Welcome to Jungle Run!
This is an incredibly self-indulgent blog where I post polls of trios and you vote whether they would win the golden monkey or not. The golden monkey is the top prize, and your team must use your speed and wits to get to it in time.
Now, wtf is Jungle Run?
Jungle run is a game show that aired 1999-2006 where a group of kids do challenges and are rewarded with monkey statues. Each monkey statue gives them 10 seconds in the final temple where they have up to 3 minutes to complete 4 challenges. After completing each challenge they will get, in order: The Stone monkey, Bronze monkey, Silver monkey and the Golden monkey.
The goal is to get as many monkeys as you can, and bring them out with you before you run out of time and the door to the temple closes.
You can watch the first episode on youtube (and many more)!
The voting options
Yes, with the golden monkey They have enough time to complete all the challenges, take each monkey and get out before the door closes
No, they lose at the final riddle and get silver The final challenge in this season is to solve an easy question with a 5-letter answer, and each person has to stand on the right letter at the same time (on different platforms) to spell the answer.
No, they lose at the cog puzzle and get bronze A lot of kids have lost to the cog puzzle. You have to use your smarts to put a few cogs in the right place so you can spin them and make the door open.
No, they lose at the jigsaw puzzle and get stone A surprising amount of kids lose to the jigsaw puzzle. It's a large 6-piece puzzle. There are faint marks that show where each piece goes. You probably lose here if you're panicking, uncoordinated, or have never done a jigsaw puzzle in your life.
No, they lose at the ball maze and get nothing The "ball maze" means they have to tilt a platform with a maze and a ball in it until the ball goes into the hole, similar to the Myahm Agana Shrine in BOTW.
No, they run out of time and get locked in It doesn't matter how many monkeys they got, because they didn't make it out in time. Maybe they got too greedy or were too slow.
Submission rules
Of course you can submit your own trios to compete. Here are the rules:
Submit through my ask box! You can include a picture and/or propaganda if you want.
They should be a trio. I can make occasional exceptions if it's a 4 person group (because early jungle run had groups of 4!) and maybe if it's a funny "could they solo jungle run". But generally just 3 characters. Also, they don't have to be associated in canon, you can make up any team you like.
Any ages are ok, even though it's a game meant for kids.
Real people are allowed at my discretion.
dividers used are by plum98.

God, I fucking hate Mogg Latan. Maybe more than Myahm Agana. Jump into the void over and over again, miss one fucking jump and get sent all the way back to the beginning. Use up all your hearts and die to a fucking shrine because somebody decided frame-perfect timed jumps would be fun

Congratulations on your 100 milestone! For a prompt, how about Link brings Zelda inside a shrine?
Tysm for the prompt @linksthoughtbrambles. Enjoy!
“Ready?” Link steps inside the alcove of Myahm Agana Shrine.
“Ready!” Zelda joins him on the platform made for one.
They’re standing close. When the shrine rumbles and they begin to descend, Zelda shrieks with the sudden movement and closes the distance, holding on for dear life. Link’s hands find her waist in the dark.
By the time they emerge from the pitch black shaft they’re kissing. Link only feels slightly guilty when they break apart and he glances at the empty pedestal where the ancient mummy had rested.
Awestruck, Zelda turns to study the apparatus controlling the maze. “Wow!”

Those Breath Of The Wild Apparatus shrines were all an exercise in misery. Ze Kasho, Myahm Agana, Toto Sah… May the goddess watch over you cause if I catch you—
#botw#like those shrines would have been just as hard if it was the joystick#and in a special way curse the Ze Kasho Apparatus shrine#getting one shrine ball onto a switch is hard enough. getting three is horrible#anyway glad the gyro wasn’t used in a big way in ToTK

When you start replaying Breath of the Wild because it sounded like fun, then realize that you’re gonna have to do your least favorite shrine AGAIN
But then you solve it on your very first attempt

Perhaps my greatest gaming moment
So I can’t really afford a Switch right now and I’ll be damned if I’m buying a Wii U, but I did kind of want to play Breath of the Wild. So I finally got around to downloading the CEMU emulator. The framerate isn’t great, but the game is at least playable and it’s been fun so far.
What I did not realize was that there were shrines with puzzles that relied on you tilting the controller. The emulator does let you do that with some fiddling, but it reacts really weirdly. (And I suck at these puzzles already)
I’d already given up on one that required you to first tilt a platform so you could reach a chest and a get a key and then tilt it entirely differently to actually get to a locked door. And then I got to Myahm Agana shrine. The one with the maze you have tilt to guide a ball through it.
I had heard about flipping the maze, but the weird emulated tilting controls made that impossible. Instead I spent 30 minutes fighting with the controls. I even made it to the end of the maze, but couldn’t get the speed I needed to make the ball clear the gap between the tilting maze and the track it had to land on.
I got annoyed and spun the maze at random just as a new ball dropped down. Of course it got knocked away and I calmed down and decided to wait for the next one. And then no new ball came.
Confused, I looked around just in time to see the ball I’d knocked away calmly rolling into the hole to open the door. My annoyed flailing had knocked it over the fence and on to the track!
I died laughing.

Climbed halfway over Mount Floria (my usual route into Faron) before realizing I can't get the warp point for Qukah Nata shrine (Song of Storms quest) without a metal weapon. Picked up Shoda Sah warp point instead (behind the waterfall below Riolu Spring, where Farosh often spawns) even though I can't get anywhere from there without the Zora armor, it being at the bottom of a canyon.
Did not actually do Shoda Sah shrine puzzle because I somehow thought it required a weapon to hit stasised objects, even though I clearly saw the "hit this to make launcher go" crystals and I know for a fact that hitting those uses no durability, so I can hit them with my torch as many times as necessary. I should maybe go back and do that. After I get Toto Sah apparatus shrine -- I've beaten all the apparati on Switch Lite before, I can do it again, I already beat Myahm Agana -- and probably get killed by a bear while trying to get one specific korok in Hickaly Woods. (For some damn reason there's always a bear by that korok, and those fuckers have as much health as a decayed guardian unless you headshot them.)

Link, dealing with the ball maze shrine puzzle: I will prevail!!! To save all of Hyrule along with Princess Zelda!!!
Link, five hours later: I’m going to practice the ancient tradition of giving up
Bonus
Link: The Ancient Sheikah are so advanced, but can’t develop good motion controls???
Urbosa: You know, you can always flip it over and use the underside to roll it down

This shrine isn’t nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. All it requires is a little patience and slow, steady movements. In other words, don’t freak out and it’s easy peasy.
This was only the second ball. So, not the first try, but close.
#breath of the wild#botw#the legend of zelda#tloz#myahm agana shrine#motion control#it's not that hard guys#honestly this is easier than flipping it over#i don't understand why people hate the motion control shrines so much#or motion control in general#it works just fine

Hey @zeldalinkohmy, thank you for sending in a request! Here is BOTW Post-Calamity Zelink in a snowstorm :) Featuring Sassy!Link and Flustered!Zelda because I wanted to try my hand at that.
Kindly beta read by the wonderful @braidy-maidy
When push comes to shove
“We… we probably should stop Princess-”
Her numbed feet crunched through another four steps of shin-high snow as the wind howled through her trapper hat, generating yet another shiver to run down her spine. But Zelda was on a mission, and she would not let the weather get in her way. “Nonsense! We are so close! Just another…” She hesitated, peering into the gloom, “another…”
“Precisely my point, Zelda. I saw you shiver. The wind’s changing. And we can’t tell where we’re going because the sky and the ground are starting to look like a uniform grey mass.”
She glared into said grey mass as he’d coined it, and realised he probably had a point. Each breath she took felt like she was inhaling ice. And she couldn’t deny the snowfall had slowly been increasing over the past four hours they had been travelling. Still, she couldn’t allow him to win that easily. “Are you trying to speak like me?”
“Whatever gave you that impression, sweetheart?”
She flipped backwards, turning to meet his likely gloating face, and as expected was met with sparkling cobalt eyes, paired with a raised eyebrow and an easy-going smirk. He had a delightfully cute accumulation of snow on his hair braided into two bands, and she ached to brush it off.
No! Focus, Zelda! She had more weapons in her arsenal! “We shall simply refer to the slate then!”
He shook his head.
“Why are you- you just wait! I’ll show-”
And… the slate wasn’t turning on. Or well it was, but it was simply a static blur on the screen. A furious blush stormed across her cheeks, spreading all the way down to her legs, even warming her numbed feet. It wasn’t fair! This Link had no qualms about teasing her. Hell, he had no qualms about anything at all, it seemed. When they first entered Impa’s house after defeating the Calamity, as soon as Impa mentioned “Retake the throne”, and Link had seen the smile fall off her face, he’d whisked her into his arms, and shamelessly teleported out.
Once they were outside the Myahm Agana Shrine, he declared she needed to see the world first, and if she wanted to, he needed help in finding the remaining 20 shrines. She’d taken him up on his offer, and 6 months later, they were in the bowels of Hebra, with the final shrine left. They were so close! So close! Why couldn’t the weather cooperate!
“Ah my dear Zelda. Come. I know we haven’t found the shrine like you wanted to, but we can always try again tomorrow. You can’t win against the weather, you know.”
What, could he read minds now? It was her turn to tease him! She had material here! “Yeah? So why, pray tell, did you consistently decide to defy rainfall to climb mountains? And then had to remain immobile for hours?”
He rubbed his nose, “We don’t talk about that.”
“Mhm. Or you know, when you decided to go straight into a sandstorm despite knowing it was coming because you had a new shield you wanted to try to seal-surf with?”
“Okay fine! We all get the point here!”
“Or-”
He clamped his arm around her waist, and pulled her close, his icy red nose jutting at her cheek, his frigid lips just ghosting her chin, and- what was she saying again? She felt his lip twinge against her in his trademark smile and she shook her head. She was putty in his hands and he knew it. “Just this way, Princess.”
Although, she couldn’t deny it, when they finally reached the cabin and worked together to stoke the fire into a roaring flame, when she aided him in organising their ingredients to make cold-resistant spicy meat and seafood fry, when he dragged a huge fluffy blanket from the cupboard and snuggled her into his arms so they could sit wrapped up tight with a plate fisted between the two of them… and when he set said plate aside and decided to kiss the wildberry flavoured fruit cake crumbs off her face, she decided he was right.
Research could always wait until the storm had passed.
