behind this.
Dogs are, typically, more well loved then cats if they don’t act like cats and that’s for one main reason: psychological ownership. It’s the feeling of something being yours and is strongly associated with emotional attachment, so we care more about things that we feel belong to us. This feeling generally comes from having control over something, when you’ve invested time or money in something or if you know something very well.
So how does this tie into dogs being more favourable then cats? Well control of course. It’s easier to control a dog then it is to control a cat, that’s simply a fact. Dogs being easily impressionable makes it seem more like you “own” them, as they probably wouldn’t fair as well by themselves as a cat might.
Now how does this tie into Kazui? Oh well I’m glad you asked!!! Kazui’s parents tick all of the ways the feeling of psychological ownership can manifest in dogs.
Some of the answers to Kazui’s questions in this interrogation make it seem like his parents, specifically his father, are very controlling. Answers like “It seems like my father was also wishing I’d “be a strong man”” and “it seems like he wanted me to become a policeman as well”, there’s a theme of control here. They’ve also obviously invested money into raising him, but also from the answer “I got into a Sport Science University by recommendations”, he’s clearly smart so they’ve invested in his education too. And they’re his parents, they’ve gotta know their son well.
Yet Kazui’s T2 song is titled ‘Cat.’ And he asks to “be loved as a cat.” Cats … who are often not as well liked in society unless they act more like dogs, the norm fan favourite, then it’s scientifically proven that they are generally more well liked. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Like a certain someone lying for the sake of true love, not because they actually felt it, but for them to be more normal? More like what’s expected of them in society?
