Listen I was an enjoyer of the “Haymitch is not as Woods-smart as Katniss is” idea but I can’t tell you how much I can appreciate the canon fact that he went into the woods at her age too. For many reasons, but partially because a lot of my fanfiction/aus included that implicitly.

Specifically post-war Haymitch; I like to think that he'd get back into hunting and/or just going out there, for various reasons (perhaps for some more self-reliance, to seek old familiarity/ attempt at healing old wounds, to find some peace, as a useful activity/'hobby' to keep his mind occupied, as a way to subconsciously stay close to Katniss, etc)

At least in some aus—I can also see an argument that he would NOT like to go back into the woods post-war lmao.
