YO SICK. MCU CRYPTID CRAWLER MOVIE? YOOO!!!
A first look at the designs of 3 major characters!!
Just kidding! I MCU-ified the trio cuz why the heck not?
[original Acedia post]
Original images of the actors for Doc Ock & Mysterio used plus the original stock images of the arms used for Otto:
Harvey Guillen & David Dastmalchian
honestly the best choices for the roles
had to edit these to be transparent and also fix the colors to be more on model for my Doc Ock..... I was not about to draw the actuators from scratch.

My friend Static said one day whilst talking ISWM/ Markiplier Cinematic Universe alternative universes.
“Actor would make a good Mysterio.”
And my brain loved that idea, hence this doodle.
Thank you Static.
(yes this also makes reference to Dark being Spider-Man, it was cool okay-)

Y'ALL. I AM IN THIS.
I'm so excited and beyond honored to be the English dub voice of the mother and grandmother of Osa Mayor and Osa Menor, Oscar's mom, and various crowd members throughout Rey Mysterio vs The Darkness.
I fell to my knees and cried when I was hired. I still can't believe it.

the church on ruby road makes me so excited and gives me so much hope for doctor who going forward because not to put RTD on such a high pedestal but what he has tackled within the four specials he’s been given so far have been so beautiful and well crafted and well done and that is both on him and the actors. obviously dt and catherine tate bodied it as they always do but ncuti and millie are PERFECT!!! i adore them. i’m so excited for them as characters and i am so excited to see them on my screen may cannot come faster i am just so joyous about doctor who again like a kid and it is wonderful that it feels like a serious sci fi show as well as a kid/family show again
#i just LOVEE THIS STUPID SHOWWW#the church on ruby road is one of my favorite specials ever it just scratches ever itch a dw christmas special should scratch#because to me a perfect christmas special is one u can watch year round and for me there’s only a select few christmas specials i will watch#religiously year long. like runaway bride & the wedding of river song & the return of doctor mysterio & the one eleven special where he has#to save the planet and the second dumbledore actor is in it and there’s the shark and such. u guys r picking up what im putting down#doctor who#the church on ruby road#fifteen#ruby#yappin

HEROFY: Mysterio
I think the later decades have only made "disgruntled VFX worker who abandons Hollywood to strike out on his own artistically" easier to root for but let's do something new:
Quentin Beck has basically the same backstory, kid who loves movies and grows up making stop-motion shorts even against his family's wishes and develops enough technical knowhow to become a VFX artist and stuntman. The problem being, he's a VFX artist and stuntman, both of his jobs are unstable or unsafe, overwork him to the bone, and net him absolutely zero recognition. He keeps screwing up jobs because he plans for things that go way over budget, and he keeps getting screwed out of jobs because, he's a VFX artist and stuntman in film, it comes with the territory. He's only really a stuntman because he needs an extra source of revenue and he desperately wanted something that was still in film. He is trying to conciliate his all-consuming love for the artform with his need for money and dignity and conditions necessary to live so he can keep on with his work (and also his ego, because you can't divest Mysterio from his ego). He lives for one thing, and it's killing him.
Some people have put forth the idea that the rise of superheroes would cause special effects workers and magicians to be rendered obsolete and that being the kick-off to Mysterio's career, but I'm gonna argue the opposite would happen: film chases reality, not the other way around. So instead, the advent of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers puts a HUGE pressure on the film industry to advance and quadruple down on replicating the things that people go crazy for in the papers. Billion dollar budgets, CGI advancements rushed out the door years too early, actors being replaced by digital puppets, etc. Quentin Beck has to live and find work in an MCU world overnight and it drives him to the breaking point. And then, he hears about Spider-Man, this carefree flipping freak who abandoned showbiz to be a full-time superhero, this sellout hack in tights who will pretty soon be a franchise and a nightmare for stuntmen everywhere to play, and it's the last straw, so he decides to go and pick a fight with him. Partially because he wants to stop Turn Off the Dark from happening, but mostly to see if he can be the hero instead of this insulting little snot that needs to be put in his place.
And then he succeeds. He gets away with everything in that original story and Spider-Man actually gives up, bows out of costumed life. Mysterio is now a hero revered in the papers with a parade thrown in his honor, and best of all, he has FINALLY found a calling that makes use of his expertise. He can finally give Hollywood the middlefinger and use his artistic talents for something AND make a living AND be appreciated for it. He figures that with this, he can probably start making his own movies, maybe cash out the Mysterio character as a franchise, and eventually retire. But there's two problems.
One, is that he got what he wanted. He disgraced and replaced Spider-Man, and so now he gets to be the main character of Spider-Man comics, and thus, deal with all the Spider-Man problems. Two, that his fight with Spider-Man? The "greatest action scene in history"? This time, the cameraman got it all on film. Mysterio achieved the greatest, most thrilling and impactful scene of his career, and he wasn't even trying. Worse, his co-star, the villain of the scene, is now gone. Beck could just let it go, but he can't. He can't peak this early, by accident. He can't be a fluke. He can't.
So now he has to actually go out there and fight crime, again and again and again and again, in the hopes that he can get it all on film, in the hopes that he will find a villain as thrilling to fight as Spider-Man, in the hopes that it will be another hit, another masterpiece, because while nobody gives a fuck about Quentin Beck still, Mysterio is now a film icon. Not only can he not allow himself to be a one-hit wonder, he can NEVER unmask and ride this out into a lucrative retirement, and he can't turn to crime and risk being exposed either, because he can't ruin the character everyone loves now. He can't ruin his life's work. He has made a masterpiece, and now he has to make it forever.
With great art, comes great expectation.

BEHOLD‼️ HE IS MYSTERIO‼️
hey if I end up redesigning him I’ll just edit the picture
SO, Quentin Beck mention
He's not AS developed as curt and otto bc I'm still trying to figure out his deal
An actor, stuntman, special effects expert, he wanted a professional career in the movie business. After directing his own, it failed miserably. Being a very passionate artist at heart, this messed him up.
He used his resources to start off in the criminal business, figuring his talents would best be used elsewhere. Hiding behind the Mysterio persona, others he works with think he's a sorcerer. (He ALWAYS has the bowl on when he's working with criminals to hide his real identity) Beck spends his days as a magician, performing at smaller shows.
A couple of years after Spider-Man's debut, Beck wonders why the hero never capitalized on his fame. A man who never got over the addiction for applause and fame, grew spiteful of the hero. (I may find a way to link Spider-Man to the movie thing to further his motive) So, he decided to take him down by becoming a worthy match for the spider and even take his popularity while he's at it!
random facts
The pettiest/sassiest man in this universe.
He knows a bit of French, and will flex it whenever he can.
A very multi-talented individual- will get flustered if you compliment him (then say "of course i am!").
He's mildly allergic to roses, this gets used against him to reveal his identity.
The storyline for Mysterio is set up like a mystery for now. Mysterio's real identity isn't known, and is usually quite hidden in the criminal world for the sake of protecting his civilian identity.
Quentin presents himself as a neat freak so he can get away with messing around with his sleeves or coat. (there's hidden buttons inside that can ctrl robots and such)
Studied Spider-Man for a couple of years, so he is a sort of advisor for Ock during the Sinister Six arc.
Loves David Bowie, his playlist would be full of him.
Multiple outfits for multiple purposes. Some may have a cape, some may not, but they all have the bowl.
Due to his stunt work, he is athletic, which catches Spidey off-guard at times. (But he's not obnoxiously buff, he's just lean)

Okay but like, do you think that video of Agent Phoenix being kidnapped will come back into play?
Zor clearly wanted that recording for a reason right? Like sure it fits with the vibe of John Juniper and him being an actor but he admits that it wasn't his plan. That Dr. Zor wanted him to do that and if it were up to him, the agent would have already been killed. He knew that Agent Phoenix would escape if left alone but his hands were tied.
So what did Zor want with the tape? You could say that they wanted footage of the agent dying to replay and rewatch whenever they wanted but if John Juniper knew the agent would escape, Zor had to as well.
My theory is one of two things. And they can both be accurate at the same time. One, Zor wanted to study the agent. See how fast they thought. See how quickly they escaped and what type of things they're capable of. They WANTED the agent to escape so that they could see how the agent operated and use it against them later.
I also think that maybe, just maybe, they did it so they would have a video that they could edit and manipulate. Think like the end of Spider-Man far from home when Mysterio uses doctored footage to turn the world against Spider-man. Only this time they use it to manipulate the public into believing that they've killed Agent Phoenix or still has them captive. Agent Phoenix is basically a superhero now so people have to know what they've done. Maybe it's going to escalate into a major fear tactic.
I hope they bring back even a mention of it so that we can get more answers. It also may give us a better understanding of Zor as a person.
