// Este pasado sábado dirigí la cuarta sesión de Morte Ascendō, la introducción del pj Lasombra de mi buen amigo Carlos en la Crónica de V5 "Crescent City By Night" que llevo en marcha.

En esta ocasión el trío de Lasombra, Carlos de Montedemo, el Padre Manuel de Mendoza y Manuel de Montedemo, en compañía del heredero y ghoul del primero Miguel de Montedemo, fueron en busca de la Primogénita Nosferatu Diana Selene para intentar averiguar el posible paradero del enigmático y peligroso "Hombre de Negro", un Matusalén Lasombra que podría ser parte de su familia...

Acudieron a la Plaza de España, donde se suponía que a través de los gatos callejeros podrían contactar con ella. Tras un intento de engaño por parte de Diana, adoptando la forma de una corredora a la que habían intentado asaltar en el cercano parque, se descubrió ante ellos y les recriminó entre otras cosas que hubieran dejado con vida a uno de los Sabbat la noche anterior.

Hablaron sobre el 'Hombre de Negro' largo y tendido, comentando todo lo que ella había llegado a averiguar mediante su red de espionaje a lo largo de la ciudad... pero no consiguieron localizar su ubicación en Nueva Orleans por el momento.

Se despidieron de ella y decidieron acudir a preguntar a un Hecata, Antonio Rossellini, un criminal que entre otras cosas vendía información sobre Cainitas. Solía ser asiduo de un club para adultos cerca de Canal Street, "The Diamond's Club".

Se dirigieron en coche hasta allí con la intención de entrar.

Salvation: a tale of the past (Part 5).

Last time…

"Yes, we mostly drink human blood. Although not all of us do. I, for example, prefer to feed on animal blood. I have more affinity with them… Others go to blood banks and drink bagged blood…" He seemed sincere when he told her this, his green eyes following her wherever she went.

"Yeah… animal blood? And what do you do? You go to a slaughterhouse and buy blood from… I don't know… pig or cow or…" she asked him while holding the gun with her right hand, but already pointing at the ground and bringing the bottle of bourbon to her mouth to take a drink, that was impossible to digest while sober!

"No. Normally, I go to the source to feed myself. I have certain special abilities to… make myself understood with animals and not be considered an enemy." he told her trying to downplay the matter, although it was clear that it was something quite incredible.

Britney smiled after the last drink. She put her service weapon in the holster on her belt. "Are you Dr. Dolittle?" she said sarcastically.

Lafayette shook his head a little. "Well, the book is very good, the movies not so much…" and he gestured with his hand behind the blonde woman.

With a mixture of fear and curiosity, she turned slowly and what she saw made her snort. On the ledge of the terrace where they were, there were at least a dozen cats staring at her.

"Oh, fuck! What a scare! Where… how… what are they doing here?!"

NOLA, Lafayette's Famulus...

"It was them who warned me, the one with the blue eyes and long grey fur. Her name is NOLA, and she's my Famulus, my partner… she knew something bad was about to happen to you and she used the rest of my spy network to warn me so I could get there on time…" he said as he approached the cats, who brought their heads closer and began to purr while the Nosferatu Detective petted them one by one.

"Thanks to them, and other stray animals, I know everything that can happen in the city." He added, staring at Britney.

"Wow… and thanks to her you knew I was going to…" she tried to clarify what had happened to Lafayette while pointing at NOLA. The cat meowed as if answering her, scolding her for what she was going to do until the detective went up to stop her.

The man nodded. "You're a good person, Britney Loup. You care about your job, you want to stop the criminals who kill in the city. That does you credit. There's a lot of corruption in your industry, I'm glad that at least you're a trustworthy person."

"You have no idea what you're talking about, Lafayette… I'm a woman who's just divorced, who's lost custody of her son, who's going to have to go live in her car because I'm not going to have a roof over my head starting tomorrow either… I do my job the best way I know how, but I assure you that I'm not a good person. I drink too much, I get involved with the wrong people, I don't go to church, and I don't find any meaning in my life…" Tears welled up in her clear eyes again.

Britney Loup having a bad moment...

"But you have me. I'll help you in any way I could and that you allow me, of course. And I think we can help each other make this city a better place for us and the people we love…" he said, approaching her with NOLA in his arms. The cat purred, closing her huge blue eyes.

"A deal? Working together?" she replied, wiping away her tears.

"The strange cases you would find I can take care of investigating with my own means, and the more mundane cases that I will investigate may require some daytime help…" It was a quid pro quo, for both of them.

Britney approached and petted NOLA's head. She looked towards where the other cats were and there were none in sight anymore, they had left as quietly as they came! "Okay… But if you're fooling me I swear that…"

Lafayette shook his head. "I don't lie. I don't usually lie unless it's for a greater cause. I was raised Catholic, but over the years I learned to have my own set of values ​​and code of conduct."

Britney Loup lowered her gaze. "Ok. We'll try to make it work, Mr. Lafayette."

"Francis. My name is… Francis. If you want, you can call me that, Detective Loup." she replied, with a slight blush on her pale face streaked with tiny dark veins.

"I'm Britney, or Brit. Call me that in private. I think it would be a good idea for us to get down from here… if someone sees us they might actually call the police and we'd be in a bit of trouble… me at least!" she replied with a slight smile as she noticed the Nosferatu's blush.

"Yeah, let's go…" and gestured for her to go ahead towards the stairs leading down the building…

Heya everyone, pushing for another round of ads for our game before we close the early access on Steam. We're a very small team of (2) developers from New Orleans who need your help with spreading the word on our project!!

We've been working on this game for about 5-6 years and just sold our 200th copy! We are very excited to push it before we close early access because we've made some improvements already and want to share them with the 🌎. We are hoping to be able to use the funds from this push to finish the game and start developing the next one.

Our game emphasizes choices and replayability. It contains multiple endings and really is a lot of bangs for very small bucks! It's an adorable 3D JRPG with some charming characters and a world that will only become more queer and diverse as we continue to update it over time. It has a fantastic soundtrack that features a few local NOLA artists.

It's the culmination of a lot of work and heart from two people (one of whom is trans) who want to make diverse games that raise the bar and include people who haven't previously been included. And we want to show that it's possible to make good games without a huge studio backing you.

VTM Rambles: the Lesbian Cinematic Universe

so i run a chronicle set in new orleans and it's part of what my girlfriend and i call the lesbian cinemtic universe which also includes their berlin by night chronicle that i play in. we call it such because i'm sure you can imagine there are so many lesbian characters. and like, i love it because our games are so queer friendly as they're run by trans lesbians and played by other sapphics. all of us are also experienced ttrpg players or storytellers in some other way too so it's very common someone will have someone else crying or freaking out because of the scene they're playing,

I also think the queerness and our experience with storytelling allows us to better explore the themes of vampire, which to me are what does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be good. We all have characters, PCs or SPCs alike that re struggling with the darkness of the kindred and human world, in fact I think some way all of them are. i love being able to explore what that means for these people and how they react and cope with the pain of their lives. As creators in these games, we've taken a very human approach to creating these chracters as world of darkness seems to believe that once you're embraced you lose all goodness. it also seems to me they believe tiers of humanity are fixed and unuanced when that is simply not the case so i love playing with what each tier of humanity might mean for each character.

as a storyteller, and a player i interpret the beast as more a figurative manifestation of whatever magic that comes with kindredhood and the blood combined with a person's shadow self and subconscious. i'm personally not a fan of the idea that the beast is an actual entity now living in a kindred' head because of the embrace that sucks the good from you. i think the beast forces the kindred to grapple with the darkest parts of themselves that were already there so the fight for goodness or humanity is internal and intrinsic. to me, this has created such an interesting conflict and even fear in certain characters who want to be kind and humane but are scared to lose that due to age or the world etc.

in these two games, we also have some really interesting themes going through. in berlin, i'd say we're creating a theme of healing generational wounds and in nola i think our theme is becoming learning to hold on to the love and kindness in your life, because it will save you in more ways than one. as a creator whether that be on the storyteller or player side, i'm taking these ideas and running with them. for me, a throughline theme helps tie a story together and helps write the story as it devlops even in an rpg.

additionally, i've found that vtm is a great system to explore heavier topics than you more easily could in dnd or something similar. the central questions of the game lends itself to that. for example, in nola i have a plot that has to do with the second inquistion in the cia and how the prince of the camarilla is currently being trafficked as a part of a deal to hold of the cia which was made knowing one day she'd break. i also think the system is a good way to explore power dynamics in society and tradition. even though our political systems are very different in reality a lot of the messiness and the constructs that create those systems are present in the construction of the camarilla, anarchs, and sabbat- to me this is just another interesting way to explore morality in a game like this.

i am a neuroscientist and enjoy tweaking the poorly written mechanics relating kindred anatomy and physiology. i could make a whole post dedicated to what i've messed with in that regard because it's been a lot. i've altered scarring, disease/immune states, the appearance and visibility of disability, metabolism, and fertility to name a few. most importantly from that list is disability and disease. in both games several characters are autistic or adhd or both. there are vampires who use mobility aids, who are amputees, the nola prince and her wife have hiv, one of my pcs has hEDS and the other has lupus. world of darkness erases disability entirely when talking about the embrace and to me, that's wrong. disability isn't awful or heinous and shouldn't be erased in a low (or high for that matter) fantasy game because it's a part of life for so many people.

Biography:

Nolan is a student under the guidance of Monroe and Gerard to hunt the supernatural in Beacon Hills. Nola is frail, both emotionally and physically as he suffers from social anxiety, depression, mania and insomnia, which makes him easy to manipulate by both Monroe and Gerard as when he attacked Liam. Part of this was because he was one possessed by a void nogitsune who left behind an evolving darkness inside of him.

While suffering from that darkness, he looks for what a void spirit looks for, which is pain in others. This has showcased itself when he has helped Monroe and Gabe in hunting the supernatural. The void nogitsune also left some control over the dark element, something that Nolan is unaware that he can do.

La vie nous met constamment à l’épreuve en enchaînant les obstacles, en testant notre endurance. Ce n'est pas un long fleuve tranquille comme les plus paresseux ou peureux s'évertuent à croire. Elle s’entrechoque contre des rochers et finit par se jeter du haut d'une cascade, tout droit vers un inconnu qui se veut effrayant, bien que parfois excitant. Cependant, certains se complaisent dans une routine, dans des désirs qui ne sont pas les leurs car ils ont trop peur de sortir des sentiers battus. Ces gens-là, je me plais à les observer humblement à la terrasse du Café du Monde sur Decatur Street, tout en buvant l'un de ces cappuccinos devenus une œuvre d'art depuis que les baristas ont découvert le latte art. Une belle fleur de cacao dessinée dans la mousse de lait, aussi légère que le sont mon cœur et mon esprit. Et ces gens que mes yeux dévisagent non sans crainte portent sur eux un visage accablé, en résulte une éternelle insatisfaction créée par des rêves et des désirs inassouvis, trop peureux d'oser ne serait-ce même que les espérer. Que ce soit le regard des autres, l'avis des proches qui semble être le plus raisonnable. Ils se remettent toujours en question. Il s’agit d’une succession de décision animée par un manque de confiance en soi qui finit par ne plus les rendre maîtres de leurs choix, de leur propre destinée. C'est ainsi qu'on arrive à un point où on subit notre vie plutôt que de la vivre pleinement en appréciant le simple fait de déguster une boisson chaude sous le soleil d'une ville gorgée d'histoire. D'autres pourraient vous affirmer qu'il est tout simplement trop tard pour changer de vie. Et bien figurez-vous que rien n'est jamais trop tard pour vivre une vie telle que nous la désirons. J'ai décidé de changer la mienne à l'âge de soixante-deux ans. Et oui, l'âge n'est pas un frein ! Voilà maintenant six ans que j'ai refusé de me laisser dominer par les codes et les règles d'une famille bien construite autour de valeurs plus anciennes que moi ! J'ai divorcé pour ne plus être une femme asservie qui se définit uniquement par son mari et ses enfants, même si j'aime ces derniers plus que tout au monde. J'ai repris des études et suis l'heureuse propriétaire aujourd'hui d'une boutique de pâtisserie, tout en tenant durant mon temps libre un blog sur "l'internet" pour partager avec qui le souhaite mon expérience et mes réflexions. A perk of being a Fae was being able to shift from lion whenever you pleased- However, Anais kept you a caged lion until you were freed in the 1900s.  Unwilling to venture back into the Fae realm, you had left for a reason you decided to be a part of the change in Cirque Noire. You have been with them since the overtaking of the cruel Anais Deveraux nearly a century ago.
