Summery: "What happened to you?” Astrid asked, her voice was cold.

Hiccup's brows knit in confusion.

She was literally there for what happened. There for it and for everything after. Until he left.

When he just blinked a few times instead of responding, she went on.

“You used to be smart! You used to be funny! You used to be worth talking to!” As her voice raised with each word, there was a hollow ache in his chest. It felt like something heavy was pushing down on it, forcing all the air out of his lungs.

The worst part, he thought, was the fact she was right.

He did used to be smart. His intelligence was his best trait, and it seemingly vanished when for the first time in his life, it really mattered.

He was meant to be some kind of genius, right? That was the whole point of–

He was useless, wasn't he?
