Several BL Fans fell under the spell of DoMunDi Couple NETJAMES. They appeared in Cutie Pie (in guest roles) they were the BL Couple in a Straight Series Catch Me Baby and went on to The Middleman's Love and Bed Friend

Many were awaiting their next series period piece LOVE UPON A TIME (in which the 2 shot a pilot trailer) but it was not meant to be when James announced he was dropping out of the series ahead of its production to become an artist.

LOVE UPON A TIME was shelved until a suitable replacement could be found.

ENTER JJ as James' Replacement. But do they even have chemistry...as BL Fans several hate when new ships are formed other BL Fans thrive on something new and fresh well recently NETJJ did a performance on DMD Reality Series. Check this out

This was a singing and rap duet where the pair showed their chemistry and they had an audience with blushing, smiling and mouths agape.

And in other news of this new ship, they are slated to appear in THE NEXT PRINCE (ZEENUNEW LEAD BL) apparently to replace THOMAS and KONG as their series YOUR SKY (which is coming soon) overlap and they could not appear in both.

UMK24 thoughts

UMK24 was boradcasted on TV last night. I had listened the songs through weekly and formed my opinions on them. But how they would work live?

I saw some pictures on news outlets, but didn't know much. My friend who was there didn't say anything, other than sending a little clip of Käärijä's and Erika Vikman's performance after the contestants (more on them later).

So how was the show overall?

Kuumaa & Benjamin - Ylivoimainen & Hoida mut

Gay ship of the year?

I thought this was nice. "Ylivoimainen" works well as a ballad. Benjamin's and Kuumaa's singer's voices work well together. Throwback to last year, which was when UMK really got attention in Finnish press and abroad. Like a send off from last year's artists.

On other note, Benjamin, Pilvi and Viivi were good hosts. Nice to have three people doing the work. Better than Samu Haber last year for sure.

Sini Sabotage - Kuori mua

I warmed up to Sini's song after not so flattering first impressions. She has the charisma.

She sings well live, kind of prefer it over the recorded versions. But the peformance didn't quite work here. It has the peeling off clothing for sure. But I don't know.

Good start at least.

Cyan Kicks - Dancing with Demons

I wasn't a huge fan of this song's recorded version. Toothless? Weird thing happened. I thought live version of "Hurricane" was weak, but "Dancing with Demons" works better live. Susanna Alexandra sounds better live at least now.

If the song sounded like this on recording , I would like it more. Performance wasn't that special. I feel that bands are in disadvantage, when they can't have dancers and such on stage.

Jesse Markin - Glow

After some time, "Glow" became my top song out of this year's contenders. Studio version is solid as hell. I was bit worried how this would work live.

It worked well! Live it sounds different. He has more energy at the end when he repeats "You're gonna make it!", which is nice. Good studio and live version.

I voted Jesse.

Mikael Gabriel x nublu - Vox Populi

I didn't care about this song and it had some discourse going on before this.

Live version works better than studio. Mikael Gabriel had more energy in his voice and could actually make what nublu was rapping.

I don't want to hear this song ever again...

Sara Siipola - Paskana

When I heard this song for the first time, I thought instantly "This will win!" It's a good song, with a powerful message.

Vocal effects on studio version made me worried how Sara would fare live. No worries. She sings well love. "PASKANA!" shout could have more power. Performance was nice looking on the television, I wonder how it looked from the live audience.

Maybe the best vocal performance of the evening?

Sexmane - Mania

Sexmane had a solid song. The amount of vocal effects on the studio version made me worried how he would do certain parts live.

I was bit disappointed. The amount of background vocals bother me. Why he couldn't shout Mania with the background vocals? I was waiting the screech at the end. He did his own screech and background tape did it right after. He sounds better here than on studio version though.

Also why he was connected to those wries and didn't do much with them.

Underwhelming.

I love this song.

I was bit worried how Henri Piispanen would pull off those vocals live, but he did well. At points he sounded like he was running out of breath.

Performance was the craziest this year. Sure was stimulating. Quite an advantage for one person to do the entertaining, while other does most of the vocals.

Bonus performances

After the contestants performed, it was time for other artists to take the stage.

"Disqualified performance". "Eight contestant."

It was obviously playback. Singer was Päivi Hämäläinen, one of the hosts of the evening. She is an actress.

Song is a spoof of common elements in Eurovision. Despite it being a parody, it was absolute banger! I hope it arrives to streaming services, this will be the Pride hit of 2024! XD

Then it was Katri Helena's turn. She performed her classic song "Katso sineen taivaan", which she represented Finland with on 1979 Eurovision in Jerusalem.

Classic for sure, with epic sound.

Then it was time for Käärijä's and Erika Vikman's song, "Ruoska". Käärijä was last year's UMK winner and Vikman was a contestant who didn't win, but got huge boost to her career, inventing her image.

I was honestly disappointed that Käärijä didn't get hit by the whip on the stage. Song is itself is okay.

And of course we get "Cha Cha Cha", the smash of hit 2023. It's still a banger.

International jury points

Jury points were kind of what I expected. Sara Siipola on top. I was surprised that Mikael Gabriel and nublu were third, but I don't like that song... I would've thought Jesse Markin would've scored higher. Nothing super controversial here, I guess jury people don't like eurodance XD

End results after public voting

Windows95man got his points first and sprung to the top spot. At that point it was game over, unless Sara Siipola got more points. It was actually quite nerve wrecking, when Sara Siipola got her points last.

I was sad that Sini Sabotage was last. She was solid and certainly better than Sexmane on vocal performance. But maybe the stage performance didn't impress people. Or the fact she was first.

Sexmane lost to Jesse Markin by a small margin. Apparently Sexmane is popular with devout fanbase. But I guess stage presence of Windows95man was too powerful.

Overall thoughts

I think this year was more even and better than last year. I liked 5/7 songs, compared to 2-3/7 songs last year. Also the move to Nokia Arena in Tampere from Logomo in Turku did wonders to stage peformances. Everything looked bigger. More lights, background videos.

I think Sini Sabotage was robbed, but oh well. I knew Jesse Markin couldn't win after he said he wouldn't go to Malmö if he won. But at least I get to know him. I'm sure to follow him from now on and buy his albums.

If I had to criticize the contestant selection, many of them were established artists before this. Sini Sabotage and Mikael Gabreil came back from hiatus. Sexmane is popular. Jesse Markin is an indie darling. Cyan Kicks competed two years ago, why so soon again? But for Siipola and Markin this is sure to give boost to their careers. I hope so at least.

How Windows95man will fare in Eurovision? We will see. Does he have to change the artist name? Are Eurovision people in the mood for such a song now?

Idol AU?! Who all is involved?

okay so me and @max-iwtaco have been brainrotting about it yesterday but we're trying to include as many characters as we can think of XD

THIS ASK HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY DRAFTS FOR MONTHS NOW I THINK. ANYWAY

i wanted amy to be the main character bc like. look at her...

but okay so let me summarize what we talked about

-sonic and shadow both debuted when they were very young under competing labels. sonic does a lot of solo singing and rapping stuff, plays guitar, and dances (he specialized in breakdancing which is poggers), meanwhile shadow sings (he can do screamo if he wants. as a treat) and dances (he specializes more in interpretive type dance). theyve always been rivals, releasing albums around the same time and fighting for all the awards and stuff. and dont get me started on idol sports champio ships-

-so amy's dream has been to be an idol, and she took a lot of inspiration from sonic!! so she uses her tarot cards like in canon and it tells her to audition for the same label as sonic is under (tho im debating what to call it) and she does and makes it in!!!

-eggman runs a company. the one that team dark is under. team dark is a band with shadow on vocals and bass, rouge on vocals and electric guitar, and omega on drums. lets just say they have to buy new drums every performance.

-sonic also has a band with knuckles and tails, where he plays guitar, tails is on synthesizer, and knuckles is on drums.

-amy becomes a soloist but cream comes to all of her shows. she has special permission backstage to see her and be her emotional support. also they sometimes let cream on stage to sing a little song and the audience loves it. cream also has a kazoo

-knuckles's dad used to be the head of their company but knuckles inherited it. or something

-tails is a HUGE music theory nerd. he loves math rock

-amy dabbles in music composition (bc im projecting)

-tails and sonic knew each other since they were little and sonic would play guitar for him and tails started learning bc of him and then he got REALLY into music theory and became a big nerd. sonic cant actually read sheet music lmao

-sonic joined the company under the condition that tails joins with him and tails was so cute that they couldnt say no

-since knuckles takes care of the whole company now he doesn't actually perform concerts that often but when he does the audience goes WILD. you never know when youre gonna see knuckles. it's a gamble every time. on the times knuckles cant come play drums big will come to play instead

-big doesnt ever actually show upto practice bc hes too busy fishing. he just shows up and plays the concert and then he's gone again. froggy plays the cymbal

-froggy gets put on the concert posters and big doesnt bc big just shows up. froggy is the star of the show

-sonic raps while knuckles beatboxes. tails tries to rap and its adorable

-cream is the first to listen to amy's demos and comes to support her at the recording studio

-blaze does classical music and plays the violin. silver does techno style stuff. they collab a lot and sound amazing together

watched the new little mermaid movie through *ahem* somewhat dubious means

halle bailey killed it, she was perfect as ariel, 10/10 no notes. might be worth watching the movie for her performance alone ngl.

eric was...decent I guess. they made a few changes to his character and it's...I mean it's fine. it really doesn't make him a much stronger character than the original. they did give him a new solo song though and it's genuinely terrible. but they also added some nice scenes between ariel and eric that were admittedly cute, so...yeah. he's fine.

daveed diggs as sebastian felt extremely phoned in. never mind the uncanny valley cgi crab nonsense, the performance by diggs just. wasn't good. his lines are largely unchanged from the original movie, and I mean like, it is word for word in some places, but diggs is just worse all around. all the charisma and charm of sebastian was just sucked right out of it. and this is a shame because I know diggs is talented, he's way more talented than this, so I have to assume the problem was either the directing or the fact that he knew he was reading for a cgi crab. unclear. can't blame him either way tbh.

why was flounder even in this movie? he adds nothing except uncanny valley fish cgi. I mean it somehow they took what felt like an essential character from the first film and made him feel irrelevant I hate it.

speaking of hate who the fuck let awkwafina rap??? I've never much cared for her comedy, but she was especially unfunny as scuttle and frankly annoying most of the time. and then they added this awful rap number because god forbid lin manuel miranda not insert himself into every movie he touches.

triton was such a downgrade from the original. what a wooden, dull performance. and for such an essential character it could not be more disappointing to see. I felt nothing during the scenes between triton and ariel, which are some of the most intense and emotional in the original.

melissa mccarthy surprised me at how good she was as ursula, but I'm still upset they didn't cast a drag queen. what I did not like was that they had ursula make ariel forget that she was supposed to get eric to kiss her? which is smart on ursula's part but it really makes the movie a little weird because...what the fuck does ariel think the deal is then? like what is the goal for her exactly? it really takes away some of ariel's desperation and motivation and also weirdly de-sexualizes the film even further and I don't like it.

the lyric changes were minimal but also annoying because they were so unnecessary and so obviously trying to pander to modern sensibilities in a very...corporate, squeaky clean way. like ursula doesn't get her lines about men on land preferring silence and the "body language, ha!" gets cut. and it's just. a crime.

speaking of dumb changes meant to appease some imagined version of feminism, they changed vanessa and eric's wedding to just an engagement party and oh my god it was the worst tension killer. why would you do that. all urgency is sucked out of it like WHO CARES if it's just an engagement?? that's not binding???? stupid change.

also at the end they have ariel and eric run off to go explore together which. fine I guess. but again this felt like a change meant to appease the bad faith feminist critiques of the early 2010s. it's not like a terrible change but it just feels like it's meant to say "look she doesn't marry him right away!! #feminism" and it's. like. it's a fucking fairytale. also in the original the wedding is such a lovely ending with triton coming up to send her off and everything so idk. it's not offensive just kinda silly.

oh and they also added this bizarre plot point where the human characters like...know about merpeople and blame "the sea gods" for causing ship wrecks and hunt them for sport and it...it kind of weakens the point of triton's prejudice being just that, prejudice, by making it this weird "both sides are equally bigoted!!" thing and I have just never liked that approach. ariel's argument becomes "but not all humans are bad, just the ones that kill!" and it's........*sigh*. tiresome. this never gets properly addressed either, because there isn't time, and by the end everyone's just cool with each other like ariel and eric getting together just solved all the tension or something. extremely tiresome.

they did cut les poissons. this I am fine with.

overall it's...I mean it's very watchable. nothing horribly wrong with it. but it's just another shot for shot remake with a few changes here and there to address internet criticisms from ten years ago. somehow half the soul gets sucked right out of it with the move from animation to live action, the same with all of these films. halle bailey was phenomenal though and I do think she absolutely deserved this part and I hope her career flourishes from here.

overall I'd say it's on par with the aladdin remake. like. it's fine. some good moments, some good performances, but very mid. not as egregious as mulan or the lion king, I'd say it's also better than beauty and the beast, but not as good as cinderella.

RAPS + CRAFTS #15: Duncecap

1. Introduce yourself. Past projects? Current projects?

Hey, I’m Duncecap. I've been writing and producing hip hop music since I was 15. I've also been shooting and editing videos since I was a kid.

You may have heard some of my projects released via Backwoodz Studioz (miserable then, Go Climb a Tree). You may also know me from crazy performances in NYC with the group we are the karma kids. Some of my albums from that time are Human Error and Rapping is for Idiots. 

In terms of upcoming music - exciting new stuff is coming! One forthcoming album is chiefly self-produced, one of them produced entirely by Steel Tipped Dove.

Also I have a “secret” side project - experimental ambient music under the name Depression Naps. That will probably come out this year. I need to figure the release out ASAP though.

2. Where do you write? Do you have a routine time you write? Do you discipline yourself, or just let the words come when they will? Do you typically write on a daily basis?

I usually write on the move; I’m listening to music, I have thoughts, and need something to do - it goes together perfectly. I write on walks, taking the subway, in a car. Physically moving is definitely not a rule though. I also write while procrastinating at home on the couch, or sitting with a coffee outside, in a diner is fun, etc. 

No routine time per se - I’m ready to write on a moment's notice and usually do it that way randomly throughout the day, every day.

3. What’s your medium—pen and paper, laptop, on your phone? Or do you compose a verse in your head and keep it there until it’s time to record?

I used to write in a pocket-sized notebook all the time. Writing on paper really sets some immediate boundaries with space and even the speed which you can physically write. Lyrics get crossed out then circled or rewritten and crossed out again. Sometimes you can’t read what you wrote.

Now I write on my phone. It’s faster, more legible, and with infinite space - but it’s easier to get carried away with overwriting. I’ll drop anything to write an idea down. I’m somewhat of a compulsive idea hoarder, I don’t want to let a good idea pass. 

I would love to be able to be the type of person that could fully write songs in my head but I got a lot of other things going on in there too and I get distracted easily. Freestyling is fun but I’m gonna need to write down anything I want to remember.

4. Do you write in bars, or is it more disorganized than that?

For most of my life I would write bars in long sentences, but in the past couple years I’ve noticed I’ve been breaking up my lines into halves or down to single words rather than bars. I call it my 'poetic style' on account of how it looks on the page but also how my delivery changes when I write this way. It helps me get more granular conceptually and with the rhymes too. I enjoy the end result and my voicing in that style. Projects I’ve written in this way are Genuinely Sad Songs and miserable then and the new stuff. 

Writing can get pretty disorganized regardless of medium too, but I try to run a tight ship. Disorganized writing in a digital space might look like several versions of the same lyrics doc or alternative lyrics in the same space as the original one.

5. How long into writing a verse or a song do you know it’s not working out the way you had in mind? Do you trash the material forever, or do you keep the discarded material to be reworked later?

Depends on the strength of the original writing, the context, and how much time I want to spend editing it. 

Sometimes it’s 4 bars in or less I might know. Sometimes, there’s one line in an otherwise great verse that I’m unsure about and everything past that one line feels off. Sometimes I write a whole verse and return to it thinking, “Maybe this isn’t the angle.”

Digitally, I never throw anything away. At this point I’ve embraced it, although it does weigh me down a little bit. I would love to cull the “good stuff” and start fresh in my notes app, but at this point it might take longer than it’s worth. 

Occasionally, a verse gets lost in the ether or I cut a song and I can reuse the verse elsewhere or break it down for parts. Most of the time what I write is tailored to a special concept or nuanced emotional expression. It gets tricky to go back and plug old writing into those pieces and I tend to start over in that case.

That isn’t to say that I don’t find old verses I can match up to new songs - but it doesn’t always feel good. It shouldn’t matter honestly, but something in me says: start fresh.

Though looking through searchable results in my notes app can jog my brain and get the gears turning - it’s like a mood board but with elements I created.

6. Have you engaged with any other type of writing, whether presently or in the past? Fiction? Poetry? Playwriting? If so, how has that mode influenced your songwriting?

Poetry - yes. It very much influences it. This is where my writing started as a pre-teen and I still write poetry and infuse it into my music. 

Screenwriting - yes (I want to write more scripts). 

Fiction - as a child I did write stories pretty frequently and had a bunch of little one page stories with cover art and stuff. The last long form narrative prose I wrote was a kind of memoir in college while locked out of my dorm. I wrote it all on a Blackberry phone. 

I journal too when things are rough and want to reexamine something I know I will want to reflect on in my life. A lot of times in the moment I’m experiencing it, most likely in a way to detach. 

I’m trying to think how these different mediums might specifically affect my songwriting. Poetry and journaling, for sure. The only thing I can think about for screenwriting is sometimes I will write dialogue in my songs but I don’t really clarify it as such. It’s more like internal dialogue. Sometimes I dub or adlib those lines if it’s crucial to communicate that it's another character besides mine in a song. Those moments of pseudo dialogue reminds me of the flow you can enter when writing a scene in screenwriting software - so maybe that's the link.

7. How much editing do you do after initially writing a verse/song? Do you labor over verses, working on them over a long period of time, or do you start and finish a piece in a quick burst?

For me, it matters the song I’m writing. 

Sometimes I will write a verse about literally where I’m writing or I will write a song as a way to work myself through an emotional event. These kinds of writings I try to preserve for the integrity of that moment in time and where I was physically and/or emotionally. 

For more pre-conceived and intentional concepts I will painstakingly edit them until they feel right. “Did I structure this in the most elegant way possible?” “Am I communicating the concept clearly and cleverly?” Etc. 

Those same kinds of quality controlling conditions happen regardless of how I’m writing, but there’s a bit more forgiveness in favor of earnestness when I get more personal on tracks.

8. Do you write to a beat, or do you adjust and tweak lyrics to fit a beat?

Both, it depends on the situation and how I’m feeling. 

A lot of stuff on miserable then was written as poetry first and then fit to beats. Same goes for the Genuinely Sad Songs EP. I would also record freestyles to those beats and then decode the nonsense lyrics and tones or use the rhyme patterns I established.

Most other times I would say that I write to the beat while taking some breaks listening so it doesn’t get too repetitive.

9. What dictates the direction of your lyrics? Are you led by an idea or topic you have in mind beforehand? Is it stream-of-consciousness? Is what you come up with determined by the constraint of the rhymes?

Many times I write to sort myself out, so it’s stream of consciousness while I’m overanalyzing the very stream of consciousness I’m writing. This is where I get more introspective on songs. I’ll be led by trying to find an “answer” to what I’m feeling while making it structured and rhyme.

Sometimes I look around the notes app for thought starters and when navigating that labyrinth I’ll be reminded of concepts I meant to write about later. I'll match up themes to new production to see if I can make my life a little easier if a theme or lyric doesn’t come to mind inherently for a song. This ends up being very satisfying since the piece ends up being planned out a bit more but with minimal effort. 

Rhyming does force some rules on your writing but you get used to navigating that. I wouldn’t say that rhyming would constrain a song from being made but it does make creating a song more of a puzzle - which is a lot of the fun.

10. Do you like to experiment with different forms and rhyme schemes, or do you keep your bars free and flexible?

I like to experiment with rhyming. I get bored with keeping the same rhyme scheme for a whole verse while other times it’s the thing that drives me. When you have the same scheme for a whole verse you get to play with the audience's expectations. If you're rhyming and the person you're with finishes the line for you - for me, it can be a sign that you're too predictable of a rhymer.  But if you want to be optimistic, you can see that as a sign that you are a good songwriter. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish at the time.

Sometimes rhyming doesn’t cross my mind at all and other times I’m trying to rhyme each word in a sentence to its parallel word in the subsequent line. Other times my lyrics are more melody driven and that takes a burden off of rhyme all together, or at least modifies expectation.  

I have always been fascinated by rhyme and its predictability. I love hearing wild tongue twisters that I still can’t guess the ending rhymes for. Rhyming is such a unique tool that you can subvert expectations very easily with. I find myself using an A B A B rhyme pattern pretty frequently. It’s a nice way to balance the “shock value” of non-rhyming but also getting rewarded with a rhyme. It’s also a good fall back if you are freestyling and forget to rhyme.

11. What’s a verse you’re particularly proud of, one where you met the vision for what you desire to do with your lyrics?

Here’s a couple songs where the concepts were pre-determined and I’m proud of how the final product met that initial vision:

“Under the Hood” (feat. Fielded) || Go Climb a Tree 

I had the title and knew I wanted to write about how things in life are many times antagonistically assembled or precariously produced - and then presented as clean, polished or well-thought out products. And how fragile it all is even after it’s released. 

“Well oiled machine in the shippiest shape, / One domino is all the difference it takes.” 

“Definitely” (feat. E L U C I D & Quelle Chris) || Rapping is for Idiots

I asked them to write as busy/unreachable rappers and I was supposed to be the desperate collaborator. Everybody nailed it and the video came out great as well. It’s extra gratifying to piece together a concept track with multiple folks on a record. 

In terms of one verse to point to -  there’s this verse I’m especially proud of from this upcoming Dove album. It hits hard but is also very on-point conceptually. It’s an example of one of those titles or concepts I’ve had floating around in my notes app for years and then it finally fell into place when I heard the right beat at the right time. The song is about the over-abundance of, well, everything and how overwhelming life can be in the current zeitgeist.

12. Can you pick a favorite bar of yours and describe the genesis of it?

I always used to have this question answered but the answer would change every year or so when I wrote a new project. I use writing as a means of self-discovery and the growth is never over. I don't think it'll ever be easy for me to settle on a favorite lyric because as soon as one is out of my system, I potentially don't relate to it anymore if it’s married to a specific emotional incident. Instead I go, “Oh, yeah I did a good job explaining how I felt at the time,” but it doesn’t feel as electric anymore to me in the present.

Despite that, I’ll answer the question. Here are some old standouts, I wouldn’t say I have a favorite though:

“Being self aware is not the same as trying to do something [about it]” (Bad Breath [’Toid Up])

The genesis being to have a way to remind myself and others that just because you know you are a little fucked up doesn’t mean you are actually being productive or healthy about it. Worst-case scenario it’s a negligible position to be enabling yourself but with a false sense of security.

The song “Rocks in Your Shoes” is mostly a free-write but has bars I’m proud of that satisfy both an introspective/punchy appetite:

“I talk like a parrot with a TV in the room”

“I like the way my mouth dances when I spit a tune, / My bars are choreography for my lips to move”

I dunno!

13. Do you feel strongly one way or another about punch-ins? Will you whittle a bar down in order to account for breath control, or are you comfortable punching-in so you don’t have to sacrifice any words?

Do I whittle a bar down for breath control? Yes. That usually comes in the initial writing phase but doesn’t stop there.

A lot of people, including myself, will practice their flows under their breath if they are in public or a room full of people. It’s a little odd to go full volume in those situations. Personally, I’ve found that practicing quietly like that can be misleading when it comes time to record.

Recording a demo is important. Most of the time I will face the reality of my breath control in these recordings then listen back and whittle down some more or change phrasings. Or I learn I hate a lyric the instant I’m forced to say it out loud or in front of people. The actual recording after the demo is always much more confident and polished. I either try to demo first or perform it live first before I record. Sometimes you write the verse and immediately record and land the first take, punching those always feels sacrilegious but you gotta do what you gotta do. 

I usually try to deliver verses in one take when I record. In my head, if you are planning to perform your material live anyway, it makes sense to learn it as you will perform it live. 

That being said - sometimes stylistically you might want to punch a lot or the take was perfect except for one moment. I’m more than happy to punch in those instances. I used to be more stubborn about not punching-in but when you are working with other people’s time it doesn't always make sense to deliver things in one take but it’s usually very satisfying.

14. What non-hiphop material do you turn to for inspiration? What non-music has influenced your work recently?

Musically - ambient music! I have always listened to “relaxing music” since I was a kid because I have always had anxiety. As I’ve gotten older that expanded to more experimental music, noisy music. Field recordings and ambient tones have been very inspiring to me the past couple of years.

I've been working towards bridging the gap of my “beats” and sonic experimentations for a little while and will be releasing a new ambient project this year (2023). I also recently produced an EP for someone while practicing this same type of experimental production processes. 

Outside of music I would say film! I use a lot of filmmaking language in my writing because that's just how my brain works. It’s also a clinical way to describe things visually.  

Also, I’m inspired a lot from my surroundings and experiences. I try to pull songs from my life and the characters I see or interact with. You can turn anything into poetry and I try to.

15. Writers are often saddled with self-doubt. Do you struggle to like your own shit, or does it all sound dope to you?

Dude. Self-doubt all day. Imposter syndrome all day. “I suck.” etc. I usually briefly fall in love with whatever new music I’m making and then get more distant to it when I begin something new. Recently, I was head over heels with a new song, then a day later my certainty of its quality was subverted by my silly brain. 

As I get older I’m learning to appreciate my music more. I used to be the guy to delete music after publishing it but that isn’t sustainable nor fair to listeners.  Combating self-doubt will always be a journey.

16. Who’s a rapper you listen to with such a distinguishable style that you need to resist the urge to imitate them?

All of them? Sometimes I hear a beat and think of people I know that could potentially feature on the track with me - or even famous rappers - but then I decide to have no features on the song. In those cases I worry that I might sound like whoever I thought of initially. When that happens I share a demo with friends and it’s usually just in my head.

I’m not sure this has happened to you, but there’s those moments where you strike gold while writing and realize, “Oh…this is just [famous song]”. I’m paranoid of that happening. Sometimes I won’t listen to new projects immediately if I'm already in the middle of writing something - that way it doesn’t rub off on me subconsciously. 

Funny enough though, I think hip-hop is pretty forgiving of that kind of thing in the right context. So many artists pay tribute by flipping famous lines or flows and putting them in their own songs.You don't see nearly as many cover songs in the genre as in others but see more reworkings, references, and shout-outs. 

I mean if you are biting someone's style completely that’s a no-no, but I’m not concerned about that happening.

17. Do you have an agenda as an artist? Are there overarching concerns you want to communicate to the listener?

My goal is to be financially stable off of video and music alone. 

In terms of projects, collaborations, etc. - I will always want to work with talented people and especially ones that have vision or challenge me to think outside the box. Connecting with other artists will always be a big part of music for me. 

Content-wise, I want to keep experimenting but also take myself more seriously and write less about emotional/personal issues as my default. Mental health issues are important for me and listeners tell me my words have helped them. That’s why I still do write this way and partly why I started writing that way too. If any of my experiences and learnings can help people in the same spot it’s a win and very rewarding. It’s just as validating for me to hear people relate to my writing as I’m sure it might be for a listener to hear someone describe how they feel. 

I have always been an impulsive writer and I imagine that won’t change. I can say, though, that the more I work on myself the more my growth will reflect in my writing.

If you've watched their Be behind video, and you've seen Jin talk about how RM complained to him when Tae chose Suga's version over his version you'd know where JK is coming from or where I think he is coming from having JMs version chosen over his.

He said there's a melody he worked on for RM and when Jhope thought he got snubbed he recommended he release it instead- to quench his artistic drive perhaps.

That is why he released this song. He did it for himself. Like he said, he won't put out a song unless he was confident about it.

But damn I did not see this one coming.

This is a red flag for me. And no, it doesn't mean they are broken up or having issues in their relationship.

Jk's TMI indicates they still been spending a lot of time together.

This is just a sign there's too much independence in their dynamic now- if you know what I mean.

Relationships flourish based on how attached we are to people- too much attachment is a problem, too little attachment is equally bad.

Jikook have always had a problem with over attachment in their dynamics in my opinion, to the point it was lowkey unhealthy- the jealousy, not being able to 'act professionally' within a group and work environment, having problems with being separated however briefly, constantly wanting to be where the other is etc.

Less attachment isnt necessarily a bad thing either. It means less of all the 'toxic' aspects of their relationship that over attachment brings but too much of that too can trigger anxiousness and insecurity and resentment.

Especially if one of them hates change. Cough Jimin.

With that comes all the wild aspects of love such as possessiveness, jealousy and I know JM doesn't do too well in that department...

In my opinion, I see JM as having a problem when JK breathes down his neck emotionally speaking, and at the same time he has a problem when he is too emotionally distant.

All this is interesting to me.

Who do I need to talk to to give me more of Jikook interactions individually or jointly?

I want to see more of their interactions beyond the overly staged, dramatized fanservice and official content.

Spending a lot of time around eachother and eating each other's ramen- pun intended, does not reflect on how intimate you are.

Intimacy requires depth and depth requires attachment.

How you treat eachother's needs and goals, dreams and desires is equally indicative of the intimacy in your relationship.

That has always been one distinctive quality of Jikook's ship.

And so I wonder the thought process that went into this decision. I know JM wouldn't object to JK sharing things like these or doing things that make him happy even if it has the potential to impact his own shine in any way.

Okay I finally made it to your idol life ship, I actually feel emotional 😭 I loved doing every single one, even after the drabble is finished please don’t hesitate to pop in and say hi or request ships or more drabbles. Now let’s get into it!

Since you could remember you had always had an interest in music, it was a sense of intrigue for you. You could do so much with performing and music, yet it was something that many could access. Though you had considered music you didn’t think it would be possible for you to drop your old life to pursue a career as an idol. Luckily you didn’t have to do much for KQ to come to you. You were scouted for their new girl group, they had found some videos of you performing your own original music.

Whether you knew it or not you had given the impression  that you had a genuine love of music, paired with the aesthetic and the pleasing visuals. You seemed well put together. Even if you were taking a more simplistic approach it was something that KQ could see in their planned group. When they had reached out to you they were surprised that you accepted their offer so quickly, it was a stab in the dark on their part. Going through your Youtube channel you had certainly shown creative initiative through your songwriting. You held the innocence and lust for life that would be a unique yet pleasant contrast to the theme of the group. 

During your early days as a trainee you were actually quite uncomfortable, though you could manage it was far different from what you had envisioned it to be. Due to this you were one of the more withdrawn trainees, you had a lot to say and a lot that you wanted to share but could never find the right moment to do so.

Eventually the others warmed up to you, it was almost like a flip of a switch. You went from being a quiet loner to one of the admired trainees. You were agreeable and despite your modesty and lack of experience in idol training, your ambition resulted in you drastically improving in all areas. 

You had managed to hang in there enough to debut after four years of being a trainee. Unfortunately the majority of your friends didn’t debut as members of Syren, as a result of this you seriously considered giving up your spot but decided against that after a comforting pep-talk with your friends. You had still managed to support them, and offer advice until they had gotten the opportunity to debut.

~Your Position~  Leader, Main producer, Vocalist & Sub-Dancer.

There was a reason your group had debuted immediately after ATEEZ, KQ was trying something that would have been a first in the Kpop industry. Your group was going to have clear ties to ATEEZ and the lore that was created, while they were pirates roaming the seas, escaping their dark sides and seeking freedom. Syren was exactly that, a group of Sirens who roamed the sea luring people in with their voice and beauty. The age-old legend had obviously been modernized to fit in with the exquisite nature of kpop.

The nature of your music doesn’t seem to match the lore initially but when you go into depth you see that it does work, your debut song was quite energetic and out there, the eye-catching nature of it was what drew people in. The harsh beat, rap and the drops in the song itself represents the sheer power you and your group have when you are together.

Often times there is a reference to your group in ATEEZ’s music and videos and vice versa, you have a few songs where you collaborate in a sense your groups were designed to be twin flames. Though this story was created by the company your group has total influence on the music that you put out and how you want that to connect with ATEEZ. That’s where you come in, you take on the responsibility as producer, you mainly write and compose the songs. You have quite a talent for inspiring and creating a strong plot through something that is only 3-4 minutes long. You’re very respected in your group due to this, you’re quite literally the author of your group.

Slightly touching on what I said earlier you are most known for your leadership skills and your overall, open nature. You are simultaneously creative and intelligent, you really have everything that makes a perfect leader. You’re motivated by a need to be there for other people, you are one of the more present members. You’re supportive and always try your hardest to support and push your members to succeed, your presence is never overbearing either.

 A lot of fans view you as the angel of the group, you always stop what you’re doing to update your fans on your life. You create a beautiful space for your fans and they just see you as a comfort. 

Adding on to you being so open to experience, you and your group often frequent talk shows and game shows. In these instances you are one of the fan favourites, it’s always fun to see how you react to things. It’s also more of a comfort to your fans to see you so genuinely happy and coming across as a regular person.

One thing that constantly follows Ten around, his apparent trademark, is his love of beauty and expression. This also goes for people, Ten absolutely adores friends who share a similar perspective, people who make a conversation effortless. Though he often jokes about it, he definitely isn’t lying when he says he lowkey manifested your friendship.

The day Ten had stumbled across your group was an unassuming day, he had thought he saw everything but alas he scrolled through Youtube for the fourth time within the last hour, he was about to just give up and shift his attention to following around one of his members like a lost puppy when the intricate thumbnail of your Bite Me mv caught his attention.

Before he knew it he had wasted a considerable amount of time in awe, in some ways Ten is hard to impress so imagine his surprise when he couldn’t pick out one thing he didn’t like. He was captivated by the theme and the flawless nature of every single member, not to mention the catchiness of the song.

Even though your group had literally just debuted Ten would proudly advertise for your group, in a casual way of course. After a while it became obvious that Ten was the ninth member of Syren even if it was just in his heart. At no time did he ever think that he could ever meet you all in person.

So imagine his surprise when a year later he was sitting in the Inkigayo cafeteria with the members of WayV and your group approached him. Well technically you had come to introduce yourself to the group as a whole, nevertheless Ten had his fanboy moment.

Ten had immediately clicked with all of the members but you were one of the few members who gave him a smile so big it hurt, since then you and Ten have been the iconic duo. He sees you as a little sister, with that being said he most likely treats you like one. Nothing brings him as much joy as being able to playfully insult you or tease you, your reactions are priceless. Your relationship with him is just so wholesome, it’s such a sweet thing to witness when the two of you meet at award shows. Though Ten manifested this friendship with his entire being he didn’t manifest the brotherly love that welled in his heart when he sees you.

Okay it may sound a little harsh or disheartening but it honestly took a while for Hongjoong to notice that he had any romantic feelings for you. Hongjoong is a very hard worker, that being said he was always very prepared to be married to his job in a sense. Hongjoong was always aware of your existence as a trainee so when he heard that you were a member of ATEEZ’s sister group he was more than happy. Though he hadn’t spoken to you that much he had a good sense of intuition, and it told him that the two of you would get on like a house on fire.

He was glad that he was correct with his theory, considering that the two of you frequently worked together to create new music. The two of you had a hectic schedule that required the two of you to work together. With the creation of your group KQ had gone the extra mile to ensure that your groups would be parallel to each other by giving the two of you more creative liberty when it came to the concepts and ideas your groups had. This meant that you were in constant communication with each other, discussing what the connecting theme would be in your comebacks, what choreography would compliment your groups and the likes. So it wasn’t a surprise that the relationship between the two of you remained strictly professional for the most part.

Hongjoong’s crush on you formed in an almost instantaneous manner, it was another one of those days where the two of you were throwing around ideas for your latest mv release. Nothing was out of the ordinary as your cycle continued: Work, a fifteen minute break and jokes to break the uneventful moments of your time together. You normally laughed at his jokes, he had a witty humour that aligned itself with cringy dad jokes and you loved it! But for some reason the sight of you in stitches at one of these jokes made his heart skip a beat. Moments like this became a frequent occurrence, Hongjoong felt a wave of shame wash over him even though part of him knew he shouldn’t. 

So the deep thinking leader took a few steps back asking himself if he had always felt this way, he couldn’t figure out when it had started but he was sure he had felt this way for a while. Every moment he had to himself he began to search through his memories, was it when he first met you as a trainee? Was it when you helped him create Desire? Or was it when you bought him some dinner/breakfast when he stayed up into the early hours of the morning? 

He wasn’t proud of himself, he definitely let this drag out for way too long. It had been a month and he still didn’t have any of the answers he was searching for. What made the situation ten times worse in his opinion was the fact that he still had to work so closely with you, he considered coming up with an excuse but he didn’t want to act out like a stubborn child. One day he approached Seonghwa and begged him to switch places ‘You always wanted to produce a song right?! You can write the rest of the song with y/n’ . For obvious reasons Seonghwa just gave a polite smile and walked away. So in short he was kind of pushed towards having some words with you, and that’s exactly how he he worded it. 

You were kind of worried, had you upset him? Were you lacking as a producer? Did you distract him? It turns out you were a big distraction but not in the way you thought. Hongjoong could tell you were already rigid and uncomfortable, by that reaction alone he was already ready to chicken out, the devil on his shoulder told him to run out of the room and never look back but the angel beckoned him to stay so he did. He launched into the conversation in a casual way, mainly to save his own sanity. He thought he was going well until he accidentally slipped in a confession ‘Yeah, that’s a brilliant idea! You have so many great ideas, that’s why I love you.’  

To say the room was awkward was an understatement, you would break a knife if you tried to cut the tension. Hongjoong didn’t know how you’d react but he figured it couldn’t get any worth than this, so he leaned in and placed a soft kiss on your lips. It was over in a flash and you seriously didn’t know whether this was real or if you were in an insane lucid dream. Hongjoong was functioning on 2x speed since he had already thanked you for the conversation and was making his way out the door, there was no way you were letting this slide. Gripping his wrist you gently tugged on it to beckon him to stay, ‘I love you too, my little desire’.  

~Crushing on You~ San (ATEEZ)

San doesn’t necessarily believe in fate or anything that comes off cheesy as hell (in his opinion), despite this he still feels that there was a deeper meaning behind him meeting you.

A year into your time as a trainee there was an influx of new trainees though some were girls a year or so your junior the majority were fresh-faced cocky guys who held an idol aura since day one. You had to admit you fell into the group of people who thought that the new trainees were just for show, you came to the conclusion that if they were this attractive there personality would be quite ugly and distasteful. In this instance you were so glad that your theory was proved incorrect by no other than Choi San.

During the time where you felt socially isolated it was San who first introduced himself to you, at the time he hadn’t held any attraction to you. San’s reasoning for wanting to be around you was born out of the innocence of his admiration for your talents.  At the time San wasn’t as talkative as he is now, even so he still fit in well with the other trainees. 

It was quite a shock to the others when San refused to join them for lunch in hopes that he could stay back and practice. It just so happened you had also decided to stay behind in hopes of refining your dance moves.

San refused to make it too obvious so he introduced himself and bombarded you with compliments, San’s chaotic positivity was a much needed breath of fresh air. That would be the start of a close mutual friendship that extended well into your days as official idols. San was a happiness pill that you often indulged in, whether it be through watching a movie in their dorm room, texting each other into the early hours of the morning or simply hugging each other.

San stuck by the idea that his heart skipped many a beat purely because you were his best friend, San wouldn’t realise the extent of his love until you confessed to him that you and Hongjoong had been a happy couple for four months. San was crushed, the way your eyes lit up when speaking about Hongjoong he couldn’t help but think ‘It should be me’  when you show off the rose Hongjoong had bought you on a whim he thinks ‘She would have liked my gift better’.  As he lays awake in the middle of the night he goes back and forth in his head, writing, deleting and rewriting the same string of words ‘Why can’t it be us?’

jae made sure to explain to hyunjin why she gets cold towards him and the members sometimes, and he was completely understanding (now he makes sure to pay extra attention and is more aware). 

when jae is cooking or baking, hyunjin likes to help, but not in the typical way of “helping”. he likes to encourage her, and be the DJ while she cooks. (he also likes eating her food as shes cooking -- taste tester).

aside from chan, hyunjin is probably one of the members she trusts the most. she doesn't handle her emotions all too well, and hyunjin knows that, so if she needs support and a shoulder to cry on, or if she needs an ear to rant to for hours and hours, he is always there for her.

also hyunjin tends to face a fair amount of hate as well, so he usually flees to his ‘noona’ for moral support and to be praised if praising is needed.

even if shes mad at him,, jae literally won't leave his side if he is feeling sad or discouraged, and will do everything in her power to make him feel better.

jae makes sure to compliment him on his dancing, rapping and vocals, rather than focusing on his appearance, since most people just see him as a visual. 

they rely greatly on eachother for emotional stability; jae handles her sadness and stress by pushing her feelings down, while hj faces his feeling head-on, and with a pure eye. they learn a lot from one another.

she actually told him that it was ok if he didn’t want to call her ‘noona’, just because they are close in age, and she sees him as someone equal to her. (he still calls her ‘noona’).

jae also enjoys teaching hyunjin about america, and new york in general, as well as about the different social justice movements she supports.

he lets her braid his hair, do his makeup, and even paint his nails sometimes.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, this is another ship in which people tend to go crazy for, as they are always with one another, and are pretty touchy now that jae initiates more physical affection with him.

hj had a BIG crush on her once she first joined, and its been on and off since then. he doesn't really want to tell her, bc he is afraid that she'll get scared or feel uncomfortable, and he doesn't want to risk it. (but it had been lowkey killing the poor guy)

there is a bit of an inside joke that hyunjin is actually older than jae, and that he takes care of her more than she takes care of him, but the both of them know that their support is mutual, and that age doesn't matter when it comes to caring for a friend.

hyunjin loves that jae is like his baby, and will make it known that he will forever baby her. 

overall, they both value their friendship greatly, as well as the emotional support they receive from one another, and they will forever be each other’s hype men <3

Please tell me the plots and songs of the glee episode I need to know

Ok so going in I want to note that I turned off the TV and abandoned Glee when Sarah Jessica Parker showed up because it was a bridge too far, so it’s more of “if Hamilton had come out earlier” than “if Glee had kept going.” I would also like to note that many of these plot points are in very poor taste and problematic, because a lot of Glee was in very poor taste and problematic. I’m not trying to outline a good version of a Hamilton Glee episode, I’m trying to outline a realistic version.

Also this got to a point where it’s so long that it needs a readmore. So if you don’t care you can just scroll on by.

So the A plot is obviously Rachel Berry being pissed off at the Hamilton rules that the main cast be played people of color except for King George, because she would rather die than be out of the spotlight for an hour. Rachel is a terrible person and exactly the kind of terrible person who would be mad at this. She would also be terrible at rapping. A very ripped from the (broadway) headlines conflict, there were a lot of white people in 2016 who were very mad about having one show where they couldn’t audition for the lead roles. 

They’re learning about the Revolutionary War in history class and there’s some BS reason that they need to sing songs about history. They’re doing Hamilton instead of 1776 because it’s more hip. Anyways there’s a half-assed debate over whether they’ll follow the same rules as the real show for their production, we have some snappy but stupid dialogue of Kurt asking if being gay counts as being a poc, they decide they will follow the Hamilton guidelines, and Mr. Schue stands up to Rachel for once and says she can’t sing a main song and has to do ensemble, even though she starts to sing a few bars of “Burn” in the middle of class, which is interrupted by the bell. We all know they won’t sing the actual songs but instead a mashup, but it’s decided that the parts of the songs will be doled out appropriately.

Because of this we have our first actual song, which is Rachel performing “Nonstop” in the hallways of McKinley High. It is not good. It is one where if you downloaded the Glee cast album, you would skip it. We have several versions of her in different costumes doing all the roles. It’s too much. She has her hair in a ponytail and a fake goatee to look like Lin Manuel Miranda. 

Now in our B plot, Santana and Brittany broke up for some reason. What reason? Doesn’t matter. It’s always Kurt and Blaine or Santana and Brittany breaking up, and I want more Santana solos than Kurt falsetto. Santana is upset about this, and we get an actually awesome version of “Satisfied” as she watches Brittany flirt with someone new. This would be a good enough cover that you would definitely download it.

Back to the A plot. Mercedes, Mike, Unique, Blaine (if Glee acknowledged that Darren Criss is Filipino, I can’t remember if they did or not), and Tina (Santana maybe, she could be somewhere else if needed) are getting annoyed with Rachel for being, well, Rachel, and they channel those feelings into a really good cover of “Burn” mashed up with “My Shot” (”I hope that you buuurn-” “I am not throwing away my shot!”). Rachel overhears this and takes it extremely personally. She runs to have a breakdown in the bathroom. You would download this song as well, it would slap.

In the bathroom, Rachel sings “Hurricane.” The song ends with a toilet flushing, symbolizing the hurricane.

Then Brittany walks in to the bathroom with the B Plot and tries to say something kind of nice because she’s not a totally shitty person and will not be a dick to a crying person when Santana walks in. She yells at Rachel for like 2 minutes for talking to Brittany and also for making everything about herself. The camera frames this in a way where we understand that we’re supposed to feel bad for Rachel. The insults are the funniest part of the episode because Naya Rivera was excellent, may she rest in peace. 

They all realize that they need to work together if they want to do this performance right (is it a singing competition? a fundraiser? It does not matter) and we get an ensemble performance of “Guns and Ships” as they get ready and make up.

Our A plot is resolved with whichever guy they had doing the King George part getting food poisoning, it really doesn’t matter who, and Rachel gets to do those parts, which end up taking up way more of the mashup than they deserve to and teaching her nothing. The final number is basically The Hamilton Polka but without the joking noises. If Weird Al had less money they’d copy it straight up, like they did with the Jonathan Coulton version of Baby Got Back.

Now there may be some more songs in there to bulk up the episode but not really add to the plot (Sue Sylvester and Mr. Schue doing “The Farmer Refuted” in the principal’s office could be good),  but these are the main ones. If we could somehow get Mercedes, Tina, and Santana to do “The Schuyler Sisters” that would also be excellent but I can’t quite figure out where it would go. I also can’t find a good place for “Say No to This,” I think it could be either something with Quinn or Mr. Schue being incredibly inappropriate with a student. Maybe with Miss Pillsbury if it’s at a point where that’s a thing? It would be incredibly awkward to see two white kids in Ohio say “Immigrants- We get the job done” but it would happen and there would be essays about it online.

Also if they can afford him, Lin Manuel Miranda has a guest spot as a history teacher. Following the precedent of Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth, they do not acknowledge his part in Hamilton. Jonathan Groff has a prior filming commitment and doesn’t appear in spite of being the original King George.

The problem on the side of the stage.

The finally recalled from during rehearsal but didn’t hear specifically where. As you walked into your group’s hectic dressing room, they staff pull you to the side.

“I know this is last minute but we had to add some small changes to your outfit.” The staff quickly explained how they changed your outfit to be more comfortable for dancing and to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions. As they showed you the new outfit, you eyes widen on how bright and glittery it is to fit the song. You took a look at yourself in the mirror as you wore a golden scallop beaded linen top along with white mariah shorts with triangle cut hem paired with heeled boots with touches of golden accents and accessories. You felt confident in the outfit you wore, maybe because of after your performance with Moonbin. As the makeup artist finished with your makeup, you stood up, suddenly feeling a wave of blurriness and dizziness, making you hold on to the arm of the seat as you regained balance.

“Y/N?! Are you okay? Are you sure you’re alright. Don’t push yourself.” Yun Hee who was sitting beside you, held onto your arm with eyes filled with worry as the rest of you members started worry as well.

“I think I stood up too fast. I’m okay, really. I’ve never been ready than now.” You smiled, as the rest of the members stared at you for a while before all nodding in union. All your member’s outfits had accents of golden and white in dresses, and two-pieces, suiting the song that you were covering.

“You all look so beautiful.” One of the staff says as she helped you put on your in-ear.

“Thank you. It’s all thanks to the designer who designed these for us.” You replied with a smile.

“Are you nervous?”

“A little. Not as much as before thought. Maybe because I already performed earlier.”

“Right, I saw from backstage. You and Moonbin were absolutely so cute together. I wouldn’t be surprise if fans started shipping the two of you together.” You let out a embarrassed chuckle as you felt your cheeks tint.

“Oh, and about the side stage with the incident.”

“Yes, what about it?”

“Where exactly did you say the flooring is weak? I couldn’t hear during rehearsal.”

“Oh it’s near where you’re-”

“Eunoia! Please get ready to head on backstage for standby!” The direction came in as you and your members nodded.

“Alright you’re all good to go!” She whipped her hands, satisfied.

“Wait, you haven’t told me-”

“It’s just near the side of the middle stage. Be careful! I know you’ll do great! Eunoia fighting!” She quickly answered as your members pulled your arm to head out.

‘Well that wasn’t much help.’ you thought to yourself as you walked towards the backstage. As you walked underground the main stage, you could hear muffles of screaming as cheering as they got louder and louder. Your group was performing after the current group on stage. You and your members took a quick group photo before standing on the side of the stage, watching the current performance in awe. Your heart rate starting racing knowing that their performance was soon coming to an end as Remi called everyone over for a final calling.

“Alright, let’s give our absolute all, alright? We’ve worked so hard and that I know we’ll do amazing as always. Don’t overthink it and let’s have fun and perform energetically for everyone and your seniors as well!” Remi yells over the booming music as everyone stuck out the hands in the middle of the circle. You and your members all cheered, looking at each other with nervous yet eager smiles before shouting your group cheer. As the performance finished with the lights dimming, the stage staff directed you to head on to the stage and get into position. You and your members scurried over, as you suddenly felt yourself shake and get the cold sweats. You pushed away your worries and anxious thoughts as you got into position and got ready to give your all. The middle stage dimly glowed as you quickly took a glance at where you’ll be walking before the audience started screaming with your performance about to start. Then, with the lights lighting up on you and your members, the music started booming with you and your members passionately dancing and singing.

Your mind was empty, as you saw nothing but bright lights shining down on you and the music blasting in your ears. You and your group got through the first chorus and the second chorus where you would leave midway and walk off to the middle stage for your solo. Your nervousness starting growing as the second chorus began. At the midway marker, the camera focused on your members as you hurriedly walk off the main stage and jogging onto the extended stage to the middle stage. As you jogging over to the side of the side of the middle stage, you forgot where you felt the wobbling during rehearsal. In a hurry, you step onto the platform when suddenly your view of the audience became pitch black, making you shut your eyes in shock and confusion and a loud thud. All of the sudden, you felt pain shooting up your back as you opened your eyes and realized you fell down the weak platform, landing you under the stage where a few staff jerked to look at you with horrid expressions.

‘I need to get back on stage.’ was the only thing that came to your mind as you stood up, feeling your knees go numb and sharp pains shooting through your body.

“Y/N?! Are you okay?! You’re bleeding!”

“She just fell a floor someone call the ambulance! She just fell a floor!” The staffs started running over to check on you.

“I’m okay.” You spoke, forgetting that your mic was on as your ran over to the stairwell to the middle of the stage that was fortunately near. Your felt the staff pulling you back, telling you to stop but you needed to finish the perform as you pushed yourself to walk up the stairs. Luckily there was still some time before you solo as you took a deep breathe before the lights turned to aim down at you as you started rapping Nayeon’s part of the song. As you danced, you felt your muscles and bones ache but you were determine to finish no matter what. As your eyes gazed over at the audience, you saw them with mixed expression of shocked and panicked where staffs and your managerwhere all gathering on the bottom of the side with great anxiousness. Looking behind the audience were he different idols who watched as well with widen eyes and and fingers pointing at you, making you confused with their reactions. Your visions wasn’t the greatest without your glasses but you were able to make out the line of figures that stood up in unions at the back with they hands over their mouth that belong to no other than Seventeen. Carrying on with the performance, your body started getting more and more numb as a few of your members glanced at your before shooting a horrid reaction for a split second. The blinding lights started making your eyes roll back as the music started getting more and more muffled. Pushing yourself to the very last beat, you saw a blurry yet familiar figure push through his members and run back and down the stairs. And the song comes to an end with your groups strong stance as your tried to hold on till the very end. Lights in the middle stage slowly darkened and the fans screamed as your bowed. You bent your waist, bowing forwards when you lost all balance and consciousness before collapsing on the floor with the view of your members gathering to you blurring.

“Eunoia’s performing!!” Dino excitedly nudged his members shoulders as they all nodded, intensely watching your group’s cover song

“Their outfits look so sparkling and bright!” Mingyu complimented while bobbing his head to the beat. Wonwoo quietly watched your performance, eyes not leaving you as he studied you outfit

“Wow....” He mumbled as Minghao looked over his shoulder at him with a small grin.

“Y/N looks beautiful doesn’t she?” Minghao hummed, making Wonwoo unconsciously nod before snapping back to reality and turned to Minghao.

“I meant they all look good!’ He tried to explain. He knew you were passionate about dancing but seeing you on stage with such outfits made him feel differently as his heart lit up. As you would look intensely at the camera and smile lightly made his heart almost melt, making Minghao who noticed everything on the side, laugh.

“Oh, where did Y/N go?” Woozi pointed out during the second chorus as all the members started looking for you. Suddenly a loud thud was heard, even with all the loud music as everyone started glancing around of what was happening. Your members paused for a split second at the sound but carried on as if nothing happened.

“I’m okay” your voice was heard over the music, making everyone confused.

“Wasn’t that voice....” the boy group looked at each other

“Y/N.” Wonwoo whispered as his eyes scanned all around the screen for you presence. As the middle stage lit up, he saw you and let out a sigh.

“Y/N’s bleeding?!” Jeonghan pointed as gasped and mumbles were spreading. Wonwoo jolted up, as the idols in font turned back from his sudden movements as his members all stood up, trying to get a closer look. His eyes were filled with shock as they say your bleeding knees but you still continued professionally. As fans started mumbling about what they saw, Wonwoo saw staff rushing out backstage. He saw the hole on the side of the stage from where you fell as concern yet angry built up in him. He noticed that you were slowly loosen your strength as he bite his lip harder from such painful sight but yet smile happily on camera. As the song finished and the lights dimmed, his breath fastened when he saw you collapsed as everyone gasped, mumbling.

“I’m going to check out on he-” Minghao was about to walk when Wonwoo pushed him back and past his members before stepping down the stairs to back stage in a dash.

“Y/N? Y/N!” Your members all circled around you, screaming and shaking you once the lights were shut but you remain unresponsive and 

“Y/N, please wake up...” your members burst into tears as they scanned your bruised and injured body. They were pulled back as staff rushed up on stage to carry you down as they followed closely behind. You were placed on  a ambulance stretcher before being rushed to the hospital.

‘Why am I getting so worked up?’ Wonwoo thought to himself as he walked into his dressing room to get ready for his performance.

“Wonwoo was running dressing room to dressing room, heavily breathing to see where you were. His eyes were wider than ever as they moved frantically to find your whereabouts. Just then one of your members were turned around the corner, whipping her tears.

“Where’s Y/N? Where is she?!” shot questions at her.

“Wonwoo, wait up!” his members can running behind. His breath was heavy as he impatiently waited for her answer.

“Where is she? Is she alright?” He asked in a more calm tone.

“She’s rushed to the hospital... But no matter how many times we tried calling her, she’s not answering...” tears started rolling down her face as Wonwoo’s face hardens with appall.

“She’ll be alright. Are you heading over to the hospital right now?” Seungcheol placed a hand on Wonwoo’s shoulder as Dokyeom and Hoshi pulled him back.

“Do you know how high she fell?” Seungcheol tried soothing her as she hiccuped for her cries.

“I heard the staff say around 3m. She fell to the underground standby area where a few staff saw and tried to stop her but she just ran back up to stage before they could stop her.” Wonwoo was frozen, not knowing what to do with what he just heard.

“Alright. We’ll meet you at the hospital after our performance. Update us if anything happens.” Minghao softly says as she nodded before heading out. “She’ll be alright. Don’t worry.” He turned back to Wonwoo with a reassuring look.

Wonwoo couldn’t stop thinking about you and if you’re doing okay. He found himself pacing back and forth in the dressing room, staring at his phone for any news in the group chat you were in with Seventeen. A staff came in to escort them backstage as they prepared to perform on of their songs. As they entered the stage, fans were cheering endlessly at their appearance, screaming names of each member. Wonwoo shook his head, trying to get himself into ‘stage presence’ as they got into position and waited for the music. They all dance in synchronization, amazing the crowd as well as idols as they finished with heavy breaths and sweat. Once the lights moved to the next stage, Wonwoo dashed back to their dressing room, changing into his casual wear before getting into the van, while rushing his members to get ready.

Your eyes slowly fluttered opened, being greeted by faces looking down at you with worries expression. Once your sight focused, the faces of your members became clear.

“What happened?” You weakly said as your members’ face’s softens

“Do you remember anything?” 

“The last time I recall was up until I was walking to the side of the middle stage and then everything became pitch black.” You tried retracing your memories but then pain started hitting the side of your head.

“You fell down to the standby area but then managed to get back on stage and perform the rest of the song before collapsing at the end.” Nari explained as she rested her hand over yours. Everyone was quiet, looking down at the floor with disappointment in themselves.

“What’s wrong? What’s with the sad faces? I’m fine... Right?” You slowly said as they all looked up with tears.

“We weren’t able to help you. Or noticed until the very end.” You looked at them with widen eyes as they cried.

“No no no! Please don’t blame yourself. I didn’t hear properly during rehearsal where the problem on the stage was. Plus, you guys were still on the main stage so you have no clue. Please, don’t blame yourself.” You tried calming them down. “Hey, at least we got to finish the performance as one.” You smiled sorrowfully.

“Yeah but the fact that you went up there with bleeding knees and bruised body doesn’t make it any better! How did you manage to even continue after falling from such a high distance?”

“ ‘I have to finish it together.’ was what came to my mind. I guess that’s what drove me to get up there and finish it no matter what, even though I don’t have much memory from the rest.” Your members chuckled through their tears before coming in to hug you lightly. A light knock was heard at the door before the doctor came in.

“Miss Y/N. How are you feeling?” He asked as your members stepped to the side, listening carefully. 

“Just a little nauseous and dizzy.”

“It must be the effects of anesthesia. It’ll wear off in a few hours but if it gets worst, please let the nurse know and we can get you some medication. As if for now, try to get some rest.” He explained as you nodded trying to sit up when you felt some compression wraps and bandages around your body and your forehead.

“Am I.... Okay?” You cautiously asked as the doctor flipped through some papers.

“For someone who fell off 3m, it can be quite dangerous if not, fatal.” He started off as you felt tears forming in your eyes, not knowing if you want to hear his next words. “But, I can say that you’re very lucky. You’re suffering some fractures on wrist, knees and some bruising on your arms, head and cheeks which may seem a lot but then again, I would consider you very lucky.” You sigh, not knowing how to take in the information.

“How long will it take to recover?”

“If all goes well, at least a couple of months. But for a case like this, let’s not rush. As if for now, you’ll be here for a month or so.” You silently nodded. “Well then, the nurse or I will come check on you again a little bit later. As if for now, please rest up and call us if you need anything.” You and your members thanked him before he left the room. You felt the air get heavy in the room as you nor your members knew what to say.

“How about I go out to buy you something to eat?” Kira tried to lighten the mood.

“Right! Like maybe some fried rice if you want?”

“Or your favourite ice cream!”

“How about your favourite dishes?” They all started suggesting your favourite food.

“Thanks guys, but I don’t really have the strength or mood to eat anything at the moment.” You weakly smiled, feeling the patch on the side of your cheek and jaw tighten as you felt slightly pain. You rested your hand on your face, as your members got what you meant.

“Right. How about we bring you some soft foods tomorrow? It’ll be easier on your jaw.” Na On suggested as you nodded.

“Thanks guys. Really. I’ll be fine, like the doctor said! There’s no need to worry.” They all looked at you, knowing that they shouldn’t bring up your recovery time. “I’m a little tired so I’m going to get some rest.” You smile bitterly as they all nodded and gave you light hugs before leaving the room, telling you to not hesitate to reach to the to nurses or them for anything. Once they all left the room your stared at your bandages around your wrist and touched the patches on your face and head, feeling anger and disappointment in yourself. Tears started flowing out of your face, but your couldn’t explain exactly way. Your emotions where mixed up from confusion, sadness and disappointment. You wiped away your tears with a sigh and laid back down, closing your eyes as you tried to get some rest.

My Universe: BTS & Coldplay’s Sci-Fi Music Video Explained

BTS and Coldplay went fully, gloriously sci-fi in the music video for their collaboration, “My Universe.” In the new music video, released at midnight on September 30th, the two bands exist in a futuristic reality where music is forbidden. In spite of the ban, and with the help of a space DJ, the groups come together for a high-energy, galaxy-spanning performance of their new song.

The “My Universe” music video/short film is directed by Dave Meyers, an American filmmaker best known for his commercials and music videos, which include MVs for artists Drake, Ed Sheeran, Pink, Normani, Ariana Grande, and many, many more. High-concept, genre-driven music videos are par for the course in the visually immersive world of K-pop, but are less common in western music videos, which (save for some outliers, like Janelle Monae’s funky, political sci-fi adventures) have more “grounded,” realistic aesthetics, even when they skew fantastical. A great example of the latter is Harry Styles’ “Adore You” video. Also directed by Meyers—it has a speculative fiction premise in which Styles has a literally blinding smile, falls in love with a fish, and is able to power his sailboat using the winds of his jarred yells, but keeps its visuals down to Earth to tell its fairy tale-like story.

“My Universe,” on the other hand, embraces the science fiction aesthetics of working class space operas like Space Sweepers or Guardians of the Galaxy, with some (and I mean this as a compliment) Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century thrown in for good measure.

Rebellion is a popular theme in the space opera subgenre, and it’s one that “My Universe” embraces. The video is set in an intergalactic future in a place known where all music is banned. Three different bands—BTS, Coldplay, and a fictional alien supergroup called Supernova7—who live on three different plans defy the ban to create music together via hologram. They are hunted by The Silencers, who enforce the no-music status quo.

Most importantly, the music video doesn’t prioritize either Coldplay or BTS’ worlds. While we may visit Coldplay’s dry, graffitied planet first, where we first meet BTS in their holographic forms, we also go to BTS’ industrial-dystopia home, where Coldplay visits as holograms. The music video’s best moment, in fact, comes when we follow a flickering, holographic V from Coldplay’s planet back to his own, where he—and, with him, the six other members—bloom into more tangible form.

Did BTS Invent Star Trek?

The design and CGI for the video is impressive and varied, though a little too busy to fully appreciate the stunning outer space visuals, Tron-esque spaceships interiors, and alien planet-scapes. The video includes visual callbacks to the official lyric video for “My Universe,” which is beautifully designed to feature the multi-colored English and Korean-language lyrics zooming through space. The colors and premise are also reminiscent of the video serial that was part of BTS’ Muster Sowoozoo Concert in June. In the story, the seven members of BTS make their way across an alien landscape in a camper van, searching for a safe place to meet ARMY. While the Sowoozoo serial was much cozier and more chill than “My Universe” video, I’d love to hear some good head canon about how these videos exist in the same fictional universe.

What Does the “My Universe” Music Video Mean?

Both the “My Universe” song and music video have a pretty broad, easy-to-get-behind concept. The love song is about a relationship that transcends boundaries. Thematically, the idea of coming together across divisions or differences is particularly poignant when performed by bands from different sides of the planet. This is reinforced by the decision to include Korean-language lyrics in the collaboration. BTS has proven themselves more than capable of singing in English. Three of their latest hits—”Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Permission to Dance”—are all sung fully in the English language by the Korean band. However, BTS and Coldplay chose to feature Korean-language elements as an integral part of the collaboration, emphasizing the multicultural nature of the song and its message.

The music video doubles down on the theme of people coming together despite distance and differences. In it, BTS and Coldplay (and, OK, alien supergroup Supernova 7) are excited to collaborate. Together, they make something beautiful and special that brings them joy despite the seemingly dismal worlds that surrounds them both. Here, the enemy is not difference, but a mysterious, totalitarian force that has banned all music. Personified by “The Silencers,” this antagonist can be broadly interpreted by the societal prejudices that can sometimes keep up apart, but also by a pandemic that has made the most basic rituals of togetherness more complicated. It doesn’t seem a coincidence that the fictional versions of BTS and Coldplay featured in this video are unable to be together in person. It’s a representation of the forced physical distance that has come to define much of the past few years. It’s why seeing the bands find a way, despite their harsh reality, to share a joyful experience so damn inspiring.

While the visuals of “My Universe” may be intentionally futuristic, the ability to play together across vast swathes of space is not. Just last week, Coldplay and BTS performed as part of the Global Citizen Live event. The bands were in two different countries—Coldplay in NYC, and BTS back home in Seoul—but came “together” on stage. The seven members of BTS were featured as holograms on a backdrop as Chris Martin sang both English and Korean-language parts of the song. (The Korean-language rap sections performed by Suga and J-Hope were pre-recorded.) Coldplay notably traveled to Korea to record “My Universe” during the pandemic.

“My Universe” Music Video Ending Explained

The breakout character from the “My Universe” music video is arguably DJ Lafrique, played by actress Joe Diao. DJ Lafrique is the character who is able to bring Coldplay and BTS together, across the universe. She is the most powerful figure featured in this story, and her rebellion comes at a high risk. At the end of the video, The Silencers find DJ Lafrique’s ship, which is making the intergalactic jam session possible. The Silencers’ power up their Death Star-like weapon in preparation to take out DJ Lafrique. However, BTS and Coldplay are able to buy her time by rocking out even more intensely (as you do); she powers up her hyperdrive and blips away before The Silencers can silence her forever.

The ending works for the video; it would be jarring to watch a music video featuring BTS that doesn’t end with a message of hope. The Korean band’s full name, Bangtan Sonyeondan, can be translated as “Bulletproof Boyscouts,” and the group has always seen it as one of their primary missions to act as a buffer between young people and the harsh stereotypes and pressures they face. While the group has always worked to be a balm in a harsh world, this has especially been the case since the outbreak of COVID, which has brought with it unprecedented mental health challenges. In the wake of the global crisis, BTS has worked to be a comfort to their global fandom, known as ARMY. When they released album “Be” in November 2020, member Jin said during the accompanying press conference: “Our goal with the music on ‘BE’ is that it can be a comfort to a lot of people … If many people can relate to it, I will be really thankful.”

Fast forward three months and you slowly come accustomed to the place, learning about its government, and jeno begins to also warm up to you. Though you still don’t talk too much it gets better and you bond over the internal struggles that both of you have and slowly start to develop feelings for each other. but you still wanna have a say so your families agree that you won’t just be married but that you’d have power in both kingdoms kinda like an ambassador and im gonna stop here bc this is very long im soRRY.

Now I’m basing this off your username and the fact that we talked about among us lmao. Less go. So space au! With chenle !! For some reason (idk why just go along with it) there have been people dying in the spaceship. So the space ship crew the adults decided to make an investigation but don’t include anyone that aren’t “adults” but chenle isn’t having it as one of the people who died was his cousin. Now you two have best friends for a really long time so naturally you support him. So you two along with bb jisung who dragged along much to his protest of this being too scary for him and because he knew that chenle was in love with you so no way was chenle letting him out of his sight. Janna likes to hurt me w jeno but I don’t blame her bc has been just ok. anyways, sports au with jeno !! im thinking dancer au !! You guys have an assignment for your choreo class and are assigned partners that specialize in a diff style than you do. Jeno gets high key nervous and stressed af bc a. He’s an introvert and is awkward around new people and b. Kinda has a small crush on you, well on your style of dancing :) so you two are paired up, lets say your majoring in contemporary/modern dance and he’s specializing in acro and hip-hop. overall it’s just a cute lil thing and because the project is a whole trimester long ( so like 3 months ) you guys get pretty close and right as you end your performance on the day you do it on front on the whole school the ending is like a twirl type thing, and umm he leans in or you lean it and boom.

Taehyung tapped on your shoulder to get your attention, and you took out my earbud to hear him.

“Noona, aren’t you sleepy?” he asked.

You chuckled, knowing exactly why he was asking. “You just want me to lean on your shoulder to sleep.”

He feigned innocence. “What? No, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He crossed his arms, facing forward. “I just want to make sure our precious manager is getting enough rest.

“Uh huh,” you replied sarcastically, smiling. He looked at you out of the corner of his eyes. “Why don’t you get some rest, though?” you suggested. “You all definitely need it.”

He didn’t respond, but his eyes were already drooping from exhaustion.

You put my earbud back in and resumed listening to BTS’ new album that would be getting released soon. The album, titled Dark & Wild was finished during your time in LA and was even recorded there as well. You haven’t been back to Korea pretty much at all, except for in between flights. You’ve been busy as ever, flying all over the place and constantly on the move with things to do.

You were excited for the next comeback, though. You felt like the music was starting to become more of their own more unique flavor and you found myself liking this album very easily compared to the others. Not to mention, it was their first full-length album and the boys seem really excited to release it.

A few songs in, you felt a weight on your left shoulder. You smiled when you turned to see Taehyung fast asleep, his head having fallen to rest on you. On your other side, Jungkook was also very passed out against the window. Seeing the boys resting so well made you realize just how tired you were as well, just as worn out from all the traveling and jam-packed schedules. It wasn’t long before you found yourself relaxing to the song Rain and succumbing to sleep as well.

“It feels like we just left Los Angeles and we’re already back,” Hobi said as you waited behind the stage for their interview to start.

“Yeah,” you sighed. “But we’re only here for a couple days for K-Con, then we get to go back home. No more international travelling for a little while.”

Jungkook looked at you curiously. “Did you just say ‘home’?”

“Um, yeah?” you responded, confused. “Is there something wrong with that?”

“No,” he replied. “It’s just… you consider Korea home? Not where you grew up?”

You took a moment to think of your answer. “Well… My hometown will always be a home to me, but I’ve been living in Korea for about two years now. My life, my job, and some of the most important people to me are there. So yeah. It’s my home.”

Jin sniffled, faking tears. “That’s so sweet. I feel so touched, Y/n. I knew you loved me.”

You rolled my eyes at Jin’s dramatics. “Don’t flatter yourself.”

One of the convention staff came to tell you that they were ready for them to go, and as they walked toward the stage, Jin turned around to stick out his tongue at you.

There were actually quite a lot of fans gathered outside to watch the interview, and hearing the cheers for your boys made you swell with pride. Yeah this convention was for K-pop fans, but they were still new, barely a year since their debut so seeing that there were this many people here to see them was really wonderful.

The interview went well, Namjoon being asked to freestyle rap in English (which ended up making you laugh), and a fan was even brought up on the stage for him to rap about her as well. Her bias was V and when the hosts encouraged them to give her a hug before she left she looked so shy, it warmed your heart to see how happy it made her.

The whole convention went really well, the boys being amazed and thankful over and over again for how many fans had come wanting to see them. The concert where they got to perform a few of their songs was the first time they were performing in the US, and they couldn’t contain their excitement over it.

After the convention was over you flew back to Korea, finally able to settle and not worry about when the next plane you would board would be. Sejin drove you home from the airport.

"Well, that didn't take very long," Namjoon said, diverting your attention to the back of the van.

"What are you talking about?" you asked.

"Your bracelet," he elaborated. "Fans noticed it during the convention. One of them took some pictures, and they deciphered the letters. Now its spreading around the fandom that you have a bracelet with our names on it."

"Is that a good or a bad thing?" Jungkook asked.

"Well, they're squealing over it, so I'd say it's a good thing," Hoseok added. "I was just looking at the tweets, and they're saying how cute it is, that we must be good friends and she loves us, stuff like that."

Jin, who started investigating on his own phone once Namjoon mentioned it, suddenly laughed. "Oh my. This one fan is insisting that the letters for Jimin look larger than the rest, so that means he's extra special to her. They're saying it confirms you guys are dating."

"Oh my gosh, Jin," you said. "How many times have I told you to ignore that profile that my shippers hoard to?"

"And how am I supposed to do that?" he asked. "It's hilarious, I can't give this up."

Jimin looked at you, raising his eyebrows suggestively while smirking. "So, we're dating now, noona?"

"I guess so," you responded. "The fan has spoken, how dare we disappoint?"

“I still can’t get over the fact that there’s a whole community in our fandom who ship you with us,” Jungkook said.

“After hyung showed me some of those tweets, it took me a whole hour to stop laughing,” Taehyung added. “It’s so hilarious what people come up with.”

“I’m going to start showing you the theory videos about your guys’ ships,” you said. “You should see how adamant the Taekook and Jikook shippers are, my gosh.”

“The what?” Sejin asked from the driver’s seat.

“The fans who ship the members together,” you elaborated. “Taekook is Taehyung and Jungkook, and Jikook is Jimin and Jungkook. The fans who ship either of those pairings tend to be super into it. It’s crazy and hilarious.”

“Since when are you looking up our ships?” Yoongi asked.

“Since Jin has been making fun of me every day for the fans shipping me with you guys,” you said. “And by the way Jin, let me tell you how many fans ship you and Namjoon together.”

The two looked at each other, Namjoon raising his eyebrows. “Seriously?” the leader asked.

“Yup,” you replied. “They call you the dad and Jin the mom of the group.”

Jin scoffed. “I am not the mom.”

“Yeah, Jin isn’t our mom,” Hobi said. “If anything, our parents are our managers.”

You opened my mouth, about to protest. But you thought about it for a moment. “You know what? That’s actually fair.”

Sejin laughed as the banter started to die out, leaving way for the jet lag-induced exhaustion to kick in.

After arriving home, you were all about ready to just crash. You didn’t have to worry about work until tomorrow, and the boys thankfully wouldn’t have practice until then either. It was time to get some much-needed rest. But you couldn’t yet. There was something you needed to make sure to do first.

As soon as you closed your apartment door, you called a local restaurant that delivered and ordered enough food for everyone. You figured after being away from home so frequently for the past two months, they would really appreciate some authentic Korean food, and you were sure to order as many of their favorite dishes as you could.

You busied yourself with unpacking your suitcase to keep from falling asleep while you waited for the food to arrive. That and if you didn’t do it now, you would probably let it sit there for another month before bothering with it.

It didn’t take too long to arrive thankfully, and once it did you crossed the hall. You took the liberty of using your key to unlock the door and let yourself in, unsure if any of them would be awake. To your surprise most of them were sitting in the living room.

Namjoon looked up from his phone. “Noona? What brings you here?”

“What?” you asked, feigning offense. “I can’t come visit my favorite boys just because?”

“That makes you sound more suspicious,” Hobi said, narrowing his eyes at me.

You smiled, chuckling lightly. “Alright, you caught me. I just wanted to treat you guys for working so well lately. It’s been so exhausting and you deserve something nice, don’t you think?”

Seokjin rushed over and took one of the bags from my hands, looking inside. “Oh my gosh, it’s Korean food. Thank the heavens.”

Most of the others’ faces lit up right away, suddenly excited for your gift. “You’re welcome,” you said, sitting down next to Jimin.

“I’d better go wake up Taehyung and Jungkook,” Yoongi said as he stood up. “They won’t shut up about it if they don’t get to eat some of this.”

The remaining boys helped you take out all the bowls of food and distribute them around the table. It didn’t take long for the two youngest to trail their hyung out of the bedroom, rubbing the sleep away from their eyes.

Jungkook’s eyes instantly landed on his favorite dish and he nearly jumped toward the table to sit in front of it. “Wow, noona!” he said. “You got so much food!”

“Of course, you guys deserve it.” You smiled, distributing bowls of rice to everyone and taking extra care to set all the dishes you knew Jimin liked best in front of him.

It didn’t take long for everyone to settle in and start devouring the meal, many of them expressing gratitude at being able to indulge in their native food. However Jimin remained quiet, not having spoken a word since you first entered their dorm. As you ate, you kept gently placing more food in Jimin’s bowl to encourage him to eat more.

There was no communication needed, you both knew why you were paying special attention to him. You kept it as subtle as possible, hoping everyone else’s hunger and excitement over the meal would keep your quiet interactions from being commented on. Jimin did periodically turn his head just slightly to look at me, and you responded by resting a hand on his back. The last thing you wanted was for him to be uncomfortable, and you wanted to make sure he knew that your actions were based on nothing but care.

It took until about half the food was gone for him to finally seem comfortable enough to eat without your incentives, and it brought a smile to your face when he also began to include himself in the conversation shortly after as well.

You had been so busy, you weren’t sure how bad it was or for how long. But eventually you realized, too late for your liking, that Jimin was losing weight again. You felt terrible for not noticing earlier, and you were concerned that if none of the members had been reinforcing his need to take care of himself that he may have thought you no longer cared. Which of course couldn’t have been farther from the truth, but it was easy to imagine things that aren’t there when your mind isn’t in the best place. You could only hope that your efforts today reminded him how much everyone still did care, and always will.

When the dishes were all but licked clean, Seokjin and Namjoon started gathering all the containers to dispose of them and Hoseok got up to retrieve a towel to wipe the table clean.

Yoongi stood up to walk around the table, placing a hand on Jimin’s head while he passed by. “You ate really well, Chim,” he said. “I’m proud of you.”

The flush on his face was the only evidence of Jimin hearing the compliment. He turned to me and you smiled back at him.

“Good job, Jiminie,” you quietly agreed.

“I didn’t do it on my own, though,” he said, looking down to watch his fingers pick at a loose thread on his sweatpants. By now, everyone was sitting around the table again, their attention focused on Jimin.

“You just needed a little encouragement,” you said, brushing back the hair that fell into his face.

“I haven’t been doing good like I should have been,” he quietly admitted.

It was quiet for a beat before the leader took the initiative to speak up. “That’s okay. We know it’s something that you won’t just be able to stop. We’ll do our best to pick you up when you can’t do it yourself.”

“We’re at fault too,” Jungkook mumbled, wringing his hands together in his lap. “We should have paid more attention. I’m sorry, hyung.”

Jimin instantly looked up, shaking his head. “No, Kookie. You guys haven’t done anything wrong. We were busy, I don’t blame anyone for not noticing.”

“We will just keep working on it together,” Yoongi supported.

Jimin wrapped his arms around you and tucked his head into the crook of your neck. “Thank you,” he mumbled.
