sorry to my star wars/marvel followers but i just need to talk about A Quiet Place: Day One for a minute because i feel like it’s one of the first mainstream “end of the world” movies that taps into the potential storylines of people with chronic illness/pain. like one of my first thoughts anytime i watch a movie where infrastructure collapses and transportation goes out i run through a mental list of pharmacies in my area and think about which ones i could reach on foot within a day. or how obstacles that just inconvenience other travelers could fully stop me from getting my prescription. i worry about how different pharmacies are organized and if they’d have enough of my specific medication to get me through however long it takes for the world to come back, if it ever does. Lupita acted that feeling so well, and her outlook on the apocalypse was so different than any other character i’d seen because Sam already knew she was dying, and she was going to die whether or not the creatures came. so she’s not worried about getting to safety or trying to rebuild a life, because she’s been preparing to leave life behind for years now. she just wants to be in her home neighborhood in places with good memories and good food, and go out on her own terms instead of waiting for the disease to catch up to her. she couldn’t just do that before the arrival, though, but she can once what was left of her life collapses and she knows everything she loves (Frodo, memories of her father, her poetry) is safe with someone she trusts. it’s such a reverse plot to the usual apocalypse where everyone’s fighting for long-term survival and trying to rebuild what they lost, while Sam takes her losses in stride and slowly relinquishes her important belongings to Eric so she can die in peace. god it’s just such a genius reversal of the usual fight-for-your-life storyline with huge untapped potential that i hope inspires other movies to explore similar plots because there’s so many directions a writer could take with a chronically ill character in an apocalyptic situation, and i would love to see a horror/scifi subgenre of people with chronic illness in survival situations. okay that’s all.

I don’t think, as a fandom, we talk about Bucky and Steve fighting in one of the most gruesome and fucked up wars the modern world has seen enough (ontop of being raised by fathers who fought in the one before it)
While yes, they deserve and should be written as characters with PTSD because of what they do on the avengers/as the winter soldier/being placed in a whole new world without a say
We should also be writing them as characters who have fought in WWII and seen some fucking shit (Omaha beach, the bombs in Japan, people who where imprisoned at the concentration camp, their friends dying right next to them, helping out in the trenches, watching people loose a leg or arm, etc etc)
Ontop of this, bucky (in the comics and I think one of the cartoons) joined the army when he was like 17/18 years old. A fucking kid.
We should write more PTSD scenes of the two having flashbacks relating to WWII and not only the things I mentioned before
Steve is screaming and crying on the floor because Tony grabbed his arm from behind and- Buck is a fucking child and he’s stuck in the building, let go of me Sargent - let me go get my little brother before it blows and Tony is shushing him with “it’s okay hon, it’s just me”
Bucky is holding a gun up to his husband’s face because, just for a second, Sam (with a Halloween mask) looked like a gasser that killed a guy who pushed Bucky out of a window before said gas exploded on that floor and the guy died
More scenes of PTSD Bucky and Steve that goes to WWII

Hello how about Peter as a best friend? Maybe reader is also a hero and they can be hero buddies but they also know their real identity and hang out :3
Rooming with Spiderman while also being a hero
Before you read, please be warned that I'm writing based on my impressions of them not only in the game (though it's the biggest inspiration), but some of them with the movies/shows in mind too.
I hope you don't mind, but I made you and Peter roommates for convenience hehe
Sorry this isn't super specific, I had some trouble thinking of what to add

Rooming with the friendly neighborhood Spiderman™ was great, because on top of being best friends you were also a superhero. Meaning you two often hung out a lot more than the average person you think was healthy- but y'all were just guys being dudes.
Obviously separate rooms were a must, privacy is always important, but honestly that didn't matter anymore. You'd both end up somehow getting your laundry mixed up and wore each other's clothing without even noticing (suits were never mixed up).
The communication between you two wasn't always ideal, but a system can always be worked out. If Peter had a very important project at work that took up a lot of his time, he'd make sure to tell you so you knew you'd most likely work as a hero alone for awhile- more on your plate perhaps. And obviously, vice versa- you have something important he'll take up more hero work.
The flat you two shared definitely wasn't the cleanest, but it wasn't dirty either. A bag of chips was always on the coffee table, as well as some sodas- whether they were empty or not was unknown until cleaning day came around. Chores are always split evenly, you clean one space he cleans a different space, sometimes you split up a spaces cleaning (definitely the living room, maybe the kitchen), and dishes duty alternated unless absolutely necessary.
It was great being his friend, he was smart and knew how to get out of a pickle. He was also willing to take care of you when you needed it, and obviously you'd do the same. The both of you knew how hero-ing was, how dangerous it was, so it's no shock the two of you always checked in with each other every now and then about how it's going in that area.
Civilian life isn't always spent together, the both of you have jobs and separate social circles, but a lot of the time free afternoons are spent playing video games or dogging on horrible reality TV.
TMI does NOT exist between the two of you, it hasn't for ages- even before you two had moved in together.
Overall: it's great being friends with Peter, he's nice and in turn you are too. Typical dude stuff, no?
