reading the star excerpt (link here)
i quite like the prologue. i like curlfeather taunting splashtail, i like his insecurity being exacerbated. i think it actually hammers in how young and out of his depth he is
which....sucks the rest of the books portray him as this manipulative mastermind. he's much more fun of a villain when you can see him scrambling for power (and losing it)
which makes the whole riverclan as poor victims kind of suck. icewing rightfully calls out her clanmates for being cowards for uh- *checks notes* using mothwing as target practice?? sorry we're going over the top evil i see. anyways, my point is....yeah, riverclan IS complicit in this, they DO have a choice to say no. splashtail doesn't even have enforcers like brokenstar and tigerstar did, it's literally just one guy - heck the warriors themselves are the enforcers.
fear becomes a limp excuse at this point. you guys gotta unionize or something.
i think the book is really struggling to make splashtail's NO MISS OHKO X9999 ULTRAKILL ATTACK an actual credible attack. look i get it they think he has nine lives, but the three of them could take on a teen i believe it.
i think because this arc won't acknowledge that riverclan is complicit in letting this fester, that they wanted this kind of leadership, it makes him fall flat. how much scarier would it be, more gray it would be, difficult, and so and so on if the clan rallied behind their leader because of the prior events? i get it, they're playing into the fear angle, but there NEEDS to be some more willing participants or this doesn't work.
the closest we get is this exchange but like. guys. the gathering exchange was stupid as hell.
also, you'd think every brit was the worst dog owner in the world LMAO these boys are screaming and straining on their leash while the owners chatting away. every dog in brit is some cat mauling beast i guess.
i was so ready for repetitive "why should we do X??" let's fight about it for the next few pages that it was a fucking relief that cloverfoot was just "yep bring them in!". fucking uh flashbacks from bramblestar's leadership lmao
the phrasing on this made me snick. "behaved so badly" makes it sound like she was kind of unruly, not plotted to overthrow her leader lmao
i dont wanna nitpick, i am actually enjoying that the plot is moving and that things are happening but like....minor waste of a shadowclan pov. you'd think with how often they like to make references to past events, sunbeam being a shadowclan cat could absolutely come in handy in this situation (considering they once had nightheart explain shadowclan history to a shadowclan cat) but when she wonders if riverclan can ever repair itself, it really doesn't come up. idk, i guess i think she could've had a more optimistic perspective but ultimately it really isn't the biggest of deals.
uh oh guys something ELSE happened?? wanna know what happens??? well go buy IVYPOOL'S HEART ONLY FOR 25.99 AVAILABLE NOW AT RETAIL OUTLETS CLOSEST TO YOU. BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW BUY NOW. DON'T YOU WANNA KNOW WHERE ICEWING IS GOING???? OOOH BUY OUR BOOKS!
Oooh the Gathering trap is actually good, ignoring how a lot of them get thrown the idiot ball a little bit to make it work. I figured it out quickly (even though this arc loves having shit happen offscreen), it's nice to see some trickery for once! only real drawback is the books once again going "what did splashstar do to riverclan??" as if he's mind controlling them. I'm gonna actually hold out on hope that this is a set up to Frostpaw realizing her Clanmates haven't been mind controlled or whatever, they're doing this because they want to, because splashstar's ideals appeal to them after everything.
it probably won't happen but i wanna hold out hope.
tentatively interested! preparing for status quo disappointment!

if you dont mind me asking, how do you plan what to write? im trying to do my own rewrite but i'm struggling a bit
So I’ll cover how I do a rewrite specifically, since that’s a little different from original works like a webcomic or a book. What I use personally is the “Snowflake Method” – start big, go small.
Start by figuring out what you want to do with your rewrite. Are you trying to make the story better? Is it an AU with one major change that alters the course of history? Are you just adding mythology? What’s your goal here? Rewrites should have a point that will help define how your story shakes out. For the purposes of this ask, we’re going to assume it’s just a major-change AU.
Once you have the purpose, you can start planning. The first important thing is to get a general, overall idea of how the story will go – something basic like “Firepaw joins ShadowClan right when Brokenstar comes into power, and he ends up leading a rebellion and defeating Brokenstar and his lackeys”.
You may have ideas at this point for small scenes and snippets of dialog (God knows I always do), so write all the little things you want to have happen down in no specific order, just as they occur to you. Save those for later.
With your general idea, start breaking it up into somewhat smaller story beats. “So Firepaw joins ShadowClan, then he’s taught how to fight, and he struggles because the fighting is so violent and cruel and he’s so young. Then he sees how Brokenstar leads and doesn’t like it, and he talks to his Clanmates and discovers they don’t like it either.” And so on, until you get to your ending. Remember, you don’t need to get too detailed right now; you’re just cutting the pie into smaller pieces over time. Those slices can get smaller as you go on.
If you have those small scenes and ideas laying around, start going over the generally-planned stuff and seeing where you can add in those things. Some of them, you’ll have to get rid of, because they don’t work or make sense, or they’re not fitting to the tone of the story. That’s totally fine. Killing darlings is part of the process. Those you can keep will help connect things together.
Continue getting more and more specific as far as you need to. “Firepaw fails his first fighting lesson, then he goes home in shame, then he’s talked to by Nightpelt who is sympathetic to his shame and admits he doesn’t like Brokenstar’s leading methods, which causes a small idea of changing things to bloom in Firepaw’s head”, etc. If you’re a thorough architect like me, you need as many details as you can get, but some people are good to stop at this point, or even before it, with vague notions they can write down and improvise in.
If you feel it would help, at this point you can write a detailed synopsis for the entire story – I do it chapter-by-chapter, listing everything that happens in each chapter so that I have bite-sized summaries that are easy to look through and change things in. Some people just need a general idea and they’re good to go, and that’s fine.
The one thing I want to emphasize is to keep in mind that you're doing a rewrite, and so you should ideally have something that makes your version stand out from canon. Things are a little easier because you have bedrock to work with that you can alter or discard as you like, but you still have to alter if you want your rewrite to not just be "canon but one tiny thing is different".
I hope this helps! Apologies if it's a little scattered, I'm very tired and distracted today.

surprise second round
this one requires you to learn things about my ocs. i beg of you to stay with me. you could also vote randomly if you want, i guess i dont actually care too much. but im giving you info so enjoy my info. theres art at the end after the poll go vote on my poll and see kitty art
SETTING THE SCENE:
applepaw is blind in her left eye due to a wound given to her by the shadowclan apprentice streampaw. the two of them keep far apart from each other ever since then- though streampaw was the winner, he left that fight with far less blood than he came into it with. its the only fight he doesnt go on long bragging retellings of.
riding the triumph of winning a battle with skyclan, redstar of thunderclan begins plans for an attack on their other neighbor, shadowclan. he's aiming for a complete takeover. absorbing shadowclan into his rule and hopefully shaking some of their close-knit culture apart. applepaw lost another fight in the battle with skyclan and barely survived, and now she's desperate to regain redstar's good image of her. she cant afford to show weakness again.
but applepaw is still adjusting to her new daily life and mobility after nearly getting her throat torn out- washing is hard, learning her new range of motion is hard, recovering emotionally from almost dying is hard. when it comes time to attack shadowclan's camp, she has to be realistic in who she can take on. she needs to go for someone closer to her age, skillset, and experience.
ivystripe is shadowclan's youngest warrior, just a little older than applepaw. they probably would have become warriors around the same time if applepaw hadnt lost so much time to healer's den rest orders. ivystripe has more experience than the average new warrior due to thunderclan's onslaught of aggression over the past couple of seasons, but so does applepaw.
streampaw is a couple moons younger than applepaw. he's on par with applepaw's experience, but has more connections in his clan and individual victories that keep him confident and defiant towards thunderclan. he overdoes his disdain for applepaw in a way she knows is because he's scared of fighting her again.
(ivystripe is as stressed as anyone about the times he lives in, but he kind of hopes the unrest gives him more opportunities to prove himself, and get him an apprentice early. he wants to give someone the same sense of belonging and purpose training with a mentor gave him. he's friendly with the warriors his age, but keeps to himself more often than the average shadowclan cat. he thinks that maybe if he had an apprentice, he could become closer with their family and be a "better" shadowclan cat.)
(streampaw is the deputy's son and isnt shy about it. streampaw isnt shy about anything. he's a loud presence at gatherings and is exactly the kind of tryhard that would injure applepaw the way he did. he wears his scars with pride. he has a massive crush on a dopey apprentice named sunnypaw and genuinely admires how hard he works to keep up with the more skilled apprentices. streampaw is good at spinning stories and getting cats on his side. he was an only child, a bad omen, and quickly grew to charm everyone around him to keep them from thinking about it.)

Two sides of the same coin
idk. i think theres a Lot of room for these two to be interesting together under the cut is how i would make them interesting To Me/partial avos rewrite, assume everything i dont mention is the same
about a year and a half ago @/cheecats posted this and i like this idea! it started making its rounds in my brain again and in my brain it Shifted, just a tad, and now we are here w this! thus we begin my madman rambling
prior to avos, rowanclaw is not a frequent character, he mostly just shows up to be mean and xenophobic, im p sure he shows up in night whispers as a good parent to his kids but for the sake of this im gonna ignore it and double down on the meanness, so for the rest of this im characterizing him as selfish, stubborn, mean, and someone who doesnt like being held accountable. do those traits sound familiar? they should, because im also describing onestar
we come to rowanclaw becoming leader, i want them to be Scarily similar, i need them to clash badly and be explosive because of said clash
they definitely differ tho! its just internally instead of externally. the biggest difference is that onestar is full of shame, regret, and self hatred. he knows that he shouldnt have ever met the kittypets. he knows he shouldnt have turned down darktail and because of him several kits died because he was a coward. he HATES that tallstar just had to make him deputy because that led to mudclaws death and him inevitably cutting off firestar. and he deeply regrets how he treated his old friend but he cant do much now as firestars dead! and he knows deep in his heart hes letting tallstar down. but if he drops the tough independent guy facade now and show how scared and regretful he actually is could lead to windclan being chased off again.
rowanstar on the other hand, is just Mean because thats all hes been surrounded by, 2 evil leaders, another who had a questionable history, and no shortage of clanmates who are just complete assholes. he doesnt have to prove shit to anyone in his clan, but he has everything to prove to the other clans as a new leader. hes not gonna be soft to them, fuck that! shadowclan can stand on its own w no help they got their shit down and everyone else needs to know that.
rowanstars cowardice isnt really recognized until after the kin shows up. he claims that he let them stay because theyre clearly strong. but hed never admit part of the reason he let them stay is because after bramblestar informed him that the rogues fought off onestar and his patrol that ultimately took one of onestars lives and killed furzepelt, he got scared to tell them no in case he met a similar fate.
in this hypothetical rewrite id switch the order of onestars and rowanstars deaths, so rowanstar dies at the end of the third book and onestar dies at the end of the fifth. because of that the circumstances around rowans death is changed a bit
so in some confrontation with the rogues, with rowan, tawnypelt, and tigerheart on one side with the kin on the other, tawnypelt ends up dying protecting rowanstar, because he let her take the killing blow. this is the first time hes shown visible terror, and because he didnt want to admit, even to himself, that this fight was his fault, and that because he was a coward and couldnt say no, he lost his mate, who was nothing but loyal to him.
skip to the end of shattered sky. theres another confrontation with the rogues. in this rowanstar doesnt step down! he still cant accept and doesnt want to admit that he was a coward, so he says the reason this happened was because he was too kind to his clan and to the rogues. the he gets killed.
this throws shadowclan under full control of the kin, and naturally this news spreads to windclan. and onestar is terrified out of his mind.
after a lot of projecting onto rowanstar, onestar realizes something: if he cant admit his faults, if he cant get over his pride, he will end up shamefully dying like rowanstar. and he recognizes that while he cant change the past, he can make the future better.
and so he tells everyone that darktail is his son and he steps down as leader. and in a way its freeing, this secret thats been eating him alive for years is now out in the open. he never knew darktail became this monster, onewhisker acknowledges that if it werent for his bad decisions as a young warrior, darktail wouldve never turned out this way, and he was gonna fix everything.
and then the battle that kills both of them happens the same as it does in canon, just later in the arc
-
ALL OF THIS TO SAY: rowan and one could have an interesting dynamic and it could be a cool parallel and i think if the erins tapped into that id like avos a lot more
#onestar#rowanstar#rowanclaw#darktail#rowan has such wasted potential! you could take him so many ways and i think it works regardless!#warrior cats#warriors

Hi its me again
I wanted to ask about badger dovewings relationship with shadowclan - did they let her in bc they wanted thunderclans live tank on their side or do they just like her? i havent rlly read oots(i'm getting around to do it tho) so i dont know what would change if dove was a badger
also i think cloudtail and brightheart would be great grandparents<3
Hello again i'm-smart-i-swear
So to answer the question, I'd imagine that after DoveWing had that dream and ran off from the clans to go with The Guardians for a bit (Remember, in this au they consist of both cats and badgers), TigerHeart brings her and the other cats from the Guardians back to Shadowclan.
I'd imagine that the cats of Shadowclan were very, very hesitant at letting a badger join their clan, but some of the guardian cats vouched for DoveWing and how they shouldn't look down on her or fear her for being a badger. It would still definitely take a good minute for Shadowclan to fully accept her because the badgers they've dealt with really don't like the clans. But after a while they do begin to warm up to her a lot. Some cats think that she's useful because she could help them in fights which makes her a little iffy, but usually she'll always have another cat who bumps right in and adds that they need to stop seeing her as a weapon and start seeing her as their clan mate, same with ShadowKit and PounceKit as they're both badgers too. Also Shadowclan had to listen to TigerHeart because he was now their leader, some of them trusted that he knew what he was talking about.
This is just a general rough idea for what I have in mind, maybe I'll add more onto it later on but we'll just have to see. Also yes, CloudTail and BrightHeart would be good grandparents and great grandparents to DoveWing and ShadowSight+LightPounce respectively, they don't care that they're all badgers

potionomics warrior cats au. robin is the leader of riverclan but i forgor him.
see more info below
Sylvia is cherryheart, former kittypet driven out of her home because she wanted to chase after what her uncle was doing in the woods. joins riverclan and eventually oswald (owlflank) joins as well. sylvia is a medicine cat with him!
muktuk is stonetooth a big massive warrior who is LOUD !! he isnt the best at hunting due to his Everything but very strong in a fight and a good mentor towards apprentices.
luna is mothblaze who was a kittypet too but left her home and her parents after hearing the stories of the clan cats much like firestar book 1. born with extra limbs that dont cuase her any pain but she cant move them!
baptiste is silverstar who became leader after both the dep and leader of the clan died and the medicine cat had a vision of silver flowers (old name silverpetal) not respected by his clanmates due to his Everything going on but yk hes baptiste! he has a good heart.
mint is mintclaw. wanted to be warrior since she was little itty bitty. currently the deputy of thunderclan
xid is jayleap (or maybe bonesong? both fuck imo). who was the old medicine cat of windclan who left after deciding she was sick of star clan and its visions, hanging out in thunderclan where only baptiste knows her story (everyone else thinks she was a loner who used to live in windclan territory). the skull like markings on her face are from chalk
corsac is fernsong who is this big strong cat who has spent a lot of time in and out of various woodland areas. not used to so many cats in one area. currently a warrior but training to become a medicine cat
roxanne is spiderwish who walked into shadowclan oneday like she owned the place bringing alone salt and pepper (who i forgot to mark as rogues <3) due to a lot of events happening roxanne joined the clan as a medicine cat and pepper became pepperstar with saltbite as his deputy. angered a LOT of clan cats when this happened but pepper and salt are good at their jobs so no one can complain
quinn is adderpaw a former member of shadowclan who fled shortly before roxanne and the rest joined it. i think their parents were the leader and deputy. was training to become a medicine cat thanks to their visions but decided they didnt want that. still gets them but refuses to listen to starclan. found a lil snake that acts as tehir boxer
saffron is deerstep. left thunderclan after the leader died (was the former deputy). now content to live just outside the thunderclan territory and keeping up with what is happening through patrolling cats who either talk a Lot thinknig she cant hear or entertain what they think is a curious loner.

since the results are in im gonna talk about my opinion on the results <3
since she got first place; ivypool- Guys Squirrelflight would not choose her as deputy. Ivypool would not make a good deputy. I can see Bramblestar picking Ivy, but Squilf? Not a chance unless she wants continuous hostility directed at Shadowclan. You cannot convince me that Ivy wouldn't become Thunderclan's own Breezepelt if she was made deputy. Squilf and Ivy would not get along. Ivyfool
Cinderheart is a lot more likely to be chosen. It would be a very satisfying addition to her arc :3 please let her be deputy
Twigbranch my best friend Twigbranch got in third. I am 100% sure she would aid in forming/strengthening an alliance with Skyclan. I am not catching up on ASC but from what I have gathered, Shadowclan & Skyclan aren't in great terms and there's like a rumor about Skyclan not sharing herbs ?? idk. I also just think she's nice Twig for the win 💯💯
Same thing with Cinderheart but without the arc because we don't know much about Whitewing but I can see Squilf picking her; I dont have high hopes the erins will though. I also was going to include Birchfall which I am kind of shocked nobody mentioned him. He has some history being a dark forest trainee who trained alongside his daughter and was even encouraged to fight the dark forest by her.
If, for what ever reason, Squilf makes Lionblaze her deputy, a giant sink hole will open up directly under Thunderclan, swallowing the entire camp and all who reside in it whole. Goodbye Thunderclan ❤ I saw a few Cherryfall's Sparkpelt and Lilyheart's which are also quite nice !! If Lilyheart is made deputy it is going to make Nightheart's chapters even worse and frankly I am tired of him being the erins mouthpiece to hate on women for no reason ❤
i know it was a joke but to the person who said Bumblestripe I want u to know the darkness you brought /j
Oh and I think the erins should pull another Heavystep situation and bring Rosepetal back to make her deputy.

there he is, me irl, my pathetic little meow meow, t-boy without swag, my most animator unfriendly design, SOL !!!!! headcanons under the cut as per usual :D !!
(note: the headcanons list is VERY long because i love sol and i infodumped about an au im working on as well)
headcanons
. transmasc + genderfluid + bisexual !!!!! he/they/she/it pronouns too :)
. he always looks a little damp
. the marking on his blaze is very reminiscent of a leader’s star, which i think would make it slightly easier for the clans (more specifically shadowclan) to trust him, aside from his convenient divine knowledge
. despite looking very graceful, he is EXTREMELY clumsy
. he’s actually pretty tall, and he uses this to his advantage
. what he has in height however he lacks in weight and strength. he could never win a fight if he ever managed to get in one
headcanons/info for my squirrelsol au
. okok this might be a lot but i dont know yet seeing as im still typing but
. ties into a brightstar au im working on !!
. during the forgotten warrior when sol is being held prisoner, he never manages to escape and kind of just has to stick around
. as time goes on, obviously he tries charming his way out of being a prisoner but it doesnt work
. squilf being known as one of the toughest warriors is usually the one to guard him
. they get to talking quite a bit and weirdly sol sympathizes with her situation a lot, though squilf is still a bit wary of him
. they especially bond over being trans
. by the time the great battle at the end of oots comes around, sol feels strangely attached at this point, and tries his best to help defend the camp
. after this, brightstar allows him to leave but he chooses to stay, not as a prisoner but just kind of a weird guy that some of the clan have become fond of
. biiig timeskip but after squirrelflight’s hope, she officially breaks it off with brambleclaw permanently (haven’t entirely worked out bramble’s role in this au but this works for now)
. at this point squilf and sol are very close, and they actually become mates soon enough
. not sure about kits but i really want them to have at least 1 named morningkit because i think it’d be sweet
. ALSO forgot to mention he becomes a den dad, being very fond of entertaining and taking care of kits, since he doesn’t enjoy hunting or fighting very much

flywhisker and snaptooth leaving really made me realize the clans could be so much more diverse. let cats who don’t want to be here anymore for whatever reason leave. let cats go on wanders to clear their minds. ravenpaw left when he didn’t feel safe, so why didnt various shadowclan and riverclan cats leave when the kin arrived? why didn’t any skyclan cats leave the lake feeling their new neighbors were too cruel? why didn’t more cats from all the clans leave during the imposters reign? it would help un-populate the clans and give opportunities to cats who werent very important before to speak their mind. on the other hand, let more cats join. loners and rouges interested in joining should be allowed in. theres no rule in the code saying they cant, so its all up to the leaders. daisy joined, stormcloud joined, why can’t more cats join? it would make the clan so much more interesting, with cats telling stories from outside the clans, cats having their own beliefs, less incest because less cats will be related to eachother, and there will be more cats with unique personalities instead of “oo i love starclan i need to serve my clan 100% of the time i am so loyal and cool!!” all the time. letting more cats in could also lead to new roles in the clans. have a cat whos not interested in hunting or healing? oh yeah, you wanna help build and create new ideas for the camp? sure! wanna tend to the elders, kits and queens? ok! wanna help the med cats but be an atheist at the same time? go ahead! if they dont wanna make a new role, they could atleast help the clans learn. teach them new hunting/fighting moves, teach them about new herbs and things far from clan territory. the clans could be so much more special! they would have all new cats, families and culture (?)! they could hold games days and night parties created by kittpets seeing their twolegs do stuff like this! if you let cats from different clans hang out more, it would lead to less useless wars and more peace. the clans could start to see themselves as less different. instead of being the five, separate groups of warrios, they would finally see themselves true warriors, strong, connected and free. no clan needs to think they are better than the other because they all know inside that they are equals. sorry this is long and might not make sense at all i just have many thoughts in my brain and dont know how to explain it well

Im not really a warriors fan (i know the basics of the setting and some major plot points ) so i dont totally understand what’s happening in your gnaw amv but i so want to hear that essay about needletail and violetshine, if you don’t mind saying who’s who from the video ^^;
Okay buckle in I'm unleashing the beast, this will be long and also mostly my take on them since I haven't read their series in a minute haha, I'm probably fuzzy on some of the finer details at this point. Warning ig for emotional neglect, drowning, death ect this chunk of the story gets pretty brutal!
Okay so the jist of Violet and Needles relationship is that they are two abused and neglected girls who become sisters not by choice but by pure circumstance. The clan they live in, Shadowclan, has been completely devastated by its string of tyranical leaders. They're always struggling and it makes them susceptible to cats with less kind goals coming in and having the clan fawn to them in the hopes of stability, it's pretty much decimated any community and order within the group. Currently the Needletail's generation have zero respect for authority within the clan and the clan don't have respect for them either. For example she was carried off by an eagle, dropped into the woods and became furious after her clan didn't bother to find or really react to her when she managed to drag herself back. Leads to a lot of bitterness and sparks of rebellion within the youth ect!
Violetshine was an outsider along with her sister Twigbranch, they were basically found in a big drain by Needletail and another cat while on a prophecy quest (I forgot the details lol). Basically the kittens were abandonned and seen as the goal of the trip, when they were brough back to the territories the clans fought amongst eachother over what clan they should go into (there's been a lot of prophecy cats and the clans at this point know that having one in their clan will be mega beneficial). The kittens are seperated between the two that found them so Violet went with Needle to shadowclan and twig went with alder to thunder. This is where shit starts to drive me INSANE because Twig basically gets like, several parental figures within thunderclan and stability while Violetshine is punted into this already really hostile environment.
She's given to a current nursing queen because she's very young here. It's really clear that pinenose isn't interested in her in the slightest it's an immediately neglectful situation, Violetshine also doesn't have Needletail because she viewed the whole thing as kind of a fetch quest and didn't immediately become a pseudo parent to violet the way alderheart did to twigbranch. She sees her as kind of an obligation and a bargaining chip, her clan gets annoyed with her for even saddling them all with a new kit who only Might have some kind of prophecy around her, I felt like this pushed Needle into feeling obligated to Violetshine in a way to just spite the rest of the clan. I think she also views having a kit tailing her around as kind of cool or satisfying, having someone look up to her even a little. I wish I could pull quotes but at this point Violetshine already views herself as a burden and finds all the random fights and cruelty of shadowclan as very normal.
Honestly there is a LOT of shit after this that I don't remember super well but I will try list it out, the conflict of this set of characters is insanely complicated for warriors standards. Needle and alder organize a few playdates for violet and twig to see eachother again, the contrast between their lives and how it's affected them is already Stark. Needle has a mean bitch friend, Sleekwhisker, all of their interactions feel like two rebellious teen girls and the toddler they don't really want around but who has no choice but to be there. Needletail tends to get grounded or punished by authority in the clan a lot and at one point she sends Violet out to talk to her rouge boyfriend for her. This is yet another outside group that's vulturing on the dissatisfaction within the clan and eventually Needle, Sleek and Violet join his group and leave Shadowclan for good. This group is even more unorganized and full of random violence, Needletail is often out with Rain, Sleek or Darktail, keeping Violet in a similar position to how she started. From here it gets really complicated, there's a lot of push and pull between Violetshine and Needletail between caring about eachother, fighting, between Violet feeling like a burden to her and eventually leaving, hurting Needletail who deep down does kind of rely on being Someone to Someone. Violet rejoins Shadowclan, Needle is bitter and hurt, Violet is bitter at her sister Twig for being very idealistic and ignorant of the kind of life Violet's led so far and how unstable Shadowclan is.
Even MORE spiralling downwards, Violet and Twig live together briefly and Violet is hurt and betrayed realizing her sister is going home (Similar to needletail, you have this hope of someone who will stay with you through an abusive situation and then suddenly they are gone). Needle and Violet are then both living in the Kin again and both become closer to Darktail, who is the mega villain manipulator basically. There's this constant sense of Needle and sleek being his new right hands and violet who is still young at this point, becoming another informant. It becomes this game of like, inner group politics, and these two trying to survive under a cat who is quickly becoming like an actual dictator, taking over other clans, taking prisoners ect ect ect. Violetshine watches Rain try to kill Darktail only to fail and die at his hands instead. Needletail begins to doubt him now, seeing as he's killed her partner.
I don't remember exactly what insights this but Violetshine does something here that winds up in Darktail punishing Needletail harshly. Darktail is very much the kind of character who rotates who he is focusing on based on who will be the most obedient, Violetshine being a traumatized young cat who is used to keeping her head down and being told what to do, is perfect for this when Needle proves too difficult. Needletail is kept in a den of prisoner cats who are currently being starved slowly, obviously this eats Violetshine alive. She tries to sneak in food to Needletail but she is almost entirely unresponsive, and as a cat who has been cruel and complicit in Darktail's crimes she only gives the food to the other prisoners instead. I wish I could pull out quotes but there are so many tiny moments of kindness from Needletail that drive me insane because to me it really reads as a deeply traumatized teen, playing up whatever appearance will make her strongest and will make the world make sense finally. And you get to see these tiny glimmers of times in private where she feels more like a scared kid too, times where she's alone and asks Violet to stay with her.
After years of becoming slowly discomforted by the violence she's used to she decides to try poison Darktail. This fails, this fails. Darktail and Sleekwhisker have begun drowning traitorous cats in the lake, Violetshine is next. He brings Needletail out and tells her she can regain his trust if she kills Violet. Needletail again is like, emaciated, distant, literally says that the light's gone from her eyes ect. Violetshine, riddled with guilt, feeling like the one consistent cat in her life hates her and wants her dead, she feels like she is going to die there and she will deserve it, she understands it. Instead Needletail pins her, she tells her to run, she turns on Darktail and attacks him to buy her more time and she is eventually drowned. They kind of mega botch Violetshine's ptsd over this later on but when it's good it's fucking insane, the amount of sheer guilt she feels over this cannot be said enough. That's the main moment I had boarded for the pmv because this sheer emotional tangle of two cats that to be frank! Have not been good to eachother, Needletail is not a good person, Needletail was not a good person to be in charge of a child but the complexity outweighs that for me. Despite everything these two didn't have a choice but to care for and need eachother because they were both in a bad place. They didn't HAVE other options, this unhealthy dynamic was what they had left in terms of care and stability. After everything, even though you would think Needle might resent Violet, it was all just hurt and fear and she died young to buy the cat she couldn't BE a good sister to more time, give her one last chance, maybe she can get out, maybe she can make it count and live a better life after this.
Later later on in the arc she comes back as a ghost whatever and Violetshine apologizes, she's still riddled with guilt, she still blames herself, and Needletail tells her they are sisters.
MAYBE IT MAKES ME UNWELL. K? anyway here's my designs for them. Most of the reason I might not finish that video is cause I have no clue how to translate all the micro details of their relationship into a video at all and I don't want to make one unless I can explicitly hit all of it. I don't think many people feel this way abt this arc and these characters but as a severe emotional neglect understander, they sincerely drive me insane I cried so hard over Needletail's death hahaha
They share a lot of small similarities, Violet and Darktail have similar eye markings and inverted tails, Needletail has similar markings on her mouth and ears to him because she listens and agress with his words initially. ect ect <3
#frankly I think violetshine's internal monologue and feelings are insanelyyyyyyyyyyyyy hard hitting#that cat has cptsd for the first 3 books before they fumble her supremely#OH FUCKING ALSO#i picked gnaw as the song bc it's very much like#tthis complicated relationship between a bully and his victim and like#seeing yourself in him#it drives me insane

Ive always kinda had this idea of where i wished nightstar hadn’t died to the sickness that plagued shadowclan but was still sick with it when tigerstar was exiled
With like tigerclaw was conspiring with some cats from shadowclan and talking about how nightstar was still weak even after getting his 9lives(in this idea he still doesn’t but they dont know that) and they come up with the idea to plant fake signs from starclan that tigerclaw should be the new leader(Snag, a shadowclan cat, breaks off one of his claws for a claw prophecy, maybe runningnose see the same tiger pattern in the shadows like in “exile in shadowclan etc)
So when tigerclaw finally shows up, he challenges nightstar, who is still weak but takes on the challenge to not show it in front of his ravaged clan. They fight and a combination of the sickness, his asthma, and the fight, he dies. When he doesn’t revive, tigerclaws followers say how starclan took nightstars lives bc he wasn’t strong enough and from all the “prophecies” that shadowclan has been receiving, it’s obvious that tigerclaw should lead them
Idk, ive always wanted the whole “a leader could lose nine lives” things to be foreshadowed but still having a plot twist with scourge ACTUALLY taking all of tigerstars lives, with nightstar just never having them at all
Oooh, that would be neat!!! Honestly, it would be a pretty interesting way for Nightstar to go...but also would cast a really interesting layer of doubt for Firestar. He can't argue because he wasn't there and multiple ShadowClan cats are corroborating the story...did StarClan really take Nightstar's lives? Lots of drama potential, very interesting.

A Starless Clan / River spoilers
-----
I think its interesting that cats in the clans are finally really being personally affected by their leaders, like with Twigbranch getting scared by Bramblestar being demanding about prey, or how Lightleap is getting into so much trouble plus Shadowsight having also gotten into a lot of trouble last arc and Shadowclan actually talking about how Tigerheartstar is treating them as his kids verses anyone else, and so on... plus it's like Nightheart's whole thing to be displeased by everything around him and wanting anything else with his life.
It's nowhere near the levels I'd personally want, given how terrible most warriors have been treated lately by their leaders and how most conflict is very much driven just by leaders' opinions on matters (like, look at Lionblaze immediately intending to kill Shaodwsight while he was in power, or how all of the conflict with the Sisters was mostly caused by Bramblestar and other leaders and senior warriors being complete assholes). I want it talked about more! I want to see more Riverclan warriors talk about how they didn't like Mistystar leading for so long and kicking Mothwing out (and the fact nobody has brought up that Mothwing lived away from them for so long and is now leading them herself?? That should at least be mentioned...) and becoming a community-led clan! I want Thunderclan to keep complaining about the issues with all powerful positions are held by a single family and to keep that from ever happening again. I want Shadowclan to do something about its instability and get rid of leaders all together and have more of a council to lead them or something to avoid another Brokenstar, Rowanstar, or Darktail ever happening again. I'd love to see Windclan to decide they'd rather be a sort of democracy, as many cats may be uncomfortable still with Harestar and Crowfeather being leaders (like,,, Crowfeather has been the cause of so much drama, I cant imagine too many cats are very happy with him still, like why is Thunderclan so not eager to move on from anything Squirrelflight has done but immediately forget Crowfeather's arguably larger part in a good portion of that drama, or how Harestar trained in the Dark Forest and how he didn't do anything about Breezepelt fighting with the Dark Forest in the final battle?? I'd think that's very suspicious if I were a Windclan cat imo). Also I'd love Skyclan to return to their unique roots, let them go even more wild with names, bring back Daylight warriors, and give them a system entirely of their own! I dont see why they wouldn't be fed up with the clans' current way of life with how much shit they've been handed constantly.
If this arc is really going to lean into implementing major changes, they really need to have more cats speak in favor of it! All of Riverclan seems to be so against it and can't even think for themselves? If they can't even try to come up with their own solutions, how can we expect them to agree to change how leadership works in the future? It doesn't feel like they'll have a natural progression towards that at this rate (I know it's very early in the arc, I'm willing to give it time, but nobody is even trying in the books right now). Like this would have been a good point to have younger cats want change and be dissatisfied just like the young Shadowclan warriors and apprentices were in A Vision of Shadows. Maybe even bring back Sleekwhisker and have her help ignite these changes, finish her arc!
Idk, I just want these background characters to say more than just what the authors themselves want to say and give multiple opinions through these cats, because right now it's all very monotone, in both River and Thunder especially!

Hey Tumblr-clan It's me, ya gurl
Soooo I wanted to share a bit of my own Warrior Cats Rewrite wich is 90% self indulgent SPITE and 10% of needing to share my ideas with the fandom.
Either way, I only focused mostly the gist around the first part so nothing too big for now! But here are some info abt it:
Firstly: the "Fire Alone" prophecy actually plays a huge part in the story and not only in Thunderclan. This prophecy is meant to help all clans and it wasn't given by Starclan; it was actually bigger entities (AKA the first big cats and the oldest one of all "The great Saber"; who will act as god-roles but they're mostly unknown to the clans, only rhat the big cats once roamed the earth and ruled all cats)
And when the prophecy is given, there are great tensions between the clans and the Sunnigrocks and Windclan/Shadowclan battles haven't happened yet. So everyone is stepping on eggshells but mostly because things are tense. And then when the Gathering is about to be finished, comets spar throughout the star-lit sky and all cats are speechless. And as the wind starts to howl, a deep reverberating voice echoes through the forest. Not only leaders and medicine cats hear the prophecy, it's literally the entire forest, even those who were not present at the Gathering heard it:
"When the River runs dry;
When the Shadows fade to white;
When the Wind is left behind
And when the Thunder loses it's might:
The Blood will sweep the forest
But Fire alone will save the Clans. "
AND EVERYONE IS FUCKING SPEECHLESS. Like: this is one of the biggest and darkest profecies because ALL CLANS are in danger and no one knows what it means and how they can stop it. Specially since fire destroys and it won't save anyone.
Until a young fire-colored she-cat joins Thunderclan with her brother, and young black tom with a white paw, and decides that all clans should be helping eachother instead of fighting. And when all seems lost to each and every clan, she helps them time and time again; making the clans get more close and also dissipating moons of rivalry by helping instead of denying others the help they need.
In this, Fireheart isn't the fire simply because she will eventually lead the clans against Bloodclan (who isn't led by scourge since he joined thunderclan with her), but instead, she's the spark to the fire that burns within every single cat's heart due to their love and respect for their clan, and desire to save their clanmates and the forest itself. And it gets hammered down when Iceshade(Tiny) joins Shadowclan, when she takes both Sandstorm and Riverstream as mates and when she is best friends with Bushwhisker (Onewhisker). Basically having some relationship in all clans and having a major reason to help them, even everyone seems to distrust her for being too kind.
But yeah, she doesn't turn into the Thunderclan leader, that goes to Sandstorm, but she actually gets a major role that also gets 9 lives and a title before the battle. She gets the name "Firespirit" and is the first cat to have the spirit suffix. She gets one life from the first big 4 cats (Lion, Tiger, Jaguar and Cheetah), the great Saber, and the 4 founding leaders. (Skyclan will be done with the TNP gang so they dont get into the story now). So basically she's a Mediator to all clans and helps everyone with their issues and diplomatic meetings and decisions if necessary.
Starclan gets pissed with this decision, since they are a Hivemind made of ancient cats so they will also be a big threat. And those who don't trust starclan go somewhere else so no need to worry abt our favorite babies getting brainwashed. But yeah they are a threat as much as the Dark Forest.
But so far that's all I have with deep detail, just wanted something where the clans could be joined somehow and this way the inter-clan relationships aren't forbidden BC fuck you Starclan and shitty Warrior code rules.
But yeah, leader of leaders Firespirit
(After Firespirit dies, Hollyleaf takes her grandma's place, as she deserves, making her Hollyspirit)
Not your usual WC AU but I just really like this idea
i do like the idea of hollyleaf becoming like a great mediator between clans and mediator not being a made up role just cause tree doesn't like to fight or hunt (he's also barely actually successfully mediated, he has like a 50/50 chance) i also really like the big cats having more of a role and i REALLY love starclan being just as much of a threat as the dark forest that's such a good idea, like they're more like a cult in death than an afterlife, as well as the "fire" being in ALL of the cats
you might be giving me a couple ideas of my own to add to my rewrite

you can't just post your five oc leaders and expect us to not want to know more! do they lead the five canon clans or are these totally new ones? how did shadestar get that scar? what are all their personalities like? Lichenstar looks kind, are they? I want to know more about them, pease share more information about your ocs
fiiiinne if you insist /lh
but yes, they are leaders of the preexisting clans!
ill keep it to just the two u mentioned just to keep it at a reasonable length
ill start with shadestar, leader of shadowclan!
formerly shadestare, hes always been a noble, stoic kind of guy. hes got a low, quiet voice, hes not the type to raise his voice in anger. hes extremely devoted to shadowclan and starclan, hes proud to be their leader, theyve done so much for him and he tries to show his gratitude every single day
the previous leader sent him and 4 other cats on a patrol to investigate a strange scent, which ended up being a pack of foxes (still pending on specifically what the scent was but foxes will be the placeholder for now). the foxes took the lives of the 4 cats he was with and left him critically injured. most notably he lost his left eye and leg, and gained a permanent notch in his tail. he figures it was best he went on that patrol, better four cats dead than 5 right? and starclan obviously wanted, needed, him to live, it was their plan he said.
his clan supported him through and through, they were so patient and willing to help him through his physical and mental trauma. they didnt try to send him to the elders or medicine cat den, they knew he was capable of his normal duties post recovery, but even if he couldnt, he wouldve been appreciated and cared for regardless. it would take getting used to of course, it wouldnt be like it was before, but it was more than possible to create a new normal.
the leader offered him the deputy position after he recovered as an "im sorry for nearly sending you to your death", shadestare didnt really understand why and he never really wanted the position, but the leader, the clan, had faith in him, and he had faith in starclan that this was his destiny, so he took it, and he ascended to leader not long afterwards.
even then he didnt want this, he was granted a rare opportunity and still, it wasnt clicking in his head. he couldnt deny it now, it was at his paws, and he couldnt throw shadowclan into a civil war, not after all theyve done for him. he was going to make it work, for them.
he made his deputy someone who wanted the position much more than he did (have not decided a name for them yet), he only thought it fair to give them the opportunity. they respect each other, no doubt about it, but unfortunately, they dont work well. shadestar isnt a natural leader, hes not very decisive and he needs his hand held. the deputy, is not patient enough for that and its frustrating, understandable, but very very frustrating. they manage though!
~~~
now for lichenstar of thunderclan!
he is a kind guy! his warrior name was lichenpatch!
back in his younger years he was much more of an active leader, in stereotypical thunderclan fashion he would fight for what he believed in and had no trouble if it started a battle, you couldnt change his mind if he actually believed in it.
but now hes the cat equivalent of a 90 year old, his bones dont work that well anymore and hes mellowed out a ton, he just doesnt have it in him to fight anymore if he can avoid it. he wouldnt even say hes in the drivers seat in terms of thunderclan leadership, that roles been largely taken over by his newest deputy, blazefeather, whos very young and is in a better state of mind to make bigger decisions. blaze was made deputy because has a similar fire that lichen did when he was a young warrior, so he trusts his deputys judgement. but while were talking about deputies, lets talk about who had the position before blaze.
lichenstar has had several deputies of course, hes been leading a long time, hes had 4 all together. the one before blaze was cleardawn, a very mature, thoughtful cat, and everyone thought for sure he was going to become clearstar, but then he was murdered (along with a skyclan warrior, ill get into that if i make a similar post for the other 3 leaders), and it was almost certainly by a fellow clan cat.
and this freaks out all of thunderclan, especially lichenstar. he fears it was a thunderclan cat trying to worm their way into the leadership position, mainly because lichen hasnt exactly been secretive about the fact hes on his last life. the thought terrifies him to death, hes been having nightmares about it, and all he can really do is push the thought away because his warriors are loyal, they wouldnt do that to their beloved deputy.
this has pushed him to be a little more active in clan politics. he wants to keep an eye on everything, because what if it was blazefeather? what if it was one of his fellow leaders? he cant be sure, he just needs to play it safe.
~~~
teehee. thats all 4 now. gut bye

Favorite villain? I have to go with the OG Tigerstar, he reminds me so much of Shere Khan from the Jungle Book, and I’ve always imagined him with the voice of Tony Jay, or second choice of George Sanders. The way Tigerstar died was a shocker too. Also, what character do you think should be in the Dark Forest? It’s Rainflower, Sandgorse, Raggedstar and Clear Sky for me. Rainflower abused Crookedstar just for this looks, Sandgorse abused Tallstar just because he didn’t want to be a tunneler, and Raggedstar was abusive to Yellowfang. I haven’t read that much of Clear Sky, I’ve only just read Moth Flight’s Vision, but in that book he ordered another cat to go after Micah who was killed because of it, and then literally did nothing afterwards. I’ve heard he’s done other bad stuff too! Thoughts ?
Some of my favorite villains are Scourge, Sol, Mapleshade and Dark Tail!
Scourge is just,,,such an interesting yet very simple villain? Like, he just wants revenge and just like Tigerclaw, his greed is ultimately what gets him killed. The first of many who have fact relieved about them after the fact and kts never addressed in canon (him and Firestar being half brothers, honestly I kind Scourge and Tigerclaw being half brothers would've been more interesting)
Sol is just pretty and dumb and i like that in a villain. He is also simultaneously the smartest cause he survived tricking Blackstar (he lived only cause of his looks...and probably cause he literally just d i p p e d) and he survived both of his encounters with the clans in general. Hope he's fat and happy wherever he is.
Mapleshade is a horrible, terrible woman and i love her. Like, awful person, cool character as far as warrior villains go. She's also the only character i like that ive goten anon hate over so...yeah. Feel like if the erins wanted her to come off as more sympathetic in her backstory they should've leaned into her actually naively thinking her kits could stop thunderclan and riverclan from fighting or making her a toxic positive kind of person instead (like, she cant or wont recognize Appledusk as a not great person or her giving excuses for everyone else so when she finally acknowledges all the bad stuff it hits harder or something) or maybe if we saw more of her life before Appledusk and her kits. Either way, deserves to be in the dark forest, BRUTAL lady, dont know why she wants revenge agaisnt all the clans when she's so obviously has a blood feud that ends with Stormfur and Reedwhisker.
Dark Tail is actually scary. Like, Tigerclaw was sneakily scary, you never knew when he was gonna strike next but with Dark Tail he just felt unstoppable. Stupid backstory, like, I hate it so much, but Dark Tail in general was really cool and the fact he tore shadowclan in two (again...leave my favorite clan alone erins come on) was cool (despite the fact we've seen this before e r i n s). He should've killed Mistystar, he also should've been in the second half of Avos instead of first. Him following Skyclan wouldve made the conflict better and feel like the otber clans distrust and weird hate for skyclan a little founded in logic then just them being dumb cause the plot died with the villain.
Cats who should've gone to the DF -
ASHFUR WE ALL KNOW WHY
Rainflower, ABSOLUTELY should've been in the Dark Forest. We should've seen Rainflower crawling up to Crookedstar begging for forgiveness, playing up an act like she changed but Crookedstar just turns away from her cause he knows she hasn't changed at all.
Sandgorse is...iffy for me? I haven't finished reading Tallstar's revenge but he never came off as abusive to me? I could be wrong cause I have also been under the false impression that Shrewclaw wasn't abusive either so if I am wrong I apologize. He just feels like he more...frustrated than angry at Tallkit/paw and he didn't handle it well. (Which still isnt great, you're allowed to be frustrated but you should never take it out on your kids regardless of the circumstances) So I'll get back to you on this one.
Raggedstar defiantly deserves it, I think Oakstar (TC) should also be in the Dark Forest for kitten endangerment and starting an ultimately pointless war with kittypets. Like. Seriously man.
I haven't finished nor do i think I ever will finish DoTc. But from what i hear Clear Sky sucks so yeah ill agree with that one. If Gray Wing is silverpelt than Clear Sky can be the stubborn bitch keeping everyone in the DF. He is the swampy ground, the grabing, pulling foliage, he is the clear, empty sky above you and he is the reason that you are a l o n e...cause if he had to be alone, then so do you. Also Clear Sky just...sucks so yeah throw him in the naughty kitty pit with the rest of 'em.
#firepaw-cant-count#warrior cats#ask#asked and answered#battle strategy#my opinion#my kind of dumb opinions#tbh#tiger being voiced by same guy who voice shere khan sounds wicked as hell
