“One turn of the switch and the girl’s blood would forever be fused with the gorilla’s!”
Mystery Men Comics #36 (September, 1941). Cover by Chuck Cuidera.
Sadly, the scene from the cover appears nowhere inside this comic!

"Yesterday's" Comic> Mystery Men Comics #2
BW's "Yesterday's" Comic> Mystery Men Comics #2
Artist’s representation of Twitter decades before its creation. Mystery Men Comics #2 Fox Features Publications (September, 1939) Wonderworld Comics just wasn’t holding my interest. Outside of The Flame and a couple of other comics most of them I could do without or even ignored come review time (like Don Quixote’s modern day adventures). Hopefully Mystery Men will have better luck. I started…

The problem with being a fan of both Gambit and Tim Drake is that their respective comic companies have no idea what they're doing with my favorite characters.
Gambit has "LOOK, A MYSTERY! How does he know legit everyone? This information is a surprise tool that will help us later!" except they never ever reveal what the mystery is because they don't know either. Which has basically been happening since his origin in the 90s.
Tim Drake hasn't had a unique storyline since 2009 with Red Robin (yes, I count the 2022 Tim Drake Robin because they backtrack him into Robin). In the Red Robin comic series, they establish that Red Robin is essentially punishment for him, Tim's only really been special for his role as Robin, and this is a transition period to get him elsewhere. And then they just NEVER gave him anything else. He's STILL Red Robin. Sometimes he's back to Robin and sharing the mantle with Damian, which is WORSE.
Writers, I love my characters. Please stop backtracking their character development IN THEIR OWN COMIC RUNS.

something that makes me sad is when people tell me the healthy communication in my writing is "unrealistic."
like guys this is how me and my partner talk with eachother... I'm writing from personal experience...
#like it's sad both on the front of 'dehumanizing my real life'#but also on the front of 'you deserve to have healthy communication in your life'#like if you think this is unrealistic it means more than likely you havent experienced someone being patient and understanding with you#and that makes me very very sad#I'm sorry#also it's just rude to tell me my writing is unrealistic LOL like hey#real people talk all kinds of ways. shut up#I've been told it's also in part cause they always understand their own feelings when theyre talking#but I'm like...#theyre like mid 30-early 40 and theyre immortal and theyre going through a lot of shit#I feel like theyve thought about it a lot#also the comic takes place over the course of a year so far#we're seeing the big moments and the fun mysteries#so#its about grown men who love eachother#sorry that they think about what they want to say before they say it#also as if adam isnt constantly wrong and steve isnt constantly pushing shit down#he's only JUST RECENTLY starting to share his emotions as they come up#instead of pretending theyre not there and letting things boil over#I think people just THINK theyre communicating way too clearly because their partner#who loves them#is listening and responding with kindness#like..#idk I have a lot of thoughts about this#would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE for this to spark a discussion#and especially for it to cause people to reread a little more critically#and perhaps even introspect on their own ideas of communication standards#I've been with my partner for 10 years. this is how we talk to eachother

1988's Wolverine Vol.2 #1 cover by John Buscema & Al Williamson.
Heritage Auctions : "The iconic cover from Wolverine's first solo ongoing series ! What can we say about this monumental piece of comic history ? Not only did this series cement the clawed Canadian as one of the most popular comic characters, but the stunning artwork was created by Marvel mainstay John Buscema. This image fronted the issue that took the character, best known for his gruff/no-nonsense attitude and elite fighting skill as a member of the X-Men, and presented a different persona to the world, where Logan (as Patch) lived and thrived in the crime-ridden world of Madripoor, dealing out his own personal brand of justice. A departure from the character fans had known, the series revealed more sides of the deadly mutant were discovered as his mysterious past was slowly uncovered. All that was kicked off by this eye-catching shot of Wolverine on a pile of bodies, claws popped and standing the moonlight. Most comic collectors of the late 80s will recall the feeling of grabbing this off the shelves, evoking a sense of nostalgia just at the sight of this piece ! A true Marvel gem ! Ink and screentone over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Slight toning, stat logo/header paste-ups, acetate overlay with stat text paste-up taped at the top, staple/pinholes and tape registration marks in the margins, scratch effects, marginal notes, with light smudging and handling wear. In Very Good condition. Includes a copy of the comic and John Buscema's signature on a piece of board."

The last x-men story i have to read: an explanation of Jean Grey's powers written by Linda Fite. I don't even know if Linda Fite is still alive. Information on her online is sparse. But as one of Marvel's only and earliest female writers, I think it's interesting how little I can find on her. But I think her writing was pretty good here, in any case. (X-Men #57):

This one hurts. As an 80s child, he was a part of my weekly routine. every Saturday morning, I watched Playhouse with my Dad. Now, both of them are gone. He and I loved his movies, his work with the Groundings, everything. Here's to the memories.
