Sports and Me- we have been inseparable since the age of 5. 🙌 Being a hyperactive kid in childhood made my parents put me in swimming classes. 🏊‍♀️ I remember my first dive in 2004, and there’s no looking back after that.
😎 I started my sporting career by participating in local swimming tournaments. 🏆 2008 marked my first sea swimming event where I swam a distance of 8 K.M between Dharamtar & Gateway of India. 🌊
However, participating in the modern Pentathlon had taken a major turn in my sporting journey. 🏃‍♀️🏊‍♀️🤺🏇🏃 After taking part in the Modern Pentathlon for 3 consecutive years, I won my first GOLD medal in 2015 🥇 and qualified for the Biathle Triathle World Championship. It was one of the golden memories ✨ when I became the first Indian athlete to compete in the Modern Pentathlon at the Asian Games. 🇮🇳
After that, I won several gold & bronze medals in various international championships. 🏅My coach Vaibhav C. Chaphekar, also my father was the backbone of my achievements. 🙏
Winning 6 Gold medals & 1 Bronze medal in the 2023 National Games is the proudest moment for me & my family.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 But, things turned upside down when I injured my shin bone in the Asian Games in 2022. 🤕
And being an Olympic contender, representing India in the Olympics 2023 could not happen. 😞 Demotivation shattered my confidence as well, but I decided not to give up on my dreams. 💪
As an athlete, I aspire to inspire. My love for sports drove me to focus on my fitness more than ever, and I resumed training.🏋️‍♀️
I am happy to share with Rising Star that I've recovered fully and look forward to playing in the National Federation Games in 2024 and the Asian Games in 2026. 🤞

Despite wrist injury, Mirabai wins gold with ease in 49kg category
Mirabai Chanu, as is her wont, waited for all her rivals to finish before stepping on the stage. Then, typical of her style once again — especially in events where there are no Chinese lifters — the Olympic medallist required just a couple of lifts to win the gold.
It was a foregone conclusion that Chanu would win the gold medal in the 49kg category at the National Games. It was barely a surprise that she’d do it with utmost ease — the weightlifter didn’t even need to use all three attempts snatch and clean and jerk segments to settle the affair; Chanu needed just two in each of them.
Tumblr media
That, however, was not just because of the daylight between her and the rest of the Indian lifters. More than going for a record or a medal, Chanu was merely protecting herself.
A month ago, the lifter hurt her left wrist during training. The injury aggravated last week and also she played down any concerns of it getting worse, Chanu said she did not want to take any chance by lifting heavy weights or taking any unnecessary risks at the National Games.
“For one month, there’s a slight problem I am having in my wrist,” she said, pointing at her left wrist. “The MRI (scans) showed there was an injury because of load. So, to ensure the pain doesn’t get more I did two lifts because the main thing is World Championship.”
Indeed, for Chanu, the 2017 world champion, the World Championship that will be held in the Colombian capital city Bogota from December 5 to 16 is the main thing this year. Not only because of the bragging rights but also because it is the first step toward qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The International Weightlifting Federation’s qualifying criteria are such that all lifters have to compete in the 2023 World Championship and 2024 World Cup. The world body has lifted five other tournaments between December 2022 and April 2024 of which athletes must compete in any three — this year’s Worlds features in that list.It was a foregone conclusion that Chanu would win the gold medal in the 49kg category at the National Games. It was barely a surprise that she’d do it with utmost ease.

National Games: Sajan Prakash wins gold medal in 200m butterfly swimming
Tumblr media
Oct 06, 2022 10:20 IST Gandhinagar (Gujarat) , October 6 (AF): Sajan Prakash overcame an abdominal strain to win the gold medal in the men's 200m butterfly with a new meet record at the National Games 2022 in Gujarat on Wednesday. Olympian Sajan Prakash, representing Kerala, clocked 1:59.56 in the final to win the gold, beating his own National Games record set at the previous edition in Kerala. This is Sajan Prakash's second gold medal at the National Games 2022 after the men's 100m butterfly. Meanwhile, Hashika Ramachandra anchored the Karnataka 4x200m freestyle relay team to triumph to climb the podium at the Sardar Patel Aquatics Complex here for the fourth time in this edition but it was her incredible victory in the 200m butterfly final that set the venue alight. Ramachandra dug deep into the reserves of her energy to slip past Astha Choudhury and touch the wall in 2 minutes 19.12 seconds for her third National Games record, including one as part of the relay team, in four days. Hrutika Shriram stayed on course to repeat the golden hat-trick by winning the women's 10m platform event. Though she was self-admittedly not at her best, she did her dives well enough to pick up her second gold in three days and her 10th crown in four editions of the National Games. For a while, it looked like there would be a surprise gold for Gujarat in the swimming pool. Their gambit of fielding Aryan Nehra and Anshul Kothari in the first two legs of the 4x200m Freestyle worked well, giving rise to hopes in the hearts of the home fans. Karnataka's S Siva and Aneesh S Gowda, however, packed too much power in the next two to win by a comfortable margin. There was delight for Gujarat at the Riverfront Sports Development complex in Ahmedabad where rising Gujarat tennis player Zeel Desai helped the state retain the women's singles gold in defending champion Ankita Raina's absence. The third-seeded Zeel Desai led Karnataka's Sharmada Balu 6-2, 3-2 when the latter retired with an ankle injury. Tamil Nadu's Manish Sureshkumar also benefited from the physical discomfort and rib pain Maharashtra's Arjun Kadhe faced after winning the opening set. He could not maintain the same tempo after taking a medical time-out in the second set and Manish Sureshkumar pounced on the opportunity to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. Tamil Nadu's Sunayna Kuruvilla staged a dramatic comeback to win the women's singles gold. Urvashi Joshi of Maharashtra won the first two games 11-9 and 11-7 but Sunayna found her rhythm to turn the final on its head. She conceded just 13 points in winning three games to romp home the winner. The lawn bowls competition drew to a close at the Kensville Golf and Country Club near Ahmedabad with Assam's Sunil Bahadur beating Soumen Banerjee (Jharkhand) 16-9 in the men's singles final. Navneet Singh, Ayush Bharadwaj, Apurv Ashutosh Sharma and Abhishek Chug teamed up to beat West Bengal by the skin of their teeth, 15-14, in the Fours final. The Assam Pair of Tania Choudhary and Nayanmoni Saikia beat Lovely Choubey and Rupa Rani Tirkey of Jharkhand 17-10 while Manu Kumari Pal, Jaya and Pinki surprised Jharkhand's Sarita Tirkey, Anamika Lakra and Kavita Kumari 18-9 to win the Triples gold. Warm up for Games Day, which falls on December 20 every year. Video games, live games, card games, board games, mobile games, trivia games — everybody loves games! With good reason, too; games are a fun way to bust some stress. And that is just one of the many ways they are good for us. More on that later. Let the games begin!

😥😥 Rip #milkha #athlete #trackandfield #ncc #olympic #games #asiangames #nationalcadetcorps #nationalgames #internationalgames #worldgames #goldmedal #champion #milkhasingh https://www.instagram.com/p/CQTpRewJof4/?utm_medium=tumblr
