Prompt 22: Fulsome
generous in amount, extent, or spirit Character(s): Kien Eilath, N’noah Wiloh Cw: none Word count: 352 Notes: short and sweet today because I was kind of a loss of what to do with this word and I settled on some light hearted silliness instead! I had to post from my phone so please excuse any weird wording/formatting. I definitely plan to go back and re do this one at a later date when my mind isn’t preoccupied with a ton of work stuff. Enjoy~
(Banner coming soon!)
When Kien returned to the shared home in the Lavender Beds, he was instantly greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread. Odd. He wasn’t expecting anyone to be here as the last he checked, Blaise and Tokki were still at the Rising Stones and he hadn’t really seen N’noah or Bastian, the other two elusive residents of the house since he got back from the First.
Curiously, he wandered to the kitchen, the sweet scents making him remember he had barely eaten today and he was quite hungry. When entered into the small doorway, he was greeted by an abundance of bread and pastries, enough to feed a small troop by the looks of it. Happily humming by the oven was N’noah and the miqo’te raised an eyebrow, clearing his throat to get her attention.
“Are you having a feast tonight?” Kien asked half jokingly.
N’noah’s ears flickered and she perked up. “Oh! Kien! You’re back!” she glanced around, a small blush adorning her cheeks as if she just realized how much she truly baked. “I guess I got carried away and made too much, sorry about that!”
“No, it’s alright,” Kien chuckled. “What’s the occasion?”
“No special occasion,” N’noah hummed as the timer dinged and she pulled out another fresh loaf. Kien raised an eyebrow incredulously at her and she shyly added: “I broke off my engagement with Emannellain.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,”
“Don’t be,” N’noah smiled calmly. “It’s for the better for both of us—he needs a lady of the house and I wasn’t that lady. It was my choice really.” She gestured to the generous amount of baked goods around her. “I tend to bake when I need to get my mind off of things—I didn’t know that I would bake this much to be honest.”
“We can take some back to the Rising Stones if you’d like,” Kien suggested. “I’m sure there will be at least a few people who happily take some of these sweets out of your hands, myself included.”
“Help yourself!” N’noah giggled. “And don’t worry, that was the last loaf of bread, I promise.”

FFXIVWrite Day 11: Surrogate
Characters: N’Noah Wiloh and Kien Eilath Word count: 729 Timeline: Set far in the future, no particular expansion in mind Warnings: None Notes: Is there any indication that something like surrogacy is a thing in this world like we have in irl with modern technology? No idea. But this was the first thing that popped into my mind and I ran with it. Plus I’ve been toying with this idea in Kien’s story eventually so glad I finally have a chance to get it out on paper. Enjoy~
The idea of being a mother to her own children was never something N’noah considered. Sure, she enjoyed being around children or taking care of Tokki or Blaise’s kids when they needed someone to watch them but, she always did so with the happiness of knowing she would return home to Sicard and not have to deal with a child yelling for no reason or pulling on her tail for fun. She wasn’t even sure if she was built to be a mother, mainly because she never had a good example to go off of–her mother being too ill to show her what it took to be a mother–if that was something that could even be taught.
She would sometimes wonder, however, what it would be like to be a mother, or at least, go through the motions of it all without having the permanent result of parenthood–she knew she wasn’t ready for that–but maybe if she could somehow go through the process first it could help her make up her mind. But…that was something that was merely a dream and besides, she was happy enough to continue traveling the seas with just her lover by her side.
But then–strangely enough–that dream would become a reality.
She hadn’t known what to expect when Kien wrote to her, asking if he and G’raha could meet with her for lunch. He didn’t specify what he wanted to talk about–only that he had an important question and it was best to be asked in person. Never being one to turn down food and good company, Noah met with Kien and G’raha at the Last Stand one sunny afternoon.
After lunch was finished, the three of them sat and chatted the afternoon away until finally, as the sun began its descent into the horizon, Kien’s expression turned nervous and he began to fidget until G’raha calmly placed his hand atop his and nodded encouragingly. Kien sucked in a breath and asked the question that brought them together.
The initial request catches Noah by surprise, her breath catching in her throat. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, the tension palpable at the table as an array of emotions flickered across her face. She must’ve made her initial shock plain because suddenly Kien’s cheeks turn a shade of pink and he’s frantically waving his hands in front of his chest, a look of embarrassment written all over his face. “You don’t have to say yes if you don’t want to do it,” he said hastily. “I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable.”
Noah blinked at him, her eyebrows raising in confusion before a small played across her face and her eyes softened. “Kien, I’d be honored.” She replied sincerely.
Kien, mid-babble in his apology, froze and blinked at her. “You-You would?”
G’raha’s ears twitched forward in his surprise. “Are you certain? You’re not saying that because you feel pressured, are you?”
Noah’s smile widened with a giggle as she reached her hands across the table to gently take Kien and G’raha’s hands in her own. “I’m not sure if I ever want children of my own at the moment but what I do know for certain is that I want to be Eorzea’s coolest aunt to a baby Eilath and if that means being your surrogate to make that happen, then I’d be honored.”
Kien and G’raha took a moment to process Noah’s words before they looked at each other with wide smiles and laughs of relief and joy. Kien turned back to Noah with tears in his eyes, his grin infectious. “Noah–this means so much to me–to both of us,” He looked back at G’raha who was still at a loss for words but was smiling and nodding all the same.
“And it means the world to me that you asked me, thank you,” Noah smiled back, feeling her heart flutter in excitement and anticipation. She hadn’t expected this to ever happen–the fact that her strange dream of going through the motion of motherhood without the actual child at the end–was coming true. The journey ahead was sure to be full of surprises but she was honestly happy to help her best friend start a family of his own.
And maybe, after all was said and done, she’d learn if she wanted to be a mother to her own children someday.

Prompt 27: Sole
the section forming the underside of a piece of footwear (typically excluding the heel when this forms a distinct part).
Character(s): N'noah Wiloh, and cameos of Scions and my friend's ocs Cw: none Word count: 650 Notes: I thought I'd go with a different definition for this one at first and do a little angsty post but then I thought it would be fun to re-create an actual thing that happened to me when I worked at my old job so here is so silliness based off true events!
Tumblr media
If there was one thing N’noah did a lot of since she joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, it was walking. She very much enjoyed traveling to all the new places and meeting all the new people but why was it she couldn’t report back to them over linkshell after all was said and done? Every task wasn’t complete until she made the long trek from the Crystal in Horizon to Vesper Bay where HQ was.
[Go assist with this beast tribe [and try not to let the Slyphs trick you into dancing for them for two bells straight again]
Pray return to the Waking Sands.
Go help fight off this primal [but not actually because you don’t have the echo and no protection against being tempered so you usually keep the tempered ones at bay while Kien, Blaise, and Tokki deal the major damage.]
Pray return to the Waking Sands.
Attend the City-State meeting in Ul’dah [and try not to fall asleep out of boredom because they tend to drag on longer than necessary sometimes]
Pray return to the Waking Sands.
Go to this place....and...well, you get the point.]
That walk alone seemed to do her in the most–why they hadn’t thought to put the HQ closer to a teleportation crystal was beyond her. She was fairly certain that was one of the reasons why her favorite pair of boots were beginning to show their wear and tear–she could feel the rubber underside becoming looser and looser from the leather shoe everytime she wore them. Still, she stubbornly told herself she’d give it just a little longer before she attempted to repair them or gods forbid, replace them.
Alas, some things aren’t meant to be.
It was a very hot day in Thanalan when she once again teleported to Horizon and began the walk back to the Waking Sands after another successful, yet admittedly, boring meeting. [She was beginning to wonder if she was cut out for this or should just stick to adventuring on her own but that was a quarry for another time] Everyone else was already there but she didn’t rush–the rest of the day was open so she had every intention to just enjoy a leisure walk back to kick off the rest of her afternoon off.
The walk there felt…off. The sole of her left boot kept dragging more than usual  so she attempted to pick up her feet a little more with each step in hopes that would further delay the inevitable. By the time she got down the stairs and into the main hallway of the Waking Sands, she noticed her left shoe was missing the underside entirely now, which meant she had truly worn out the boots until the last of its life.
“Ah well,” N’noah sighed, more amused than anything. “It was bound to happen I suppose.” Guess the answer of repair or replace was obvious. She wasn’t entirely sure when the underside of her shoe finally fell off but she didn’t really feel like going back out in the heat to investigate so she wandered into the common room and sat down at a table with Kien, Blaise, and Yda, casually sliding into the conversation.
Thancred entered the room a moment later stopping short in front of the tables with a very amused yet bewildered expression. “Did someone lose their sole by chance?” When his question gained the attention of the room, the Hyur held up a brown rubber underside of what appeared to belong to a small boot.
N’noah brightened, popping up from her seat. “Oh! That’s mine! You found it!”
The Scions nearby couldn’t help the chuckles of amusement as Thancred shuffled over to her and set the sole in her outstretched hands. “I think it might be time for some new shoes, Noah.”
N’noah laughed in agreement. “Yes, I think that might be a good idea.”

Prompt 12: Dowdy
(of a person or their clothes) unfashionable and without style in appearance.
Character(s): N’noah Wiloh, Emmanellain de Fortemps  Cw: None Word count: 532 Notes: Set sometime after Heavensward, when Emmanellain and Noah were still seeing each other. She may be confident, but her time with Emmanellain would sometimes cause her to doubt that as she knew from the beginning this wasn't her forever lifestyle chocie. Just figured I'd mention that in case it doesn't translate well!
Tumblr media
“Is it…too much?”
N’noah gazed at her reflection in the mirror, turning slightly to the side to get a better angle. The dress she was wearing, a floor length blue gown with just the right amount of frills, was beautiful she had to admit, but she still somehow felt out of place wearing it.
“It looks wonderful on you, Noah,” Emmanellain replied cheerfully. N’noah glanced up at his reflection behind her with a small hesitant smile as he stopped short just behind her as she continued to move the silky fabric every which way as if it would somehow make a difference.
“I just feel like this will make me stand out more than I already do,” she frowned at her reflection again, picking up the sides of her skirt to pull the dress out. Not that she really cared so much what others thought of her, but she was trying hard to meld into this new lifestyle and she hadn’t missed the way she saw some of the other high society women gazing at her with judgemental stares. “I’m not meant for this kind of thing, you know?” She added as she returned her gaze to Emmanellain’s reflection, the insecurity written all over her face as she dropped her hands and let the fabric drift back into place.
“You’ll be the prettiest one there at this ball, I assure you.” Emmanellain hummed gently as he moved closer so he could wrap his arms around her neck and shoulders. N’noah reached a hand up to grasp his arm lightly, nuzzling into his touch. “A lady of the Fortemps household is never one to look dowdy.” He lifted her hand to place kiss on it, causing the other to blush slightly. “And if the others think you are not meant for this house, then they can answer to me.”
“Or your brother,” N’noah teased lightly. “You can barely pack a punch.”
“Hey now,” Emmanellain frowned, feigning a hurt expression. “I thought we agreed to drop that.”
“I’ll drop it when you agree to stop calling me old girl.” N’noah playfully rolled her eyes as the other let out a laugh of ‘not going to happen’.
She gently wiggled herself out of the Elezen's grasp. “Well, I suppose it is one night, and I do like the way it looks.” She sighed softly as she finished pulling her hair up into a soft low bun. “I’ll admit you have quite the eye to find dresses but don’t expect me to wear something like this all the time, that’s not the kind of lady I am,” she added with a tut, a part of her teasing but also completely serious.
“It’s just for tonight old girl,” the Elezen chuckled. “I promise I don’t expect you to dress like this everyday.”
“Good,” N’noah turned to face the other, standing on her toes in order to place a light kiss on Emmanellain’s cheek. “Alright old boy, let’s get going to this ball. The sooner I’m announced to this whole high society, the sooner I can get out of this dress.”
Emmanellain chuckled again, offering his arm for N’noah to take and they made their way out to the ballroom.

Prompt 8: Shed
(of a tree or other plant) allow (leaves or fruit) to fall to the ground
Character(s): Kien Eilath and N'noah Wiloh (post-ARR, so Kien is 19/20 and Noah is 21/22) Cw: none Word count: 815 Notes: Shed=shedding of leaves off a tree=fall=SPOOKY SEASON. It’s spooky season for me once September hits so have a cute lil fic that mentions the shedding of leaves from trees, once XD (it counts, right?)
Tumblr media
Since arriving to Eorzea, Kien found that the changing weather and seasons were the most fascinating and welcomed adjustment. Back on Meracydia, he had only ever experienced one season–hot and dry with the all too frequent weather condition of dry thunderstorms.
But Eorzea in comparison, had four different seasons with drastically different weather conditions and out of those four seasons, Kien found that the one called ‘autum’ was his favorite. The weather was cooler in the day and nighttime, there were actual thunderstorms with rain, or just the occasional rainy day itself, but what he really loved about it was how the leaves in all the trees began to change color, and fall to the ground–it made his morning walks through the shroud a peaceful and scriene sight to behold.
Today, the weather was especially chilly as he wandered through Gridania with his friend N’noah and he couldn’t help but burry his nose into the collar of his jacket as a particular strong gust of wind whipped through the air. Beside him, N’noah seemed to be unphased by the wind, tossing her head back instead and stretching her arms to the sky with a contented sigh.
“This is the best!” She giggled. “The weather is gorgeous today and we got all of our errands done with time to spare!”
Kien glanced at her with a smile. “Is there anything you want to do before we head back to the Rising Stones?” He thought about stopping by his house in the South Shroud to say hello to his guardian but remembered he was back on the road for work so he left the choice up to N’noah on what to do to fill their time.
N’noah tapped her hand to her chin in thought as they made way through the small cave leading toward the older part of Gridania. “Hmm, maybe we could stop by the Botinist Guild? I was thinking of getting some seasonal flowers to brighten up HQ.”
“Sounds like a good idea to me!”
With the destination in mind, the two Miqo’tes began to make way through Old Gridania but no sooner did they approach the amphitheatre, N’noah was veering off course from the bustle of activity around them.
“Oh! It looks like they’re getting ready for the All Saints Wake festival tomorrow!” N’noah pointed out, her ears twitching eagerly as she practically skipped toward the amiphitheatre gate to get a better view of the people hanging various decorations.
Kien followed after her slowly, genuine confusion on his face as he came to a stop next to her before asking, “Isn’t that just a day where the saints ascend the heavens for a feast and the creatures of darkness wreck havoc? What’s the festival for?” His ears flattened against his head when he saw his friend turn to look at him with her own confusion.
“Wait, didn’t you come to Eorzea two years ago?” N’noah asked innocently as she arched an eyebrow. Kien nodded, feeling his face begin to heat up in a blush of embarrassment. “And you never once came out to see what the fuss was all about during All Saints Wake before?”
“Well, no,” Kien rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “I think I might’ve just missed it the first year I arrived, and then last year Ranald was going to take me but I got sick and we ended up not being able to go. I know a little bit about the legend and why its celebrated because Ranald at least told me the stories in hopes to cheer me up but…I just didn’t realize how big of deal it actually was until now I guess.” He gave her a small shrug, anticipating her to start judging him or teasing him about it.
But instead, N’noah’s smile grew wider and she started to bounce on her toes. “So, I get to be the one who pops the bubble of your very first All Saints Wake festival?”
Kien blinked, relief washing through him at the fact that this conversation was actually not going the way he expected it. Another welcomed change. “I suppose so,” Kien answered as he too felt the energy from N’noah’s excitement and began to break out into an eager smile of his own.
“Oh, this is going to be so much fun!” N’noah cheered. She grasped his wrist again and eagerly tugged him along through the gate toward the stage. “Come on! Let’s see if they need help setting up! I’m sure everyone could tell you some really fun and spooky stories from festivals! And then, we’ll go find Bastian and Saraphina to help you find you a costume for the festival tomorrow night! I can’t wait!”
Kien let out a laugh as N’noah continued to eagerly babble about the things to come. His first true All Saints Wake would be one for the books.

I would love a Fun Fact about each of your characters, since you're becoming a multi-OC blog!
Ah sure! I’d love to! (°▽°) hmm let’s see;
Kien Eilath (my main Miqo wol) is predominately left handed but when fighting he’s ambidextrous! This is largely because he had to learn to fight with his right hand during the end of ShB because his left shoulder rendered him unable to because of light corruption.
N’noah Wiloh (an alt oc who is also a miqo) is the only oc I have that shares the same universe as Kein! Everyone else is separate. Her fun fact is that she’s an excellent card player but would rather cheat to win because she’s challenged so often she just wants the game to end quickly X3
Syren Ligeia (my other wol who is a viera) was present at Camp Riversmeet during the calamity. He was stationed there with his father when we was still part of the Knights and helped fend off the dragons while dealing with the sudden snow storm from the calamity. He started to experience the echo shortly after that and that incident is what led him to finally leave Ishgard for answers.
Ciel Fyth (alt oc who is a viera) knows sign language! He learned because his older brother’s fiancé was deaf and he wanted to communicate with her. It became more of his way to communicate with his brother often as they traveled, and it was the only way he communicated when he was going through a period of being mute. (Due to trauma ( ´∀`) )
And finally, Atticus Wolfram (an alt oc who is half Garlean, half Elezen) is known as ‘The Raven’ because of the way his voidsent looks when it’s summoned. He’s earned quite the reputation as a reaper even though he doesn’t advertise it and passes as a Gunbreaker to any unknowing person.
Some of them might not have been ‘fun’ facts so to speak XD but it was the first thing I thought of so hopefully this gave some insight! ( ◠‿◠ ) thank you for the ask @ascendedhypothesis <3

Prompt 23: Suit
go well with or enhance the features, figure, or character of (someone)
Character(s): N'noah Wiloh Cw: None Word count: 299 Notes: Little bit of a short follow-up from yesterday's word, I'll probably go back and add more to it once I get home from my errands but wanted to get the first draft posted beforehand! Enjoy~ :3
Tumblr media
Fingers trace the patterns ingrained into the worn wooden beam as N’noah climbs the stairs leading up to the ship deck. She pauses at the top, lifting her face to the sun to bask in the warmth, breathing in the salty air of the ocean breeze. Her lips curl up into a fond smile as she walks to the railing of the deck, lavender eyes gazing out into the open water before her.
This is where she belongs.
She was never someone who was meant to settle. She knew that deep down in her heart. Still, she found herself falling for Emmanellain and for a while, she thought her life would be one where she could settle down in one place and start a family. But then on the days where she was alone because of one thing or another, she found herself yearning for the life she once had.
It wasn’t a life she had wanted at first. It was forced upon her no thanks to her mother’s past mistakes but over time she grew to love it—even more so when she gained her freedom. When she broke off her engagement with Emmanellain, it was no easy task. They both had a long conversation about it and in the end, came to an understanding. It was better for the both of them to go their separate ways. Emmanellain needed someone who would be willing to carry on the Fortemps name and N’noah just wasn’t that person.
She released a small sigh, turning around to lean against the railing. She didn’t think she’d ever willingly step foot onto a pirate ship again. But it was different this time. New captain, new crew, new-found freedom, and a new beginning.
Yes, this was the life she was much more suited for.

FFXIV Write 2022 //ffxivwrite info//Prompt list//Characters//master post// Prompt seven: Pawn | noun; a person used by others for their own purposes/a chess piece of the smallest size and value. | Word count: 475 Characters: N’noah Wiloh, Emmanellain de fortemps, with mentions of characters belonging to @circusredmage and @tokki-yue CW: none Notes: Set after the end of the Dragonsong War in Heavensward but no major spoilers. Figured I’d give a little fluff since the last few things have been a bit heavy. Formatting will be fixed once I’m at my computer and not a phone. ——-
“Checkmate.”
N’noah sat back in her chair, crossing her legs and arms as her lips curled into a smug smile. Emmanellain sat across from her, staring down at the chessboard dumbfoundedly as he tried to make sense of what just happened. Outside, a snowstorm raged but it was quite cozy in the Fortemps’s palor with a large fire crackling in the hearth and everyone gathered together for a quiet evening to relax.
Quiet, until Emmanellain loudly proclaimed he was the chess master in his family and challenged N’noah to a game, despite Kien and Tokki’s strong discouragement. But with Bastian and Saraphina baiting him and telling him about N’noah’s past winning streak, the younger Fortemps was not easily swayed.
And so while N’noah and Emmanellain settled across from each other to begin the game, Kien, Tokki, and Alphinaud took their places behind the Elezen to watch while Bastian and Saraphina took a seat behind the Miqo’te. Blaise returned just shortly after the game begun with the tea tray for everyone and sat down next to Alphinaud, intrigued as Kien quickly filled her in on what she missed.
The game ended as soon as it began. After a mere four moves, N’noah had her bishop and her queen diagonally from Emmanellain’s king which hadn’t even moved.
Emmanellain had to do a double take just to make sure he was seeing things correctly. “Wha—but—how?!” He looked back up at N’noah, mouth agape. “We’ve only just begun!”
“Experience, old boy,” N’noah giggled as she leaned forward, folding her hands on the table and resting her chin atop them. She watched in amusement as Emmanellain tried to recount his moves, picking up various pawns as he did so. Kien sympathetically clapped his shoulder with a silent ‘I told you so’ while the other three exchanged looks of amusement.
“Up to your old tricks again Noah?” Saraphina snickered but only loud enough for her cousin and Bastian to hear.
Bastian shook his head at the seeker with a smirk. “One of these days, you’re going to get caught.”
N’noah feigned a look of innocence as she twisted around in her chair to meet Bastian’s deadpan expression. “Mayhap, but I didn’t cheat this time, swear it.”
Bastian crossed his arms in disbelief. “Really? Show me then.”
N’noah rolled her eyes and turned back to face the board, gathering her small pile of sacrificed pieces and placing them back on the board. “Bastian doesn’t believe I played a clean game,” she loudly proclaimed, gaining the attention of the room again. “So Emmanellain, I challenge you to round two!”
Emmanellain groaned. “I don’t have a choice, do I?” Even so, he set up his pieces again and made his first move.
N’noah arched a brow in amusement—he made the same opening mistake twice. She shot a playful glare back at Bastian. “Watch closely now. I’ll win this in six moves.”
Sure enough, six moves later and a sacrificed queen, N’noah curled his lips into a smile and sat back in satisfaction.
“Checkmate!”

Send 👗 to see them in a fancy dress
<Screenshot meme>
So I saw this and instantly thought I’d show N’noah in her fancy dress as she’s got a little bit more options in that department compared to Kien so here she is in her favorite dress to wear whenever she’s in Ishgard or Camp Dragonhead waiting for Emmanellain to finish his work for the day!
Tumblr media
Bonus: (Kien looks pretty good in his fancy dress even if he’s too embarrassed about it XD)

FFXIV Write 2022 //ffxivwrite info//prompt list//character info//master post//
Prompt nineteen: Turn a Blind Eye | idiom: to intentionally not give someone or something attention | Word count: 1446 Characters: Kien Eilath and N’noah Wiloh Cw: None Notes: Little short one-shot of how Kien and N’noah met! This is around the early ARR timeline so Kien is about 18/19 here and N'noah is 18. Still actively writing this so please enjoy the first half and I’ll reblog it as soon as it’s finished :3
----
The Sapphire Avenue Exchange was busier than he thought it would be. When Blaise had told him about the market, he was expecting it to be similar to the Gridania markets–crowded but not overly so. This was much livelier than expected. The long avenue was aligned with stalls on both sides with merchants yelling out their goods above the chattering crowd while some others were off to the side with papers of their event or tavern, trying to win the attention of shoppers as they passed by. Kien kept close to Blaise and Tokki as they made their way through the crowd but the minute the Keeper spotted an empty bench to the side, he made a beeline for it, telling his two companions he needed a bit of breather.
As fascinating as it was to be a new place, Kien admittedly felt overwhelmed and was glad to be apart from the crowd, even if it wasn’t too far off. He let out a heavy sigh as he plopped back onto the bench, feeling physically drained. Just as he closed his eyes to catch a bit of a doze, his ears flickered on alert as an angry shout wormed its way through the crowd. “Oy! That infuriating girl! Where in the hell did she go!”
Kien stood back up, his instincts kicking in as he scanned the crowd for the cause of commotion, instantly spotting two brute looking storm their way through the crowd. He watched wearily as they passed, noticing that he seemed to be the only one paying them any attention as the majority of people just parted the way and went about their business as if something like this occurred often. Once the two men disappeared out of sight, Kien sat back down again with a sigh, attempting to just focus on his own relaxation like everyone else.
“Thank the Twelve, he didn’t see me.”
Kien jolted at the voice. Hidden behind the potted plant to his left was a rather petite red-haired Miqo’te woman dressed in a blue Thavnairian Bustier. Had she been there the whole time? Kien hadn’t noticed her before so her sudden appearance caused his heart to leap to his throat. He tried to play it off but the Miqo’te’s violet eyes flickered over to him in curiosity and she grinned in amusement.
“Oh, my apologies,” she giggled. “Didn’t mean to startle you!” She stood up and dusted herself off, glancing around for any sign of the two men returning before clapping her hands together in satisfaction. “Well then, I’ll be off!” She threw a smile at Kien and dashed off in the opposite direction of where the Hyur men went, leaving Kien to ponder what he had just witnessed. His linkshell began to go off and he reached up to answer it in a bit of daze.
“Tokki and I finished our shopping!” Blaise’s cheerful voice said. “If you’re feeling better, come to the Quicksand and we can grab some lunch before going back to the Waking Sands.”
“Sure, I’ll be there soon,” Kien replied and cut the connection. He inhaled a breath in preparation to submerge himself in the crowd again but just as he made it to the first stall, the Miqo’te girl was running straight for him, desperation in her eyes.
She reached out to grab his shoulders, giving herself leverage to swing herself behind his back. “Pray, ley me hide behind you!” She whispered. Unable to bring himself to say no, Kien nodded and squared his shoulders, carefully backing up against the brick wall so the woman could crouch down in the shadows. A moment later, a rather furious looking Roegadyn stormed through, stopping short to suspiciously scan the small crowd of onlookers, his eyes landing on Kien’s and he made for him.
“You, have you seen a miqo’te girl, about this tall?”
“I’m fairly certain I saw her go by that way,” Kien replied, pointing toward the bustling market. “Might want to get going though, she was running by pretty quickly.”
The Roegandyn scowled at him before turning on his heel and pushing his way through the crowd and deeper into the market place. The Miqo’te waited a few more seconds before glancing behind him, a sigh escaping him. I have no idea what I am getting myself into. Kien shrugged off his coat and handed it to the woman behind him. “Here, wear this. It might help you blend in a little better until you get yourself to a safe place.”
“Wow,” the woman giggled as she straightened back up and slipped the coat on. “I sure picked the right guy to hide behind!” She emerged from her hiding spot, pulling the hood up to cover her ears and circled around to face Kien. “It’s not everyday you meet someone who won’t turn a blind eye to a potential criminal making their daring escape after stealing from the syndicate!” She playfully clasped her hands behind her back and grinned up at him.
Kien paled, his heart sinking a bit. He hadn’t thought about that. What if that is exactly what he had done? That wouldn’t look good next t his newly acquired reputation as the Warrior of Light–Gods, I’d never hear the end of it from Tokki! The woman’s sudden burst into laughter interrupted his thoughts and he looked up.
“I jest, I jest!” She put her hands up in a small surrender as she continued to laugh. “Oh, you should see the look on your face!” After a few more minutes, she began to gather herself and reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes. “Apologies, I didn’t mean to laugh at you. I’m not a wanted criminal and I didn’t steal anything from the syndicate, so you can relax.” Kien let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding and she sprung forward with her hand outstretched. “N’noah Wiloh! Nice to meet ya!”
“Kien Eilath,” the Keeper replied in a bit of a daze as he shook her hand. “Do I dare ask why those men were after you?”
A sheepish grin crossed N’noah’s face as she rubbed the back of her neck. “Ah well, long story short, I was running away from that Roegadyn you saw earlier. I uh, sort of punched him, and stole something of his, figuratively speaking.”
“So a lover’s quarrel?” Kien hadn’t realized he asked that aloud until N’noah let out a snort of laughter, shaking her head. “Ah, apologies for assuming.” Now it was Kien’s turn to rub his hand sheepishly on the back of his neck.
“Ah no, no,” N’noah waved her hands in front of her. “It’s…a bit more complicated than that but regardless, you potientially just saved me from some serious repercussions if I had been caught and now I can finally be free of that man and his crew.” She stretched her arms up to the sky in relish before smiling again at Kien. “Thank you for your help.”
“My pleasure,” Kien smiled, curious as to what she meant by all she had just said but knew better to ask–it didn’t feel right to pry into her business when he just met her. “Will you be alright on your own? I’ve got to meet up with my friends at the Quicksand but you’re welcomed to tag along if you’d like.”
N’noah smiled. “I appreciate the offer, but I think I’ll be alright on my own now. I’ve got a friend who said they could offer me shelter until this whole thing blows over.” She shrugged off the coat and handed it back to him but Kien shook his head.
“You can keep that just in case.” N’noah blinked at him and he smiled.” I’m sure our paths will cross again and you can return it to me then.”
“Alright, and as a thank you, I'll tell you the full story." She turned on her heel and headed toward the city gates, glancing back to wave. “Well then, Kien, see ya around!”
Kien waved and watched her go before turning on his heel to head to the Quicksand to meet with his friends and soon after they all returned to the Waking Sands, Kien mildly surprised to see N'noah sitting at one of the tables with Arenvald and his friends. She looked up, her expression mirroring Kien's before a smile broke out. "So that's why I could trust you!"
"You two know each other?" Arenvald asked and they nodded. "We met by chance today! He helped me escape here actually." She gestured to the empty seats at the table. "If you've got the time, I owe you a story!"

FFXIV Write 2022 //ffxivwrite info//prompt list//character info//master post//
Prompt five: Cutting Corners | idiom; to do something in the easiest, cheapest, or fastest way possible | Word count: 908 Characters: N'noah Wiloh and Sicard CW: None Notes: I have never played poker so if you see any errors with this short game of poker, no you didn't XD
Tumblr media
There were only two ways to settle disputes when it came to dealing with pirates: a duel to the death or a card game.
N’noah much preferred the latter, as it didn’t involve as much cleanup, but the card games could be rather dragged out at times, leaving her bored and itching to do something else after a while. She was never one to participate in these long games, mainly because the pirate crew she worked for wouldn’t let her but she at least was allowed to observe them. Thanks to that, she quickly learned all the tricks and techniques to end the games quickly, even if that meant cutting corners every now and then.
When she escaped from her captors, she swore to cut all ties from pirate life but settling disputes and bets with a card game was the one thing she could never seem to cut out. In fact, it was something she became famous for in Limsa Lominsa and she gained quite the reputation of never losing any sort of card game. No one could figure out her methods or techniques, and no one was brave enough to even try, until Sicard and his crew stumbled upon her that is.
She had been enjoying a quiet moment to herself outside the Rouge’s guild when the rowdy group came marching toward her. With crossed arms and an air of confidence, Sicard challenged her to a card game, telling her today was the day her winning streak would end. Unable to back from a challenge, N’noah accepted.
Despite the unpleasant memories that bubbled as she boarded the ship, her mind was in complete focus mode as soon as she sat down at the barrel across from the Hyur. He looked completely smug as he pulled out the cards and began to shuffle–N’noah couldn’t wait to wipe that look off his face. “What are the stakes?”
“Toss in any amount of gil,” Sicard replied as he cut the deck and shuffled one more time. “The more the better. Winner keeps the gil, and loser has to do a request of the winner’s choice.”
“Any request?” N’noah arched an eyebrow at the other who nodded back with a cheeky grin.
“No need to tell me your request though, I’ll be winnin’.” He exchanged smirks with his crewmates and dealt the cards. “Ready to lose?”
“Darling, I never lose.” N’noah grinned back, her eyes sparkling in amusement.
And so the game began.
At first, N’noah played clean. Not that she had much choice in the first place because Sicard refused to take his eyes off of her and her hands whenever it was time for her to play. She would fold on purpose a few times, watching as that smug look only grew on his face each time. The gil pile started to get rather large as the game stretched on and N’noah quickly took note of how easily flustered Sicard got any time she would draw a card and toss a confident look his way with little to no comment. That’s when his crewmates began to aim snarky comments at him. It was so easy by that point to cut a few corners and perform a few sleight of hand tricks out of his eyesight because he would be too distracted snapping back at his mates to notice. After a few more rounds, Sicard slammed his hand down with pride.
“There we go lass, a straight flush.” He leaned back and corssed his arms, his mates snickering behind him. “Ready for my request?”
“Oh, I don’t think that will be necessary.” N’noah peeked her lavender eyes from behind her raised hand, a sly grin crossing her face. She watched in satisfaction as Sicard’s expression faltered for a moment before she placed her cards down in a flourish. “I think it’ll be me asking you for a request.”
Sicard staggered forward, his eyes growing wide at the sight of a royal straight flush. He looked back up at the Miqo’te, mouth agape as he sputtered, “But–you–I—how?! I was watchin’ you the whole time! You looked as if you was about to lose!”
“I told you,” N’noah giggled as she happily pulled the large pile of gil toward her. “I never lose.”
His crewmates began to cackle, clearly enjoying this. “Well now Sicard, that’s what ye get for braggin’!” One of them hollered as he clapped the still too stunned to speak hyur on the back.
Sicard seemed to regain some of his composure as he shook his head in disbelief. “No, no, you cheated!”
N’noah feigned a look of innocence, her lips forming a small pout. “Did I? How could I have cheated if you were watching me the whole time? Do you have any proof?”
Sicard raised his hand as if he was ready to present evidence but once again, he was left with his mouth open and shaking his head. He slowly lowered his hand, his face one of pure bewilderment. Behind him, Sicard’s crewmates began to roar with laughter, the taunting aimed at him only increasing as they clapped him on the back again and praised N’noah for her good game. None of them had any idea she cheated to get the game to play in her favor. How easy it was to fools pirates sometimes.
N’noah leaned forward with a coy grin and rested her chin atop her clasped hands. “Now then, about that request.”

FFXIV Write 2021 Day 6
// FFXIV Write Info // Prompts // Master post //
Day 6 Avatar
Note: So uh, I saw this word and instantly thought of this short story with my other character N’noah Wiloh. I have yet to really introduce her and I have a blog for her but I just might move it to here but this little stroy might be a good enough introduction to her! No warnings apply except slight 4th wall breaking and uh hilarity? I guess? XD Anywho, enjoy!
Ft. @bastiandotes aka 1/3rd of our Red-headed trio or 1/3rd of the goofballs sharing the same brain cell
It was late by the time N’noah returned to the house. No one else was awake which gave her the resolve to just sleep downstairs in the library but on a whim she decided to check if Bastain was home as the Hyur tended to stay out later than everyone else. Sure enough, his room was unlocked and she took it upon herself to climb to the top bunk and settle in for the night.
Just as she began to drift off to sleep, the bedroom door opened and Bastain walked in, flicking on the light. The Miqo’te quickly retreated under the covers and waited with baited breath.
“I know you’re there, Noah.” Bastian sighed as he dropped his bag and blade at the end of the bunk bed.
N’noah’s ears poked out from under the covers and she peered over the side of the bed, her long red hair falling into her face as she threw a grin down at the Hyur. “Aw, you found me out!”
Bastian crossed his arms and let out a sigh. “I’ve known you sneak into my room to sleep in the top bunk for a while now. Don’t you have your own room in this house by now?”
N’noah sat up and shook her head, her tail lazily draping her lap. “Nope.”
“Why not Kien’s room? Or Blaise? Literally anyone else’s room but mine?”
“They all locked their doors and I think Kien has company over tonight.” N’noah shot Bastian a sly grin causing the Hyur to stare at her expressionless for several seconds.
“Alright fine,” Bastian huffed as he crawled into the bed below. “Just, find somewhere else to sleep tomorrow night. Sara will be back by then.”
“Ohh, I see,” N’noah giggled as she flopped backwards onto the bed. “You want some alone time with her.”
“Don’t start with me Noah.” Bastian let out an exasperated sigh causing N’noah to giggle again.
“Alright, alright.”
The overhead light flicked off and silence fell into the room. N’noah turned onto her side and stared at the wall for several long seconds before a sudden thought occurred to her and she turned to face the other way.
“Hey, Bastian?” Bastian let out a hum to indicate he was listening. She propped herself up onto her elbow. “Do you ever wonder if there’s a higher deity out there controlling our every action?”
“Oh gods,” Bastian muttered but Noah chose to ignore it as she rolled over onto her back and stared up at the dark ceiling.
“It’s like when you want to say one thing but suddenly you’re saying something entirely different but no one around you questions it because it’s probably something you’d say anyways in their eyes but you know it’s not what you wanted to say because a higher being is actually in control of who you are as a person.”
“Are you really asking me this right now?”
“Or mayhap it’s not just one higher deity but several? And they each have their own person to control? Almost like it’s a game for them and we’re all just under the power of what they pick and have planned for us...like puppets on a string. Or a holographic avatar in a node.”
She was greeted by silence for several seconds.
“Hey, Noah?”
“Yes, Bastian?”
“For the love of Thal’s balls, go to sleep.”
