idk man my greatest fear is death and i think that’s the thing that gets me about f1 — that back in the day they used to get into these cars and know that 10% of them weren’t going to make it through the season. 10%!!! can you imagine any other sport that’s like “okay 1 out of 10 of you is going to die this year.” like!!!

and even tho the stats aren’t that bad anymore and the halo has obviously helped, it’s still a huge possibility they all have to contend with. like it is actually so easy to die or catastrophically injure yourself doing dumb regular shit, much less when you’re taking 5 fucking g’s to the dome in a car crash. grosjean says in interviews that he’ll live with pain in his hands for the rest of his life and THAT is counted as a massive success, considering what the other outcomes could have been for him.

i don’t know where im really going with this, but i just rewatched Abu Dhabi 2012 where nico rosberg has that massive crash w narain karthikeyan where karthikeyan’s car suffers a sudden hydraulics failure and nico SHOOTS over him and then SMASHES into the wall and like…….by all rights no one should be able to walk away from that but he just does?? and is fine?? and does a vlog about it that same night???

like idk!!! if that happened to ME im never driving my regular slow ass hyundai elantra EVER AGAIN. but these guys will cheat death and wake up the next day ready and eager to go do it again.
