What NakedApe Has Taught Me Have you ever heard someone in real life speak like a villain from Saturday-morning cartoons? Someone who is so blatantly evil that it's comical, and you find yourself laughing and thinking, "Is this person for real?" There's always a part of my brain that thinks there's no way anyone can be so deprived of ethics and empathy, but when the evidence keeps stacking up that, yes, they're actually fucking evil, you can't ignore it anymore.

the unconscious is fucking craaazy

so im reading this book yeah called ‘before you know it’ that’s all about the psychology of the unconscious, and how it influences our lives, and as much as there is a shitload of fascinating stuff in it, two things in particular blew me away dig this shit:

people are more likely to be pro-immigration if they’ve just used hand sanitiser, because there seems to be a link between being a germaphobe and being anti-immigration.. but it makes sense! what is germaphobia but an irrational fear of foreign pathogens? remember how trump kept calling hilary ‘disgusting’, in particular, after she mentioned going to the bathroom. Fucking hilarious. All this trump-border-wall-concentration-camp-anti-immigration fiasco is based on the fact that big POTUS is a germaphobe. Politics is a total joke. 

Number two - people will claim to have more conservative views if they feel unsafe. They did this study where people were put in an environment that seemed unsafe and they answered political and social questions in a far more conservative way than the group that hadn’t been ‘scared’. Just goes to show that the tenets of being conservative - i.e, conserving the way things are, resisting change, and so on, are inherently based on fear. One study even found the fear center in the brain (whatever it is) to be much bigger in people who identified themselves as conservative. And oh look, virtually all conservative media is fear-based, funny how that happens. Oh and politics is a total joke 2: electric boogaloo

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, remember, your political views seem like they are based on logic, but they’re based on inane animal impulses. We are big dumb apes and we need to start acknowledging it.
