ARCHITECTURE STUDY : CYBERPUNK 2077
Cyberpunk architecture is a sub-genre of architecture the draws inspiration from the futuristic, dystopian settings found in cyberpunk literature and movies. It is often identified by a blend of futuristic, high tech design and gritty industrial features. The architecture draws heavily from the architecture of the 20th century—primarily the Brutalist movement. The Brutalist movement is a style that developed in the 1950s in the United Kingdom post World War II. There is a distinct emphasis on materials, textures, and construction. Cyberpunk architecture makes use of the Brutalist movement’s concrete, steel and glass concepts in a natural and unpolished manner. Yet, it manages to add high-tech elements such as holographic projections, neon lights, digital displays, etc. In the case of Cyberpunk 2077’S Night City a sprawling metropolis with large skyscrapers and mega-buildings create the beautiful skyline, yet the city is an evident mix of old and new—run down buildings manage to co-exist with high-tech structures. Night City uses a lot of references to L.A, Detroit, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, however they primarily worked on from a clean slate. Urban Design experts were involved in the process to ensure that Night City looks credible—moving as a real city.
Night City wants to make you feel small and meaningless. The higher the building the more dominant it is. What happens behind the building is of little importance. That is why you get slum like areas even in the more central locations. Although there are obviously some things that could have been done about it, it seems that Night City was not built as a Theme Park. The image of the city, or how the inhabitants see it seems of little importance. Night City is a living, breathing metaphor. It is what you get when ambition, violence and overpopulation are the core foundation of the world you are building. Everybody wants a piece of the pie even if there is not enough for everybody. There are four varieties of stylistic identity used in the construction of the game: Entropism, Kitsch, Neo-Militarism, and Neo-Kitsch:
Entropism: Necessity over style. Buildings created in this style are old, grey and decrepit and are will often be found in areas where people cannot afford to modernize with the rest of society. Entropism, is a style based on poverty and a severe lack of resources. In a nutshell, this style visually tells the story of the very poor social layer of our world.
Kitsch: Style over Substance. Counter-Cultural movement against the austerity of the old days; an expression of happiness an d recovered. Bold colors, bright plastic and accessibility. Kitsch describes a slightly richer social layer of our world. Members of this social class would use some cyberware just to look amazing and grab attention. Architecture here would also be very attractive, with a lot of vibrant colors, a lot of shiny materials like plastic or good fabrics.
Neo-Militarism: Substance over style. Separated from the austerity of Entropism by its sleek and domineering aesthetic. It’s power dressing and has an air of luxury. A deadly layers of elegance and corporate, militaristic fashion. Associated with mega-corporations. Neomilitarism is very minimalistic, very rich, and very sleek.
Neo-Kitsch: Style and substance. Holds similarity to Kitsch however it lacks semblance to the movement its predecessor aligned with. This is the youngest style in Night City but also a style only for the richest of the rich. People so rich you cannot even begin to imagine what you would do with all the money that they have. It uses only the most expensive materials in our universe like wood, gold, real animal leather and very unique but slick architecture design.
ARCHITECTS BENJAMIN BALL AND ALEX READINGER'S REVIEW OF NIGHT CITY IN CYBERPUNK 2077
Do you think it is realistic, what it would be like in 2070?:
Benjamin Ball: “I think cities are going to become more and more dense. We are going to be more packed in close to infrastructure. Old zoning rules will not apply. We will have to build closer and higher—we will have to build closer to freeways. People will have less personal space. There will be more, and more, runaway capitalism…Yeah maybe this [Night City] is a good take on what 2077 would look like...Hyper dense, very vertical places. “A lot of signage take on a lot of visage on the buildings.”
How sustainable do you think the city will be?
Alex Readinger: “It doesn’t look sustainable at all. There are wall-mounted exterior air conditioner units. This particular cyberpunk version has this ‘Bladerunner’ neon, whereas my version of the future would be powered by algae.”
Benjamin Ball: “Hard to say. Out environments would be synthetic—will be manufactured….Climate will have changed. It will be like living in a machine. Is that sustainable? I don’t know…We would be a lot more solar, a lot more nuclear, and a lot more hydrogen. Who knows?
Cyberpunk 2077 captures a lens of the world that encapsulates the future not just architecturally, but also sonically, politically, and in every single way.
Alex Readinger: “What is frightening is that it feels like a world without relief. Endless sex shops, neon—no end to the noir experience.”
Benjamin Ball: “Endless trail. Endless maze. There is no break from the commercialism of it. Nothing comes out as sacred. There is no nature—it is all about consumption and desire. It’s relentless and it’s where we are headed.”
When you get to the columbarium—even death has be industrialized. “Step up as a uniform and non-personal gridded space with a digital readout. Even spaces that could be sacred was specifically designed not to be.” (Alex Readinger)
PROJECT: HOW/WHY IS IT APPLICABLE?
I plan to recreate chosen locations in Louisville while staying true to architectural design choices that have been used to create Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City. Since cities do not have to be recreated to have a Cyberpunk feel. All a city needs to go through is layers and layers of add-ons while keeping everything in the past. So I will do that exact thing with Louisville. Staying true to our local history while adding a bit of the fictional narratives associated with the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. For example, the downtown builds may depict Humana or the PNC Bank as a “mega-corporation” that domineers over all. Additionally, I will apply the concepts of brutalism into my builds as well.

How to book cheap Flights from New York to Budapest
New York to Budapest
There are several alternatives available for individuals seeking activities to do throughout the day. Along with parks and gardens, the city is bursting with museums and galleries. There are many chances to go swimming or trekking in the neighbouring hills if you're searching for something more strenuous. Naturally, no trip to Budapest would be complete without crossing one of the several bridges that span the Danube. The city comes alive at night with all of its pubs and clubs. You'll find what you're looking for here, whether you want a quiet location to take a drink or a crazy night out. If you're looking for something, there are also many theatres and performance venues. If you're looking for something a little more low-key, there are also several theatres and concert venues. Budapest offers a variety of activities for people of all interests.
How to reach Budapest from New York
Most one-stop flights from New York to Budapest depart from JFK. Lufthansa, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, and United Airlines all have one-stop flights with stops in different European cities. Your stop will depend on which airline you choose. Some airlines may even have multiple stops. JFK is the best airport to fly into if you're looking for a one-stop flight to Budapest. Lufthansa, KLM, Turkish Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, and United Airlines all offer one-stop flights that make a stop in various European cities. You'll be able to find a flight that suits your needs and schedule the best.
The cheapest way to fly to Budapest from New York
A smart way to get a fantastic deal is to leave on a Tuesday. When you arrange your trip to coincide with this day of the week, you may expect to save up to 19%.
To save up to 9% compared to booking during the same week of travel, travellers have discovered it is advisable to book a flight 58 days in advance.
The price of this flight route might potentially go up as your departure date gets closer. There are still other methods to get a discount in the near future, even though choosing to book 58 days in advance may not be an option for everyone.
If you book 1-2 weeks in advance, you might be able to get a trip from New York to Budapest for as little as $835, or $835 for flights within the next 24 hours.
The best time of the year to travel by plane from New York to Budapest is in January. Prices for January range from as low as $502 to an average of $709 per person.
The month of July has the most costly pricing. Choosing a January flight over a July reservation can reduce your travel costs by 37%.
By looking at ticket choices at midday rather than later in the day when rates are often higher, you may save up to 15% on flights from New York to Budapest.
Why visit Budapest?
It's possible that you don't need a specific purpose to travel to Budapest, the capital of Hungary. However, if you're deciding between a trip to Budapest and another European location, take into account the following reasons why Budapest is a wise choice:
Weather
Budapest, which is shielded by mountains, has beautiful weather even when other parts of Europe don't. Here, the temperature is higher and the precipitation is gentler. Budapest might get hot in the summer, but it's lovely and fun in the spring and fall, especially if you're coming from an area where it's usually colder!
Architecture
Budapest is known for its "faded beauty," which is evident in its multi-story structures that have not undergone recent repair or continual refurbishment. There are examples of several architectural movements. A magnificent example of Neo-Gothic architecture is the Parliament Building, while Budapest's Art Nouveau buildings contributed to the city's beauty at the turn of the century.
food and beverage
Budapest provides the chance to gorge on Hungarian gastronomy or any other kind of food, for that matter. Try the goulash soup and other classic national meals or any other kind of food, for that matter. Try the goulash soup and other classic national meals. Don't overlook Hungarian wine and spirits either. The fruit brandy known as Palinka is beloved among Hungarians and available in a variety of flavors. If you enjoy wine, the selections from the nearby wine regions that are available at restaurants, pubs, and wine bars will satisfy you.
Festivals
Festivals Budapest has a variety of events all year long, including festivals honouring regional cuisine and drink as well as music, art, and film festivals. During the warmest months of the year, the Summer Festival is a major draw, and a Christmas market has Santa Claus appearances along with holiday-themed decorations, food, and presents.
Shop for souvenirs.
Hungary is adept at making money out of its exquisite, vibrantly handcrafted, and conventional goods. One of the most well-liked souvenirs is Hungarian needlework, which has vibrant flowers on a simple backdrop. However, tourists usually return from Hungary with suitcases packed with paprika, porcelain, marzipan, clothing accessories, or handmade jewelry.

In co-ordination with Neo Monster Island, Godzilla Fans United, Ghost Godzilla, Godzilla Inspiration, Gamera, and Mothra fb pages we are taking a break to share a mental health day awareness post.
Does this have anything directly to do with Godzilla? No, but we feel that it’s important for us all to step back and do some self care. If you were looking for a sign...we need you to know that you matter. You are valid. You don't have to shoulder the worlds problems, especially your own problems that are overwhelming. You aren't the only one who has felt like this. There are people with shared experiences. It is okay to ask for help. It is a sign of strength and good character to do so; please reach out if you need it.

REVIEW: GHOST IN THE SHELL (2017)
Ghost in the Shell is a film created in 2017 based on the Japanese manga/anime of the same name. The movie description is as follows: In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people's minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that her life was stolen instead of saved. Now, she will stop at nothing to recover her past while punishing those who did this to her.
It has been a while since I've seen Ghost in the Shell, so it was very refreshing to watch it again. However, this time I intended to observe two main things: The city and the Hologram technology that is used/portrayed in the film.
9 minutes into this film we are already granted a flythrough of Newport City, we are given a nice view of the various types of hologram technology in between streets and alleyways as well as the grandeur of the larger holograms that can be seen from the "cityscape perspective".
Seeing the holograms used has given me some inspiration on where to place the ones in my city as well as the types of individuals/symbols I should consider using.
One thing I will say though, considering I am hyperfocused on the holograms, there is an abundance of them. So much so, that it is a bit distracting and overwhelming. I want to play off of this in my own renders. Ideally, I want to distinguish between "overwhelming" and just enough.

Come on guy, you can’t say you didn’t see this coming. It was right under your nose.
Wallace points to the NOTE Ramona scribbled which is pinned literally under Scott’s nose on the refrigerator: RAMONA FLOWERS, 212 664-7665, xxxxxxx
WALLACE
What did you think these were?
SCOTT
Kisses? Seven little kisses?
WALLACE
Seven deadly X’s.
Wallace cocks an eyebrow. Scott slides to the floor.
SCOTT
Why does everything have to be so complicated?
Wallace crouches down to join Scott on the floor.
WALLACE
If you want something bad, you have to fight for it. Step up your game. Break out the L-word.
SCOTT
Lesbian?
WALLACE
The other L-word.
SCOTT
Lesbians?
WALLACE
Okay, it’s ’love’. I wasn’t trying to trick you or anything. Look, if she’s really the girl of your dreams, then you have to let her know. You have to overcome any and all obstacles that lie in your path. You have the spirit of a warrior, Scott. You can do it! Be with her! It’s your destiny!
beat
Plus, I need you to move out.
Scott’s face falls, completely shocked at this bombshell.
SCOTT
What? Why? Are you moving in with Other Scott or Jimmy or someone?
WALLACE
Or someone. Either way, I’m kind of banking on her calling you back so I won’t have to evict you and feel all guilty and shit.
RINGY RING. Scott and Wallace look at the phone.
WALLACE
I have a feeling that’s for you, guy

(Spoilers for Deltarune Chapter 2 alt route)
If you wanna know the trick to beating Spamton NEO in the alt route, it’s to NEVER attack. Whenever you could attack, defend. X-slash does 502 damage and costs 25 TP, meaning that each TP is effectively worth 20.08 damage. When you attack, the most you can get from it is 201 damage and 6 TP, or effectively 321.48 damage. Defending, however, does no damage but grants 16 TP, meaning it effectively does 321.28 damage. In other words, even if you crit every single time, which is near impossible, it’s still no better than just defending. Granted, you’ll end up doing less damage per turn defending since you need to spend more turns to use x-slash more often, but having more TP means healing is more easily available, and that’s not even mentioning the intended use of defending, which is damage reduction. It feels counterintuitive but a good defense ends up being the best offense.

HOW TO: SEAMLESS LOOPS
When presenting these renders, I want to show them in a video format with a seamless loop. This is to achieve a natural viewing experience, but to also make the city feel alive--the goal is to prevent my renders from feeling simply like a video that will be watched. The seamless loop also allows people to look at the minor details I have added.
To learn how to do this I looked at a few different tutorials on different software (Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects) and see which method would be the most convenient and to provide me with the results I wanted, while keeping in mind time and file size.
I chose the following videos:
Seamlessly Loop Footage - After Effects Tutorial
How to Create a Seamless Loop in DaVinci Resolve (Pika Labs Animation Tips)
Create a Perfect Video Loop in Premiere Pro
After watching them all, I found that the most convenient method was the one done on Premiere Pro, however, the one with the results I liked more despite being time-consuming was the one on After Effects. The Davinci Resolve one, while simple, did create the effect I wanted, as where the clips would blend would still have an obvious distinction (it can be seen with the steam coming from the cup of coffee).
