At September’s UN General Assembly in New York, Brazil’s President Lula described the international financial system as a “Marshall Plan in reverse” in which the poorest countries finance the richest. Driving the point home, Lula thundered, “African countries borrow at rates up to eight times higher than Germany and four times higher than the United States.” Lula is not alone in this diagnosis. Centrist technocrats par excellence Larry Summers & NK Singh coauthored a report earlier this year arguing that the development world’s mantra to scale up direct financing to the global South—from “billions to trillions”—has failed. Instead, global finance seems to be running in the opposite direction, from poor to rich countries, as was the case last year. Summers and Singh summarize the arrangement thusly: “millions in, billions out.” Added to this is the great global shift to austerity that makes a mockery of climate and development goals. It’s in this context that talk of “green Marshall Plans”—proposed by Huang Yiping in China and Brian Deese in the US—must be received. Negotiations over technology transfer, market access, and finance deals are a permanent feature of the new cold war: call it strategic green industrial diplomacy. Both the American and Chinese proposals, such as they exist, aim to subsidize the export markets of allied countries to build foreign support for domestic industries. For developing countries, this could mean manufacturing green goods to grab a slice of the trillions of future green economic output and develop themselves, and a policy choice to meet their development goals by either making or buying cheap, clean energy generation, electricity storage, and transport. Putting aside the dubiousness of the historical analogy to the United States’ postwar aid program to Europe, the critical element—and the one that seems least likely for either China or the US to pursue in earnest given their domestic political obstacles—is the provision of the kind of financial and industrial support that low- and middle-income countries need. The geoeconomic contest between the US and China rests on which of the two can forge domestic political coalitions that meet the demand of developing countries for local manufacturing value add in green value chains, without which the South will remain merely an export market or a resource colony.
[...]
The optimistic Marshall Plan proposals are not entirely hot air; each attempts to extend aggressive domestic policies globally. China and the US have both made bids on an investment-led partial solution to their respective domestic political and economic challenges, with a focus on clean-energy industries. Their shared formula can be summarized as national strength through industrial renewal. In both countries, domestic industries have been offered ample fiscal support; Biden’s suite of tax credits and subsidies has already spurred more than $400 billion in investment in clean energy and clean-tech manufacturing and generation, and China’s central government, already dominant in clean tech manufacturing, is now concentrating its efforts on next-generation technologies and economic self-reliance.

Chapter 21
The next few months brought a hectic change to Khushi's life. As their return to India was delayed, she finally enrolled for her last semester at the University of London. Living in a foreign country was one thing, but attending university with people from different cultures was a completely different experience altogether. Though the experience was terrifying at times, it was also profoundly wholesome.
She also met two of her best friends, whom she would cherish for the rest of her life. They would become her partners in establishing the charitable foundation "Little Happiness" which she would build later in her life from scratch. They would also be the first people, besides Arnav, to read the first draft of her debut book, actually almost every book, she would write in future.
One of them, Nithin Kingsley, "Hamari dost hume pyaar se NK bulate hain"-that's his words, not Khushi's, was someone she met in the neighbourhood actually. NK was Devyani Ji's grandson, the son of her daughter who lived in Spain. NK wanted to visit India, so he came to see his grandmother to refine his Hindi. During his stay, Nani Ji, Khushi, and NK embarked on a hilarious journey to sharpen NK's Hindi skills. Through their amusing and sometimes chaotic attempts, NK and Khushi formed an unlikely friendship that lasted a lifetime.
And the other best friend she met, was in university through the extracurricular society she had reluctantly signed up for to earn extra credits. She chose the literary society, driven by her lifelong aspiration to become a writer. The members were divided into groups of ten, each tasked with staging a play in collaboration with the theatrical society. Her group was assigned the play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare.
It was during the preparation for the play that she met Lalita Kensington. Lalita was the leader of the team, barking orders at everyone. She appointed Khushi with the duty of setting up the fairy lights on the stage to set up the right mood for the actors. Somehow, unbeknownst to anyone, Khushi got entangled in the fairy lights, which were accidentally switched on. From that moment, the team started calling her "Chamkili" to tease her. One day, when Lalita called her by that name, Khushi stood up to her and said she didn't like being called 'Chamkili'.
That day, after wrapping up their dialogue writing class for the literary society, Lalita offered Khushi a bar of chocolate and a dazzling smile.
"Hello, my name is Lalita Kensington. My friends affectionately call me 'La.' You can call me that too," Lalita said, extending a hand to Khushi. "I am sorry I called you 'Chamkili' earlier."
"It's okay," Khushi chuckled, offering her a friendly smile. "Hi, my name is Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada. People affectionately call me Khushi."
"Wow, you have such a long name. But why did you laugh? Are you making fun of my name?" Lalita asked scrunching her eyebrows.
"No, no. Your name reminded me of my neighbour. He talks like you, actually. His name is Nithin Kingsley, but people affectionately called him NK." They both shared a gleeful laugh.
"Is he cute?"
And that's how their banter began, becoming seemingly unstoppable whenever these two friends got together. They bonded over their shared love for literature and food. And Khushi found a precious friendship she had never expected. So it was very surreal for Khushi when the two best friends of hers met and formed an instant connection.
It was her 20th birthday. Nani Ji and NK had planned a surprise for her. Nani Ji baked a cake and came to visit her in the afternoon. Khushi was so happy. She made jalebis and rabri for her birthday and offered them to Nani Ji and NK. As she was making tea for them, the doorbell rang.
"Khushi ji, chinta mat kijiye. Main dekhta hoon," NK's voice filtered through the kitchen.
As NK opened the door, it felt as though time had slowed down. He came face to face with a girl who made his heart almost stop beating as he stared at her without blinking even once.
"Hello," Lalita said, waving a hand in front of him.
"Hi," he murmured breathlessly.
"Who are you? Where's Khushi?"
"Main Khushi ji ka beiman hu."
"Aap Khushi ka kya hain?" she said, doing a double take.
"Beiman, you know, guest."
"Beiman nahi, mehman hota hain."
"Aap Indian ho?"
"Half-Indian. Meri ma Indian hain, dad British."
"Mera bhi. Actually my mom is half-Indian and dad British."
As Khushi approached the front door, she found NK staring foolishly at her best friend with heart-eyes.
Lalita asked Khushi lowly, "Who's this cartoon?"
"La, this is my neighbour I told you about, remember? La, meet Nithin Kingsley, aka NK."
"Hi, I am NK. Aur aapki takleef?"
"What?" Lalita rolled her eyes and added, "Takleef nahi, tareef hota hai. I am La, I mean Lalita Kensington."
"Aap meri dil ki baat kitni achi tarah se jaanti hain, Lalita ji."
Khushi saw Lalita roll her eyes at him again, but a small smile ghosted her lips as he gazed at her with stars in his eyes. Over the next few weeks, NK talked her head off by alternately talking about Lalita and how much he would miss Khushi when she leaves London next month.
"Lalita ji kitni nice hai na, I mean unka face, unki aankhein, unki baal, unki naazuk haath, sab kuch..sab kuch...kitna... kitna nice hai na.....Aur lalita ji jab bathein karti hain....oh..oh..hoo..wow, ese lagta hain ke jese ki saari duniya geyi jhaar mein."
"Hmm."
"Khushi ji, aap agle mahine chale jayenge, hum aapko bohot miss karenge."
"NK, I'll give you my address. Come visit me when you come to India."
The remaining time before going back to India was spent preparing and saying goodbyes. It was a bittersweet moment for Khushi. As for Arnav, he didn't form any emotional attachment to the city, but Khushi had a feeling that she would miss it somehow. She would always hold dear the moments, good or bad, that she spent in this city. She would miss Devyani Ji, NK, and La. She would always miss the cottage that had seen so many of their moments and had been with them through thick and thin. She would also remember the bitter moments, as those had taught her to be better in life.
"Do you need any help wearing that saree? " Arnav asked from the doorway of their room, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"NO, absolutely not. don't come near me," Khushi said rapidly shaking her head. "I don't want to be late for this party."
"Come on, let me help. You're obviously struggling over there," Arnav said, moving closer. "See, this part is sticking out." He tugged at a loose part of her saree from her waist, causing the fabric to unravel completely.
"Arnav!!!!!" Khushi whined, stomping her feet.
Arnav raised his hands in a sign of surrender and flopped down on the bed, hugging a pillow.
"Since when did you make so many best friends? Now you want to go to a girl's birthday party you met six months ago instead of spending this Sunday evening with your husband. I thought I was your best friend," he said, sulking a little.
Khushi let go of the saree and carefully draped it over the back of a chair in the corner of their room, and went to him.
"You are my ultimate best friend," she said, kissing his cheek. "And you will come with me too. When I can attend La's birthday again, only God knows."
"No, I don't want to be at a girly party. I'll drop you off and then pick you up," he said broodily. "Don't you have NK to accompany you, by the way?"
"Come on, Arnav, kya aap hamare liye itna bhi nahi kar sakte?" she said, messily kissing him all over his face.
"Gimme some more, then I'll think about it," Arnav mumbled with a faint smile at the corner of his lips.
Khushi started kissing his face with renewed enthusiasm. "Please, Arnav... please... please...please," she punctuated each word with a kiss.
Laughing out loud, Arnav rolled them over, bringing her body beneath his as he captured her lips.
"Don't make me late," Khushi whispered against his lips.
"It's not late Khushi. It's called fashionablely late," he said deepening the kiss.
It was her graduation day. As Khushi stood at the crossroads, where one chapter ended and another began, she looked back at her life and couldn't help but feel a deep swell of pride for the journey that had brought her to this moment. She wasn't supposed to be here-by all accounts, the path that led to this grand hall in London, dressed in her cap and gown, was one she was never meant to walk. Yet here she was, standing among her peers, experiencing the culmination of her dreams in this prestigious graduation ceremony.
As Khushi approached the stage to collect her degree, her eyes instinctively sought out Arnav in the crowd. He was beaming at her, pride shining unmistakably in his eyes, a look that warmed her heart and steadied her nerves. Beside him, NK and La were clapping and cheering loudly, their excitement echoing through the grand hall. Their support wrapped around her like a comforting embrace, filling her with a sense of belonging and accomplishment as she prepared to take the final step in this remarkable journey.
Lavanya paced the length of her dimly lit study, the soft light of the antique lamp casting long shadows on the walls. Her gaze fell upon the framed photographs of her youth scattered on the desk. The faces of her friends, her late mother, and a younger, more carefree Lavanya stared back at her. She sighed, her reflection in the polished wood of the desk a reminder of the person she used to be.
She thought about her mother, who had passed away when she was just twelve. A profound sadness washed over her as she wondered if her mother would be proud of the person she had become-resentful, vindictive, and delusional. The answer, she realized, was no. Her mother would not be proud.
For the past ten years, Lavanya had navigated life largely on her own. Her father's absenteeism had been compensated with expensive gifts and empty promises. He would often say, "Lavanya, you can have anything you want, dear." She grew up believing that she could indeed have everything she desired, and she did. She gained a myriad of material possessions and excelled in academic proficiency, yet there was one thing she couldn't have-HIM.
Her childhood friends, Pam and Sim, often told her, "Lavanya, you are so beautiful. You can have anyone worshipping the ground you walk on." Yet, despite their reassurances and the suitors who pursued her, Lavanya had eyes only for Arnav. He possessed an elusive quality that enchanted her, a quality so captivating that she failed to see she was building a castle in the clouds.
Arnav's words rang true. "It's but a shadow and a thought that you love." He was right. She had convinced herself that she loved him and envisioned a future together, yet she knew so little about him. She did not know about his dreams, his fears, what made him tick and all the things that mattered to him at all, nothing. In her obsession with Arnav, she had turned her own life into a distorted reflection of what she thought love should be. Her fixation had not only clouded her judgment but had also caused pain to someone who had been entirely innocent in this process.
Lavanya gave the driver meticulous directions to her destination. With a deep breath, she stepped out of the car. Her heart pounded with anxiety, as she had no idea how she would react.
As she approached the house, Lavanya saw her through the window, curled up with a book. She drew a deep breath, steadying her shaking hands before knocking, a small bouquet of white tulips clutched nervously in her hand.
Khushi answered after a moment, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of Lavanya standing on the doorstep. The tension in the air was palpable, but Lavanya offered a tentative smile. "Hi," she began, her voice softer, "I hope I'm not intruding."
Khushi hesitated, then stepped back to allow her inside. "What brings you here?"
"I came to talk," Lavanya said, holding out the tulips with a nervous smile. "I brought these for you. I know it's not much, but I wanted to bring something."
Khushi accepted the flowers with a hesitant hand, unsure of Lavanya's intent. "Thank you."
They settled in the cozy living room, the warm glow of the fireplace contrasting sharply with the chill Lavanya felt. Lavanya kept wriggling her fingers.
"Would you like some tea?" Khushi asked politely. She had no intention to be in her presence longer than absolutely necessary.
"Sure."
As they sipped their tea wordlessly, an awkward silence fell over them.
"I don't know where to begin," Lavanya started, her voice trembling. "I've come to apologize to you....for how I behaved, for the things I said...... I know I've hurt you immensely with my actions." She paused, licking her dry lips, "...and I am truly sorry for that."
Khushi looked at her, dumbfounded, not expecting the apology at all. "I don't know, Mrs. Kashyap," she said slowly. "What do you expect me to say?"
"You don't have to say anything. I'm being selfish here once again actually. I just need to say 'sorry' to you before you go back to India," Lavanya added. "I know you don't need my apology, but I am truly sorry."
"I'll take my leave now," Lavanya said, standing up. "If possible, please forgive me."
Khushi looked at her retreating form with a wistful expression on her face. it felt like drawing an end to a specific chapter of her life.

Hey Jalebi
How are you?
Hope all's well🤗
Your blog is one of my favorite places on the internet and I keep reading a lot of your old posts, especially your fanfics! They're all so beautifully written and I can't wait for you to complete them (ofcourse no pressure)🫶
My ask is, if you had a theory as to why NK called Arnav Nannav and how their relationship during childhood was, what would it be ? I love your perspective on the shows and thank you for all the wonderful posts❤️
Hi!
I'm doing well!
There's actually an in-canon explanation as to why NK calls Arnav as Nannav. In episode 283, when NK notices that Khushi is extremely tensed, NK shares that Arnav couldn't pronounce his own name during childhood.
Arnav would call himself as 'Nannav' - and of course Arnav grows over it and everyone else does as well, except NK. The perfect Arnav Singh Raizada couldn't even pronounce his own name! It's the last thing NK could ever forget.
I do feel NK has the softest spot for Arnav, but I also see very well that he does not really put Arnav on a pedestal unlike Arnav's family. Why should he? Arnav is his cousin's cousin!
So I think NK is the only one who sees Arnav for who he is - an arrogant, bratty guy who grew up too quick and needs a push in the right direction when needed.
(NK views Arnav far more as an equal than Akash ever does. Cause of course, Arnav is not the head of his household and holds no influence in his life. He's unfazed by Arnav's outbursts simply because NK knows it's Arnav's fault if he is angry, and he pretty much knows Arnav well enough to exactly know which buttons to push, and which not).
NK feels like the cousin who would irritate Arnav enough out of his room just so Arnav actually leaves his house and goes on a bike ride outside (which Arnav enjoys but wouldn't tell Arnav about).
But NK would never, ever talk with Arnav about the things that truly hurt Arnav. Never about his parents. Never about his broken engagement.
But flirting with the girl his cousin seems to like?
Why not? Especially when the said cousin can't seem to get a word out of his mouth? Lol.
During childhood, Arnav would hate NK would never shut up, but also never fall prey to his pranks (unlike Akash). NK would terrify Arnav with his genuine over happy state of existence while also being smart. It's kinda like NK doesn't want to think much, hence the himbo energy.
Lol.
Best,
Jalebi
#ask#anon#about NK#about arnav#mad cousins#lol but they're cute#NK would be getting all the love tbh

I definitely recommend all the ones above, as I loved them all, especially Nnedi Okorafor and NK Jemisen.
Here's a few marginalized authors I read that I didn't see recommended yet. I'm including some anthologies in this list. This is in no particular order.
Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki (One of my most favorite books of all time! It tells the tale of a transgirl violinist, her teacher who struggles to beat the devil at his own game, and a alien mother who wants to save her family).
Wings of Ebony by J. Elle (about a Black girl from Houston who finds out she's half god, and has to fight to save her people - both mortal and gods)
New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color Edited by Nisi Shawl (this is short fiction anthology. I loved all the stories in it and found some new authors to explore too.)
Anything by Yoon Ha Lee. (I loved Phoenix Extravagant which is a YA book and the Machineries of Empire series)
David Mogo, Godhunter by Suyi Davies Okungbowa (Dives deep into Nigerian lore. It's a cyberpunk, godpunk tale that's a fun romp.)
Love Beyond Body, Space & Time edited by Hope Nicholson (This is another anology, this time focusing on Indigenous authors from across the Americas.)
Anything by Nalo Hopkinson
Children of Blood and Bone Legacy of Orïsha #1 by Tomi Adeyemi (A dark YA novel that tells the story of how the Orïsha revolt against their tyrants)
Escaping Exodus by Nicky Drayden (A tale of humans living within a live space beasts, far from Earth and any habitable exoplanet. Also, Nicky Drayden's Prey of the Gods is a fascinating queer cyberpunk novel.)
Anything by Rebecca Roanhorse (I particularly love her Sixth World series)
The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum (A sweet queer tale of two girls who, by listening to signals from the stars, fall in love)
Transcendent 3: The Year's Best Transgender Speculative Fiction edited by Bogi Takács (This is an anthology featuring trans writers from across the world. Fantastic read.)
A Phoenix First Must Burn edited by Patrice Caldwell (An YA anthology that explores the Black experience through fantasy, SF, and magic)
Moonshot: The Indigenous Comics Collection edited by Hope Nicholson (This is a comic anthology series with three in total. Absolutely brilliantly illustrated by various Indigenous authors from across the world.)
Broken Stars: Contemporary Chinese Science Fiction in Translation #2 edited and translated by Ken Liu (An anthology of Chinese authors full of haunting stories.)
Train to Pakistan by Khushwant Singh (exactly what the title says, it tales the story of the Partition. Scenes from it still haunt me today.)
Anything by Toni Morrison (Sula in particular hit me hard)
Life on Mars by Tracy K. Smith (Okay, this is a poetry collection, but it's a damn good poetry collection.)
Am I Blue?: Coming Out from the Silence edited by Marion Dane Bauer (This is an anthology by LGBTQIA writers. this anthology helped me come to terms with my own queer trans identity)
Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America edited by Ibi Zoboi (Another great YA anthology)
A Blade So Black The Nightmare-Verse #1 by L.L. McKinney (A retelling of Alice in Wonderland in a much darker way. Explores the Black experience through the creepy world of Wonderland).
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (Story of a Black girl caught between two worlds who witnesses the police shooting of her unarmed best friend)
The Assimilated Cuban's Guide to Quantum Santeria by Carlos Hernandez (A collection of short stories by Hernandez that I still think about today)
Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements edited by Walidah Imarisha, adrienne maree brown (Holy shit is this anthology fantastic. A wide variety of authors from across the globe who walk in the legacy of Octavia Butler)
Brick Walls: Tales of Hope & Courage from Pakistan by Saadia Faruqi (Faruqi's collection of short fiction about her country often had me in tears)
The Liminal People by Ayize Jama-Everett (The tale of a father and his daughter struggling to survive and hide their tremendous power to hurt or heal at a touch)
A Small Charred Face by Kazuki Sakuraba with Jocelyne Allen (Translator) (A story of a boy and a vampire who save each other's lives)
The Closet of Discarded Dreams by R. Ch. Garcia (A surreal novel where a Chicano teen struggles to stay sane in a dimension where people relieve humanity's abandoned dreams. Incredibly haunting prose.)
Anything by Ted Chiang (his novella Story of My Life was turned into the movie Arrival)
Okay, I'll end there otherwise I'll be listing books all night. :) Enjoy!!
PLEASE for the love of the universe read anti-colonial science fiction and fantasy written from marginalized perspectives. Y’all (you know who you are) are killing me. To see people praise books about empire written exclusively by white women and then turn around and say you don’t know who Octavia Butler is or that you haven’t read any NK Jemisin or that Babel was too heavy-handed just kills me! I’m not saying you HAVE to enjoy specific books but there is such an obvious pattern here
Some of y’all love marginalized stories but you don’t give a fuck about marginalized creators and characters, and it shows. Like damn

2023 Short Stories
OK, I'm pretending I use this for anything other than clicking like on wry tumblr comments or reposting artists. But I'm still reading short stories, and tracking my favorites, and these are the ones that struck me the most in 2023, in order of reading from January onward:
Rabbit Test by Samantha Mills (Uncanny)
Samantha Mills is writing a dystopian future that is a little too close to home; I could barely stand to read it because it was so sharp.
The Big Glass Box and the Boys Inside by Isabel J. Kim (Apex)
Essentially everything by Isabel Kim is my favorite, but this one concerns the uncanny transformations of legal work.
The Museum of Erased Things by Maria Hossein (Translunar)
Haunting story about a museum of banned objects where any citizen who enters never emerges again, and despite the dictator's attempts to destroy it, it always reappears.
Unusual Times by Gail Ann Gibbs (Translunar)
A school building has to defend some of its students.
Professor Strong and the Brass Boys by Amal Singh (Apex)
Robots start a protest band.
A Girl is Blood, Spirit, and Fire by Somto Ihezue (PodCastle)
A novice rebels against the hierarchical system of her order.
Discreet Services Offered for Women Ridden by Hags by Stephanie Malia (Beneath Ceaseless Skies)
A doctor takes on her sister's soucouyant.
How to Stay Married to Baba Yaga by SM Hallow (Baffling Mag.)
Exactly what it sounds like, but it's also very poetic.
If You Find Yourself Speaking to God, Address God with the Formal You by John Chu (Uncanny Magazine)
I like ACAB superhero stories sometimes.
The God of Minor Troubles by Megan Chee (Strange Horizons)
A small god makes a big difference.
One For Sorrow, Two for Mirth by Tina Zhu (Strange Horizons)
Two pairs of estranged siblings cross paths over shadow magic and a murder.
The Relationship of Ink to Blood by Alex Langer (Apex)
A fascist clerk faces consequences for his role in disappearing people.
Measure Twice, Cut Once by KR March (Apex)
Capitalism, but the inhumanity is filtered through the magic of sewing a dress.
The Fox Roads by Nghi Vo (Tor.com)
Prohibition-era bank robbery, magic, and more than I can really summarize in one sentence.
Also, two short story collections and an anthology absolutely delighted me:
No One Will Come Back For Us by Premee Mohammad
I really love Mohammad's take on cosmic and eldritch horror.
White Cat, Black Dog by Kelly Link
Spot illustrations by Shaun Tan. The titular story nearly killed me because I was laughing while eating. What more do I need to say? But seriously, read it for White Cat, Black Dog alone.
Out There Screaming edited by Jordan Peele and John Joseph Adams
I knew I was going to pick this up for a lot of reasons: I can't remember if the first was the fact that a sheet of tin foil has been rendered terrifying, or because Jordan Peele is attached, or because it contains stories by NK Jemisin, Nnedi Okorafur, and Tananarive Due (and more), but anyway, pick it up I did and sleep restfully I did not.
All in all, I have read a grand total of 221 short stories and (not counted in that number) five collections and anthologies. I subscribed to Apex, Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, and Apparition Lit.
Next year I'll be subscribing to Uncanny Magazine, renewing my Apex subscription, and picking up FIYAH, which I meant to do this year but honestly my bandwidth starts to taper off after two subscriptions. I read everything except the books I have, as one does.

It is the continuation of previous post. I am doing a countdown on the basis of the characters saying 'kal e hain, woh hain etc etc ' basis and their on-screen sleeping and waking up pattern. It's the last 6 days.
6 days to go of the completion of 6th month of their contact marriage aka 7th day from when Arnav started his quest to khushi's heart (aka 8th August)
The only partially-good thing he did that day was 'I love you, damn it.'
why it is the next day: (Arnav said last day that 'tomorrow is our suhagraat' and khushi said to di that 'in tomorrow's puja the shank will be with you' and everyone kept saying 'kal ki puja')
5 days to go to the completion of their marriage contact aka 8th day from when arnav started the countdown (aka 9th August)
why it is next day: (khushi woke up in the same attire of last night)
Arnav decided to marry khushi with full religious rituals and he got to hear 'I love you too, damn it' from khushi.
He did the deed, that he should had done days ago but couldn't , seek khushi's forgiveness.
4 days to go to the end of their contact marriage aka 9th day of the countdown (aka 10th August)
why it is next day:everyone kept saying sagun is next day.
I guess the point of this countdown is not valid anymore as we are at their Sagun ceremony. They were going to remarry soon.
Khushi admitted that she was his all along and Arnav got to know how much khushi respect his belief. So he made a concious effort to know about all the rituals of marriage for her, so that he could perform them properly for her.
3 days left of their contact marriage aka 10th day of the count down (aka 11th August)
why it is next day: ( 'coz Nk said in sagun that kal hum doka main milenge 😁)
Arnav and khushi got engaged and the fact that arnav put efforts to learn about rituals made khushi very happy.
Arnav showered khushi with kisses at the same spot where once upon a time a kiss was supposed to happen.
khushi beautifully address herself as 'singh raizada'.
he appointed a trained nurse for her father so that her mother could attend all the functions.
He chatted with her over phone before falling asleep.
2 days to to the completion of contact marriage of arnav and khushi aka 11 th day of the countdown (aka 12 August).
why it is next day: ( buaji was telling garima about the roka ceremony and then said in next day's kuldevi's puja you would be with me.I hope buaji was telling garima about the engagement ceremony that very day,not like 10 days later.)
Arnav entered the temple to accompany her to seek permission of her bestfriend for their marriage.
he said her that he loved the way she is and she didn't need to change at their date.
he also cheered her up when she messed up.
1 day to go aka 12th day of the countdown of Arnav and khushi's 6 month old contact marriage (aka 13 August)
why it is next day:( At their date the last day anjali asked shyam how would he come to the next day's function.)
Arnav sweetly recalled their mehendi moment.
He also tied her opened dori and had mehendi on his hand only for her.
He opened up to her fully about his past and shared his sorrows with her, letting her console him.
It's a little moment but its my fav, when he was flashbacking about anjali, then about shyam-khushi, he got frustrated and broke a vase, but later he was very calm and patient with khushi.
(to be continued)
My scattered thoughts (5b/?)

Hey jalebi, what would arnav do if khushi haven't given into his threats and not married him and believed in her gut that akash wouldn't leave payal? What ways would arnav come up with to tie her to himself? This changes the entire plot line but I wanna know your thoughts on this 😅
Hi Anon,
You’re right, this would change the whole plot and Arnav was very convincing. The writing is so water tight that there’s no way that Khushi wouldn’t have agreed to him. There’s no believing her gut because Akash will leave Payal, even if heartbroken by it, if Arnav says so because Akash always believes his brother 💯.
BUT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME A FANFIC IDEA SO HERE IT IS!
What if Khushi refused the ultimatum?
From a tragic point of view, Khushi is more likely to believe that Arnav wouldn’t do this to her, she knows what love they share, she wouldn’t be able to believe he’d cross all these lines. She would perhaps think more from her heart. She loves this man. Intensely.
But Arnav would pull it off. Because the hurt he has is immense. Because this is his only leverage to Khushi. And despite his good judgement he’d cancel the wedding.
And despite much chaos and uproar and Akash choosing to side with his brother (I think Arnav would privately tell him the truth which Akash, despite his own judgement, would agree with Arnav because his brother is never wrong), the wedding would be off leading to Nani’s ill health and Buaji and Garima collapsing.
I believe Payal would unfortunately try to kill herself, unable to take the trauma and that would shock Arnav and the rest of the Raizadas to now demand answers.
Khushi would go ballistic on Arnav and essentially become another Arnav Singh Raizada with having her sister in coma and family destroyed over his decision.
And imagine, just imagine the shock to know it was all over a misunderstanding! She would vow to never forgive him and burn all his gifts and everything that reminds her of him. Anjali would be completely destroyed but seeing Payal would remind her of herself and she’d chose to separate with Shyam (especially with all the suspicions she was having over time).
Arnav would rot in guilt. He gave her the same trauma he had. NK would agree that nope, his cousin wasn’t in love with Khushi, because love cannot be this.
Akash would just become a stone.
The Guptas would all head to Lucknow with a comatose Payal. Akash would come over to face severe rejection but he would be there to marry Payal, to be with her. The doctors say she might not wake up ever but Akash would happily spend his life looking at Payal sleeping.
That’s what the vows were about anyway?
Khushi seriously takes up the business and gives her all. Payal gets conscious and Akash patiently helps her heal. Khushi’s business starts booming and one day the Raizadas come over to ask for Payal’s hand. They promise to treat her like a queen.
Khushi is enraged and would outrightly refuse it! Arnav comes in front, asking for his brother and her sister’s happiness but Khushi wouldnt agree. Rather yell at him for his hypocrisy.
Arnav starts negotiating with Khushi for the marriage to happen. Anything. Khushi refuses all of them. Arnav asks her about Payal’s medical treatment, Khushi retorts that he would only help once she’s a bahu?
Arnav rages at that accusation and Khushi scoffs at his attempt at empathy. Arnav calms down and tells her her anger is valid, and so is her hatred. But it’s ultimately about Payal’s life.
Khushi storms away and realizes her family has been taking the healthcare expenses from the Raizadas. She feels insulted and angry and refuses to speak to any of her family despite knowing it has actually benefited Payal.
Payal, on the other hand, is getting slow with her recovery and gets upset on akash for sticking up with her when she doesn’t want to stay in this state but he lets her be, letting all her anger out until she cries and holds onto him, the guilt of burdening Khushi with everything on her head.
Khushi soothes Payal when Payal wishes she should’ve died instead of becoming a burden Khushi but Khushi shuts her up by stating that if she died then there’s nothing Khushi has to live for.
Khushi reluctantly agrees for the wedding but gets upset when her family hopes for hers - she lashes out at them to the point where she crosses all the lines and then feels guilty for having done so. Arnav finds her at the edge of the road and fears the worst, pulls her away from a speeding car and yells at her out of concern. However it’s clear that she wasn’t paying attention and not attempting self harm.
Khushi, hesitantly, shares what transpired at her home and Arnav hesitantly consoles her by stating that there’s no fun in being an Arnav Singh Raizada.
Her anger, her hatred, everything should be directed to him. They have a fighting match where essentially Arnav’s pain of Khushi hiding the truth and Khushi’s pain of Arnav not even asking her clarification hits. Ultimately Khushi yells that she cannot hate him, she cannot be angry at him because- and she cuts off, and runs away back home where Akash has consoled the family and patches up Khushi with her family.
The wedding begins and Anjali is uncharacteristically quiet, apologetic and slightly frightened. She promises her brother and Khushi only happiness in the world. Meanwhile Khushi makes it clear that she’s doing this for Payal’s happiness and she may never find it in her to forgive him and Arnav agrees that there’s something similar in them - he may never find it in him to forgive himself either.
With the wedding sparks fly between Arshi with them exchanging banters and wits. They come closer and Khushi finds herself falling again when it is revealed Shyam has been blackmailing Anjali for money in exchange for peace in her family.
Arnav and Khushi team up to get rid of Shyam and both regret the fact that neither of them punished the one man who was responsible for everything.
Much to the families’ happiness Akash finally weds Payal much to everyone’s happiness.
The family concoct ways to bring arshi clpser. It’s hilarious because all the plans backfire. Finally accidentally Khushi thinks Arnavs life is endangered and she runs over to him about thinking of life’s cruelty at her to keep seeing the ones she love in danger.
Khushi tells Arnav she loves him and accuses him of being careless and not loving her back and Arnav gets angry because he loves her and she doesn’t love him back and they yell back and forth until they realize they confessed and well - that leads to another wedding and a happily ever after!
Best,
- Jalebi

J&K Attack: Drones, Sniffer Dogs Used In Hunt For Terrorists, 12 Detained
The entire area of Tota-Gali-Bata Doriya, which has dense forests, has been cordoned off.
Poonch: At least 12 people were detained on Friday for questioning in connection with the deadly ambush of five army soldiers in the dense forest area of Bata Doriya here even as a MI helicopter, drones, and sniffer dogs were pressed into service in a massive manhunt for the perpetrators of last afternoon's attack.
Officials said that those detained were being questioned at various levels by the security forces to ascertain the identity of the terror group, which is believed to be active in the area for more than a year and probably comprises a snipper too.
A day after the attack, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police Dilbag Singh along with Additional Director General police Mukesh Singh was camping in neighbouring Rajouri district to oversee the investigation. The two officers also visited the site.
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team headed by a Deputy Inspector General rank officer was also present as the agency is likely to take over the case.
Initial reports suggest the presence of around five terrorists and the army truck is believed to have been attacked from three different sides. After the ambush, the terrorists possibly used grenades as well as sticky bombs that set the vehicle ablaze.
Vehicular traffic was suspended on the national highway between Bhimber Gali and Jarran Wali Gali for the second consecutive day.
The officials said those who executed the attack are believed to have been present in Rajouri and Poonch for more than one year and had adequate knowledge of the terrain which is quite tough, they said.
The area is a hotbed of Jammu and Kashmir Gaznavi Force (JKGF) as its 'commander' Rafiq Ahmed alias Rafiq Nayi, who is a resident of the area, they added.
At present, three to four terrorist groups are active in the region of Rajouri and Poonch, the sources said.
Banned terror group People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), a proxy wing of terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, has claimed responsibility for the attack. There are reports suggesting that it was a handiwork of banned Lashker-e-Taiba group also.
The entire area of Tota-Gali-Bata Doriya, which has dense forests, has been cordoned off.
Officials said drones and sniffer dogs are being used to trace the terrorists, adding the army also conducted a recee of the area with a MI-chopper.
The five Army personnel were killed and another was seriously injured on Thursday after their vehicle caught fire following the attack. The soldiers were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations.
Top army and police officials on Friday laid wreaths and paid homage to the soldiers -- Havildar Mandeep Singh of Chankoian village of Ludhiana (Punjab), Lance Naik Kulwant Singh of Charik village of Moga district (Punjab), Sepoy Harkrishan Singh of village Talwandi of Gurdaspur district (Punjab) and Sepoy Sewak Singh of Bagha village of Bathinda district (Punjab).
The bodies were sent to their native places, they said.
Officials said a high alert has been sounded in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch amid heightened vigil along the Line of Control.
Meanwhile, Jammu witnessed several protests by BJP, VHP, Rastriya Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, Dogra Front and Jammu Statehood organisation among others.
In a tweet, the Army said, "Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and all ranks of Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of five Indian Army bravehearts, Hav Mandeep Singh, L/Nk Debashish Baswal, L/Nk Kulwant Singh, Sep Harkrishan Singh and Sep Sewak Singh who laid down their lives in the line of duty at Poonch Sector yesterday." Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said he was anguished at the loss of lives of the brave soldiers.
"Their rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families," he said in a tweet.
