Umm, so some important context I missed in the small YouTube uploads of Black Point is that the guy Natalie ends up shooting and killing is Gus' brother. 😳 Idk how I missed that, but that definitely makes me feel kinda bad for Gus. Like I get, you hate your husband Natalie, but like you betrayed him, killed his brother, and still stole the money.

Unlocking the secrets behind immune exhaustion in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and long COVID patients is at the center of new Griffith University research.
The study, published Oct. 22 in JCI Insights, investigated immune exhaustion at the molecular level, and offers a crucial step forward in understanding the overlap and differences between ME/CFS and long COVID.
Lead author and Research Fellow at Griffith's National Center for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases (NCNED), Dr. Natalie Eaton-Fitch said the term "immune exhaustion" is new in the area of ME/CFS.
"Our research highlights the importance of investigating different immune pathways to better understand these complex conditions," Dr. Eaton-Fitch said.
"Research is ongoing into overlapping and distinct mechanisms at play for ME/CFS and long COVID.
"While we identified commonalities between the two diseases, there are also distinct immune mechanisms potentially at play which may be indicative of the differences in duration of illness and potential insights into early disease progression."
The study is the first to concurrently analyze immune gene expression in both ME/CFS and long COVID patients, emphasizing the intricate role of immune exhaustion in disease progression for both conditions.
ME/CFS and long COVID are increasingly recognized as serious multisystemic conditions that severely impact quality of life.
This research provides insight into the mechanisms of conditions impacting approximately 250,000 Australians with ME/CFS and 500,000 Australians with long COVID.
NCNED Director, Professor Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik, said, "This research will guide investigators on defining subtypes of ME/CFS and long COVID according to immune gene expression."
"Further investigations into immune gene expression may offer new insights into biomarkers used for identifying disease subtypes or treatment strategies for these chronic conditions," Professor Marshall-Gradisnik said.
"Our team is dedicated to using innovative technologies to further identify the mechanisms of ME/CFS and long COVID.
"Our research goal is to ultimately provide innovative technology to improve diagnosis and treatment for people suffering these conditions."
More information: Natalie Eaton-Fitch et al, Immune exhaustion in ME/CFS and long COVID, JCI Insights (2024). DOI: 10.1172/jci.insight.183810. insight.jci.org/articles/view/183810 insight.jci.org/articles/view/183810

Daniel Ide emailed from Fallbrook, CA: 'Dia duit Marc  -  I am delighted to officially become a patron of The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast.
I have been a fan of your show since this time last year, and an Irish and Celtic music fan most of my life.  I stumbled upon your podcast while searching “Celtic Music” on Sirius Radio.
I played in an Irish Folk music band in college 40 years ago (when The Chieftains ruled and Sinead was kicking ass).  We called ourselves “The Rakes of Kilarney”.  I was a guitarist and singer back then, today I am a full on percussionist (congacero mostly) with a passion for Latin - Jazz and Afro - Cuban rhythms.  This past year I have been practicing my Bodhran playing to a level of session quality performance (thanks to your podcast).  My plan is to travel to the West of Ireland in the end of October and session hop my way from Galway up to Sligo and beyond.  I will be hitting you up for recommendations as the date grows closer.
I am 5th generation Irish - American.  My ancestors fled the hard times In Ireland during the 1870’s, landing in Boston.  Very few of them, generationally, have ever returned, myself included.  I have been a student of Irish and Celtic history and culture with a romantic notion of returning “home”.  My parents have been there a few times, making connections with distant relatives in Castlebar and Derry.  I intend to return to the origin point of most of my family, feel what needs to be felt and embrace what ever is to come of it.  Ever since I read John O’Donohue’s “Anam Cara” I have been absolutely smitten with my imminent return to the home of my ancestors.
So, as you can see, I am experiencing a delightful homecoming to my ancestral roots, and The Irish and Celtic Music podcast is providing me with a lovely springboard for weekly indulgences.  What I love most about your show is your authentic love of the music, and the wonderful new connections being made for Irish and Celtic Music right in our own backyards.
Blessings of Peace and Love to you and your’s.
Slainte, Daniel"

Growing up, there was nothing extraordinary about Imogen. She was an average girl next door, born into an average nuclear family, living in an average house with a white picket fence in an average suburban neighbourhood. Their parents were loving if a little old-fashioned, raising them to become someone who married into wealth, as opposed to someone who acquired their own wealth. They planned for her to attend college, but it was less about getting an education for a career, and more about finding a husband.
At college, she met a man from a prominent family and fell in love, marrying him after he graduated and dropping out of her own degree to become a full-time corporate wife. Their job was to support him, and they did that by keeping their home, by being in charge of their staff, and by planning their social calendar, making sure he went to the right events and met the right people there to network with. As a partnership, it worked well at first, but with time it became evident that was all it was—a business arrangement. She didn't mind that, but what she did mind was that she failed to feel as fulfilled by the life of a wife as she had been led to believe she would be, and the fact that he didn't seem to care how unhappy she was only made her feel more trapped. The handful of times that they tried to broach the topic of separation, they were met with adamant refusal, their husband's main concern being with the optics of divorce.
Things came to a head when she discovered that her husband was having an affair. At that point, Imogen knew that their marriage was over, but it was not because he had cheated on her—it was because she had felt relieved when she found out about it. Walking away with a small fortune due to the infidelity clause in their prenup, they were in the middle of starting over and figuring out what they wanted to do with their life when they met Ven Rawlins, joining him and his cameraperson Utena on the road.
She wound up putting her unfinished joint degree in Business Management and Communications to good use, becoming a mixture of a manager and a production assistant—handling the financial side of their operation and helping Ven build his channel into a sustainable business. Ironically, the same skills that had made them a good professional wife also made them a good networker and salesperson, allowing the three of them to take on bigger, more ambitious projects with higher risks.
They were on their way to their next adventure when they wound up in Huntsville. Imogen knows that Ven feels responsible, and while she doesn't love being trapped in a hell town, she can't find it in herself to regret how they got here. They know what it's like to simply exist without truly living—and they never, ever want to go back to that.
