Everything You Need to Know About Crystals: Chrysoprase
The Stone of Venus
Requested by @acovenoftwo
Chemical Formula: SiO2
Color: Apple green, lemon
Rarity: Easy to obtain as a tumble stone, finer quality is expensive
Hardiness: 7
Type: Chalcedony
Chakra Association: Heart and Solar Plexus
Deities: Venus
Birthstone: May
Astrological Signs: Gemini, Taurus
Element: Water
Planet: Mercury
Origin: Formerly Poland, Now Australia, Brazil, Madagascar, Russia, Tanzania, USA
Powers: Encouraging development, Compassion, Tolerance, Growth, Forgiveness, Connection to Nature
Crystals It Works Well With: Mountain “jade”, Tourmaline, Smokey Quartz
How It is Created: Chrysoprase is a type of chalcedony quartz with a microcrystalline structure. Its color comes from nickel deposits, and it can be found in pale shades through to brighter green. Raw pieces have a granular appearance, similar to pieces of coconut, and a waxy sheen when polished.
History: Chrysoprase, called Stone of Venus because in antiquity it represented the goddess of divine love, the famous Venus, is a magnificent apple-green nickeliferous chalcedony belonging to the family of microcrystalline quartz. The ancient Egyptians also used chrysoprase for practical purposes such as sealing letters, but they would also wear pendants, amulets and other jewelry made of chrysoprase. For hundreds of years, the only major source of chrysoprase was a region of southwestern Poland between the Czech Republic and Germany, formerly known as Lower Silesia. This area has a complex geology and is extremely rich in all kinds of mineral deposits, including gold, silver, serpentine, quartz, marble, granite, alabaster—and chrysoprase. Stone artifacts from as far back as the Iron Age show the long history of Silesian carving and masonry. In the eighteenth century, Frederick II, King of Prussia (now part of Germany), conquered Lower Silesia. In particular, he wanted its deposits of green chrysoprase, which he used to decorate the halls of his favorite palace at Potsdam near Berlin.
What It Can Do:
Known as the healer of the heart space and helps connect you with infinite supply of compassion and love
Supports cardiac health and provides a centered peace
Helps people suffering from melancholy and manifests optimism and joy
Can be placed by homegrown herbs and vegetables to boost production
Perfect to artist as it increases creativity and talent
Encourages fidelity, forgiveness, compassion, and nonjudgmental thinking in relationships, while banishing greed and selfishness
Helps with inducing deep meditative states and promotes the love of truth
Calming and nonegotistical, creating openness in new situations
Stimulates fluent speech and mental dexterity, preventing you from speaking out unthinkingly in anger
Lifts oppressive and recurrent images, preventing nightmares, especially in children
Is said to detoxify heavy metals in one’s body and stimulate liver function
Is said to enhance fertility, reverse effects of infertility that are caused by infection and guard against STIs
Increases the absorption of Vitamin C
How to Get the Best Out Of: Wear as a necklace, bracelet, earrings or even use it in an elixir. Carrying chrysoprase for long periods attunes to the devic realm, a band of frequency found present on Earth which can connect you to nature and the planet directly
How to Cleanse and Charge: Can be cleansed briefly under running water then recharged overnight among a host of rock crystals for a few weeks. Cleanse during a rain shower for optimized cleansing,
Crystal Grid:
Healing for Children (Nightmares)
Shape: Fruit of Life
• 6 “issue” or calming stones
• 4 grounding crystals
• 2 light-bringing crystals
1. Hold your crystals in your hands and state your intention for the grid.
2. Lay the central keystone to represent your child.
3. Lay six crystals around the keystone to assist with the challenge or issue. (These crystalscan either represent a single issue, or different ones—whichever feels best to you. However,it may be more effective to address separate issues by laying individual grids.)
4. Lay four grounding crystals to anchor the grid at each corner of the “square.”
5. Lay a light-bringing crystal at the top and bottom.
6. Leave in place until the issue or issues have been resolved, remembering to cleanse thegrid regularly.

Luz Noceda - Capabilities (Character Profiles - Witches Duels Tournament) - Part 1
This post will include more parts about how large it is because Oh My God, Luz knows a lot of spells alright.
Luz Noceda, the protagonist of our story, is one and only. Unlike other competitors, Luz is a rare example of a jack of all trades who does not specialize in one specific magical track and studies all of them. Normally, Luz specializes in glyphs but according to the lore of my own tournament which happens after the final battle with Belos, Luz no longer has access to glyphs. However, she now does have a magical staff that allows her to still be able to cast spells just fine as proven by Owlbert in Young Blood, Old Souls. Now, since my rules specify how at times you're not allowed to use palismen in the battle, Luz is capable of avoiding this rule thanks to String Bean's shape-shifting nature, as String Bean possibly could transform into an accessory that would allow Luz to cast a spell like everyone is none the wiser, or maybe even shape-shift into an instrument to mimic bard magic (even though Luz has no vibration based spells). Outside of that Luz would also have access to some other supporting artifacts.
When it comes to Luz's fighting style, she in general prefers to outsmart and outpower her opponents with the raw strength of her magic. Luz has come far ever since she started to learn magic, currently with String Bean by her side she certainly is now more accustomed to spell-casting. Luz is quite proficient with magic now coming up with new creative ways to utilise her magic. She also now has more experience in combat meaning she's more willing to take down her opponents head-on. Luz can however be pretty reckless and impulsive when approaching her opponents, biting more than she can chew and sometimes jumping without thinking. Luz can however be quick on her feet and easily recover and come up with new ways to get an upper hand during battles.
Luz possesses now her own palisman as we all know it which happens to be none other than String Bean. String Bean showed that with her presence, Luz could be even stronger than she used to be, and Luz had plenty of experience with Owlbert beforehand to know how to use a witch's staff. Luz is a true aerial ace as Eda's Requiem episode proves as she could've won the race if it wasn't for King. She of course also knows how to correctly cast spells with staff alone and can use it in combat. String Bean also has a unique ability of shape-shifting, which allows her to take on features of other creatures and use them to her advantage. Granted she can't change size with the ability so all animals will be miniature, but it can come in handy nonetheless, and she could possibly change String Bean into other objects (like jewelry or instruments) in case she can't use witch's staff.
Luz shall be allowed a multitude of tools to help her out during battles. One of them happens to be a crystal ball from her oracle class. Luz can use it to conjure up a single ghost that can be used to help Luz aid in the battle and also predict Luz's future. The ghost is usually chill but rather helpful. It's intangible meaning it's immune to physical attacks for the most part (but can be dispelled with special attacks) and can phase through solid objects to get to its opponents and be capable of touching them to inflict harm.
Another tool Luz would be allowed to use is tea leaves from oracle class which would also help her learn about her opponents, what they're capable of, and what they're going to do.
Luz is also equipped with a training wand in case she needs another source of magic to cast spells from. It's like a hidden dagger if someone would take her sword (as in her staff, I'm clearly alluding to Sasha Waybright example) away.
Another tool Luz is free to use is her iconic bat which Luz can use for offensive purposes. Luz is allowed to have and use other weapons like a mace and a sword to aid her in the time of her need.
And of course, how could I not forget that Luz also has fireworks to help her in a fight to add more to her firepower.
While Luz doesn't have beast-keeping magic at all, she does seem to have an affinity to be able to tame most of the wild beasts as presented throughout the entire show with her knowledge and attitude. This means Luz is not really affected much by beast-keepers sending animals in her direction unless they're directly under the command of their masters (as in like pets. Sometimes some beasts are untamed and would not follow even the beast-keeper).
Luz also has brought snakes to her battle as she managed to tame them just enough so they would not attack her but certainly would attack her opponents. They're not venomous though considering now pressed any charges when Luz brought them to school. She will bring a few of them.
Another animal that Luz would bring with her to the battlefield are spiders. They're mostly used to just scare people during the fight by pouring them all over her opponents. Can be used as a great distraction. She has quite big number of them and she can even naturally attract them as seen in TtT. The spiders are also not harmful and Luz is not phased by them either.
Smoke Potion - Another tool Luz would be granted to use is a smoke potion she could brew as seen in the First Day. Luz could potentially utilize it as a smokescreen or suffocation attempt.
Light Orb - Luz's first real spell and the first spell I'm talking about here so far (after all I had to ensure Luz has plenty of tricks to defend herself now that she no longer has endless amounts of glyphs to help her out and relies on her staff to use magic). Luz is capable of creating light orbs of various sizes. They can be very little or insanely large. They can be used to illuminate the darkness or blind opponents.
Light Bomb - mostly demonstrated when Luz still wielded glyphs, but I'm sure Luz can make it work with String Bean. Luz is capable of creating a light orb that explodes into a giant burst of light that can be used to blind her opponents distracting them. It's not very harmful but it can certainly be painful. The light orb can also generate heat that can melt ice over time. Luz can also use a light spell to cancel out psychological effects (like mind-control, beastly transformation, or even illusions of great merit) as she performed when facing the Owl Beast.
Ultimate Illumination - unlike the light orb as mentioned above, this spell focuses more on generating large amounts of light. Be it beams and rays even. They're not harmful but they're blinding and this can be quite painful.
Multiple Light Orbs - as demonstrated in the intro of the second season, Luz is capable of creating more light orbs at once.
Hologram Projection - as demonstrated in Once Upon a Swap, Luz can create holograms using her light magic. The holograms don't seem to be a solid construct but could be used for potential distraction.
Illusion Casting - while Luz was temporarily in Eda's body, she was capable of creating illusions. I'm keeping this ability of hers because Luz apparently could create giant beams of energy with String Bean, which is weird UNLESS it's Luz's "muscle memory" from that one time she swapped her body with Eda so to speak. Luz can create various distractions with this ability of hers. She can also create sparkles with this technique.
Illusion creature creation and command - Luz demonstrated in Eda's body to be able to transform objects with illusion magic and command them to act for her. Mostly they're used for elaborate distractions though.
Telekinesis - Luz displayed in Eda's body capacity for Telekinesis. I can see Luz perhaps also mastering this ability with String Bean, it would be used to move around little objects like projectiles or for simpler actions and she wouldn't be able to move people, multiple objects at once, or very large ones.
Object Creation - Luz demonstrated the capacity to create objects when in Eda's body (it's wild that I'm acknowledging a Once Upon a Swap episode like that). The objects are rather simple though and at times random, but they can come in handy for Luz.
Disintegration Spell - demonstrated in Eda's body, Luz can disintegrate objects as when Luz freed Owlbert. It could just be an extension of her telekinesis though.
Invisibility - Luz is capable of turning herself invisible, though she can only remain invisible as long as she holds her breath. This ability helps best with camouflage.
Partial Invisibility - Luz can make only a certain object or part of the body invisible with this spell. She demonstrated it in KT when she tricked Belos with the hidden coven-brand glove.
Ice Platform - her first proper expression of ice magic. Luz is capable of creating an ice pillar of various lengths and sizes. Luz can use this spell for the defense to block attacks, to catapult either Luz or her opponents high into the air, or to help Luz gain high ground over her enemies.
Ice Wall - an improved version of ice pillar where Luz creates a singular wall made out of ice to either catapult multiple opponents or to shield from attacks of her opponents.
Ice Spike - an improved version of Ice Pillar. Luz is capable of creating a singular giant spike of ice that can be used to pierce through things.
Ice Slide - Luz using her ice magic is capable of covering a good portion of the ground with smooth ice that she can use to either trip her opponents or to quickly slide through the battlefield as demonstrated for example in Oh Titan Where Art Though.
Ice Bat - as demonstrated in Reaching Out, Luz is capable of creating an ice bat that she can use in combat. It is however not as durable as regular bat in comparison.
Ice Construct - Luz is capable of creating simplistic constructs made out of ice, like how in Separate Tides she created a boat for herself. And judging by how she was teaching Lilith ice glyph combination, she probably can create even more refined constructs.
Ok, that will be all for this specific page as I can't download more images. Here's part 2 and part 3.

Ivy: Gladly, Prince Diamant! As neighboring countries… it is the first step towards understanding each other.
———————————
Ivy: Prince Diamant, I have something to show you.
Diamant: Is the gem in this necklace the one I gave you?
Ivy: Yes. I decided to make it into something I can wear every day.
Diamant: Well done. It's quite stunning.
Ivy: We don't have materials like this in Elusia, but we do have skill in craftsmanship. Perhaps this is a symbol of the way forward for us-Brodian resourcefulness, Elusian talent. A path to peace and prosperity based on respect for one another's gifts.
Diamant: I see...
Ivy: This gift, the gem, really has made me braver. Where else would I have gotten the courage to reimagine our entire relationship?
Diament: Thank you, Princess Ivy....and I say that as a crown prince of Brodia this time.
Ivy: Oh..
Diament: Convincing Brodia to change it's warmongering ways will be a battle of it's own. War leads to profits, which lead to war, which lead to further profits...It's a horrible cycle. That cycle cannot continue. And I'm the only one who can stop it. This necklace is a perfect symbol of our shared goal. Both of our kingdoms intertwined...So thank you. I promise you here and now that, under my rule, Brodia will champion peace.
Ivy: Thank you, Prince Dimanet. I will take your words to heart and share them with my people. With the two of us as role models, our kingdoms can stop fighting. We can open trade relations. Elusia's craftspeople will certainly benefit from access to Brodia's resources.
Diamant: If that leads to more goods like this necklace, both kingdoms will prosper. It's a good plan.
Ivy: Now we just need to bring it to fruition.
Diamant: And we will. We'll make sure of that. Let's shake on it as leaders and friends. A new era of peace begins right here.
Ivy: Gladly. Let this be the dawn of a new day between us.

Himalayan Quartz: Transform Your Home with Art & Decoration
In the realm of natural minerals, few possess the sheer elegance and versatility of Himalayan Quartz. Renowned for its clarity, unique inclusions, and vibrant energy, this exquisite crystal has captured the imaginations of artists and designers worldwide. From stunning sculptures to sophisticated home décor, Himalayan Quartz is making its mark in the art and decoration sectors. This blog explores the fascinating ways in which this remarkable mineral is being used to enhance and beautify living spaces.
The Unique Beauty of Himalayan Quartz
Himalayan Quartz is revered for its exceptional clarity and the variety of colors and inclusions it exhibits. Each piece is unique, with some featuring phantom crystals, rainbows, or other inclusions that create intricate internal landscapes. This natural beauty makes Himalayan Quartz a highly sought-after material for artistic expression and decorative purposes.
Incorporating Himalayan Quartz into Art
Sculptures and Installations
Artists are increasingly turning to Himalayan Quartz for their sculptures and installations. The crystal's natural formations and clarity provide a stunning base for creating intricate, three-dimensional artworks. Sculptors often leave the quartz in its natural state to showcase its raw beauty, while others may carve it into abstract shapes or figures that highlight its translucence and internal features.
Jewelry and Wearable Art
Himalayan Quartz is also popular in the world of jewelry design. Its versatility allows it to be cut and polished into various shapes, from faceted gems to smooth cabochons. Designers create breathtaking necklaces, earrings, and bracelets that not only serve as fashion statements but also carry the crystal's purported healing properties.
Himalayan Quartz in Home Décor
Statement Pieces
One of the most impactful ways to incorporate Himalayan Quartz into your home is through statement pieces. Large, uncut crystals or clusters can be displayed on coffee tables, shelves, or mantels, serving as focal points that draw the eye and spark conversation. These natural sculptures bring a touch of the Himalayas' rugged beauty into any room.
Functional Art
Himalayan Quartz can be seamlessly integrated into functional art pieces. Designers craft items like candle holders, bookends, and table lamps that combine practicality with aesthetic appeal. The crystal's natural light-reflecting properties add a serene, glowing ambiance to any space, enhancing the overall atmosphere.
Interior Design Accents
Smaller pieces of Himalayan Quartz can be used as decorative accents throughout your home. Scatter polished stones or small clusters on side tables, window sills, or bathroom counters to add subtle touches of elegance. You can also incorporate quartz into wall art, such as framed pieces or mounted displays that highlight the crystal's beauty.
The Benefits of Decorating with Himalayan Quartz
Aesthetic Appeal
The primary benefit of using Himalayan Quartz in art and decoration is its undeniable aesthetic appeal. The crystal's natural formations, clarity, and inclusions make each piece unique and visually stunning. Whether used in large sculptures or small accents, Himalayan Quartz adds a touch of sophistication and natural beauty to any space.
Positive Energy and Healing Properties
Beyond its visual allure, Himalayan Quartz is believed to possess various metaphysical properties. It is often associated with clarity of thought, emotional balance, and energy amplification. By incorporating Himalayan Quartz into your home, you can create an environment that promotes positivity and well-being.
Himalayan Quartz is much more than a beautiful mineral; it is a versatile and powerful medium for artistic expression and home decoration. Its unique characteristics and natural elegance make it an ideal choice for those looking to enhance their living spaces with pieces that are both visually stunning and energetically beneficial. Welcome to Corvus Luna Creations!
Here at Corvus Luna, I make hand-made, custom and themed crystal bracelets, with more materials and designs being added frequently.
A Bit About CLC's Products
Apart from some pre-designed or single-material bracelets, all items are made-to-order, allowing you to get precisely what you want. With over 100 (at current count, estimated to be 127) materials, ranging from Afghan Jade to Yellow Tiger Eye, there is bound to be something to catch your fancy.
Are CLC Beads Real Crystal?
All beads, with the exception of a handful, are natural crystal, though some are enhanced (such as K2 Jasper) or dyed (such as the many colors of chalcedony). However, all are, at their core, natural crystal. Unless marked, I do not sell man-made 'crystals', as I believe them to have no innate 'powers'. However, due to demand, a handful of man-made beads are included in my stock, such as opalite, goldstone and imperial jasper. All beads that are in any way synthetic or altered from their natural state are marked as such, with all the information I can provide. If not marked they are, to my knowledge, entirely natural.
Why Regular and VIP?
Some beads are classed as VIP, meaning that they are of a higher quality and purity than the standard beads provided. This does not indicate inferiority of one or superiority of the other, to my mind, but rather a different form of the material. For example, VIP Black Tourmaline contains no inclusions, whilst regular Black Tourmaline contains inclusions of quartz and other minerals. Both are equally beautiful, but due to its rarity and purity, VIP does incur a slightly higher cost.
Are There Just Bead Bracelets?
Nope! Whilst, for the moment, bracelets are the focus, I do have the facility to make keyrings and, potentially, chokers and necklaces (though the latter two do need a little more practice). I do also have a selection of pendants available which can be incorporated onto a beaded project or are available on chain or cord. Pictures will be posted as soon as available. I also have several rings available as well as the facility to create anxiety rings in any of the materials I provide (once listed, the anxiety fidget rings shown serve as an example of what style I can make). For those interested in raw chips bracelets, I do have a handful of chip varieties available, and will be gradually increasing stock if demand warrants.
You Said Themed. What's That?
Some of us like to wear jewelry that is designed to be devotional or commemorate our favorite game or show. That's precisely what the themed offerings are. Some are designed by myself and my team of highly creative friends, to be reminiscent of, for example, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, Narnia, AtLA, etc. Others may be created with certain deities in mind, such as Loki, Hades, Persephone, Poseidon, and others. If none of the pre-designed offerings catch your eye, or you would like something custom designed to match your choice, this is 100% what the 'hand-made custom bracelets' concept is all about: a bracelet made specifically with you in mind.
Wait, You Said Deities. Does That Mean Any Deity?
Absolutely. As an Omnist, I fully believe we all have the right to worship any deity or being we feel warrants it. My own pantheon is far-reaching and much too varied to list, but suffice to say whether you seek something for Artemis, Lucifer, Hestia, Buddha, Yahweh or any other, you are completely free to request it. This is a no-judgement zone, and if you wish for me to create your bracelet with prayers to your deity in mind while doing so, I will happily oblige.
Does 'No-Judgement' Really Mean NO Judgement?
Completely. As a member of multiple communities that may be considered 'out of the ordinary', I believe we all are equal, no matter our race, creed, orientation, gender, or illness. Ally bracelets, such as LGBT+, Autism Awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness, and any other cause you may believe in, are fully welcome here, as are those for any religion, band, etc. If you require something made that I can make, it is of no consequence to me what your background is. The fact that you are human is all that matters.
Okay, I Read This Far. How Much?
Firstly, thank you for your patience. It means a lot!
Second, please see my Etsy or Ko-Fi (which will be linked in my Resources page once said page is fully operational) for prices. You will no doubt notice that prices differ. This is because each has a slightly different method of functioning, and therefore a different cost. Please feel free to purchase from whichever you feel most comfortable with.
Please note that every order comes with freebies, so you will be getting more than just your bracelet. These range from worry stones to tumbles to 'confetti bags' (bags of crystal chips chosen to fit as well with your bracelet as possible) and more. Sometimes, there will even be wish bottles or charms!
Thirdly, if you do purchase: My deepest thanks to you. You are helping to support my dream to become an independent creator, something I have wanted to be for many years. What are your favourite and least favourite parts about world building?
OH I LOVE WORLDBUILDING WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT WORLDBUILDING
Probably my favorite part is hitting on a logic cascade that rapidly builds on a certain aspect of the world, how it works, or its history. Using Summer Storm and my ridiculous backlog of secret knowledge:
One of the core conceits of the story is that most humans are capable of magic. Not being able to use it is actually the outlier condition.
Using magic, though, requires power. While raw magical energy is present in most places, the density of it varies; in some places, mages can use spells just off the ambient energy, while in others they have to draw on their internal reserves.
Reserves vary on an individual basis. Some mages have huge reserves and can power multiple spells in magic-poor areas, while others have very small ones that may only support one minor spell.
Like a muscle, reserves can be trained up to increase their overall capacity; however, there is still a maximum beyond which they can't reach.
Mages can also use external reserves in the form of stones (mostly quartz) saturated with magic energy. Magical energy will saturate the crystal structure over time, and contact will allow a mage to draw off that reserve regardless of the state of their own reserves.
With these external reserves, it doesn't matter if someone has a natural talent or impressive internal reserve: they can still practice magecraft if that's what they want.
Stones used for external reserves are often judged on size and overall quality. Larger stones can obviously hold a larger amount of energy, but clear stones have more room in their crystal structure to store energy compared to cloudy ones where the matrix can get tangled up with other minerals that don't have a suitable structure.
Stones therefore have different purposes: a giant hunk of quartz would make for a good workshop piece, while multiple small, clear stones can be disguised as jewelry, keeping ample reserves close at hand while traveling.
Knowing that, there's an opportunity to create an industry, primarily in mage-friendly areas, geared toward mining, cutting, and charging stones for mages: not just any stone will work, after all, so someone with the training could provide a valuable service to a mage community.
An experienced mage can visually judge a good quality stone from a poor quality one, and how much charge it has by touch. An inexperienced mage, however, may not know enough to tell the difference.
There is therefore an opportunity for con artists to sell insufficiently charged and/or inadequate quality stones for outrageous prices, ripping off less experienced mages who don't know any better.
I DON'T KNOW I JUST FIND THAT FUN. It's minutiae that will probably never be a focal point in the story, but just knowing that this is out there makes the world feel richer.
I guess if there's anything I don't like, it's the rote names. I hate devoting any more time than necessary to naming individual people who don't have any relevance to the story as it unfolds, regardless of how important they are to history. This is why I never refer to the First Exalt as anything other than "The First Exalt." I don't want to give them a name, I have enough of those to remember, and the title is enough.

Last summer I made this necklace with some stuff I had lying around, Unakit, Jade, Jasper & wood beads, silk, and some pieces from an old broken necklace. I love it and wore it a lot, so I decided to order some stuff to make more. Then promptly forgot about it. Being bedridden for the last week gave me time to play around a bit, since it's low effort and you can stop and start anytime.
This is a simple fire chain, the faceted Orange Garnet sparkles ever so slightly when the light hits it and looks very nice next to the Red Tiger's Eye.
Just a bit of Bloodstone and mate Onyx and the pendant can open, there is a piece of a lovely incense/cream perfume I got years and years ago. I don't know what it is but it smells amazing!
Sometimes you just want to be cute and girly and also wear a skull! Moonstone, Sunstone, some Red Rhodonite with metal spacers, and silk. The skull is reisin I think. I try to use natural bits as much as possible, but I also have a huge collection of bits and pieces I thrifted or was gifted and that is one of them. I have two more, maybe I should make matching earrings?
I always love how raw Crystal Quartz tips look in jewelry so I mounted some with Copper, faceted Orange Garnet, Jade, and silk again. I think this is my favorite.
My ex used to have this bracelet with wooden beads and small icons but it broke ages ago. Since then I had them rattling around my beads drawer. Put them to use with some silk, Moonstone, Aquamarine, and cross spacers that tempted me to also make a pair of earrings. I think @zarya-zaryanitsa might like that one.

For Lily - Fifth Collection (2022) - The Forest Witch Collection
For this year, I decided to explore something less ‘polished’ than my previous collections. I think I had enough of elegant volutes and posh Victorian cameos, despite my love for making them.
I went full on nature themes here: branches, leaves, horns, feathers, raw crystals... I also adopted a very limited color palette. For the metallic parts I used copper, bronze and an occasional gunmetal; for the beads and cabochons, there is Tibetan turquoise, lodolite, Baltic amber, citrine, labradorite, smoky quartz, unakite, prehnite, moss agate, Kambaba jasper, black lip shell.
For inspiration, I went through Lily’s favorites on Etsy, and tried to match some of the ‘witchy’ jewelry that she could like. I also needed a lot of references from my Pinterest, since this kind of style was quite new to me. But I think I managed to do it, and even tried some original designs.
For the packaging, I was inspired by the insect boards; I wanted the jewels to be presented in pages, inside a big book. I burnt the edges of the cardboard pages to add a nice old touch to them, and by doing so, I also added a deep smoky scent to the whole collection, that was completely non-intencional. I think Lily liked it though!

Why Aquamarine was chosen as the March birthstone?
The origin of birthstone dated back a long time. Theories suggested that 12 stones originally symbolized the 12 tribes of Israelites, but those 12 stones are not the same as what we recognize today. Modern birthstones were revised by the National Association of Jewelers in 1912. The revision aims to adept modern aesthetic while maintaining original meaning. Traditionally Bloodstone was chosen to represent March, until the opaque color of Bloodstone falls out of favor to the modern taste for bright and glittery. The NAJ crowned Aquamarine as the replacement attempt to attract customers. The reason behind why Aquamarine was specifically selected to represent March is unclear. Most convincing theory suggest that the gemstone is the symbol for Pisces (Feb 19- Mar 20). Since the ancient believed aquamarine is the mineralized form of water, Pisces being a fish zodiac naturally have strong ties to the ocean. Aquamarine is a great stone for Aries (Mar 21- Apr 19) too, because the smoothing nature of the stone balance out the fiery energy of Mars, Aries’s ruling planet, thus achieving a state of perfect balance.
Rather or not the decision is based on astrology, the refreshing blue color of aquamarine matches spring vibe perfectly. To me Aquamarine reminds me of the refreshing water of early spring. A light blue with a slight hint of turquoise, this is the still chilly spring water from melted ice.
The many faces of Aquamarine jewelry
As previously mentioned, in antiquity Aquamarine was humored to be crystalized water, and thus commonly used as a protection amulet favors by sailor also merchants (because sea travel was the main way for transportation). Nowadays we known the stone is a mineral, a variety of Beryl. No matter these ancient customs applies today or not, Aquamarine is forever associated to the sea. Working with Aquamarine I often draws inspiration from the ocean. A member of the Beryl family, Aquamarine is a tough stone (Mohs scale 7.5-8) allowing the raw mineral to be cut in many ways: smoothing as bead, brilliant as faceted stone, or rustic in unpolish raw form. DINI is one of our most popular design. A solitaire Aquamarine bead is held by two lines of gold representing waves of ocean, allowing the gemstone to be view at all angle. Some customers suggest we should rename this Aquamarine version as Mercury, well noted.
LUCIA stud earrings feature faceted Aquamarine. The color is a smoothing aqua blue with a touch of brilliancy, in a classic and yet unique design. During the early phase I am debating rather to have a round design or an oval design. I concluded why not have it both at the same time? The metal circling around the Aquamarine going round then in a continuous line becomes an oval; my attempt to capture motion in a tangible form.
And we have LONDON, set with a raw Aquamarine mimics a cube of sugar in a golden spoon. Cute and dainty, this design is inspired by the British custom of afternoon tea. A great choice for birthstone necklace and comes with free engraving on the spoon tip to personalize.
Rather your birthday is in March or not, Aquamarine is beloved by all for the smoothing color blue. To celebrate a new Spring please enter "AQUA25" and get your free Aquamarine necklace upon purchase!
