"Jørn, Kjetil and I talked about forming a band months before Øystein came into the picture. And yes, we mostly liked the same music. The only big difference was that Øystein and I were big KISS fans, Jørn and Kjetil were not. I’m actually the first person who played him a Venom album.
The group Jørn usually describes as small, really wasn’t that small at all. But the group that took what Mayhem did in the beginning seriously was small. It was only them. But there were a lot of us who liked Metallica, Motörhead and Venom and were friends with them.” - Nils Svensson, childhood friend of both Øystein and Necro. Thanks @nikkisicc on ig for answering our questions!

Monday, April 15: Hellhammer, "Messiah"
R.I.P. Martin Erich Stricker (Martin Eric Ain) (1967-2017)
Although “Messiah” first appeared (or perhaps more accurately, existed) on the 1983 Satanic Rites demo tape,  Hellhammer recorded what was arguably its definitive version on the now-legendary Noise Records Death Metal compilation a year later.  And forty years after that, the track remains both of its time as well as slightly outside it: the primitive recording values, cheap occultism, general claustrophobia and air of haplessness fed into the notion that Hellhammer was really “the worst metal band in the world”, but a huge portion of the metal that subsequently emerged would simply not exist without Hellhammer or “Messiah”, and the combination of Tom Warrior and Martin Eric Ain (or rather, “Satanic Slaughter” and “Slayed Necros”) balanced the aggression and malice of the nascent extreme underground with an underrated sense of rock and roll groove.  So even though the song sounded like it was recorded in a closet, its propulsion was Accept-worthy and even the grunts had a certain swagger to them.  Hindsight has proven Hellhammer right in a lot of ways, proving just how ahead of their time they were, even if their two core members would go on to make something even more significant in their next band.

In a nutshell this is Henry and Williams relationship status:
Fnaf SL/Fredbear's diner era (1971-1983): Secretly dating
Fnaf 2 era (1987) Broken up, Henry wants William dead. Necro occasionally flirts still with Bottles and Bottles plays along
fnaf 1 era (1991): Still kinda broken up
Fnaf 3 era (2021): Back together again Fnaf 6 era (2022): Still dating, just are pretending to hate each other for the dramatic effect Fnaf UCN - SB (2022-2028): Basically unofficially married at this point. Necro stole two rings when he was back into the mortal realm during SB.

𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐀 𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐄𝐒 -  𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐊 𝐎𝐍𝐄
> FULL NAME: vera lora torres
> ALIASES: necro
> AGE: thirty-two
> DATE OF BIRTH:  july 17
> SPECIES: mutant
> SEXUAL ORIENTATION:  bisexual
> ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: biromantic
> PROFESSION:  medium
TRIGGER WARNING: MENTIONS OF DEATH
what’s your mutant’s ability?
necromancy (death manipulation)
necromancy wiki link
what’s your mutant’s classification level?
delta.
how old were they when they first discovered their abilities? how did it happen?
vera was born into a mutant family and from a young age she could speak to people that weren’t there. her grandmother had similar capabilities and bestowed upon her a love to help people -- to provide closure. after her grandmother’s death she moved to new york to open her own medium business to help others.
so, what can your mutant do with their abilities?
communication with the dead
temporary raising of the dead in a corporeal form
has visions of death in her dreams (of those who have already passed)
…and what can’t they do (at least, not yet)?
temporary control of the dead in a corporeal form
what’s one thing they hope to learn or are currently trying to learn with their abilities?
vera is currently trying to learn how to control the dead once she’s raised them. she so far hasn’t been able to have them under her control.
what is the most powerful thing your mutant can do with their abilities? do you think they would actually do it?
raise the dead. she’s did it because of curiosity mostly and has not intention of doing anything ill willed with them.
what are your mutant’s weaknesses?
Anti-Magic/Magic Destruction/Magic Negation/Magic Sealing/Magical Energy Absorption
May be Weak against Animacy and other Life-Based powers
Robots and Mechanical Beings are immune to necromancy as they have no souls or life force.
do they use their abilities in their day-to-day life? in what ways?
she uses them to bring closure. she runs a little shop where people can come in and communicate with their loved ones,
as a mutant, do they have any goals? dreams?
she opens one day that mutants and humans can live in harmony but for now she’ll settle with the little bit of peace she has in her shop
vera just wants to help people mourn and get closure
how do they feel about the last 30+ years of mutant history? notably, THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS OF 1983 AND THE ESSEX HOUSE?
vera feels as it was full of empty promises. she hasn’t seen a change in anything expect the notion of mutants existing.

Minor Threat - Cambridge, Massachusetts - 1983
«Regrammed from Nancy Barile: “On this day 41 years ago: We wanted to bring Minor Threat and the Necros to the VFW Hall in Cambridge to play with SSD and the F.U.’s. Since it was one of the first shows I’d get to experience after moving to Boston, I was really excited. Before the show, I met Christine Elise McCarthy for the first time; she was dating Springa. She was still in high school, but it was apparent she was smart and funny. The entire time I knew Christine I never saw her interact in any way with Springa that confirmed she was his girlfriend. In fact, it was quite the opposite—she tormented him endlessly. I also met Al’s friends from Lynn, who came out to support him. They looked very much like the guys I went to high school with. There was so much going on at this show, so many good bands. The Meatmen even came out for a short set. The Boston floor was more physical and chaotic than any pit I’d ever witnessed. But it was still all good fun. I remember during Minor Threat’s set, a kid lost a tooth, which Ian promptly returned to him.
After the show, Minor Threat and Tesco Vee stayed at my tiny studio apartment on Park Drive. I was really surprised to hear Tesco was a teacher. I also remember Al asking Ian a lot of questions about the recording of Out of Step, including how they got the sound on ‘Stepping Stone.’ Ian gave me an Out of Step test pressing, and some inserts and a Minor Threat tee.
More stories and photos about this show and more in the SSD photo essay book “How Much Art Can You Take?” available at https://deathwishinc.com/products/ssd-how-much-art-can-you-take

MISFITS
Tumblr media
Ok, it’s time for the first post… So my favorite band of all time will be a good subject! I guess there will be a lot more Misfits posts down the line.
37 years ago on this day, you could catch The Misfits, Beastie Boys and Necros live at the Irving Plaza in New York. Glenn also silkscreen printed these amazing posters you can see in the photo above, to help promote the show.
That’s one of many things i love about the band and find really inspiring, their DIY ethics. Doing it all themselves, everything from silkscreen printing their own posters, t-shirts, envelopes, crafting buttons, building and modifying their own gear to make it fit their image, the list goes on and on.
Their image, that’s the thing i love the most about the band besides the music. It wasn’t their strongest live line-up but Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only, Doyle and Robo looked fucking INTENSE! Glenn ripping it up on vocals while having these two giant monsters playing guitar and bass by his side, pounding their gear to pieces. And having this huge wall of cabinets behind them, most of them painted with the iconic Crimson Ghost logo added so much to the look of the band. Perfect for a horror movie fanatic like myself!
The band broke up in 1983 under bad circumstances, with lawsuits and intrigues between members years later. Most people, including myself thought that chances of a reunion was out of the question. I believed finding a solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict would be easier than getting these guys together again.
I was totally BLOWN away when Riot Fest announced that The Misfits with the original members Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle along with Dave Lombardo and Acey Slade would play together again in Denver and Chicago, for the first time in 33 years. I booked myself a flight from Sweden to Denver and bought a ticket to the Riot Fest right away.
I had to go to Denver because 1. This is a historic show, first time in 33 years and no one knows what to expect (I knew YouTube and FaceBook would be flooded with videos and photos after the Denver show, so going to the second show in Chicago would have ruined a huge part of the experience for me) 2. I honestly believed chances were good that they would only be able to get through one show before killing each other.
I remember getting up front close to the stage early in the day to get a good spot for the Misfits show, which of course was the last show of the whole festival. It was really really hot and i only had one opened bottle of water for the whole day, no food and nowhere to take a piss. I usually love Me First & The Gimmie Gimmies, Bad Religion and all the other bands that performed before The Misfits, but on this day i couldn’t wait for them all to be DONE… for a good reason!
Finally.. Bad Religion were done, the sun was coming down and even though they had curtains covering the stage, you could see the wall of cabinets painted with the Crimson Ghost logo, just like the old days.. just way bigger this time! And you could see these two huge pumpkins on each side of the stage, modelled after the pumpkin on the cover of their iconic Halloween 7” single from 1981. It felt like an eternity waiting for the band to come out, with so many thoughts spinning around in my head, mostly that it all felt so unreal. Then all of a sudden they started playing these eerie noises from the speakers, you could hear Jerry and Doyle turning their gear on. Then this monster voice comes out of nowhere ”I WILL EAT YOU” and the curtains dropped, the band comes out blasting Death Comes Ripping… I’m not the kind of person that dramatizes or exaggerate these kind of stories so this is the truth, i was standing there at the front staring with my jaw dropped. After awhile i could finally get a grip of the situation and started to jump around, waving my arms in the air and singing along to each and every song in the set, they even played my favorite song of all time, Hybrid Moments!! It was definitely my best live experience to date, i don’t think anything is going to beat that experience.
Being a music history nerd and collector i tried to scavenge a setlist, a guitar pick or whatever after the show… I left empty handed but have managed to get some stuff afterwards, hell even the t-shirts and all the other stuff at the merch table sold out before i could get anything… The only thing left was stickers…
Tumblr media
I know Glenn hates it when people take photos with their cellphones and i totally agree. I took four fast photos before putting my phone back, and this one turned out OK… the memories!
Even though i went by myself, it was such a good trip.
I even ran into and got to talk to Milo Aukerman (another hero of mine) from The Descendents in Denver at Wax Trax Records, nice guy!

On October 29, 1983, the Misfits played their annual Halloween performance at Greystone Hall in Detroit with the Necros. However, Damage (the drummer) became drunk before the show and could not play properly. After several songs Doyle escorted him off the stage and Todd Swalla of The Necros filled in for the remainder of the performance. Tensions came to a head and Danzig announced to the audience that it would be the band's final show. Upon returning to Lodi the band members went their separate ways.
