I was going through my jewelry and decided to make a post about these lovely pieces. The nazar (Arabic), which is the real name of the “evil eye” piece, is an amulet that protects an individual from the evil eye, which is also sometimes referred to as the malevolent glare. While it is most commonly known to have origins in Turkey and is called the nazar boncuğu there, there are also many different variations of something similar to the evil eye in other cultures. The evil eye is malevolent energy sent your way by another, typically by accident and usually in the form of something like jealousy or hatred. It is said that these amulets will either absorb the evil eye from hitting you or will reflect the evil eye back onto the sender, hence protecting you from nasty energy. I love these amulets very much and wear them near daily!
