Summery: "What happened to you?” Astrid asked, her voice was cold.

Hiccup's brows knit in confusion.

She was literally there for what happened. There for it and for everything after. Until he left.

When he just blinked a few times instead of responding, she went on.

“You used to be smart! You used to be funny! You used to be worth talking to!” As her voice raised with each word, there was a hollow ache in his chest. It felt like something heavy was pushing down on it, forcing all the air out of his lungs.

The worst part, he thought, was the fact she was right.

He did used to be smart. His intelligence was his best trait, and it seemingly vanished when for the first time in his life, it really mattered.

He was meant to be some kind of genius, right? That was the whole point of–

He was useless, wasn't he?

Astrid let out a heavy sigh, one hand raising from the steering wheel to pinch the bridge of her nose. “Why did you even come back?”

y’all seemed to like the last post i made ranting about things i will never be normal about so here’s another

NIGHT IN THE WOODS

carefully stepping past the fact that i named myself after the main character of that game i will never lose the love i have for this game, Mae Borowski has some shit that would give my therapist some questions for me if he knew how relatable i find them

greg is like a legitimately good representation of the mental illnesses he struggles with where they are parts of him but he is still his own person

i ship MaeBea with all of my heart like cynical responsible one who beats around no bush but actually gives a lot more fucks than you’d think and the impulsive chaos gremlin who will do anything to make their partner smile even though they are truly a haunted person is such a good relationship dynamic and the bench scene makes me want to sob and how is there so little good fanfic content of these two

all of the characters feel like real people who live lives and have stories and move when you aren’t moving and like aaaaa

also the queer representation is *chefs kiss*

the rest might get spoiler-y, you’ve been warned, at least watch a playthrough of it if you don’t want to buy it

also like the way people handle casey’s disappearance and the cult it has so much emotional power, these people just figured out their friend was killed because some old creeps decided he “wasn’t important enough” and not only is there the whole grief stage of having that confirmed but the reality that they are all a lot like casey, all they have are their families and that friend group, it could have been anyone else here was a thought that was barely if at all touched on in the actual dialogue but you can tell that it’s there

also the ambiguity of if the cult was right or not is SO FUCKING GOOD

i literally wrote my boyfriend an entire article about how i love the small town with a deep secret trope when it came up in an actual play podcast like i can’t be normal about this if i tried

also i need mae borowski to get into like the eldritch horror aesthetic it would suit her so well and with the whole “i literally survived a cult worshipping an old god” thing going on would be fucking great

It’s finally done. I’ve done it, I’ve finished up the Chaos Theory X Night in the Woods AU designs that I’ve been working on.

Below are their individual designs and which characters they’re based on within the AU, but it was so fun to do these designs! Especially since I had to study the nitw style and I love that game stylistically. (Also I will be working on a Brooklynn design but I’m tired from working on this all afternoon)

-Darius as Mae Borowski. Darius returns to his hometown after a less than stellar time away working for the DPW (Department of Park Wildlife). He’s back to reconnect with his old friends, as well as figure out what’s going on in his mind. Right now his goal is just to focus on the present.

-Ben as Bea Santello. Ben is one of the numerous people stuck in Isla Springs after the unfortunate passing of his mother forcing him to take over the family shop. He’s not so thrilled with Darius’s return considering how they left things the last time they spoke. Darius, however is determined to not let this connection die once again

-Kenji as Germ Warfare. Boyfriend of Brooklynn, he mainly hangs around the outskirts of town following her sudden disappearance. He eventually establishes a close brotherly bond with Darius, being a guiding figure in his life (but what’s a close bond without shenanigans thrown in).

-Sammy as Gregg Lee. Sammy works hard everyday to eventually get enough money to move herself and her girlfriend out of Isla Springs. However, once her high school buddy Darius moves back into town she slips back into old habits, which causes some tension between her and Yaz.

-Yaz as Angus Delaney. Yaz is Sammy’s anchor and is also working hard to have a better life for the both of them. While she does care deeply for Sammy often times she feels that being the responsible one is a burden and is afraid of communicating that to Sammy.

Ughhh I have so many ideas for this AU that I might as well start writing fanfiction, but I hope you enjoy these drawings that I did as much as I enjoyed designing them!

General opinion/How much I care about them: god, what a good character. probably my favorite side character of a game with loads of incredibly lovable side characters. the poetry slam at the library still hits like a freight train. i haven't played NITW since the weird autumn stuff dropped so if there's any new stuff with her in there i haven't seen it. i feel like i'm due a replay sometime soon though.

A ship I love: girl mae is right there and in one of the worst possible periods in her life to start a meaningful romantic relationship. why not have another slow-motion disaster. hm. girl bea is right there and word-of-god straight, so let's kill and eat god over that one

A non-romantic relationship that I love: honestly the reason the poetry slam hits so hard is because of the quiet friendship you can build with her over the course of a playthrough. why wouldn't you talk to her every time you see her? what kind of FREAK wouldn't talk to selmers

The NOTP: i feel like whatever answer goes here is just pedantically obvious.

My biggest headcanon about them: less bien. bet she's got some poems on the backburner about burning her way out of comphet

An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: (if I have none in my WIPs I’ll make one up on the spot!) chelmers gets an all-expenses paid dyke cruise vacation... but there's a murder!! might that dashingly-rumpled gentlewoman detective on board need someone with a poet's soul to take notes and be the watson to her holmes...? she's already kicked an opioid habit so she's got that one over on watson

First fandom I fell in love with: definitely nitw. I was into a lot of things but never really got into the fandom.

That is also the one I am in the longest. People are still making art and fan games and fanfiction I love it.

Currently I am in: MCU, nitw, Zombies run!, multiple audio dramas, starwars. I'm pretty sure that's it :)

The one that was most cringe I'd say is the furry fandom but I still love it they are super nice and creative.

The coolest I'd say is Zombies run! people's blogs are super cool. I'm very new but it's dope. I love this fandom
