Hi friends!
I will tell you about a girl, Reemas (14 yo), that's trying to help her family to evacuate the strip and help her mother, that has breast cancer and unfortunately cannot get the treatment needed for her condition. I am communicating with her almost everyday through Instagram (and with also her brothers, Mamhoud and Mohammed Khalil), and their campaign is not growing at all in these months.
It would make a HUGE difference if you can help them, even with a small amount.
I usually donate them regularly but I cannot afford all their expenses (I wish I could, really). So, I will leave their links in this post so you can reach out for them and try to help, as much as you can.
Here are the links (Reemas):
(Mahmoud's):
(Mohammed):
https://gofund.me/31fa9d5a
Every cent is worth, even just a share can make a HUGE difference in their situation.
THANK YOU!

The pictures of premature infants at al-Shifa hospital wrapped in foil and blankets after their incubators lost power during the siege. The babies at al-Nasr hospital whose bodies were found decomposing on hospital beds after a forced evacuation. The emaciated figure and wide eyes of Yazan al-Kafarna, a Palestinian child with cerebral palsy who died of hunger and malnutrition in Rafah. And just as haunting, the pictures of life in Gaza before October 7 that capture just how much has been lost: stretches of highway running along the beach at sunset, beautiful buildings lit up at night, couples dancing, libraries, cafés, frescoes, kitchen interiors, people smiling in restaurants, flowers, trees. “The memories brought up on your smartphone return you for a moment to your past life, to its atmosphere of ease and the embrace of friends,” writes Sarah Aziza’s cousin Nabil S. in a letter from Gaza, published in Mizna, describing what it’s like to look at photos from before the bombardment. “It is as if this forgotten life now presses itself upon us against our will — for these pictures are all that remain of our family and loved ones. Only photos, for us to weep and lament over, for we locked the doors tightly when we left our homes. We left with the keys in our hands.” We are not used to this — not to the gruesomeness, the ceaselessness, the direct address. Thirteen-year-old Nadin Abdullatif asks the camera in English, “Does no one care about the two million people here in Gaza? Does no one care about us? I don’t know. What is happening here? What has happened to the world? I’m suffering, and every other child is suffering. So please, notice us!” Speaking with a quivering voice over footage of people fleeing al-Shifa, Yara Eid begs, “Guys, please. Let’s stop this now. Like talk about it, share. I don’t know. Call — anyone. Try to do something. I never imagined this would happen, this is another Nakba.” Motaz Azaiza posts on X and Instagram, “You are all useless. Without shame watching us get killed one by one. Will wait my turn to be killed by Israel. And believe me you are gonna do nothing.” People in the comments say don’t give up, we need you, the world sees you, we are trying to speak up, but it’s true, we are useless, we’re ashamed of ourselves, God forgive us, we’ve failed you. This is what images on social media can do — activate an intense, genuine parasocial attachment, the same kind of attachment we feel toward strangers online who invite us to follow their motherhood journeys, their sobriety journeys, their cancer journeys. Nobody expected to follow someone’s genocide journey, their famine journey. Yet here we are.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif won a gold medal in the women's welterweight division and was her country's flag bearer in the Olympics closing ceremony. She's become a hero in Algeria and is bringing global attention to women's boxing. But what she's most famous for is the intense scrutiny about her sex and gender after a rain of online criticism and false claims during the Paris Olympics. Now, the Olympic boxing champion has filed a legal complaint in France for online harassment, according to her lawyer. In a statement posted Saturday to Instagram, Khelif's lawyer, Nabil Boudi, alleged "aggravated cyber-harassment" targeting Khelif. He described it as a "misogynist, racist and sexist campaign" against the boxer.

Hi friends! This post is dedicated to a young man, Mahmoud, that needs your help to get out Gaza and save his family.
Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/mahm8oud_nabeel?igsh=MWZ6eDJ6YzZjcDE3Ng==
Here's his description on his GoFundMe campaign:
"Meet Mahmoud, a bright and resilient high student from northern Gaza, with dreams as big as his heart. Despite the challenges he faced growing up amidst conflict and hardship, Mahmoud excelled in his studies, fueled by his passion for learning and his unwavering determination to make a difference in the world. ⚽ Mahmoud's zest for life extended beyond the classroom, where he found solace and joy in playing football and running, embracing every opportunity to embrace the beauty of life amidst the chaos of his surroundings. With a loving father who worked tirelessly as a pharmacist for 20 years, and a mother battling breast cancer, Mahmoud found strength in his family's unwavering love and support. However, their world was shattered when war descended upon their home, tearing apart their community and destroying everything in its path. Mahmoud's dreams of completing his education and pursuing medical school were abruptly halted as their home, his school, and his father's pharmacy were reduced to rubble, leaving their family devastated and displaced. Tragically, Mahmoud's mother's battle with breast cancer took a devastating turn as she was unable to receive the life-saving treatment she desperately needed. With their home severely damaged and their livelihoods destroyed, Mahmoud and his family were forced to flee, spending five agonizing months living in makeshift tents, struggling to survive amidst the harsh realities of displacement. Now more than ever, Mahmoud needs our help to rebuild his shattered life and provide for his beloved mother and family. By donating to our GoFundMe campaign, you can help Mahmoud access the essential resources he needs to continue his education, support his mother's medical treatment, and rebuild their home and livelihoods from the ashes of war. Your generosity can make a world of difference in Mahmoud's life, offering him hope, healing, and the opportunity to pursue his dreams despite the unimaginable challenges he faces. Together, we can stand with Mahmoud and his family, offering them the support and solidarity they need to rebuild their lives and reclaim their future. Join us in making a difference in Mahmoud's life today. Your kindness and compassion can truly change the course of his journey, offering him a brighter and more hopeful tomorrow. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us spread love, hope, and healing in times of crisis."
His campaign is REALLY low in funds and I cannot stop thinking about the upcoming winter and how difficult is going to be for him, if there's no money and aid to survive those harsh conditions.
I am not the fundraiser of his campaign, but I know how kind, gentle and brilliant he is just from talking to him when he asked for my help.
This is for a good cause. Even just sharing it can change things.
Current amount on September 30th: 285 $ / 50000 $

Umroh
Anyway...
Today is the first day I go back to work!
Makanya ku kalau kerja selalu pakai headset anyway.
Ok, back to the topic, mau ngerekap apa aja yang sudah dilakukan selama 2 minggu terakhir:
Jadinya tanggal 26 ini kayanya Cuma packing, terus baca buku lagi mau ngabisin buku, dan kemudian sorenya nonton The Boy and The Heron di Jericho dekat rumah. Tapi worth watching! I recommend.
Nah di sinilah adventure dimulai. Duh tapi ceritanya panjang banget lagi, intinya kusingkat aja yah.
Di satu sisi, sangat satisfying, karena ku sangat suka being on my own with my own thought, tapi di sisi lain juga kesepian sih mayan. Tapi ku kebantu banget karena ku emang udah beli notebook gitu buat nulis thoughts and doodling kalau bosen. Habis ngapain, dan what I was feeling at that moment, ada pelajaran apa yang bisa diambil buat kehidupan atau buat logsitik next trip, gitu-gitu doang.
• Itinerary: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DCmk929_ByRKUJKQlJzcXIIHnM0XRBwwKYeTjdGenng/edit?usp=sharing
• Belajar umroh sendiri: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wwMwnOPMvO_z0-5HWxk1-C4ySARj6_XDi_Yx5oSdBI8/edit?usp=sharing
Buat budgeting, ku belum bisa share public dulu in details tapi total abis di range 1400GBP-an lah. Tapi feel free to reach out to me personally!, ku bisa kirimin excel sheetnya.
Hmm iya, kalau mau di-detailin cerita umrah ini bakal panjang banget, sampai hiccups-hiccupsnya tapi yaudah next time aja ye.
Terus yaudah sampai rumah nonton beberapa variety show korea. KU NONTON HONGKIM DONGJON SEMALAM NANGIS BOMBAY???
Tapi ADA STRAY KIDS!!! Dan mereka tentu saja as usual super perform dan sangat bagus.
Ku Jumat dan Sabtu tu berturut-turut puasa juga ganti Ramadan, yang ternyata pas kuhitung lagi, tahun lalu ku Cuma bolong 3 hari?? Jadi sisa hutangku tinggal 1. Besok deh Selasa/Rabu dikerjain.
Tadi pagi juga ketemu sama postdoc nanyain progress terus ku bilang “I’m on it!” dan udah.
Oxford seperti biasa masih sepi aja kaya gini, tapi ku sangat semangat kembali bekerja setelah break kemarin. Semoga tahun ini goes well! OH IYA, mau bikin post refleksi 2023 padahal awalnya, kenapa malah jadi ngomongin gua pergi umrah dah…
Ciao!
