#NOT INTRINSIC TO PLOT

just. be careful, okay? burnout really sucks. ensure you give yourself enough leisure time to stay sustainably productive.
Chara had been asked about their life on the surface quite a bit.
In truth, they didn’t remember much of anything.
Though, sometimes, in the dead of the night, their mind would illustrate a picture of stone pavement leading to a bed of flowers.
A mailbox with the numbers one four one three imprinted on the side.
The unending drip of water hitting cold metal; a woman berating a man for leaving it unattended.
The harsh smell of bleach a child used to erase blood from brown carpets.
A man as tall as the ceiling fan. (A woman with a missing face twitches at the sight of him.)
Pants hidden away in a child’s closet — it hid their food reserve. (Snacks they snatched from street vendors to quell angry stomachs.)
Old and new bruises left untreated. (The woman never complained of that as she did the water tap.)
The clenching of a child’s chest.
Stained brown carpet; the extra crimson blended well.
Sirens in the distance
never for the child.
Hiding in a closet, muffling breathing with a hand.

and I don't mean things like roombas and space rovers
#my post#memes#literally love the intrinsic plots that stem from the link between flesh and machine and the parallels between#evolution and innovation#but when i search for something and the results include mid-journey art I am filled with a visceral rage#🫠#like it was cool at first but then

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Midst is a perfectly-paced show. I know the story arcs are largely outlined, but it is actually astounding how flawless the pacing is given the improv aspect. It's clearly created by people who understand on an intrinsic level when and how plot points need to land in order for it to flow smoothly. Absolute chef's kiss, infinity/10, perfect pacing, no notes because I am in fact taking notes.
#like i do think i am decent at pacing overall but god i want to dissect this plot just to study it#i am in all ways but physical capturing it in a jar with holes in the lid and fervently documenting its movements#midst podcast#there's not really spoilers in this cuz this is an evergreen post it just remains true#god i want to really break this down but it's like. idk man. something something look at it it's on the ceiling#(i do think that should become part of the Tumblr vernacular for when something is just so intrinsic that how do you explain it#if you don't get it you're not gonna get it i can't explain it to you you just have to get it)#did just realize that i started this and the mother trauma post the same way lmao#it's almost like the consistency of this show is spurred by its flawless pacing

You look better this way. What way? Nothing. I couldn't get a hold of you for days. Did you work undercover in the school and help Zherui investigate?
KISEKI: DEAR TO ME Ep. 08
#kiseki: dear to me#kisekiedit#kdtm#kiseki dear to me#chen yi x ai di#ai di x chen yi#nat chen#chen bowen#louis chiang#chiang tien#jiang dian#userspring#uservid#userspicy#pdribs#userrain#userjjessi#*cajedit#*gif#'what do you care?' first of all. THE JAW CLENCH. second of all. chen yi why do you care?#he doesnt have to explain because he and ai di have been by each other's sides their whole lives#its impossible to put into words Why Chen Yi Cares bc their identities their whole beings are intrinsically tied together#and him sternly reminding ai di of that by only saying ai di's name....good stuff#cuz. huh. its almost like chen yi waking up and ai di Not Being There is his worst nightmare#what if we made that a plot point! a h a#HES WORKING IT OUT but its HARD to DO SO when again. their identities are tied together. it's a chen yi-ai di tangle#& while chen yi knows there are things ai di doesnt tell him he doesnt know the root feelings bc ai di hides them so well#ai di NEEDED to show his True vulnerable face to chen yi...he needed to sleep with him and he needed to cry#& leaving again (only days after this scene! (which was bc chen yi drunk-kissed him!)) was the final snap inside chen yi to make him SEE#the real ai di that'd been there all along. (while ai di used prison as another excuse to avoid him & the vulnerability he'd just exposed)

Controversial take, but the crush plotline being introduced at this time in this way makes sense and helps move the plot forward. (The problems with this plotline are more that it overstays its welcome and takes up too much of Ochako's screen time)
It's logical that Aoyama would pick up on Ochako's crush because he was keeping an eye on Izuku. He doesn't know how Izuku is involved in the All for One/One for All conflict, but because one wrong move could get himself and his family killed, he has to pay attention to Izuku.
And it makes sense Aoyama would bring up the crush here; he is trying to sabotage Ochako's exam and he needs a distraction. Pointing out her high school crush out of the blue is an effective way to accomplish that.
Beyond that, this crush plotline needed to be in play before Toga - Ochako's narrative foil - was introduced.
Anyway, regardless of your thoughts of Izuocha, for a Shounen Jump romantic subplot, it's pretty intertwined with the main storyline.
#bnha reread#bnha 67#bnha#uraraka ochako#aoyama yuuga#bnha manga spoilers#this isn't really an izuocha post as much as ochako's crush is actually plot relevant#its intro brushes past the ua traitor plotline and is intrinsically tied to Toga's whole character arc#toga himiko

If I could rediscover whatever kind of creative juice i was drinking when I wrote Earth's Champion and put just half of that energy into a published fiction I'd be happy forever
#you ever read a book so good you wish you had written it?#now try having written a fic so good you wish you could write it again#the only drawback is that it's a FIC#and its audience is therefore intrinsically limited#if i could somehow put this same energy into an original fiction#but how can this plot work without the source material#what would it be without the context#and without the clever references to the source material all over

someone is literally fighting with me in the comments about Ariel’s potions side business and why Harry wouldn’t have done that.
this is me, currently.
#aim and ignite#like if you don’t like it move on my friend#with peace and love#there doesn’t need be an intrinsic motivation for ariel doing this#it was an accidental event sponsored by the twins that ties into a bigger plot point

see you could say as much as you like that luffys dream isn't gonna be heroic bc he's not a hero or w/e. but luffy always does heroic shit Constantly. even if he wouldn't consider it heroic himself it's probably going to be some incredibly admirable shit. you can't take luffy at face value when he says that like. just look at him. boy's a hero innit
#i imagine the dream has smth to do with ushering in a new age. likely one of freedom. or like pirates which = freedom to him#and then you could be like “oh well not everyone will Like freedom” and thats why its Not Heroic#cuz he tells uta he's gonna bring forth a new generation at one point. in a filler episode for the movie but. that does seem significant#one piece#monkey d. luffy#i think people tend to take the “he's a pirate” thing too far#like yes he is a pirate. and also yes he is a very good boy. and he does heroic things all the time. those are not mutually exclusive#he's not The Kind Of Hero That Is Self Sacrificing specifically. but like. he is a hero. just like if you look at what he does. he is.#and like saying he's not a good boy bc hes a pirate is like. come on. are you watching the show#luffy's goodness is intrinsic to the show. it drives forward the plot constantly#luffy would not get as much support from ppl around him if he was not good!!! everyone helps him because he's good!!!#and he constantly wants to help people!! and fights to make their lives better!!! because he's good!!!!!!!!!!

Me, whenever I contemplate slipping back in time: I could probably make some money, but... all my fanfics will be gone. It'll take years for -that one story- to start, and it won't get -my favorite scene- until Sept. 2023. I'll have lost all my Bookmarks. What if I can't find -that one story-. Holy shit, I'm going to have to wait through the Slow Burn again—?!
#My daily anxiety would literally just be 'what if I stepped on a butterfly and this fic didn't happen'#literal worst nightmare#I can rebuild relationships all day#but don't take away my plot development#anything but that#if you haven't realistically considered traveling back in time and yet are a fan of time travel au's we are intrinsically different people#and while I will never knowingly trust you after figuring this out#I wish you the best#shitpost

Man. Season 3 of His Dark Materials is letting me down in a big way.
#ramblies#hdm#the first two seasons were really on point and I understood the changes that were made#humanizing mrs coulter was brilliant#but why the fuck did I spend two episodes watching Asriel court king Agunwe instead of actually seeing Mary make meaningful contact#like I knew the mulefa would let me down when I saw their designs but their entire storyline has been gutted when it was arguably#the central plot of the third book#their stupid ‘wheels’ don’t actually seem intrinsic to them or their way of life#they don’t make nets or have technology#other than speaking the show has done nothing to establish them as people ot given a reason to care about them#but there’s smaller issues like changing the emotional tenor of some scenes that makes them less effective

somewhat setting aside the fact that this person reads books with all the mental engagement of looking at a pinterest board, but I wanna know what world they think they live in in which a book's Vibes are not directly informed by the writing and the plot
#like. Vibes are Atmosphere. a books Atmosphere is intrinsically connected to wiring style and the story being told#what does this person mean by Vibes if not Atmosphere#are they just reading ''the curtains were blue'' and going ''wow hashtag sadgirl core''???#like. you can absolutely enjoy a book bc of its Vibes/Atmosphere#but like#to think thats not a factor of writing style/characters/plot/etc is just showing a piss poor understanding of how writing works#reading comprehension in the fucking dirt man

I love reading creators giving such lovely poignant answers to questions about the themes and meanings behind their work but at the same time it does annoy me a little because I feel like if I were ever in the same position, my brain would short circuit so bad, which is so funny because when I was much younger and just starting out on my creative writing journey I used to give so many pretend interviews about my stories when I was bored and now if I try to do the same, my brain blue screens and the only answer I can give myself is "idk, I was running on vibes"
#i could probably do better than that. like i think the problem is when i was younger fake interviews in my head let me work out the themes#helped me flesh out characters and plot and shit but now rhat im much older and a little more experienced these things are more instinctual#and held in the back of my mind and dont need to be yanked to the forefront to dissect as much#and since i already know the answer intrinsically my brain cant be effed to answer the question its asking because it already knows lol#but if someone were to prompt me i could probably figure smth out. with like. a few days to think it through ofc#there's no way i can give good answers the drop of a hat i can barely get the answers to my asks to make sense 😂#happy's babblings

to me this line doesnt just apply to vera (who passes away in the bad ending where she receives a guilty verdict; i intepret that as her committing suicide somehow) but also to thalassa... my personal interpretation is that her accident just took away her eyesight and her amnesia was a psychological response to all of her trauma, bc of how hesitant she is to try and recover her eyesight/memory while she was lamiroir + this quote from her in this same scene
so i think this whole "having something worth living for" line applies to thalassa too, bc the mason system didnt just supply vera's innocence, but also gave thalassa a reason to look forward to life (she learns tht she has two children who grew up into happy and healthy young individuals)... 🥹
#i just OHHHHH im thinking abt apollo being the one who makes all of aa4 happen#like theres a lot of factors ofc phoenix and the gramaryes and the gavin brothers and the mishams#but if apollo wasnt a defense attorney none of this would come to light#apollo who is seemingly so so far removed from this entangled plot from 7 years ago#except hes not removed from it at all... bc he is the son of trucys mother#apollo is like. phoenixs and veras and thalassas and everybodys trump card#a hidden ace up their sleeve.. an ace born from thalassa#to think her actions 20+ years ago where she tried to run away from home to live a life outside of the gramarye's shadows#ends up saving so many people including herself#its incredible 🥹🥹🥹#apollo managing to do this well thanks to his bracelet.. which his mom left in his care...#APOLLO YOU ARE SO LOVED.. ITS INTRINSIC TO UR CHARACTER DESIGN 😭😭😭#i love apollo sm and i love thalassa sm and i love AJAA SOOOO MUCHHHH

writing fanfic as a side hobby but nobody knowing is kind of fun. my team lead at work will compliment my writing or say something like "oh please reword this because you're better at writing than me" and it's like awww thank you! i get a lot of practice in because i've been writing a novel about block people in my spare time for the last five months :)
#yeah im calling firewatch au a novel now. it's nearly 40k at 5/10 chapters and has a fully formed plot and background and research#anyway i believe fanfic as a hobby has intrinsic value for fun and pursuit of the arts!#but it literally is also just good practice for language and communication skills in general#no hobby or knowledge gained is for nothing
