Allison Hargreeves. I was reading through your verses, and Didi’s Drowning in Your Thoughts verse really struck me here. Although Allison grows up knowing about her powers, her own guardian is controlling and distant, and once she’s able to she leaves behind her life as a ‘hero’ and tries to keep her powers locked down while she pursues a career as an actress. The contrast between Allison being raised to believe her powers were the only valuable part of her, and Didi being raised to believe she was normal, and yet them both having a certain lack of control over their powers and reluctance to embrace them is really interesting to me!

Helga Nachtigall. I was also looking through your headcanons, and that’s when the idea of Helga knowing Didi came to mind. Helga also started dancing at a young age, and it remains one of her main sources of happiness as she grows up. I have a couple of modern verses I need to write up for her, but I’m always open to adding more; I figure they could meet either at classes when they’re younger, or at college.

Miriam Maisel. Though Midge grows up as an affluent Upper West Side socialite, once her comedy career starts picking up and she goes on tour as the support to Shy Baldwin, she ends up becoming a favourite performer of a mob boss who has stakes in a hotel / casino in Vegas. I can definitely see ways of adapting this to multiple verses of yours, especially as most of what I write with Midge keeps her centred in New York anyway.

Natasha Isley. As with Helga, I still need to write up Tasha’s modern verses, but. When she’s younger she’s a dancer, but has to give that up after she gets sick. Once she recovers she goes into acting, and once she becomes properly famous she uses her status to aid various philanthropic endeavours. I can definitely envision her crossing paths with Delores.

She’s still not entirely a fan of these things - these would-be-glitzy parties where the famous and infamous are expected to play nice with one another. They’re a far cry from the ones she used to attend before she moved to America, where people were encouraged to drop the masks they wore in their day-to-day lives, rather than reinforce them.

She leans against the bar as she orders a sidecar, politely rebuffing the efforts of the bartender to flirt with her (saying he wasn’t her type would be a vast understatement), and then realises she recognises the person closest to her.

“You look as though you want to be here about as much as I do.”
